Very good teacher, anxious to help out students so that they understand the material.
clear to understand his teaching complemented with a good time to study the material you'l do great..
I took this class 3 times and he was the only teacher that actually made it clear for me. he doesnt overload you with homework either.
He has his website, so if you don't attend his class, you can check your grade and homework on the website. There are always two kinds of tests (take-home part and in-class part). In-class part is easy, but take-home part is a little bit difficult. He is really kind if you are cute.

I hate math and this guy made it so worth it. Don't be afraid of office hours, they are your friend and he doesn't mind if you bug him. Tests are two part, and the take home is brutal- I cried over a couple. Pay attention and you'll pass
I personally feel he seems unhappy alot and not easily approachable to ask questions. i feel if he is going to show examples on the board he shouldnt remove any of the problem just to make it shorter for him to write. we underlings cant move as fast as him. thats my only problem with him. he does know math very well.
Best math teacher i have ever had. He knows how to teach so that people with normal intelligence can understand. His take home test are a challenge, but they re-inforce everything you learn, so it stays with you. The homework are only the 10 hardest problems for each section. His class atmosphere is laid back unless you take him during the summer.
Good teacher, I ended up dropping this class and getting a W, but it was not because he was a bad teacher. He is a tough yet fair teacher, his take home tests are horrible but he gives you all the info you will need. Good teacher and this is from someone who ended up dropping the course, so that should say alought.
Teacher has no understanding that he is teaching a basic algebra class. He completely understands the math he is teaching, and figures since it is easy for him it should be just as easy for the class he is teaching. The amount of homework he assigned was very sufficent, but is in no way reflects to what was on the test.
he is very boring, i would not recommend him to anyone, he tells the worst jokes and little things bug him and annoy him.
Homework is light, but he does not like to be asked questions. I think he should realize that we are there to learn algebra, because we do not already know it. For may of us it is a first time taking it, and questions should be allowed. He does know math though, but he is the MATH TEACHER FROM HELL! Avoid this guy like the plague at all costs!!!!
Sense of humor; explains statistics well; organized; lots of rules for homework format, etc.
He finds joy in torturing students and giving them bad grades. Not helpful and makes students feel dumb any chance he can. Homework is not bad, but 5 In-Class Exams(not very many ppl finish) and 5 Take-Home Exams(avg time=9hrs). Is that how you would like to spend your WEEKEND?!? Avoid him if you can.
Knows the material very well. Decent job in explaining concepts/strategies. Recommend to all comm college students who want a taste of the challenge that awaits at a major-league university. He is obnoxious though, and needs to realize that his job as a community college instructor is to persuade young people to learn.
First and most importantly, he's a great teacher and explains the material very well. However, as some people have already noted, the dude just seems really unhappy most of the time. He has a really unpleasant demeanor and is easily annoyed by trivial things. He also tends to make obnoxious and sarcastic remarks and jokes.
Mike is really not as bad as other people may say. He is a little difficult, but he is always willing to help clarify any unclear material. He seems to scare students away in the beginning of the semester, but if you will be faithful to attend class everyday and be willing to do the work, you can manage to get a passing grade.
I thought Mike was a very good pre-calc teacher. He knows the subject very well, and was clear and concise during every lecture. The pace was perfect, and he gave us a lot of time to finish the small amount of homework he actually gives. Tests are tough but he will always take your questions and explain as best he can! Great guy.
we really do not understand, why they are some students say he is a good teacher. I think he is A very weird, ridiculous teacher. I never seen a teacher like him.
At the beginning this guy will scare the crap out of you. But if you stick with his class, I guess you get use to him. I would call this the 1st actual university level class I've taken ever. It is difficult, if you don't go to class, you'll most likely fail. He makes stupid remarks, but he knows his stuff as a professor.
Mike is a very good teacher who obviously knows his subject well. He was clear and concise, and very helpful if you had questions. He had no patience for people not there to learn, but if you put in the effort, and are there to learn he is the one to learn from. Everything he taught has stuck with me as he made it easy to understand.
he is the worst teacher for math...he doesn't speak plain english, he has to use all these fancy words...which make the class much more confusing.
The worst teacher I have ever had. He has no idea how to teach math to those who have not learned it prior, in another class. Seems to hate teaching, and does not care at all about his students (eve if the class avg on a test is a 47 percent!! Would not recommend him to any one.
YEAH I AGREE LOOK LIKE HE HATE TEACHING... NO FUN HE CAN APPEAR LIKE A JERK, BUT HE REALLY ISNT, HE SHOULD ENTER THE CLASS WITH A HAPPY POSITIVE ATTITUDE... AND NOT GIVE SO MUCH WORK WITHOUT EXPLAING HOW TO DO IT... YOU LITERALLY HAVE TO LEARN BY YOURSELF
The class was at your own pace. Besides buying the book you have to buy $100 my course compass program. The program was great because it gives you great examples. You need to try your best and attend every class. You have to do work outside of class. He wasn't mean like evryone says. He is just strict.
Yikes... I showed up more than he did. DON'T ask questions, he won't answer them in class! I think he's in the wrong field! You'll walk out of class feeling defeated and dumb. Stay Away from this guy.
unless your a math major stay away from this prof! He is a bitter person who always seems unhappy, & he makes it seem like his students are wasting his time. go w/ the newer postings, I didn't and now I'm kicking myself, I passed the class but this guy will bring down anyone with his attitude
Well I thought Mike was a great teacher. Is he the nicest guy in the world? NO, at least not in the beginning, he has zero tolerance for people not willing to learn and put forth the effort. If you work hard, he will help you. Also at the beginning of the course, he stresses to you that your level of english comprehension must be up to par.
He is a great teacher who stresses in the beginning of the class that your level of english comprehension must be up to par or it will be hard to get through the class. He clearly is not there to be your bff, but if you work hard, he will help you if you're having trouble. He is strict. He has zero tolerance for lazy students.
Great teacher when he comes to class. He is not the most friendly, but he explains everything very well. I was the most scared of college math and still earned a high A. He doesn't respond to emails, but he does provide time in class to do homework, so you can ask questions then. Do all your homework and show up for class and you can do great.
ABSOLUTELY WORST TEACHER!I swear I wish someone would have warned me!! He doesn't teach you ANYTHING!You have to learn it by yourself!PLUS!You have to score 100% on every section quiz or you can't continue with the rest of the TONS of quizes you have to take! That means,if you miss one freaking question, you have to re-take the entire freaking thing!
Almost failed this class (and I'm on the dean's list!) He couldn't explain anything for what it was. He got all fancy with terms and talked endlessly about useless things. attendence isn't mandetory, which makes it extremely hard to go to class and he got mad when no one showed up.
This class was quite ridiculous. I took precalculus with him, and he "taught" material from calculus 1b, calculus 2a, and calculus 2b, as well as some advanced physics. He spends the majority of his time showing pointless algebraic work, and doesn't explain how or what the meaning is to what he's doing. Overall, a very hard unreasonable class.
Not Good, He is not good at all half of the class drop because you just work by yourself and by yourself you have to get 100 % on quizz . all quizz are done only untill you get 100% you can not move to other section . very hard ,do not take this class at all .
Not Good, He is not good at all half of the class drop because you just work by yourself and by yourself you have to get 100 % on quizz . all quizz are done only untill you get 100% you can not move to other section . very hard ,do not take this class at all .
If you don't have A LOT of time to put toward this subject, I would not recommend taking it. There is a lot of homework and reading of the textbook for full comprehension. But, it can be done.
If you do not go to class, you will not succeed. He is not a bad teacher, he isn't going to hold your hand. He gives you the tools to succeed and is very clear its hard work! mandatory attendance isn't nec. grow up and get to class! He will help you but you have to ask for help.Statistics is a very hard subject, be prepared.
I took the class during the summer, it was all fast paced. All quizzes & tests are completed online and homework was moderate. He never gave us a lesson and never helped much. There were 3 tutors to help. As long as you keep a steady pace and not fall behind, you'll get an easy A. Otherwise you'll stress yourself out towards the end trying to catch up.
very clear in his lecture and funny, structured in his lessons. Gives computer work homework and quizes.
hes a teacher so he should really teach and not just be there sitting down
he is the WORST teacher on campus. you do not learn anything if you take him, if you struggle in math, i recommend NOT taking him because he uses the online thing and just sits there in the front doing absolutely nothing without acknowledging his students.
He is a fantastic teacher. Gives lots of homework and teaches everything clearly. The homework is a lot but it truly prepares you for his tests. Tests are in-class and he gives a take home portion. One of my favorite professors in my college experience
This class was almost entirely online even though he does lecture. Half way through the semester his lectures became redundant since I was basically teaching myself. I was taking Calc 1B as well, so the material wasn't bad for me. Tests were online and easy since they were just like the HWK. Overall an ok teacher if you're willing to do the work.
Math is very difficult for me personally. I didn't heed anyone's warnings about this prof. but i should have listened. He's an alright guy, just depressed about his job. But I really didn't learn much from him, I taught myself. In the end, I gave up because i couldn't do the homework. I should have gone to tutoring, but he should have taught us.
Prepare to work very hard. This is college, so do the same with all of your classes--study hard to earn the highest grade possible and quit complaining.
Great teacher, but way too much work. Averaged 16+ hours a week outside class. If only online homework load would have been ok, but adding written homework was way too much. Passed, but have never worked more for it than this class. Also, IMO too much weight on the 3 unit exams(75%) and only 25% left for written and online homework and quizzes.
This class is ridiculous! It's entirely online I didn't go to one single lecture which makes no sense since it is supposed to be a LECTURE class. The work is too much. His grading system is horrible too I got a 92% in the class and he gave me a B because you have to get a 93% to get an A and it's all based on numbers. Run away... far away.
this class makes you work a lot just like any class in any other college students in this college for some reason expect not to do the work and still pass or expect little amounts of homework so expect to study if not don't bother taking up room in the class and give the opportunity to someone who will work hard!
worst teacher EVER stay away. unhelpful and doesn't care about his students. He sits in his chair while you work online. At least his TA's are more helpful enough. It seem yo have to beg him for help, which comes with an attitude.
WAY TOO MUCH WORK! On the plus side, you only have to showup to class 10 times the whole semester.
Very clear about what is expected. Lectures are decent, but MyMathLab pretty much teaches you everything you need to know. If you're ready to spend a significant amount of time doing homework then you can get an A. Not too demanding.
Technically this class wasn't online but it feels like it was. Every class session was pointless because he is a horrible teacher! He doesn't clearly explain concepts. Expects you to already know the material. I taught myself throughout this whole class. Lots of homework assignments! And pulled a few all-nighters.Worst teacher, avoid at all costs!
Is he a teacher if he never taught? He sits on his computer all class long and does not talk to anyone. TA was helpful, not him. Canceled 10 classes in one semester. He is a disappointment and should be embarassed to collect a paycheck. Avoid him if you want to succeed.
Took him during summer. He's not the easiest or nicest professor & he does make you work hard, but you'll understand the material, he's a good lecturer, very clear & helpful, and helped me understand the topic even more (took AP Stats in high school). Definitely deserves more credit than he is given. Gives daily quizzes for attendance.
Prof. McJilton is a decent lecturer. Better than Dr Le in my opinion. Moderate amount of homework. His take home exams are very lengthy and very difficult, but not impossible. Read the book, study, go to his office hours and take advantage of the Math tutors on campus. Do more homework than what he assigns and you should be ok.
Prof Mcjilton is a smart teacher. I took stats with him and I received a high B in his class and he bumped me up to an A so do all your work and DO NOT PROCRASTINATE!! He only missed one day with our class so try to get a morning class with him and he will 99% of the time show up. Grow up this is college, it is going to get hard.
Math majors don't have to take the final. As for everybody else.... students scrambling about the classroom the entire semester looking to each other for answers while Mr. McJilton sits in his office. Does not teach or prepare you for any test given. He pretty much sets you up to fail with his written homework and ridiculous classwork.
He gives you a lot of work to do, so make sure you don't procrastinate. On the other hand, if you do all the work you will receive a B or higher because by the time the test comes you will know how to solve the problems. Only take his class if you want to learn and willing to put in the work.
I will never take this professor. I try incredibly hard to understand math and he goes into the class expecting students to know as much as he does... hello? your there to help us not make fun of us with your sarcastic remarks. He can come off rude. I withdrew from the class and retook it with another professor and passed with a "B"
To be completely honest, Mr. MiJilton is not an easy teacher, so if you're here reading these reviews to make sure he's an easy teacher to take, TURN around. He's a good lecturer, makes you challenge yourself and his humor is dry. I am taking him again for Math 54 and I feel more confident about what he expects since I already know what he wants.
The professor gives too much work that does not count for any points. If you are not willing to do math homework every day, do not take the class. It is possible to receive a good grade, you just have to not procrastinate and teach yourself how to do the math problems.
This professor is by far the worst educator I have come across in my whole 16 years of receiving education. If you're taking more than one class than this class is not for you. His class is easily the equivalent of 3. He assigns work that doesn't count towards your grade. Ironic how the Cod counselors even suggested to not take his class. Go figure
Homework overload. Most of the course work is online so it was as if I was taking an online course. On the first day of class there were 50 students + crashers. On the last day of school there were probably 13 students, as most dropped the course due to class failure. The exams are difficult and time consuming. I would recommend a different prof.
There is no work overload. The homework takes at most 45mins. Math=You+Your Brain. USE resources: READ the textbook, USE a calculator at home for correct answers, then work out problems by hand to make sure you're solving correctly. He gives half credit for careless errors to help you break bad habits- it brought up my exam score from a C to an A.
I think this professor is not a best choice,, because he never thought in class. he just playing video15-20min, than we should work by our self. also ... toooomuch home work.
Don't fall behind and do your assignments the day of and you'll be good.
Notice that most of McJilton's good ratings are for Stats; this is the only class he puts his best effort into. He is VERY knowledgeable, but bad with students. I have never had this much homework before or since. Do not take McJilton unless: 1.) You don't need much personal attention. 2.) You are prepared to do a phenomenal amount of homework.
DON'T TAKE HIS CLASS!! He simply doesn't care about his students or their learning experience. If you want to actually learn the material, he won't help. Homework is extensive, but that is to be expected of all college level math classes. His exams are designed for you to fail. Unless your a math genius, you won't succeed in any of his courses.
AVOID! McJilton is a terrible teacher who thinks he must guard your every move--even your scratch paper. I missed turning in one scratch paper because I could not believe he really wanted it and he promptly assured me I could never get a A in his class because of it. His idea of homework will prevent you from learning statistics.
He is one of the worst professors I have ever had to this date. He is uncompromising and treats his students as lesser beings. His lectures could not be more boring and monotone, and his assignments will take up the rest of your life. I am not kidding, he gives an insane amount of homework (written and online). Also, very rude.
So at the end if every unit you have all your onlinewritten homework, GROUP project, ONLINE test &TAKE HOME test due. In class you then take another test that's TWO parts! There's just tons and tons of work to do in this class. Take if this is your ONLY class and you have a master's in mathematics. It's hard! Good luck...
Do the work and grades will come. He is strict with what he requires. He has a very dry sarcastic sense of humor.
HE GIVES LOTS OF HW. The material is not difficult to understand if you really apply yourself and study. You have to be VERY INDEPENDENT because sometimes he does not show up. Most of the time I felt as if I was teaching myself, which you're going to have to do often. Full time and 2 other class and with lots of studying I passed with a 'B'
I will be COMPLETELY HONEST. He does not set you to fail, but rather, to actually learn about statistics. He is NOT easy. As long as you study and practice the section before he lectures it, the class will be easier. IT IS ALOT OF WORK. I got a C bc I didn't care much about doing the work in the beginning of the semester.
Some of the tests can be confusing but i found his class easy to take. We showed up, he spoke for a few and then we watched videos on problems and he then showed how to do them. He grades homework randomly so do all the problems! Im taking him again for another math class for summer. Hope to pass again!
I do not recommend this professor he is very negative. He does not like to answer questions during his lectures. His lectures of math problems differ from the homework. He does not reference the book or explain the new problems but expects you to know them from the book. He does not care about students and makes inappropriate remarks. Do not take.
Worst Worst Worst Professor Ever!! I would never try taking him again. He has 3 hours to explain and help you out but in my class he only used an hour and a half! he jumps too to many different subjects and he makes the material harder than it really is! i went to the lab to get tutor and they explained it much more clear than him. Never Again!!!!!
Look, this is a tough class and he is a tough professor. There is a lot, and I mean a lot of homework for this class. He made me actually learn the subject matter which is something other professors don't do. It is not any easy A (or an easy B) but I recommend those who take him to stick it out till the end. This class requires a lot of time.
If you take stats, get ready for a ton of homework. Projects, online hw, written hw, and tests. Although if you do stick through the end of the class and get good grades on everything you have to turn in then you should be fine. Most people drop because i feel they dont do the hw but overall i enjoyed professor mcjilton. He's chill.
Professor McJilton is awesome. Uses unfiltered unmitigated profanity for comedic purposes. You can't weezil your way through his class, you have to put in work. Lots of it. You cannot learn it all without working hard. You will need to dedicate about 240 hours of your life to this class. If have a job, let this be your ONLY class.
The most work that I have had to put in for an A at COD. This is including A&P and Microbio among other science classes. It really is not a hard class as it is very time consuming. Expect written homework, online homework, a take-home test, 2 in-class tests and a project for every unit. Expect to be one with you TI-84. It will get you through!
confusing, withdrew from class. did not like his teaching style.
Took him for MATH 60 in Summer, EASY A! Took him for MATH 54 in Summer and I had to drop because of surgery. NOTES ARE ESSENTIAL. He brags about being a "Mathematician" and thinks his way of learning and doing a problem is easy and common sense. He requires to show all work. He tells jokes and sometimes we got out early. Ask for help, he will help
I had him several years back for Math 10. He was tough and not very helpful. He had told out class that since his previous class didn't listen to lecture he wasn't going to lecture us and gave us work. At the end, out of 30+ students, 8 were left. I had a D and needed a high 80% to pass. I didn't answer half of them but still passed with a 70%.
McJilton is an excellent instructor. Everything is explained clearly and he is always there after class and during office hours to help you. He is way friendly and has a superb wit. Keep up with the homework and you will be fine. Any bad reviews you read about him are from lazy students who blame professors for their own failures. He is awesome!!!
Took his Pre-Calc class. It sucked. He's really smart about the subject BUT HE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO TEACH. He just does problems on the board and his explanation for everything is "That's just how you do it" like with literally no explanation at all. Whenever we asked questions he couldn't really answer because he "just knows" how to do it.
He's a cool guy makes a lot of jokes but not many laughed so typical math professor. Do your homework and don't slack off or you'll be lost but if you do everything you'll be well off. He expects the class to participate but he wants answers quickly.
He assigns a RIDICULOUS amount of work. There is online homework, written homework, take home tests, online tests, in class tests, and projects. Keeping up with everything is insane. If you have other classes or a social life I recommend you do not take this class. Nice guy, horrible class.
Professor McJilton is okay. He is very strict on the written homework and he does not accept any late you. he did not provide any study guides for any of his exams such as finals or midterm. his grading is con confusing, and overall he is just not organized and is very lazy. if you show up to class and just do the okay.
Although there was a bunch of homework to do, it wasn't hard at all. The busy work actually engraves understanding of statistics into your brain. His lectures make sense as long as you keep up with homework (which is quick to finish if you keep on track, let the work build up til the due date and you'll regret it). DON'T PROCRASTINATE! He's funny.
Make time for the homework! I found his class to be EXCELLENT The amount of homework given which is a lot actually helps you engrain the knowledge, which forces you to be prepared for the tests. He makes the lectures interesting and funny. He talks fast, but he is willing to work with you and answers questions. he is not mean, just straight forward
McJilton himself was an excellent professor, very knowledgeable about the subject, answered all questions thoroughly and was available for help outside of the classroom. That said, the class itself is very difficult. Most difficult class I've taken at CoD. ALOT of work (Online, in-class, take-home). Would not recommend if you want a definite A.
This professor is extremely hard and extremely time consuming. Be prepared to do a mountain of homework every week. It is disappointing that his lectures are based off of extremely old concepts and you can tell he just goes through the flow. His teaching style is also extremely old, " The more you write it down the more you retain."
He doesnt really "teach" all he does is puts up videos of what we are going over and just sits at his desk. It's very rare that he will get up and actually go over the problem.
Had him for Math 054 and over all was not a good experience. He hardly teaches the class, all we ever did was get on MyMathLab which he did not bother helping out and gave us a TON of work online. He had a teacher aid help students instead of him. We had lecture every other day and he rushes through the lesson.
Did not enjoy his class. He has different teaching skills than other math professors I've had. Basically if you don't solve the problem the way HE teaches it, he will mark you down.
He's pretty much just like any other math professor. There is a lot of homework to do, but it's all a part of the learning process. Don't expect him to hold your hand through the lessons like other profs tend to do. It's math, so be prepared to do some learning on your own.
There is a ton of homework, that's to be expected it's math. However, he assigns more than he can keep up with grading and tests take weeks to get back. Considering Math is a cumulative subject it's really difficult to succeed when you don't know how you're doing so far because you don't get any feedback.
Do a favor for yourself and do not loose your time going on the first week to see if you can take this professor. The worst teacher I have taken! I had to drop this class because he speaks so fast and jump steps.
I had to drop this class because I failed by mid semester and there was no way to recover from it. I feel he is a very good professor but the work load is insane! It is very possible to pass his class but I do recommend taking this class with no more than one other for the semester. You need a lot of time to dedicate to this class.
Too much homework. Every unit requires a take home test, online test, and in class test. There is written homework and online homework. The workload is heavy, he makes cringy jokes daily. Most of the class either dropped or withdrew, including the smart kid of the class.
Before I took this professors class, I read the reviews and I was terrified. I was expecting him to be trash af, but honestly he's nice and teaches pretty well. Okay there is a lot of homework, but when has anyone ever had a math teacher who doesn't give homework? I would recommend this professor
Very heavy workload, but you gain a very good understanding of stats. He is always accesible during office hours.
This is a 4 unit class, with 12 units worth of work! The Professor uses profanity. He took Gods name in vain several times and with the D word. He made jokes about meth. I started in his class in the middle of winter and he was always sweating, not sure why. His lectures are very unclear and hard to follow. His class is a full-time job!!!
If you want to learn something, take his class. He is a good professor!
He speaks quickly but to the point. He gives you alternative ways of solving problems that make all the sense and explains why. Dont fall behind or you'll be working for hours trying to catch up. He has a Dry sense of humor and a twitch, both are amusing, and kinda cute. You can tell he gets annoyed by people's stupidity which is also funny.
Mike McJilton is the worst teacher you can take for math, he dont explain math right. you ask him a question about what he is teaching and he will make you fell dumb by saying i just explain how more simple do i have to be.. he dont have patience. some of the homework question we have he wont teach them in class. gave half the class c his fault
I am an A student and had to dropp this class. Worst Professor ever. I do not understand why he still teaching at COD.
Do not take him, he gives a retarded amount of homework. Pretty much 12 units of work for just 4 units. NOT worth it!
McJilton is a hilarious professor who somehow manages to make math an interesting topic. He provides great feedback, and honestly cares that his students are able to use the information in practical, "real-world" scenarios. There is a lot of assigned work, but it is manageable as long as you do not get behind. Couldn't recommend him higher.
He gives a lot of assignments for just one chapter. Lectures are okay. I wouldn't recommend
This is one of the toughest classes I have ever taken in my life. Personally, I do not think he is a great professor but what can you do. Even talking to the counselors they know that he is not so great and he can be VERY challenging. Be prepared to put in a lot of work. DO NOT PROCRASTINATE AS YOU WILL FALL BEHIND VERY EASILY.
ONE OF THE WORST PROFESSORS I HAVE EVER HAD!! His class is ridiculously hard and he gives an obscene amount of homework! Test are worth 60% of your grade so it is essential that you do well on those in order to pass and be successful! I would NOT recommend his class to anyone.
Gives absurd amount of homework. Online homework and written homework for each section as well as a technical exercise for each chapter and 3 unit project throughout the term. Each of his tests also has 3 parts, online, take home, and in class. Don't take unless you have to or you don't have other classes.
What a joke of a class. I taught myself everything out of the book. His lectures start with no beginning. No introduction, just overall extremely confusing. He can be funny, but mostly just rude. He shows how much he dislikes his job. Also, you'll have around 80 questions per section, and some days you'll have multiple sections. DROP ASAP!
I like this professor, even though he gives tons of homework , trust me, he will not only teach you how to deal with math, but also let you know that the other things in life are super easy compare to his class.
Gives way to much homework to keep up with. 90+ online questions, 50+ written questions, and a quiz all due within a week! Not to mention, there are 3 unit projects throughout the semester. If this is your only class, you'll probably do fine. Due dates change all the time, his lackluster enthusiasm about his work really shows in his teaching.
Doesn't explain very well, so you're teaching yourself. Class uses Pearson's Mymathlab & that can be tedious, time consuming, & there's a lot of it. On the up side it offers an option that helps you solve problems. Be sure to check your email because he might cancel class. Written hw is almost always due M/T. Online & written hw have similar Q's
He gives out way too much homework that is due every week. That includes the mastery work for section, a mastery quiz, then the written homework for each section and mind you there is about 3 sections each chapter. Plus he takes forever to grade the exams.
Okay he gives so much homework but I feel like that is part of the reasons I was able to learn. This is the third time I take math 60 and I was able to finally understand it. He was very helpful and after every test he gave a print out of your grade and how many points you needed in order to receive a certain grade. He was OK. Kinda funny.
Please consider your other options before taking this class. 10/10 would not recommend. Gives a lot of homework so it is important to stay on top of it. Tests are weighted heavily so important you do good on those, not to mention there is 3 parts to the test, online, take home and in class. STUDY! Not very helpful so try to pay attention in class.
Worst class I have ever taken. Warning to all future student, don't take him. Grading is 60% on exams and 15% is project, he makes no sense online and I had to learn it by myself and it made no sense. I have never been broken by a class but this one destroyed me.(I genuinely cried)I currently have a B and I know it will fall to an F by the end.
Continuing, There is currently only 2 week left and i'm giving up. I know i wont be able to keep the B and it will fall completely to an F. You will get about 1 chapter due a week. it consist of 3-4 online mastery assignments, 3-4 written, mastery quiz, sometimes tech exercises, and during all that you have a project need doing. I gave up and cried
Over works students.
I took it over the summer online, I received an A bc I was ON TOP of my work(can't fall behind.) He is not very good at explaining things so have to read book, he gives a lot of unnecessary homework (it was SO overwhelming) taking during a semester wouldn't be so bad. I DO NOT recommend him as a teacher. He is not reliable outside of class.
It has been almost a year since I have taken this class, but here is the scoop. Terrible. 7-8+ Hours of HW/Studying. Lectures are useless so teach yourself. Mans was gone half the time during my semester. Worked 8-10 hours on a project to get a 0 because of a misunderstanding I guess. Only reason I got a B was because of doing well on final. AVOID!
I want you to trust me when I say this, I am a straight-A student at COD and this class was sooo difficult but not because of the material we learned because of the boring and uninterested way the professor taught. Yes, the class was difficult but the professor is HORRIBLE. I hope you take me up on this when I say this: Chose a different professor!
Prof. McJilton is one of those professors thats comes across as a hypocrite. I had anywhere from 6-10 hours of homework a week, anytime I would submit an assignment he would take 2-4 weeks to grade it, but when I asked for a day extension on assignments he declined. Instructions for projects are convoluted and confusing. Overall, do not recommend.
Professor McJilton should not even be a professor. That is how terrible he is. He is completely inactive in an ASYCN class. And he assigns an indescribable amount of homework. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND DO NOT TAKE HIM!He is absolutely the WORST professor I have ever dealt with. I think I literally could have done a better job teaching the class.
I took calculus 1A, lectures are monotone and difficult to understand. He is very uninterested during lectures. Lots of homework and no feedback on it. He is often not prepared for his lectures. No feedback whatsoever throughout the semester. Difficult to reach to him.
I had McJilton for Math1A, and I had a really stressful time. There is quite a bit of homework every week, and most of it operates under the assumption that you read the entire chapter of the textbook to actually finish it. Tests are also a bit annoying, as the content on there is typically much more complicated than things in lectures or homework.
Lots of hw and his explanations are not great
Professor McJilton's class can be challenging, with heavy weekly homework and tests that are more complex than lectures. However, using resources like unstuck study and the textbook can help you manage the workload.
If you're reading McJilton's RMP after you registered for him, try and switch or drop his class. If you stick with him then you'll be looking for outside help to understand the material. Good luck.
I took Prof. McJilton as a Spring class and I will say, it is a heavy workload. If you take this class, DO NOT FALL BEHIND. Stay on top of school work, there's no room to procrastinate. Exams are worth 56% of your grade. Makes you do spreadsheets, but quite confusing as you have to navigate yourself.
Okay he's not bad. It was my fault I did not study Algebra 2 very well and its hard to remember concepts also I took it on summer yeah please dont take it on summer my ego and pride got in the way I thought I was going to kill it because am usually a A - B student in math. Great teacher no hate. Also study math terminology he uses it a lot.
