Excellent Professor! Clear information, Fair quizzing, homework and testing. Very well organized and you could tell he wanted you to succeed. I would take him for other courses if possible, but only teaching 151 for now! :(

Great teacher! Really cares about students, and e-mails regularly to keep you updated. He makes sure you grasp the concepts if you are in class. Don't be absent though, he doesn't "re-teach" for ditchers. If you stay in class till the end of the semester, he'll even tell you the secret to life!

Excelent professor. He moves very fast, it is up to you to keep up. if you are not prepared to study and do the homework don't take this class.

Mike was a great teacher! He made super helpful notes that he would print and hand out for each chapter-such a life saver. The class moves at a REALLY fast pace, if you get behind you will be so lost. Encourages class participation and conversation. Fun guy, fantastic teacher, answers all questions. Sends email updates after every class.

Mr. Richmond is an excellent math instructor! He is very helpful and explains the concepts clearly. This class moves at a fast pace though, so be prepared to study and do the homework!

Mike is an excellent teacher. He is patient and will take extra time in class just to make sure all of the students are understanding the material. He explains concepts very clearly. His tests are fairly easy. He allows a one page, front and back, cheat sheet for every test and he allows 10 pages for the final. I highly recommend taking his class.

Mike is the best math professor I have had. He makes an extra effort to help you understand the concepts. Tests are not difficult if you attend class and ask questions. Homework is due at the end of the semester. He really wants you to succeed and learn the material.

Mike is awesome! He is very fair about grading--let's you use a cheat sheet on the test, won't let homework hurt your overall grade, and is very organized and clear about what he expects. There is a quiz almost every class which is designed to reward you for coming (they're always easy As). I highly recommend Mike!!

Highly recommend Mike! His grading is super fair. It is almost impossible to fail his class. Always willing to answer questions and responds to emails very quickly! If you are horrible at math he will get you through this class plus teach you what you need to know for the next one.

This class is a balance of flexibility and structure, resulting in an effective learning environment. The course goes a bit fast (for me, anyway), but the instructor allows handwritten cheat sheets for tests. In summary, the instructor makes it as easy as he can for you to get a good grade while also making you actually learn the material.

Probably the best math teacher I've ever had. He's really interested in making sure students understand the concepts, but the class is very fast paced. He grades very fair however, and if you work hard, and do the homework you should definitely be able to pass the class.

The class was great. Mike is a very good teacher and does everything he can to help you pass. He doesn't do the work for you and won't just give you an A but gives you everything and then some to pass his class! The class is fast pace and takes time and effort out side of the classroom.

Mike was the best math teacher I have ever had. I could tell he has a genuine interest in teaching the subject and knows the material backwards and forward. Make no mistake though, to get a good grade you will probably need to work for it. I consider myself pretty literate in math and his class was tough. I can't imagine a better man to learn from

It matters not what type of math person you are, if you struggle he is there to help if you are a math expert you have the freedom to work at your own pace. Great class, great teaching style and by far the best math instructor I have had to date. Thanks Mike!

he is an awesome teacher.He gives homework but you can either get a overall grade from test quizzes & h/w or just tests & quizzes.Lots of homework but it goes over information you need for quiz and test.Powerpoint set-up to help you learn better. he gives you examples & if you do not get it he is will'n to help must do work tho in order to pass!

Mike was a great math teacher! He was no cake walk, but he really made things easy to understand. Put in the work and you'll be fine.

For those that have not taken math or not good at it this class is a challenge. He is clear about what it will take to pass and is willing to help students succeed. Mike will answer any questions and re-explain as much as you need. Math is a boring subject but I enjoyed going to this class. If you have to take MAT151 make sure he is the teacher.

He explains things well and gives plenty of examples. Take home tests are hard and take some time but you can use your book and notes. In class tests are not too bad and you can use a cheat sheet. overall pretty easy class if you show up and take notes. homework is optional but can help grade. he is a funny guy.

Good teacher

Mike is a way good teacher. Only have to do homework if you want to. If you do, you will have that many more points at the end of the semester. There are quizzes at the beginning of each class to make sure everyone attends. Tests can be relatively difficult, so even though HW isn't mandatory it is good to do some anyway to make sure you understand.

I enjoyed his class and would recommend him to my friends.

Mr. Richmond makes sure you understand the material prior to leaving each class. The tests are hard. He really wants you to master each area. Quizzes are given on most days and are easy if you did the optional homework after each lesson. I liked the class, and Mike is genuinely interested in helping each student succeed. I recommend him!

Mike is a great math teacher! I entered the class very unenthusiastic about math, but left actually enjoying it! He does an excellent job explaining the material but doesn't hold your hand either. He treats you like a college student and gives you plenty of opportunities to do well! I would take him again and again!

I would most definitely recommend this professor for any math class. He is by far the best professor that I've had while attending MCC. He knows his stuff, and he treats each student as an individual. I was very impressed by his knowledge, but mostly by his character. There needs to be more professors like Mike Richmond.

His lectures are clear and precise. He puts a lot of effort into helping students understand the materials. If help is needed, all you have to do is ask. In addition, he's simple, fair, and understanding. The rest, is up to you.

Never thought I would say this but I've found a teacher who makes me enjoy math. Explains the material very well, always available for help. Great sense of humor and very personable. He wants you to understand the concepts instead of cramming information. Tests can be difficult but there are plenty of make-up points. Also, don't buy the textbook!

I always disliked math, HOWEVER, Mike is one of the best instructors of all time and, hands down, THE best and most down to earth math teacher I've ever had. The course is fast-paced, but Mike is awesome & cares about your success. He goes out of his way to help you understand. I don't think I could've passed this class with a different instructor!

Really good teacher! Willing to help and answer questions at anytime! He gives out powerpoint notes so you don't have to take so many and allows a page of notes for in class tests. Even if you don't know how to answer a question if you put as far as you can or try to work something out on the page he'll give you some credit. Really liked this class

Fantastic teacher, for he is a subject matter expert and he has the rare ability to actually teach. I hadn't taken math since 2006 and I was able to do well because of his teaching. You don't need a book, and he hands out notes that you can write examples on. The key to the class is homework, as every class starts with a quiz based on homework.

Mr Mike is a great teacher. i loved taking his class. keep up with ur homework, every lecture starts with a quiz. he is a really helpful teacher and goes above and beyond to make sure u understand the material. he would answer all ur questions. i would recommend this teacher to everyone.

I was truly sad when this class was over. Almost half the class dropped, and I had to work my butt off for my A, but I loved this class. MAT151 is a class that requires a lot of work, Mike makes it doable. And in the end I got a higher grade than my Nemesis who sat next to me, who may remain nameless (Justin). Suck it.

Professor Richmond was, if not the best, one of the best teachers on campus. He expects you to work hard for your grade, but he gives you the tools to succeed. He does all in his power to help you get a good grade. Highly recommend this teacher.

I found that Mike Richmond is a very personable guy and a good teacher, he is fast paced with his work but if you just pay attention you should have no problems with his sections. I would have him a teacher again if I were to go back to this class.

He is always willing to stop during lectures to answer questions if you dont understand. his class is very fast paced however, and you have to pay attention and take notes to understand what is going on. hard tests, but work hard and you'll do fine.

He's great! Lectures are easily understood, can use one page of notes on in-class tests, can use all of your notes for take home tests (beware: these are harder than in-class tests), and 10 pages of notes for the comprehensive final. He wants his students to succeed and goes above and beyond for them. Show up, do your part, and you'll do well :)

Mr. Richmond is a good teacher, I took MAT 151 from him, it was fast and we covered alot, tests were a good challenge but if you do the homework you will be fine. Some tests were take home. If you go to class and ask questions he is more than willing to help but if you dont go to class he wont slow down class just for you.

Great teacher, really great at what he's teaching. He loves math so he'll really take the time to teach you what you need to be taught, you can reach him just about any time too and he'll answer any question you have for him. I highly recommend this teacher, but this class is so hard!

Good atmosphere. As long as you show up and get your homework done you will most likely do good. Mike makes the material easy to understand while still keeping it interesting.I appreciated his enthusiasm, because it made it easier to get through some boring material.

Mr. Richmond is very understanding and does a good job explaining the material. He answers questions and doesn't make you feel stupid if you don't understand. Quiz each class period only one question. Do the homework (there is lots of it)! Don't procrastinate or miss class you will regret it! :)

Great teacher! always willing to help, gives many opportunities to do well in class. about 3 take home tests, rest are in class. quiz at beginning of classes worth 10 pts. Never makes u feel stupid for nt knowing something. Must do homework in order to really understand, and it helps with ur grade, of course. Not an easy A, but u will def. learn!!

This class moves at a very fast pace. Don't miss class, ask when you don't understand, write down notes, and do your homework for practice and you should get a good grade. Mike is a very practical teacher who knows what he's talking about. May you future classes enjoy his class as I did.

If you do not understand basic algebra this class will be very hard. He will help as much as possible and typically go slow as possible if he feels the material requires it. If you slack and have a hard time understanding you will inevitably not do well. Richmond is an enjoyable teacher that only wants you to succeed. I would recommend his class.

You must attend all of his classes but if you do you will understand everything. The class moves at a fast pace but if you do your home work and attend all the classes you will do well. great teacher!

Mike is a very helpful teacher. Although the curriculum goes at a fast pace, he is always willing to answer any questions you have. One thing I really liked about him was that after he finished grading every test and quiz he updated mymathlab. This was helpful in always knowing your grade.

It might not be the easiest class but there is no reason why you shouldnt pass it. Mike is a really good teacher. He gives you the tools you need to pass this class, do your hw, show up to class and a quiz everyday that way you will know your material! i recommend him as a teacher for 151! He will help you out with any question and answers emails!

Overall I recommend taking this class. Math isn't the easiest subject and you need to put the work in. With that said Mike is a very helpful teacher. He gives you every tool you need to pass the class and is willing to answer all questions. If you keep up with the homework and attend class then you should have no problem passing.

This class is very difficult, especially when you do not excel at math. Mr. Richmond does a great job at helping with questions and giving outside help. Do not expect to get a good grade in this class unless you have the time to commit to the work.

Mike does a great job in being able to clarify any questions. If you don't understand ask. He does a great job at helping you understand. He has a lot of experience so he doesn't always demonstrate all the examples easily or with all the steps but if you don't understand you can just ask and he will explain in lots of ways till you understand.

keep notes organized- my mthlab is easiest if you truly understand concepts- do not be lazy on annotating everything- fastpaced and use all resources, you-tube, and videos on text applications- careful w/ steps and signs, do not be affraid to use calculator. ti83/4 is best

Mike is one of the most down to earth professors you can ever meet. He really helps you to understand the information & he's just a really nice guy. But don't let his niceness fool you, he'll make you work for the grade. The only negative thing I can think to say about his class is that the online homework program he uses SUCKS! But it's optional.

Great math teacher. I couldn't have asked for a better one. Goes over the topics well and answers all questions you have without making you feel dumb about asking them. His class takes effort tho, so keep good notes, attend all classes, and do all the homework. Uses MyMathLab so homework is easily accessible, but the program can be a pain to learn.

While he's not the "easy A" instructor, he provides all the necessary tools to succeed and then some. While I understand that math isn't everyone's favorite/best subject, his thorough explanations,real life applications, and willingness to answer questions makes the subject friendlier. I'd gladly enroll under his instruction again.

The best thing about having Mike as a teacher is that he holds you accountable. Mike is big on attendance and homework. He has real world experience to include into his lectures so the concepts are easier to understand. Mike’s Math 151 is not an ‘easy A’ but, if you show up and do the work getting an A isn’t hard. Mike is a firm but fair teacher.

Do not miss class! The speed at which the material is taught is intense. Do not take this class unless you have self-discipline. Mike does a good job on teaching the material.

This class isn't the easiest class to get an A on. You have to work for your grade and Mike is willing to help you achieve that only if you are willing to work hard. One of the best math teachers I've had. The class is by no means easy and he does cover material quickly, but he is more than willing to help you understand. Tips: do NOT miss class. You'll get behind and get confused. DO the homework and ASK QUESTIONS about everything you don't understand. Mike is extremely patient about answering all questions.

Mr. Richardson is a phenomenal instructor. The class is VERY tough but if you do homework and not miss class and put a little effort you can pass.

I really enjoyed his lecture and the pace of the classroom was fast but understandable. If I would have to recommend anything to him, I would say that he should utilize MYMATHLAB as practice HW, but he should write out his own HW assigmnets like he does the Tests.

Mike is a great teacher who really wants you to succed. If you don't understand something he even gives out his cell phone number and you call him and he will walk you through the question step by step. This is a hard class so you have to put in the time to succeed.

Math has always been a hard subject for me. Mr. Richmond made the material easy to understand and was awesome about dropping low quiz scores and allowing us to make up our worst test score.

Attendance is only necessary if you want to succeed! So, don't miss lecture. He gives an easy quiz almost every week and grades very easy on them. He focuses only on you understanding concepts rather than memorizing material. Mr. Richmond is a great person and going to class was always worth it to me.

Mike is a very helpful teacher! He actually loves teaching because he teaches at night to unwind from his day job, so you know he is sincere. His attendance policy is very very relaxed but with every missed class there is a missed quiz that can't be made up. He allows helpful items on tests which helps you study the important things!

I have taken this class several times so far, and this is the most well adjusted and fair teacher I have taken it with!

He knows what he's talking about and has no problem teaching it. The curriculum is rigorous, but if you study then you will do fine on tests. He lets you use 1 'cheat sheet' every test. 8x11 both sides, and 10 on the final. If problems arise or your grade drops, he is willing to take the time to help you out. Friendly and very helpful.

He is fast paced but very clear on explaing problems. He will go over problems on homework if you get lost or are having problems. Very funny too.

A good teacher, he goes fast and there is a lot of material to cover but if students go to class every day and do homework they'll do fine, if you need help he slows down to give adequate examples to help clarify the process by helping with homework problems that are difficult. I would take him again if he taught higher level math classes.

Very fast paced class so don't miss class. Quizzes are every day of class, but you can use your notes on quizzes and tests. You need to be very engaged and do the work or you will fail. Professor is funny and very smart, but there is not a lot of detail.

You have to do a lot of homework in his class and it's very time consuming especially if you've never used My Math Lab before, because you have to learn the program but after a while it's not so bad.The class is very high speed and you have a quiz every week, but I would still definitely recommend him he is very helpful.

Mike knows his math very well and uses powerpoint. He provides the powerpoint slides on paper to each student before each section. Tests are from powerpoint and lecture. No book needed. He also lets you take 3 tests home. If you try you will get an A. Math is a hard subject to get the hand of and he understands that and will help.

Great teacher, funny guy, made the class fun. Class was only two days a week (lecture) with mymathlab for HW. Quizzes and test were in class. My advice is take good notes, do the HW you'll be fine. If you have the chance to have him as your instructor, do it. He takes the time to make sure you understand the material.

This professor presents material in a clear way. He seems like he enjoys teaching and doesn't mind answering questions. Takes the time to ask and make sure everyone understands a concept. He was clear about the requirements for the class and how much they count. Would definitely recommend.

Richmond class has a lot of homework, however the slides he prints out for students are easy to follow and very helpful. He has very poor study guides thou.

Mike Richmond is a good professor. His class is designed to move through the material quickly. I would advise students to attend every class, use the tutoring center if needed and ask questions as he moves along. Doing the homework is good practice to understand the material. Use the example problems from the notes as a guideline for the exams.

Mike Richmond is a great instructor. What I appreciate most about him is his willingness to break down a problem to help the student better understand. He will never make you feel bad about asking questions. He is more concerned about you understanding the material and becoming a problem solver than being able to plug numbers in a calculator.

All-around good teacher. He teaches tough material at a quick pace... After the test we started on another chapter! However he desires that everyone succeeds in his class. I recommend taking him if you can put the time in to do the work.

I would highly recommend this professor. My confidence level with math has skyrocketed after his course. He explains things in an organized step by step way that is easy to follow and understand. Definitely one of the better professors out there. Pace is fast but far from difficult to keep up with

As far as math classes go, this one wasn't too bad. Mike is a great teacher has a clear teaching method which is a huge help. The only real con to this class is that it is fast paced so prepare to do the homework and take notes to stay caught up. I would definitely recommend this class.

The class is very fast paced, so you just have to stay caught up on the homework. Mike is very helpful and wants his student to succeed in the class. He responds to emails and tries to help you understand the material. I would recommend this class!

This class goes very very fast. Nice teacher and is easy to get ahold of if you have any questions about homework or anything else math related. The only thing I would have change were test reviews. I thought the test questions were a lot harder then what we were told to study for. Same material, just very difficult problems I had not practiced.

Professor is very organized, and bends over backwards to ensure every student is successful. Hands down the best math course I ever took!

Test are a little weird, do homework and pass

Mike is seriously one of the best instructors I've ever had and a total blessing to his students. I actually took his class twice (withdrew the first time because of work), but I knew I wanted him again. He really goes above and beyond for his students--so easily reachable, fair, helpful, and really wants his students to succeed! Great Guy! A+++
