His class is a lot of work....A LOT!!! If you do the work the class is easy. Landin is a funny guy, however he does pick favorites and if you aren't one then he sometimes makes you feel like a retard. Other than that the class is great.

Ah landin...He will make sure you know what you're talking about, so be prepared! Do your work, study your codes and geography, and pay attention! He's a bundle of fun, very helpful, and loves weather!. :-D It is a lot of work, so keep up with it!!!

Great class and great guy. You leave these classes with a lot of knowledge concerning weather. Though a lot of hard work, the result is rewarding. Know your codes, know your METAR, and never say contours on pressure level maps are isobars--he goes nuts

Awesome guy! one of my all time favorites! He is a great advisor as well as professor! Made my transition to Albany very easy. Love this guy!

Ahhhh...its all over. Mike is a wonderful teacher and a great guy to talk to between classes (he tends to kidnap students who wander too close to his third floor office). I can't begin to appreciate what I have learned in his class. Bottom line: forecasting is a....you know, and if you don't, you may find out soon enough. Damn you ASOS!!! ;-)

Amazing professor. Very passionate about what he does and is always willing to help. He's one of the only professors I've ever had that actually seems to put the student's learning first rather than just getting through the material and sending you on your way. If you get to take him, consider yourself lucky

he is a great teacher. the class is very interesting, the best class i've ever had. you will learn more and want to learn more in this class than any other class you've taken before. there is a lot of work but it's well worth it in the end.

If you take this class, get ready for cramped hands, and two notebooks. All I know is that he's a good teacher, but the material is killer.

I thought he was a very straightforward professor, but there's so much material. There's a lot of writing, but he has a very direct study guide. Definitely take this class as a gen. ed. fulifillment.

Lots and lots of material to get through and cramping hands from all the notes he give you but he sure knows his subjectmatter.

Landin is the man. You really don't need to textbook for this class. He gives out a lot of free test questions if you go to class and stay the wholeee time. He's really fun and cares.

This is a really cool class. The curve is really big. An 86 is an A and if you just looking to pass a D is like 36. Be prepared to take A LOT of notes. You are gonna have to go to class a lot to get an A. He gives a nice review sheet of study that will actually be on the test that helps a lot. Study, go through the review sheet.

this is my favorite teacher. he always has a good attitude and it very happy. he plays upbeat cool music every day that always gets me in a great mood. the material is hard and there is alot of things he covers but he makes everything seem easy. shows a video every class. gives alot of notes but i never took them just study staceys guide.

this guy is great! very friendly and helpful. gives test questions out if you stay till the end of class and shows videos every class. go to class and study from 'stacys guide' online and youll get an A

Landin is awesome. Very helpful. His review classes and Stacy's guide are awesome. Class is interesting and he shows a video to break up the notes. Take this class.

Best professor here hands down. I suck at science but he really made everything easy to learn. I love this class and wish i could take it again.

Really nice guy! I would recommend not taking notes during class it isn't necessary because they're posted online on stacy's guide and everything on it is on the test verbatum. You also don't have to buy the book that is for this class i never opened it after the first chapter and got an A in the class. lectures are really good!

He's one of the best Professor in SUNY Albany. Very friendly and really nice person! It is not hard to get A in his class and his tests are not tricky and very fair. Do yourself favor, take his class!

This is an extremely easy Gen ed. Curve is so that an 86 is an A. Never used the textbook once. All you need is Stacy's Guide and go to class (questions from in-class videos are on the tests) and you'll get an A. A little boring, but the easiness made it worth while. Definitely take this for natural science gen ed. He's an okay guy too.

Firstly, Do not buy the textbook. I always buy the book for every class but I never opened the book once. All sci classes at UA are kind of hard. You should take this one. If you do the min. amount of work...you will get a "B".... with a substantial amount of effort you will have an A

He's a great guy and his class is really interesting (Oceans). He gives you straight forward notes and tells you what will be on the test. Don't get wrapped up in not going to class though! He WILL give out questions! I'd advise taking Oceans as a freshman, definitely. DO NOT BUY THE TEXT BOOK!

Easiest class ever. Definitely take this as a fall semester freshman so that you can also take his Natural Disasters class the next fall. Huge class but easy to fallow the notes. Just study for an easy A.

one of the easiest classes you will ever take. he gives you the notes that hes gonna be talking about in class. dont buy the textbook. just answer the study guide questions and read over the notes he gives you and you defintely get an A in the class. the curve in this class is amazing too ! he also drops your lowest test grade!

Ridiculously easy class (oceans)! This is perfect for people like me who suck @ science! Definitely take this class, but do NOT buy the textbook. It's a waste of $100! Even if you skip some classes you won't need it.

This class is very easy. Class isn't mandatory and i can honestly say i skipped about 15-20 lectures and still got an A. No homework given and there is no need to buy a textbook. I only put about 2 hours of work a month into this class and it was for studying for his exams which are easy. If you like an easy A take this course

Landin is the man! He's very knowledgeable and interested in what he teaches, and it carries over to students. I would take him again and again. And yea, don't buy the book. Take notes in lecture and you'll be good.

The guy is boring. wow talk about passing out. Got an A in his class but i am not sure why you people love him soo much. I had many more better teachers. His class is cake but i saw he only has a masters degree. I want a prof with a PhD. Not impressed but easy class.

Absolutely love his classes. Easy but challenging in some cases. Natural Disasters is on a completely different grading scale than Oceans, but if you pay attention in class and follow the notes templates you'll be fine. Awesome professor and truly passionate about what the subjects he teaches. Definitely recommend him if you need gen-eds/electives

This man has so much passion about what he teaches! It's incredible. There is a lot to memorize, so start studying a little by little a week ahead. I RECOMMEND GOING TO REVIEW your exam after your done taking it! Hes explains it so well during office hours. TAKE THIS CLASS IF your not good at the sciences!!

Good professor! He really enjoys what he is teaching and explains things very well. He always put on music before class as well, which I enjoyed. The only thing I would say is DO NOT BUY THE BOOK! we never used it once!

Great Professor who clearly loves what he is teaching. Don't expect this class to be just the basics about the oceans because it gets pretty in depth but there are a lot of videos and you never use the textbook, don't even buy it. If your looking for a science Gen Ed then definitely take this class.

Landin is very thorough, brilliant, and always has chill music playing prior to class. I'm not science savvy at all and managed an A in his class. Book is useless - don't buy it. Go to class, fill in the notes, and you'll be fine. Study though.

All I can say is: MIKE LANDIN IS THE MAN! Everyone at SUNY Albany needs to take a class with this legendary professor. He's so funny and interested in what he teaches. Literally in love with this man. TAKE A CLASS WITH MIKE. You will not regret it. I promise :)

don't buy the book he never uses it, references it or bases questions on it. this class is just like high school earth science aka an easy a. all the tests are based on the notes so make sure you print them in advance and fill in the blanks in class.

Before taking this class I expected it to be really easy like everyone said but it wasn't.Like earth science class you took in high school ,you HAVE to memorize his powerpoints and REALLY have to study if you want to get A.He doesn't let you drop one test this year,and most did bad on second exam because his materials were simply ALOT to memorize..

Oceans is an easy class but it is super easy to bad. A 35 is failing but this is the first year he doesn't drop the lowest test grade. The notes are fill in the blanks and the tests are 40 multiple choice and he always has a review session before the test. Pretty solid teacher. DO NOT BUY THE TEXTBOOK.

Only reason I didn`t get an A in this class was because science is just not my thing, but Landin is one of the best professors I`ve had. Practically does this class for you and always keeps ur attention by balancing note slides with daily video clips, visual diagrams and news articles. Probably easiest science u can find too, will not regret it.

tests are very easy if you study. he gives you from 5-10 questions that WILL be on the test. all questions are mult choice and if you study it wll be very easy. theres 2 homeworks are they were actually fun to do. 4 extra points are attainable which help out tremendously

He even posts test guide questions to help you study for the only grades of 4 simple Exams. The final is definitely the most difficult and counts the most so be careful. easy gen ed. Again DONT buy the textbook

Class is super easy! Didn't even open the textbook once, so don't buy it, not worth it. He is a great professor, and really lays out the information in front of you and tells you just what you need to know for exams. Very nice guy, funny, and he keeps the class interesting. Work and you will succeed. Would recommend him as a professor any time!

Professor Landin is clearly a favorite at UAlbany. Being someone who is not very interested in science, I was only in Oceans for the gen ed credit. That said, it was probably the easiest you can find but certainly not an easy A either. Notes are fill in the blank which is nice, but there is a lot of material to memorize for only four tests. Easy A Class if you study the material. Funny, friendly guy, lectures are pretty interesting, not boring much. Come to class, fill out note template blanks, study a couple days for exam - PASS.

Landin was a very good professor. He showed great interest in the material that he taught that class and genuinely showed that he cared about students success. He gives note templates to make it easy to take notes and makes test questions directly word for word from those templates. As long as you take the class seriously it is not difficult.

Great professor and such a fun and interesting class!! As long as you go to every class, fill out the note templates, and reserve 1 or 2 days to study for each test, this class should be an easy A! Landin really makes it almost impossible to get below an B-

This was the last semester he was teaching on campus but this class will still be taught online. Four exams but can be exempt from final if you have a 90 going into it. Some homework that is really simple if you just try to do it. Cool guy who knows what he is teaching. Material can be hit or miss but a lot of it is quite interesting. Book useless

All of the test questions are right from the notes, if you follow the guided notes in class and review you'll do fine.

The class is pretty simple, the notes are fill in the blank which makes class so much easier. He is very straight forward with whats on the test. There are 3 tests and a final. The only complaint I can make is there was a good amount of material to know for each test but there is a huge curve in the class so its real easy to get at least a B.

Landin will spell out for you exactly how to get an A in his course from day 1. If you complete the HWs, put SOME extra thought into class discussions, follow instructions, and NOT wait until the minute to take exams or complete assignments, you will do very well.. grade A range.

I had two online classes with this professor, and honestly I found them both amazing, thats why I ended up taking him second time. Obviously you are going to have to do all the work on your own cause it is online, so you have to make sure you read the instructions very well. I would take his classes for everything if I could.
