gosh! i hate the guy. what bothers me about him is that he thinks the really hard stuff is all easy and jokes which makes me feel stupid sometimes.

He was a great teacher, who has a great sense of humor and enjoys what he does. He knows what he is talking about and is able to explain a concept in different ways if you do not understand.
He was a great professor and made Calculus something that you can actually understand. He always had time for students and made his finals/midterms from the concepts we ACTUALLY learned in class

The man is a genius. He knows his stuff better than anyone I've seen at the school, he is hilarious, efficient and phenomenal at explaining something in different ways. He is my favorite prof so far and truly a great prof. QUIET DOWN CHILDREN!!! DO IT!!!!
Goes really fast over the concepts in class and is sometimes hard to keep up with. Other than that no complaints
Took both Calc I and Calc II with him. The guy knows his stuff but really seems to push to finish early so her can go for a smoke. He does examples in class but it can be tough to keep pace. I highly recommend putting extra time studying into this class and attending every lecture possible. Also bring gum ...you'll see why.
Mihai is by far the best prof at UOIT. Honestly i learn best from him. If im ever confused about a question and i ask him, he explains it so well. I enjoy taking classes with him. I'll also say he is very funny and keeps the class going. Class with mihai is something i'd never skip!!! :D

not a good proff ,his TA are worst its like he is a symbol of faliure at uoit .He jokes alot during his class .Go through his lecture and youll be like lost .Differential was an interesting course but due to this guy i started hating it would not reccomend him deffinately .
Mihai may not be the most passionate man in teaching but he is for sure a university type of professors. I like his sense of humor and he is always a great help in office hours. Would take another class with him for sure.
He is better than most profs, but his examples and the way he teaches is hard to understand. He usually skips a lot of minor steps and remarks that should be made, that makes the subject really harder to learn for the first time.
Mihai was a good professor, and taught a challenging course to the best of his abilitles. He is a funny guy, and sometimes finishes lectures half an hour early. I would definitely have him as a prof again
The professor is often referred to as the legend and for good reason, he has a unique way of blending humor and conveying the material. If you don't show up and pay attention in his class you're just wasting your money. His tests are encompassing and you need to know your stuff. He will remark peoples entire papers to reduce mark begging. A+ prof.
Quiet down children! Mihai is one of the best prof's i've had the pleasure of having at UOIT. His method of teaching is not for everyone. He is actually a genius and hilarious.
The class was hard and boring, but the prof was OK. I don't know anyone who would teach this in a more interesting way....
M. Beligan was an amazing professor this semester. He took the time to explain the material well - and did it with enthusiasm and a good knowledge background. Not a class went by went he didn't make someone laugh or say "bless you" when someone sneezed :) Amazing prof and all round great guy.
He is funny but that's not what you need in Calculus. He has a good knowledge but fails to explain thoroughly. Office hours are available but he doesn't take them seriously, answering questions in 20 words.
Mihai is funny, extremely knowledgeable and always willing to help you out if you need it. As long as you go to his lecs and do his examples + homework you'll be fine
He was a funny guy and a good prof. He goes through the lecture material very fast but in a good way. Make sure you take down notes and do all the homework.
Mihai is a joker, but a great prof that has a true fetish for proofs. Mihai covers topics thoroughly and gives you great examples for midterms/exams. If you take good notes in his classes you have NOTHING to worry about when it comes to assessments.

Mihai is a good professor, although his examples could be quite difficult. He makes a boring and difficult course fun by being an awkwardly funny person. If someone asks him questions, he does a good job answering them. I would definitely have him for other math courses if possible.
He is able to explain the topics quite clearly. Also he keeps the class alive due his humorous nature.
By far one of my favourite profs at UOIT!Mihai takes boring/dull material and makes lectures interesting. His sense of humor also creates a great atmosphere in the classroom. Hes not for everyone, but I find he is great at simplifying harder concepts while making learning enjoyable. Take a course taught by him any chance you get!

Mihai is Mihai, you won't find an amazing professor like him anywhere. Not saying he is the greatest, but he is a special professor that you will never forget him.
I have never met a prof who actually made me like going to class, Mihai is super down to earth . His lectures are extremely detailed to the point you don't really need the textbooks. His midterm and finals are straight forward and does not hit you with unfamiliar content. He gives participation marks so make sure you go to class!
Makes me actually want to tune in and sit through online lectures which really says something. funny teacher too, explains concepts well
Try to learn the topics BEFORE lectures, as Mihai's pace makes it very hard to comprehend the material during lectures. He zooms past definitions with very technical terms and does examples very quickly with little explanations. Also, in-class quizzes are horrid, especially when you can't absorb his pacing/the material asap.

Does not check chat frequently, missing questions from students. In class or after class quizzes that most students struggle with and have minimal time to prepare for. Assignments are individual are worth much less than quizzes but yet students are graded in groups. Course offered with MATH2050 and quizzes and tests include content from MATH2050
This guy isn't a bad person just a bad teacher. He is funny in the wrong ways. Had to grind this course and learned nothing. I needed some of the course material for future courses and he ruined that for me. If there is another option professor wise take that instead of him. Not saying he's a bad person, just a uncaring teacher.
He is not good for people going into the class not knowing much, he mainly does examples in class but at his own pace and i found him very hard to follow, even asking questions in his calc class did not help because his explanations were very poor. If you liked his class, you probably took a calc before and did well because i had to teach myself
His lectures are ok but move at a speedy pace. He replies quickly, gives bonus marks, grades fairly and lets you book appointments. His after lecture quizzes lower your grade, multiple-choice answers are a question of their own, avg time per question in tests is awful considering he uses math editor a ot, and weekly quizzes are due at awkward times
Mihai is such an awesome prof idk why these 2 people said he was awful. Those 2 are probably lazy or didn't work hard because Mihai actually teaches the material clear. He is a nice guy who loves to interact with his students but still teaches calculus at such a good level. Never lose ur way Mihai! You a real one!
Vey fast paced professor and his explanations are out of this word. You would understand only if you have major in Math i guess. The tests are hard and kind of less time than required. I understand it's online but atleast allow for breathing period my jesus.
This prof explains things very clearly, and has a good sense of humour. Grading in this course was very generous.
Mihai Beligan is an amazing professor . I came into calc 2 with the assumption that it would be much harder than calc 1 but that fear vanished instantly when I attended Mihai's lectures. He has a very good teaching style that eases your mind after every lecture. Choose him as your professor when registering for courses and you won't regret it.
Hes bad
You will either hate him or love him. There is no in-between. If you want a teacher who is funny, and gets straight to the point and calculation processes quickly, Mihai's your guy. If you want a teacher who explains every step to the finest detail, find another teacher.
Best Professor you'll ever get. Seriously amazing. Will try his best to get you the best grade possible. If you're looking for a good semester, take his course.
He teaches simple stuff which doesn't prepare you for his quizzes or tests. All his quiz & test questions are hard with lots of curve balls. About 80% of his multiple choice questions are questions with multiple answers. You have to go through each option for each question to make sure you don't miss all the possible answers for the question.
Mihai is a good teacher who cares about his students , is helpful and understanding. However, his quizzes and exams are challenging. This is mainly because majority of his questions are multiple multiple choices type, which need more time than a single answer multiple choice question. The time given though is usually not enough to do each choice.
Ok Teacher, make sure you do questions very quickly has the time he gives for tests are pretty short. However if you study hard enough and attend every lecture, you will most likely be fine.
His multiple multiple choice questions contain multiple multiple answers. He also puts lecture content on the tests which is challenging for many students because they don't attend lectures. Lecture content shouldn't be on a test smh my head. Mihai best prof. We stan Mihai.
This prof does not care about students, punishes everybody over one persons mistake. Also, he makes all his tests multiple choice select all that apply, so it takes up all the time going through every question which makes it hard to finish on time. Wouldn't recommend you take this course if he is your professor.
Professor is nice enough, but doesn't really matter when the course is put together so poorly. Tutorial is a full waste of time, just a TA doing their own lecture but this time its on three full lectures and we only have 50 minutes. Tests and quizzes have pretty difficult multiple multiple choice, with very little time to actually do the material.
Man has jokes, pretty funny. midterms are nothing alike studied the earlier midterms and they had it easy compared to our current one besides that good prof but goofy tests
The quizzes/tests are much more difficult then what is taught in the lecture. The midterm had questions that were inconsistent to the homework questions and midterm practises given to us. The weekly quizzes give us far far too little time to solve all the multiple choice questions given. :(

Mihai displays a lack of courtesy by openly singling out and addressing his students.
Great prof! If you go to the lectures, do the homework, ask for help when you need it, skip the tutorials because they are a waste of time and read all the possible answers on the "multiple multiple choice" then you will be fine. People need to study more instead of whining online. Then maybe they won't fail the next midterm.
1. Mihai is not a good prof. He teaches one simple thing which you can understand but then gives never seen before questions on the test. One would think they can do better on the multiple choice then the written but he seems to have most of his multiple choice questions as select all, which can get very confusing and take up a lot of time.
Great prof and easy class to pass. No you wont get a A+ but an easy B. All you need to do is try your best!
See the thing is the guy is not a bad person, funny and cracks jokes but can't teach for his life. Since the day the class started this guy has been teaching himself and not the class, doesn't care to introduce the topic and build onto that instead assumes people have prior degree in discrete math and goes onto the examples.
Mihai is a nice person, but his lectures are brutal. He teaches you one concept, but barely explains it. When people have questions, he does not address them or do his best to help you understand things. Isn't that what a teacher is supposed to do? Also, his exams have content that was not covered in his lectures.
Mihai is incredibly entertaining and gives some good advice when asked. His lectures can be extremely fast-paced, and it can be difficult to keep up at times. However, when it came to his exams, I found them to be quite simple and followed what was taught in lecture. Overall, pretty solid professor.
He's a decent professor for Linear Algebra. Great personality and humour. I'm just a big fan of his lecturing or his grading. I found it can be very hard to keep up because he moves too fast, and I think people would benefit from him slowing down. I'm not sure I'd want to take a class with him again but there are worse options.
Mihai is a fine person but I think he needs to work on improving this class. It's already tough content as is but he doesn't really do enough to help students succeed in it. You really have to prepared to have a hard time and in my case it came at the sacrifice of other classes. I will praise his final exam was basic content and it wasn't terrible.
Although I failed this class prior before this year, he is a funny guy, I just wished he would state what is actually on the exam I studied a ton of extra chapters and i wished i just knew what he wanted me to do.
His lectures can be a bit fast-paced and it is quite a theory-dense course, but he helps lighten up the mood by cracking up some jokes or answering any questions we may have. I really liked that he gave us refills for coffee from his thermos almost every lecture. If you care about working hard in the course, then Mihai will treat you well!
Coming out of Calc2, thought Calc3 would be nightmarish hard, but Mihai taught it so well and made things smooth like a breeze through his lectures. I love his active reviews + assignments as a good heads up of what midterms are like. I enjoyed the course well and I'll say he's as good math teacher as Paula Dicato at UOIT. Thumbs up Mihai! :)
Calculus 2 covers a lot, but Mihai covers the content very well, and makes all of his lectures enjoyable

Why he always has to go on tangents, If you are taking a small class with him, you are done. He should consider a career as stand-up comedian, but too bad I am not paying for a comedy show. He is a great teacher for this course
He maybe a bit scary to most people at first when he catches the students talking, but after that you will understand how much of a great teacher. The course itself is hard but Mihai at least takes notes. If you dont understand the course you can personally go to his office hours for help, which he does perfectly.
Mihai is truly one of one. By far my favourite prof at OTU. He makes difficult courses for enjoyable and really cares about his students. He clears up any confusion in office hours and will always accommodate you. The best of the best!!!
Honestly, he was an excellent prof; I could understand the points he was trying to teach us. If I can take another course with him, I definitely will.
I thought he was nice but not great at teaching and explaining. I attended another profs lecture once and the content made so much more sense than when he taught. He also explains topics as if everyone has taken linear algebra, when many have not which makes the material that much more confusing.
Good prof, he throws a ball at you if you start talking. Just do the homework, make sure you understand the lecture notes, and you'll succeed.
Awesome prof, goes very in-depth into solutions during his lectures and is always willing to help out students whenever they need. His tests and assignments can be hard but if you study his lecture notes and go to office hours you should have no problem with them.
Mihai is one of the funniest professors I have ever had. With that said, this isn't a comedy show and he can't teach to save his life. He goes over completely irrelevant examples in class, his term tests are completely unfair and unrelated to any of his lectures, and he gives 0 practice. 100% the worst prof at the school, AVOID AT ALL COSTS!
I found this professor to be lacking in a number of areas when it came to exams and any testing material, his reviewing methods were insufficient. The exam we took as a class was poor to say the least with organizational issues regarding how it was setup which resulted in needless distraction during the course of the exam.
Mihai is all right in terms of teachings. But when it comes to midterms, he makes it very hard and impossible to pass the course. I would not recommend for any students to take his class as it will make you want to cry or throw something across the room such as your laptop. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS!

I mean, he's alright, like... overrated AF IMO, I mean... Y'know what though, that's typically how the BS goes, you feel me?
I like Mihai, he makes difficult topics easy to understand and provides plenty of practice material. However, he's disorganized, leading to mistakes like impossible questions and wrongly marked quiz answers. He shines when just teaching, without managing Canvas, but sometimes gets distracted, leaving unfinished notes to carry over to the next class
oooooh man where do I even begin? It's 2 am and exam is tomorrow! Gonna be tempted to jump in front of the train tomorrow but lets see where life takes us. The prof is a cool dude but his teaching methods are not cool! He teaches like this is everyone's 3rd time taking the class, and doesn't properly go over the material during lectures.
Avoid this professor at all costs. During lectures, he assumes we already know everything. He embarrasses students who leave early by staring and joking, “Time for a quiz now.” His jokes are terrible. During the final, always on his phone, took a call beside us, and left us relying on TAs. By the end, fewer than 50 of 200+ students remained.
Calc is already hard, and I wish he was clearer to make things a bit easier. In class he makes jokes which is fun, but when it comes down to it if you really have a question he does explain it well, just wished that was his general approach since some are a bit shy to ask at times. Soon many quizzes so it's a bit tough ngl
Mihai is a good prof when he has enough time to teach. I can appreciate him connecting with students and his humour, but lectures are not long enough for this so he ends up rushing to finish, meaning he won't fully go in depth for certain questions/concepts. Assignments sometimes required additional research outside of lesson material.
Ive taken 4 courses with Mihai. He is hilarious and his classes are fun. He loves connecting with his students. Midterms/Assignments are always fair and similar to previous years. Mihai is brilliant at math - this much is clear, however his work ethic + organization are very poor. He takes pride in being lazy and careless sometimes lmao
Teaches nothing. Introduces everything in exams. WORST PROF EVER!
Discrete Math is never an easy course. However, it is made much harder if you are unlucky enough to be taught by Prof. Beligan. The notes are unnecessarily complicated and he makes no effort to clarify them. His teaching style consists of reading straight off the lecture. The exam questions were also horribly difficult, unlike the homework given.
This professor creates an unhealthy "boys club" atmosphere in class, is lazy when correcting mistakes on quizzes/tests, and makes students feel silly for asking simple questions. His lectures are disorganized, and his notes are terrible. His teaching is not inclusive to neurodivergent students, though he is somewhat helpful during office hours.
I don't care about whether he is a good teacher or not; he has all my respect. Best wishes to him.
He has the highest expectations but as a result you will learn the most. There are so many available resources to do well in his class, including an abundance of office hours for questions. If you want to learn math and build a strong foundation he's the best professor to pick. His lectures are also really good.
