all your test are in the cd. easy lecture course.
This is a very difficult teacher, his test are difficult, and lecture is too fast. Most people have to retake his class.
He provides notes on his website that helped me get A's on all of his tests. His lectures are hard to follow but he gives lots of points when he curves his test grades.
hard to understand and goes way too fast. I HATE POWERPOINT--WHEN WILL TEACHERS REALIZE IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!
This class was so hard...I'm the only person I know who spent two weeks in Hawaii and hated every second.
Lab is more difficult than lecture & counts as almost 1/2 of your overall grade. He lectures from notes on website, is happy to answer questions & works w/the student. His tests are 90% from notes. Quizzes are tough-this is a hard class to begin with!
i also took his bio 1406 and 1407 classes, very easy, never went to class and got A's. Notes on internet. The people that say he's hard are idiots.
Material comes directly from the internet exam notes.
this professor uses powerpoint exclusively. he is interesting but is never available outside of class to answer questions. this was the largest class i had at NLC in terms of number. i did NOT enjoy it very much.
This class is not hard. Pay attention...print out the notes from the internet and read them. Most test questions come directly from the notes. Study and you will do well. I would recommend him to anyone for lecture 1406.
He's a great teacher. His lecture is fast and the tests cover lots of info, but if you can't handle that, you shouldn't be a science major. He's the best teacher I've had so far. Without his teaching methods, I would've had a much harder time in biology & even in chemistry. He's very willing to help
Very good Bio teacher. He made me take interest into Biology. Highly reccomend, however if you do not like to read the book, you will fail the quizzes. His lecture covers important topics and the book is crap. Don't waste your money on the book, Dr. H teaches everything needed to know.
huddleston is a great teacher a little difficult but thats makede it interesting, everything was on the internet for easy access, he has a passion for plants if you want to be inspired go on the hawaiian field studies trip
He's AwESomE
Very good prefessor. I enjoyed him a lot. He covers the material and what is to be on the tests thoroughly. I highly recommend him.

Very difficult class for an idiot like me, but the extraordinary organization and class plan made by Mr. Huddleston allowed me to pass with a B. ALWAYS go over your PowerPoint layouts before tests and keep them organized and you will pass.
he's easy, no need to waste your money on the lecture book, all you need is the lab book. pay attention in class and you will do just fine. all his test comes from his ppt slides. all lab test comes from reading the lab book and make sure you take pictures of the objects in lab, bc they will help you A's all the test.
Nice Guy! Not so much as an easy class though...Did the Hawaii thing, goin to Hawaii was fun of course but a hard class I got a C and I though I should have got a better grade.
Very hard lecture/lab, I went thru hell and thought i'd pass, but found out I have to take the class again. I'll try a different teacher. He just read the words on the slides, didn't explain much as to how things work or what they did. Very disappointed. Talked more about plants than organisms....
Great professor. Very clear in his lectures. All tests come from his powerpoints which you download from the net. I'm taking his 1407 now just to pump up my gpa!!
The test are not as hard as 1406 but you really have to understand the material.
AN EXCELLENT PROFFESSOR. I ALWAYS HAVE FUN IN HIS CLASS. GOOD SENSE OF HUMOR :) HE'S NOT HARD AT ALL. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS PAY ATTENTION AND THAT'S IT. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS PROFFESSOR AND I WILL TAKE 1407 FROM HIM. HE MAKES BIOLOGY REALLY EASY AND INTERESTING. ANSWERS EVERY QUESTION, NO MATTER IF IT'S ASKED 10 TIMES :)GREAT MAN. GO FOR HIM!!!
SIMPLY AWESOME. ANYONE FOR BIOLOGY, GO FOR HUDDLESTON FOR LECTURE AND DEMPSEY FOR LAB. I LOVE YOU BOTH HUDDLESTON AND DEMPSEY. LIVE A LONG AND HAPPY LIFE...
He is a very nice person. As a teacher..hhhmm. Just check out ALL the notes on the internet and you should be fine. He will just read off the ppt, so i really recommend you print of the slides before hand so you don't have to write down everything and just be able to make side notes about what he says.
Mr. Huddleston was one of my favorite professors. He is extremely clear in his lectures and if you pay attention to him, you'll get your A
I think he is an alright teacher, his test are multi choice but they are hard. But his lab teacher who call himself Joe SUCKS! If you get him as your lab teacher get the hell out of there! Oh and one day I showed up and his eye was all busted up, some people asked him what happened, he said he got into a fight at a bar, he is a real professional.
All of his notes are online. Lots of material is covered but if you study ahead of time. Your grade should be an A/B easy.
No No No!!! His teaching style sucks. Notes are online but don't use them to study, purchase and read the book. He doesn't answer questions and he is constantly complaining about attendance. He was the only PROF teaching BIO 1407 this sememster.
this professor was really difficult.if you can understand science easily, then perhaps you should take him,but if science is really hard for you to understand, do not take his course. his lab assistant, Jo, shows no interest at all in helping you understand until the semesters almost over. i worked hard and went to tutoring and still got a D.
I took 1406 and 1407 with him. Great teacher. Tests are multiple choice, straight from the lecture notes, and have 3+ bonus questions each. If you take good notes you'll be fine. The power points are online as well but he makes changes sometimes. Attendance isn't mandatory but he likes it, and he'll sometimes give attendance bonus =)
Took the Field Studies, and it turned out better once we got out of the class. The classroom & labs were harder than hell, but he is passionate about botany. Be ready for a lot of new terms and words that just don't make sense unless this is your field of study. In the field, he is fun and lively.
This class is challenging.Mr. Huddleston is a good teacher, but the tests are too hard for me;and I really study.I think it's a good opportunity though, for those who want to get into challenging careers like medicine. It helps you to decide if you're good for that. What I really don't like about this class is its time.Seriously,8am?!Overall,it's ok.
He is just an awesome teacher. He is enthusiastic and dedicated and teaches well in class. All is you can depend on the exam notes and you willl easily get through. I would recommend him.
Wouldve been a easy class if I actually attended class and read the text book.
Don't take this class useless u r perpared to study alot. It'll take alot of ur time if u want an "A"& u still might not.He is disorganized & what u make is what u get @ the end of the semester, don't feed in2 the,"I will help u with curves stuff"..He's 2 worried bout Hawaii to care bout ur grade. & his lab instuctor, may there b mercy on ur soul...
This class has a lot of info to learn. It's not necessarily hard though. My only beef is that he doesnt update the notes as science progresses. The notes we have are 8 years old. They dont match the book. He is a nice teacher though. It helps if you had him for 1406.
def a ton of info. it takes time make it your priority, dont get behind and you'll be fine.masteringbio.com is amazing for hands on learning and it has the book online too so if your tight on money just buy it instead. tests questions can be confusing so go slow! he's awesome if you need help or have questions. print the notes out before class!
I didnt care for him. I took Wheeler for 1406 and was used to the way he taught so i had a hard time getting used to him. I would say take Wheeler if you can but i think Huddleston is the only teacher that teaches 1407 during the day!
he is very helpful if you have questions. lots of info but if you print the ppt and the reviews for the test, you should do fine. prepare with time for the test otherwise it could be overwhelming.
I think Mr Huddleston is more geard towards teaching like Grad students or students seeking a PHD. He is not undergrad material. My first day of class I thought he was the Janitor... he does not dress very professional.
really knows his stuff!
mike is amazing teacher , he knows what hes teaching and knows it well.
He knows his material, and expects you to learn it. Very helpful and eager to help students. The material isn't exactly easy, but if you read the book, listen to lecture, and pay attention, you'll do fine.
He might be helpful but you wouldn't even utter a word in class full of 90 students. his powerpoints are helpful and that's what his exams are based on. gotta read the book too and rationalize with his ppt notes. had to work hard but paid with an A. overall an interesting person and a good teacher.
i made an A but trust me it was real hard!!!!! If you ever take him..STUDY STUDY STUDY!!! Key to doing well? Read the textbook regardless of what people may say.. w/o the text u'll make a C or even fail. 5 exams.. he drops the lowest grade. Loads of studyin.. overall he is helpful and a decent prefessor. I liked him.
Great teacher, very helpful and wants to see his students succeed. Really have to put in effort if you want to make an A. Text book wasn't for me- but the vids on masteringbio.com and in the science center- EXTREMELY HELPFUL
hes great. the lab teacher Ms.drennan needs some more schooling.
Good professor
He is one of those profs that tells you what to study for the test and helps you out before or after class, but best of all he makes everything crystal clear by translating everything into English
he is extremely good teacher, and its easy A. i recommend this teacher any day. if you are not comfortable with biology, but have to take, then take it with him.
wonderful prof. got an A.
excellent lecture.Very glad to have him. He clearly states what will be listed on test..HINT HINT really wants you to understand
He's very knowledgeable, entertaining, and good at teaching, nice, willing to help. Downfalls are that student resources provided by him are unclear, do not match up to his lectures, the text, or the exams. His tests contain too many errors, and are full of unnecessary trick questions. He doesn't properly clarify what is going to be on the exams.
PROFESSOR HUDDLESTON'S TESTS ARE EASY IF YOU STUDY WELL.. HE IS VERY WILLING TO HELP STUDENTS. HIS CLASS DISCUSSION IS VERY INTERESTING...
Take this class! The lecture grade will consist of 6 tests. He will drop one. He posts an overview of exactly what's on the test. Read that & the chapters. Don't bother with his powerpoints. I stopped going halfway through & still got high A's. Lab requires attendance, but if you fill out the lab manual fully & learn the online links, you're fine.
Take this class! I stopped going & still got an A. There are 6 tests, he drops 1. He posts an extensive review of what's on the test. Read it. Read the chapters. His powerpoints are too vague for the test. Lab is harder, mostly bc they're disorganized. You have to attend. Go over ALL the online lab links/wkst, do the labs FULLY & you'll be fine.
I could never find him for help. Told me not to worry about failing but failed me anyway. I am not a great student but he was no help. I retook it with Wheeler and got a B.
Awesome teacher!! He teaches very well. Attend every class, you will get an A. He explains in class very well. I have never understood Biology better than this!!! Highly recommend.
I took him for BIOL 1406 1407 and loved his class. Just take good notes, review notes once or twice before test, do your work, ask interesting questions...and you'll make an A or very high B. Funny laid back botanist. I'd definitely recommend him. Loved his class!!!
he's okay. has a sense of humor and will answer all of your questions. very helpful
I loved prof. Huddleston...he can be humerous and helpful and tries to tell you what will be on the test...I would recommend him.
excellent teacher--teaches the good old-fashioned way, i.e., Personal accountability, no easy A's, and he really loves Biology. You actually learn stuff in his class
I'm attending his class and he is also my lab instructor. His tests and quizzes are not hard but it require you study a lot. He tries to give you hints for the exams if you notice. I'm making an A.
Took this class Spring '11. For me, the lecture part was pretty easy. I HAD to reread the book to thoroughly understand things though. Honestly, I was bored in class at times, but he's a an okay prof. He will drop one test and you can join green club to get extra credit. It's not the lecture you have to worry about, it's lab!
Professor Huddleston is a GREAT teacher! :) He drops one test for the semester. Also, he gives you reviews before the exams! Very helpful. I would recommend this teacher. He makes the class fun and interesting!!
HE IS A GREAT TEACHER! He loves to teach and it shows. You have to attend both lecture and lab if you really want to pass. Reading the book is a MUST! His quizzes are easy and if you take good notes and pay attention so will the tests. He is really nice and funny, I enjoyed his class. I took him for 1406 and 1407 and I passed.
hes easy going and nice enough. he'll pass you if you just show up to class. sounds great but hes also lazy about grades and rund through the material quickly. as a person, hes great. as a teacher? meh, I'll pass
He is a really nice person, and has a pretty interesting summer class "trip" that I would love to go on. HOwever, He focuses alot of plants, and I have no interest in them. so This class was very very very boring, and I did not understand anything. So I had to drop it. My lab instructor was also terrible.
People attending this class plan on being a science major. So shut up, this is the easiest science course you'll ever find. No one holds your hand like community college does.
Such a great professor and a great class. As long as you listen, ask good questions, and show up to class you will do fine. You cannot pass if you do not show up. He is super easy to talk to and loves what he does. He still practices his profession. Very knowledgeable. BEST TEACHER FOR BIO!
MR. HUDDLESTON IS VERY KNOWLEGABLE ABOUT BIOLOGY AND SCIENCE IN GENERAL. HE IS VERY INTRESTING AND LOVES WHAT HE TEACHES, WHICH MAKES HIS CLASS A GREAT CLASS TO GO TO.
awesome person that really loves education. if you are going into life sciences, take mike for the basics, especially if you are even mildly interested in plants, (he knows his animals too). very honest individual. go on his field studies program as well, it's an awesome experience that can only be given by seasoned biologists like mike.
He's good. the only problem is he takes a long time to grade exams.
Wonderful professor - would recommend him to anyone. Very passionate about biology, especially botany. If you do the work, you'll pass. He teaches from Power Points, so it is very possible to pass this class without the book. There is usually a book in the library to reference if needed. There are usually test reviews online and sessions at 7 AM.
Not helpful
He is a Great professor that really loves the subject he teaches. He is also very helpful, and will explain things for you very well, he also has some fascinating stories
I was lost in the lectures (my issue), but I recorded them and when I was studying for a test I listened to him and he helped. I would focus more on memorizing the power points if you don't have time to read. I love his passion for biology and to help students. He was funny and I liked the stories he told. AWESOME PROFESSOR! I got an A.
BEST BIOLOGY TEACHER EVER, REVIEWS WITH THE STUDENT AND ALWAYS READY TO HELP. 1406 IS PRETTY EASY, Attend lecture and get your easy A
I began this class and immediately started struggling since I did find Biology to be rather difficult for me. However, he really helps you out in Lab and Lecture and if you have a question he answers it with the utmost clarity. I failed the first exams but once I got the hang of it, I did really well and ended up passing with a B. Awesome teacher.
He is a great teacher and if i don't make it passed the first go around, I would like to have him again
Biology in general is not easy, so when taking biology you should be prepare to do a LOT of WORK! He is a great professor, he honestly cares about students passing and will go out of his way to help. Pass with a B but if you go to class, pay attention, take notes, and read the book. You will get an A! Lab was difficult, thats how I received a B.
Mr. Huddleston was one of the best professors I have ever had. He loves what he teaches, and finds many way to make it interesting. The book was helpful but he mostly teaches from the power points. He loves having student involvement! He is so sweet and very helpful. TAKE HIS CLASS. You won't regret it.!!
Professor Huddleston is a great professor and an even better person. He is genuinely interested in the success of his students and this can be seen the first day of class. If you have any interest in biology, or plan on transferring to another institution, there isn't a better, more experienced professor around.
one of the few professors who truly cares about his students. he is clear and easy to understand.
Professor Huddleston is awesome! I earned an A for this class. It requires a lot of time and studying. Exams are easy IF you study for them. He does give reviews and tells you what to study for. He also is very friendly and helpful! Do not need to purchase a book, he uses an online free download textbook. I am going to be having this professor for 1407 next semester.
Never met a professor so passionate about his work. It is obvious he loves teaching and is willing to help you succeed. His tests are easy if you come to lecture and pay attention. Never bought the book. Loved his random "pep talks" as well. You're missing out if you don't take him!!
HES A GREAT TEACHER OVERALL. HE WILL HELP IF YOU ASK FOR IT. HE SAVED ME FROM DROPPING THE CLASS.
I was initially worried about how hard this class would be, but Professor Huddleston helped out so much! Show up to his class because the lectures are important & he explains what you need to know for the exam. If you're willing to put in the work & actually pay attention, this class will be an easy A! I recommend this class to anyone!
If you are used to getting A's this class is easy. He is perfect. Tests are exactly from lectures and power points. He even uploads video lectures in case you missed them. He curves the grades up. Funny lectures. Got a 99.
He's very passionate, obviously loves what he does, & he does everything in his power to help you learn and understand the material. He relates every lecture to a story about his research in Hawaii & makes it interesting. It's bio, of course it's a bit tough.
Professor Huddleston is a great instructor all of his material is clear. If you attend class every meeting, ask questions, and read all the powerpoints you will do just fine in his class. His test are not hard, but you do have to read the material in order to pass. Would defiantly take again.
Mr. Huddleston is a great teacher. He cares about his students and he makes a difficult class fun to learn. I aced almost every test he had because his tests are directly from his power points. He's a very nice man and I hope that I can take another class with him sometime.
Mr. Huddleston is awesome. His really outgoing and caring. The only think is that the review are about 4 pages long. No all of it is in the test.
Great professor. lecture is sometimes boring but very informative. studying is a must for exams. study power points and make flash cards to memorize terms and you will be fine
He is a great lecture teacher.. tells you exactly what you need to know
We need more professors like Mr. Huddleston. I participated in his Hawaii field study. His lectures were super clear, he's flexible, provides extra credit, curves heavily for fast track courses, and his tests cover only information from the lecture. Why can't more teachers be like Mr. Huddleston?
This is the best Biology professor at Northlake hands down!!! He keeps the class interesting and helps you in every way he can. But, it's up to you to take the time to study the work because it's not easy. I definitely recommend Professor Huddleston!!!
Mike Huddleston is a wonderful teacher. He is hilarious and he cares that you pass his class. He tells you basically what will be on the test, you just need to put forth an effort and STUDY! Make sure you study what he tells you, no he will NOT put on the test word for word, but you will get the gist if you STUDY!
Professor Huddleston is an amazing, fair teacher. He tells you exactly what to do to make a passing grade in Biology. Some tests are tough, but if you study his notes and understand what he teaches, then you should pass the exams. He drops the lowest exam. Biology is not an easy subject, but if you study, you can pass. He's a great teacher!
Expect to be taking 6 exams for this class. He does not give homework but you HAVE TO study the notes and everything he gives you to pass the exam. The majority of your assignments will come from lab.
Professor Huddleston is a very great professor. He's very passionate about biology and his lectures are very interesting. I advised you don't miss class because he breaks down the whole concept of what you're studying. I would definitely recommend taking professor Huddleston for biology 1406.
Me. Huddleston is an amazing professor. He explains almost everything he puts on the test and really wants you to pass. He is passionate about what he teaches and willing to help you outside class hours if you need any help. Definitely recommend and would take this class again. :)
This professor expects you to know everything and learn everything before you come to his class. He is a nice man, but his test are so hard more then 70 percent of my class failed most of the test.
This professor is funny, but if you really looking for A then this call might not be helpful for you. his exam is hard as rock and more then 80% student of my class failed his test.
Hes a BOTANIST! I have to emphasize that, he is a great teacher but as a BIOLOGY teacher he is just not my cup of tea. He is very straight forward and understanding when something comes up and you have to miss class. BUT if you have been out of school for awhile DON'T take him. Just study the review, and you will be golden. Lecture is ZZzzzz
He is amazing. I am a nontraditional student and kept up with him. He will tell you what you need to know for the test so just show up. There are 6 test and no final. The lowest score from the first 5 test will be dropped. I barely showed up and made an A because he is just that thorough. Also the book is free for this course.
Dr. Huddleston is an amazing professor. The tests are difficult if you don't study his PowerPoint. Study his PowerPoints and lecture exam reviews and you will be fine. There are 6 exams and he drop the lowest grade. He also uploads his lecture videos and they are helpful as well.
It's not an easy class ,but if you put the effort and time you will pass. He provides power points and videos of the lectures to some of the chapters which are really helpful when preparing for the exams. I believe a professor who makes you work hard to earn a good grade is a great professor. I really enjoyed his class, I highly recommend him.
He is a great professor!!! Highly recommend him. If you don't take good notes, no problem he'll put up a powerpoint and his own notes. On top of that, he'll let you know what is going to be on the test. just like any other science class, study and you will do well.
Huddleston is a really good teacher. His lectures are great. He is great at explaining concepts unlike other teacher that read of the power points. Highly recommend him.
He's a great lecture. His class consist of 6 test and he drops the lowest one. He offer extra credit towards the end of the semester. If you study the powerpoints and watch the lecture video you'll be fine. He's also get really happy if you ask him question so feel free to ask him question during or after class. Also use the review guide to study.
I didn't like how he teached the class
Professor Huddleston is a really good teacher, he cares about his students, he knows what he is talking about, and makes you want to learn. He loves his subject and if you show up to class and pay attention you will do good. you do have to study but he will let you know what is on the test. if you get stuck just talk to him and he will help.
I took an 8 week class with him, and it was expectedly fast paced. But he was pretty thorough when preparing us for the tests, and he tried hard to make the lectures interesting and peppy. You can tell he knows his stuff.
His lectures are really heavy. He covers all the necessary things from powerpoints. He gives a good review of the exam. I recommend him.
I took his class in Spring 2016. There was a lot of material, but I genuinely love biology, so it was a cakewalk for me. Literally, I may have studied a couple of hours the day before and made 98, 99, 100, 100. If you are not that good at biology, then just study to make up for that. He is a great guy and a great lecturer. Take him if possible.
He was okay just. Don't over stress you'll be fine. I got a C because i was trying to learn everything. Memorization is the key for this course.
Notes are not necessary just study the PowerPoint and listen the lecture. He will tell you some and most of the questions that will come in the test. He gives extra credit for greenc club. He replies fast to emails.
Best biology instructor you could take. Study guide will tell you exactly what you need to know for the exams. Don't miss lecture and attend the exam review days. If you can, take his hawaiian study fields courses. Best trip ever and such an inspiring time with this teacher.
Mike is an amazing professor. He is a very down to earth person and would cooperate and help you if you simply communicate. His exams only contain 55questions max, mostly 54 questions. I would definitely recommend that you take his class. Not forgetting, ask as many questions as you want and he will do his best to answer them for you.
Uses long drawn out scientific explanations, but will always explain if you ask questions. Reading the chapters is not required, but does help. Wants you to ask questions if you don't understand and will work with you as long as you are trying hard. Better chance of passing if taking notes while in class, because he tells you what is on the test.
You cannot pass if you do not study. Always pay attention to his lectures, he likes helping people and answering questions but this class requires so much memorization ONLY focus on what he tells you will be on the test dont overstudy on less important subjects.
I took him in spring 2020, and unfortunately, CO-VID 19 happened, we studied online. and he got strict from it, i got 89 at the end and normally teacher will curve it but he not. He nice and response the email, text kind of fast and in class too. But I hope he can be easier to curve the grade on so some ppl like me need A to pass
Biology is INTIMIDATING and a LOT of information. Mike Huddleston is an AMAZING professor. You have to put in the work!!! But his lectures are interesting and he is clearly PASSIONATE about biology. He is SO knowledgeable and literally tells you what is on the test. So do the work, you'll see the results!! Awesome experience!!
Prof. Huddleston was amazing! The lecture side is based off 6 tests containing 40-50 questions. You will not pass if you dont read your book or at least listen to his lectures! With study guides & lectures, prof. H is great about telling you what will be on the exam. If you study, youll pass. I truly enjoyed his class and hope he teaches Bio II.
There are no hw assig. to help boost your grade or ec. Its 8 exams- 5 lecture and 3 lab exams. The lab exams are free response and multiple choice and each exam is 40+ questions. Each exam had more questions than the time provided so for the first one I had 9 secs per question. The labs do not require a kit however they are lengthy and difficult.
don't know why his rating is so high. I took him online (covid) and he makes his class unnecessarily difficult to pass. He has narrated powerpoints and provides notes however they're not very helpful unless you dissect it and he didn't provide notes for one unit and when we asked why he didn't really give us an answer he just didn't want to.
If you study the lecture video, take notes, and study hard, you can get good score! There are 5 exams in this course and that's all the grade work will concern, so study hard and review the lecture! As for the lab, all you need to do is to study the materials provided by the lab instructor, and you get great scores. Prof. H. is the BEST!! Take him!
great professor. for everything being online he was very straightforward on what he needed from you and what you needed to study to pass. if i had the chance to take him again, i would. i am an average student and suck at studying but if you do the work he gives you, you will do well. no suprises.
Mr. Huddleston worked with me when I had technical difficulties, which happened often. He was very understanding and nice! His tests get hard over the course. Please study! I loved that the labs were self-paced and all online! Made it easy to do with a busy life/work. Valerie Miller is an awesome lab instructor! Overall a good class! Put in work!
Prof. Huddleston's class was amazing. Provides you with a recorded power point lecture and hints at things you really need to study for exam. Exam is online, not proctored but you get 1 min per question so study before hand. I would definitely take him again. Lab taught by another professor but self paced and easy to do if you don't fall behind.
His grading is straight forward. There are 6 major exams are and get to drop one. Gives good lectures and lots of info like reviews and notes. You have to read and use the lectures. If you don't study for this class you will not pass. You can use an online book, and Prof. Huddleston is available by email or phone. Over all I would take him again.
He gives accurate and straight forward lectures. No need to stress so much on reading the book, listen to the lectures and slides that he provides, take notes , study and you are good to go. Be sure to understand the material because his exams can't be googled. He gives less time and more questions during the exams. be aware of that and focus.
The worst professor ever. The narrated chapter presentation nor the unarrated presentation are helpful. Doesnt explain anything in the vidoes. HE IS JUST READING
This class is hard but straight forward. 6 lecture exams, 3 lab exams, 12 lab quizzes, 3 lab reports. Only have to prove you did 3 labs. lecture portion can be looked up but lab is difficult to find. Lecture is 70% lab is 30%. Test do not become available until 7 A.M. day it is due and expire at the end of the day.
I am so happy that I chose this professor and will be taking him for my next bio class. He is very reasonable and kind. He extended 2 exams for me and would take late work. Biology is not easy but I really enjoy the way he teaches the class, not to much excessive information but just enough to get thru the tests. He also drops the lowest exam.
The best professor ive ever seen. As first time college student here in the US, he was simply perfect. Im taking BIOL 1407 next sem of his class. Just pay attention in class and go through the materials, then its one of the easiest course!
I enjoyed this class but grades are based off of 7 exams and a few labs. You have to listen to the lectures or read the power points or you wont pass. Overall good teacher.
This professor makes i hard to pass his class. We started with 22 students and ended up with 6. His exams have very tricky questions. There is nothing you can do for extra credit. If you really want to maintain your GPA, run from this man. No one got an A in my class.
Prof Huddleston is a fair/tough grader. He wants you to learn the material, and not memorize it. Be aware of his exams, all of them have a timer of less minutes and more questions (ex: 50 questions in 30-40 min.), so make sure you take plenty of notes, research and learn. He gives lots of Quizzes and 6 Exams total. He will drop your lower grade.
Took this class during Winter term and it was very difficult. Tests were hard, there was less time than questions and they were worded differently/indirectly which makes you second guess your answer. You really have to study hard to pass, however, the professor is caring.
The Lab Exams are 50 questions and you only get about 30 minutes to complete them. There are five proctored exams and they are a significant portion of your grade.
The tests are fall too difficult to study for. There is very little help and no assistance by the teacher to care enough if people are struggling with the class. Made me double think my major because of how unfair the material felt we had to memorize more than learn. He also mandates for cameras to be on during exams.
I recently took this class for summer 1. The exams and quizzes are timed you have one opportunity to take them. The lecture exams have 40 questions you only get 35 minutes. The lab exams have 50 questions you only get 45 minutes. You can always email him if you have any questions.
I took his class in summer. According to ratings, I felt so happy to start this class but ended up with D even after a lot of effort. This is the worst class I have ever taken. He barely reply to emails, didn't give any extra credits, and very limited time for every quizzes and exams. HARD TO PASS.
8 Week Class- 5 Exams, NO HW - But that being said, there was soo much to cover that could be on exams, I do not recommend this online, at least in person he was able to let us know this will be on the test, I still studied 3-5 hr outside of class a week and got a C. He is very nice, I would recom his class, just know its a lot of memorization
Overall sweet guy but "old fashioned". Lectures and tests are all written by him (answers not online). No HW, Just 5 tests all with 40 questions. Lockdown browser with camera for all tests. If you study the material in his videos, read the notes, and actually study, the tests aren't bad. Good communication and responds fast to emails and texts.
Changed dates multiple times without any notice, test heavy with that being your only grades for the class. Test are hard and not easy to study for even when you put in the work.
This class is ridiculous. The tests seem damn near impossible to pass no matter how much work you put in. Please RUN.
Took his 8 week course after reading good reviews and let me say this class is insane. Exams are basically impossible to pass and the labs are extremely time consuming and extra asl. Professor is nice guy though even though he basically never answers emails
I took an 8 week course with Mike Huddleston. Honestly, I did pretty good, even when I was under pressure with studying. Still passed every exam with all A's. One advice from me, is to do practice questions over the pdf he provides and read the exam study guide. Use any online source. Read the book if you can. It helps. BUT PRACTICE QUESTIONS
Professor Huddleston's class is challenging but manageable with consistent effort. The exams are tough, but his lectures and study materials are very helpful. Using Unstuck AI alongside the textbook really boosted my understanding of the material.
Biology 1408 as a wintermester and I am doing OK, but I am studying every single day over 5+ hours. Class is ridiculous, the labs are absurdly long and do not help in learning the material whatsoever, test are hard, camera on, few time. 5 exams 3 lecture practicals, 6 lab quizzes. Only take if this if it you will dedicate 100% time on it.
Halfway through the Wintermester. Tests are not nearly as hard as the recent RMP reviews say, people are just lazy. Just be sure to watch the lectures and read the notes he uploads! That's what the tests will be over! Only half of the lab assignments are turned in with low-point quizzes, and the lab exams have been easy so far.
NGL class is hard! test are more questions than time, camera on lockdown, labs are long. do practice questions and read the book. labs are so long for no reason, but i found you didnt have to do all of them (read which one u will act turn in). all of this class is memorization. professor is kind.
I have taken so many classes over my college life and never have I failed so badly. I even have two masters degrees. I would run far away from this course
As a biology major, this was hands down the worst class I've ever taken! All he did for lecture was read off slides from a slideshow that typically contained over 80+ slides, and constantly made snide remarks whenever us students had no prior knowledge about what he was going on about. His exams (especially the lab exams) were poorly designed. RUN!
Funny, easy Grading. I did not study but still ended up with A. He talks a lot about his personal life like he got bitten by mosquitoes and his travel to california, Hawaiin. Chill guys if you dont like to study, this class is solely made for you. perfection exist.....
Do not take this professor online. Everything was disorganized from the online format to the exam. Very difficult to navigate in comparison to other classes I have taken online. Coursework was not difficult, just one of those classes that just sets you up to read and take exams. Exam had misspelled words and phases that made it difficult.
Beware of unclear answer choices, often select all that apply paired with short amount of test time, example: 45 questions in 33 minutes.
I dropped it. Because the class content and order were so complicated and the amount was so large, I was pressed for time to study.
