This is an african teacher, he kinda has a heavy accent, but you could still manage to understand him. He was fun, and liked to make jokes

Dr. Fonge is a wonderful teacher! At first I had to get accustomed to his accent, and then after that it was smooth sailing. He answers questions without hesitation to WHY you're asking them, and he seems to love what he's teaching! His tests are very easy in my opinion, due to his lectures being the source of the answers on the tests, as well as he gave us a very helpful review. I reccomend Fonge if you're interested in LEARNING about SOCIO. and getting a good grade.

Put effort into essays- he reads every word. Use both textbook AND notes.

Dr. Fonge has a background that is perfect for sociology, as well as a keen, investigative mind. His accent is pretty thick, so it takes a bit of getting used to. However, once you are used to his accent, you'll find his lectures are very informative. He is perfect for building critical thinking skills, too. Just be prepared for a lot of work!

Very fun class, talks about real life situations. Students understand what is going on when in class but when you get to the test you have no idea what is going on. The book does not help. If you don't pay attention to lectures you are pretty much screwed. You have 3 tests and he drops lowest test, which means you need high B's or A's on 2 for an A

Without a doubt, one of the best professors I have taken at HCC. His lectures are extremely interactive and useful for his tests. The work load is not much but gives extra credit for good grade. This was a great class. It was very active, fun, and thought provoking for being an 8am class. He offers a lot of extra credit and I would suggest doing all of it, it definitely helped me secure a good grade. One of the few classes I was excited to go to.

To be honest his class is not easy. You need to study a lot if you want an A or B. 3 tests and 1 final, they're a lil tricky and tough, all multiple choice; 3 paper assignments. if you do all the work, come to class, and pay attention to his lecture, you'll get an A.

I took Prof Fonge spring semester of 2016. His lectures are very important in order to receive a good great in the test/final. He gives a study sheet for test 1,2 & final, but not for test 3. Why? Is because test 3 was the easiest. He does drop the lowest test. For anyone that says that this class is hard is because they did not try. I got an A!

Dr. Mike Fonge is one of the best professors at Houston Community College I have come across, he really cares for his students and always aims to assist them in passing his class. He also gives extra credit where its due. " if you drink , don't drive; if you drive, don't drink." I really enjoyed learning when taught by him.

Professor Fonge's class is fun and mostly easy. You do have to study a little bit if you want an A. If you don't like participation, this is not the class for you. He's constantly asking students to give their opinions and feedback. His test are mostly cover lectures and some of the book. He gives a lot of extra credit, so take advantage of it!

His tests are composed of notes you take during his lectures. He gives reviews and a lot of extra credit! Although his class may be a lot of work, it is very easy and his grading is not harsh! You must speak and participate in class! You cannot get lower than an A if you do all of his assignments and work hard on it!

Professor Fonge engages for the student to give their own opinion about discussions held in class. There are 4 exams which one is the final and drops the lowest exam grade. There are assignments and extra credit given. He makes sure the student understands what he teaches in order for the student to do well in the exams.

The professor is very funny, but occasionally gets mad if you are fooling around. Tests are easy, he gives a summary of the chapters and you can just study those to pass the test. I didn't buy the book, you honestly don't need it. 3 papers, 4 exams, few quizzes and one debate assignment.

My boi Fonge!!! He's awesome bruhs. His lectures are controversial but in a good way! they open your eyes as to how society really is. Morally right does not mean legally right! remember that!

He was maybe the best professor I've had at HCC. His lectures are very interested and tied into real-life examples. Follow his lectures and notes and you will be good. I highly recommend to attend the seminar out of class!!

I took Dr. Fonge last semester he is one of a kind .I don't usually write reviews but he really deserves one .I used to go to him during his office hours before each exam and he was always very helpful and welcoming. This class was so interesting and fun to learn. Fonge knows what he's talking about and you can tell he is really passionate about the subject. The classroom environment was a safe space to express what you feel. Although controversial subjects are brought up in class, Fonge is really respectful of everyone's culture and makes it a fun class.

I enjoyed having him for sociology 1301, he is a very good professor, participation does matter to him, but he motivates you and inspires you with his lectures. Did not even use the textbook, his lectures were the main key. He is funny, nice and will answer any questions if you are ever lost. He makes the sociology fun and interesting.

It is easy to get an A in his class. He gives extra credit do all of them its going help your grade in the long run. Each lecture he gives you his exam questions its up to you to do the additional reading in the textbook. Complete all the assignments and you will be just fine !!!

He is one of the easiest and most interesting professors I have ever taken. It definitely isn't impossible to earn an A in his class; in fact, it's pretty easy. As long as you complete your assignments on time and engage in class, you'll do fine. The papers might be the most "difficult" part of the class, but his instructions are straightforward.

He is very nice and you can tell he enjoys what he does. The exams can be a little difficult but they are open book, so work quickly and read ahead of time. He really encourages class participation and your cameras have to be on. This class was a lot of fun! Take it, you won't regret it.

I was hesitant on taking an online course bc its hard for me to focus but I like how Dr.Fonge managed to keep class engage. Participation matters a lot for him but it's not hard to do so. His assignments are decent and if sometimes he gives bonus assignments to the students who attend so it matters. Overall, he's good.

Dr.Fonge was an excellent professor. His online lectures are very informative and engaging with discussing topics in the news or media. His assignments are pretty self-explanatory, but they're easy to understand. He's somewhat vague with his email responses, but is very communicative after lectures and is a very friendly professor all around!

Lectures were interactive and enjoyable. Meetings were online and attendance was mandatory, and everyone was expected to participate in every discussion. You have to read the textbook chapters in depth because exam questions weren't very related to what was discussed during class.

Dr. Fonge gives great lectures and tries to connect with every student. Attendance is required and you need to have your camera on, but as long as you participate in class discussions he will like you. There are a few short essays and he grades well as long as you follow the instructions. Exams aren't related to discussions, so read the textbook.

Dr. Fonge was a very cool and laid-back professor. I didn't really care about sociology before taking him and now it's actually interesting. Has five exams, including the final, a couple of quizzes, and a discussion for each of the five modules. Discussions are pretty much essays about opinionated topics. Answers are all on Quizlet, easy A.

Professor Fonge's class was engaging, though exams could be challenging. Attendance was mandatory, but the format worked well for me. Unstuckstudy was a helpful study tool alongside the textbook. Overall, a solid course experience.

Professor Fonge talks alot, but he is funny at times. you might not learn every term necessary for the exams, but if you use your resources, you should do well! Make sure to do essays and follow the syllabus. Not hard at all.

Very engaging professor. His lectures are very inclusive, he wants to hear from everyone to prove his points. Can be really silly, but is very serious about phones and being late lol. I enjoyed his lectures, and I learned a lot from him and my classmates. He had one bonus assignment (optional). Be prepared to participate during the class. He is funny and cares about his students. You must have your camera on, this is for your attendance. If you're planning on taking sociology, I recommend to take him!!

I really enjoy his class. He opens all the assinments ahead of time so you have plenty of time to get ready. Class participation is necessary, everyone has to involve and contribute in his lecture. He's funny. TAKE HIM, EASY A.

To all the people who were complaining about the online class. Bro be fr, because literally if you just followed the directions ,and word count, boom 100. Yes, its a decedent amount of work. Like two essays a week, and a quiz maybe twice or once, and Test like once every one week in a half. Just make sure to manage your time well for essays.

I'm not sure why some people are complaining about his grading. He is very lenient in grading, and you are guaranteed an A if you do his assignments, exams, and follow his rubrics. Just FYI, for all writing assignments, add 2-3 references and you will get a good grade. He is very interactive with students which makes it an interesting class.

He is a good professor. As far as you do the work you're good. The only reason why i won't take him again is that he demands too much class participation which i'm not a fan of. He doesn't accept late work however his exams are taken in class(or sometimes at home) without lockdown browser or webcam so its pretty chill.

Simply amazing professor. I really do feel lucky that I got a chance to know him and to be honest he had so many amazing inspirational real life examples to encourage us and he teaches life along with sociology. He is clear with topics exams and contents he teach.
