Good teacher, good class.

This teacher is a gift to education. He teaches very hard math subjects, and he knows it. He gives the conscientious student every opportunity to make a good grade. He is very easy on the eyes.

GREEEEEEEEEEEat Teacher!!! this mans way of teaching made me understand calculus and he puts less stress in your head over your grade so you can concentrate more on the material. WHAT A GREAT WAY TO TEACH all professors should work this well with their students.

Clear, to the point, and helpful. kind teacher who wants to see you learn the math. i hate math and struggle with it every day but with McDowell i am passing math and learning the stuff to.

I would highly recommend Professor McDowell. He is very helpful and attentive to his students. Whenever I was struggling and having a difficult time he was always willing to help. I took the class online and he was still very helpful.

Great teacher. I took the online class. I really did not have to use the text book because the class uses my math lab. In order to pass the class you do have to put some effort in to it. The professor will respond to emails quickly. I recommend him.

Mr. McDowell made STATS so easy. I took a maymester (3 wk course) and was anxious about doing well. He gave several take home tests, homework was completion grades, offered MANY bonus assignements, and explains everything so well, you'll def make an A. We used the book alot, and must have TI-83 to function. Great teacher overall!

wonderful teacher. I love his teaching style, and he'll work with you if you were absent or get behind. He wants to see you make an A, and is very kind and understanding. He's always drinking ice tea in class, lol, and he always looks so refreshed. I recommend him for all math classes.

I strongly recommend this teacher..He is great..Keeps you updated every week..You never have attend class if your taking him for online classes...You can take your test online also you have 2 ATTEMPTS on your test..The FINAL is also online..And your homework you can do as much as you want till you make the grade you want..He's AWESOME....:)

This is really...the best teacher ever!!(online)...I took his online class for summer 2 and, believe me! it was easier than any other math class before. This teacher is outstanding. Took his summer 2 online course and loved it. You can do your homework as many times as you want to get the frade you want. You can take tests twice! he was very helpful - offered help via email, phone or in person (he does tutoring too). He checked on me to make sure I was staying on track. Wonderful!

This is a wounderful teacher. He is soooo helpful both online and in the class. If i were taking developmental math or college algebra 1414 I would strongly recommend him. His whole goal is for you to complete this course. Matter of fact I had a class of 24 developmental and college algebra students and all passed except 2 that dropped.Just wounder

This professor is the best. Statistics is not an easy class. He explains and explains and explains until you get it. He will stay after class and will help you until the end. I would have taken him for another course but I took him already for Math 1414.

I have taken him for all of my DMAT classes. I love the website that we use which is mymathlab. He is very helpful and wants to see you excel. Easy class as long as you do your homework. I did a little every day so that it was not stressful. The grading system is automatic in the program so that you can see if you need to improve or help.

I HAVE TAKEN HIM FOR COLLEGE ALGEBRA AND STATISTICS. THE CLASSES ARE NOT EASY, BUT HE IS VERY THOROUGH. HIS TESTS ARE JUST LIKE THE EXAMPLES HE GIVES YOU. HE IS VERY HELPFUL AND RESPONDS TO EMAILS ALMOST IMMEDIATELY. I WOULD DEFINITELY TAKE HIM AGAIN

I took Mikal McDowell course.. No teaching just straight mathlab. Assignment, quizzes, test and Final on mathlab. I took and barley pass with 69.1 and he gave me a C. So pass the courses.

TOOK HIS ONLINE WINTERMESTER COURSE. YES IT WAS A LOT OF WORK BUT YOU GOTTA SPREAD OUT THE WORK ACCORDING TO YOUR SCHEDULE. HE RESPONDS VERY QUICKLY TO EMAILS AND LETS YOU RETAKE ANYTHING IF YOU ASK NICELY. GREAT COMMUNICATION AND ENDED UP GETTING AN A IN THE CLASS. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I took this class in Summer1-2012. From some of the comments made about this teacher I almost did not take the class. I however am glade I did the teacher is upfront about his class and was prompt to return emails. He even offered to help those who had fallen behind to catch them up or gave them an other option.

Professor McDowell is a great teacher and mentor. He will always help those who come to his office during office hours. If you read, take good notes while attending class, and do the reviews, then you will make a good grade.

This instructor is AWESOME!! fast response via email, very understable person, reset my test couple of time due to technicalties, finish his course within 2 weeks on a course that was supposedly be 16 weeks with a solid A!! def. recommend to take him!!!!!

Professor McDowell convinced me to take trig some years ago on a two week course. Initially, I was hesitant because I do not like winter courses. I am glad I listened to him because I worked hard for two week and got an A. Read the book, attend class, and do the homework and reviews on time and you will be fine. He is a great teacher.

This professor is very understandable and nice. I finished his course in two weeks from a 16 week semester. I really had to get a head start earlier to register for a research class at UTA and gave me that opportunity. He also responds to emails very fast which is an A+. Overall, great professor!!!

Algebra is a difficult subject for me; however, this teacher is excellent at explaining and providing almost instant feedback for an online teacher. He is nice and a real professional. Would highly recommend this teacher.

I took this class during Maymester. I was worried it would be hard to keep up with, because of it being math taken in such a short time frame. However, it was extremely manageable and McDowell responds to all questions rather quickly. I actually finished a week ahead of the class ending.

I took the DMATH classes online. Professor McDowell answered emailed quickly and always checked on us throughout the week to make sure we all stayed on track. I stink at math but I passed both DMATH's, finally.

2 DMATS through my math lab so pretty straight forward. He always responds quickly if you ever email a question. The algebra course was through aleks and was a little more complicated but he was very patient and helped walk me through it. He was really great!! I suck at math and ended college algebra with a B!

Wonderful Experience taking his class. Took it online and followed the course calendar. Helps and replies to question pretty quickly. Have a very simple and logical grading method. Learnt a lot. Extremely recommended.

Alot of work. Have to keep up and actually try. I took it online and got a C. Everything was online, NO Book Needed!!! Extra credit was only added If it raises the letter grade and unfortunately did not for me. It gets harder toward the end but is do-able! I recommend it if you're good at teaching yourself math!

So he is AWESOME!!! I took him for all my developmental math courses and all of my credit math! He is amazing, he works with the students and is helpful. I have recommended him to all my friends. If you are not good in math and need a teacher who is willing to help you get it, HE IS YOUR GUY!! I would take him again!

This class does not use MyMath Lab. It uses ALEKS which I actually liked ALOT better!! If you worked and met your time goals each week it was easy to stay on track and easy to finish with an A.

The whole class is ALEKS. It's a piece of cake if you actually try. He also helps you a lot and responds to emauls fairly quickly. He's an excellent professor

This class uses Aleks instead of MyMath Lab which was 10 times better. This is my 2nd attempt and I actually passed with an A. The professor was awesome and he kept in contact, which is different from alot of professors. This was my last class before I received my associates. Who would have thought someone who sucks at math understood it.

The teacher is awesome! stays in contact, I took this class online and was very good. I hate math and I have never been good at it, but he helped me a lot. Very responsive to emails. I definitely take him and again. 100% recommended

Took him for College Algebra online and is was a piece of cake but you definitely have to stay on top of your topics. He responds to emails in a timely matter and helps out a lot.

Professor McDowell by far is one of the BEST math professors I've come across. I stuck with him for College Algebra and Statistics and pass both classes. He's very helpful and responsive to e-mails. I usually don't rate professors but he deserves to be highly praised for the care that he provides each student. I highly recommend Professor McDowell

Take Him! Take Him! Take Him! This is definitely the professor to take for math. The Aleks program is so easy to understand. You must stay logged in each week for a certain amount of time for an attendance grade, but that is easy to do. The final exam was a breeze. I would definitely take this professor again.

We used the ALEKS program. Pretty simple. Passed entire class because of MathWay. Professor and TA was extremely helpful. So helpful actually that I basically took my final exam with the TA. Basically showed up to class if you needed help, which I did. He will guide you through a problem entirely if you do not understand it.

Completed for College Algebra. The class is basically self-paced and you just have to follow the weekly guidelines for an easy A. Also gives updates and feedback in a timely manner, which is an A+. I would definitely take another class offered by Prof McDowell!

Took this class wintermester 2017. Daily assignments. There are videos for each lecture so you can watch instead of read, but the book is there for extra studying. Prof. Mcdowell was extremely helpful, he was great at responding to any math questions and explained very well. there were 4 tests, take each one twice and keep the better grade Takehim!

Professor McDowell made statistics a breeze. This is coming from a student who is awful at math. He provides a sample course calendar that one can follow to stay on track. 4 exams, 2 attempts at each exam and he'll even round up your grade. Highly recommend this course for anyone who dreads math. However, staying on top of hw is essential.

I was nervous to take this class online esp during summer because I suck at math, but I found it surprisingly better online. The videos and MyMathLab helped tremendously. Prof McDowell was extremely communicative and responded to questions quickly. I powered through and completed the course over a week early and should make an A, so I do recommend.

I took this class in the summer. I recommend you take this class in a short semester. There was quite a bit of homework but it wasn't that bad. Three attempts per question and two attempts for the tests. As long as you keep up with the course calender you'll make an easy A. This course uses my math lab and the textbook is included via E text.

Very, very clear in syllabus about what is and isn't expected for the math class. The ALEKS program is great. So long as you do your weekly work, and manage to get 70% of the work done by the end of the semester, you'll pass. Anything above 90% in your work and tests is a 4.0, so it's not bad.

Absolutely fantastic! I had to retake stats. My other stats professors seemed to want to make the class as difficult as possible and he actually made math enjoyable. Gives you the opportunity to take exams twice. Cant say enough good things.

If you suck at math, this is the class for you! I made Cs in my other math classes and I made an A in this one. It is very clear, you watch the video then do the test for each chapter, then the 4 unit tests. You have to work for it but it's not too bad. If my terrible math brain can do it, you can too! No extra credit though.

Great online class, Class is fast track 4 weeks, not good at math I got a B. Previously attempted to take stats at UTA online, extremely difficult, I ended up dropping. This class was fairly easy if you stay on track with syllabus and possibly work ahead if your able. No book required. 9 chapters of work. Responds quickly. Love this Instructor.

I thoroughly enjoyed taking this course. At first, I was super nervous taking stats for the second time AND online. This course was super straight forward. What you practiced on the homework is exactly whats on each exam AND you get two tries on the exam. Not once did I feel behind or unsure of what was expected of me. Highly recommend!

Professor McDowell was awesome. Just finished an online maymester with him for statistics. It was a lot of work in a short period of time, but McDowell emailed us each day with reminders of what work was due and any ways he could help. Asked him for help and he sent me a video showing me how to solve the problem I was struggling with. Recommend!!

Great professor! Took his online Stats course and it was a breeze. Warning - There are weekly modules and its better to start early. You will not be able to do everything at once so it is important to pace your self. 4 Total exams with 2 attempts each. Weekly Homework and videos that explain so you don't have to read all the time.

This class is one of the hardest classes Ive ever taken. Right now I am taking him for Statistics online this summer as I am currently in his class right now. Although I have a B I am struggling so bad right now. Do not take this class just take college Algebra. Algebra is simple. This class is not!!! DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS!!! Take ALGEBRA!!

Do Not take this class!! You really have to take time with this class, there is so much work, the videos make no sense. On the lectures they show you how to use StatDisk but we have Sat Crunch, and Stat Crunch dont help much either. This class takes me 3hrs out of my day to work on. Theres too many parts to answer the question! Just take Algebra!

Took his online class during fall semester and I'm so happy I did! Clear grading rubric and you have the chance to take tests twice! It's not easy and there is a lot of material, but if you follow his course calendar and take the time to study there is no reason to fail.

This class was easy for me. I had the work on Aleks. The professor was easy to talk to over email. He replied fast and he was clear.

Took an online Stats class during summer 1, was a lot of work but doable daily assignments.

Not a hard class, just do the work on the online website he tells you to use. He's a very nice teacher and always sends email reminders of what's due almost every day or so.

I am so glad I chose Professor McDowell. It was super easy A+. However, I will say get behind and you will lose track of time quickly. The professor responded on a timely manner if I had any questions. Even forwarded links to help understand the lessons.

I had the opportunity of taking Professor McDowell for Wintermester and loved the layout of the online class. His assignments are cut and dry. There is a heavy workload, but with organization skills, it can be done. No trick questions, quizzes mirror the homework assignments as well. TAKE HIM! YOU WON'T REGRET IT!

Winter Semester. It's a work at your own pace. I'm finish with the already. It took me a little over a week and a half to finish. I love classes like this. I will say you must work ,work, work. This is a no hand out class. But it's worth it. It's not easy let me tell you home work is long and a lot. But I got my "A" and I'm done. Take him

I took Professor Mcdowell for an 8-week online class and it went great. His layout is really well-organized, and he sends out weekly emails to remind us what is due. He is very quick to respond to emails. There shouldn't be a problem if you do everything on time. YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED IF YOU CHOOSE HIM!

This was an amazing course! Professor McDowell composed a very good homework/exam layout. I will say that procrastination will not help you out in this class. Its a fairly easy class, but I ended up procrastinating which affected my grade. Also, Professor McDowell is very helpful, and an amazing instructor.

I havent been able to process math well since 7th grade and with Mr. McDowell, I finished the course early with an A+. Hes a very calm and laid back man. The assignments & tests are completion grades but you have to put in work. It takes a while to do but hes right there to help. One of my favorite professors! He makes sure that you understand.

I took professor McDowell as a fast term class and it went great. His assignments are on MyLab and it was easy. His class is very organized and would email daily reminders. He is there if you need help and answers emails fast. He is very caring and the math is easy. As long as you do the work then you are good to pass the class!

This class was super easy. He uses ALEKS for the classroom which is assessible to work on anywhere at anytime. His grading is mostly about progress and completing a certain number of topics each week. He is super helpful and cares about his students understanding the material. I would 100% take his class for another course in the future.

If you need credit for any math class, I recommend taking professor McDowell. His class is super easy if you keep up with the topics on ALEKS. He is very understanding and sends a lot of reminders mentioning what's coming up, which helped keep me in track. He also does a very good job explaining the topics in a more simple way compared to ALEKS.

Very easy class, took it as a summer course. MyLab Staticists is used for all assignments/lectures/exams. There's about 30 assignments, 3 quizzes, a midterm, and final exam. The professor lets you use notes on all quizzes/exams. Very do-able class, using a graphing calculator and StatCrunch makes everything much easier. 10/10 would recommend

If math has always been a struggle for you, take his course pls! Hes one of the best and most understanding professors out there. Hes online cause if VERY ORGANIZED and EASY TO NAVIGATE! Its a bit of work, but if you put in the effort Professor McDowell will acknowledge it. He provides countless of videos to help you understand it!

Professor Mcdowell kept everything organized and easy to follow through. Statcrunch was super easy to use and you could even use your notes during quizzes/exams. I've had to repeat math 1342 in the past with other professors and it's been hard understanding them. Professor Mcdowell made this class super easy to understand that I finally passed.

Professor McDowell was my favorite professor this semester. He's very nice and he cares about the success of his students and also very easy to contact. The work is based online so coming to class is not absolutely mandatory, but if you're there he makes sure to check on your work progress and helps you understand anything you're struggling with.

He's fast-paced but encouraging and quite friendly. His communication was amazing, even outside of office hours. The content was difficult and it was hard not to fall behind, but as long as you put the work in, he is a great teacher.

amazing prof. easy class, very straightforward course work. I remember taking him for college algebra, glad to see he's still an amazing professor. all his work was done through Aleks. Aleks had you learn topics each week. you can get ahead of the work just don't procrastinate!!!!! you will have to learn the material in order to pass.

this class might seem like a lot at first glance but if you give effort this class will be a breeze. there was a total of 165 topics, the most topics i had to do for a week was abt 20 but that will depend on your knowledge of certain topics.3 total Knowledge checks(exams).for it being a 8 week class it wasn't as hard as i thought it would be.

If you struggle with math don't take this course as a 8 week. There was a lot of topics due every sunday which was a lot for me since I take 5 other classes. He has videos to help you with the material just didn't like how we were supposed to use lockdown browser exams and aleks.

Professor Mikal is very responsive and concise. His course is well organized and he gives his students the support they need. I would definitely recommend this instructor if you need a math course!

Professor McDowell's class is well-organized and manageable. The Aleks system is helpful, and with effort, the material is easy to grasp. Unstuck AI and other study tools made prep a breeze.

This professor was amazing! I was never afraid to ask the same question twice, he would eagerly explain it again. This is quite literally the only math class I have felt comfortable being outwardly confused . Very understanding towards life circumstances upon email and is agreeable to deadline changes. Amazing 10/10 prof!
