He is very cool and funny, but beware. There is a thin line between business and pleasure. Watch out with absences. I had a newborn at the beginning of the course and he couldn't care less about family life interfering with school. Also, don't be late.

Easy tests, but he does play favorites. He has a bad temper if you disagree with him, and he is egotistical. But if you love hearing all about his boring personal life then fine.

This teach taught an awsome class, arguement and debate, even though he made us attend one debate on a saturday, all in all if you did your work he graded good, and the class was fun, three hours but he only keeps like a hour and a half two hours the most.

Good teacher, he knows what he is talking/teaching about. His stories of Indianna are rather boring and corny, but hey, he's a corny guy with corny stories. His grading system on presentations are kinda hard and he PMS sometimes but OVERALL he's a good teacher. You get what you put in, in his class!

Prof. Echols is such a classy, upbeat person. He always stresses professionalism and is excellent at teaching nervous students to speak in front of others. I saw a girl cry because she had to make her first speech in front of the class, and he very gently and professionally helped her through, and it was a great speech. He is the best!!

OMG-- 2 small papers which are easy, quizzes every class but he tells you word for word wut the questions will be ahead of time. final is OPEN BOOK and midterm questions are right from the review. make sure to go to midterm review!!!! basically - show up to class - attendence and participation are key.

Very nice guy. Very respectful of others and will help you feel more comfortable with the class. He's also helped me beyond the class as kind of a counselor. Class is easy; no homework; only a couple of speeches along with the outlines but he gives plenty of time to complete. Very enthusiastic and fair with grades. I deserved an A and got it.:):)

Great professor, this is the second class I've taken with Mike, the first being SPE-111. You will learn a lot in the class, and the workload is very reasonable.

I really didn't enjoy the class, i had to drop it. Im very shy and this proffessor puts you on the spot which i didnt like. also i took this class at 8AM and he was VERY STRICT about coming to class on time and attendance.

If you're not a moron whose never picked up a newspaper you should do great in this class. I rarely shared the same opinion as him but he was still supportive of my participation and interested in what I had to say. Tests are easy but do require some review. I thought he was a great teacher and enjoyed going to his class.

You are crazy not to take this professor end of story. He's real down to earth, is funny, gets you all hyped up about material you thought you would never care about! To do well, TAKE NOTES, STUDY THE NOTES BEFORE TESTS/QUIZZES, SHOW UP FOR CLASS = Good grade.

he is one of the worst teachers. 1st off he acts like he is such a big shot n know it all when hes not. its always he's right n your wrong. also he is a really tough grader. he expects an excellent speech. n if your phone goes off in class you get kicked out. he also likes to make fun of people n point them out. he likes to tell a lot of BS stories

At first it seems like a really fun class i never minded going and there is fun activities that make the class speed by and he usually lets the class out early. However he stops the entire class and yells and talks down to other students for the littlest things.

Cool professor, I never got bored in his class. Only one test for the class, and if you memorize the vocabulary from the sheet he gives you, you will do fine on it. Somewhat tough grader, but the grades do reflect the effort one puts into the class.

This professor was the most amazing teacher i've ever had. Once you've had him, you'll wanna take him for speech. And i actually will be the following semester. Very fun and likable guy, makes the class fly. His grading is very strict. There are two speeches, one on current events and one on a personal interest, which are the bulk of the overall grade. Also there are two easy reaction papers. He gives a lot of helpful examples/stories. Highly recommend him.

Mike is funny and very well read. Doesn't take any horse play in class but does have a fun side. Pay attention and take notes and read the book. He assigns 2 speeches, one test and a couple papers. If you study and practice the speeches you will do OK. The first speech always has a lower grade since its your first one.

He makes the class actually fun, unlike some other professors. His class is very straight forward and as long as you do the work, which isn't much, its impossible to fail.

Don't miss class because this class goes over the important topic everyday. This class will have lots of project to do and he will give out samples that were graded A for you to look at! That helped me pass the class and there's one group project which is so easy!

His class is such common sense. Barely any homework outside of class and barely any tests. Only had to take one very easy vocab one. Only real work there is, is the speeches that have to be prepared but other than that you just get to sit and listen to him tell stories and be hilarious. So glad I took this class with him, easy A!!!

Professor Echols does a great job teaching his Mass Media Communications class. He makes the material to understand and incorporates videos and charts that are related to the topics we are discussing. If you pay attention and study for his quizzes you will certainly pass. I will be taking his speech class next semester. Highly recommend his class.

For his speech class he provides a lot of information for your speeches. Barely any HW, 1 test, 2-3 Speeches, 1 paper. The book isnt used heavily but is very useful for a group project assignment and studying for the first test. Hes very comfortable with students so he jokes around a lot so careful to the ones who dont have a good sense of humor

The best prof I had in Bergen so far ! He is very well organized and his lecture are clear. The assignments are very fun and entertaining. Easy to get good grades. Very interesting class, I wish I had two required semesters.
