Pretty cool class. Don't have to show up if you don't need to, and teaches everything throughly. No bad questions, and explains things well.

This was by far, the easiest class I have ever taken at SJSU. Splane was very nice and helpful and he made the class enjoyable. I actually looked forward to going to class for once. I highly recomend him.

This is probably the easiest business class at SJSU. If you've got even a little experience with computers, you'll do fine. The class only lasts for a few weeks, and the in-session assignments are simple. A breath of fresh air from other bus classes.

Aye, this dude is dope. If you are an MIS major, this is the computer tools class to be in. VERY EASY class format, just do the assignments and show up to class once in a while and you'll pass the class with flying colors.

I thought he taught the class very well. He taught us only what we really needed to know in the future, wherever your field may be..it was all good information to know. I would definately recommend students to take him. Each student will take something from his course.

This class was fun, easy, and I learned a lot. If you show up to class there is no way you will not pass. His final is pretty easy as well because he provides many helpful handouts. Take his class you will be surprised at what you can learn.

Prof. Splane is such a nice person. He goes out of his way to help his students. If you miss a class, he lets you come in to the other sections he teaches. Class is only 6wks. pretty straightforward... I recommend taking BUS91L with him!

Never even took the class. Passed the SUPER EASY opt-out test. If you know basic word, excel, and powerpoint, you should opt out too. During the opt out test you can even use the web and help menu to figure out how to do some things you don't know.

Very nice guy and understanding of situations! Highly recommend just taking the class and not testing out as you learn lots of stuff if you are a beginning to semi-advanced Microsoft Office user. Do all of the assignments & you will have no problem passing. Gives straight forward directions on assignments. Helpful, clear & tries to make class fun.

Yeah what everyone else said. My statistics teacher (Carlo Di Carlo) was amazed that I actually knew how to use excel when we did lab work. I think he liked the pretty colors.

This class *is not* a waste of time. He wants people to learn the material, not just get a pass. I had to put together a Power Point one week after the end of this class and my project ROCKED! I could have done it before, but it wouldn't have had the right style and punch. Don't test out--just two hours a week for 5 weeks, and you really LEARN.

The class was easy and fun. The tools you learn in class can be used for other classes. Hw was easy and there was enough time to finish it and you even get a chance to fix it. The Final wasn't difficult because it was open book/notes/internet. I would recommend it to anyone.

If you know all the excel,powerpoint and word crap then you'll pass easy...plus he don't want no one to fail so don't trip...easy class and easy teacher

I failed the challenge exam because I thought I knew everything there is to know about excel, powerpoint, and word, but theres wayy more. It's not hard though. Just go to class and do the short assignments. You'll really learn a lot. Class is only 5 weeks long!

Great teacher! If you don't know Excel a whole lot then go to the class meetings. You learn a bit about Word and PowerPoint too, but the main focus is on Excel. The final exam is based upon all your homework and in-class learning of Excel.

great class! i came in not knowing too much about excel and powerpoint but i have learned a lot in 5 weeks. He is very nice and really helpful. Accepts late hw. If you dont get full credit for hw, you can redo for full points! i highly recommend this class!

This course is great. Teaches you everything you need to know about MS Word, Powerpoint, and Excel. Great professor. Very flexible office hours. Somewhat funny jokes too.

He is SOOOO nice and helpful! You have to go to class though, that's how you'll know how to do the homework assignments. The final is easy if you do all of your homework and understand it. He's really goofy and funny! I loved this class, it was easy and you actually learned stuff that could be useful.

EZ PROFESSOR. DO NOT TAKE ANYONE ELSE FOR 91L. Crystal clear and helpful. You learn the essentials from this guy and while there is HW, it's ez too. Best professor at SJSU... don't believe me, take his class. His teaching style lets you learn material and remember it so that you can use it later. His book is cheap too, ~$20.

hes a nice guy people say hes easy but it really depends how how well u know how to use micro/excel 07 for hw he only accepts 07 not 03. also for the final u have to pass with an 80% in order to recieve credit. 5 how assignment. the ppt hw was a lil hard but its an okay class however i didnt have 07 so i had to spend my time slaving at the lab

Dude, please test out of this class. I learned the Excel stuff in half an hour from the ten minute long youtube tutorial videos. Gimme a break, I took the test by myself as I saw the whole class leave because they thought it was too tough.

I attended 2 of the classes before taking the Challenge Exam, but I would have gladly attended the rest of the classes. This is one instructor who cares about his students and really wants them to learn the material. He welcomes questions and does not mind repeating examples. The book is really great, too! I am keeping it for future reference.

Very easy and if you understand the you can easily miss class if you understand the lecture using the textbook (which is a very helpful book btw). I also learned a lot from this class and I can definitely say that Excel doesn't seem so daunting after this class.

This guy is the real deal. For a person like myself who isn't very computer savy found this class to be awesome. Learn a lot about excel and his assignments are real easy. His book is one of the few books that I got my money's worth very instructive format. Thanks Mike.

He tells jokes before he starts his classes! He's super chill. If you don't show up to your regular class time, you can go to any of his other sections to make it up. Hw is straightforward from the textbook. It's usually about what he taught that day and it's always due the next week. Super nice and super chill. Take him!!!

He lets you crash his other lectures if you can't make it to your class time. He always gives you opportunities to make up points that you've missed. Final is open notes and book. He wants everyone to pass and manages to add humor into his lectures which is nice.

Easy A! Just go to class and listen to the lectures. His teaching style is similar to how a teacher teaches a workshop. Everything is crystal clear. And you always stay after class to ask him if you did the assignment right or email him and he will always respond. Don't be afraid of taking the CHALLENGE EXAM if you can.

You can take the challenge exam if you are good at excel. I didn't think this was an easy Pass. You have to get a B on the final to pass which was really stressful. I ended up getting 100% on the final but I still thought it was hard. HW was challenging as well. Its a great class because it is so relevant to business. I learned a lot.

Professor Splane was so amazing. I took his class over the summer. He was extremely helpful and just all around a nice person. I had trouble with the pivot tables on the homework and I told him that, so he ended up helping me on the final exam with that particular problem. Very independent class which has its perks like group members. Met some cool people in my concentration. Has helpful TAs and he was helpful himself. Overall, easy class, easy points, easy exam, easy pass.

Professor is lovable. He is always available whenever help is needed. Don't worry about failing because he will be there to assist you. He responds to emails almost immediately, even when past midnight or 1 a.m. I screwed my schedule, doing homeworks for another week for 1 month straight. I nontheless passed as soon as I communicated my issue! :D

91L is basically an Excel class. You will have step-by-step in class work and homework. Splane uses this as his primary teaching method. Approachable, helpful, and accommodating. Very kind and willing to help you out.

BUS 91L is a required course for business majors. Be sure to take it with him and learn the material presented as you need it for Finance courses as well as BUS 190 (quantitative analysis

Very unique class format, as we do the talking instead of him. It's more of us self-learning, with Splane as the one overseeing things. Big perk about this course is that the textbook is online, so it's practically clear cut. Mac users will have slight issues, but it can be worked around. If Mike's available to teach, then take his class!

Really good teacher, one of the best I have ever had! Joke of the day is awesome. Just put in a little work, he is very very helpful and understanding, never had an issue with submitting assignments a little late. I actually lost data on my computer and couldn't submit my homework, he genuinely felt sorry for me :p Very nice guy. Totally recommend.

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Mike is a wonderful guy and a great professor. Designed the entire course and materials himself with the students in mind. Essentially a self paced class. I actually learned a ton of great excel skills too! Imagine that, a course that is low stress, relatively easy, and where you learn valuable skills.

Prof Splane is the cutest professor ever. He really cares about you learning. He created all his assignments himself, and really wants students to get a good understanding so they have the most potential when they get out of college. Loved his class :-)

Go to class! Mike is very understanding so if you have conflicting responsibilities, talk to him. Takes late work. You can do assignments ahead of time and only show up to class for 15 minutes to get it checked. Encourages talking in class. Assignment grades based on whether you do them or not, not correctness. Allows internet usage/notes on exam.

Extremely chill. 2 weekly assignments, one in class, one for homework. He tells cheesy jokes every class and is super cool. It is a credit/no credit class and he grades mostly off of participation (completion of assignments). Very easy class with only a little bit of experience with excel.

1 classwork and 1 homework assignment is due each week. This class only meets once a week for 10 weeks so I think the work is fair and extremely easy. He wants all his students to pass. You have to sign in every class but you can leave as soon as you finish your classwork. Highly recommend!

Easiest teacher for this course. Barely any effort required and easy final. 2 Assignments a week, Group project, and Final. Take him for that easy pass on 91L

He is an incredibly caring professor and genuinely wants all of his students to pass. It's a credit/no credit class so it's really hard to fail unless you don't do any of the assignments. He believes in all of his students and is probably one of the sweetest professors at SJSU.

It was a good Excel class. I entered without knowing how to use Excel and this class helped a lot. You can complete your assignment at home and print a screenshot of a part of your work to turn in the next class. Attendance is taken every class. I learned a lot overall and I enjoyed this class!

He is honestly one of the sweetest people I have encountered. He is so kind and genuine and really cares about his students. The class is an easy A, and he is a very very good person.

Let's you work through the excel assignments as you need to at your own pace. the class is kind of set in a way that the assignments are online and you kinda just sit in class and work on them. He has like little sheets you turn in as proof of doing the work.

His class is fail proof! As long as you turn in all the excel assignments before the final you will be able to get full credit for them. That means you probably don't have to show up for the class. His assignments are very detailed which are meant to help you out. He tells a lot of jokes and is very sweet. Only a 10-week course!

Barely have to show up. Course is all online even though it is a class you show up to. Everything from tests and homework answers are all online. Easy 1 unit course

This was class was self-paced so it is up to you to finish the assignments or not. Overall, he was very accessible during class as he goes around and helps each student. The assignments can be very long and tedious at times so do not procrastinate the week before the final. This is a credit or no credit class but 40% of your grade is the final.

The group projects were really nice as an icebreaker to get to know classmates. We all picked our teams in the beginning of the semester. Mike really cared about his students and he was understanding with the struggles students faced. If you're an active learner I'd definitely recommend him. I respected him because he was opened for any questions.

Professor Splane is extremely helpful, in the sense that he is willing to help you one on one for anything you need help understanding. The homework may seem like a lot but it is definitely doable and you shouldn't have issues doing it. The final exam is also quite easy, and he allows internet usage on it. Professor Splane is a role model for teachers! His class is structured well with two assignments per week. He doesn't really care when you turn them in, as long as you turn them in before the final. He doesn't mind if you don't come to class as long as you turn in your assignments. Easy A as long as you do all the assignments. No quizzes, 1 final.

No textbook, since he made a website himself with info for us to learn Excel. Straightforward, all the work is online n he gives step by step on what to do. Every week you show him a CFU (check for understanding) for your homework where u fill out a small review paper (like 3q) for credit. You get a group on the first day to help each other out too

This class is a little more than 2 months so not the whole semester. Work is follow directions from a website he made to learn how to use Excel on a worksheet during class and a homework every week. Tiny quiz after each assignment but answers are on website. One group project. Assignments are really easy. Can leave early if assignments done early.

Dude, take him. Two assignments a week & quizzes with answers given. But more importantly, he has a heart. I did all the assignments and botched the final exam. (I did all of it but file didn't work). I did what anyone would do and email him 1000 times 3 (DAYS) after the due date. Next hour, He tells me Its okay and I passed. TAKE HIM.

His class is basically 2 Excel assignments a week for a CR/NC. Only a 10 week course. Pretty easy and predictable grading. The final is open to the internet and any notes. I really wish he would send out YouTube videos or Zoom meetings because the assignments are basically a super long list of instructions. It would be nice to form a connection.

BUS4-91 is manly taught by Splane. There's two excel assignments due every Sunday; no quizzes but a final of course. His instructions are very lengthy as the class was taught online. This class is a C/NC class so pretty easy. It says it's an synchronous class but he does not like zoom so you really don't meet. Easy class, and very considerate prof

SUPER EASY CLASS. Two assignments due on Sunday but you can do them all at once if you wished to. The assignments should take you no more than an hour to do and it is super manageable if you have a busy schedule. Just complete your work and you will pass.

In this class, the instruction are written on a website. You follow the instructions on your own excel sheet. No quizzes. There is a final but if you do all the extra credit assignments, you don't have to take it. He responds to email very quickly. It's a very straight forward class. Do the homework and you'll pass.

He's great and has the best stories. All instructions are very clearly given for each assignment and all you have to do is follow them to pass the class. 1-2 assignments a week. No quizzes. There's a final, but he gives you an option to do extra credit assignments to avoid the final. He grades assignments instantly. Class is super easy.

Since it's just a class about spreadsheets it's a little boring but it's a super easy class. Assignments are all posted on Canvas but make sure you are on track. If you submit an assignment within the due date but you did it wrong, he will give more attempts. For the final, just do the extra credit. It's easy.
