he's kinda out there but he was definately interesting. let us listen to music in class and knew what he was talking about. always had interesting things to add to the class and is very smart. was very helpful for the dissections

Pretty helpful in class. Had all sorts of weird, funny stories that in their own way related to the material. I took him over the summer, would highly suggest doing the same. Tests were not easy, but fair--he tested you on the important stuff not the nitty gritty. Would recomend taking summer class with him.

Took him last year, thought he was an awesome teacher and really easy. If you studied the tests were extremely easy especially not being a science person at all. He made class extremely interesting and you got to know him really well. Used powerpoint in class and showed a lot of videos but was a good class overall, liked him alot.

I loved this class. I took it over the summer and he made it really interesting with lots of examples and stories that relate to the material. If you study (not ridiculous amounts) you'll be fine. Had him for lab too, made what you need to know very clear.

He is a really helpful man but if you are not a good test taker stay away from him becuase his tests are extreamly hard and requires a lot of studying. Go to his office hours becuase that sometimes is the only way I would pass. Hard class overall

He was difficult at first, but once you figure out his grading style, lab reports are rather easy. Don't expect to always get out early, but occasionally. Labs are easy, get accurate information for lab reports. I recommend him if you really want to learn.

Professor Vieth is always harsly graded. I had him for lab and he was great. He really is passionate about Biology. He is a hard grader but if you go in to his office hours he will help you out!!

Very hard grader because he expects so much from you. However he's a great guy and will help with whatever it takes for his students to do well. He's pretty good at explaining everything and he loves what he does.

Really approachable and nice guy. I would recommend if you want to work hard to BIO101. I struggled to do well in his tests though

He has never given a 100% on his test. However, this is the most interesting class I have ever taken. He makes the subject cool, and I learned more about bio and random other stuff than with any other teacher :)

I loved Vieth. All questions on tests were covered in the powerpoints, which he put on blackboard, along with recordings of his lectures. His tests were mult. choice "application" questions and "memorize and regurgitate" short answers. If you study his powerpoints and complete homework assignments, the class is great. He got to know students.

I transferred from Quinnipiac and he is still in my mind as my one of my favorite professors I've had -- (I'm a senior now.) He makes lectures so interesting that the information sticks - and helps significantly during the end of the semester presentations. All around must-take professor, wish I had more opportunities to learn from him.

Vieth's tests are tough, you really have to understand the material in order to pass. He puts all his powerpoints and lecture recordings online, though and he is super willing to help you out. No extra credit, no curves - STUDYY!!

You probably won't like Veith until after you've had him, but he is a great teacher and cares about his students doing well. He is great in office hours and is a reasonable guy. He is also pretty funny in class and clearly has a good time.

Professor Vieth genuinely cares about his students. He's very open to helping his students out outside of class. He makes class fun by putting music on. The only negative side is that he's a tough grader. Make sure to let him look over your work before you submit it. Little things matter. Make sure you upload your work as a pdf file.

Professor Vieth is a super cool guy and is really chill in lab. He plays music and doesn't care how you complete the lab, just as long as you submit it in blackboard. Not many test and as long as you know the material from the labs you will be fine. He makes lab fun and enjoyable so I recommend taking him!

Took him for BIO 101L and then again this semester. Tests are tough and the lab reports you have to spend a lot of time on. However, super clear and very knowledgable. You actually learn and understand the material. As long as you put in the effort you will do well. Always willing to help, went to his office hours a lot and it helped a ton.

My favorite professor I have yet to have. Incredibly smart and well informed about everything he teaches plus more. Tests are definitely hard but he will shape you into a way smarter person. He is young and makes funny comments in class and always throws in a good story. I absolutely would recommend taking him.

Prof Vieth makes class interesting by giving weird examples and videos during lecture that help prepare you for the application style exams. In order to succeed in the class you have to study and ask him lots of questions, but he's a nice guy so it shouldn't be too difficult. Highly recommend his class if you want to learn biology!

If you're looking for someone who will make lectures engaging, while also challenging you to master the material, Vieth is the prof you're looking for. Tests are on the more difficult side, but after finishing the class, I definitely feel like I know the material covered. If you want to really know your stuff, there's no one to take but Vieth.

Prof. Vieth has been by far my favorite professor ever. Always understanding and there to help the students. I finished BIO150 w/ an A and now have an A in BIO151. He has helped me improve immensely. I always enjoy class, he makes everything fun and enjoyable. Will definitely make you laugh and keep you interested. Go to office hours or email him.

Professor Vieth is the best teacher that I have ever had. His tests are very hard just because they are very application heavy but i have learned more in this biology course than i ever had. He is always available for help and answers emails very quick. if you are debating on teachers for bio definitely go for vieth!!!!!!

Professor Vieth is definitely someone who cares about what he is teaching. That being said, don't expect to be able to coast through his class. He is known for his tough exams and tough grading criteria on other assignments. However, there are typically a few small assignments that are easy 100s. Make sure you do these and hand them in on time.

Vieth is a friendly, funny guy who wants nothing more than his students' success. Tests are difficult but studying his detailed powerpoints is key. Stickler for CSE references, but email him them before and he'll tell you if they're right. Very fair teacher with lots of assignments to help your grade. Favorite teacher at quinnipiac by far.

Professor Vieth is passionate about science. He is focused on the theory of evolution so he incorporates it where he can. He's funny but don't mistake that for being easy or lenient. He's strict to the syllabus rules. READ the book according to the syllabus. Tests are heavily application based. You will learn a lot, take him if you can!

Veith is a great teacher. He is always willing to help in office hours and if you email him you are likely to get a reply within 30 mins. He sets a lot of homework, however, if you do well on the online quizzes and revise them you will do well on his tests. He goes off topics in lecture, however, it is engaging. Be prepared to work hard.

Tests are on the harder side, but once you get the way he asks questions you will get it down solid. Material is portrayed in a very helpful way, and he helps with whatever you may need. He tries to engage each student and makes a ton of connections to real world examples and ways the material connects to the health major professions.

Vieth is a riot and fun to talk to, but man, is he finicky. I get scientific writing is meticulous, but I've never experienced such a discrepancy in difficulty btwn a Lecture and a Lab. He really makes you work for it. That said, he's a solid professor, and the attention to detail is appreciated. At least he has high expectations for his students.

Whoever says he is a tough grader is just lazy. 2 attempts for mastering bio quizzes and you can bullsh*t discussion boards and get 100. Nothing is ever a surprise in his class which is comforting. Vieth is a G. He tends to give a lot of assignments and is a harsh grader but all in all a stand up professor. He's extremely personable and gets to know his students well. He makes relationships and is always down to help a student out. He tells you when material is good to study and when it just extra information.

A questionable personality, but he knows that. Class is based mostly on homework (which is super easy) and tests (which are a bit harder than your average tests as they require critical thinking). There are also these PBLs which arent the hardest assignments, however, my group absolutely sucked and made it hell.

Based on a lot of homework, but lab reports and poster session are a huge part of your grade. Once you do the lab reports on time, you should be good. You can get additional help from the learning center, and he will help you with small things, but not the entirety of it. I loved lab and made me not dislike it as much as I did in high school.

Nice, smart, tough but clear grader. Keeps class interesting. If you follow directions you'll do fine. Seems intimidating sometimes but in reality he's really chill. Really great mentor during and after class ends. Opinionated but encourages debate. Take him if you can, he'll start your bio career off the right way.

Really good professor. Can be a bit harsh with grading, but he allows you to go back and argue if you believe you deserve a higher grade. Can develop really stimulating conversations with him about anything, and is always willing to help with anything.

Tough grader, but you can argue for points back. Genuinely cares about his students and will provide helpful feedback so you can improve. He also provides due dates well in advance.

Professor. Vieth is the best professor I have taken at this school. All the bad reviews are just people who did not put effort into the class. His exams are harder than other professors, and even higher level bio courses, but it prepares you for how to study and take an exam. Quickly replies to emails and gives great advice.

He is truly very caring, but he still follows the rules. He provides resources and good explanations, he also records all of his lectures for studying purposes. Professor Vieth is very sarcastic but this makes lectures more entertaining. He is a tough grader and his exams are hard but he truly wants the best for his students. You should find good study habits and put effort in specifically in this Course (BIO103) since its a lot of material in one semester, but he is always there to help if you need it and gives great feedback.

I had a lot of trouble with Prof Vieth in the beginning but ended up really enjoying his class. He does his best to accommodate students and is always available for his students to discuss exams, questions, etc. He is a very tough grader, and exams are not easy, but his personality makes up for it. He tends to get a bad rep for the exams but if you study for them you will be able to do good, for taking him as a first year student he helped set the standards of college (studying wise, work load) . He is a very organized and will get back to you very quick, Attendance is mandatory unless your dying.

151 is so much better than 150. Vieth makes it so easy to pass and there are hardly any assignments besides groupwork and pre/postlabs. He always responds to emails right away and will go over exams and assignments with you during office hours. he makes boring topics enjoyable, and I wish I could take him again.

You definitely do a good chunk of the learning on your own as he treats lectures as review for content you should've reviewed for homework. He did drone on often times about irrelevant topics but somehow managed to circle back to the subject at hand. I found it pretty interesting but I'm p sure I have ADHD.

Unique teaching style, just have to listen and take notes every day easy day-to-day classes. If you did not take AP Bio in high school you will struggle greatly, his tests are difficult and you need to study. That being said, he is super accessible outside of class and his Canvas page is organized. Take this class if you have good bio knowledge.

He is an amazing professor and gives you all material you need for the exams. There is a lot of assignments to do but they are helpful in the end. As long as you do the work you will be fine.

He was interesting...during lecture he would always go a little off topic but was very entertaining. The practice tests didn't really help me and his actual tests were pretty difficult with multiple choice and free response. He made the class enjoyable and is the teacher I probably felt most connected with. I think it was a good experience overall.
