Allows use of TI-89 on exams (work must be shown though) allows corrections of all exams (open book/notes) exept final (50% back), several group projects. Somewhat harsh grading to balence things.

Davidson helped me understand Algebra (and other concepts) better than ever before. There was another student in the class that had failed Math 152 twice and got an A in this class. He makes math make sense and is willing to help outside of class.

Drop rate only due to summer session speed of class. Funny, fair, too many chances to make up points, but wants to make sure we KNOW the material. He's a great teacher and great person. Take him if you can.

I have a lot of respect for Mike Davidson. He is not only a very good teacher, but a good person. He teaches real math and tells you if your going to need this knowledge late on in class or life. If you really want to understand math not just pass take him. you won't regret it.

Mr. Davidson is one of those rear math teachers that really understand students who struggle with math, and guides them in a not so easy way but also not in a torturing form where people tend ot hate the subject. Davidson is honest, very blunt, knows and tells you what you must know.

Finally a math teacher with brains, a sense of humor, and a personality. A bit on the quirky side, but that's what makes him so great.I have always despised math, and have always sucked at it,but I actually enjoy his class, and not just for the funky t-shirts and kilt.I am finally getting it!!!!

The prereq was Math 154,etc for a survey class I really wanted to take. I was scared to death to return to College, and remembered very little of Algebra, however, this Professor taught me a lot in a very simple format; I can't thank him enough!

He is an awesome professor and I recomend him to anyone that struggles with algebra at all he will get you through it.

Mike is the bomb when it comes to getting through math if you're not a math or science major, if you can't pass his classes, you're in deep doo doo! i love him for the way he allows you to earn points back by correcting mistakes, essentially by learning from your mistakes. i recommend Mike to anyone

Mike puts most math teachers to shame. He's a wonderful professor, and just an all around fun guy. The best thing about this class was the option to correct your mistakes and receive credit for previous errors. I strongly advise anyone with the slightest grudge against math to experience Davidson.

mr. davidson is a great teach. as you see the comments from other students, he ROCKS. i was so nervous about taking the class for i have a learning disabitliy and was afraid i would fail, PASSED WITH A 'B'. TOTALLY RECOMMEND FOR YOU TO TAKE HIS CLASS FOR SURE.

he is a great teacher. really wants to make a difference. he'll give you everything you need to know, but think hard about your q's before you ask them. he gets annoyed by the slightest hint of ignorance. take his class if you want to learn some interesting (and disturbing things) and if you want to really understand amth.

Mr. Davidson is an incredible teacher, the best advice I could give is to take detailed notes. Everything he writes on the board is applicable to what you will need to pass tests. Ask no stupid questions, he will embarrass you.

if you are not a good math student, find out early on how to get extra credit on your math quizes and tests. You could actually do poorly on his tests and with extra credit end up with a good grade. Take excellent notes, somethings he says offhandedly can end up on a test. Great guy, doesn't love questions though.

Nice teacher and all around good person. i had him for math 4. he posts all of the last years tests online to look at before you take your test. HW not always required.

His two strongest character traits, which seem to be contradictory, are what make him a great teacher: he's very quirky and humorous yet also amazingly organized. I hate math but enjoy his class. Lots of extra credit opportunities. The only caveat is that he can occasionally be a bit rude or un-PC, but it's no big deal... overall, great teacher.

Davidson's face should appear in the dictionary next to the word sassy. He'll not hesitate to riducule anyone, but he does it so often, and in such a humorous manner that I'm not aware of any students being offended by him. I highly recomend this teacher.

I took the summer class so it might be a bit different but I really enjoyed the class. He made the time go by fast, was understandable, let me read and listen to my ipod all through while he was teaching and really wants you to have a good grade. Take his class!! He had strong opinions and often goes off on tangents but is AWESOME and hilarious.

Mr. Davidson is the best teacher I've ever had. I am TERRIBLE at math and have failed Algebra 2 (Math 152) THREE times before. I thought I was doomed, that I'd never be able to transfer. He is amazing and his methods helped me to learn math in a brand new way. I have confidence in math that I never thought I'd have. If you can, TAKE HIS CLASS!

He lets you use notes during tests and you can make corrections for half your points back. I chose to not use my notes and to not make corrections, and still got an A. I think it's because he's a good teacher and made me understand math. Take him before he retires! (Should be retiring next year).

Possibly the best math teacher at cabrillo... i dropped this class the first time i had it, but after taking it with davidson i completely understand everything! Get him while u can, he's retiring soon~

I have feared math for 40 years and always felt deficient. Davidson is the ONLY math teacher who makes sense! He is brilliant, hilarious, and utterly devoted to helping the student GET IT. He is also the most ORGANIZED instructor! He is utterly fair, and very cool. If I thought I could have him for every class, I'd major in math!

I had Davidson for both 154 and 152. He rocks. He's a math teacher, which means he a little wierd. If you don't get algebra, then his classes are for you. Only wish he tought more advanced math classes. Can seem rude at first, but that is just his M.O. By far the best math teacher i have taken yet.

He Keeps you entertained. Doesn't try to trick you in any way, lets you see what the tests will be like. Open notes! Explains things really clearly, with a few rants here and there. I would enroll in another one of his classes.

he is an amazing teacher...you must take his math classes! you will NOT regret it....as long as you take notes and generally understand you will pass no doubt. tests are open note and quizzes are group. homework is not required but good to do. there is no text book either!

Great teacher! Very funny, and makes math simple and understandable, even for someone who is not very strong in math. As long as you take notes and do the work, it's very hard not to get an A, or at least pass. His website (has preview quizzes and tests) is very useful, and he allows for test corrections, so you shouldn't have a problem.

You don't need a book! So awesome. Davidson makes math about as interesting and easy as anyone can, and he really wants you to succeed. Open notes on tests and quizzes, and his website is definitely helpful. Do the homework, it will benefit you later on. Take this class before he retires this year!

No doubt the best math teacher i've ever had!!! Very good at explaining. I'm horrible at math and he really explained everything in a comprehensible way. Important to go to class to get a good grade (homework is not required. take home quiz's). Best teacher ever. Take him spring 09' because then he's retiring!!

Do not take this teacher if you really need to learn math to go on in your studies! He's a great teacher just way too easy and doesn't prepare you for calculus. I warn anyone who needs to take calculus to not take Davidson for Math if they want to go on later. You will only be shooting yourself in the foot and then having to rely on crutches later

Yeah .. i agree with the last few posts .. if you just need a grade, MD is easy. If you need to go on in math take someone else (taurka maybe). Wont make you learn jack, its up to you. Easy A

He is very easy, however for someone like me who is very bad in math it was a god send. If you are not a math person I would had recomended him, but he is not going to be teaching next semester. :(

Excellent Teacher. He is retired now and too bad for Cabrillo. Students would sit on the floor to learn from him. Some of the CC staff did not like his style but he gave it to the students like it was no tricks bells or BS he was for real. No text$book to buy. Open notes test. Wish more teachers were like him. He taught real life stuff.

This man is fantastic! I don't know how Cabrillo manages to nab these great professors. I took precalc in the summer just to see if I could and thanks to this man I stayed interested the entire time. He was easy in that you didn't have to work that hard to pass but if you wanted to learn and/or get a good grade, he certainly gave you the challenge
