Dr. Czako teaches the second half of Bio 102 for Dr. Duggins. His tests are completely different than Duggins's tests. However, they are easier because it's multiple choice and the questions are based off of power points that he provides through blackboard. Read over the power points a few times and you will be fine. BUT DO NOT SKIM, actually READ!
Awesome teacher! Do the homework & take the in class quizzes & you will do WELL on the exams. The book is a must have but you can use older versions. This is not an easy class but he makes sure you have everything you need to do well. He is so patient & incredibly nice. His accent is easy to adjust to. I definitely recommend him for this class!
He literally reads off the powerpoint slides and is very confusing. A super nice guy but you will be teaching yourself the material. if you need help he will help you and also he lets you know when he will give a pop quiz for extra points
Reads straight off the powerpoints, quite confusing and has thick accent. Currently getting an A in his class without ever going to class because I'm teaching myself the material instead. Super nice guy though.
Prof Czako is super nice. He does have a thick accent but you can understand him. He does read straight off the powerpoint. He truly does care for his students and wants the m to pass. He gives pops quizzes but they are for extra credit on the test. He doing everything he can to ensure students pass! I have a High B right now without the extra cred
He is a very nice man and great outside of class but his lectures are extremely boring and it's difficult to pay attention the whole time. His accent doesn't help. The good thing is all the powerpoints are posted online and there are several extra credit opportunities.
He's a funny guy and would be cool to get lunch with, but I would never want to have him as a teacher again. His accent makes it really hard to listen to and understand him. He reads straight of off the power points. If you take this class, be prepared to teach yourself the entire semester. I used a lot of online resources.
Hey is a really funny guy and the tests are not terribly difficult if you study. However he has a thick accent and he can be difficult to understand. His class is so big that it is tough to get to know him, so make sure you go to office hours.
He clearly knows what he is talking about in lecture, it is just too bad no one else can understand him. He is a nice person, but I would recommend staying away from his class if you can, but it's not the end of the world if you have to take it. His tests are extremely hard and no not come from material covered in class, so study outside sources.
Dr. Czako is had to understand due to his accent, but he is very nice and easy!! Most his exams were just like our SI practice exams. If you go by his office, he will remember you and help you out at the end of the semester, if you need it. I would definitely recommend him for someone looking for an easy B or A.
His accent is very thick, so it's very hard to understand him. If you are good at teaching yourself the material, then this class should be easy. He curved the tests tremendously and gave lots of extra credit. Study the lecture notes and powerpoints.
Hard to understand but test are easy. Go to SI and you will get an A.
Very much a self taught class. He was really hard to understand but I mainly taught myself the whole semester. If you work hard studying for each test and do every extra credit opportunity you will end up with an A. He drops a lot of questions on tests (the final exam he dropped 29 and I got an 105%).
He's really hard to understand; tests have nothing to do with the lectures and they're the only grades.
Dr. Czako gives you everything you need in order to pass but it's up to you to do the work. The textbook is a must; everything covered in class is in it with a few exceptions. He has an accent but his english is perfect so it's easy to understand him. He uses PowerPoint but he at least adds insight to it. Overall very nice guy who actually cares.
Dr. Czako is a really nice guy!! Class isn't mandatory, he does powerpoints, however you need to read them many times!! Was really worried when I made a 50 on the first test, however he drops the lowest, offers extra credit, and the tests get easier!! He also helps you if you go to his office hours!!
Prof. Czako has a deep accent that makes it impossible to understand him during lecture. Be ready to teach yourself everything!! Class consists of 4 tests (lowest is dropped) & final exam. Go to office hours, some extra credit is given, tests are directly from powerpoints (A LOT of info though) and used the book maybe 3x during the semester
He has a thick accent. If you attend enough lectures, you will begin to understand. I did not go to class, I just took notes on the powerpoint at home and reviewed videos on the internet.
His lectures are boring, but his exams are the easiest things ever!! He uses questions from past exams all the time! And go to SI before the exam because he uses questions from the SI worksheet too. Yes his lectures are boring and long, but if study, you WILL make an A!
super nice guy, his lecture can drone sometimes and his accent takes some getting used to but its not bad. u honestly dont even have to show up for most lectures and ull still pass from just going over powerpoints and si worksheets before exams. would definatly take him again
Don't even bother going to class. Puts all powerpoints up on blackboard and is very hard to understand. Just look over notes and go to si and you'll be fine. Drops the lowest score which is very helpful.
His practice exams are like the real exams -- some questions are even reused. Replaces lowest grade with final if higher.
He's not very hands-on, nor does he give study guides or exam help. You have your SI leaders, and while their exam reviews are cleared by Czako, they are usually only a percentage of the exam. The lectures are super boring and he is not very amusing. You will need to apply yourself for this course.
I absolutely LOVED this teacher. Everyday after class I would go and talk to him and he is the nicest guy ever. He cares about his students and is always there when you need help with anything in the class. To be fair, the class is tough but if you're dedicated and work for it, you will be fine. An amazing guy though, one of my favorite professors.
The lectures are so horribly boring and you really don't have to show up if you get someone to text you the tophat attendance code. His tests are pretty hard and are all multiple choice with about 75 questions.
He's a really nice, caring guy if you truly listen to him; however: his lectures are so long and boring, it is definitely hard to pay attention. He is Hungarian, so his accent makes zoning out a lot easier. Tests are pretty difficult, I study for about 4-5 hours for each test and have only managed to get B's. The SI sessions before the exams help
His accent can be a bit thick. All of his materials are on TopHat and Blackboard, but you have to pay for TopHat and it's not optional. Attendance is counted through TopHat everyday, so you have to show up to class. A few EC opportunities are available. Tests follow material fairly well, but don't think you can get away without studying a good bit.
Dr. Czako is the man, its just too bad you cant understand him. He means well and knows what hes talking about, but if you're not used to a Hungarian accent, going to the lecture is almost pointless. Tests are pretty challenging, so be prepared to study 4-5 hours for each exam. But if you put in the time you should get an A or B.
The class is 5 tests, including the final, but the lowest is dropped. He posts all the notes online and attendance is taken, but it's just a TopHat code. I rarely went to class, studied all the notes 2 or 3 days prior to the exam, and got A's and B's. The class is easy if you just study his notes. Take him if you want to put in minimal effort.
This class was kind of rough to begin with. He has a thick accent which can be difficult to understand, and his lectures tend to drone on (he's a really nice/funny guy though). Attendance is taken via top hat, but I don't think he counts it and honestly if you just study easy notecards and the notes he puts online you wont have a problem passing
He definitely means well, super sweet guy when you can understand him. He has a really thick Hungarian accent. You can get away without going to class as long as you have someone give you the code. A few EC opportunities. Don't expect to do well in bio in general, especially with this professor. 200+ people in the class and the test are hard.
He is a very nice but hard to understand. If you study his powerpoints and know everything on his slides as well as study easy notecards for the textbook and go to SI sessions you will be fine. The textbook is to needed. Go to class for the attendance code or have someone else check you in. He drops your worst test grade. Be prepared to study a lot
Here's the breakdown: The guy has a foreign accent. It's strong, so don't be surprised when you don't understand him at the beginning. You'll get used to it eventually. He's a nice guy, and does a great job teaching if you go to his office hours. He drops your lowest test and attendance isn't really required since it's done online. Good guy, try.
He does take attendance but uses TopHat. Make a friend in the class & they can just text you the attendance code and you can enter it on your phone. All powerpoints are online, he reads them word for word in a v monotone voice. First 2 exams were straight from the powerpoints & easy, the other 2 were more application based. He drops the lowest exam
Czako has a thick accent so its basically impossible to understand him in lectures so theres no point in going. The class is based on the exams so study the notes he posts online from lectures and the easy notecards from the textbook because he uses exact questions from that. I taught myself in this class and got an A. he also curves exam grades
terrible and boring lectures because you can't understand him. never tells you whats on the exams except for the chapter numbers which he expects you to know completely inside and out. even went to his office hours and he was very unclear.
If you take Czako's class the only thing you will need is easy note cards. His exams are solely based off of this website. Extra credit definitely helped me a lot. If he gives out practice exams then you should study them because they really help.
Nice guy but has a language barrier and lectures drag out. Uses tophat, but gives a decent bit of a curve for beginner BIO classes.
Honestly, he's not a good teacher but his class is really easy as long as you go to SI and read over the power-points. No need to show up to class you'll learn more by not going. But he's so sweet whenever you have any problem with studying and is more than willing to work with you on anything. He drops your lowest test score & gives extra credit
He has a very thick accent, but that honestly doesn't matter. This class is basically self taught. If you go to the SI sessions, read the text book, and look over the power points he post online then you should do well. This class is purely memorization. He cares about how the students do, so if you struggle take the opportunity to meet with him.
if you haven't taken basic biology before, dont start with czako. very sweet man and he really means well, but exams make 0 sense. use easynotecards!! the questions on the exams are straight from them! got an 100 on the final because he gave out a practice exam. if you want to UNDERSTAND the material, take another professor. strict memorization.
You can barely understand him and unless you're ready to memorize the textbook/power points, do not take him. I am a biology major and BARELY got by with a B. DO NOT take him. He is really nice but a horrible teacher.
I attended 90% of the lectures for this course. I took detailed notes, and attended SI sessions. I'm a straight A student. His lectures were almost impossible to follow, and the material covered in lecture was rarely what was actually on the tests. Avoid him if possible.
Prof Czako is a super sweet guy; however, is accent mixed with a microphone makes everything he says super hard to understand. On top of this, his lectures are usually pretty scrambled and he moves super quickly. I took him for Bio 101 and 102 and unless you want to learn nothing while memorizing easy notecards, do not take him. Tons of EC!!
I loved Czako, you can tell he actually cares about his students and will help you if you're struggling and go talk to him. his lectures dont help on exams too much, so make sure you go on easy note cards cause questions come straight from there. SI helped, & I've gotten 3 A's and a C on the exams and he drops our lowest grade!!
Czako is a very funny and great professor. Yes, this is not an easy class, but I don't believe that's because of him. He does have an accent, but I did not find it difficult to understand compared with some other profs iv'e had! His tests aren't TOO difficult, though challenging, but he does his best to make exam day relaxed and not intimidating!
I loved having Dr. Czako as a professor. He would grade our exams in one evening, hand them back, and let you correct them for 70% of your points back, ON TOP of a curve. There is a little homework to do, but you literally just write stuff down and turn it in and get credit. He is very respectful and cares about our opinions. Would take again!
Dr. C's exams are based strictly off of Mastering Biology homework and the textbook. Reading and taking notes on the textbook definitely will not hurt your grade, but isn't necessarily requires to pass the class. He also loves playing science parody songs, which are quite funny. If you skip class, definitely not the end of the world. Super nice guy
Couldn't understand a word he said all semester. Was super unclear about what would be on the tests. Avoid him!
Czako is a caring professor but his lectures are boring. He has a strong accent that can be confusing. He basically reads his powerpoints in class that can also be read at home. His exams do not go along with his lectures. Attendance and participation will be taken through tophat. Multiple extra credit opportunities are given throughout.
Dr. C is an amazing biology professor. He has a thick accent, but you just need to take notes and attend the review SI sessions before exams. His exams are straight from the practice exam he gives out. He will help you in any way possible, and makes class fun with silly music videos he loves. He is an amazing professor.
Professor C is an awesome guy and he's phenomenally passionate about biology but his thick accent makes him hard to understand a lot of the times. His tests are just like his practice exams so memorize but the course is an overload of information. He does drop the lowest exam grade. And its extremely easy to get distracted in his class so beware.
He is a very sweet man. He emails back pretty fast and he is always willing to help. Although his lectures are pretty boring, most of the tests come from Mastering Biology homework and Easy Notecards. He is very lenient with due dates if you talk to him (homework, extra credit) and you can tell he really cares about his students. He's really funny.
Mihaly, what a legendary man. You can try to understand him, but you will fail. Your patience will run thin and you will stop straining your ears after 2 weeks. Despite not being able to understand him, he grades easy and gives so much extra credit. You can get all Cs on exams and get an A. He's so nice and understanding.
Very nice guy however has a thick accent. Lectures can be very boring. Major points come from Top Hat and Mastering Biology. Exams are hard but they mostly come from easy notecards and mastering biology. Be ready to read a lot and teach yourself if you can't pay attention to lecture.
He is a really good guy, cares about your grade and gives lots of extra credit opportunities, but lectures are a drag. Extremely monotoned and lectures are extremely boring, he just reads straight from his powerpoints. Take someone else if you want to actually learn something instead of just memorizing easy notecards for exams.
I LOVE DR. CZAKO!! his lectures are often hard to follow or understand but show up to class to get marked present and just play on your computer. His test questions come straight from easy notecards so just memorize the notecards for each chapter before the test and you'll be fine. He is so sweet and he really cares about his students.
Great man. Very caring. If you reach out to him, he is the most understanding man. Gives lots of extra credit so failing is virtually impossible. Think accent though so hard to understand during lecture.
Czako is not the best teacher. He lectures the entire class and he has a thick accent. However, he is extremely understanding and really wants you to do well. Attendance is required through Tophat but the lectures did not benefit me at all. A ton of extra credit is offered so failing is almost impossible. Study easy notecards for exams!!!!
Easy class, there are 4 exams and the lowest one is dropped. However if you're content with all 4 exam grades you don't need to take the final. All of the test questions are from easynotecards and attendance is taken through Tophat.
Somewhat difficult to follow along due to his accent, but he only reads off powerpoint during class, which he later posts online for students to view. He does take attendance every class through TopHat. Four exams are taken throughout the course, but the lowest is dropped. **Provides MANY extra credit opportunities**
Class is an easy A! All you have to do is read the chapters and then complete the easynotecards and mastering biology right after reading. All questions come word for word from those. Keep in mind there are a lot of questions, but if you read each day and do about 15 questions per day, you will make a 100 in the class. He also offers a ton of EC!!
as a biology major this may be biased, but in his 101 class, I was sure I was going to have the "new year/new me" kind of attitude most freshmen have. However, after the first few lectures of taking notes, I realized how easy the material was SO LONG AS YOU HAVE TAKEN ANY BIO CLASS BEFORE. I used my phone all/every class and had 108 before the exam
one of the hardest classes i have ever taken. I switched my major from biology to sociology because of this class. You have to learn all of the material by yourself. (Also, beware of Prof. C's heavy hungarian accent... It was not a problem for me but at times he can be difficult to understand if you aren't paying attention)
Dr. C is a very caring professor. He tries to make lecture fun and amusing even if the content isn't. attendance is mandatory her takes it with TopHat but forgets on some days. His tests come straight from the homework and practice tests. Reading the textbook is how I passed the class. gives extra credit. super nice dude
Dr. Czako is VERY caring and understanding. He is willing to work with you and tries his best to make his class fun. His attendance is mandatory. If you understand the slides and homework then you will do VERY well on his exams. He offers a ton of extra credit. For example, on one exam I got a 105% because of the extra credit problems. TAKE HIM!!
Really good professor who cares about his students, I had him for BIOL 102. He would have exams posted within 24 hours from the start of each exam and cures the exam. There is a good amount of homework but it will definitely prepare you for the exam. (Do the practice test which are a few questions from the actual exam)
I had Dr. Czako for Bio102 this semester, and enjoyed every minute of his class. Exams were not too hard, as long as you are willing to fully understand the material in the lecture slides! Dr. Czako truly cares about his students, as I went to his office hours to go over one of my exams more. If you care about your grade, you will do well.
Dr. C is an amazing professor. Yes, he has an accent but with time it's easy to understand. There is a lot of homework, but it helps prepare you for his exams. He also uploads practice problems that are a big help while studying for exams. Uses tophat and the tests are largely based off of the slides. He cares and is very understanding; big heart.
Very nice man. Cares a lot abut his students success. Gives a lot of extra credit. Very lecture heavy but his lectures are very boring. He has a thick European accent. occasionally very mono tone. Recommend going to his office hours. His tests are hard.
He is a nice professor. Lectures are pretty boring, he uses tophat for his slides. If you study the mastering bio you'll do fine on the exams. Overall recommend, much easier than other professors.
This is my second class with Czako. His accent can be very hard to understand. He used tophat for lecture and attendance; lecture is boring. Lots of mastering biology HW but useful to prepare for exams. He is always offering extra credit. He is very kind and is always willing to work with students.
Professor Czako's lectures can be boring, but he is more than helpful if you ask for it. Exams are pretty straight forward. Tells you what you need to know, and doesn't try to trick you. Taken him for Bio 102 and Anatomy 243L and he's great. I've gotten B+ in both classes. If you show you care, he'll care.
He is the sweetest man ever. He cares so much about his students. You can email him about anything and he will respond within 10 minutes despite all the students he has. The actual class is difficult as any biology class would be, but the exams are straight-forward as long as you study. The lecture is boring but all you have to do is show up.
Dr. Czako is awesome. His lectures are mandatory and hard to understand, but if you talk to him one on one, he's super caring and always willing to help you out. He'll extend the due dates for homework and extra credit you miss, and is always willing to count you present to a lecture if you miss attendance. Study the HW and you'll get a good grade!
I had an A in the class for the whole semester, the only reason I got a B was that I got sick and missed my chance with the final. Other than that, all of his exams were just like the mastering biology homework practice he would assign us before each exam. It is long, but a portion of them are straight copied to the exam. He also extends deadlines!
Always willing to help if you ask.
Professor Czako is a really great professor, he loves to crack jokes and be silly with the class. His lectures are very boring, he stands at the bottom of the classroom and lectures off of the powerpoints. This semester he used tophat for attendance and questions, four exams, straight from mastering biology. He drops your lowest grade and allows EC
He used top hat for attendance, 2/4 of our exams were online due to the hurricane so that was pretty great. He drops the lowest exam grade. You dont have to go to the lectures since he has his slides on top hat and thats what he reads off of. Overall hes an amazing teacher and Im definitely taking him for bio 102!
Lectures for the whole 3 hour lab. Exams or quizzes every week and sometimes it is so much material. Doesn't match up at all with the lecture, basically just another class that is more work than lecture bio and less credits. Lab class is so boring and he is hard to understand. Don't listen, because you are just going to memorize it on your own.
Dr. Czako is really boring during his lectures, but he posts every powerpoint on TopHat so you don't have to constantly pay attention in class. He also takes attendance through TopHat so you lose some points if you don't show up. Most people get the attendance code and then leave. He gives extra credit after every test so it's possible to pass.
No matter who you take for lab you're going to have to study a lot because it's hard, but Mihaly's labs are basically just 3 hour lectures where he rambles on and on. He's a nice guy, but his class is beyond boring. You can study his powerpoints at home for an hour and understand what he teaches in 3. Save your time.
Hard to understand. Wasnt quite sure what he was talking about most of the time. Does allow extra credit because the tests are 60 questions and are extremely difficult. I always attended class but i wouldnt learn anything & would ended up teaching all the material to my self via the powerpoints
Dr. Czako is incredibly monotone and often rambles about things that aren't really relevant to the exam. However, he is one of the sweetest and most caring professors you'll have. His exams are straight off of the homework, but you'll have to teach yourself everything. It's not hard to make an A if you study. Incredibly kind, but bad lecturer
He is soo helpful and will always respond to your emails quickly. He plays fun youtube videos during class and is hilarious. The class isn't the easiest but he makes it fun.
The class is easy if you go and do all of the homework. The workload is not too hard and he is super understanding. Very sweet guy and helps students because he wants them to do well.
Dr. C is a super friendly guy, but his lectures are very boring. His study guides will get you through the class and he offers plenty of extra credit. He is going to get you an A if you put in the effort, but I did not actually learn that much in the class (it was more of learn what the answer is not actually learning concepts.
Dr. Czako cares a lot of his students. He wants us to get good grades, so he gives us a lot of extra credit opportunities. Do flashcards before exams for extra credit! Material is really difficult and dense. Our exams were online and take-home. Tests are hard, so I would recommend doing all the extra credit. He's really funny. HW are easy pts.
Nicest professor ever! He cares so much about his students, so he gives a ton of extra credit. Takes attendance so show up. Homework really helps for his test, some questions are exactly what you've done. Pay attention, it helps.
Dr. C is such a sweet person. He begins class with funny Youtube videos and music; he's honestly a child at heart. He is super passionate about biology and it is reflected in his class. His lectures are quite boring, but he encourages questions and engagement. Exams are semi-difficult, but a couple were online. Always willing to help if you ask.
Exremely nice guy and cares about how you do in the class. Multiple chances for extra credit; he even gives you an opportunity to recieve extra credit on the final exam.
I had no problem with this professor the entire year, until at the end he put in my homework grade as something super low when i was expecting much higher. He was not very clear with what parts of the homework were for grades and what wasnt. be careful and do the follow-ups. Also, some things were labeled as extra credit, but still counted as 0s
Dr. Czako is the nicest professor ive ever met. He is such a caring man and knows every single one of his students by name. His grading scale can be confusing but if you just pay attention to your grade all semester youll end with an A
Professor Czako is awesome!! Most of his exam questions come from the Mastering Biology Practice. There is barely any homework. He gives a lot of extra credit. He is a little hard to understand, but he is the sweetest man ever! He truly cares and will help you in any way possible. TAKE HIM!!
Dr. C is truly one of the purest, kindest souls. He gives moderately difficult tests, but he works hard to give his students a chance to understand the material. He plays music before class every day and is very accessible outside of class. The exams weigh heavily, but these are balanced by homework, attendance grades, and an essay.
Dr. C is the literally the sweetest man I have ever met, he wouldnt kill a fly, but his lectures are pretty pointless because his accent is so heavy. 85-90% of exam questions came straight from his 200-question reviews so take the time to do them and understand them. I would certainly recommend taking him because his class is an easy A.
Dr. Czako has a thick accent, and his lectures are pointless to attend. You will get an A on all 4 exams and the final as long as you do the mastering biology hw (memorize them). There are no quizzes and simple online hw that takes practically no time at all. He drops lowest exam and gives extra credit essays that are easy points. Super goofy& nice
he is the sweetest professor but you can't understand what hes saying. He gives tons of extra credit and the homework is annoying but an easy A. take him!
Easy class, Easy A. mastering bio questions are identical to the tests. 10/10, would take again. Lots of EC opportunities. Lot of people tuned out for lecture and just showed up for EC.
Czako is a great professor, he does have a thick accent and going to class is often just for attendance. Memorize the Mastering Biology homework questions for the tests and you'll get an A. Very easy! Very kind professor.
Awesome teacher. You need to show up to class because he takes attendance and it counts towards your grade. Also he will sometimes ask questions during class that you need to answer using TopHat, this questions count towards your grade too. Test questions come straight from hw question on mastering bio. He also gives lots of extra credit.
Dr Czako is an extremely kind and understanding professor. Please engage him in class, ask questions, and be interested, as it almost hurts to see him give so much and get so little back. Extremely accessible and will always help you out with special circumstances. Tests are difficult, but not unreasonably
This is my second semester with Dr. C, I took him for Bio102 as well. I literally love him so much, he is such a nice man and really wants you to succeed in everything you do. Definitely have to work for an A in this lab, but you can tell he cares so deeply about his students' success. He's very clear on expectations, but TAKE HIM! You'll love him!
Czako is literally the sweetest teacher I have ever had. He is so sweet and really wants you to succeed. Engage in his class and show up. Attendance is mandatory, and there are extra credit questions using TopHat. The test are mostly online, come from the Mastering Biology questions.
The lectures are long and boring but he gives a lot of extra credit and the homework questions are exactly like the test
Class is sort of boring, but he is super nice. He decided to make all our exams online after the first one, to allow for more class lecture time.
He is literally the sweetest man ever he wants you to learn and have fun doing it. Most people dont pay attention in class which makes me sad but its just so boring bc he just talks the whole time. A lot of extra credit, and he made all our tests online. there is attendance taken everyday from an app which goes into your grade
Yes, he's the sweetest man, and having 3 out of 4 of our exams online was very nice, and the homework is easy. However, it does not matter what you make on the homework or all of the exams because of his rule for the final that is if you do not make a 70 or above on the final then you will not pass the class, even if you an A before the exam.
decent teacher but not the easiest material to learn if your not a biology major, dont take this course unless biology is required. three of four test online so it helps and he drops the lowest score so thats nice
Dr. C is one of my favorite professor's! He constantly tries to make people laugh. Lab is rather boring but Dr. C tries to make it as interesting as possible. You're graded by 4 quizzes and 4 exams only. 2 dissections at the end but not for a grade. Dr. C will normally let you leave early once he's done teaching. He cares a ton for his students!
Really sweet man who cares about biology but he is the worst teacher you will ever have. Lectures are pointless he just reads off the slides for 50 minutes but makes it impossible to actually learn anything. The tests are all online so you do well but then the final is in class and impossible. If you dont pass the final you fail the class.
Dr. C is a very sweet and approachable man who is extremely passionate about bio. He cares about the well-being of his students and makes accommodations. However, his lectures are boring and confusing and his exams do not reflect what he teaches. I ended up teaching myself everything which wasn't even beneficial. Avoid him if you want to learn bio.
Czako is the sweetest human ever!! I absolutely love him! I had him for Bio 101 and 102 and got high A's in both classes. He is always available to meet outside of class and truly cares about his students! The exams are online and they reflect the Mastering Biology that he assigns before. They aren't difficult. TAKE HIM!! HE IS THE BEST!!
The material is hard but he cares so much for his students. His exams and quizzes are hard because spelling counts, and the lab is more like a three-hour lecture, but if you pay attention and take notes you will be fine. He is more than willing to help outside of class and wants you to succeed. He is kind and surprisingly funny when he wants to be.
Czako is great! Loved his class and all the content! He is extremely sweet and always willing to sit down and chat during his office hours. I had a great time being in his class and I'm so glad I took him. His tests are easy and just do the homework and review and you will be fine!
Dr. Czako is a very knowledgeable man. He is very passionate about anatomy and expects you to be the same way. There are 4 quizzes and 4 tests and no homework or extra credit. If you don't study, you will 100% fail. The quizzes take just as much time to prepare for as the exams do, but if you study, you will be fine.
Dr. C is easily the nicest professor in the science department. He loves biology so much and wants every student to succeed. He's always available outside class, and he makes lectures interesting by adding funny videos throughout. TAKE HIM!!!
such a fun and sweet guy! he doesnt really teach so you probably won't learn anything and its really hard to pay attention. but he's so nice and caring and understanding. if you pay attention you will learn things but most exams were online along with any other assignments. amazing person and would for sure take this professor again for any class
Hes a very nice man, but all he does is read straight from the slides, which then have nothing to do with the test. Do the 200-300 question homework review if you want to pass the tests. Hes very passionate about biology, but cant keep any ones attention.
longgg lectures and you HAVE to go to the SI sessions if you want to at least do okay on tests
PLEASE do not take this man in a large lecture. You may think you'll get through it and be fine because the course material can't be that hard but you're WRONG. He gives online exams outside of class which are not open note. He mumble-rambles all through the lecture and he's hard to understand.
You probably won't pay attention to the lectures, but most of the exams are online so you will be fine. If you need help you can reach out to him at any time, and he responds fast and helps you. He gives extra credit too. DO NOT buy the textbook, all you need it the TopHat membership, and the mastering Bio code which you can buy online.
Dr. Czako is very nice and very funny. He reads right off the slides, but lectures are very helpful. All of the exams are online.
He is a really sweet guy, and you can tell he is trying to make things more interesting at times. The only grades in the class are tests and I swear they are never over things he has talked about in class. I took this exact class last year and got an A and with him in doing awful. Would not recommend taking his class at all.
If you want to understand the material and actually learn something, I won't recommend him. If you want an easy pass but fail on the exams, I recommend him. He is very lecture heavy talking the entire time with a thick accent people barely can understand. He has a very kind nature, but I would say he doesn't do well in a large lecture situation.
Czako is a very nice person but he is hard to understand during lectures. He has a very heavy accent and lectures the entire class period. I always had a difficult time paying attention.
There are only Pearson homework grades and tests for grades. Professor has a heavy accent and coming to class you can expect the same lecture style every time. Sit and listen to him ramble about BIOL. He's funny though.
he ended up becoming our prof halfway through the semester bc our primary left. dont get me wrong he is really funny, caring and tries, but its hard to understand him sometimes bc of a heavy accent and sometimes reads right off the slides that its easy to doze off. really recommend studying hard. he does online exams and gives extra credit.
Czako is a great guy and is super nice. His tests are difficult and lectures are difficult to understand but if you study, you should be fine.
Dr. Czako is a hard teacher, but he genuinly cares about his students. You can easily reach him and he will explain concepts. Three exams are online, one in class, and he drops the lowest of those. All of the final questions can be found in the practice and prior tests. If you work hard you will be fine, but if you want an easy A then this isn't it
He's so sweet and caring and wants you to get a good grade. 3/4 of his tests are online and he drops the lowest one. The final is hard but manageable if you study hard. It's all past test questions. His lectures are so boring though and hard to follow.
He's a very kind person and he's very willing to help you during office hours if needed. He takes attendance frequently, so I recommend going to class because it can help your grade. You need TopHat and the MasteringBiology. I hadn't taken any of the other professors, but I believe Dr. Czako's class is perfect for Biol102.
His class is really easy. Takes attendance by top hat, but can leave right after attendance code is given. His first test and final exam were on paper but the 2nd, 3rd, 4th were online. Make sure to do Mastering Biology. Easy A.
lectures are ALOT of information and hard to focus but easy exams and homework assignments. He offers a lot of extra credit for people struggling, I had an F at one point and passed with a B+!
Dr. C is literally the cutest, sweetest man. The first exam is in class but all of the others are online and easy to find the answers to. He gives a lot of extra credit and rounds your grade at the end of the semester. He doesn't care if you are late or leave early as long as you show up. Watched Netflix in class everyday and still got an A.
Czako is an awesome professor but very lecture heavy. He gives a few online exams, sometimes in class, but he is awesome! Guaranteed B if you show up to class. You don't need the textbook, just a masteringbio access code and tophat subscription
I hated his lectures! He's very boring and his voice is quite monotone. But he's a fun person! I had to read most of the material myself and go to office hours a lot. There is a lot of MyLab homework but they help. He also gives a good amount of extra credit.
His lectures are very boring and it makes it hard to concentrate. He gives one on paper exam and the rest are online. As long as you do the homework, which can sometimes be lenghty, you will do fine on the exams. Drops lowest exam grade and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities.
Dr. C is a super nice guy, but I was not a fan of his class. HW is all due the night before each exam, but there's a ton so I don't recommend waiting until then. Most exams are online which is nice, but the final is on paper and difficult if you didn't pay attention for the HW. I had an 89 at the end, though, and he bumped me up to an A.
Attendance mandatory for a code at beginning and sometimes the end of class. First exam in class is rough, 3rd and 4th exams are online and final is in class. Hes a good teacher but class drags on
Dr. C was very nice & easy to reach outside of class & was helpful during office hours. HW is on mastering biology & typically questions range anywhere from 100-120 questions per chapter. First exam was extremely hard but he drops the lowest test grade in the end. 2 online exams given & the rest are in class. Tests questions come from the HW.
He cares for his students a lot. His class is tough, he is very monotone so his lectures are boring and it is hard to pay attention. His homework is very excessive. Over 100 problems for each chapter, I do not recommend waiting till last minute. Attendance is mandatory, exams are from the hw but they are still very difficult.
Czako was an amazing professor! He was always quick to reply to emails or any concerns about my grade! There are 4 tests and a final. He uses mastering bio for online Hw which the tests are very similar to. Most of the tests he gives are online. Finished the class with a A+ he made biology easy for a class that can be hard. Definitely recommend.
Honestly, he is super monotone and classes get boring , but he tries his best to work with his students. I was skeptical about this class at the start, but he replied to any questions I had. Unfortunately Covid happened, but he made sure we had the chance to pick grades up by providing extra credit. Hes a good man
He is very boring. There is a ton of homework, but spend time on it as the homework questions are the exams. This class is an easy A, but I did not enjoy it. He became slightly sassy during the coronavirus, and moved homework dates up a week before it was due. Once again, it was a ton of homework so it was a problem.
It's hard to stay focussed in his class, he gives A LOT of homework, and his test are questions straight off his HW. So if you plan on taking him make sure you plan on paying attention to the homework. Only 2 open note exams and the rest weren't. All exams were supposed to be in person until Covid-19. Good person overall though.
Took this class online due to covid. Assignments consisted of discussion boards, short answer homeworks, three exams, and a final. Most of the exams were open book and the final was open book. I would def recommend you take Czako for this class. He is very nice and understanding. He tried to make the class as simple as possible.
Easiest Professor for bio 101 and 102. He wants you to succeed as a student and makes it very simple.
Just dont.
I took Professor Czako 100% asynchronous. Lectures are very boring but, he gives you all the material that you will be tested on at the beginning of the semester and gives extra credit in the tests. He only grades 4 tests and 4 quizzes and some of them are on lockdown browser so you have to know the material. As long as you study you will be fine.
lectures are useless. all the notes can be taken from the homework textbook. gets off task easily. funny guy and really charismatic.
I took his online bio lab class. First, I want to say that the lectures are almost 3 hours long and absolutely useless. He gets very off task and doesn't really teach you anything, luckily the lectures are recorded so you can just go back and take notes on the very few important slides. All tests and quizzes are fill in the blank, diagrams friend
I took Bio 102 100% asynchronous due to COVID-19. Real cool professor. Lectures are long and boring but it's only once a week. Homework is on MasteringBiology and can be time consuming but multiple attempts for each question so it's not too difficult. As long as you do the hw and study, you should be fine. 4 Exams with 1 being on Lockdown.
Fair grader, open note tests, lots of hw and reading
Dr. C was very understanding this semester. He has a bit of an accent that can be hard to follow sometimes, but he offers tons of resources. Most exams I had were open notes and there were a couple of opportunities for extra credit. He's pretty wholesome and wants you to succeed but also apply yourself. Just make sure to keep up to date on the hw
This man is truly a gem! Took him for BIOL 101 and I loved him so much I chose him again for 102. He is super nice, great story teller, and he's funny! There is a lot of homework, but it's just multiple choice stuff you can find online. This semester, all of our exams were open note except one, and he dropped our lowest exam grade.
Dr. Czako is super laid back. We were given multiple weeks to complete homework leading up to each exam, and just had to post on the course cafe two times each week for our grades. I highly recommend taking him!
all you have to do legit is pass the exams and do 1/5 of the hw and youre good
He is very nice! The class is difficult because of the material, but he was very helpful & listened to students concerns. All of the exams were open-book, aside from 1, but the lowest exam grade is dropped. Would definitely take a course with him again!
Dr. C was great! Hes super understanding and willing to help. The class is pretty much all lectures and homework. Theres a lot of hw so dont procrastinate and its super easy to do well on. You get multiple attempts and its all multiple choice. All of the exams, except one, were open notes with multiple choice. Lowest exam of all is dropped
If you have the chance to take Dr. C, do it!! He's one of the sweetest and most caring teachers here. He does give quizzes and exams often, but as long as you attend class and put the normal amount of effort into your studying, you'll pass with ease! His tests aren't long either and he gives tons of extra credit. *Uses Lockdown*
really easy class and the absolute sweetest man. a lot of homework and readings but still a really easy class.
The best bio prof. Took him for 101 and 102 and got As in both. Tests are open note and you don't need the textbook. He's the sweetest man and actually wants his students to do well
online homework due before tests that are open note(besides the first one but that one is dropped if it is your lowest).
I have taken Dr. C for 2 labs and he is kind of hard to understand at times and his lectures are a little boring. With that being said he is very lenient when it comes to extensions. Every time I emailed him about it he has always given me more than enough time to complete the assignment (one time was +2 week extension). Also didn't need book.
Czako has a strong accent that I am unable to understand. The lab was more of an extended lecture than anything activity based. He doesn't set clear expectations for each exam. Spelling counts on all exams, which has killed my grade. He doesn't curve grades or give remediation opportunities (or at least so far he has not).
Dr C has an accent that makes him hard to understand at times, but he gives a TON of extra credit and that is essential for me because im a nursing student. His exams are hard to understand at first but once you understand his teaching style you will soar. I am taking him again for lab next semester and I highly recommend you take dr c's lab!
He is nice but it doesn't matter because of the fact that between his 2 masks & accent I can't understand a word he says. The HWs are on Quizlet but they're 102+ questions each and each question is 5-15 parts. I have to read the chapter, his lecture slides, and watch videos on YT to understand at all. Spend at least 35 hours doing work/studying.
I have him for bio 102 and tbh its awful. homework is almost 300+ questions a week, discussion post, and exams are on lockdown. people said they would be open notes but he likes to change up when its open notes and not. its impossible to study with that much homework a week + lectures. i wouldnt recommend.
A lot of homework, but its easy work. He reads off his powerpoints the entire time. He is light hearted and is always playing youtube vidoes while everyone is coming into class. All exams have been online and only 2 with a lockdown browser. Final is not lockdown
I did not learn anything in this class. Yes, tests are sometimes open note, but two were on Lockdown Browser and it was really hard to get a good grade on those. The homework are also extremely long and each chapter homework took roughly 1-2 hours to complete and there were multiple chapter homework a week. Tests are all the homework questions tho.
Dr C is probably my favorite professor I've taken so far! He googles what songs college students are into and then plays youtube videos with the songs. A lot of people give him bad ratings because he has an accent, but I would take him again in a heartbeat. He gives SO much extra credit like there's no way to get under an A unless you just trying.
I love him so much. He gives the best extra credit, and he is very reasonable if you have to skip a class because he will let you go to another one. There is a lot of material, but to be honest, you just need to memorize it and go to class. He takes attendance so make sure that you go.
Dr. C is very caring and wants his students to do well. His classes are lecture heavy, where it can be very boring and bit hard to follow along... but if you study the presentation and look at his objectives sheet before every quiz/exam, you will do fine. He is genuinely very kind! You'll learn how to work with his accent eventually lol.
Dr. Czako's lecture can be boring sometimes, but he gives a lot of extra credits. Also, all of the material he will test you on are on the objective list he gave us.
I took BIOL 102 online with Dr. C. We had 2 tests with lockdown browser and 2 without. Each test is open for about a week before the due date so you can take it whenever you like. Homework is available throughout the entire semester and due when exams are due. I highly recommend!
In the beginning of the semester he did not make attendance mandatory, and then after a couple of weeks he started making attedance mandatory and you have to sign in and check your name on a sheet. He assigns module HW questions on Pearson textbook and they are at least 100+ questions at a time. He is not clear with his syllabus expectations.
So much extra credit that is not work intensive. Tests are really long, online, based completely off homework. Homework is super important, memorize to do well on the tests. Most tests were open note. Homework took 4+ hours a week. Class attendance was mandatory and really boring
Dr. C is a very sweet man and has a great sense of humor. A lot of people complain about the amount on homework that he gives, but it is super easy and it will boost your grade a lot. Exams are based off of homework and some are open note. He gives ample amount of extra credit opportunities so there is no reason why you shouldn't make an A :)
Professor Czako is a decent professor. He gives lots of chances to redeem your grade through open note exams and dropping the lowest exam. He does assign a lot of homework and I would suggest doing it not last minute. He does wait to grade most things until the end of the semester, but I did decently in the class.
This course is PowerPoint heavy but Czako is accessible at almost any time (I once emailed him at 2AM and got a response in minutes). The material is heavy but Czako does everything he can to ensure a fair shake. He drops your lowest test score and a lot of exams are open note. You will have to participate in a ton of discussions though.
The homework that was assigned throughout the entirety of this class made me stressed out. At least 4 homework assignments on Pearson MyLab were due at a time and each assignment had upwards of 100 questions on them. After the first exam, the rest are open notes which makes it easy to pass the class but make sure you do the homework and discussions
Dr. C is very sweet. He has a accent and it can be very hard to understand him sometimes. he works with students and understands that things happens sometimes. quizzes and exams are all open response (no multiple choice, no fill in blank) and spelling counts. he definitely knows what he is talking about!
The homework is pretty lengthy but you are given so much time to complete it. 2 out of 5 of the exams were on respondus but the questions are identical to the homework. Drops the lowest test grade if you do good on the final. I took dhameja for 101 and fought for a B but this class, if you don't really care about learning, its an easy A.
He was an amazing teacher and was very understanding. An A in this class is easy if you put time into studying. He also lets you retake exams and provides lots of extra credit.
The most understanding professor ever. He wants students to understand everything and will allow retaking of exams. An A is definitely possible in this class if you put in the work and study.
Professor Czako is a very nice man. Although, it was hard to understand him at times due to his accent. He does care about your grade and will work with you if he thinks you should retake any of the quizzes/exams. They are all fill in the blank & online. Overall, I had a hard time learning due to his accent, but appreciated how thoughtful he was!
The only thing he required us to have was the atlas from bio 243. Attendance is mandatory, like in any lab. There are 4 quizzes and 4 exams, as well as a grade for attendance. He gives objectives for each exam and learning everything on that is what I would suggest. He's very understanding and actually cares if you communicate issues with him.
I LOVE this man! I would not take him for a lecture class since he is hard to understand, but I finished this lab with a 106.
I had Professor Czako for Bio 243 and 244 Lab. I truly liked having him as my bio lab teacher. He gives lots of extra credit and is so understanding. He is willing to help every student pass. The class may be boring, but that's with every anatomy lab.
Online homework is mandatory, however you get unlimited attempts so you can generally make a 100 on all of them. Sometimes exams are on Respondus, most aren't (including the final) so it is easy to make an A. He responds to emails pretty fast if you have questions. Discussion posts are mandatory, and some are extra credit.
He has high expectations for his students but will give lots of grace towards helping out students get better grades.
I am taking his online asynchronous course right now & am paying thousands to sit in my house and teach myself and take endless notes. I spend at least 25 hours a week staring at my laptop trying to understand everything & not retaining any of it due to the sheer workload. There's no exam practice offered, just useless textbook questions.
Dr.C is an amazing professor to take for lab, he is so sweet and funny and really enjoys teaching. The material is difficult but do able if you take the time to study. He is super understanding when it comes to sickness or other excuses. Extra credit is extra questions on quizzes and exam. STUDY STUDY STUDY!
You have 4 quizzes and 4 exams. The quizzes are online and respondus and the exams are in person and go by stations. If you go by what he says will be on the exam and you put in the work to study you will do well. He is very sweet and funny and is there to help you!
VERY kind and understanding but learning from him is difficult. Lab in general is hard but he doesn't spend the time in class making sure you understand material. He kind of mumbles to himself and class is boring. You have to teach yourself. He allows retakes and cares about his student's well-being and grades but the connection is missing some.
Grades are based on 4 exams, a final, discussion posts (participation graded), and homework. He drops the lowest exam at the end and 3 exams plus the final are open notes. The homework is pretty lengthy, 2+ hours per assignment but it's multiple choice with 6 tries. Overall, a fairly easy class as long as you follow along and try your best.
There is too much information on one singular exam. His exams cover more topics than other BIOL 102 professors exams. Some of his exams are open note but 1 or 2 are open note including the final. You have to fill out 2 discussion post and complete assignments for this course. The assignments are lengthly and take a long time to do.
I love Dr.C im taking him for bio 102 next semester. He does take attendance but he is always accessible and responds to emails quickly, he is one of the nicest profs and the tests aren't so bad if you pay attention and do the homework.
Professor Czako is a good professor. This class was online so there was a ton of homework, about 200+ questions a week. Exams were also very long. He does drop the lowest exam grade though. Overall, not a bad professor but this being an asynchronous class he did not do well explaining what was expected of the students in the discussions or exams.
I loved Dr. C for lab. He's a really nice guy that gives a lot of chances for retakes and extra credit. He does have an accent, but if you pay attention and study his slides thoroughly, you will be fine. He also responds super fast to emails at literally any time during the day. He was really cool and I highly recommend taking his class.
Professor Czakos class was great. You definitely have to keep up with the required readings, weekly discussions, homework, and lectures. I took BIO102 online and there are 3 major tests (only 1 required lockdown browser). The final was also open note. Most of the questions on the test & final are on the homework assignments as well.
open note exams- too easy
Do NOT listen to others talk negative about him! HE IS FANTASTIC. All lab courses require you to know your information without any word bank or multiple choice but if you put effort and show up to his class regulary he will work with you! It's a relief to have a professor that cares about their students success in such difficult course. TAKE HIM !
literally the most amazing teacher I have ever had. so understanding of students
He was really nice and outgoing for his students! He was pretty clear on what would be on tests and quizzes. He could be kind of hard to understand in labs, however because of his accent.
Very good professor but be prepared to study a lot outside of class because his accent makes him difficult to understand during lectures. Lots of quizzes but if you study you will do well and he gives lots of extra credit opportunities. If you show up and are kind to him you will do just fine. Taking him again!
I absolutely loved this professor. I took him for both Bio. 101 and Bio. 102. He is super understanding and will give you an extension if you really need it. I would highly recommend him to anyone who needs to take these classes.
Warning this class will have anywhere from 80-150 homework questions per week. On top of this I had to spend about 2-3 hours doing notes every week. His exams are very hard but he offers 13 points of extra credit on an exam to counter this. 2 exams are open note with 2 on Respondus and one final exam.
I absolutely loved having him as my lab teacher this year. He gives so much extra credit. I got over 100% on every quiz because of it. He is super understanding if you can't make it to class, or need more time to complete an assessment. He also gives you breaks during the lab, and I would highly recommend taking him.
Super easy class online. Really low effort- only thing that is difficult is 2 lockdown exams but the rest of the exams are open note. Professor is super responsive and easy to reach if you have any questions but overall really easy and would absolutely take again.
The exams are pretty difficult like any other Biol 244 Lab, but Dr. C provides so many extra credit opportunities and exam retakes that really helped me boost my grade up. He is very caring and encourages all of his students to do their best. He does make you stay the full class, but he is very entertaining and funny which makes it go by quicker.
TAKE HIM!!! 4 quizzes, 4 exams go into your grade. he lets you retake the practical exams online because he says everyone deserves a second chance. a bit difficult to understand what he's saying because he has a thick accent and rambles but his powerpoints are exactly what is going to be on exams.
One of the best lab professors I have ever had. Gives a ton of extra credit on each quiz and exam. Quizzes are online and exams are in person, but often a second attempt online for each exam. A bit hard to understand during class, but he definitely cares about his students doing well. Gives breaks a couple times during lab since they're long.
I was very excited about this course and I was disappointed. The lectures are straight from the textbook, and Dr. C goes on long tangents about completely irrelevant things. He is a really nice guy and has some interesting stories, but this class was very boring and 50% of your grade is based on 2 exams.
Idk why his average isn't higher than it is, he's a great professor and really cares about the well being of his students. quizzes are online and exams are in person! Lots of extra credit on both, and is very helpful if you have any questions! Gives good study aids and allows you to come to other sections/open labs if you miss any notes!
TAKE HIM!!! I had Dr. C for both BIOL 243L and 244L and I am so happy I took him! He tends to use the whole class time lecturing, but takes breaks frequently and puts on music, funny videos, or movies clips. He provides so many extra credit opportunities and exam retakes. He is very caring and wants all of his students to succeed!
He issues tons of homework. His class is very easy if you know what strategy to use, but if you're studying off his lecture notes, good luck! Did not learn a thing in his class, but I would take it again for an easy pass. He's a good guy and does seem to care; his teaching style is just interesting online and doesn't work. Homework is a BIG deal.
This class is an easy A. His lectures are very long but very helpful at the same time. He allows retakes on all the exams. Overall he is a great professor.
He was the best professor I could have asked for. I had him for both BIO 101 and BIO 102 (online). If you take notes in his class during the lecture, you will be fine. His exams are mostly open note and are super easy. Gives you extra credit assignments and allows group project (if wanted). Overall, such a great professor. He is very understanding.
I love Dr.C , he is a great professor. You have to review/learn on your own because he does tend to go off topic/his explanations can be confusing. Offers retakes/ 2nd try on most stuff also has his own quizlet with basically everything you need to know for his exams/ quiz.! He has a master study guide with everything that's on each exam.
He has an accent, and it can be hard to understand if you aren't used to accents, but I had no problem. He keeps you the 3 hours and drones on, but there's a catch - you can retake everything. He doesn't care about due dates and is a nice guy overall. Do you have to sit in a lab for 3 hours? Yeah? Is it gonna be easier than most 243 labs? Yeah.
This is an online course, so it is very textbook-heavy. Lots of reading and very very long tests (100+ questions). However, half of the 4 exams are open note, and the lowest exam gets dropped. The final is open note as well. Just take good, detailed notes and have them organized and you will be fine.
SO MUCH HOMEWORK! There's so much material and I did not learn a single thing from his class, but I would take again for an easy pass. Half the exams are open note, including the final. Discussion posts for every module, but you only need like 3 short sentences and it'll count. Take him for an easy pass, don't take if you actually want to learn.
Czako is the most caring professor I have ever had. He is extremely clear in his grading and actually makes an attempt to make class engaging. He offers extra credit and is very understanding if you are struggling or need clarification on anything. The tests were difficult but if you study the slideshow you will be perfectly fine. 100% TAKE HIM!!!!
Take him. He is such a caring and wonderful professor he offers extra credit, retakes, and master study guides. Make quizlets of EVERYTHING and it should be an easy A. Also get to know him and talk to him he's really sweet and cares about if you're struggling!
Wow what an interesting guy! He made the class very easy, and you can retake anything, but he uses all 3 hours of lab time and I got bored during every single lecture. Not very clear on what will be on exams, he just goes through all of his PowerPoints. An easy A though so I didn't mind.
He can be hard to understand but he really helps his students to succeed. He took me from getting a C in the class to high B because he gives great extra credit and offers lots of help to students. He wants his students to do well and really cares about them and it shows.
Absolutely take his class!! He's an amazing professor I've taken 4 classes for him and achieved an A+ in every single one. He cares about his students and allows retakes on quizzes and exams. If you ever can't make a lab/class, email him and he is very understanding and usually doesn't require a doctor/excuse note!!
He can be hard to understand sometimes. His lectures are very boring and he uses the whole three hours of lab, but he allows retakes on quizzes and exams which allows you to get a great grade in the class. He isn't super strict with attendance and is super understanding if you miss an exam. Definitely worth it!
Overall, he is VERY textbook-heavy and was a help sometimes. One issue about his class is that he gives about 10+ hours of homework to do in 2-3 weeks, so if you're a procrastinator, I wouldn't suggest taking the class. One good thing is that he makes two of the exams open-note, so you'll get a good grade most likely.
Genuinely a sweet professor who cares for his students. He is very lenient with work. About half of exams are open notes, which will boost your grade greatly. There is homework for every chapter, but doable. I suggest starting them with plenty of time as it is time-consuming, but nothing that is not in the textbook.
BEST LAB EXPERIENCE EVER. Im literally taking his 244L now because of how good last semester was. Kinda hard to understand so I recommend making your own power points using the objectives. Really wants you to succeed. If you put in the work and study its impossible to make below an A! TAKE THIS CLASS if you want to do well and focus more on lecture
I absolutely loved his class! I had him for 243 and 244 lab and he was great! He has a thick accent so can be hard to understand at times, but you get used to it. As long as you put in the work, you'll do well in the class. He also gives plenty of extra credit. I would 100% take him again if I could!
He's a really nice guy, but the class has a LOT of work. There is a lot of homework, and he wants you to log into the online class all the time. Weekly discussion posts too. 2 of the exams are open note, and answers are easily accessible, but if you really want to learn anything at all I do not recommend him.
I took his course online so I don't know much about his personality or lecture style but if you want to actually learn the material DONT do this class virtually. Lecture powerpoints are extremely long (some 200+ and there are sometimes multiple in a week, there is an absurd amount of homework questions every week and exams are extremely difficult.
I LOVED HIM, he provides so much extra credit and if you put in the effort to learn his material you can easily make an A! I would 100% take him again. he is so sweet and such an amazing teacher
Dr.Czako is literally the best professor I've had so far! I've taken him for both BIO 243 and 244 for lab and I would not have been able to pass both without him. He's super caring and very understanding, though his accent is something to get used to. A lot of material but if you have a good study method, the class is pretty easy. He's so amazing!!
he gives 100+ slides as notes for each chapter, and didn't respond to my email asking for a study guide. two exams and the final are open note. homework is fine but i missed a two-hour assignment (most homework takes 30 minutes max) and my HW grade dropped from a 99 to an 82. don't take him for this class if you want to learn something.
I've taken Dr. C for both BIOL243L and 244L now, and I've enjoyed his class both semesters. There is a lot of information for both of these classes, but if you have a good study routine, you'll be fine. He gives lots of extra credit opportunities, and you can tell that he genuinely cares for his students' success.
Just literally do the work lol. The easiest A. I have taken him for 3 different courses because he's just the best. 10000% recommend.
Dr.C is amazing, Ive signed up to take my third class with him next semester. Hes amazing in Lab and very engaging and tries to lighten things up, online he's just as great and very willing to help you succeed by making things up and redos
Professor Czako has an engaging teaching style, but the workload can be heavy. Staying on top of the textbook-focused content and using resources like unstuckstudy ai are key to doing well. Overall, a challenging but rewarding class if you're willing to put in the effort.
Great guy, very caring, offers lots of extra credit. Kind of drones on and mumbles to himself during lecture. He makes it SUPER easy to get an A as the tests are the exact same as the website and he's very approachable if you have any questions. I personally found it hard to understand his accent and had to teach myself everything outside of class.
My honest opinion, I would not take the class again. From the beginning, there really was no structure. Be prepared to have your first exam be over 5-6 chapters. Each chapter has about 8 powerpoint presentations with 50-60 slides or more on each. Lots of homework. Five exams including final. Three open note including final. Practice exam questions!
Love this Dr. as a person, but he can be hard to understand and he goes off topic. It's really learning the powerpoints by yourself outside of lab. If you take this class, you will be fine as long as you study! I will be getting an A (he gives A TON of extra credit.) However, I am taking someone else for clarity!
He is my favorite professor I finished his class with a 106, I did study good amount but as long as u do study you will get a good grade and he is also really funny and has interesting stories. I love him take him for bio lab!!
Would recommend taking him again! Sweetest man and is very caring towards his students. Little hard to understand due to his accent but gives all the information needed to do well on quizzes and exams. Every class is taking an exam or learning new material and then a quiz. Overall a funny and nice professor!
Professor Czako was great. He genuinely wanted to help each student succeed, he was also funny and had cool stories. There is almost always a quiz or exam so be prepared to study each week. This class did take a lot of study time, however I would take him again.
Exams are literally impossible, there a blank sheet numbered 1-50 and spelling counts... Don't take if you cant spell
He is one of my favorite bio professors. He made an online class fun and manageable. He is one of the only professors to do it online, so I'm taking him again for Bio 102. I would suggest keeping up with the online homework. Overall, he is amazing, and his discussion posts are always fun to do
Dr. Czako cares about students and wants them to succeed, he allows for retakes, rescheduling, and extra credit. Yes, he has an accent but you should get used to that, it's a big university. He is definitely understandable if you listen closely. The point of this lab is to memorize anatomy, so yes, you have to "teach yourself" when you study.
Czako is a very sweet professor who truly wants his students to succeed. The content is difficult, but he is always available and provides a lot of resources to help. He is also very sweet and gives great dad vibes. offers extra credit, and gives extensions if necessary. great guy, great prof!
He's an okay professor, but this class is very unstructured and super hard to actually learn. Lots of confusion about when assignments are due, what's on each test, and just overall super discombobulating. 2 exams and the final are open note, so it's easy to do well in the class but I would not recommend taking if you want to learn the material.
This class is a class where YOU yourself have to put in the effort with ANY professor. Prof Czako wants his students to succeed and obviously cares about his job. He gives literally like 13 extra credit questions on every exam (no i'm not kidding). Ive gotten OVER a 100 on every single exam when Ive left the room thinking I prob got a B. TAKE HIM!!
Honestly, I never watched the lectures, and only studied the homework questions, two exams open note along with the final, 2 proctored exams. One grade was dropped, so you do the math. There was TONS of HW but make sure you study the homework if you want to do good on the tests. Weekly discussion posts are his "attendance". I learned nothing.
This professor is the sweetest man he cares about his students and is very good at responding to emails. In his lab although the lab lasted the full 2 hours he would give us a break in the middle and show us his adventures from his trips. The class has HW and a quiz every unit and if you study they are will be easy if not you might struggle.
Professor Czako is very caring about his students and is very flexible when it comes to exams and their due dates! He also is always available and very good at responding to emails regarding homework or content questions. Most of your studying will be done outside of the classroom, but all you have to do is read the textbook and do the homework!
He is a very caring professor and wants his students to succeed. the course was not difficult because he gives so many resources to his students. I just had an issue with lockdown browser and he was very helpful and let me redo. he is a very caring professor who wants the best for his students. Love you czako!
Dr. Czako was a great professor, I had him for BIO243L and took him again for BIO244L because I liked him so much. He is incredibly caring and nice. The quizzes are all easy and exams are fine. It's all memorization and you're given resources. He gives a lotttt of extra credit so even if you do bad, you still do good.
Just don't take online biology. SOOO many lecture slides, they're narrated but it's mostly reading off the slide. just get ready to teach yourself. I'm sure the professor himself is a great guy tho, he seems wholesome
Dr. Czako made a hard class so much easier. He gives you 10-15 extra credit questions on the exams, and lets you retake if you absolutely bomb a quiz or exam. He truly wants everyone to succeed. The lectures in lab were long and he usually keeps you for the full 2 hours, but it was worth it.
I wasnt the biggest fan of his class. It was pretty easy but I feel like I didn't learn a ton. Tests are mostly open notes so its easy to do well, but he showed up to the first lecture an hour late and always seemed to be unorganized throughout the semester. Very nice and funny guy though.
Make sure to do your homework! It will save your grade. The fact that two of the four regular exams were open note saved my grade, same with the final. Failed the two on respondus and still got a B. He takes away one grade too. Pretty easy imo.
Czako is a very hilarious man who cares about his students. The tests and quizzes hold a lot of material so you really just have to memorize a lot.
Study up, offers extra credit, can be strict but amazingly funny. Like just comical and a great dude. I personally recommend him for everyone
Good professor. My advice is to not take an online Biology class unless you have plenty of time on your hands and are committed to doing like 1-2 hours of studying for this class per day. It is extremely lecture heavy. A lot of reading within the span of a single week. In this class, being "caught up" means being behind. You need to be ahead!!!
If you already have lots of knowledge about Bio then this is a good class for you. It is a lot of teaching yourself. There are 5 exams total, 3 open notes and 2 on lockdown but lowest grade gets dropped. Homework is on pearson and is not that much.
Be prepared to study. This class is pure memorization so be prepared to spend a few hours a week prepping for quizzes and exams. Dr. Czako is funny. He will always play a silly video or share pictures from his research trips. He Tri for make class interesting since you're in lab for so long. If you listen and study you will do fine.
