AMAZING!!! He only subbed in for our prof for a few lectures and I think he's an amazing lecturer. He went through all the subject matter in half an hour and spent the second half of the class answering questions. This was great! There was not a single thing I didn't understand about the lesson at the end of the hour.

One of the favourite professors. Even though attendance isn't mandatory the class was always filled. Awesome humor. Simply amazing.

A fantastic professor. He is funny and helps his students out a lot. His lectures are informative. Before his class I hated physics, but after i feel good about the course.

Hilarious, makes learning not only easy but incredibly enjoyable. He knows how to teach extremely well and with perfectly clarity. He also understands who his audience is, which is very important when teaching a first year class. I wish I was a physics major so I could take more courses taught by him. And he's not too bad on the eyes, either.

Good professor sometimes gets carried away with the jokes and therefore masks the content but definetly makes the content interesting. Overall he is definetly out to help you succeed and thats what counts.

One of the best profs I've had. Very funny and witty without being rude *cough* orbax. Makes things very clear. Very willing to help. I once saw him helping a group of engineers who had gone to him for help in a physics class another prof was teaching (that prof was useless). Can't say enough good things about him.

He's basically the ideal prof. He keeps the class focused and is totally helpful if you go to him for help. His classes are fun and you actually learn things too!

He filled in for the not so Great Orbax one class and it was one of the best classes, he is super funny and interesting. Greatest man on the face of the planet! Probably the best prof that you will ever have at Guelph. He really knows what he is talking about and he makes you feel the same way too. You come out of class feeling like you actually learned something unlike Orbax's class. Super funny and not too hard on the eyes either. Absolutely love this guy!

By far the best prof I have ever had. He makes the material easy, clear, and very enjoyable to understand. I looked forward to going to this class, I laughed almost as much as I learned. I highly reccomend Massa as a prof. And he's good looking.

Absolutely amazing prof! I am not good at physics, and as most biology students, find it a particularly frustrating course. Massa tries very hard to make the material engaging, exciting, and applicable. He has great, clear notes, an awesome sense of humor, and is extremely approachable.

Pretty clear during lecture, sometimes he gets distracted by dirty jokes and little stories but overall a pretty good professor. Very helpful during his office hours. Quizzes were a challenge but the exam was incredibly easy!

He taught physics for science during the summer at Mcmaster, GREAT PROF! Takes time explaining concepts and lets us leave class early haha

Taught the second half of my astronomy class online and was pretty good. He knew everyone was taking it as a mandatory science credit for BA and was really accommodating looking at the difficulty of the course. His exam was MUCH easier then the course material. Funny and great guy.

He has a huge imagination that he uses to give the hardest assignments and tests as if all the students are either geniuses or already have physics degrees. Interesting lectures, clear but don't quite prepare you to the assignments and tests. Teach yourself by practicing questions other than the assigned by him.

Had Massa for physics and taking this astronomy course online was just as awesome as it was having him in class! He answered everything so quickly and always had a joke along with his posts. He gave a second chance on the midterm that everyone did terribly in and the exam was very fair.

Great professor, has humorous examples and is a fun teacher. Knows the material and will take extra time to go over it if need be. Finishes content for quizs well in advance and is usually done early, both of which are a bonus!

Favourite physics prof. Explained every concept well and clearly and on top of that he was always joking in lecture and incorporated it into his lecture slides. Not a particular fan of physics, but he made the course enjoyable. If you have an option between physics profs, always choose him

He subs in for Orbax occasionally and he is so much better andd refreshing when he teaches! He doesn't waste time insulting us like SOMEONE but rather teaches us material in an easy to understand way and is hilarious. Also when he answers questions he is usually clear. And hes cute ;)

Amazing prof- although he sometimes writes on paint off his computer which can get messy, he posts his lecture notes and is extremely clear. He puts an effort into making his lectures fun and has hilarious applications to physics problems. He's overall a great prof especially for first year, and he really prepares you for what's happening.

Great professor. Interesting and clearly knowledgeable. Doesn't just talk at the class like some profs. Keeps the class on pace with quizzes well and makes sure we have proper material for each one. Made the quizzes really easy.

Explains well. Unfortunately, the PHYS 1010 course is death and you should do a LOT of problems to even pass.

Dr. Massa is a great prof. His midterms are very challenging but fair, and he gives lots of opportunities to earn marks through bi-weekly quizzes and labs, and they actually help you learn the material. Lectures are really dynamic, he explains the material very clearly, and is committed to helping students. Also very funny.

Prof. Massa was an excellent prof. He explains the material well and keeps at a good pace so you know all the material for the quiz. He was quite funny in lectures and had several interesting demos and exercises during lectures, which enhanced both the lecture and understanding of the material. Definitely take physics with Prof. Massa if you can!!

Very good prof, very clear and organized lectures. Always posts the slides with extra questions to do for extra practice. Prepared us well for the quizzes and exams.

Dr Massa is the most hilarious prof I can imagine. He teaches very well, explains material clearly, and makes sure everybody follows. Beside that, he's really funny and accessible. I never took physics before, and he made me like it more than I expected. His lectures were enough to pass the quizzes well (without the textbook).

He teaches the material really well, and answers questions clearly. But you still need to do the homework questions from the textbook (a lot of them) to do well. & He's hot.

Easy on the eyes and good at teaching. He is very funny but also still manages to teach physics in an easy way. Massa was a breath of fresh air after having Orbax. Quizzes were easy and went into the final with 100. Final was brutal and worth 50%

This man is amazing. He made me wanna go to class. He's a good teacher but he sometimes, I found it kinda hard to learn with him. Maybe its just physics.

Mike is a funny guy. His lectures are interesting. I wish he would have used clickers this year instead of assuming we are understanding. His tests are tough but fair if you've put in the work. Lectures are a must. 1010 has a lot of conceptual topics. Good opportunity to earn marks in labs and quizzes, if you have a good TA.

He's definitely a S tier professor. Easily one of my favourite professors and I may be making too quick of a decision, but he deserves more than a 4.6. Super funny guy, he definitely likes to make people laugh. He seriously makes physics fun and I actually look forward to his class, and I think that's an amazing trait to have. Get him as your prof.

MIKE IS AWESOME! Coming out of phys1080 I was very stressed as I didn't have a great prof and I'm not the type to teach myself. Mike's lectures were so enjoyable and he made hard topics so easy to follow! Although I'm sure the prof teaching the second have of the course this semester will be great as well, I really wish Massa was staying with us

Mike makes the physics portion of this course something to look forward to (I also enjoy the math portion of this course) because his lectures are hilarious and enjoyable. Sometimes we do worked examples during lecture which I find really helpful (especially questions with hilarious diagrams)

Most brilliant, fun, and hilarious prof I've had so far. Mike really cares about seeing students succeed and puts a ton of effort into transforming content that is generally extremely difficult into a course that is actually quite fun. The labs are easy and very enjoyable, but the quizzes can be quite difficult if you don't adequately prepare.

Mike made physics a fun class, and I hate physics. The lectures were fun and informative, I looked forward to going to class and he held my attention. He was super accessible for questions too. Highlights include shocking students with static, a fake boxing match, and making people scream in unison to measure decibels.

Professor Massa is a real one - makes physics fun with his engaging lectures and great sense of humor. Unstuck study was a lifesaver for studying alongside the free textbook. Definitely take this class if you can.

Mike was great. I had him during the second half of Phys1300 and he was very funny but also was very good at explaining each topic beyond what the slides said. Cared for his students and made sure not to rush and to ensure everyone was on the same page.

One word: Goated He knows what he's talking about, good at what he does, makes you want to come to lecture, makes you want to learn more about physics and take more of his courses. Sadly I'm not a physics major so I cant take most of his courses, but if you can take any intro physics courses with him or quantum physics, absolutely do.

He taught PHYS 1500 this year and it was the best class ever! rating him now to reminisce on better times, back before I took PHYS 1510… anyway he's very intelligent and such a great teacher. highly recommend.

I hate physics, but I love Mike Massa. I would take physics again for him.

Mike is great he brings extra stuff into class to make it more hands on and integrative. His lectures are also interesting and he cracks jokes here and there.
