She dosen't know how to conduct class corectly and is hard to understand. She flys throught the material so fast that if you are not a math person good luck.
Dr. Vajiac is a pretty fair teacher. Besides the fact that she has poor handwriting skills, lectures are very hard to follow because she talks way too fast. But the good side to her is that she seems genuinely interested in helping students..

She is hard to follow but interested in helping out everyone. The book will become your teacher.
She's a really nice person, but she can't teach. I could barely understand her and she blazes through the material. Her tests are hard, but she always adds a few points. She goes out of her way to help, though. I'm just glad the class is over for me.
She is not a good teacher. She talks way too fast, both her speech and handwriting are indecipherable. She gets frustrated when she cannot manage class (which is constantly), and when people are confused. I dropped the second day of class.
Kind of difficult to understand, sometimes doesn't listen to questions all the way through, explains topics lots of times over
She's alright, I guess. Sometimes I want to drive my pencil through her skull though.
she is ok .. uses too much terms and not enough examples in the first half of class .. but the test are only 7 questions at the most .. lets you do test correction on 2 of those to get all the points back ... and lets you drop your losest test of 3
She's really willing to help you. She isn't the best teacher though. Can't read her handwriting and since she goes fast in general that doesn't help. She does let you drop a lot of stuff to get a descent grade. She's okay i guess.
Very easy to get an A. Test corrections are the best:) She always is willing to help after class, and dont listen to the guy who dropped out the 2nd day, how would he know, he only was in her class for a day. Best teacher i had this semester.
Calculus has never been so easy. She's a pretty good teacher, and the tests are pretty easy themselves. If you don't find the tests easy, then you will love the test corrections. She also teaches Calc2, so look forward to that.
She is very nice, very helpful, gives tons of x-tra credit and test corrections she tries really hard to get you to understand and is always willing to answer questions...also she did not teach stats this semester so whoever put that did not take it now..
Not a good teahcer.
Very good teacher. always has alot of energy and passion about the subjects she teaches. open for office hours when she has time. plus the test corrections and extra credit make it an easy A.
Vajiac is funny and energetic. However, she covers only the basic info and it is up to you to figure out the more challenging problems. Test corrections really help. She often is too busy to help you very much and gets very stressed during her office hours. Take her class if you feel confident.
what a horrible professor...only interested in getting through her material...unhelpful
I've never had trouble in math before this class. It was very difficult to understand this professor and I basically had to teach myself calculus. She has long office hours, but it is difficult to get any one-on-one time with her because she constantly has other confused students to deal with.
The best class I have ever taken. I know it's math, and I usually hate it, but she makes it so enjoyable. If you ever have a questions just stop by her office. It seems like she is always there. Pushes back due dates and makes more office hours if anyone needs it. Easy to work with and encouraging
Great teacher. Very funny. She does teach a little fast sometimes which loses some students in her class. Test corrects made tests easy, and always gave us as much time on webwork as we needed. No homework was required for a grade only webwork.
In high school I loved my calculus class, but going through this calculus class was painful. She makes thing very confusing and gets up set when students don't understand her. The only reason I knew what was going on is because i took the class in high school. She does let you do test corrections.
Shes very helpful when you go into her office hours, but not very clear. She does your homework for you. You just have to tell her to slow down. She tries to give everyone as many points a possible. I got C's on all the tests and got an A in the class!
She is always willing to help and explain things over and over if you ask. Test Corrections and Test Reviews make this an easy A especially with her always being available for office hours. If you make an effort you will do really well!
Knowledgable and enthusiastic, but she talks very quickly with a heavy accent and can be difficult to understand. She tends to talk over her students heads, but is helpful one-on-one or outside of class. Not my first choice, but not a bad teacher.
She's a great person, just not always the greatest teacher. She gets into talking really fast and it can get a bit confusing. With test corrections and extra credit it isn't hard to get an A though.
She's got a thick accent. She tries to help, but sometimes can make the problem more difficult than it actually is. She's a stickler on following the proper procedure, so, if you like to skip steps, I probably wouldn't take from her. She is approachable though, and is almost always available and willing to help whether during office hours or not. Don't fool yourself though, Calc is tough, and your not going to find an "easy" professor...however, she allows test corrections..
She moves very quickly, but is also extremely precise and is available for further explanations and help outside of class. She also has a positive, energetic, and engaging personality that helped love the hell out of her classes.
Test correction rock! Although you do have to actually do them and then be able to explain them to her.
great guy
Mihaela is very helpful. She's a little fast paced, but the class is interesting, coming from a math major.
I withdrew from the class. She's very picky with Calc 1 test corrections, and the highest score on the first test was an 81 percent. She's helpful outside of class, but when you're taking many classes and are busy outside of class, it makes getting a decent grade in this class somewhat impossible. Her husband is WAY easier.
From a non math major, I can say that you should take her for this class. She offers a lot of extra credit, and you can learn a lot from her. Honestly, I never studied outside class, and I got an A. Plus, she is a really nice person.
For a calculus one class, it was the easiest advanced math class I have ever had. She never moved on without most of the class understanding something and she allowed us to have cheat sheets on our test (and final) and to redo 2 problems per test (out of 10 problems). Very good class because you learn by correcting your own mistakes.
She's not super easy nor is she super hard. Multivariable with her was interesting and fun, but sometimes she just tries to teach too much in too little time. I would recomend taking at least one class with her, you may hate her but if you don't you will get a lot out of the class.
Dr. Vajiac is really cool. She is a little vague with her lectures and she goes at a rapid pace, but she understands that most of the students in the class are not math majors so she's really helpful outside of class and is really fair. You have to take Calc as a GE, and Vajiac I would say is one of the better math teachers at Chapman.
Great teacher, motivating, a bit fast in class, but very helpful
She is a very fun teacher. She's friendly and interested in her students doing well. It was easy to do well in the class if you came and payed attention. She allowed test corrections too, and was always available for office hours.
Class is hard, duh its calculus. But she really understands most of us arent taking it for our major and she is really helpful. GO TO OFFICE HOURS AND STUDY SESSIONS!! Seriously! She will go over stuff that will be on the test! Like exact problems!!
She is a great teacher. Sheis open-minded and will extend deadlines. She dedicates many office hours and study sessions for her students. If you do the webwork plus the extra credit homework you are guaranted to do well. Her tests include 1 page notes. Recommend for as a GE teacher.
Vajiac is a very nice and caring teacher. She tries really hard to get you to understand the material and excel in her class. She is almost always available for questions during office hours. However, she has a very thick Romanian accent and moves very very fast during lectures. This makes it really difficult to follow and learn the new material.
Great Teacher! Super Helpful :)
She is very animated and excited about math, and it shows when she teaches. She may move a little fast because she gets too excited, but you just need to ask her to slow down. Her office hours are EXTREMELY helpful because she will take the time to do step-by-step problems for you. She likes to get to know her students, too.
VERY helpful and enthusiastic. She may seem intimidating and a little strict when explaining things to you; but her tests are very straight forward and off the study guide, and is lenient about test correctioins/getting points back. I ended up with 100+% in this class.
Dr. Vajiac is the most adorable woman. She's SO helpful and she goes out of her way to make sure she has enough study sessions before her exams. She allows test corrections and lets your bring in a page of notes for each exam. TAKE HER!
She goes very quickly and is fairly difficult to understand, but there is quite a bit of extra credit and if you go to office hours you should be fine.
Enthusiastic but terrible teacher. She doesn't explain what we need to know clearly, and she goes off on tangents on things that aren't necessary to know. Class average on a test was 40%. Take if confident.
You will either love her or hate her. I found her very sweet and a good teacher. She cares about her students and if she goes through things too fast, you just have to ask her to clear things up. Even if calc isn't your strong suit, you should be able to do very well in the class since she allows you to do test corrections for a lot of points.
Her being passionate in the course she was teaching made the class more enjoyable. She will drop two or so quizzes if they are your worst. She really tries to help you achieve the grade you want.
Sure she is nice, but she is quite possibly one of the worst math teachers I have ever had. She blazes through the material and is unable to simplify complicated material. And her handwriting is almost eligible. She uses an online textbook and it becomes a crutch, it hurts more then it helps. Math teacher for math majors, avoid her if possible.
Best math teacher I've ever had. She is very enthousiastic and helpfull. Take her class!!
WORST TEACHER I'VE EVER HAD. I took Calculus in high school so I know that the way she teaches is not an effective way of teaching the concept. She uses proofs to teach, when most of the students don't know how to interpret the proofs. Most concepts in homework questions and quizzes are up to the student to find and learn.
I'm a math major and the two classes I've taken with her are the ONLY two classes I've hated. Not because of the content, but because of how she portrays it. She doesn't help and gets mad when you don't understand her. She goes too fast to keep up.
Unless you like failing and not understanding any of the material, do it. But otherwise, she's the worst teacher I've ever had. Bar none.
Do the homework, and study hard, it worked for me and may work for you! Go to her office hours, and if you slip up, just let her know, she's very understanding.
She assigns a crazy amount of difficult homework. Doesn't give any partial credit on tests. Won't respond to a single email.
If you have taken calculus classes before, her MATH-210 lectures are basically review. However, I found her teaching style to be quite messy and lacking at times. That being said, ask for help, do all the homework, and do well on the weekly quizzes, and it's an easy A--unless you struggle with math, in which case: the class will be hard for you.
She is a nice lady, but a terrible professor. Although she means well, she almost always ended up confusing the class more than we already were in the first place. Do the homework on My Math Lab, it helps! Get a tutor, it also helps, but whatever you do, do not go to office hours; she will only confuse you more. As far as test go, study hard!!!
She is a very nice teacher and keeps class interesting and fun. However; she teaches based on theory and lectures are quite ambiguous and its hard to actually learn the concepts. She is very helpful and understanding with grading so go to office hours!
Honestly avoid if possible, the lectures are a complete waste of time and the only good tool is MyMathLab. She teaches based on theory and you can barely call it that. If you are looking to learn the subject at all, look elsewhere.
She's a great Professor. However, she goes a bit too fast.
Dr. Vajiac's style is fast paced and sometimes hard to follow. Her lectures often don't line up with the homework, so you have to learn how to do the homework problems on the fly. Homework often doesn't prepare you for tests, so go to her study sessions and SI. Grades with a curve luckily, and there is opportunity for extra credit.
She's a really nice lady, and definitely wants everyone to pass. Sometimes her lectures are a bit confusing - be sure to do all the MyMathLab homework. She's great to talk to about any problems outside of class.
She is a nice lady, but not a nice teacher. She assigns way much homework. I've spent all my time doing homework. She goes way too fast in lecture, and her writing is really hard to read. My grade depended on the curve and the extra credit, but I feel like I did not learn a thing.
At first, thought the class was torture... Lectures super fast, & it can be hard to keep up (cause she is a math super-genius, but we were not). But she is actually really kind and wants you to do well. U can just tell she is just very smart, and becomes frustrated when the whole class doesn't get something... Lots of extra credit opportunities!!
I ended up withdrawing from this class because there was no way I was going to pass it. I took calc 1 the pervious semester and got an A, but during the first class with Vajiac, I was totally lost. She speaks quickly and goes off on tangents frequently
A LOT of homework. Can seem very tedious but it'll help your grade to do well on the online homework and quizzes! Weekly in class "pop" quizzes, as long as you do the homework though they should be a non-issue. Dr. Vajiac is incredibly nice and wants her students to do well. Curves tests generously.
Amazing professor, great lectures and classes are very interactive
She spends the whole class time proving calculus but never really shows you how to do it. She expects a lot out of her students. She gives random quizzes all the time and her tests are extremely hard. It's really a teach yourself-class.
She is super nice and very intelligent, but her lectures are very difficult to follow. She gets side-tracked with jokes that no one understands, multiple times in the lecture. She gives tons of homework and pop quizzes. I tried really hard to enjoy this course but she made it very difficult to do so.
Dr. Vajiac's class was amazing! I enjoyed her lectures and learned so much about the "why's" and not the "how's." Not only she taught us different methods on solving calculus problems, she taught us why those methods worked using proofs. If you are looking for an engaging, challenging, and fun math class, this is the class to take.
Might be a decent person, but the most horrible professor. Horrible lecture, ridiculous amount of assignments, ineffective teaching style. Makes people hate math, despite the actual content is not that bad. Totally disgusted.
The lectures seem unorganized, which prevents you from connecting the dots and understanding the concepts holistically. Another problem was that she did not post grades until the 3rd to last week of the semester. If her teaching style does not match yours, be prepared to work harder to make up for the time wasted during lecture.
I'm seriously doubting if she is really trying to teach or just make you hate math. Her course just gives me so many pressures that I have not only once felt want to cry and throw up. Her teaching is simply not understandable, low efficiency, and not effective. She assigns so many assignments that hav more workload than the sum of all of my other
She is a nice person and can teach well but structures the class in such a way where it feels like you are teaching yourself. The lectures rarely help with the homework, there is an absurd amount of homework, and she assigns groups of assignments all at once inducing stress. She is very accessible outside class and is a reasonable grader
She's nice as a person, but I would not want her as a professor. She gives ridiculous amounts of homework and expects a lot from her students when she doesn't even teach the topic well. If a student has a question, she'll solve the problem, but doesn't give an explanation on how to really do it. She also moves on really fast in her lectures.
Will never take her class again. She doesn't even really teach the material in class. All she does is solve problems on the board without even explaining how to solve the problem, which is why you would have to learn all the material on your own outside of class. Also late to every class. Never grades homework.
I would only recommend taking one of her courses if you get a class slot over 1 hour in duration. She goes sort of fast during the lectures but is helpful and understandable if you're paying attention. Somewhat understandably, isn't as responsive as other professors via E-mail / Canvas. Much too much homework, and she grades it EXTREMELY SLOW.
She's really nice and funny and cares about math but is not a good teacher. Ridiculous amounts of homework, Like 3 problem sets due in one day over spring break, but then takes forever to grade. Bad at explaining. She gives a bit of extra credit and curves a lot so you probably won't fail (I definitely should have lol) just be sure to study a lot.
this is the worse teacher in math I have ever had in all my years of living. If you told me what I learned in class and my life depended on it, I wouldn't be able to tell you. Class is structured in such weird ways that I don't know when we are moving on to new topics. The level of difficulty in class is not the same as tests or homework.
She has very good energy. Math115 is a hard class, but I think it would have been much harder if she didnt have her energy. She got me to participate and held my attention for most of the 1.5 hour class. There was a lot of material to cover, and she talked at a mile a minute for the whole class, and was able to cover it all. I was very impressed!
She goes way too fast, and goes over so many details. But it is not clear. She is not good at examples, it is all technical and theoretical.
lectures are kind of all over the place and i never understand anything in class so i have to spend a lot of time outside of class teaching myself. also theres a lot of hw. shes funny so at least not super boring. also she curves tests and offers corrections so thats a BIG plus. we had like 3 quizzes through the semester and they were very light.
terrible communication and rude to students
