If you ask him questions, he will respond and is friendly. You need to read the chapters more than once to do well on the tests because some questions aren't covered in the lectures.
tests are sort of out there....it seems as though he wants to stump you to prove that his pe class isn't a cake class. very passionate.
chance to walk around outside is nice. Nice fair guy who always shows up and is understanding. i liked him and the class and i usually hate PE
Such a great and enthusiastic teacher! Had so much fun!!! great attitude, helped whenever we needed!!!

This class is amazing. I would reccomend it to anyone.
The most fun class EVER (just don't let the string snap you on the arm)! Easy 4.0 if you don't miss a class.
Easy, but still informative!

He made everything ridiculously hard, he was crude, and made everyone in the class uncomfortable with his descriptions. His work load was overly heavy for the class.

Nothing special about him but he wasn't terrible. There's only so much a P.E. teacher can do. I honestly could have cared less about this class so I didn't study for the tests and still passed with a decent grade. If you study for the tests(there was only 4), miss less than 3 days and actually workout you will definitely get a 4.0 out of the class.
Very nice. Easy class. To get 4.0 just keep up.
He was a ok teacher. I didnt have any problems in his class. But it helps to be a track fan.
Good teacher but somtimes his class was a bit boring. well weight training is boring.
(I think the class is 122...) Archery's really cool and fun. He's helpful whenever you're having trouble and he gives you tips for self-improvement. Overall, cool class, good instructor. Grades depend on attendance, so you can only miss one class to still get a 4.0.
He was such terrible teacher. He did not give any mercies to students. And his grade criteria was absolutely ridiculous beacuse no matter you work hard during class or attend everyday, he asks every you to achieve every criteria
Horrible teacher! He drove me absolutely insane. His classes are direct lecture and if you ask a question about something he previously talked about he wont tell you the answer. His tests are impossible too. DO NOT TAKE HIM!
Super hard, you must be there every day for his lectures! His wife teaches a section of the class and she is amazing! He likes to talk ALOT and will just go on and on sometimes about random studies! I just didnt like his teaching style.
The worse teacher ever!! I am a good solid 3.9 student! I got a 2.7 in his class! He is rude and his tests are hard!
(Archery) this is probably the easiest PE class on campus, but you absolutely HAVE to be there every class. Otherwise it doesn't matter how good you are, you'll still fail. Other than that, easy A so long as you try and pay attention.
HORRIBLE teacher. doesn't teach from the book, just gives out random facts & is RUDE while doing it. he'll EXPECT you to know everything before he even teaches it. DO NOT take his class. over half of my class dropped out after the first test. you WILL regret taking this, so DON'T. i'm a 4.0 student & had a hard time just passing this class.
DONT take this teacher! if you want to spend 3/4 of the entire qtr thinking of what response he wants you to give him then go for it. hes rude and hands down the HARDEST grader on tests i have ever had. i am an A student and came out with a 2.2! RIDICULOUS! go to every extra credit workshop you can.. gives you .1 each time added on for final grade
came out with a 1.7.... this class includes some of my favorite topics, very poor teaching style... and he is very rude.
Worst teacher I have had. Made the class super hard and his excuse for that is "cause its college so its gonna be hard." Well when an entry level health class requires more studying than Calculus 4, there's a problem. Gives you no idea of whats gonna be on the test, he expects you to be experts on the human body and mind by week 2. AVOID HIM!!!
Not very helpful. It was entirely attendance based. Kinda fun, but he doesn't accept any tardiness, or phone usage at all. Lots of "down time" in the class, while you wait for others to shoot, but can't use your phone or ipod during these periods.
Horrible teacher. I truly believe he enjoys giving students bad grades.
The worse teacher out there. He grades you well if he likes you and if he doesnt then you are in trouble. He is prev and I will never take other class with him again..
this teacher sucks. his quizzes are really hard and if you dont study like a mad person you will do horrible. his grading is also really messed up. if you have perfect attendance/participation but have not so good quizzes you will get like a 1.0. and he is rude! DONT TAKE THIS CLASS
P.E. is not really my thing, but this was one of the easiest classes I ever took. To get a 4.0, all you need to do is show up for all the workout sessions (you can miss up to 2), and get an average score of at least 85% on the three non-cumulative scantron quizzes. The lectures are okay, and all the material is in the (very short) textbook.
I thought that he was a great instructor and was very clear, concise and to the point. I would definitely take him again.
He was a horrible teacher. DONT take his class. His test are so hard. You have to be there for every class and test. If you miss a test and something poped up (part of life) he will take point out of your test .
Really horrible teacher. Definitely plays favorites, so if you aren't athletic, or have a perfect body, don't expect him to even acknowledge your existence. His tests are ridiculous for a 2 credit class-he has 3 or 4 tests per quarter, and if you don't get A's on the test AND perfect attendence, your grade goes down.Only grades 4.0, 3.0, 2.0 or 1.0
He's clear and concise about what is going to be on the test. Read through the books in depth and find the main point of his lectures. His lectures didn't do a great job of explaining the main idea of his topic. You'll do fine if you study the book and really process his lectures. He has a test for each unit.
He is a to the point teacher. He expects respect and to follow his rules. (by the way, he tells you all of the easy to follow rules and makes it crystal clear). Show up to work out, follow rules, be on time, and take your tests (don't forget to study). I thought he is an outstanding teacher and so is his wife! They make a great pair!!!
Really hard class to pass, really need to study and pretty much have to memorize everything. His notes aren't very helpful at all.
Took this class twice, once as someone who didn't care and once as someone with determination. Loved him the second time around. Just don't expect to coast.
Test are pretty hard and papers are even harder. He doesn't ever put your grade in the computer so if you want to know your grade you need to ask. I made the mistake of not asking and by the time I realized I wasn't going to pass it was too late to drop the class. This was my first college class. DONT take it as your first college class ever.
I took archery with him and it was fun and easy. The grade isn't based on aim (lucky for some)its based on being there and being nice. Attendance is super important! Don't be late for class or he won't let you in. And don't touch your cell phone. Class is pretty much just sitting when others are shooting so can get boring. Fun class. Easy 4.0
I am a 4.0 student and breezed through my other classes yet I studied for this class way more then my other classes and failed. He enjoys failing students and doesn't help you at all when you go to his office hours. I went and asked for help and he basically told me I wasn't ready for college. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!
He makes it seem like you don't have to come to the lecture classes, that is not true GO TO THE LECTURES AND TAKE NOTES!! If he had warned the class that we need to study hard and come to the lectures I am sure half the class wouldn't have failed. There are questions on the exams that are from lecture and aren't in the book. Study the book too tho!
I got moved from his class because he said I got 4 absent in the class. Absent is a season to fail the class, but not the reason to kick someone out from the class. He said I can't even go to workout in the class time terrible teacher ever.
His class was pretty difficult and he expects a lot out of students. The time in the weight room and doing cardio helped me drop about 60 pounds. His courses are definitely worth it if you stick with them and give 100%
Very hard class! Hard tests. Hard to pass. Wouldn't take this course again. It is hard to study for. He is not very helpful either.
Very good instructor! I took his archery class last quarter. As long as you follow his instructions and don't break his rules, it's an easy 4.0.
So far I hate this class. For the online course, he just gives the outline to the powerpoint he does in class. No worksheets or anything to practice. Your only resource is the book, and I swear that some of the questions on the tests are from his LECTURES. Seriously, don't take this class. I wish I could give this guy a review through the school!
He is the most terrible teacher I have ever had in my life. I highly recommend that you should not take his class. He enjoys failing his students. Very easy to get 1.0. Even when you took his PE class. He's not willing to help the student even when you come to his office hour. Very rude when answering the questions in class. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!!!!!!
I honestly think this class is really hard. 2 days of fitness center and 2 days weight room. He kicks you out if you don't suit down or try hard in class. I hate the classroom part. The book is hard to understand and quizzes are hard. He never writes things on the board. Don't take him, unless you want a bad day.
teacher needs improvement on teaching the class better. Terrible teacher, didn't learn anything throughout the quarter..
He is an awful professor. Never thought I would have to study for a health class. Half the stuff that was on the test wasn't even stuff that we had learned. DO NOT TAKE HIM!!!
He is the worst teacher i have ever had. I am a 4.0 student and i had to drop the class. He is super rude. His tests are impossible to do good on. I never thought my health class would be the class that i would have to study for the most. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
Mike is an awesome professor. i honestly don't know why there are so many negative comments about him. He is really clear about what is going to be on his tests. Reading is recommended but not mandatory. The multiple choice questions are from the book. If you are expecting an easy A, don't take this course but it's not incredibly hard either.
tests have seemingly trick questions and are nearly impossible to study for. grading system sucks
He is a horrible teacher. At the end of the quarter found out he dosen't even grade the tests, his wife does. I got 2.0 in a health class. He is super rude and dosen't know what he is talking about.
NEVER TAKE THIS CLASS. SOS. PLEASE DO NOT PUT YOURSELF THROUGH THIS. Listen up, the only reason you should ever take this class is if you don't care about your GPA. Behrbaum is the worst teacher I've ever had and does not care about his students. He literally makes you buy his book and there is an 100% chance he does not care about your education.
You really have to read the text book if you want to be successful in class. Also pay attention to his lectures because he puts questions on the test from his lecture. His tests have trick questions on them as well and can be difficult. Very small details are on the test so watch out. Overall not impossible but tough.
Though this is a PE class, put the same effort as your other classes. Read the book to solidify lecture info. You customize your workout after a few weeks of trying out machines. Helps you choose machines if you have prev. Phys therapy. 2 days of Aerobic, 2 days of the weight room. Everyone was supportive. work out days only 30min. Be punctual.
This has to be the hardest class offered at GRC. Super tough grader. One has to read the textbook if not you will fail. Participation matters as well. It isnt a PE class but rather it felt like an Anatomy class.
I took this class online so I can't really say he was helpful or clear. Every week I read a chapter and did the extra credit and took a test. Honestly the test were alright. I missed 3-6 questions on average. The last test was pretty difficult because none of the answers were online.
Good guy, interesting class. I'd take it again !
I took a PE class from him, and let me say that, if you value your grade whatsoever, STAY AWAY from his classes. I'm a 4.0 student who had to convert his class to P/NC to ensure it didn't ruin my grade. His tests are astronomically difficult. He is very helpful when you ask him questions, however. Go to lecture (!) and study the book, as well.
Had to exercise 2-3 times a week. The tests were 35 q's multiple choice, but they were all over the place and very random. Even reading the textbook was not helpful because the questions were so specific. Too hard for a 3 credit PE class
100% of your grade comes from 8ish tests that you take on each subject. If you skip one for ANY reason you aren't able to retake it, leaving you with a bad grade. He offers extra credit opportunities, but they don't help an awful lot, honestly. There isn't anything to do but do well on the tests and don't miss any!!
Worst teacher ever. I took his class online and your grade is only based on his tests pretty much, which has very random questions that I never even read in the book. I definitely would not take his class again.
For a class that's only an intro, his quizzes are extremely hard. You get 35 questions and only 25 minutes to answer them. I thought less than a minute per question was hard so I asked for help, but instead of help, he insulted me. He didn't show any concern. Your grade relies on those quizzes. DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!!!! NOT AN EASY A CLASS!
Had to do moderate exercise outside of class a few times a week. There were tests every two weeks on textbook reading. 85%+ in the class is a 4.0, so it's easy to do well. Just do the work and at least skim the reading, he's pretty lenient in grading, and he grades things quickly. Pre and post tests are running/walking/jogging a mile.
It's archery so he's quite easy going!
I've taken Berhbaum for PE165 and HLED150, both online. To do well in his classes it is most important to read the assigned chapters probably more than once as his tests are very specific, and include lots of little details from the texts you may have missed the first time. He's a really nice guy and his classes aren't too hard if you study a lot.
if you don't have to take this class, DON'T! Tests set you for failure and that is the only thing graded.
Exercise logs are easy to complete. Test are harder because they ask sort of random detailed questions from the book. Overall challenging because u have to completely read each chapter and try and gauge what is and isnt important for the test. Minor things like what % or people are diebetic or what food does blah are common types of questions
His class was fine, but you really need to make sure you don't just rely on the information he provides in his PowerPoints and lectures, you're going to want to read in-between the lines. His tests aren't too easy, so make sure you actually read the material.
Its quite confusing and can be easily misunderstood if you dont read the materials over and over and read between the lines! Seems the only thing that matters is your grade on testings. Still dont feel Ive learned anything useful from the tests. Unfortunatel waste of time. Hard to get in contact with the instructor for a better understanding.
Overall grading on weekly exercises and small assignments were a piece of cake, but the tests this guy gives you are extremely hard. The powerpoint note-taking guide is not helpful. Half of it is not even on the test. They are timed at 25 minutes for 35 questions which is really hard. Do yourself a favor and avoid this course online if you can.
The only homework in this class is reading from the textbook (& perhaps taking notes) and looking at the links/documents Mike provides to study for the tests. There's a test almost every Monday throughout the quarter, and they make up most of your grade. There's one extra credit opportunity per section, however they don't help much.
I had an A in his class but missed one assignment, which I did but didnt manage to upload. I emailed him and asked if i could upload it late because I had proof I did it on time, but he replied in a snobby way, failed me entirely and lied about having emailed me previously. His class is easy but he a helpful or compassionate teacher to me.
Wouldnt recommend him to anyone I cared about.
I thought this was an easy class. There are 4 tests that you have to take throughout the quarter that are based on 4 different chapters in the textbook. Just read the book and participate in physical activity and you should do fine. I don't know how he is in person since I took him online, but the comments he would leave on my assignments were nice
Easy class, but he can be condescending and arrogant for an online PE teacher. I would personally go with the other Behrbaum's PE class.
I would suggest this class but not this instructor.
