TAKE HER! She's the coolest english teacher I've ever had. She's so helpful! She'll read ur papers and tell u what's wrong with it. There's only 6 essays, 2 are midterm and finals. But the midterm essay are actually helping us to get ready for the next essay so it's like hitting 2 birds with one stone. Not a lot of reading and HW!! Easy A =)

She schedules peer reviews and gives us several lessons to edit before turning our final drafts in. She's also very willing to read your draft and tell you how you can improve on it. Do the HW and 2 presentations as they can only help your grade. NOT a boring class. You got to work for an A. She's very nice and approachable, too. Recommended. :)

Highly recommended! She gives a lot of personal attention to students, especially with reviewing essays. She is a very dedicated teacher. I took this class during Winter and did not lose interest or motivation. She is also a very fair grader.

I LOVE HER!!! I was in her class when she first started teaching here & it was my first semester at PCC ('06). She's really helpful & let's us work on our essay in class (workshops). One of the best professors I've had at PCC. She really wants you to do well and the essays are fun to write. Each essay helps you prepare for the next one. Overall, if you have the chance, take her and you won't regret it.

Great teacher. Very open to help students with questions. Wrote 4 essays and 4 critical reading exercises during 6 week inter-session. Whew! Gives lots chances to revise essays after her initial corrections. HIghly recommend taking this teacher for English 100.

Kuroki is super nice, but personally i like my english teachers to be brilliant. She's just mellow, doesn't have much interesting to say. make sure you read & use her comments on your rough draft. She's not a hard grader. Her class does get kind of boring because a lot of dead time to work on your essays.

Extremely time consuming. You need to work hard to get a grade that will satisfy you. She is clear and helpful if you seek her help, but she won't be available all the time. Her essay topics are pretty interesting and fun to write about. But as I said, it takes much of your time and it's hard!

I found the class enjoyable and challenging. Yes, she does not tolerate messing around -- no cell phones -- no falling asleep in class. You need to do the work -- but isn't that what college is about? It's not a free ride!

She is alright, not easiest on her essays. A couple times i ran into the situation where she went over my rough draft and told me what to fix, after completely fixing it i still had a C on the essay. Just make sure you do the homework

Terrific professor. The class was a lot of work, but she structures it so that each assignment helps you complete the next one. She is a no nonsense, no B.S. professor; she offers clear instruction and plenty of advice, but don't expect her to hold your hand. Her class is definitely not a waste of time. If you don't get a B or higher, it's because you probably were extremely lazy. She is really cares about you doing well on your essay, so she is more than willing to proofread your essay if you send her an email with the attachment. With my experience, if you correct all of the mistakes that she made, you will get an A on the essay.

Great professor.Very kind.She was more than willing to help me get caught up with assignments I needed help on. Being there is crucial. She makes it evident that poor attendance will eventually affect your grade. Her grading can be a little tough but her essay topics are interesting. I actually learned things in her class.

How to get an A in her class? You need to write a clear thesis with good transitional sentences and little grammar mistakes. Not that hard. If you can't get at least a C, either you're just lazy or sucks at english.

This class is not easy, there is a lot of work and she grades fairly hard. I am by no means a good writer. However, Kuroki helped me step by step and I eventually got an A+ in her class. So trust me when I say it is possible to get an A in this class. Attend class, read, do all your work, fix all your errors, and participate. She is a great prof.

Great Professor! She gives TONS of feedback on your essays and is super helpful! This is definitely not a class for lazy people. A lot of people say she gives a lot of homework, but if you think about it, it will only help you with the class. She's not assigning hw just to be mean, she assigns it so you learn.

She helps you out a lot on your essays. She's really good overall. She does not really have an open mind to see other views aside from her own. Ask her to be specific or you can get quiz questions wrong because you don't answer what she's looking for even if you have a correct answer for a question with several different answers.

I can honestly say that I learned more in her class than in any other English class. She is a kind, sweet, & wonderful human being. I enjoyed coming 2 class every single day & I had her 4 SUMMER. Her class is easy. It's not hard at all to get an A in her class if you do all the work. Her tests and quizzes are pretty easy as well. I aced all of them. She's very helpful too. She is willing to help each and every one of her students.

She is a very hands on teacher who makes herself available to her students. Do the homework, show that you are interested and she will grade you fair and even might bump your grade up a little bit if you deserve it.

I love her! One of the rare great Eng professors at PCC. I wish I took her for my regular Eng too. This class is really interesting &she gives helpful feedback on essays. Readings are paced fairly (some profs assign readings like they're your only class, gosh). Only thing is, she starts class very on-time so don't be late :(

she's a very straight forward, easy, English teacher compared to others at PCC. 3 essays and a research essay at the end. two extra credits to boost your grade..alot of assignments in between so you have a lot of chances to collect points. grades easily & reasonable. very understanding teacher, loves and cares her students. she's just truly awesome

She is very helpful and cares about what you get in the class. Her lectures tend to be boring but she tries to make them funny. Not a lot of test/quizzes. Your grade is basically tested on your essays you do in class. Make sure to do the reading and you'll be golden. Great Professor!

She likes to have people get into groups and discuss some things and have peer reviews. I did like how she was very helpful and straight forward. just read the book, do the essays and hw she gives and you're pretty good. i didn't try hard on the essays, and got a B in the class.

Professor Kuroki is extremely nice and helpful. Her class is moderately demanding but the readings are very captivating and I realized I learned a lot from the material. It might take some self-discipline but this class should be pretty easy to pass with a high grade.

Dr. K is a very nice professor!! She's willing to help her students, so take advantage of her office hours! English is not an easy class and you have to work hard to improve your writing, and it will be reflected on your grade. Take her class, you won't regret it!!

She is the sweetest professor ever! She gives a lot of readings and homeworks, but the assignments are fun, interesting movies and books :) Yup you feel lazy to read, but after you watched the movie, you kinda get it.... She really help students with her comments and will reply all your questions!

I failed English twice before taking this class. She makes this class interesting and easy to follow along. YOU HAVE TO DO THE WORK, but she makes the class tolerable if English is not your thing.

Honestly, one of the best professors I ever had! She cares so much for her students. In order to pass this class with a decent grade, you have to do ALL your work and readings. There's five essays in total and they were pretty intresting. If you don't undertand something she will help you! She's so sweet and kind, I recommend you take her.

If you are not self motivated than you will not pass her class. She assigns a lot of reading assignments and a lot of writing assignments. But how else are you going to improve if you don't do the work. I recommend if you want a challenge.

Dr. Kuroki gives a lot of work, but only so that you can improve as a writer. She is a fair grader, and is always willing to help. Kuroki understands that people have a lot going on in their lives, so she won't penalize you for turning in something late. TAKE HER! She is a very caring person, and actually remembers what you write about.

5 essays total. Her grading will mostly based on ideas in the essays instead of grammar. If you have awesome idea and decent grammar, B to B+. She also guide you if you got stuck somehow if you talk to her.

She is clear about what she wants and it is a relatively easy A. However, she has a particular writing style and will make you re-write over and over until it sounds like what she wants. She does help you build strong arguments in your essays and gives a lot of feedback. The lectures are a bit boring and she is a bit uptight. Would not take again.

Kuroki is a very sweet woman who cares about her students. She assigns readings that stay with you for a long time. Doesn't grade too hard at all, and tells you about assignments way in advance. I recommend this course to everyone, Asian American history is important too, okay!! Plus, if you're like me, you'll meet some really awesome people here:)

Mikage Kuroki is a wonderful professor! She is extremely nice and patient if you ask her for anything. You have to try hard to at least get an A- on essays. For me I considered myself as an inadequate writer so I'd frequently ask her for feedback. Fixing the suggestions she gives you on the feedback is the key to your grade. Movies were gr8!

The English Writing Lab 901 very simple. Show up and do your work--no real need to turn it in. No homework. Pass/Fail class. Coreq to English 100. She is awesome and nice, you can talk to her. Work is simple and mainly you just relax for the 45 minutes to an hour in the class.

Taking this professors was the best choice I've made in terms of English class! TAKE HER CLASS! She is extremely helpful and always is there for her students whether it be in her office hours of through email. In her class you definitely need to put effort into your work to receive that good grade that you want!

The professor is really nice in general, she likes to help students pass if she sees you're struggling by the end of the semester. Her important assignments are all based on essays and research papers. Miss one writing assignment and you'll struggle passing. The most writing assignments she will give you is about 4-5 through out the whole semester.

Take Ms. Kuroki for 901. She's lenient grader so far and do the best to help you if you're struggling for work. No phones in class. If you miss a day from the workshop, you can make one up as long as it doesnt become a habit. Gives extra credit incase you miss a day in lectures.

This professor is highly recommended for a 16 week online classes. Professor Kuroki will respond to all your questions in a timely manner. Your grades are largely dependent on your quotation analysis and essay writing of the readings. It's actually quite simple. Do not be intimidated! Many discussions with fellow classmates. Extra credit is given.

Professor Kuroki is hands down one of the best teachers I've ever had. Her grading criteria is clear, the assignments & reading materials are interesting, she's extremely helpful, and it's clear she cares a lot about her students! I took her class during the Summer Session of 2016. SHE'S AMAZING! Summer session was INTENSE as there was an essay due about every week. However, the reading material and the lectures were both very interesting. Read the books, do the assignments, show up to class, and you'll be fine. If you're struggling, talk to her, she understands.

Professor Kuroki is honestly such a great teacher, I really learned so much in her class. There is a lot of reading and writing involved in the class and the only really hard assignments were the essays, its easy if you actually don't procrastinate. Best lab professor ever!! I had her for my english 400 lab. she is so nice and sweet. She is always trying to help her students. She is the greatest online English teacher! Gives bonus points, doesn't care if you turn in things a day or two late, she grades generously and passes you even if you just try! Professor Kuroki is amazing. Took English 1A during summer 17 and loved her class. Its fast paced so you have to stay on top of every assignment. Alot of reading. Loved reading the extensive feedback she gave for each writting assignment, has really helped me improve my writing.

Took her for English 100 during my freshman year. I liked her so much I decided to take her again for English 1B. (I was hoping she would teach 1C!) Anyways, she gives good feedback. Very lenient with late work for those students who procrastinate. There is a lot of assignments that aren't worth much but certainly helps with the essay assignments.

English 1A was difficult for me because of theses driven essays, all of her assignments prepared you for essays. she gives good feedback and uses what you have written to help you and give you some ideas to write about. Winter course was six weeks, so the workload was heavy, but with effort you can pass with an A. Very good professor!

Professor Kuroki is by far one of the nicest and most understanding professors at PCC. Not only does she dedicate time for her students outside of class but also goes around the class asking students if they need one on one help. She grades tough but helps you if you need it. As time goes by her class becomes much easier, especially the essays.

Professor Kuroki is such a kind soul! She truly cares about every student and is so willing to work with you and not against you. She is very easy to talk to and gives helpful advice in improving your work. Beware if you are looking for an easy A because you do have to work for it in the class but with a great payoff (you really learn something).

Took Eng1A over the 6 week summer session, which meant a lot of work everyday in and outside of the classroom. Professor Kuroki was approachable and open to help students if they needed it. I learned a lot in her class, and feel better prepared for my next english class and other classes that require essay writing.

Took the class during a six week summer session. It was fast paced but the class itself was not hard. She gives you lots of resourceful options on how to get help and even makes herself available to you. You do have to get a good average on the Essays in order to be able to do good in the class. AND she offers an ec assignment of 15pts.

Loved taking her English 1A and 1B classes! Her instructions were clear to understand and she gives you plenty of resources. As long as you keep up with the work and presentations, you'll be able to pass the class.

Kuroki is a good prof but Ive only had her online class. SO MUCH HW & READING. Every week you have a bunch of reading (most are good reads), discussions, and journal. 5 essays, 2 timed, and a hassle to do them. She does give good feedback but youll need to schedule well to complete her essays. She does give extensions if you ask and no penalty.

Her lecture is amazing! 10 minute free writing for each class. One personal presentation. She attaches great importance to the reading, understanding and appreciation of articles. She carefully guides and gives advice to each student on each essay. Very professional and responsible. Practice a lot on reading and writing.

She is great professor that cares for her students and patient She will gives students more time finished the assignment if needed after the due date and also gives feedback to make you better writer. Kuroki is one of the few gems in the Eng Dept. She gives very well constructive feedback, as she truly cares for your progression in the class. Yes there is a lot of reading and writing. That's the purpose of a writ course. Even then she does her best to accommodate for you. We're not good at writing, so take her feedback as she helps you improve

There is a lot of 1 point assignments DAILY which take a lot of time to complete. But youre mainly graded on the essays. If youre struggling, ask the professor and shell do everything she can to help you! (I didnt do a lot of those daily 1pt assignments, but you can still pass!)

Not the toughest grader and actually cares enough to work with the student. Provides feedback to explain why she graded work the way she did. Given that she teaches English, there are numerous reading assignments and writing assignments. I took her online class and attendance was not mandatory. She encourages students.

Professor Kuroki is an amazing professor. I took the 8-week English course and although it was a lot of work, the assignments were very easy. Most of the assignments were simple reading assignments that were only a small percentage of your grade. The essays were the most important, but they were fairly easy. This class was taken during the summer semester so it was a lot of homework. I completed almost five assignments everyday towards the end. But professor Kuroki gives good feedback and is always available through email. Staying on top of assignments is a must for this class but it is achievable.

I took the 6 week long course so the work load was a little bigger. Towards the end of the course, there were about 5 assignments a day due. Of course, they were available ahead of time in case u would want to get ahead. Kuroki have very good feedback that helped improve my paper and is always available through email! Highly recommend :)

Professor Kuroki has been my favorite english teacher at PCC. She did give a lot of readings and homework, but they are all things you could easily skip over and get the gist of. Gave really great feedback on my work and was not a tough grader at all. The readings were also interesting, but very, very long. Great Professor.

Professor Kuroki uses interesting and informational readings. Online participation matters, assignments are easy but if you miss a few you will fall behind. Professor Kuroki can be emailed for tutoring. She is a really nice teacher who cares about students learning the material and offers extra credit.

I took an 8-week course so there was bound to be a lot of reading and homework. But as long as you space your time out and don't procrastinate, you should be fine. Professor Kuroki gives wonderful feedback and is extremely accessible outside of her office hours. So don't be afraid to email her to have her look over a rough draft or a concept!

Four essays: based on a short story, poem, play, and movie, they were worth 80% of the grade. The first and 3rd required to write 5 to 7 pages; The 2nd and 4th were 2-hour timing writing, 6 or 6 more paragraphs of the essay, you won't be able to know the actual prompt until you click to start button; I hope my comment is helpful for you.

Professor is very understanding and gives amazing feedback. Lots of homework but they are simple assignments and discussions that you can finish pretty quickly. There were 4 essays total and for each, she would give you great feedback and good scores. Would definitely recommend her to everyone.

Was one of the first classes that I took as a returning college student and motivated me to take her class for English1B. Professor is easily accessible and helps students during office hours. The work is fairly easy just keep up with the due dates. Provides feedback in order to understand what needs improvements.

As long as work is turned in on time and do all the assignments, passing should not be hard. There is two timed essays, and two essays worked in class. Worked on annotating poems and plays and discussing them on canvas. Really enjoyed the works of authors used in her class.

She gives lots of homework, but they are all worth 1 point so basically you can skip some here and there and still end with a high grade.

The homework, yes it's a lot. it's 1-5 min each. For those who are horrible at writing essays, like myself, these little pieces of homework are broken down in steps to prepare you for the essay. She literally assigns homework to prep you for your intro, then another piece to prep you for your body.. and so on. SHES AMAZING! Its skill building.

A reasonable, professional, and caring instructor. Her material is well thought out and intentional. The assignments flow well and relate to the papers they precede. She is available as a resource outside class. The homework can be a lot but its worth hardly any points, it's just there as an aid for those who need it. 100% would take again!

The assignments can be a lot, but she is a reasonable instructor; you can turn them in on the weekend. The assignments relate to the upcoming essays. She responds promptly in her email. A bonus is that she offers easy extra credit for each essay unit we have. I 100% would take again!

I really loved this class a lot I highly recommend this professor. The only thing I didn't like is how she gives a lot of assignments in one day even on a Saturday as well but there mostly worth one point. What I loved about her is how she really cares about her students and she always gives great feedbacks so we can make our essays better!

I had Prof. Kuroki during the Winter Semester. There's a lot of interesting readings for this class and the readings are connected to the unit essays. She gives detailed feedback on your essay. There will be extra credit opportunities on each unit too. She respond on emails quickly on weekdays. TIP: Turn in your assignments on time :D

Professor Kuroki's ENG1B class has a lot of assignments, but they're manageable if you stay on top of them. The readings are interesting, and the feedback on essays is detailed. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for study prep. Overall, a challenging but worthwhile course.

Took an online English 001A class with her. She does give a lot of work, but she's quite lenient with the deadlines. She's a tough grader, but she definitely helped me improve my writing. Her feedback is quite thorough. I'd recommend her if you want to learn more about reading and writing and are okay with putting in some work.

Professor Kuroki is really good.She helped us prepare for each essay with guides and instructions and gives us ample class time to complete most assignments.She is willing to work with you to help your essays come out good with her feedback and resources.I feel my writing skills improved in this class.

Had her for Eng 1A, took her again for Eng 1B but online.4 major essays, last essay is your final, gives lots of small homework assignments, usually are simple as replying to a discussion, doing a journal entry, or doing a quotation analysis on the book/ poem/ play that is being read.Smaller HW assignments help you in some way with your essays.

Lots of homework assigned, but completely manageable as an online course! Each assignment is usually just a discussion post or couple sentences. The final grade is based off 5 essays, so homework itself is worth extremely little and isn't completely detrimental to your grade if miss a couple. Overall a generally easy course.

The only downside for this class is the amount of "low-stake" homework she assigned (However they only accounted for 5% of your grade). Apart from that, the homework was there to help you brainstorm on what would eventually lead to the essay topic, and they were fine because the readings they were on were genuinely interesting.
