Sometimes he's not clear but not difficult. Exams and project are fair. Must read book and prepare though exams are open book and note. Pay attention and show up in class. Sometimes, you got extra credit for staying in class till the last minute.

Good teacher, always ready to help. Made summer school a breeze. Very fair. Would definitely recommend him.
wasn't that clear all the time and did make a few mistakes along the way but overall i would take him. he curves nicely and exams were not that hard
He is first time teaching this class, it's very hard to understand by his teaching. But i think he is willing to help student. Tests are not esay
Good teacher, just read and study powerpoint slides
Hes new to teaching. Very helpful lecturer but very unclear about calculations and the exams are not from him so some of the questions he is also unclear. Very easy on grades.
Great teacher, now taking for FIN 340. Has great stories and teaches you what you need to know to make money. Test are open note and are easy if you learn how to use the calculator. The best Finance teacher at Cal State.
Highly recommend taking this professor. He has 1st knownledge of trading & incorporates into his lectures, excellent lecture style. You'll learn alot about evaluating stocks from the project. Milligan extremely fair & helpful to his students. I would definitely take him again for another course.
Of the finance professors, he's definitely #1. Don't miss your opportunity to take him, otherwise you might get stuck with somebody like (well, not going to name names, but two Finance professors whose names begin with C...).
Powerpoint lectures. Big Group Project. Exams are from publisher and not him. Be cautious upon multiple choice and true false. Book is a must because questions are really detailed. Gives extra credit
Loved this class, gave you time on the project in class and open book and notes for the exams....be prepeared for exams, they are very detailed and straight from the book...use the index for key words!! I got a B in the class, if I would have done all the extra credit I would have ended up with an A+. Do ALL the extra credit, it is worth it!!
One of the best professors I've had. Lectures mostly off Power point, but incorporates real world stuff. Coolest guy, has good stories. He's very willing to help if you ask him. Tests are open book open power point and he gives a study guide. Tests are detailed but not hard, get started on the project early, teaches you a lot.
OMG, a teacher who's lectures correlate with the exams!! Mr. Milligan is an awesome teacher. He is clear, makes sense (something a lot of professors lack), and wants you to succeed. I wouldn't say an easy A, but you will get a decent grade with a little bit of effort.
I real learnt a lot from the project although the project isn't easy. easy-going guy; make funs all the time; take him
He's the person everyone should take for Fin340. He's a very nice and understanding person. It's so nice that when you put in the effort, you'd get the result that you earn. I just love that so much. I worked so hard to get an A, and I got an A, I'm just so glad it was worth it. I hope there are more teachers like him out there. DO THE EXTRA CREDIT
Milligan is a good guy. He has previous experience as a securities/commodities advisor at a wire house firm, and has a MA in accounting. Excellent product knowledge, open to extra credit, comprehensive test reviews. If you work hard and do the extra credit you should get an A. Light on quant.
Great teacher!!! He does an excellent job of teaching the coursework out of the book, and relating it to real world finance info. I learned so much in his class. His project isn't fun, pretty hard, but you learn so much. I wish I would have had more teachers like Mr. Milligan, I would have learned more. He really cares about students.
Milligan, Milligan, Milligan, where do i begin. This guy has a lot of experience in the investment world. However, he DOES NOT take into consideration that some of his students are new to the material. His lectures are confusing and he skips parts of powerpoint notes, assuming that students know what he is talking about. Exams and project are hard!
I agree witht he previous comment listed on 10/14/06. There are many students who are totally confused and the lectures are too fast to comprehend. He always boasts about himself in class and it doesn't help us students to learn what really matters. Not easy...
This brother is a genius and expects his students to be one as well. His lectures are quick and concise, hardly enough time for the information to settle in and stay in our inferior brains. Too bad we're not as smart as him. Class is more difficult than others have rated, test was straight forward but tricky. The project is difficult!
The class is pretty straight forward. He tells you what you need to know for the exam. Still a little tricky, but it's okay. There is a lot of work for the project, but it's fun. His stories about the real world keeps the class interested. I recommend this teacher.
He is a great guy, no doubt he knows his stuff but he doesnt know how to teach at all. he uses the books powerpoints which we can download ourself, but they dont help at all.
I want to be an equity analyst, so this class (Intro to Investments) was truly enjoyable. Plus, Milligan has years upon years of experience in the industry. He has so much knowledge to share. Like others have said though, he sometimes forgets that the people in his class are new to the material and talks over your head.
Solid prof, and knows the materials. Clear lectures, and he expects you to remember it. Tests are clear-cut and follow the review. 1 pg notes for the tests.
Knows his stuff. Talks very fast, zips through ppts. Try to keep up. He slows down for important chapters. Gives great review sheets. Be sharp on the tests because he will trick you. For our semester, he also drastically lowered the no. of test q's so it's much harder to get a good score. Will curve when necessary. Class was enjoyable, learned lots
Very straightforwardclass if you read the book. Ppt lecture not the best, but his personal stories get you through the lecture. Milligan is nice guy and helpful if you ask. Class project: Get started early and have him review your progress. Most groups were doing the project incorrectly. Also, KNOW WHAT TYPE of fund you are for the project!
EASY, PEACE of Cake, unlimited handwritten notes, Easy A, gives u a study guide, + he curves when the class messes up, he's a handsome funny guy. i loved his class, he makes the class much easier than it should be, if u wanna an A, take him :) he's great
The best Finance teacher out there. No need in buying the book, because test is straight from lecture/ powerpoints and Studay guides..
He is Black and he is Cool. Class is hard but you have to go everday and take good notes. All exams are open notes. Study sample FinCoach and the FinCoach will seem like the easiest exam you will ever take. Make sure you get A or B in all your exam cause the Final is Hard. Final will bring your grade down to a C from A.
He reviews for the tests, lets you have a cheat sheets and you only really need the power points. Your group is important. Make sure they are not using someone elses old project he knows
great professor, useful class, project is great learning tool... if u like finance take this guy
He is the brightest professor I ever had. I wish all my professors were as bright and knowledgable. They should pay him more!!!!!
Awsome teacher, very entertaining class. It is not an easy class but you learn alot. You should start working on the group project now, it is no joke! very fair grading. if your late bring doughnuts and you will be OK.
He's a cool guy, very knowledgeable. But be ware of the project, start asap it's huge...and will affect ur grade a lot.
He thinks he is too cool for school, so he does not help you much. A hard beta project and a harder group project. I would try to avoid. Gave me a C- and I studied...
Great teacher. If you are not somewhat understanding of the subject, you will probably hate this subject matter. However, Milligan makes the class very fun. ask him how many wings he gets at wing stop. Insane.
Mr.Milligan is very nice and he is a cool teacher, but his test are very hard. He allows two pages of notes for each test including the final, but class is very difficult. He says that he curves the final and final grade, but doesn't curve that much. You basically have to teach yourself, so if you want to pass, I suggest you take someone else!
This guy is goofy. His class is not easy nor hard. But dont expect to pass without trying. For his group project, make sure you don't get a bunch of slackers or else you're screwed.
Hard Grader..Hard Projects.. and Hard Teacher...DONT Take him...
Cool dude. The tests were easy, he went over everything the week before the test. No homework, and he curves. What more can you ask for?
340: Start the stock market project early. See him during office hours. He is very helpful there. Let's you know what's on test the class before. Just look up the definitions in the book. You get two pages of notes. A little unclear, but going once or twice during his office hours will work wonders. 332: Harder than 340, but BIG curve.Twopgnotes.
Nice Funny guy. Project was a killer. F on Quizes. Exam1= B. Exam2 = C. Final = B. Project C. Final Grade = B-
Well I had him for Monday night class and I felt like he was always in a rush for nothing, found most lecture useless since he took info straight off the book. He curves his tests, but does not explain the material clearly, he might be knowledgeable but just lazy to explain. Like others said start the project early and don't get in a crappy group.
Good Professor. He's fair. Not an easy class but its not hard either. 2 exam (cheat sheets) pop quizes, Final and project. The project is tuff so make sure you have a good group.
Milligan cool & down to earth. His stories from his days as a hedge fund mgm are priceless. Again he is chill. Material however is straight foward from book. Couple of real pop quizzes, couple of midterms, and one final, curves and all stuff is from book/ppt. Project is a killer - find a good group! Study & do your share and no problem getting an A
Milligan rocks. You learn so much from the project and from his stories. Not going to lie, if your not into investments, class will be hard. Real pop quizzes, 2 midterms, 1 fina, 1 BIG HARD project. If you can do good on the test and go above and beyond on the project not problem getting A. Wish he taught 400 level investment classes.
Milligan is an awesome teacher. Keeps the class interesting and makes it fun to attend. His tests are fair and project is hard. Best 340 teacher in the school by a landslide.
He is a great professor. He sure knows his subject. His project is really hard, you must commit to it since day one. Join a group with members that know about investing. The exams are not that hard, you MUST attend the review sessions. Remember to make the project your priority for this class.
He is straight forward, he tells you what is on the exam ahead of time. Very knowledgable in his teachings. No hw or project in the summer, just exams. I highly recommend for a 340 class. I'm glad that i took it in the summer with NO project :).
Milligan's Donuts! This class is cool, Milligan is way cool! He is very knowledgable and entertaining. Took this class in the summer, no project!Study your notes very well and you will do good in the class. He gives awesome reviews. He's very accomodating.
he will go really fast through his "lectures" and expect you to get the concepts (even the things he doesn't go over)...very hard project b/c you don't know what you are doing...hard tests that have very specific questions (cheat sheet is allowed)...overall he is o.k.- good luck
He tells students exactly what is going to be covered on the tests (including the final), so I'm not sure how anyone can complain that he is unusually hard. He's got a good personality. Put in time and understand the HW and quizes, and when the tests come around, you'll have no problems. Recommended!
It's all about the project. If you're working on the project on schedule, it should help with the learning finance stuff. If you understand all the stuff with the project, you can't fail. If you're a bum on the project, you'd better hope your group members like you - and good luck on the tests. Even with open notes, if you don't get it, you're done
Awesome Professor. Makes the subject easy to understand is really friendly. I found it fun to listen to his lectures. Exams are medium difficulty, study his reviews, and you will do fine. The Project is HARD, consult him often and make sure you dont have slackers, or youre screwed. book is near worthless. Wish miligan taught other fin classes.
Study the the online homework. Read book to supplement. He gives reviews of whats on tests. Drops a few quizzes and you learn about donughts! Would recommend.
My favorite prof. at CSUF by FAR. Very cool personality. Makes class entertaining. If you're working hard, he's helpful at office hours. Like all classes, you get what you put into it. He does expect you to work hard. You can't slack off and get an A. Project is hard, with a lot of work, but you're a finance major, you should want to do this stuff!
First time Milligan walked into the classroom I thought to myself, ?He?s Black?? Milligan is awesome. He teaches from experience which is always a plus. Highly recommended for fin 340. I got the most out of the class from his project. Hope you get a good group for the project. Follow directions and you?ll do fine.
Literally the best teacher I have had at Fullerton. His class is by no means easy but I still enjoyed his class. Attendance is mandatory or you will be lost. The project is time consuming and difficult but helps you to learn the course material. Tests are pretty easy if you pay attention & take notes. I suggest doing the xtra credit for the project
Good professor who knows his stuff and has real world experience! Definitely willing to speak with students after class and has a lot of good advice. This class, like most college classes, requires HARD WORK and STUDYING! Good grades are earned, not given, so do the HW and read the textbook and you'll get an A in this class.
One of the best professors I've had. Project is a must, quite hard but I put 110% into it. I declared war on all the other groups on day 1 and we murdered the project. We got an A on the project and an A in the class. It's a good resume builder. Just don't slack off.
Class was cake, A on project, A in class, pick good groups, study all the material, read, be serious or go be an accounting major, If you like the subject I challenge you to take FIN 444-Lai, Milligan teaches at a good pace, review all ppts, notes and online examples thats all i have to say for an A.
Best professor I have ever had. You have to come to class because his slides are better than the book. You still need to read the book in order to do quizes and homework on FinLab website. FinCoach was a breeze. I got perfect score on it. Oh, he goes over what will be on the test for you. 2 pages of notes are allowed on test day.
He is the coolest professor you will ever have.
He is the best finance teacher. The class is easy BUT the project is kind of hard and confusing. Get a GOOD team members, its a must for this project, other than that just follow the directions and should do fine. He does grade harsh on the project, so be very careful! Tests are pretty easy. He makes the class very fun and the subject very interest
Milligan is awesome. I had him for both Fin 340 & 332 during the same semester & survived. He explains material well and is always in his office to help. Both projects are time consuming but with the right group you learn a lot. 3 exams 15/15/30, 1 project for 340, and 1 project 332; 2 parts. He accepts extra credit join finance association.
it's a tough class and his teaching doesn't make the subject any clearer. however you can tell very smart so go to office hours. read the book and you should be ok. There are 2 projects the valuation project is killer so make sure you get into a good group and start early
he is a good professor. must do well on the project. he looks like ving rhames
PLEASE ask him if he exempts from the final. He may do it if you get an A on everything.
Milligan is a nice man he is very helpful. No HW 2 Midterms allows 2 pages of notes front and back.Cumlative final 4 pages of notes front and back. Some of the exact questions from midterm are on final. Project is very hard and time consuming. You must get a good group bec your stuck with them the whole semester.
Gives great reviews for tests. Project is time consuming, MAKE SURE YOU GET GOOD GROUP MEMBERS or you're screwed. No HW. Don't have to read the book, but it will help if you do.
I don't see why this professor receives so many great reviews. He's lazy and is rarely at his office hours. When he is, the info he gives is completely useless. It seems like he just wants you out of his office. Project is headache and he doesn't help with that much either. Doesn't teach, just reads powerpoints. Avoid if possible.
I love professor Milligan. His class is always interesting with real life scenarios. NO ATTENDANCE.He also spends time answering questions after class. All his tests mimic the department final,so you can tell what you will get on the final based on what you get on the tests. He curves too :)MOST IMPORTANT: READ THE BOOK and summarize it on the notes.
Professor Milligan is a good professor. His classes are very interesting because he explains things well and has real world experience. He is helpful, but I never needed to attend his office hours. He was not particularly responsive to emails but was helpful if you ask the question in class. He gives good reviews and often curves tests ec avail
Make sure you attend class and attend it on time! Tests are hard, but curved. HWs and quizzes are online--free points! Prof M teaches the class by implementing real life examples and experiences, which is good if you're a finance major. Testwise, read the book and can't just rely on lectures.
Milligan knows lot about finance and was a stock broker for years. Finance was not my cup of tea but towards the midsemester,I got the hang of it and passed with a b+. 2 midterms, 1 valuation exam, 1 final and online hw assignments just like acct 201a/201b. His exams are graded by the dept bot only the final but all exams. Try to study with a group
This clas was really hard for me. I got a D on the first test, freaked out, and wanted to drop. He told me not to, and showed me I could still do well even with the rough start. I spent MANY hours at his office, and he was always so willing to help. Do the homework, read the book, and use his office hours.
He knows his stuff. The final project is critical. Start early and be prepared for his questions about it. Overall, a good teacher and a great class.
Professor Milligan is excellent. He knows his subject and can teach it well. If you don't do well on the exams, MyFinanceLab will help your grade. Unlimited attempts on homework so you always get an A. Most exam questions are straight from the homework. There's 2 exams, 1 dept. valuation exam, and 1 dept. cumulative final.
Milligan is awesome. He knows his subject and always tries to explain several ways to make sure that people understand it. He stresses what's important and tells you what will be on tests. He reviews with the class before all tests. I had no interest in finance before this class, and he made it interesting.
Prof. Milligan is a great teacher. It wasn't an easy class, but if you go to his class regularly, read the book and do all the assignments, you'll do well in the class. Another thing most students are afraid of is departmental exam, but again if you do everything you should be fine. I would definitely take him for any finance classes he teaches.
Horrible professor. His tests are really hard, his projects are too. He is not helpful at all. He doesn't care about his students. He seriously disappointed me. I would not recommend this teacher to any of you.
He is kind of a lazy teacher. If it weren't for the department to construct all 320 classes to be the same, he would be a disorganized teacher. Brings real world experience, but class is mostly self-taught. All tests are from textbook. Study it like a bible and you'll do fine.
I took his class knowing it would be the most difficult out of all the other professors' but because the material's more practical and relevant. I most definitely would've done better with another professor but I wouldn't change anything - I can walk away saying I passed and I learned some things I can turn into a skill. All from little old FIN321.
This class was self paced, all assignments are due at the end of the semester. Prepare to write A LOT. All directions are in the syllabus, other than that you are on your own.
Great prof as he goes over the test with you and tells what you to know and what is on it. Funny guy and he explains the terms (like bonds) so well. Would take another class with him again. Will need the book as the quizzes cover information from the book. He teaches you how to use the finance calculator which is great!
Use MyfinanceLab to study for the midterm. The final is tricky and pretty hard since it drops your grade significantly. You don't even have to come to lecture. Attendance isn't mandatory. You will learn more from just reading the textbook and MyfinanceLab.
He was constantly going back and forth through the publisher's lecture slides (no preparation prior to class) and often got his own test questions wrong during review sessions. Attendance is not mandatory so it might benefit you more to stay home and read the slides. He does have a sense of humor though which makes going to class interesting.
Read the PowerPoints, ask questions, make sure you understand the concepts. Professor Milligan is there for you and wants you to succeed. Have your financial calculator and pencil ready as that is all you will be allowed for tests. Memorization is key here!
Entertaining lectures. Clearly explains a relatively easy subject matter. As long as you have your financial calculator, do the read and homework, you'll get a good grade.
Be prepared to write. Just 2-3 assignments a week. A lot essay writing. No EC and no tests. Gives full credit if you just follow the criteria. I got an A.
If you need to take FIN 320 you must take Prof. Milligan. Lectures are great, PowerPoint notes are great. Midterm and Final are tough! No notes at all, must memorize everything. he prepares you very well for the tests. He will give you all the help you need if you just ask! One of the best Professors I have ever had!
Really great professor. He makes it seem like he doesn't care but you can tell he does. Little to know memorization required to pass the tests.
Milligan is a great professor. He inspired me to really delve deeper in finance. I highly recommend taking his course. He treats you like college students and expects you to put in the work. The valuation project is tough and is definitely crucial for you to get a good grade in the class. Be prepared to WORK but looking back it was totally worth it
Really good professor, he actually cares about his students. He is there to make sure you succeed. Go to the lectures, not because you have to, but because you'll learn so much from him when he speaks from experience. He's real with you, he doesn't fake any part of his lecture. Good, honest man. I'm glad I took his class.
I'm sorry for whatever soul has to take him next because there will now be quizzes everyday for class, but he made sure that you understand everything. He knows how to make everyone laugh time to time, but his test are hard and I mean studying over 6 hours for each test. The homework is easy but due every week, and the project was interesting.
I have heard of other finance professors being very boring, not Professor Milligan. The entire class seems to enjoy his class, he is funny and makes class fun. He still manages to TEACH you everything you need to know to pass, he disagrees with the textbook so much and teaches you his way. His 3 hour classes are more like 1 and half hours max!
I took Milligan's night classes which are once a week. Lecture is supposed to be around 3 hours but he will only keep the class 1 1/2 hour max. He is pretty entertaining and disagrees with the slides and book a lot. Make sure to study the content yourself & study quizzes, the test are exactly like it.
He is probably one of the best professors Ive had. His test are difficult but usually curves. Do all the homework although it is different from what he teaches and whats on the test. Attedance is manadatory as he made us use an iclicker to ask questions which counted for attendance and quiz questions. Gives a verbal study guide. Recommend!!!!
I like this professor really much although he never replies my emails (lol). I'm sure he read it, but he just didn't reply. Come to his office hours he will explain every questions you ask. Again, take this professor, for me he is an expert in finance.
Best FIN320 at CSUF, took the night class and was pretty simple. Never goes the full 3 hour duration. Tells you exactly whats going to be on the exams, powerpoints are your god. Do the HW and extra credit for easy points! Super funny and do NOT show up late, he hates that. Highly recommend!
His Fin 320 + 321 class seems easy compared to Fin 342. A really difficult class to pass. You must have strong knowledge of basic and general finance. Other than that, his exams are quite difficult if you do not know the material very well (I think its hard to know any material that well). Allows notes, but it doesn't really help.
Beware of the group project. Pick your members carefully. Learned a lot, talks too fast- take good notes. Notes for exam, in class no internet, no laptops, no phones, dont be late to his class. 2 mid terms, 1 final, 1 group project- project requires A LOT of work.
This class is hard. Group project is a lot of work. You get to use note sheets for exams. They are difficult. He knows a ton about the industry though and he may sound hard on you, but its because he cares. No phones, no laptops, and do not be late to his class! Study hard and you will learn a lot.
Great professor! Class consists of: 2 exams, online hw(1ce a week), i-clicker quizzes(questions from his power points so print them out), & the final. Allows 2 pgs of handwritten notes per exam & 4 for the final. Gives verbal study guides for exams & final (most of his questions are exactly like those on quizlet). +/- grading system & he curves
liked this guy bec he has plethora of industry exp. and relates lectures to real life. Also very funny prof. Reading the chapters probably helps to understand conceptual exam questions (i didn't), lectures he tells you all calculators and tells you what to study for tests. One downer is he lectures fast and is lazy so slow him & ask for examples.
Good professor and knows a lot about the subject. He is willing to help students when they need it. The group project he assigns is a tremendous amount of work, especially if you end up in a bad group. Honestly would not have taken him if I knew how much work the project was going to be.
very tough to to learn in this class because he expects you to already know everything. this class involves a lot of formulas which he does NOT go over at all! he says we should know how to do math already and to figure it out ourselves.
Milligan was a very unique teacher in which he had lots of experience in his field, however, did not know how to properly teach the material. I unfortunately regret taking the course with Milligan due to his unprofessionalism in the classroom, unwillingness to teach at a university standard and his overall attitude toward fellow classmates.
Be ready to teach yourself everything. He is a very tough grader. Wish i took someone else who would take the time to go in depth. VERY HARD PROJECT NO GUIDANCE
If you want to net work and try and get a job or need advice of how to get there while also challenging you take this professor. He is extremely educated about corporate finance and specific to Wall Street. I earned A, it was hard work but it was worth the struggle.
Great guy, has a lot of knowledge about the industry. One thing thou, you have to study by yourself, read the books. You are on your own with calculation problems on exam.
Get ready to learn lot. Milligan is a financial pro & it may seem like he's being hard but I wholeheartedly believe he is preparing us well. That being said, class is brutal with an arduous group project & challenging exams. It'll be up to you to teach yourself a lot & ask questions so if you're looking for someone to hold your hand this is not it.
TOughest professor I have ever had. He just doesn't care. He expects everyone to know everything. GIves a group project worth alot of points and he failed everyone.
Teach yrself all FIN321 concepts before taking FIN321. He often skims thru all ppt with a fav. sentence "You learned this in FIN320" so the class'll be dismissed early. Not teaching you steps to build FIN models but grading group project about models. 4p of hand-written notes wouldn't help you much on hard exams. His abbrev is different fr txtbk.
very hard class. the way he teaches makes it seem like he doesn't care. would recommend to take someone who has patience
He's great professor whose lectures are interesting and makes sure everyone understands/knows the content. 2 midterms and a final. For the midterms you are allowed to bring 2 double side notes and for the final 4 double side notes. Final is cumulative, but for every exam he says exactly what it will be so do your notes wisely.
He's cool. He's chill. He's good at teaching theory. However, if you decide to take fin 321 with him then be ready to study all calculation problems on your own. He did not teach a math problem. but the calculation will definitely be on the exams. He's really tough grader. No curves at all.
I would not recommend this professor. Very tough grader, lots of homework, lectures are boring and he can be very rude sometimes.
If you didn't get a good foundation in Fin320 then Milligan isn't for you. He teaches more theory than how to calculate problems. He lets you out early, so that can be good if you're into that. Not the most thorough, but definitely a doable class for those with a good foundation.
Please do not take him. lots of homework and test are nothing similar to the homework. There was no point of showing up to class because he would just skip through the slides. Also he does not go over the calculations in class. I recommend taking another professor for FIN 321.
funny guy who is very knowlegable in the industry but does not know how to teach at all. he skims through slides and expects you to know everything already. 2 exams and a final, you get 2 pages of notes and 4 for the final and a semester long group project that he gives the bare minimum guidance for and grades really tough on it.
Professor Milligan knows a lot about finance and his lectures are interesting! ask questions in the class or you'll be confused. He goes over exam questions before the exam and you get 2 pages of cheat sheets. there's a group project, I recommend starting early on that because it's pretty tough. Lots of h.w. overall, I liked the course.
Nice dude as long as you're not on your phone. Occasionally skips slides but only because the textbooks slides can be confusing and/or wrong. Frequently says things twice ("Let me say it again, ..."), which is nice. Kind of intimidating but in a good way. Def recommend if you like lectures (btw lectures are fast).
Tried his best to accommodate to teaching online. He was friendly enough but also a bit stern. He jokes around a little but is able to maintain focus on the material. Unfortunately took this class online. Probably would have enjoyed it more in person. Taught well and made lecture material as available as possible.
FIN 310!!! He's really NICE GUY, but I will say this. If you like teaching yourself math, this class is for you. We rarely went over calculations, there was never enough time for q's. The homework/quizzes are hard, use the study plan. I never felt like HE was teaching me, the book and ppts were. Class is way harder than it should be.
The class was ok. Read off the slides so you don't need to go to class. The homework and quiz were challenging so make a study group. That saved me so far. The midterms are a joke. This is a math class with calculations and we all studied for math. The midterm was barely on math so many of us averaged 76%. No study guide. Unsure what to study.
Professor Milligan is a very caring, knowledgeable guy with a wealth of experience when it comes to investments (worked on Wall Street). Lectures directly off the PowerPoint slides, and does not provide study guides for exams. Homework on connect was very manageable. Overall, a challenging class but professor Milligan is a great guy
By far my favorite professor of my entire college career. He understands that not a lot of people are good at math and gives you concepts that everyone can understand. Not to mention that he is super funny and I actually look forward to going to his class each week! I wish he had another class I could take next semester.
This class was super easy as long as you actually tried. The homework was proctored, but you had as many chances to get 100%. The textbook is the online platform to do homework & it came in handy for the homework & exams. He is VERY STRICT about being on time & hates if you're even a minute late so just be aware. Other than that, he's a solid prof.
In my opinion you should only take this course if you're a finance student. Otherwise, this FIN342 course might not be for you. Be prepared to study and read the textbook a little more than usual. He's a great professor and gives stories revolving around real-world experience which can benefit finance students more than any course.
The class is more of a problem than the professor. Mike provides everything you need and is very accessible by email.
This class was honestly very helpful, though the material may be difficult and confusing for students at times. The tests felt messy and hard to study for, but in the end, the things I learned were SO beneficial. Milligan is entertaining and friendly! I took away things from this class that well help me for the rest of my life, no joke.
First day of class, I walked in 10 mins late because I was lost. Amidst me sitting down, he stops lecturing to call me and a few others out and proceeds to point at me and say, "I wish I could take a picture of your face, seriously, you look like you have no idea what is going on". Wants respect through attendance but doesn't dish out respect back.
All he does is read off the slides. He tells stories that relate to what is being taught but doesn't teach. Avoid him at all costs because he is very vague about what he wants when you write reports on movies. waste of time/money. i felt lost, yes he allows a cheat sheet but it is not much help as test are vague. good luck to his next victims
Favorite. Professor. Ever. He's hilarious and I honestly enjoyed coming to class even though attendance isn't mandatory but you should still go for the lecture! He gives you cheat sheets, a study guide, and alot of time to prepare for exams (only 3 exams) he may call you out for being late but its all in good fun you need to be able to take a joke.
For a finance class, idk why we should be paying 75 bucks to do homework... as well a test should not be worth so much of our grade, he can not even make a proper study guide and is pretty rude to students at times, like were paying to be here and have things going on in our life, his lectures are all over the place too, wont even answer questions
Professor Milligan keeps the class engaging with his hilarious anecdotes, though he can be a bit strict on attendance. The material is challenging, but with the help of resources like Unstuck AI, the exams are manageable. Overall, an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
