This teacher is totally awesome. There's alot of reading but if you do the work you'll pass. If you don't do too well on the reports he's willing to work with you so that you pass the class. He cracks jokes all the time so he makes the class fun.
This proffesor is the bomb men let me tell you about him he is the easiest proffesor you can think of for sbs 318 he is going to make the course seem hard or complicated all the way through but let me tell you about him he is one of those proffesor that will help you out in any assignment 3 test 1 book review and 1 presentation easy B at least yeap
fun teacher, not great at teacher. is all over the place. easy "B" but dont expect a true learning experience.
This professor knows his material. If you're a lazy student, this class isn't for you. You've got to do the work, he offers tons of extra credit, and ultimately he just wants you to get the context of the class. Down to earth when you talk to him, he wants students to be successful.
He's a pretty good teacher, but I took him for the SBS 318 class he teaches and the way he the assignments througout the semester set up is very strange, so it does take a while to get used to it. My only complaint are the textbooks, which are extremely bias which is no better then reading a European textbook which is bias towards European history
I have to be honest, i got an A in the class but i have to say that other students in my class did just about the same work as i did and got Cs and C-s... i think his teaching style has no structure. i honestly don't recommend this professor if you are not going to do 100%.its either a good grade or a bad one, your grade will be a complete toss up
Very funny teacher and enjoyable. I would say he's a push-over because people wouldnt do their work and he would extend deadlines and it wouldnt be fair for those who met the deadline. Be sure to take notes on everything and read because its required for every test/assingment. Overall a very funny and cool teacher. He made us burritos de machaca
Excellent professor. I think extending the due date is great because many students have reasons they don't do their work on time. The professor is very understandable. He motivates students to do their assignments. I think as long as you turn in your work is what is important. Also the quality of the work is important not the due date.
Took online winter class, he made a 200 level course difficult. asked for too much. The test were demanding and only worth 10points. Never taking him again.
I took the winter class as well, and it was not hard at all. Just because it is a lower division course does not mean it is going to be easy-to think that is silly. I don't understand why a handful of DH students complain about the amount of work in a class. It's a university! The topics are amazing and progressive. He is very approachable and helpf
The topics are great! Prof. Fraga is very understanding-you just have to communicate. The course is fairly easy and if you follow the syllabus you are going to be fine. FYI-more professor should give bibli. when doing research. very insightful.
This was the Latino History class and I took it online for the 1st summer session. It was fairly easy. I learned alot from his video lectures and all the stuff that he posted for us to watch and read. He's very passionate about this topic. He extended deadlines alot and is very understanding of students. He's just a really nice and smart teacher.
This was an on-line class and a requirement for my degree. The Professor is great as he has a passion for the topic and covers the material well. A good mix between the text, lectures and outside material, a class worth taking.
He was an wesome teacher makes you think deep and his argumentation skills are highly advanced and empirically driven.
Online class was a waste of time. The videos were creepy and boring. Easy to fulfill class requirements.
I'm taking him for an Internet class and semester is almost over. I do not recommend him. He makes us watch youtube videos that are longer than an hour, plus read chapters just to respond to a discussion board. Made us do a book review. For our final we have to respond to two questions in essay format. Strict grader.
Online Course - Fraga is nice and understanding but he course took WAY TOO much time for a 3 unit course. Every week 2-3 hrs of video, reading oh and the book review as well as a research project & 15 quizzes...don't forget the DB. If this is your major you will like the class but if you just need it for graduation (like me) choose another course.
Take a different class. Unless you have no job and are not going to school full time, because seriously you must read the whole textbook, 15 quizzes, lots of DB's, pointless videos, book review, and a tedious reasearch paper, as if we were only taking his class...
This class is a joke. WAY to much stuff to do for a class im required to take as a upper division GE which does not pertain at all to my major. The structure of this class is stupid with vids that dont work and tons of reading..he even has two major assignments which involve tons of writing and reading...i wouldnt recommend him..
he is a cool professor i would recommend him. hes also funny which makes his class interesting and if you're a girl and he finds you attractive he'll like you even more. thats just something i noticed. there are no test for this class but there is a 6 pg paper required and a research paper, presentation
this class requires a lot of work, he pretty much guides you through it but you have to be proactive
He requires a lot of work to be done, and he's not always as clear as he should be. He has 15 quizzes that need to be completed, a book review (it's hard to read the addt'l book when you are focusing on another book in the class + other courses) and he's a very picky grader. Take it if it's the only class you'll take.
I do agree with all the students previous comments. It is a tramendous amount of work but I did manage. If you don't have to take the class...don't. Those DB's every week OMG,too much;quizzes just look for the answers in book, they were in order. But in no way did i read all that suff, you have to summize your way through.
I took this class online. There was no textbook but there was a lot of reading (pdf's) and viewing assignments. Discussion boards were extensive and there were two book reviews. He is passionate about the topic of immigration. Good teacher.
Professor is very passionate about Chicano studies. I took his online course for spring, and it required a lot of reading. Of course, it is a college level course. I personally found him very clear on what he expected. If he realizes that you keep up with your work, he is nice enough to not deduct many points away from late assigments.
I watch you on Time Warner, on Session 6 Fall 2011, and I learn ed things about history that I never know. It was refreshing for someone that works in international affairs. To understand why things are what they are., Keep up the great work. I will refer you videos for download on youtube. DeVon Bell CEO of the Kemetic Pipeline International,
Took him while as a full time student, 18 units. I've never gotten so much work for one class in my life. I strongly recommend you DO NOT take this class if you have 18 or maybe even 15 units. It is A LOT of work. But as a professor he is very smart and loves what he does. Well educated (UCLA) so you know you are getting quality instruction.
Here's the Skinny, the guy is super smart he knows his stuff. Problem is,I don't know the stuff, and when I write a paper and receive a less than satisfactory grade,I understand.I just wish he would indicate why the work wasn't up to his standards, so that I could do better on the next paper.I learned alot but will get a low grade for lack of input.
Class is overwhelming at first.Follow directions closely. If you can't write a paper or have good English skills, you will FAIL.You have to read the WHOLE textbook. Quizzes are easy. No exams but a butload of writing. postings are like weekly 1-2 page papers ( if you want an "A". Gives extra credit. I learned so much. I don't regret it.
This is the most interesting class I took. The reading material is well selected to help students understand the subject. Lots of work, lots of reading (but it's good selections) He is very responsive to email and is clear in his expectations. I do not regret taking his class.
I think he meant well, but he was unorganized and constantly added work to the website without notifying the students. He gave too much work for the amount of time given. The videos required were hours long and very unrealistic for the students (which is why they took an online class to begin with-they were short on time). He is also a hard grader.
He's very easy. Theirs a lot of work. You have around 12 quizzes on "The Harvest of Empire." (super east quizzes)You also have a book report and other papers as well. At the end, you have to do a group presentation. Fraga makes the groups up, not the students. Overall, the class is very easy. I got an A
Starts off well then changes methods halfway through class and piles on work
This is a very interesting and informative Class. I took the online course. There is a lot of work required for this course, if you have the time he's great. I am a 4.0 student but found it to be very time consuming. I worked for this A.
He is a great professor. If you do his work you will be able to pass this course. He works with the students. He wants students to succeed. I will recommend him to anyone. Students that failed his course did not put enough effort as they should. Professor Fraga is a must take professor.
I had him online and it was horrible. he piled on the work and expected us to watch 3 hour videos of him just talking.
I took this as an online class. Very easy. Your work is posted by week and its not that much. He is SO helpful if you visit him during office hours. Recommend the class!
Good teacher...thought about dropping the first two weeks, but i stuck with it and earned my A. Questions? go to his office, he is really helpful and understanding!
He is a great prof! Class is actually easy. Don't let all the work and deadlines fool you. In the end he made all the work due at the end of the semester. I did all my work last minute and still got a B.
Mike Fraga is an amazing professor! He really knows how to grab your attention. Funny jokes, in class props, and shirts make going to class enjoyable. All he really asks is that you come to class, do the work and care about your education. He really pushes for his students to excell by offering E.C to those in need. TAKE HIM, you won't regret it!
He offers a lot of extra credit; he wants his students to all earn an A. You need to attend class or he will dock off A LOT of points. He makes class fun :)
Very Intresting class. If you pay attention, take good notes, and do your reading, you should be fine. Great professor, he definitley works with his students and cares for their grade. He offers alot of extra credit assignments, there is really no excuse for not passing.I definitey recommend this class.
Good professor. Lots of material to cover. Lots of reading. Was able to scan over and still get A. Test are so easy. Paper is easy. Available for questions. Wasn't excited about class before hand but glad I took it. Such important and relevant information about history of the Americas and Latin Americans her and abroad.
Fraga is really passionate about Chicano Studies. Even though,I am from this heritage I was not interested in taking this course because it sounded like a History class. However, throughout the semester;I found lectures interesting. Failed all exams but the extra credit earned me an A,so that is a plus. Do all extra credit and you shall be fine
Fraga was great! I wanted to drop the class because he requires way too much reading and writing. However, the extra credit helped. I was sure I would get a C in the class, but I got an A. He made the topic worth understanding, even though for a 3 unit class, he taught it like a masters program
I had no interest in history. Professor Fraga made the class so fascinating to which my interest elevated. Class requires abundance of writing assignments. Online exams, 1 group presentation, 1 book report, special projects (reading & writing). His lectures and instructions are crystal clear. Intelligence shows(UCLA & Stanford graduate)Awesome Prof
WORST teacher ever. Takes attendance at end of class after the class has already ended and continues to lecture. Way too much work required for a GENERAL ED class. Says you have options on what assignments, but you have to complete so many in order to receive a decent grade. Also study guide for the final exam is a joke. No help what so ever :(
Do not take this class. Too much work is required. Very strict grader, but doesn't provide reasons why you got particular grade. All assignments done online, but class is not a hybrid course.
This is not a hybrid class and All the assignments and exams are online. Extremely hard grader. I am a senior and have always received 85-95 out of 100 on ALL my essays. With him, the highest I got was 30/50. Gives no feedback. At the start of the semester he goes extremely slow, and then torpedoes trough the current interesting material. AVOID!!
Love this class ! Love Fraga, he makes an interesting class even more interesting and fun. Explains it well ! I wouldn't take Chicano Studies with any other professor.
Fraga is a very passionate about this topic. He's a nice man but his class bored me. You have a group project (he assigns the groups) that you pretty much work on all semester. He does have tests, but you do them with your group. No final exam, just the final group presentation. It's pretty impossible to not pass this class.
Professor Fraga is a very professional instructor that gives the most options to get a high grade. It is what you put into his class that matters.
Pretty chill and funny teacher. The whole semester was just powerpoints but they were informative. All his work and assignments consist of reading and doing couple essays, not too many. He makes it so easy for you to pass his class.
Horrible professor. Uploads exams and discussion boards 2 weeks before the end of the semester and expects students to accumulate 940 points to pass. Assignments are 2-3 pages and the exams are essay format. Very unclear teaching instructions. Grades hard. Has us doing a remedial observation assignment in communities as if we are in high school.
Professor Fraga is passionate about class' subjects. His passion makes the message very clear. He balances the class with great lectures because he really covers ethos, pathos, and logos; I really enjoyed his class. Assignments are to be optional. He is a tough grader but at the same time, he provides specifically what the student needs to write.
He's hilarious but at the end assigns long papers and powerpoint but it is an easy class.
Professor Fraga is one of the most interesting professors I have encountered. It seems like a lot of work at first but it really is not. There is just a variety of work that you can choose from. He really cares and wants you to pass his class. His lectures are amazing and he has incredible knowledge.
He was amazing! Very inspirational and so awesome. You can really tell he loves what he does. Although he does assign everything last minute, he has a ton of extra credit through out the semester and still accepts everything that you haven't done until the very end of the semester. He's really easy to pass. Just show up and do the assignments.
Fragas is an enthusiastic teacher. The class is not boring, but you will have to write and read a lot. If you do the work, you should do fine. You will walk away from this class understanding the perspective of history from the stand point of the oppressed.
Professor Fraga is very passionate about teaching. He assigns a lot of reading, in addition to video lectures. His grading rubric is confusing at first, but he really doesn't make it difficult to pass with an A because he assigns a lot of extra credit. He's very accessible and always willing to help students.
Fragas is a good teacher, but what he is horrible at is writing Quizzes. He seems fixated on confusing u by not making questions clear. Do not take his class unless you want to learn but not get the grade for it. He likes to try and make his quizzes hard by tricking you and not actually finding out what u know on them!!!!
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS! This is one of the worst instructors I have every had. It's too much reading, too much writing, too many long boring lectures for a GEN REQ CLASS!! The test and assignments are not clear. It's like he is setting you up to fail. I hope I never cross paths with him again! RUN!
Self paced class, you can either turn out a bunch of dumb papers, or a few good papers. Your choice on what assignments you do. Lectures were prerecorded and aren't edited, and an hour long in addition to several long supplemental videos and 2 books to read. Overall a really boring class.
There are too many horrible things to say. AVOID this teacher!!!
Passionate professor that offers a plethora of opportunities to get points (grading scale is out of 1000 points but offers over 1500 points in assignments). To those who complain that the workload is too heavy please understand that you're at the university level now. The lectures are all recorded but they're very much relevant in today's world.
The subject matter and lectures are interesting. I learned a lot. He gives 4 quizzes and one final book report. Assigns 3 essays per unit, your choice of which to do. I had a hard time with the quizzes, but he gives you a chance to make up for it by writing more papers. Not a problem for me because I like writing. Overall, a good online class.
This professor gives you A LOT of work. He is all over the place he makes you watch videos that are bad quality so its hard to understand. He is very disorganized. DONT take him. Not worth it he gives you soo much work.
I really enjoyed taking him for Chicano studies because of his hard work and dedication to the class. It was quite challenging. The professor was so dedicated to his work. He wants each one of his students to learn and appreciate our culture.
Hes an amazing professor that expects a lot of you like any other professor but is just as well reasonable, approachable and accessible. His quizzes do include questions that may be confusing but overall if you take a good amount of notes you should be fine. He was nice enough to offer all of the pdfs to the required texts and extended deadlines
Okay so he's cool ONLY IF YOU ARE ORGANIZED! He is not organized at all. All of his assignments are due the very last day of class. It's a self paced class so you have to be on top of it. If you take him it's an easy A just do all your work on time. It's easy too put all the work off because it's due on the last day but don't do it.
This has to be one of the worst professors at this University! He gives extremely long lectures, read a full book and makes you watch movies for 3 written essay assignment and a 45 minute quiz due in 7 days online. Gives way too much work for the little time due. Please do not take this professor, he sets up students for failure.
Professor Fraga really cares about the courses he teaches and that students understand the severity tied with the Chicano movement. I learned a lot about history and myself by taking this course. He gives students every opportunity to get an A if they put the effort in. I did have to write at least 8 essays, but the grading rubrics are clear.
First of all, takes off a lot of points for everyday youre absent. Its all about the points in this class, literally. He is a tough grader, he reads everything you write so you will not score exactly the number of points given. You will have to do more than asked. Too much work for 1 class.
Professor Fraga is one of the most passionate professors I have known. He does make you earn your grade, reading and writing papers heavily. I honestly believe his class was not easy but well worth learning all the important information.
Mike Fraga is obviously knowledgeable and passionate. Unfortunately, his online class is extremely difficult. This class is designed to let you work on your own pace, but the extremely long lectures are difficult to watch. Also, his quizzes are also close to impossible. There are 3 papers per unit, but it's best to do all of them if you want toPAS
all i have to say is... good luck
Do not take this professor if you are not a humanities or chicano studies major. Very hard, tons of papers, hours of lectures, and he grades really hard. If you are taking other classes don't do it, you will not have time to sit down and humor him and his fetish for beans.
Lets be realistic, this class is UC leveled. You should watch all the videos and read all the material, otherwise the assignments will be confusing and impossible to do. The quizzes are very hard. Plus, the papers are straight forward so do them all to guaranteed 200 pts. The + is you learn a lot. Please DONT take this as an easy way out or F
This class can be pretty depressing, it's content is depressing, but you do learn a lot. There is A LOT of work. DO NOT LEAVE IT TO THE LAST MINUTE. The reading and videos for the writing assignments are long. I really liked this class and the teacher, but I waited too long to do the assignments. Thankfully I barely passed.
I know he isn't for everyone but I thoroughly enjoyed his class and I learned so much. It was hard but totally worth it. My friend took the class with me and she was even more impacted. He is knowledgeable and passionate. I was happy I had taken the class.
Hes very passionate in his lectures. His online class used his voice recording as a lecture so it was a bit difficult to take notes. As longn as you did all the work, it would be easy credit. I ended up skipping all his work, and he emailed by 2 days before grades were due and told me to pick it up. I passed because he gave me a chance :)
Honestly, there is a ton of material to go through in order to do the essays and quiz, but Professor Fraga gives you ample time to finish it, it's really on your end to actually start. He's very clear on what he expects in the essays. Slacking off is not recommended if you take this course.
Mike's IDS online class is very tough, but good. Each week, you'll be assigned with long lectures and documentaries to watch, along with reading the course book and articles. Please, do not take the quiz or write a paper with out understanding the material. I tried going around it, but no. If you score high on the quiz then do two paper if not 3.
took him for summer 2018 it was a 5 week course. He is very passionate about his lectures and teachings. I didn't have to buy a text book but he provided the readings via the campus site (free) . It is about 2-3 essays and 1 quiz a week INTENSE if you do take him do not add it for summer session you will regret it!! I didnt have a life (
Mike is a passionate teacher. He helps you understand his curriculum in order to pass the class. People who say his class is difficult are people who really did not understand his curriculum. That is why you have to ask questions! He is a terrific teacher. He also helps out with A LOT of extra credit if you understand his curriculum.
I can't stand this class at all. The workload is ridiculous when you're trying to take other classes as well. I am tired of hearing this man say, "we need to appreciate blah blah blah" or his reference to beans. Please do not take him unless you have all the time in the world. I don't expect any class to be easy, but this man's class is ridiculous.
He truly cares for his student's education. He makes sure you understand the work and helps if you are having difficulty. HE'S A GREAT TEACHER!!!
I just started the class but even though he gives a lot of work he allows you to complete it throughout the semester. He gives you recommended due dates but it doesn't have to be turned in that day it is just so you can stay on track and not do everything last minute. He only has two required deadlines which isn't until the end of the semester.
Tough grader. Dont recommend taking it. Lots of work, lectures heavy through online videos that are hard to understand and dont have captions. Im scared of failing.
This class is a joke! I never give bad reviews and always do fairly well in school. This professor makes you listen to his 1992 quality recorded videos on youtube where he calls everything "racist" and rambles about the same concepts for long periods of time....... get to the point already bro! This class is horrible I highly do not recommend.
This class is very difficult. The quizzes are extremely hard as he expects you to watch around 10 lecture videos which are 30-45 min long and difficult to understand plus read 1-3 chapters then take a quiz on all that information in under 60 min. He is also an extremely tough grader on the papers which sucks since this is not n English class. AVOID
Avoid this professor!!! I have never felt so disillusioned as a student then I have while taking his class. Mind you I took this class for fun and I thought that it would help me connect with my roots, but I have felt the opposite because of him. Expects students to sit and watch multiple hour-long lectures just to complete one single assignment.
University level class, which means a lot more work. Expected. Professor is dedicated and wants students to pass.
I cannot stress enough how bad this prof. is. He forces you to watch videos of him lecturing when you could just read notes much easier. He's hard to look at and his opinions outlandish to the point of questioning his credibility as a teacher. This class should not be this difficult, forces a book report to pass. difficult/confusing/unintelligent
This man thinks everything is racist. He is the perfect example of someone who should not be teaching. Spewing misinformation while "teaching" through the most absurd ways possible. This is like taking 3 classes instead of 1. Makes it so much harder than it needs to be. I wish I dropped this class b/c it takes so much of my time. Stay away from him
Was nice enough to curve my A- to an A and his standards were clear from day 1. Course demands extensive time for reading and essays. Attendance mandatory. My problem was how he spent classes making us watch Democracy Now (sometimes an entire period) or ranting against Trump or "beans" when those 3 hours could be spent on something productive.
Professor Fraga is extremely helpful. His class was great.
An amazing professor, lectures are amazing and funny. He notices if you are paying attention.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. He expects you to read multiple chapters at a time, watch 3+ lectures that are around 45 mins each plus a quiz and assignment and documentaries for each unit. And theres a book report that you must pass in order to pass the class. Plus you cannot get any extra credit unless you pass the book report. Worst class experience..
Winter 2020 term. In short: Be prepared to put in the time and take notes on the video lectures & readings, or you wont get good grades on the papers/quizzes. Mike offered extra credit and is really passionate/knowledgeable so you will learn. Also, there is a mandatory book review.
Too many papers! Makes you work for it! Great professor though.
Avoid at all cost. Took him for Immigrants in the US and I was so overwhelmed with the many readings and essays we had to do. The lectures were 1-2 hrs long, video films were 2+, he uploaded everything on the first day and it is your responsibility to teach yourself. 14 quizzes(40min), 1 book review tht counts for your whole grade
Professor Fraga is very passionate about the class topic and gives very long and informative lectures. Each week consisted of 3 or more lectures ranging from 30 min to an hour and a half long. Reading the textbook was required as well as accessing other links he provides in each unit. Gives weekly tests and weekly essays and a 4-6 book review.
This is by far the worst college course I have ever taken. We are in the midst of COVID and he expects students who could be working crazy shifts, tending to children in school, or dealing with mental health in this crazy time to watch 2 hour videos, read 2 books (& know it word for word), plus additional readings and videos. Ridiculous. AVOID!!
The 14 quizzes, the 8-10 papers, the 2 hour lectures plus article reading plus additional videos that are at least 1 hour, or the 2 text books he wants you to know every detail of all make this a class to avoid at all costs! The course load is excessive for online course. He should remember that college students have jobs, kids, & other classes.
You have to work for your grade for sure. It was tough getting through the class with work, and having little ones at home. At the end of the day once everyone went to sleep I dedicated 1 to 2 hours of homework time. I just emailed him when things came up and he was SO understanding. Most of my professors will not be flexible with you.
Professor Fraga was one of the toughest yet more amazing professors Ive had at DH. He definitely challenges you, I recommend this class if youre interested into an in-depth of Chicano studies or if you have a lot of free time! The work load is a lot and it feels like essay after essay but I enjoyed it overall, work for it and youll get that A !
Yea, he alright. A lot of class work but so what easy. His lectures were pretty clear.
This is my first week and I'm already impressed by his lectures. He makes the subject really clear and you can tell he is really knowledgeable and passionate about what he teaches. I am enjoying his lectures so far and wish I could take him in person.
This Professor gives you a big workload to finish in two weeks, and when he grades he expects ver tedious details in your writing, not lenient AT ALL!!!!! His tests are timed and there is not enough time to finish ALL the work he provides you with. He does try to work with you towards the end of the semester, but it' so rushed because its so late.
AVOID!!! Apart from the lectures in class, he still expects you to go home and watch videos that are 6hrs+ per week and pre recorded lectures. He expects us to teach ourselves and to complete the 6-7 timed quizzes. Also is a harsh grader, discussions are 500-750 word count and grades very harshly. I wouldn't take a course with this professor again.
Walk away, don't do it , DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY. This class was the most overwhelming class i ever had. Gives us so much work, literally thinks we don't have a life outside of his class. Makes you watch 1 hour long vidoes for a simple task. Literally wants you to know the book word by word and his vids word by word to get a good grade.Stay away!
This professor shares great information however is a very HARD grader. Gives you writing assignments and wants so much information in the assignment. Like every single video he has must be mentioned or he takes away points. He gives long comments/feedback but should give you an opportunity to turn in the essay again like he does the quizzes.
DO NOT TAKE. Explore other options for the Ethnic Studies GE. Attendance is mandatory despite the lectures being almost entirely him playing videos. He will keep you late, too. For the discussion posts, it doesn't matter how perfectly you answer the question. You need to basically write "I WATCHED X VIDEO AND GOT THIS FROM IT" to get full points.
This professor is horrible. I have always been a straight A student and I'm failing his class. I'm warning you do not take this class if you want credit. You will not pass it is almost impossible and all his test are impossible to get right and he will grade your paper so thoroughly you will never PLEASE HIM. DO NOT TAKE.
Actually the hardest, most frustrating class I've had my 3 years at CSUDH. I took this class as a general requirement and it turned out to be by far my lowest grade. I could simply never figure out what this professor wanted. One of my responses to my writing, which got 0/25 was, "Name: this does not address the requirements for the assignment."
Very difficult, by far the hardest professor I've had my 3 years at CSUDH. This led to my lowest grade in my record. The professor is impossible to figure out, one response I received to my discussion post response that I genuinely believed to be good was: "Ricardo: this does not address the requirements for the assignment."
Prepare to put in serious work for this class! Professor Fraga has high expectations, but if you engage with the material and utilize resources like Unstuck AI, you can succeed. The workload is heavy, but the course content is engaging. Stay on top of readings and assignments, and you'll come out having learned a lot.
Very passionate and knowledgeable professor but, that's only good things I can say. He's very confusing at best in his directives on his syllabus and his grading. A little hypocritical at times when says to communicate with him but, when you do its still not good enough. For professor he should improve his social skills with his students.
Fraga is a very passionate professor, which u respect in this line of work. However, his political views get in the way of teaching his lessons and he will go on tangents that will never get back to the original topic he was supposed to lecture on. It feels as if he has so much on his mind that he wants to say that he doesn't know where to start.
This class is that rarest thing: important. Dr. Fraga's analyses of US Immigration's machinations are VITAL, esp. now. The workload is in no way heavy, esp. if you take it online w/ the lectures at your leisure. You will LEARN here, and Fraga is a funny guy (listen to his asides). Learn about the machine you're in; Fraga is coming from the heart.
Content heavy but interesting. Several timed quizzes, 2 attempts given . 5-6 essays, docs points if u don't address every single resource he uploads. 2 larger essays, graded w/grace as long as u put effort. Passionate professor who challenges you but you are better for it.
Never enough and gives no helpful feedback on the assignment, Outdated lectures that don't help at all
There's a lot of work but as long as you manage your time properly, it's not bad. There's are tests and a discussion per unit and there is a lot of reading and videos you have to watch. He's a very fair grader though and at the end of the course the amount of points needed to get an A is less than what Canvas says. I'm excited to take another class
