doesnt take time to grade papers, suspect just jots down any grade
The easiest class possible. He's cool as ****.

I think he tries too hard sometimes. Sometimes class is irrelevent.
His tests arent THAT bad..just basically memorize the book..b/c he cant teach!
cool guy, really pointless material. try to get him if you have to take it.
from the book, nice but dry
He's cool until he grades the final presentations
Does evals, then becomes a nazi grader, and ruins your grade
Lost an A in class due to one 0 on a homework assignment, WHICH HE LOST!!!

BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD. TESTS ARE REDICULOUSLY AMBIGUOUS. BORING. NO POINT READING THE BOOK, YOU GET THE SAME GRADE ON THE TESTS. ONLINE QUIZES HELP SOMEWHAT
He is really easy! We just go over the powerpoint....you do have to go to class though cause he's a stickler for attendance!
Dry sense of humor. Teaches straight from powerpoint. Attendance is taken and counts as 10% of grade. Tests are a little ambigous. Skim chapters, and use the online quizzes, know the terms very well, because the questions can be confusing if you don't
Not the best professor for the job. Reads straight from powerpoint, isn't very clear on assignments, and I sometimes wonder if he actually knows this material himself...Only positive about this class is he doesn't take attendence
This is the worst teacher at JMU. Is a townie from the Burg and grades you on his opinions if he likes you or not. Don't take him!!!

I spent the whole semester doing the crosswords in the Breeze and making fun of how many bad jokes he makes every class. He actually got up to 42 one day. YIKES! By the way he looks like Milton from Office Space. Have you seen my stapler!
I have a weird feeling that this guy would hook up with my younger sister. I think he prolly has some **** hidden behind his desk. other than that, he's easy. out.
This guy is terrible, he reads right from powerpoints, tells you nothing of what is going to be on the test, and then still finds a way to pull some random info on the test that he never talked about. Plus he looks like a rat and makes awful jokes
He has this experimental form of teaching, it involves exposing students to new material on tests. He also likes putting two right answers with each question then deciding later which one will be right.Class test average 68, other section 91, enough said
By far the most awful teacher at JMU. The man has no idea what he's talking about and makes life a living HELL for the semester you have him. On top of that, you have to listen to his **** jokes everyday...
Extremely easy professor for this class. Take his night class (630-920) if you can-you'll be out by 715 every night. Tests aren't that bad and there's no participation grade.
I will get my money back if for some odd reason I'm put into any of his classes again. Very unclear of expectations and his tests are very ambiguous. Teaches by reading his Power point notes and is very antagonistic of students. Get him out of the syst
Don't take him. Class seems easy and he lets you out early but it's really not worth it because you will do bad on tests. They are ambiguous, not related to class, and he doesn't curve.
I slept through my final and he let me make it up, this guys AWESOME. I dont know why everyone has such bad things to say about him. He doesnt make this class the easiest but hes a nice man and very easy to talk to. Not to mention we get out early everyday.
Hmmmm......he sucks.
Wow, this guy is pretty much a little rat. He is unfair in grading on simple assignments. He makes the queerest jokes in class all the time which he thinks are hilarious. Would probably date a high schooler if he could. Very weird dude, oh yeah and he sucks.
What a BORING teacher. Reads his powerpoints, then makes you do stupid exercises. Also tells the dumbest jokes, and wonders why no one laughs. Tests are easy though...the only plus.
OMFG I got As on the tests and presentations, missed ONE class and I ended up getting B-... He favors certain people and he does not give fair grade for the participation... He's boring as hell too.. He does cancel few classes and let go early pretty often, but I seriously don't think it's worth it... He takes this class way too seriously...
Ok, I took hime for summer 487. He treats you like a senior. Look, he tries to be funny, give him credit. He's genuinely a nice guy and you can joke around with him and he won't take offense. Went into the class with serious dissapointment, but soon that changed after seeing what a nice dude he really is. Summer 487 was easy. I recommend him!!
Hes awesome. He really cares about connecting with students, the class is not hard. if you do bad its your own fault. he knows what its like to be a student. hes funny and hes definetly the man. Anyone who says mean stuff is crazy
nice guy, sometimes going to class seems pointless but attendance affects your grade. overall a pretty easy class to keep up with. there are a few tests, a paper, group project, and in class activities. oh and you get to watch clips of office space!!
tests are only worth 30% of your total grade. attendance policy. go over the slides and you'll be fine.
he is awesome, everyone in the class loves him... hes fun to joke around with, he is easy the course is easy, def take him
so organized, so funny, really cares about students, i would definetly recommend him, all you have to do is come to class.. my fav teacher

BSG is a pain, be sure you do well and not screw yourself. Class is pretty straight forward with ppts. Midterm and Final, the tests are from the test bank, so don't study the ppts, but study/read the book! He tries to be funny, but it grows on you. A reasonable grader and a nice guy. It should be an easy B.
Not a hard teacher, but your grades come from a few things, & the 2 tests are weighted a lot and are pretty hard, so if you are a bad test taker i do not recommend him. For the Business Strategy Game you compete against your classmates, so you can't earn a lot for that unless you come out in 1st or 2nd place.
He's great for the GBUS 160 class, it meets wednesday night 6:30 - 9:20 once a week but you'll be out by like 8:00 every time latest pretty much.. For writing assignments go to his office hours as he can be very helpful and you will get an A. As for tests, read the powerpoints and you'll be fine, tests are easy to get a B, hard to get an A, overal
not bad guy for gbus, but have heard horror stories from cob 300 and other business classes...def. take for gbus though!
Funny guy, tries to keep class involved. Some assignments seem pointless but he does a good job answering questions and helping during office hours. Amusing and not too hard of a teacher to take for gbus
Dont take his class ! he is not funny ! he is really hard on grading !
this dude has some of the most outrageous comments and corniest jokes ever, but they are pretty funny and entertaining. had him for weds 6:30-9:20, never stayed past 8ish. just do the work and you will be fine. i always did the homework right before class and almost always got an A. watch out for test #2 and all other tests, they can be tricky.
Fun guy. Harsh in Attendance/Participation, I had perfect attendance but still took a hit in points because of not participating enough for his liking. Come to class and participate and you should do find. I didn't even try and I still got a B!
Pretty nice guy. Makes corny or sexual jokes once in a while that will throw you off, but not a bad class, at all. Assignments and tests are extremely easy. He's a little tougher on grading group projects and presentations, though. Definitely take him, you'll get out of class early, guaranteed.
Prof. Yankey is a really cool guy. He is very funny and does his best to make a boring class interesting. His tests are very hard. Make sure you participate, because even if you have perfect attendance (like myself), you will take a hit on points if you do not voice your opinions. I would definitely advise one to take him.
He doesn't teach anything in class but still has a ridic strict attendance policy. Tests are way too hard and completely from the book. Unless you enjoy reading textbooks in your free time and listening to boring lectures, don't take him. I would never recommend him to anyone.
Take Yankey for the COB capstone. tests are hard and focus more on the textbook. just participate in class, case studies are easy, the simulation game is a pain in the ass. I got a B+ and didn't put much effort in. even though the tests are hard, everything else is pretty easy, also have a presentation on an overview of a company.
Yankey is the man... I don't know anyone in either of his sections that didn't like him. Sure his tests aren't a breeze and his attendance/participation grade is certainly no gimme, but he is fair. He is genuinely concerned with all of our futures and does his best to prepare us. He loves his job and makes class interesting. Take him!!
A great professor, a little corny, but he tries really hard to help his students learn and obviously loves what he does. He is the best professor I have had in business school and i would recommend him to anybody.
He makes it tougher than it needs to be. Cannot miss more than two classes. Very tough and unfair when it comes to grading participation. He is very biased, so get on his good side early. Presentations aren't bad, just don't get COB 300 for your presentation. (he used to teach it) and grades that one harshly. Tests aren't bad if you read the book
Yankey is a biases ****. He makes this class seem like it means a lot! I got a B in the class, but as the other person said don't get COB 300 for you project cause you'll do bad. Also get on his good side or your screwed! Cause apparently talking every day and showing up to every class gets you a 80 in participation.
This guy does not know how to teach. Attendance policy is ridiculous. 5 points off final grade if you miss more than 2 classes. Participation is worse. Show up to every class and speak at least once, that's an 80, or 4 points off final grade. On papers, he takes 10 points off one persons, and 2 off anothers, for the same mistake.
I have never taken the time in my entire college career to do one of these but Yankee was so awful that he deserves a piece of my mind. A GCOM part 2 class seemed like i was graded like a senior thesis. Dont get me started on his outrageous attendance policy. I wish i could give 0s on the review because he does not deserve those 1s. avoid this man
Yankey is, by far, the dumbest professor I have had so far. Very, very biased in grading. 20% of the grade is participation. Even if you go to and participate in every class, you will not get an A for participation unless he likes you. It is not a hard class, but Yankey is plain stupid. 90% of people with mustaches are stupid, and he has one!
He seemed tough for COB 202 from the reviews below, but hes the man for MGT 305. lets class out early most times, has a good sense of humor, and the class is pretty easy. High recommended.
Yankey is pretty cool. Very nice, pretty easy and understands our boredom. Do not take him if you are not comfortable speaking in front of others!
Yankey is pretty chill. He is a stickler on attendance, but don't be lazy and go to class. He grades extremely hard on participation points, so make sure you speak up. I don't like to speak up in class, but reading this stuff made me realize how vital it is. His tests aren't very hard either. Putting in some effort and speaking up = A
Really, really nice guy. Tries to make class as interesting as possible by throwing in corny jokes. Kind of a difficult grader for covering such basic material, but no one should get less than a B in his class. Come to class, and make sure you speak up! Participation is a huge part of your grade

Terrible teacher! Very biased grading and he's not helpful at all. The lectures are boring and his jokes were killing people. If you can, avoid this class.
I've had 8 different COB professors. 7 of them I would give a 9 or above out of a 10 point scale. Yankey deserves a 2. Awful teacher. Biased, with all that he does. Engages with people he likes and shuns the ones he feels he does not like. Overall theres many COB 202 professors who will make your life alot easier than Yankey will ever make yours.
Professor Yankey is a really nice guy who tries to make information relateable, and his lectures are great to listen to; however, he can grade arbitrarily and often not be extremely critical or offer ways to improve until after he's graded you down.
Yankey is the man. He understands the typical college students dilemma and is a very reasonable person. He tells you how to do every assignment and if you even half way follow the text book the midterm and final are not difficult. Most of the grade is determined through participation and final project .
As long as you really try and you make him feel like his class is important to you and you are really trying he'll love it. Raise your hand and give commentary on everything you can and you will pass. Participation is a third test grade
Yankey is such an underrated professor. If you take time to talk to him in office hours & make a point that you want to do well, he will help you get there. Make sure you are comfortable with participating in class - class is discussion-based. Be the 1st to volunteer for discussions and try not to miss any classes. Good choice for 202!
Really clear on what he expects from students. Realies heavily on group projects which can be good or bad depending what kind of people you have in your group (in my case, bad). Does a final group presentationproject which is easily worth a letter grade. He loves participation.
Yankey is possibly the nicest man ive ever met. He does expect you to participate but the subject matter is so easy that participation is not difficult
No idea why he has bad reviews, Yankey is awesome. He is super clear about what he expects, and the material is really easy. 2 tests and 1 presentation. The only annoying part is that you only have 2 free passes for absences for the semester, but other than that I have nothing bad to say. It was one of the few classes I looked forward too.
Group projects are a big deal. Make sure he knows who you are by the end of the first week and no joke try to answer as many questions as you can and volunteer in every class. He take participation seriously and if you don't talk you could end up with a 50% which is 10% of the grade. Tries to nit pick on the memos and letters
Great professor, all the assignments are straightforward and if you follow directions you'll get that A. Group presentation is big, be sure to wear a suit for it. Participation is extremely important. It's a discussion focused course so make sure he hears your voice a few times each class. You can probably manage w/o buying the textbook
TAKE HIM!! Professor Yankey is the best I could have asked for COB 202! Always in a good mood, his presentations are clear, his expectations for assignments are clear. In his class, you'll get grouped into teams, prepare to work in that team for the rest of the semester, with a big presentation at the very end. Theres fun activities he does.
MGT 305 online was the best. Every Friday he sends weekly round ups and explains what is due the following Friday. 2 discussion boards, 2 papers, and 2 online times exams. Not too bad for a 3 credit class. Very accessible and emails back quickly. 1 item per week.
Yankey is AWESOME! People will say his tests are too hard & I honestly thought so at first but then I actually learned how to study for them (read, go to class, make flashcards, etc)& they're not bad now. He gives 4 random 40 point assignments so you need to make sure you come to class. He's a funny guy and genuinely cares about you. TAKE HIM!!!!
this class is really not as easy of an A as everyone says, but yankey is a really great teacher. he genuinely cares about how people do and loves when students go to office hours. take him!!!!!
Seemed like an okay guy first. But then his in class assignments are graded off an invisible rubric he doesn't tell you about. Basically reads off powerpoint slides made by someone else and his humor is okay but get's old very fast after he keeps forcing it onto you. Not recommended by you'll survive him.
Prof. Yankey's corny sense of humor always made me enjoy class, even on Friday. He also used canvas well, and assignments were typically clear and not graded too harshly. I was glad I asked for guidance on my business memo. Exams do test textbook too not just lecture, but not hard to learn the vocab etc.. Definitely recommend.
Took this class online over the summer and it was the easiest class I have ever taken at JMU. Super simple assignments and tests are all online with lots of time. 100% would recommend.
I like him and his lectures make the class appear really easy but his exams are very difficult! Also, the simulation assignments are tricky and hurt your grade. Randomly assigns attendance and you NEED the book with access code. You'll have to pay VERY close attention in class to do well on his exams to get a good grade in the class.
Yankey is probably the laziest teacher I've ever had. All of his tests, slides and homeworks come from Pearson texts. He assigns these awful simulations by Pearson which don't help you learn and he mentions them ONCE during the whole semester. His tests come directly from the text, which he doesn't teach in class. Be prepared to teach yourself.
Professor Yankey cares about feedback and really counts on class participation. The course is straight out of Pearson curriculum so I just used the online study plan to study. You don't really need the text but it helped a lot with the terminology. The tests were harder than lecture made it seem. Attendance is mandatory with 3 skip days allowed.
Yankee isnt a horrible professor and he knows what hes talking about but the subject itslef is very dry. The lectures are very long and boring. 3 tests which come straight from PowerPoints/textbook if you actually study and stimulations which if you try will boost your grade. Attendance is worth a lot so dont miss more than 3 classes
Ateendance mandatory. 3 excused absences, miss a lot and he will administratively drop you. Read feedback for Simulations (second time will be a possible 100) Lessons are dry with forced corny jokes. And always makes comments when people walk out of class. Pop out assignments (4 total) grade boosters. Tests(learn vocabulary) use Pearson study tools
Yankey is such a sweet, down-to-Earth guy! He tells a lot of jokes and relates to the class during lectures. Class lectures are based off of PowerPoints, which are mostly related to the textbook. Read the textbook though, because the tests aren't as intuitive as the lecture content may seem. There is a group project that you will present in class.
He's a good person but his grading scale is terrible. Would enjoy his class a lot more if he lectured about what was actually on his exams
THIS IS THE BEST CLASS!!!! his information is clearly laid out, you can plan far in advance and know exactly what is expected of you. tests are clear, straight from the textbook, simulation homework, and simulation study guides. attendance is a big part of your grade but class goes by so fast and he always lets us out early! he is such a nice guy!!
I really like Yankey, he's like a funny uncle and is making dad jokes every class. The only thing that bothers me is his lectures/ppts are such common sense but the tests go into such depth. His concepts are so easy to understand but are tested in such hard ways. Easy A material but you'd have to realllllllly work for an A in this class
Had Yankey for a 7 week online course and he was a solid choice. Super straight forward and sent out weekly work summaries on what do to each week (really liked this, helped to keep me on track). There's no reason to be lost in this class or get a bad grade tbh
Professor Yankey genuinely cares about all of his students. If you show up and pay attention you will pass the class. Although it is a little lecture heavy, he still finds ways to make class more interesting. Highly recommend him!!
Prof. Yankey is a very good professor. Very lecture-heavy class but he knows it and tries to make it more enjoyable. There are several things you are graded by and it is pretty easy to get an A.
He's sexist and gives girls a lower grade on participation, even when I spoke way more than my male classmates. Total waste of time going in person to his lectures and could be done over zoom. Group project is easy. Prejudiced towards frat guys and does not wear his mask properly in class.
Dont miss 1 of the very few assignments, this professor doesnt accept ANY late work no matter the circumstance and will not work with you.
Best 202 teacher out there. Called him Yankbeast because he was so great def would take again. Very understanding and makes some great jokes.
Seems like a nice guy, but he really isn't a good professor. The lectures are so boring and he always makes really awkward jokes. He favors athletes. The info in class seems like common sense but the exams are actually kind of hard. You have to read the textbook. If you have other options, don't take him but he's not the worst ever.
Prof. Yankey is one of my favorite professors so far at JMU. He's charismatic and loves his job more than most. 202 material can be dry and he knows that, so he tries his best to make it engaging. Group work is used throughout, especially for the ending presentation. Overall great guy who makes the class easier/more fun than other 202 professors.
Yankey is fun and funny. I wouldn't say the class is hard just harder than the common sense lectures make it seem so read the text book. Takes attendance and participation seriously so do that.
I loved Professor Yankey for 202. His lectures were entertaining and informative and I looked forward to going to his class early in the morning. 100% would recommend. Definitely participate and make sure to study for tests (during class is easy, but tests can be a little more tough- still manageable, but studying online modules is helpful)
Yankey is a nice guy, lectures were fine you can only miss three. Makes jokes half the class and usually they are dry but somewhat funny. The information is so easy but for some reason the exams are extremely hard and worded weird. He is a pretty solid choice
3 tests, 5 hw, only 3 absences, just a normal class. nothing crazy. lets you out early on Fridays. thought the course was pretty straightforward and self explanatory. what you'd expect. heard he's easier than other classes, dad jokes. not bad at all and will prob take again cause its not super easy but I was never stressed about this class.
Yankey is a great professor. He really cares about his students and class is super easy. Its graded on simulations, a presentation, and the midterm and final. The presentation is 30 minutes so be prepared, but it's really not bad. Overall, this was one of my favorite classes and others often said the same. Yankey is great and you should take him!
Professor Yankey is an okay choice. He tells a lot of jokes and is very caring about his students. Attendance is mandatory for his class and you lose a lot of points if you don't show up. He also really asks for participation and you are graded harshly on that as well. Overall, he's not a bad choice if you need to take him.
Professor Yankey's class has been my least favorite this semester. His lectures are boring, and he is very awkward. He has the strictest attendance policy. Allowed 3 unexcused, and everyone after that was 25 points off your attendance grade. It was an 8 am too, so it was very unreasonable. Literally the worst.
I really liked Professor Yankey's class! He was really funny and made class interesting. All he really asks is that students show up to class. His tests were pretty straightforward and related to the material he taught in class so it shouldn't be hard to do well. I really recommend taking him!
Hard A easy B put in effort studying for the exams. Don't miss more than 3 classes, and do the homework.
I really enjoyed the class. It was a 7-week online course. If you keep up with readings and put in effort for both the assignments and the exams, I don't think that getting an A or B will be too hard. He provided a lot of feedback and had a quick response time when it came to email. I would definitely recommend his class.
Professor Yankey is an excellent choice. Very caring, and humorous. Tries to make the class open conversations, not so much lectures. Has few grades but not terrible. There's a group presentation that has to be 30 mins. Be prepared. Grades hard on participation in class. Don't be afraid to talk, it can be irrelevant for all he cares.
I really enjoyed this class, he had a clear way of explaining all topics however his exams were very hard. He has a very strict attendance policy so definitely go to class. Graded on 6 group assignments, 2 exams (midterm and final) and a group presentation.
Failed me on the last day of class because I had reached the 7 day absences limit, but I had a stomach virus and provided doctors notes and emailed on the same day. He ignored my emails for 4 days, I had a 89 in the class up to this point and asked him earlier about my absences, he said I had at least 1 or 2 more classes I could miss.
He is a tough grades but a nice professor
I had him for the ADP MGT 305, and while I didn't love his instructions for papers, I felt he was a fair grader. I turned in a subpar paper and he called me on, as he should have. My only real complaint is assignments are due at 12:30 on Friday, but he is quick to grade and gives feedback.
Absolutely loved this class!! Textbooks aren't required because he goes over the textbook notes as the lectures. He understands that this isn't the most fun class but he trys to make it fun. He does crack a lot of bad jokes. Only 2 tests, 6 exercises, a reflection paper, a current event presentation. You have 3 excused absents for the semester.
Great guy, clear and concise. 202 is easier than other business classes, but you have to SHOW UP. Attendance and participation matter, so take this during midday is your best option. Tests are just like slides, presentations are straight forward, go first for them. It is not a hard class, just show up, do the work, and you'll do well.
Yankey is a nice guy and means well, but his lectures are very boring and do not add much value beyond what is on the slides. Attendance is very strict with only 2 allowed absences. He also makes the tests much harder than they need to be
SO strict on attendance. Other professors for this class quite literally hand out As.
Compared to all other 202 classes this particular professor decided to take it upon himself to make the class 10x harder than it needs to be. He is a great professor but the way he has his grading structured should be a crime. All the other teachers make the class very easy and he makes it unfeasible to obtain 100's on his tests and projects.
HORRIBLE professor. Doesn't post rubrics or anything on canvas and won't fix his own mistakes because "it's adds more to my grading load". He's just lazy. Told us that the notes in class are just "The skeleton. They won't help you very much. All exam material is from the textbook". Yet attendance is mandatory...make it make sense.
Mr Yankey makes lectures interesting with his hilarious jokes but if you miss more then 2 classes it will effect your grade. If you pay attention to his lecture slides which are also on canvas you can pass the class easy. Very down to earth guy and everything you would expect from a JMU Alum professor.
DO NOT TAKE THIS GUY!! This class is supposed to be an easy A, but Yankey makes it very difficult to achieve that. Attendance is very important as you can only miss two classes, when I had a valid reason to skip a third class, he told me to "get drunk and not worry about it for a while." This third absence dropped my grade 25 points. just don't!!!
The people who score him low dont show up to class lol. He is brutal on the attendance, you really do need to work for it, not only being in class but being active as well. His tests are more hard than they should be, especially for an "easy A" class, but if you show up and read the book he's not bad. He tells a lot of jokes thoughnot good ones lol
Professor Yankey's class was engaging and manageable. With a focus on in-class material over textbooks, paired with helpful study tools like unstuckstudy, I was able to do well. Just be sure to attend regularly.
If you don't go to class, you will fail. After you have more the 2 absences, he starts taking significant points off of your grade. If you don't participate in class, you will not get a good grade. He makes uncomfortable jokes that unsettle everyone in the class. The material itself isn't hard, but I would highly suggest avoiding his class.
Really chill class. Case studies and presentations are easy. Study for the tests as they are closely related to the textbook and not all the material is covered in class. Do NOT skip class as attendance imperative to your grade. If you have perfect attendance and do well on projects u can get 70s on exams and get an B+, Good choice.
Super sweet guy but his tests are way harder than they should be. He goes over the slides in class but then says they're just an “outline of the readings” which are also unnecessarily long for an easy A class. The way he words his test questions make it super difficult to get a good grade. Attendance is a huge part of your grade you HAVE to show up
Poor communication and lack of engagement made the class frustrating. Questions were met with curt replies, discouraging meaningful learning. Lecture slides were disorganized and poorly presented. Despite relevant content, the instructional approach made it hard to get real value from the course
The lectures are extremely boring and if you miss more than 2 classes you lose 2.5% of your grade, the grading rubrics aren't helpful for the presentations, but the writing assignments are easy. The tests are difficult cause you have to remember hundreds of definitions and how they apply to anything.
After 2 absences, your grade drops; 7 absences and he removes you from the course. Grading is strict, but participation matters. He's approachable and open to questions, encourages challenges to the material, lectures directly from slides, and does not allow electronics in class (write notes) The syllabus is exactly what the semester will be like.
This class was great overall. The group projects all went well for me and he was pretty lenient with the grading. The only thing I felt was a bit over the top was the midterm. Prof. Yankey is super nice and he truly cares about everyone in the class and their success. I do really think he deserves a better score than what he has.
I would not recommend this professor for COB202. Yankey makes his class harder then COB291, with not actually teaching anything in class for the midterm or final. All midterm and final material are from the book which he does not discuss in class. 90% of class is him calling on students to hear random stories and not actually teach anything.
