Really good prof! Really funny and likes to inject himself in your conversations with your friends if he finds them funny or interesting. Material is straightforward and lectures are very insightful, somehow knows everyones names even if you don't participate that much. Would definitely like to have him again for an english class.

Extremely engaging and academically responsible. In a course that at times can be abstract, he provided structure and assistance on many levels. Success will be dependant on your effort, but Perschon gives students every opportunity to excel. Highly recommend his class if your searching for clarity in the arts.

Loved his class! I don't normally like English but his class made me love English! He's super funny! Be sure to go to the class that most people skip! He gives out tips to the students that bother to show up! He doesn't have an automatic zero if you miss the deadline instead he gives a week grace period where you don't get feedback but no penalty.

Doc Perschon is amazing! There's a discussion thread on BB for people who don't like to talk in class. There's a film you watch at the end of the semester bec "no one reads during finals season" (very smart idea!) Also very helpful when consulted for papers. Great speakerlecturer. Mike teaches English that applies to everyone - not just arts people. Participation matters, but his lectures are fun, so you won't want to miss. I'm a science student, not an english one but Perschon made me actually enjoy his english class. He is said to be a hard marker but I don't think he was unreasonable by all means. Originally I was dreading this class because I am not a strong English student. Mike is cool, hip and tries very hard to be relevant which is great because otherwise I would have dropped the class. Mike gives LOTS of assignments which seems awful at first BUT, my essays were terrible and reflected on the grade but the assignments were easy (You get 100 if you do it), which is what brought my grades up significantly.

Perschon is an incredibly caring prof. He genuinely enjoys teaching and wants to see you succeed. If you're willing to give the appropriate effort, he will go out of his way to be accessible to you. His lectures are bar-none the best that I have ever witnessed as a student. He swears in the best ways, he's load enough to keep your focus, and the material he covers you can tell he really likes. He has the most relaxes deadlines, and you get to choose when to hand in ("soft" and "hard" deadlines: one you get comments back on, one you don't).

His lectures are entertaining and he tries to teach you about life in general, not just English. There are three huge papers and he is a VERY hard marker. If you're not a good writer going into the course you won't do well. He doesn't give examples of the standard of writing he's looking.

he has a soft deadline to get feedback and a hard deadline a week after - no late penalty. 102 - we had to write on either the Hiroshima bombings or Godzilla for every paper (no, really.) 103 - make sure you read the book and the short stories if you want participation marks (In 103, worth 20%). Final is an essay you can write before and bring in.

Dr. Perschon creates a thought-provoking and inclusive learning atmosphere. I enjoyed his lectures bc he is well-spoken and clear, but also charismatic. He makes the content more interesting through his expressive teaching style. He is fair and reasonable, but also expectant. You will get the grade you deserve for your work.

Only 3 essays in the course, no final exam. And a small percentage counts for attendance and participation. Discussion boards as well but loved him as a teacher. Relatable and made English class my favorite class. Go to him in his office hours to get feedback and you will be fine. Also just do the readings and your life will be easier.

He also really likes to use Godzilla and Hiroshima as topics in his 102 class so if you hate those topics his class might not be for you. Easily accessible and looked over your papers before they were handed in and helped edit. 3 papers with no final but had a lot of other assignments that helped raise your mark.

I finished English 102 with an A+, and I struggled to get above a C with Dr. Perschon. He is such a tough grader. This is a literature class, and I learned to write in 102 but his expectations have contradicted everything I learned in my intro to writing course. He is a cool guy but seriously - such a tough grader.

He is so funny and cares about what he is teaching. You will need to read alot in his class or else you will be completely lost. He can come off a little aggressive at first but he is so sweet. English 103 can be challenging but he make it simple to understand.

Dr. Perschon has a unique personality, his love for literature is shown through his classes which makes it fun to go to. However, he definitely does have a high standard for writing. If youre not a strong writer be careful - as enjoyable of a person he is, his standards are high and he does not budge on grades at all.

If you have the option to have Dr Perschon as your english prof, take him. Over the term, your final grade is determined over three assignments, a summary, synthesis, and final research paper, all of which he gives you a month or so to plan, draft, then write and hand in. Overall, good class, great prof, and gives valuable feedback on rough drafts.

He is a really good prof, I would take a class with him again if I could. I think he is a fair marker, I was prepared to get lower grades on my essay but I got A- on all of them. This is by far the best professor for any english class. If you have the chance to take one of his classes do it. He is very funny and makes english interesting which was awesome since english is my least favourite class. He gives very straightforward feedback on all 3 of the essays.

I loved this class, the lectures were very entertaining and I learned a lot. You only have to write 3 papers which build off of each other throughout the semester. Professor Perschon makes English fun with his engaging lectures and creative teaching methods. The course is manageable, and unstuck AI was a helpful tool for studying.

Professor Perschon genuinely cares about his students, gives interactive and entertaining lectures, and provides great feedback. His ENGL 102 class was mainly 3 papers, all which build on each other to a final, complete research paper. He provided a 10 minute feedback video on the first paper, allowing students to correct their mistakes early on.

Dr. Perschon is one of my first professors and what I learned in class will always stick to me. The topics he taught in class were so interesting — depending on the topic you want to choose. He is easy to talk to when you have questions and his late policy is the best. I definitely recommend him.

I am a Biology student but he honestly made me think about pursuing an english minor. That's how good he is. It is an easy class and he teaches you everything you need to know in order to succeed.

Amazing professor and so much I could compliment him on. It might seem weird that he only allows you to research and write about Godzilla or Hiroshima for the enitire semester, but he wants people to focus on learning to write, not arguing a point because they're emotionally invested in their topic. As a result, your writing will improve

There is no better professor that Mike. He genuinely wants to see you succeed. He makes his lectures very enjoyable, and the assignments all lead to the final paper. He is very understanding that people have other classes, so he makes the workload extemely managable and stress free. No reason to take any other professor over him if he's an option.
