He needs to smile once and awhile. Not to mention some people have a hard time in math, its just not that easy for everyone. Cut a student some slack man!
This class is TOUGH, a lot of homework, and not too much study time in class. He is an EXCELLENT teacher. If you try hard, he'll notice. I never understood math, but he taught it so well, I am getting A's now!
I like his note guides, but that's the only thing about him/the class I like. He totally made me hate a subject I used to love. The way he teaches is very unclear, he's extremely unhelpful and demeaning. No fruits of the labor concerning homework.
He does notlike it when you ask questions. Hard to understand and is moving on even when the whole class is failing.
His teaching skills suck. He needs to focus more on the students and the way that he's teaching. Theres deffinately a BIG problem when more than half the class is failing. Get rid of him!!!!
His explanations are very clear. All test questions are taken from the homework problems. The class is difficult though.
If you ask questions he'll get really angry and look at you like you're an idiot. He doesn't require homework, but that ends up hurting you because then you don't know what you're doing later.
BAD teacher, took calc and apparently he hadnt tought the class in 7 years so he didnt even know what he was talking about.excessive amounts of hw.ive always been really good at math.never had any problems till this class.i dropped out when i found out that i was failing and so was half the class.

Do yourself a favor and Find another teacher. This guy sucks, I droped out early cause I did horrible on the first midterm, I took math 60 in the summer w/ an different teacher and got an easy A.
This class is difficult, but if you do the homework you have the answers to the tests. He dosen't have tricky questions on the test. What ever he teaches you that is what is on the test. I understood math a lot better when I took his class.
this guy is extreamly uptight. he has a really dry sense of humor and he thinks he's funny. he's also really anal about homework. honestly, the first day I saw him he looked high. he came in rockin flip flops and his eyes were all glazed, plus his graphs were about megadeth cd's but dont let that fool you...he's anal as hell!

its true that sometimes, this guy look kinda high. but i doubt he was. the good thing about this class is that he makes you print out notes off the internet which helps with understanding the lesson ALOT. i failed math 60 twice and got a B in this one. if you do the hw and study the notes youll pass. hes pretty easy.

This guy was the biggest dork i have ever seen in my life. It was almost as if he had been made fun of all of his life and now he was in a position of power and he wants to make everybody suffer the way he did. he sucks at teaching and seems to be an angry, closeted individual who has nothing in life but math and his ugly dog!
This teacher is a jerk! He says one thing and then another. He is a really hard teacher eventhough he doent teach well at all. He pounda you w hw and he expects you to learn the material on your own. He is stupid! The only reason I passed his class w/a C is because I am a pretty smart person, i remembered the material from my high school teacher!

He was horrible. He wouldn't answer questions and he didn't know how to work with the calculators. The students in my class were smarter than him! Don't take any class from him!

This teacher should be fired. He seems to take pleasure in the fact that some of his students will fail the course. This is because he is very unclear regarding the material, and the students basicaly teach themselves the material from the text. He told us that HE failed math in college, so he feels it is ok if some of us do too!
EVen though he is not that clear. I simply love the way he does his work as far as he how he got us organised. we didnt have to write anything but print out the notes and jus fill in the blanks which might seem weird but helped me a lot!

So he wasnt my favorite prof. of all time but he isnt that bad. The class is hard,homework everyday.I personally liked his teaching style as he has us print out the chapter sections and we go over examples in class but interaction was basically giving calculation answers so expect to learn a bit on your own.It seems like people either Pass or Fail
He doesnt have the greatest personality, but he knows how to teach math. I hate the subject, but surprisingly did really well. He is strict and sticks to a very organized schedule. But it helps A LOT! If you do your job as a student, he does his. Do your homework and study, and you'll do great.

Good looking and well fit. Yeah, he can teach, but unless you're into military style organization and this class is your ONLY class, forget it completely. Save yourself and shop for a different math instructor. I did and I'm very pleased with Mr. Chris Williams.
he is very organized and provides students with note guides. if you are happy with your grade at the end of the semester, final is optional. Lots of homework but that's how you learn math.

He's a little weird, but he knows how to teach. He has note guides for us, but requires alot of hw after every class.
Good professor overall. The only thing I could complain about is the homework- it can be quite a lot. If you don't do the work and don't show up, don't bother taking the class. It's intense, but if you want to pass do the work, show up, take the test and you'll pass.
Good teacher. He knows what he is talking about but is very "by the book". If you do everything right you will pass the class. Lots of homework but he states that if you pass the HW you will pass the class.He has note guides online as well as example tests. I got a B+ and I had failed HS Math. If you are willing to pay attention take his class.
He comed off very intimidating, first thing he said was if you have other classes or a job you more than likely won't pass the class. He runs his class like a drill sargent, LOT'S of homework so hard to focus on other things so I droped the course and ran for my life. At first this class seemed really hard and i almost droped it but i ended up getting an A in the class. I think hes a really good teacher. Hes kind of intiminating but if you do all the homework then you should get a good grade. He really meakes it clear what you can do to study and get a good grade.
I have had a lot of poor math teachers in my life, and this guy is just as poor. He doesn't teach, he just uses examples in the book. I basically taught myself the whole time. It is teachers like this guy that make me hate doing math. You might as well take this class online. Avoid.
Anal about everything!!! Threw out a hw assignment b/c the "staple was crooked". Teaches from the book. Only attended 2/3rds of the classes because I learned more from the text book. Only plus about his methods are that he is quite flexible with the finals, allows your final score to make up a lesser test score, which was nice in the end.
He is a useless teacher. All he does is read the notes you print online which i could do myself. He does not explain or teach a thing! I was better off taking an online class.
I think you really have to be self motivated to take his class. I was aware that having 2 small children and taking more then one class the suggestion was not to take the class however so far I have the highest grade in the class.
u have to stick it out to the end, be self motivated, and you will find he is a great teacher that weeds out the lazy's in the beginning and rewards the people who stick it out in the end.
Mr. Mumford is a good teacher. His class is hard in the beginning and it seems like he is tries to get rid of the lazy people. However, if you stick with it and study you will pass the class. I am horrible at math but I got a C. He is a good teacher and never tests you on stuff that was not discussed in class!
I liked mr.m...he explains things well, tests are what he goes over in class, and offers a little extra cred, but if you aren't motivated to learn or aren't a natural at math i wouldn't reccomment him, i went to almost every class, studied and did all my homework and it was difficult to get a B...i'm not a fast learner. Overal pretty good teacher.
Mr.Mumford is the worst math teacher.I have always gotten A+'s in every math class I have taken,but Mumford makes easy math look difficult.I didn't start doing good in his class until I tuned him out.At one time he lost the whole class's exams by leaving them out in the classroom overnight.He doesn't care about his students.

He is a very nice guy, but he just doesn't go over the material clearly. I found myself teaching myself from the textbook most of the time. Like any other math class, there's a lot of homework, so no surprise there. His lectures are also extremely boring. I loved math until I took his class. I advise to avoid him, unless you really have no choice.
Disorganized. Syllabus conflicted with scheduled holidays. Regurgitates info from his note guides. Skips steps during problem solving. Not beneficial to the struggling student that has a hard time with math. If you fall behind you will not catch up. If you have to take him, get a full time tutor.
Took him for a fast track class, was not easy, but as long as you do the homework and score okay on the tests, then its easy to pass. I would not recommend him to anyone that struggles with math and/or new concepts. But everyone else should do great.

Okay, Mumford does things differently. He hardly used our textbook at all, instead using the online services provided with the textbook. He assigns tons of homework. If you pay attention in class and keep the homework situation under control, you'll learn a lot in this class; not for the faint of heart, but an effective use of your time. Thumbs up!
This has to be the worst teacher I have ever had. All homework is online and sometimes the method online isnt the same as what he teaches in class. His class is boring and half the time he doesnt know what hes talking about. If youre not GREAAT at mat DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. He just goes over notes and doesnt really help his students.
He assigns 2-3 chapters on mymathlab (chapters having 20-50 math problems each) and will expect you to finish the homework within 2 days. He said it himself, if you work a full time jobhave kids you will not pass the class. Tests are directly of mymathlab questions. If you absoluetly MUST take this class like I did, just do as much hw as possible.
I took Mr. Mumford in Fall 2015 and I fail his course. I would go back for help and ask questions but he would not be very clear and I would be more confused at the end. His notes in class have nothing to do with the homework assignments which made it very hard.
It was a very fast paced class, so I knew there would be a lot of work. But I ended up getting my first A in any math class ever!! All you have to do is just PAY ATTENTION! If you dont understand something, he explains it in a quick matter. Also he gives you a chance to retake a test, AND replace your lowest test grade with your final!& DO HW!
No textbook. Only mymathlab. It's all online and most of the time he gives a lot. He is also not the friendliest person. I'm avoiding him from now on.
He was a pretty good professor. He's very clear in his teaching and is very nice when you ask for help. The only thing really "wrong" with him is he's dyslexic so he has a hard time writing things correctly.
You do about 2-3 sections a day. Before the exams, he gives you a pretest. If you do the pretest, you should be fine on the exam. If you follow along his lectures, do your homework, study for the tests you should be fine. No textbook is needed, he uses mymathlab. If you dont understand the homework, there are examples online which help!
I had this professor for Math 60 also. All homework is on mymathlab, guided lecture book ($13) used daily. If you do all your homework and study it will be no problem. The review sheets are so similar to the tests, if you don't pass its because you didn't even look at the review. It was my first math class in 10 years, I have 2 kids and I got an A.
Mumford was SO hard for me to follow, not clear, very FAST, and was not helpful nor did I feel welcome asking questions. Lots of homework and large story problems. To someone who isn't good at math (like me) I wouldn't recommend him. If you grasp concepts well and don't need to see every step, take him. Expect lots of work and try not to miss
Assigned a TON of homework, but it's a math class so it's to be expected. Not a brilliant lecturer, but it works. Basically he just did homework problems while projecting them on the screen. If you don't struggle too much with math it's fine, but not the best for people who have trouble with the subject.
Oh my god, this was the WORST teacher of my life. DO NOT TAKE HIS CLASS. His class was the worst nightmare I've ever experienced in my life. He doesn't help his students, sets you up for failure. His syllabus literally said "If you have kids, you will fail this class. If you work or have other classes, you will fail this class."
So much homework that there was no time to utilize the tools such as quizzes and practice tests. This made it difficult to prepare for the tests thus not being successful on the exams. No use of notes for exams and all exams done on campus. Very difficult to keep up even after dedicating 10-15 hours a week to homework. That is no exaggeration.
I took Math60 online. The Math HW required for this class in INSANE-literally expect to spend at least 15hours a week on just HW alone. Exams are on-campus, would have been nice to at least have a flash card for notes (for formulas and whatnot) but no notes allowed. Although I passed with a B, I would NEVER recommend this class to anyone.
Reads directly from the notes not taking much time to explain. Goes very fast and doesn't pay attention to questions, when he does get a question he repeats himself and goes on without much more clarification. Very homework heavy2 hours per day. When he does examples he often times makes mistakes and confuses you. Avoid this class.
I took his math 50 class ONLINE which solely utilized mymathlab. It keeps track of time spent on each assignment and adds up a total, i spent 446 hours on the class. I EARNED THAT A. Very accommodating for me when i had work conflict and needed a due date extension on a test . 4 test+mid term + final all done on mathlab at campus in math center
Good class, I learned a lot. There was a lot of homework. Even considering that I took a fast-tracked class, there was a lot of homework. But by the end, I understood the material.
Wouldnt recommend to anyone. Doesnt explain things clearly. Just reads off notes. Shuts students when they have a question. Not a pleasant experience whatsoever. A lot of homework!!
I took this as an eight week course online and there was a 50 percent drop out rate in the middle of the semester. Prof said it was normal for students to have to spend entire days on homework just to keep up. I was good at the math yet I was studying 30 hours every week for this one class. 98 assignments on my math lab total,4 big tests.
The worst teacher I have had so far at palomar College. On top of being a bad teacher, he makes you pay for an online service instead of using the schools canvas website which is free.

this teacher assigns an unrealistic amount of homework daily, a minimum of 3 hours of homework.
Each night takes a couple hours of homework for me, the online program doesn't always give me the right resources to solve the problems, and sometimes even if I am a couple decimal points off, I still don't get credit. The only reason I didn't rank this class all the way to the bottom is because you can retake everything as much as you want.
Absolutely horrible. Not even taking an actual class- just gives us hours of homework with no lectures, have to learn via trial and error. Awful teacher
I took Math 115 at Palomar College. It was a very easy course. He allows infinite retakes on tests, and keeps the best score. Extremely lenient on late work. Three homeworks due every week, each took me about an hour. Homework was not super hard, easy to figure out and you have infinite chances to get it right. Very easy class in general.
I took trig this semester. The program the professor uses made it easier to learn than algebra. Over all the class was incredibly easy and you can take test and homework as many times as possible. My only issue personally was it is a lot of work it l took about 3-4 hours per homework assignment. Great class over all.
I took fast track math by accident, was the worst. literally 2-3 hrs of hw a day 1 if im lucky. was doing great at first but catches up to you when the 12 week math class becomes a full time job. i scored at 73%. Positive words i can say:this is online &is complety your pace, unlimited tries on everything and is willing to zoom with you anytime.
No accountability for misdirection in his own syllabus. Does not unlock chapter homework until its due date. If you are looking for organization, this class is not it. Disorganized, unaccountable, immature, and all around not what you look for in an instructor. If you need help, go to the STEM LC because he will not be the one instructing you.
I took trigonometry 115, and it was a very easy class. It was all online, and the homework was on an online platform. The website would tell you which problems you got wrong on the homework, and you could retry those problems for full credit. Very lenient late policy, and INFINITE RETAKES ON TESTS!!!!. Btw tests aren't proctored. Freest A ever
I took an online, full semester class. I did not speak to him once. Professor Mumford does not lecture, he just assigns third-party videos. Unlimited attempts on all material, including tests. Easy A for an online class, so long as you are willing to put in the effort. I spent around 60 hours over the whole term. 50% of grade on tests.
the class was fully online and the lecture videos were just random third party videos. i didn't have to talk to the professor at all. the homeworks were easy because you get unlimited attempts on everything including quizzes and tests and he extended things a bunch too. honestly as long as you do all the assignments you can get a good grade
