Miguel is awesome! He's a laid back and approachable teacher who is all about teaching you great analytical and argumentative skills. He goes for fun activities and keeps the class interesting. He's also very understanding and not strict at all.

I fell in love with him. He is such a great teacher as well as just a great person. He genuinely wants to help and takes time out his own life to do so. It was difficult in the beginnning of the course but I not only learned so much but I got an A!

Want a challenge, be willing to put forth the efforts to learn how to write a college paper. This is a great experience and I loved how he respected his students. Never a cruel word! Only encouraging responses with his famous remark "Any questions". You will not regret this experience.

I took this class in the summer and it moved very fast. Having to read Beowulf in 2 days was not an easy thing to do. However in a fall/spring class it would be easy top do with all the time you will have. This class was alot of work in the summer, but I got an A. Powers is a great teacher, take him.

Powers is awesome. He wants you to do well and he loves what he teaches. All you have to do is ask for help. Use his office hours..he's there for a reason. There is a good amount of reading to do so just stay on top of it. If you know how to schedule your time you'll be fine. plus he's pretty damn charming so coming to class is never a drag

Honestly the best professor I have ever had. I transferred to CSUF and I am still using the things that he taught in his class. So intelligent, funny, sexy, and he is a great person. He makes you work but you end up being a better writer and a better person!

Absolutely wonderful teacher!!! You do have to put out the effort to learn and read all the material, but it's worth it. His class is fun and exciting and you can tell he is passionate about literature. One of the best teachers I've had so far. :D

He's a really fun, awesome professor. He gives fun lectures, and there are some good extra credit opportunities as well, so that's good.

Besides the fact that he looks like he was sent from the heavens, he is a really good teacher. You definitely have to put time into the class for homework and such, but his teaching style is very interesting and most students enjoy it.

Powers is a great teacher; he is more than willing to help his students, and he makes the class fun and interesting. But he is a very hard grader; you CAN NOT "B.S." an essay and get an A, you actually have to do A LOT of research and put A LOT of time into it.

Powers is really amazing. He's not your typical sit and listen to lecture kind of guy so he makes you move around, get into groups, assigns specific tasks that go beyond reading the text (write your own poem, story, play, etc) and he is always enthusiastic about the material. Not to mention he's quite funny once he get's comfortable with the class.

if you have no background or interest in literature whatsoever, DO NOT take this class. i have nothing against the professor, he is a nice person that loves group work! however, i felt very insecure in the class because i was not as literature savvy as everyone else. still managed a B, but i am an A student.

Very rewarding teacher. He puts a lot of effort in his lessons. When having a class discussion make sure to read the assignment and DISCUSS, most people don't and it's pretty boring. Essay's are more important than anything. He grades you based on what you've learned not what you know. I would take him again if I could.

Great Professor. Not an easy A by any means,but you will learn so much from this course. I did take his course during summer school so that may be why the workload seemed excruciating. Attend class regularly and be prepared to devote time to all the reading assignments and writing quality papers. It certainly helped that he's easy on the eyes.

He's a really great professor! Although this semester he seemed a lot more relaxed and graded a lot easier. There was one group essay, which no one was a fan of. I wish he was more specific in what he wanted us to read from Fat land. It would have been nice if we had read a chapter a week and then got to pick our subjects. advice would be read!

I took Miguel's class 1 year ago and to this day he is still my favorite professor. His lectures were constantly upbeat and engaging. His class is challenging because he wants to see each student reach their full potential. If you want to grow more as a writer and as a person, take him. Our class started the "final group essay" - you're welcome.

Any class taught Miguel Powers will incorporate educational worksessays accompanied by philosophical, meaningful, relevant and fast paced monologues that further the ability of his students to ask the best questions in any situation that demands an argumentanswer and to be able to apply those questions to their realm of thinking and action.

Dr. Powers is such a great professor! He really cares about his students. He was working on his doctoral dissertation during our class, and still came to class even though it was due like 2 hours after class ended. He's very dedicated to making sure the students understand. Only had 1 essay and then a revision. Take-home midterm. No final. :)

Honestly I think Professor Powers is one of the greatest teachers I've ever had. He's super interested in helping his students, he gives you great feedback, and he gives you a ton of opportunities to improve your grade in his class. I wouldn't say this is an "easy-a" class, but it's definitely very doable if you put in the work.

Powers is a fantastic professor. He makes an effort to help his students and answer any questions they ma have. His objective is that his students actually learn the material in his class. He makes it clear that he does not simply wan students to regurgitate information, but understand it and apply it beyond the classroom. Totally recommend!

Prof. "Growth Mindset" :-) is the best!!!! He taught me how to think critically, "thinking about my thinking to improve my thinking", "being wrong is not wrong, staying wrong is wrong" -- I now know how to ask a better question to get the needed information and how to revise my own writings with AXES & Toulmin method.

If you're thinking about taking him, TAKE HIM (unless you already have a tough set of classes lined up). This class does require a fair bit of work, especially in the beginning of the semester. I found myself putting in way more effort than I had wanted to but I learned so much! I genuinely treasured this class and it made an impact on me.

GREAT teacher. He's super helpful and has great advice for improving your writing. He has great lessons related to both writing and life in general. You will have to write quite a few papers, but take them ALL seriously! You really have to work, but put in the effort and show up to class because he really does give you the opportunity to get an A.

Great Professor! Mr. Powers is a really great teacher and really cares about his students. I took him for his Intro to Shakespeare class, and I really enjoyed it. He makes learning Shakespeare really fun and easy. He also lets you use the No Fear Shakespeare books if you want, which makes it a lot easier.

He gives AMAZING feedback. He'll teach you life lessons, and makes you think about your arguments. He is a tough grader and does make you work for it. I took Dr. Powers for honors english103. I consider this the most challenging class I took in Fullerton College, however, through his instruction I managed to pass and learned a lot about writing effective argument based papers.

Had Prof. Powers for English 100 and it was the best class ever!! His lessons and lectures make you feel like youre not even learning. Very fun and fairly easy class. No quizzes or tests but 4-5 big papers but he walks you through everything and has a lot of peer reviews. HIGHLY RECOMMEND HIM!!!!

Professor Powers is great! If you're looking for a solid professor that cares and offers guidance, look no further. For 211 there are 2 essays, miscellaneous writing projects, and group discussion activities. Pretty easy load, but enough to keep you invested and the lectures are fun and interesting enough to attend. He's just a great guy!

Dr. Powers is a phenomenal teacher who has improved my analytical capabilities. He also made reading old and middle English much more enjoyable than they are. In addition, he also cares about his students so if you are having any difficulties, you can contact him.

he is encouraging and will not grade you for just to give you a letter but will grade you for your hard work and based on what you have learned (ex. if you made mistakes, make sure you learn from those mistakes and then leave the class by making sure you learned something in the class rather than just thinking you corrected the mistakes nd ur good

Dr. Powers is easily one of the best professors I've had, and this is coming from a student from a top high school with 14 AP tests. He is easy-to-approach, caring about his students, and the assignments are incredibly reasonable. As long as you're willing to put in the effort, this class is a breeze. Would take this class again-- twice over!

Powers is a professor you'll wish there were more of. He is articulate, inspirational, and present. Your ideas matters in his classroom, and you will involuntarily fall in love with English. If you notoriously "hate" writing papers like me, you are in for a treat. He allows you to use the momentum of your papers to aid future assignments. 10 stars.

Take this professor, I am not exaggerating when I say that his lectures are life changing. Super easy course but you will still learn. Almost a guaranteed A if you even remotely try, but you will still be challenged. There will be times when you are wrong, but as he says, its okay to be wrong but it is not okay to stay wrong.

I took Professor Powers in English 100 H and to take him again did not let me down. He is a really great teacher. You have 3 essays to do, and the last one is research wise but it is not too bad.
