Dubuque is the absolute best! Just ask Skid and Mitch.
Mike is an AWESOME teacher... very easy to understand, very easy going, show some effort and you will pass easily. he makes physics simple to learn. FINAL is usually OPTIONAL!!!
He is an AWESOME TEACHER! He was the best lab instructor I think I have ever had. He makes everything simple, even when its really not. I HIGHLY recommend him.
This professor was such a good teacher. He made a really hard subject seem simple. Highly recommend his class.
MIKE is just tight.Lectures are easy to understand. He practically baby talks about the subject.Got an A. To Dean who didnt let him teach phys 226, you really should put on your glasses 'cause this guy helps students 24/7 and makes own rev. sessions
He is a very good teacher and he know his stuff! He is a croos between Tom Hanks Quintin Teritino.
Makes this class so interesting and fun!
He is an amazing teacher and you can tell that he really loves his job!Oh..and he's pretty cute too!
Great teacher and very fair grader, (generous curves) but this class can be very tough. Good students often struggled. Lecture problems he does are simple, but the quizzes, homework packets and exams can be killer. Go to his weekend study sessions, take good notes, and study from homework problems.

He's nightmare. Take Gunn if u want an A. Not worth risking ur grade for this class. his material, quizzes, homeworks, and tests are very hard. take GUNN. that's the best advice you'll ever get.
he is really cool. best physics instructor ever. pretty easy class, big curves, NO BOOK NEEDED. lab is even cooler than the class. he answers all the questions you have, you just have to do good on the quizes. have fun
great teacher! pretty easy and good instruction overall. he gives big curves and the final is optional.
Great teacher. Class examples were way easy than the exam and quiz problems, so that didn't help. The quiz and exams were REALLY HARD half multiple choice and half problem solving if you get them wrong thats 40% off. SUCKY structure.
Awesome, Awesome, Awesome He is just great. There are no other words to describe him.
Very generous in grading, VERY patient (some people asked the dumbest questions, but he still answered them... even if the same question was asked right beforehand). He makes physics fun with his examples and demos. He talks a little fast, so sometimes you can get lost (just ask him to slow down). Final is optional. Best physics teacher ever
great teacher, explains things well. make sure he shows his movie he made at the end of the semester. its the greatest.
He is awesome. So fun and exciting. A great teacher who knows his stuff and is excited to teach others, even at a school where there are virtually no physics majors.
Probably one of the best professors I have had at CSUF. Mike made learning physics fun. He is not a walk in the park easy A, you have to earn your grade, but you leave feeling that you got what you deserved and that you learned the material. Coming to class was actually fun

This guy is the best!!! teaches well, interesting to listen to, and real funny. He can kill you easily on hw and tests if he wants to, though he teaches well enough that you'll usually come out fine.
BEWARE!!! Teacher is funny and all but test are extremely hard. Good teacher overall. Take if you really want to learn.
he is good just come to class because in the end your attendance counts. I got an A both semesters. His tests are not the easiest but the curve is huge, and there is homework due each thursday. Not a lot of work. but come to class and passing is easy. great guy
really good teacher. thorough lectures, but somehow i felt like i was missing something in order to get an answer right on the test. quizzes aren't half as bad. i still ended with an A before the final, which meant i didn't have to take the final. Final was optional!
He is the best, take him and you will get atleast a B if you do the work and study about 1 hour for each test. The test are straight from the homework, he just modifies them. you dont need to take the final if you dont want to improve your grade a big plus around finals week!
he's a great teacher, take him and make sure you come to class and learn the material...also, do the homework and the package he gives you in the beginning of the semester..do not memorize the solutions because he changes the questions for exams..final is optional show up everyday and you end up with A or B..t's really hard to get a C in this class
He's a good teacher. Really knows his stuff. Exams tend to be somewhat hard but there's always a big curve. Go to all lectures and take good notes. Do your work and you'll end up with an A or B
Excellent teacher. I attempted physics 225 at JC and was passing but did not understand. His enthusiastic teaching ended with a 98% avg and comprehensive understanding. Very accessible for help. Uses humor and exhibits in order to bring complex material to students level. did not need to own textbook due to handouts and thorough lectures
If you are international student, Don't Take it. Multiple Choice would kill you. After you were tricked by these questions, he laughed. Even though the exam was curved by large range, it still cannot covered points which you lost at multiple choice part. However, if you are looking a easy B or guarantee C, take with him.
Great class! Do all hw and go to class early for help. Very helpful. The multiple choice on the quizzes and tests SUCK, but he usually grades leniently and on effort for the work out problems. If you do the work, definite C probable B. If you understand the material and do extra problems from the text, easy A. A little odd, but funny.
I had to take this course as a requirment (bio major) and I am not into physics at all. But he is an awesome professor, who wants his students to do well. Do all the hw and come into class early for OH and you will do well.
I'd say this guy is the best physics teacher in the department. He gives you a reason to learn physics - applies it to your life and everyday situations. He also has really funny stories behind his problems and his made-up characters and their band, and shows really cool physics demos demonstrating the concepts to you. Take him!! Also, cute!
Mr Dubuque is an excellant physics 225 professor. His lectures are crystal clear. His tests, quizes and assignments are very reasonable. He's extremely help at his office hours and tutoring sessions. Best of all, you DO NOT have to buy a text book for this class. TAKE HIM!
Difficult for lab. Quizzes are VERY tricky, and I am a 3.6 gpa student. I took Gunn for lecture, and I received an A in his class. Try to take Pongetti for lab, he's a little more chill. Really nice knowledgable guy, just has tricky quizzes that are curved, but just not enough to help you out in the end.
His test might be difficult to a certain degree but he also gave a generous curve (for my class, he curved 31 points on first midterm). His final is optional for students like me who got an A in class, which is awesome. He really made physics a horrible subject attainable. I strongly recommend him if u want easy A and also for those who are MCAT-er
very helpful with the problems that he assigns. Doesnt go off the book but his lectures are much clearer so DONT BUY THE TXTBOOK. His tests are somewhat simple but dont sweat them bc he has a huge curve on the tests and its not based on the highest scores but with the ave score. Uses many interseting example especially in the end of the semester
Class is very doable, but subject is tough. Mike will help u but will want u to figure some problems out 4 ur self. I got help from tutoring almost all the time. Tests r curved. 211 is tougher than 212. I got a B in 211& A for 212 both classes with Mike. If u r taking MCAT take Mike, he'll prepare u. Take Gunn 4 easier time but less in depth.
one of the few teachers at csuf that teach
I don't know why there aren't more reviews for Dubuque, but he's one of the best CSUF has to offer! He has a very straightforward style of teaching, doesn't require the book (he provides a packet that contains everything you need), and has huge curves on his exams. He goes through examples very quickly sometimes, but overall an excellent professor!
Dubuque is the man. TAKE HIS CLASS! His lectures are easy to understand, he has super cool examples, is pretty funny, and the best part is he does crazy curves on everything! Go to class and do your homework and you'll do well!
I took him for both 211 and 212 and he is the best CSUF has to offer. He has something many science teachers don't have at CSUF, and that's the ability to teach! Key points: book not required; homework counts and can be challenging; tests usually have a generous curve; OPTIONAL FINAL! Overall, I highly recommend him. His classes fill up quick!
Excellent professor and highly recommended. Not necessarily an easy class but makes physics much much easier to understand. All can be learned from his great lectures alone. Very fair is an understatement. Grading is structured to help student get points, not take points off like most other classes. Exams can get slightly tricky sometimes but fair
One of the most fair and understanding teachers to ever get teaching credentials. Mike will make you love physics with his humor and complete clarity, he is the real deal. This teacher almost made me switch my major, and I *HATED* physics. Even if you don't need the class, take it (if you can get in).
Easily the best teacher at CSUF. I am a Bio major and he made me wish I had picked physics. You will need to do the work and study hard, but you might surprisingly enjoy it in this case. Study hard for all the quizes. You don't have to take the final but its an easy one. I recommend you do it to boost your grade to an A! Good luck
Dubuque is an excellent teacher. The material is somewhat difficult but he went out of his way to make sure the class understood it with demos and explanations. He is very down to earth and approachable. Overall, excellent professor.
Took him for 211 and 212. Great professor! Enjoyed coming to class and learning. I feel like I have a great handle on physics because of his ability to explain things very well. Really makes you think. I would be thinking about the concepts we learned later in the week. Take him, you won't regret it.
He is a very great teacher. I didn't have him for lecture, but I had him for lab and he was very laid back and explained exactly what he wanted. Labs are interesting, and I would highly recommend him. very helpful and knows exactly what he is talking about. He keeps things simple and no tricks. In lec you only learn what you are going to be test on
Best physics professor at csuf by far! He makes it hard to not pass his class. Highly recommended
Great class! Made physics attainable and easy to understand. If you have to take physics, rearrange your entire schedule to take his class.
His lecture is very helpful, but his exams and quizes are very difficult.
Prof Dubuque is the hardest physics prof at CSUF teacher. his hw, exams, quizes are challenging. He is a good teacher and he does curve all the exams, but still difficult to get a good grade.
exams are tricky, but quizes are not too bad. 2exams, 4quizes, and final exam
His exams are very difficult! His lecture examples are way too simple compared to the exam. The quizzes are also hard. It is easy to pass his class with a "C", but it is very difficult to get an A. He is very chill and nice, but his exams are really hard.
really good teacher wish i took him for 211 also even though i got the same grade i learned a lot more. he lets you know the important things and prepares you to do work on your own. hw is handouts not online. drops lowest hw and quiz. optional final, does weigh on attendance. great guy makes physics semi-interesting which is not easy!
He is such a great teacher!!!! Best physics teacher ever! Explains everything well and he is very clear! Knows his stuff! SO charming! I love him! I wish I could take all physics class with him
Fantastic teacher. Tough course material, but his teaching style was clear and to the point. He is eager to help and definitely interested in what he is teaching. So long as you attend lecture and do the homework the class is easy to manage. Best teacher I've had at CSUF, hands down.
Excellent teacher!
Super clear lectures. He is very enthusiastic and knowledgable about the subject. Answered all questions students had. I would recommend him highly. He is available to help outside of class. Exams were rough but he grades fairly and with a curve.
Best physics teacher ever. Learned a lot and was interesting and got an A! Yay!
Best physics teacher at CSUF! Makes hard material easy to understand and takes time in class to make sure everyone gets a concept before moving on! Really awesome teacher and i highly recommend him!
I took him two semesters in a row, because he really is an amazing teacher. He makes difficult concepts easy to understand, and gives a lot of help with homework and studying for exams. His curve is amazing too, and he is a fair grader.
Very nice professor. 2 exam and one final. his curve is amazing. do home work and understand concept. his exam are challenging but doable. 4 quiz but tricky. But best professor so far at CUSF. Very easy going guy and make subject fun
EXCELLENT PHYSICS TEACHER. Although I hated the subject, he made the lecture very interesting. Great sense of humor. Hw is due once a week. Exams are hard, but the curve is amazing. No textbook required. Just study his lecture note. He uses a chalkboard, so make sure to copy them down in class. I wish to take him again next semester.
Physics is indeed a hard subject, so be ready to study in order to earn that A. Final is optional (depending on if you're satisfied with your grade). This means that all the people who have A's in the class won't take the final, and the test curve drops accordingly. His curves are absolutely amazing for the tests (2 midterms). Study and you're good
I took him for both 211 and 212. I had so much fun in this class although the subject itself was not the easiest of all. I'll say it briefly but I wish all the professors on campus are like him!! He makes the hard class soooo fun!
He offers amazing lectures, presents information well, and makes difficult topics easy to understand. His exams are difficult but he gives an amazing curve at the end. So far, he is the best instructor I have had at Cal State Fullerton.
Dubuque gives pop quizzes that are random. best to pretend that every possible pop quiz is a quiz. He says there is no text. But a text is needed to clarify things.
Although he isn't the greatest professor ever, he is by far the best out of the available ones in the phys dept. Cannot recommend him enough. Don't get me wrong, class was probably the most challenging ever but it was still fun to be in there. MAKE SURE AT LEAST LOOK AT THE PROBLEM SET SOLUTIONS FOR QUIZZES! Big curve on tests!
He is a professor you will talk about years after graduating. Very fun class, clear examples for a fairly difficult subject. Super helpful and his curve for test and quizzes is huge. The test and quizzes are tough but don't let that scare you. I was bummed that this was my last physics class. Highly recommend.
Great Physics Professor, he presents the material in a way that is easy to understand. Gives homework but you don't turn it in. Just use the homework to study for the assigned and the pop quizzes so keep up on it. He posts answers to the homework so you know if you're doing it right. Tests are hard but well curved.
hands down to the best professor of physics department. his lectures are awesome. especially in 226. do the hw, STUDY WITH OTHERS.
He is a very good teacher. His tests are difficult and homework isn't required but you will regret it if you don't do it. Its obvious that this professor cares about teaching. He is by far the best teacher at CSUF.
Honestly, the material is just hard. you either get it or you don't. He's very helpful. There's a curve. Attendance isn't mandatory but he takes it into consideration after final for overall grade.
Great professor! Gives quizzes but it's all on the hw he assigns, which isn't mandatory but definitely do it if you want to pass!! Material is tough, so STUDY! This class is def not a breeze, but is passable! The final is optional but chances are you'll want to take it.
Dubuque is amazing! 212 is much easier than 211. I had another professor for 211 but I'm so glad I took Dubuque for 212. Do the problem sets because it will help for the pop quizzes and the announced quizzes. Tests are reasonable and he is willing to help in office hours. He is enthusiastic about what he teaches and is very smart.
He was great professor overall. Some things to help your grade would be to do the problem sets everyday, and really understand conceptually the equations and concepts introduced. Tests are hard in general. M/C very difficult.
DO PROBLEM SETS!! Hard tests, but a lot of extra credit is given and there's a fat curve. He always does demos which really help with understanding concepts. If you want to UNDERSTAND physics, take him. Pop quizzes are easy points do the problem sets even tho they're not mandatory. He answers questions through email always. I'd take him over others
If you're planning to take phys226, you need to take it with Professor Dubuque! He is by far the best physics professor for this class! You will actually learn physics with his class. The exams weren't as bad as I thought they would've been. To study for them, just attend class and do the problem sets he gives you. He is also super nice and caring!
Professor Dubuque is one of my favorite professors that I've ever had. While he does give pop quizzes, if you do the homework you should do well because the non-mandatory homework is where he takes the quiz question off of. If you do well in the class, you don't need to take the final, and he has a potluck on the last day. He's the best!
Mike is a cool dude. Makes physics fun and engaging. For 226 there is no better teacher. The exams can be tough depending on what he "rolls" from his dice. Gives EC for catching mistakes. The final is optional and if you are close enough to the next grade he will bump you if you do well enough on the final. Quizzes count for almost half your grade
Dubuque is a very good professor for physics. 225 isn't the hardest class, but there are many different types of scenarios for questions, and he tends to try his best and make sure you understand how to answer as many as possible. He curved the class and cares if you pass the class, hence an optional final
Professor Dubuque is awesome! His lectures are informative yet fun. He really has an enthusiasm for physics which makes the material that much better. Do the problem sets he provides and the quizzes will be pretty easy. The exams however do require a lot of studying and are kinda difficult. SI really helps connect any missing pieces. Great class
Great professor. He is very fair with his grading, he gives some wicked curves when necessary. He goes quickly, but if you need clarification, just ask. Practice the problems from his homework, and know the concepts well, and you'll be fine. 3 exams, 3 pop quizzes, 3 announced quizzes, and an OPTIONAL FINAL.
Mike is such a passionate and enthusiastic professor. I love his live demos and how he explains physics concepts. His class was slightly difficult due to the constant possibility of pop quizzes, however, he grades very fairly and curves the class. I would have taken him again for 212!
Mike was by far my favorite professor. He clearly cares about the students and has such enthusiasm about physics. He does everything possible on his end for you to succeed, so you just need to pull your weight and you'll do fine. He has awesome live demos and non-boring lectures. He made me excited to go to class and I used to hate physics.
Mike was really good at using real world examples, funny homework problems, and class engagement to teach tough stuff. He does go a little fast in lecture, but he more than made up for it by being so empathetic, patient, and genuinely a nice human as I sat in his office lamenting each week, frustrated at my own struggles. Great prof, and kind man.
Feels impossible to pass and he doesn't make it easier on you. His exams (3), pop-quizzes (4), and optional final are insanely difficult and the only thing you will be graded on. He no longer takes questions from his problem sets so quizzes and exams look foreign, even after completing all PS. No study guides bc he chooses test by rolling dice...
Physics is one of the hardest classes I've ever taken.. this was online cause COVID. It was very difficult, never had enough time for exams or pop quizzes, hard grader. The only thing I like is the optional final and huge curve at end. HW is difficult and takes a long time but feels pointless cuz exams are way harder. Nice guy but very hard class
you get four pop quizzes in the semester. None of his quiz or exams match his lecture problems or examples. he is a great lecturer and a nice person but his class is made more to pass rather than learn lol. dont take him unless you like super hard exams/quizzes.
Do not take this professor if you have any doubts at your physics abilities! The course is very hard and only graded based on a few exams and pop quizzes. There is a decent curve but not enough to make up for the difficulty of the course. The exams look nothing like the lecture problems or homework problems, and no study guide. wouldn't reccomend
If u have never taken physics before, do not take this class. This is the first physics class you have to take as a bio major, & it has by far been the hardest thing ive ever done. Exams are 10 times harder than problem sets. Pop quizzes almost every class, but only 4 the semester, causing stress. 3 Exams, with optional final. HORRIBLE
No room for failure. Dubuque might be a nice prof. but he lacks empathy for students. If class averages are way lower than 60, that should say something. He curves but isn't clear on what your grade is in the class. He never answered my emails. Instead of a huge curve, why not easier tests? His practice sets are NOT like his exams or pop quizzes.
Best professor ever! Exams: 3 during semester and he curves each exam. Exam are semi cumulative. HW: 13 problem sets (10-15 questions). Not graded but helps you a LOT to prepare for exams and pop quizzes. Quizzes: 4 pop quizzes during semester. Drops lowest and curves at the end. HW helps to prepare for it. Final: Optional. Semi-cumulative. Curved
Have him for my PHYS225 lab. He is extremely tough on grading our lab write ups, and he doesnt even provide feedback, so you dont know what or how to improve on the next lab. You can put a lot of effort into your labs, only to receive on average a B- / C+. If there is any other option for a lab prof. , go that route.
Super test heavy, wouldn't suggest taking him
ONLINE CLASS: I understand why some students are upset. But he curved the exams and quizzes as much as he could. Drops one of the quizzes & the final is optional. HW not required. Open notes on exam & pop quiz. Good lectures. If you put the time in youll get the results you want. DONT CRAM youll end up failing. Just study the practice problems.
Be prepared to study for pop quizzes. Quizzes are not difficult. You will not have enough time to finish all the questions on the exam. For online class, we're able to use notes but it is better to know the material because of time. His lecture style is very easy to understand. Curves all exams and drops 1 quiz. Final is optional.
He is a really nice guy. However, both 211 and 212 are brutal. He records all lectures so that you can watch them again to study. Homework is not mandatory but is strongly suggested. The possibility of a pop quiz every class period is very stressful. Overall, he's a great teacher but buckle up... his class is hard.
He's mean. Tried to schedule a one-on-one zoom meeting to be more successful in his class and he makes you feel stupid. Tests are nothing like his lectures or homework problems. He sets his students up to fail. Do NOT take him. He knows what he's talking about but he doesn't help the students to understand. He ruined my mental health.
He is VERY strict and comes off as rude majority of the time. Took him online and during exams/quizzes if your wifi goes out, printer doesn't work, or have trouble submitting a pdf he does not care and will fail you. 4 pop quizzes in total but doesn't tell you when they are so every week you stress if there is one. He does curve his exams though.
I would not recommend this professor, I had to take him because he was the only option. I wish I would have just waited like my friends recommended . There are far better instructors. Avoid unnecessary stress that will be caused by the pop quizzes and time crunch to scan and submit online. Probably better in person not entirely sure.
Homework optional but necessary for the quizzes and exams. Potential pop quiz every week and lectures right after exams because he hates you. He will tell you to drop the class if you dont like any of his policies. He takes points off for tech problems even though his computer freezes every other class. Class averages are always low.
I hate this professors teaching/grading methods with a burning passion. The class average for every pop quiz and test is less than 50% and he only curves by the 2nd highest grade so enjoy your free 2 point curve. He doesn't care that everyones failing his intro physics class. AVOID NO MATTER WHAT, even if that means putting it off 1 semester.
Extremely picky grader. Entire grade is 50% quizzes and 50% lab reports. Reports are done in class and can be turned in the week after and quizzes were entirely based on the lab of the week before. Hes nice but you really have to ask a lot of questions to get a decent grade
For how hard physics is, Dubuque is a solid choice as long as you put in the work.
Dubuque is a super nice guy, but he's not excessive with his commentary & he's incredibly straightforward. Read again: he is very straightforward. That basically means that everything he says during lecture is going to be important, so take detailed notes and rewatch his lectures to fill in the gaps. Pop quizzes are stressful; just do the homework.
One of the best professors I've had at CSUF, lectures are clear and explains everything well. No hw just study for possible quiz every week but they're really easy if you go to the lectures and review the problems. The exams were pretty straight forward from the lectures.
Professor Dubuque is probably one of the best science professors I have taken at CSUF. The class grade is based on exams and quizzes, 3 of them are pop quizzes but just do the hw and you will be good for those. The way his grading works is also helpful. The class material is hard, but just pay attention and ask him questions and you can pass
This professor made the easiest concepts become so much more difficult. His curve is nonexistent if you are struggling and he makes NO EXCEPTIONS to illnesses. This isn't my proudest moments but he does pop quizzes and there are no make ups so I had to show up to class sick because I couldn't afford to miss a quiz. Not a slay professor or class
Best professor ever! Easy 100% pop/announced quizzes and tests as long as you do the problem sets and study your notes. Curves help tremendously for both quizzes (6) and tests (3)! Hilarious lectures/stories. Explains material thoroughly and easily. Makes physics interesting and not scary. First one done nearly every time. Wish I could take for 212
Grade is based on quizzes and exams only, and the exams are EXTREMELY hard. Most of the stuff on the exam he does not even teach us nor give examples on how to do it. 0/10 recommend unless you are very smart and pick up concepts easy. Quizzes are easy A's though (as long as you study the problem sets). This class will destroy your mental health
The goat of undergrad physics at CSUF! Take him any chance you get
Professor Dubuque was a good professor. His class consists of 3 Midterms, 6 Quizzes + Optional Final. For the midterms, they consist of 5 questions, 4 Multiple Choice, and 1 question that has multiple parts. He does curve the quizzes & the midterms + optional final. I would recommend taking him
prof. dubuque is truly amazing. im glad I took him for physics 211!
10/10, would take again. My favorite professor this semester. He explains the material to best help everyone understand it, and is extremely engaged and helpful during his office hours. He answers every single question in detail, and constantly uses entertaining demonstrations to help understand the current topic or segue into the next topic.
This class is very difficult, but Professor Dubuque is very good at teaching it. Just go to lecture, use the resources on Canvas, do the problem sets, and study throughout the semester instead of just before the exam and you'll be fine.
Probably the best Physics Prof. He knows how to teach physics in a way where students can understand easily. His quizes and exams are all fair game. Just do problem set and you are ready to go. Also his office hours are funny. He tells u his life story and sometime some wacky stuff at csuf.
My issues with Dubique stem from how he does exams. He says to study the problem sets, but from my experience this is not enough. I studied upwards of 15 hours over 5 days for his exams and averaged a 60% with curve. His exams are also only on about 1/10th of a units material so if the exam is on a part of the unit you struggled with then good luck
Do not underestimate the difficulty of this class. You must practice the problem sets over and over again so you commit them to memory. Exams/pop quizzes are VERY short & stressful. I also suggest watching his online lectures and studying a lot for his exams. ULC tutoring also helps. Trust me, you do NOT want to have to take the final. Good Luck!
Professor Dubuque delivers engaging, easy to follow lectures and uses live demonstrations for many of them. His grading system is entirely dependent on quizzes and exams, so it is important to study. He curves both exams and quizzes, which is very helpful.
If you get the chance to take him, take him! He makes physics easy to understand and he isn't boring. Homework is very dependent on the lectures, so be sure to not skip his class as he does not post any slides or notes on canvas. Exams are based on the homework/lectures, so do yourself a favor and do the problem sets he assigns.
Tough class, but worth it if you put in the work. Pop quizzes and challenging exams, but the professor is engaging and the material is interesting. unstuck study was super helpful for practice problems.
He's a good professor but I don't like how he does his exams. He will include problems that he didn't teach and no matter how hard I study, the best I got was a 60. Quizzes were similar to the homework. He curves the exams and the final is optional.
I'm not good at math and physics so the quizzes/pop quizzes were not helping me. Majority of his grading is quizzes and tests so there's not a lot of room for failure. He does give a small amount of extra credit at the end of his exam if you make him laugh. He goes at a faster pace compared to other professors.
He's the best professor: funny, lenient, and makes everything clear. Take him for an easy grade. There are weekly pop quizzes, but they help since the exams feel easy compared to the homework. The final is optional and only boosts your grade. If you fail, it's on you, so please don't slack off lmao!
Excellent professor. Greatly knowledgeable about course material, and lectures are consistently reliable sources of information. Very understanding and explicit about how to prepare for anything in the course. Grade curving is a savior in the class, providing lots of lee-way towards success. I highly recommend this professor.
This is THE physics professor to take & best professor I've had, full stop. Lectures are engaging & concise, which is a lot to say for what is generally regarded as difficult courses. It's a disservice to yourself not to show up. Only exams and quizzes are graded, but curved, so STUDY and put in the time. The final is also OPTIONAL!
No homework to cushion you grade. Pop quizzes are 6-10 minutes long and is a memorization game. Not a fan of Mike and the way his class is structured. I like his teaching style but as a person he can come off as callous.
Professor Dubuque is gives such great lectures, and the classes and demos in class are super funny. I loved every moment of this class. If you do the problem set and pay attention during lectures you should be good for the class
Great Proffesor! His practice problems are exactly like the exams. He does not assign homework, but recommends doing the practice problems for 30 minutes a week. There are pop quizzes, but he tells you the possible quiz dates on the syllabus. Your grade is only based on the quizzes and exams, so you have to really understand each topic.
