hes a pretty easy teacher.. theres a lot of homework, but its easy .. theres 2 tests and they can either be take home or in class..hes gives extra credit also

Prof. Petri uses current events to help illistrate the topics coved in class. He gives his cell# and emails for help. Simply put...he's great!

Nice guy, very friendly, makes huge effort to be helpful to students. All around fair guy. Totally recommend him. Extra Credit project-easy and makes up for a lot of points.

I love Petri!!! There is a lot of reading if you take the 8 week course, but it isnt too bad and goes by fast. His midterm was take home and 1/2 the final is too! Gives assignments including a term paper but they are easy if you just do them. Nice guy

He is very nice and considerate. The tests are essay however he is forgiving just dont leave early and respect his kindness and you will be ok. An A is managable and a B is easy.

Professor Petri is an exceptional instructor. I took his 8 week class and I was never bored. The work load was moderate and interesting. He is very understanding and I highly recommend him.

PROF PETRI IS A FUNNY GUY AND IF YOU LAUGH AT HIS JOKES HE LIKES YOU EVEN MORE. TEST ARE JUST LIKE ANY OTHER TEST, IF YOU KNOW THE MATERIAL YOUR GOOD TO GO. ALOT OF EXTRA CREDIT GIVEN TO MAKE UP FOR ANYTHING. ONLY A FEW HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS WHICH ARE EASY EASY EASY. HES COOL!

I had Prof. Petri last Spring for PS-14. He made the class interesting and fun. I learned a lot. Asks questions but doesn't call on you if you won't raise your hand.

Professor Petri is an excellent instructor. He actually seemed to enjoy his work and made his class very interesting. He is one of the best professors I have had so far at this college--I recommend him as a PS professor!

Prof. Petri is a great teacher. He wants all his students to do well. He makes the class interesting and his tests and the paper that you have to write is simple. Take him for Political Science!!!!!!!!!!!

Petri is so wonderful! as long as you laugh at his jokes and talk in class, this class with be fun! he is also a cool person, he understands that we college students have alot on our plate. he also explains things very well!

Professor Petri is one of the best professors I have had at SB so far. I never dreaded his class. He is very interesting and really seems to care about his students. He actually likes his work. I highly recommend him.

Good guy and helpful. Unless you are brain dead, attending his class will give you an A or B quite easily. Allows students to earn extra points unexpectedly. Cares about his students. Just attend this class all the time to do well.

He's laidback and funny. His lecture style is he asks questions and the class answers and discusses the assigned reading -- so, read the chapters before class or you'll be bored out of your mind! His tests are multiple choice but can be fairly hard. He gives out tons of extra credit opportunities that will help you out if you bomb an exam.

Good guy, very respectable considering some prof's I've had. Interesting class, extra credit oppurtunities on every test and through out the semester. Will help you and make it easy to understand for you, and he likes it if you call him Mike, not Professor Petri. Participate in class and you'll be fine.

Great teacher, relatively easy, always helpful, and quite entertaining. His jokes are debatably humorous and if the class is into participation its actually fun to be there. He does give the opportunity for a fair bit of xtra credit. Reading is a must but that is to be expected with ps4 and 12.

He was great. Told you everthing you need to know. If you turn in the hw u will get an A. I did:) He gives plenty of extra crdit so if you do that there is no way you can't pass this class and if you try at all u can get an A.A teacher I would look forward to taking again.He is a sweetheart.Saddleback is lucky to have him,he is also a tree hugger:)

Great political science teacher i got an easy A. Always give extra credit especially if you laugh at his jokes.

Petri Rocks! I took another teacher (l.h.) two years ago for ps-12 and he sucked. He talks to you and gives you a chance to respond. There's a lot of reading and group work but extra credit too. Take this guy and you'll get an A.

Mike likes to employ the socraic method in his class. He'll answer your response with a question. He digs down so you have to explain yourself. He's been around enough to know how to keep his class running smoothly. I would absolutely reccommend this class! Best damn class I've had in a while.

Great guy! Laid back and makes funny jokes. Doesn't really lecture, asks questions for the class to answer, usually turns into debates and class discussions. Extra credit for tests. Pay attention, participate and don't talk when he's talking and he'll return the favor by giving more EC and study guides.

Mike's Probably the SEXIEST MAN ALIVE. But anyway seriously if u want an A in his class you will get it he tells u exactly what you need to know for the tests and offers a mountian of extra credit. Seriously take his class

Petri's brilliant! He's so funny. Talks WITH the class instead of TO the class. 1 paper, 2 tests, extra credit. Really laid back. Doesn't cover book word for word, relates things to today. He really wants people to do well and encourages class discussion. Have to work for your grade but still fairly easy to get an A.

His class was great! His lecture style is very intriguing and hilarious. He has a positive outlook on politics, and doesnt let the class get too overheated or out of control. He is supportive in arguments and enjoys in class discussions and debates. GREAT CLASS.

mike is a good teacher but he grades pretty hard. if you dont slack and laguh at his jokes youll probably do good. If you never come to class he wont be forgiving. otherwise good class not easy but not hard if you go to class.

He is sweet, liberal, has a conservative streak. He enjoys all opinions, and his lectures are funny and interesting. He is a great guy and you will learn a lot of the basics of political science and ideologies. I thoroughly enjoyed his class.

Very good class. He's tough, but if you do the work and show up to class, you won't have a problem. He has a great personality and is very entertaining, which makes the class enjoyable. Class participation is encouraged (derogatory remarks are unacceptable).

A lot of reading but what do you expect from a summer class. The upside is ideas/materials covered were excellent. I obtained more useful information in Prof Petri's class than any of the others PS classes taken.

Mike is an awesome teacher. Be prepared to work hard, as his courses have rigorous requirements and plenty of assignments. He grades closely, so skipping class is not recommended. Nonetheless, the discussions are great, and the class really prepares you for entry to upper division. One piece of advice: always laugh at his jokes for extra credit!

Online class is impossible. The readings, powerpoints, and quizzes are just to overwhelming.

I took this class online and actually enjoyed it. There is a LOT of reading but I only read the chapters that were going to have quizes and I got an A in the class. Do the Midterm and Final study guides and be the "team leader" for the group project and you'll do fine in the class. If you are the team leader you dont have to do ANY work just direct

Great teacher, is very helpful. If you do take his course, DON'T TAKE IT ONLINE. It was extremely demanding and A LOT of work. A lot of writing and reading mostly, along with the extra stuff on the site. Other then the work, he was good.

Nice teacher, boring class. Books are a definite must. The teacher puts all three books into a package, which costs $130 so you can't just by them in singles. Work medium to hard, and tests really hard. Teacher is really cool, but class sucks.

He's an awesome teacher. Very understanding and helpful. Some idiots complained about the work and missed due dates but he was still lenient towards them. If you don't read and only expect powerpoints, or be told what to study to pass, these classes aren't for you.

Internet course -- A lot more work than I expected, but not too hard. Lots of reading, a few quizes and papers. The group paper is a pain. Oh dear Petri! :) What an amazing teacher. I thought this class was going to be torture, but with Petri's personality...fun! Just do all the work & try to be involved. That's all he wants.

2nd online class taken (summer). Mr. Petri was extremely approachable, and gave alot of leniency and opportunity for EC. I was surprised how well he took the whining from other students - I would have had no patience for their BS. If you didn't do well in this class, it's because you didn't read the text and make the effort.

He was one of the hardest professors I've ever had. He asks extremely irrelevant questions on exams (sometimes just different answers by a letter; example--"effect" and "affect"). Don't bother emailing him because it'll never go through, just call him or talk to him via webchat. If you do get a hold of him, he's very helpful. I learned A LOT.

I don't know what everyone is crying about on here. I signed up for the online class then read the awful reviews, which scared me. I did the work he asked and took the test (some of them I bombed and other I did amazingly). I ended up getting a B. If you are good with directions then I suggest this class

I thought this class was great. You are not required to participate in weekly discussion boards, but if you did you received extra credit. I did have to read the WHOLE book to make sure I got decent grades on the quizzes. True & False questions are tricky. You are required to re-write the Constitution, be ready. Overall I'm glad I took this class

Took the 8 week online course. Moves fast. Quizzes every few weeks that are challenging. Questions come from the book though so don't lag on the reading. Must rewrite constitution but grades easy. The quizzes and midterms will get you if you don't study. Keep up on the discussions for extra cred and participation! I got a B.

Took over summer. His tests are literally impossible, no matter how much you read. HW is not bad, but there is a lot of reading. The HW and extra credit, as well as the final project, really buffer your grade. I failed all my tests but got Cs on the midterm and final, but still got an A. He is really helpful and friendly though if you need any help

I still haven't figured out Professor Petri. He is either a genius or a fraud. He teaches is a very unconventional manner and claims everyone gets great grades from it because it teaches them the material so much better. Honestly I think he just might be an easy grader. Show up every class , do the work, you will leave with an A.

He was great! Best online class I've ever taken. He's very clear about what he requires from you for the class, gives a lot of extra credit, and is really helpful if you need anything. Most assignments you get full credit just for doing them. He is also very understanding about deadlines, given the online situation. I would definitely recommend him

Nice person. Message him via canvas to get a reply tho. Very patient. Did not take off credit for late assignments. 8 page essay near midterm and 10 page essay for final. He goes through them and will give you feedback.
