shes a cute fox and an excellent teacher.
Sumitomo is very dedicated. Her expectations of her students are high though, so be prepared to work hard to keep up (or drown). Her unending supply of handouts are very helpful, if a bit heavy at the end of the semester.
she's a good teacher, cute and funny.
she is great japanese teacher...
awesome~she's a great teacher..her speech isn;t so fluent though...take her if u reli wanna learn japanese....she always makes sure wt u have learnt ...wonderful~
Cool teacher! I certainly enjoyed her class. This was a fun class...wasn't that hard.
I love her!!!!!!!!!!!!.. she's so cute.. ^^;... She knows and can teach Japanese Grammar very well.. (my previous teacher knew also, but could not explain to us T_T) her japanese accent is very cute.. hehehe
she's thorough. gives a lot of worksheets to help you. cute. class is usually fun.
coolest teacher i ever met at pcc.. but if u dont study` u;ll not pass this class~
She is very moody and impatience.
SHE IS VERY NICE, HER CLASS IS VERY EASY IF U DO WHAT SHE SAYS. SHE IS VERY NICE, BE NICE TO HER. AFTER I TOOK HER CLASS, I JUST LOVE JAPANESE.
I adored her. She is very soft spoken though. With any language class, there is a lot of workbooks and handouts. One time I didn't do too well on my quiz and she asked me if everything was ok. She cares if her students do well or not.

I will only study japanese with her at this school! She is an excellent teacher! I am waiting for the next time she teaches 4 so I can take it!!

She is a cute and nice teacher. It is not a difficlt class. EASY A~~~~~~!!!!!!!!!
Students either love her or they hate her.. Seriously! She's not a good teacher and here is why. She has a bad accent, hard to understand, poor teaching methods, no confidence to lead the class, teaches useless Japanese instead of essential Japanese!
she's the nicest teacher when you get to know her and put in alot of effort. just keep the cell phone off and don't talk too much, and you'll do fine. hyou have to keep up with the class and study what she tells you-you'll get an A.
oh my god, sumitomo can give person "cute" attacks if you know what i mean. She is by far the cutests teacher ever in existance, and also teaches very well. But man, be warned, if your a guy who likes cute people, dont take her unless u want to get sucked into Miki's world of super cuteness.
Did not like this teacher at all. We did not see eye to eye from the start. she is unorganized. If you have a problem she will not answer your questions, she just tells you to review. I am very passionate about studying Japanese and she tried to suck that passion out of me.
Took her for 4 semesters. It was pretty fun. I did not try my best and still end up with a B. Her test are straight from the examples she gives in class. If you study the example, you should at least get a B. Spend some time on it, an A.
I took Sumitomo sensei for japanese 1-4 and never had a single problem with her. She always answered students questions, was very patient, very sweet, and super cute. I really dont understand how anyone can have problems with this teacher. It is not very difficult to get an A in her class.
Teacher is great! If you're passionate about taking Japanese, she'll get you into it. Doesn't favor her students, she didnt like me and gave me a B. Just volunteer alot. The only thing disturbing about the class were the creepy, ****ed boys. They are the abject failures of human beings.
Sumitomo is a great teacher! She is adorable when she can't express her thoughts in english. Gave out study guides for tests, helped ALOT! Great class, but some students creamed themselves over her, and it was annoying. Overall, show interest, study, you'll get an A. I did :D
Well she's a nice lady. Horrible teacher. Wastes time on handouts while not covering the chapters at all. Has very bad english skills and speaks in japanese too quick to understand. She's probably ok for Jap 1 but anything after avoid. Oh ya and the fanboys. Get a life guys she's not that cute.
Can explain Japanese grammar better than any other Japanese teacher I have had. Explaining then grammar of your native language to a non-native speaker is REALLY hard, but she is excellent. I recommend her to anyone. Excellent teacher. BUT you must study your kanji!
Cute Teacher.......test is not hard....
easy. test/quiz questions exactly same as study guide she hands out before the test. 70% of class time devoted to partner work.
とてもかわいい先生ぞ!!
I have taken her classes three consecutive semesters. She might seem cold at first, but as you get to know her, you'll see that she is fair, clear, enthusiastic, humorous, and caring! Ask lots of questions, and try to get to know Japan along with Japanese. Best teacher EVER!! (BTW, u will never find out her birthday, so dont ask)
Awesome! I took this class before and got a D. She makes Japanese grammar actually comprehensable. I passed her class with an A. She is very motivating, very sweet, and very helpful.
she teaches very well.learn lot. teach untill u understand. trying hard speakong in english. nice and good teacher. explain the conjugation well.
Excellent, excellent instructor. Comes off as intimidating at times, but she is a great teacher and you will learn the Japanese language with her. I think she is very hard, mainly from the kanji, but its similar to taking a Japanese class in Japan. You learn a lot about cultural and historical influences as well. I really reccomend her to anybody.
cute and good teacher, test is not hard.
She's ok
Follow her rules u'll be fine, & if happen with some funny guys in ur class that would be perfect! Coz she is really funny too. Especially when she explains Kanji & couldn't explain those wierd asked by native students! Take her & enjoy learning J! I regred i had never won a Kitty Chan empitsu in her class~
Good teacher.
She makes learning the language fun, although she can be strict at times. Lots of quizzes and exams, but it makes sure that you're studying. Lots of homework too.
You want an A? Take her class. Helpful and clear on lectures. She has accent, but I understand everything that she says. If you don't understand, ASK! She will explain it to you. And plus if you don't understand, you should consider taking other foreign language class. She gives you review for tests/quiz. So far I have got A's on all tests/quizzes.
Very good teacher. Class was alot of fun. Very helpful and full of discussion with students. All you need to do is practice. She is very patient. Best Japanese teacher I've ever had.
I bet she is an A+ instructor . . in her native language though. class was fun overall, lots of reading/homework. needs to improve spoken english a great deal; constantly ran out of words and a few times was unable to answer questions altogether. would be awesome instructor if she could explain things in english better.
Great teacher! The class is tough and to do well, it requires practicing, taking good notes, doing the h/w, and going to class. She is very helpful and will work with you. Jpn3 contains a lot more kanji/vocab-seems impossible but hang in there-it all works out. A very enjoyable class. Definitely worth your time to review materials during breaks.
she is a very nice lady. not really hard to get an A in her class. tests are easy, she tells you whats going to be on the test, so STUDY! wish to take her again in the future
i don't get why there are people complaining about her. She's a very sweet lady. And although she has accent when speaking english, but that doesn't impose any problem in her teaching. You will learn from her if you are willing to learn.
She is an organized teacher who is very fair and always willing to help and answer questions. She's not strict, but she will get mad if you just fool around like an idiot. She's cute and it was a pleasure to be in her class. She grades fair too. :)
THIS CLASS WAS HARD...YES SHE IS A NICE TEACHER AND SHE WANTS TO HELP BUT I DON THINK SHE KNOWS HOW. COMMUNICATION IS DIFF. TO UNDERSTAND. SHE IS SUPPER FAST IN TEACHING JAP1 WHICH MAKES IT HARD TO APPRECIATE AND UBSORB THE MATERIAL.
Japanese 3 was so fun! If you PAY ATTENTION in class and the class activities and do hw YOU'LL DO FINE. She's very approachable and friendly. there's no pop quiz questions!I plan to take jap 4 from her too! GREAAAAAT TEACHER!
Very nice and easy teacher. Very cute. Don't worry about her accent as u'll get used to it very soon. Strongly recommand her.
MIKI NO PUREZENTO DA.
Sumitomo rocks!!!!!!!!! She's very very helpful and always smiling, always wanting to take questions and yes her accent might be difficult to understand sometimes but like some said, you'll get used to it no problem by 1 week. Yeah she's cute. DO NOT CHEAT ON ANYTHING OR SHE'LL GET SUPER DUPER MAD AND YOU WILL MOST LIKELY GET AUTOMATICALLY DROPPED!
I had little motivation to show up to class after a while. All you do is read straight from the book and have discussion about it in class. She is adorable, but not very clear or helpful. She's just okay.
She's very orderly. I recommend taking her class if you don't have any Japanese friends to practice with; her classes are very repetitious so you're going to have Japanese in the head. *ahem* She's an interesting person; when there's time, she'll use her life for examples and use manga. You have to study A LOT or you'll be called out during class..
Had an awesome time in her class.
She was a really good teacher I have ever seen in PCC. There is a lot of fun in her class. Fair grading, clearing explanations, and caring are all the benefits that her students achieved in her class. Also, her tests came from the homework and study guide. If you study, you will get good grade.
Sumitomo was fun and she is very helpful. Don't be afraid to ask questions! She gives you plenty of chances to ask, if you don't understand the material.
Dr. Sumitomo is a really interesting and cute professor in PCC. Her class is full of fun, and is really easy. All the tests come from the Course Reader and study guide. What you need to do is to read and study it, and then you will get a good grade.
I love her class. I find it really easy. She'll give you a hand out before the teach. It'll basically tell you what to study. If you study that handout there's no reason for you to actually fail the class. You should study hard for this class because you'll be call up to do stuff on the board.
Cute, nice, easy-going. Doesn't trick you on exams. If you study, there is no excuse not to get an A.
I took her Japanese 1 class last winter and finally got an A. If you have memorized all the Japanese Hiragana and Katagana (Sorry, I forget how to spell it), which are the Japanese characters. Definitely you will get an A with ease. Believe me. Take it!
If you don't understand by the first two weeks what do in the class your screwed, she confused me when I tried to catch up. If you want to take this class study hard and you will be fine,oh and she is really cute by the way
A very cute and sweet lady in PCC. The voice is sweet even though there is the accent when she speaks English. When you have questions, just ask her directly. The course reader is necessary because all questions in test is based on that. Easy A if you sttuggle, expect to take Japanese 4 with her.
She is not as "hot" as her fan boys say! And she's confusing & crazy! This is my 1st ever Incomplete! Don't take her!
Sumitomo-sensei has many qualities she brings to class. Her teaching methods are really helpful. Jap3 class is engaging, which is a beneficial aspect to learning the language. She is adorable, nice, and funny. Her tests are also a nice feature, no trickery. Be a good student to her,put effort in class, etc. dont disappoint me people ! !
Sumitomo is a professional. One of the best at PCC. She is so flawless in what she does.
Sumitomo is a wonderful teacher. She puts forth the effort to fully explain each subject before moving on to the next subject. The content can be a bit frustrating at time, as is learning any language, and her humor helps to lighten the load. Ask and she'll help. She had trouble explaining some Kanji. Course-reader is over-rated & confusing.
Took JAPN 10 (Japanese Civilization) online over the summer. Maybe it was because it was a summer course but there was a TON of homework. Be prepared to read a LOT too. Overall though she's an easy grader. Do the work, get an A. Just be prepared to spend a lot of time reading & completing assignments.
She's very funny at times and she does have an accent. Sometimes its hard to understand her, but she tries her best. If you don't get something, make sure you ask. Everyday there will be hwk and testquizzes. Her tests are really easy, just study everything that she gives you. Overall, she's a pretty good professor. I would take it again.
She makes class enjoyable and makes the subject matter approachable. She doesn't really "lecture" in a traditional sense, she mixes them up with assignments that most of the time you can work in groups with (explanation then application). Tests are pretty much the homework, she will tell you what is on the test. Easy if you do the work.
She's one of the best professors I have had. Her class is entertaining, her lectures are interesting, and her homeworktests are easy. She doesn't make learning Japanese intimidating, instead she makes it fun. There is a lot of group work during class, and she will answer any questions you may have. She is awesome, and I would take her again.
She was a really kawaii and kind teacher. You can absolutely get an A if you finish your homework. Just don't feel annoyed about her English. Take her!
I like Sumitomo! However, do NOT take her online course. So much more difficult than a regular on-campus class. It's important to speak face to face with her if you need help understanding sentence structure. Overall, super sweet professor. She is pretty strict with homework, but nothing too crazy. Take her class!
DON'T TAKE JAPANESE ONLINE CLASS IN THE SUMMER.
Professor Sumitomo is a strict teacher. She is serious about everything. A lot of in-class discussion and a lot of in-class quizzes. If you wanna get a A, you need to put effort on it! Read a lot and practice a lot! BTW textbook is mandatory since all the homework is on your textbook.
She is very passionate about teaching and seems to enjoy it. She moves at a quick pace, so you have to pay attention in her class. She is also pretty funny too, which I think helps keep us engaged in the class. She gives either a quiz or test every class, and does not use canvas or lancerpoint so I didn't know my grade till after the midterm.
She has a sarcastic sense of humor which is hilarious! I honestly didn't use the textbook AT ALL, but you NEED the two workbooks! Buy those! She has homework almost after every class, maybe one test every week. As long as you pay attention in class and do HW, you will pass. Easy. DON'T use your phone in class. She HATES that & will drop you!
Beware of poor English skills. Maybe this doesn't matter so much in a Japanese class, but it's really hard in a Linguistics class because understanding the gobbledegook in the textbook is hard enough, but add trying to understand HER on top of it and kiss your brain goodbye. She doesn't explain, or if she does she does it very poorly.
BEWARE her voice is so soft and she has a thick accent. Goes really fast and expects you to devote your entire hours of the day studying. Which you'd probably need to, Japanese is hard and she makes it harder. Miss a day and you're most likely doomed. Quizzes and tests VERY frequently. Had to drop when we started learning Kanji :(
Sumitomo-sensei is a great Japanese professor. It may take some time to get used to her accent, but she explains things really well. As long as you pay attention to the lecture, do the homework, and study a bit, you should be fine. She's also pretty approachable if you need help.
The accent gets in the way sometimes, sure, but the tests are multiple choice and easy if you take notes during lecture. Be prepared for lots of homework and a group project.
She is nice. Has a somewhat sarcastic sense of humor. There are a lot of tests and quizzes. You are gonna need a buddy in class because there are a bunch of partner assignments. You'll learn.
At first, she seemed very nice, but don't be fooled by her fake smile. She is a very very tough grader. If you took her class, she would try to find every single of your mistake like a lunatic, and then deduct quizzes and tests points. While taking her class, I was stressed out. DON'T TAKE HER. If so, you must regret for that.
It was JAPANESE 001 class which is an elementary Japanese class, but the class was considerably hard. In particular, as time went by, we faced extremely difficult materials. My Japanese friend also said this class looked really difficult to foreigners who begin to learn Japanese. Quizzes were ok, but midterm and final were hell.
Learning foreign languages is always difficult regardless of what the language is. Personally, I think Sumitomo doesn't consider this fact. She tries to teach hard and give as much knowledge as possible. Unfortunately, I couldn't get it well because she taught quite difficult things. She also was a tough grader.
Sumitomo tries to help students, but I don't think she is recommendable. She is just so so in light of other factors like homework, difficulty, and rigorousness. According to what my friends who took other Japanese classes said, they were easy to get good grades. However, it is not the case for her. Her class is clearly more difficult than others'.
The class has lots of partner work and mainly consists of reading from the textbook, listening to lecture, and working on the "Course Reader". The homework load is definitely doable, and taking notes/listening makes is necessary. Make sure you get every particle/stroke correct; she grades tough. If you aren't dedicated, don't take this class.
Warning: DON'T TAKE HER OFF-LINE CLASS....... A lot of assignments will be waiting for you... In addition, as she is a typically tough grader, off-line class would be really challenging to everyone. However, her on-line class is super easy according to my friends who took her on-line class.
I took her for Japanese 3. Before taking this class I was able to skip Japanese 1 + 2 because of lots of self-studying. I personally found this class to be not too difficult. Its a foreign language that requires LOTS of studying. If you don't like studying or doing homework, don't expect to get a good grade. She made takoyaki for our class before.
Regular class is pretty challenging, and she will make you work hard. Withouth putting your extreme effort into this class, you shouldn't expect to get an A. On the contrary to regular class, online class would be pretty easy because you can use various translation applications.
Personally I love sumitomo. I can easily understand every lesson and the homework load is about 2-3 work book pages per class. There is a lot to remember in this class and you do actually have to study for it. But if you want to build a solid foundation for learning Japanese in the future and is willing to put in effort, this class if worth it.
If you are compelled to take her for Japanese langauge course, the best option would be taking her online course, not offline course. This is because online course is much easier than offline course. There is just a little homework in the case of her online course. Not only that, the difficulty of tests taken in online course is much easier.
This was probably one of the most challenging online courses I took. (Also because it was 6 weeks) . Do all the work, it's very helpful. Tests are hard because they are timed and you have a written portion that you have to scan and upload, then speaking portion that you have to video record and upload. Take this class if you really want to learn
Do not take this class. I warn you
Do not believe in good evaluation of this professor. Emotional and non-standard teacher. Her pronunciation is also irritating. xxxxx
Her online course is quite easy to get an A. It is waste of your time to put much effort into this course because not only tests ask really basic concepts but also you can use translation application. Of course, she says do not use translation application, but just ignore it. She doesn't know whether you use it.
Worst professor. She is terrible, awful, horrible.
It was the biggest mistake of my life to take classes like garbage.
Gooooooooooood. class. you can take this class. If you want improve your Japanese !
I've taken 2 classes from this professor, (JAPN2 & 3). I was looking to take more, but unfortunately she does not teach 4 and above. She is one of my favorite teachers and her teaching method is very straightforward and fair. If you put in the work, you will be rewarded. Learning a language can be hard, but Sumitomo makes this process a breeze.
Lot's of work. The way she teaches too is also not efficient. I took her for japanese 1 and got a B, but her japanese 2 class is a lot harder. Our class in Japanese 1 did not manage to learn Kanji efficiently
If you are looking for a very easy-A class, take her online class. Unlike her offline class, her online class is super easy peasy. If you fail to get an A from her online course, you should give up being a human. EASY PEASY LEMON SQUEEZY CLASS!
I dont recommend after taking her in the summer. Too much homework and her workbook didnt help much. I had to drop the class for a withdrawal.
Took her 1 last semester, and decided to take her 2. Her class was challenging, but generally not too hard if you work for it. With her, you actually learn stuff, even though in a fast pace, it helps you if you really want to learn the language. Love her!!!
I really recommend people not taking her Japanese civilization class! The online schedule is so heavy which she requires people to spend 3+hours everyday on homework and classwork! Lots of daily discussions and assignments! Definitely not an easy A!
pre-lockdown rating: Despite the negative reviews, if you have a good grasp on the language this class is doable. Downside is she doesn't like the use of laptops in class for notes, and not big on turning in late work. Tells you what's going to be on the tests/quizzes. Not exactly an easy A, but if you read the book well you're all set.
Quite good. A lot of interactions in her class. She is a hilarious person too.
I was in Sumitomo-sensei's Japanese 2-4. She's fun and engaging so the class atmosphere is always vibrant. You'll be expected to participate in class quite a bit. Don't use your phone even for dictionary, I got caught with my phone a few times lol. Her tests are grammar heavy, so be sure to memorize grammar rules and sentence structures.
If youre lazy kind of student, dont bother. Shell make you work hard, and read a lot, and learn. But thats her strength shes an excellent instructor for those who really want to improve, and once youre enrolled Into her class, youll walk out better prepared, more educated person, thats for sure. I highly recommend to take classes from her
SO MUCH READING. For only 3 units it is unnecessarily dense. All the answers are apparently in the textbook, but for a lot of the questions, you really have to read between the lines to get the answers. Multiple attempts are allowed on the tests, only 1 attempt allowed on final exam. I'm a straight-A student, but this course was VERY difficult
Took her online in summer over a six week period. Her class is bassicly a lot of busy work. It's not hard most of the time, but a lot. She does let you take the test 3 times which lets you see what you got wrong and do better. The answers are most of the time in the book, but sometimes it will be easier to google something. Not bad but not good.
I am taking her online class but she cannot do tech at all. For some reason, she expects you to submit your assignment a certain way and it's super annoying. When a problem comes up, good luck. She is not going to try and help you at all. Also, as an online course without a textbook, she has slides but they are all singled out!!
The worst professor ever in Japanese department. She disrespects students. She doesnt help students needs at all. The way she teaches Japanese is really bad. Now I see why Students are struggling with Japanese class in her class. Her explanation about Japanese Language isnt enough at all. Also, I ts hard to understand with her heavy accent.
I do not recommend her class at all. Her lack of teaching skills, English skills. She might be okay for JPN 4 or up, but not for beginners. Exams are heavily based on HW, which is too much.
Professor Sumitomo is such a great teacher. It's just clicked for me! I literally learn by the minute. I highly recommend her.
Took Japanese conversation with her, and loved it. I look forward to my further classes with this professor.
Professor Sumitomo is a very nice teacher as long as you do your work and not slack off. I would recommend getting a couple of classmates to work on projects and tests to study for. I will say she is strict and you have to pay attention because participation counts. Still mad I didn't get an A and ended with a 88.7% but life goes on.
DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS IF YOU WANT TO LEARN JAPANESE! She is rude when it comes to learning and expects beginners to know everything. She wants you to turn in assignments at the time class starts and posts the homework late ruining classmates sleep schedules. She does not give you enough time for test's and quiz's. Never again. worst experience.
This is my first time taking Miki Senseis class. She is a nice person, but she is not very good at English; so sometimes she seems rude. Also, she is not really a good explainer, she really depends on her sense of Japanese to explain. If you want to get a good grade on her class, remember to make yourself ready in JAPANESE.
It was truly amazing to study Japanese literature, although in translation, from a native Japanese professor! Professor Sumitomo is very knowledgeable and genuinely wants you to understand the material. This is once in a lifetime opportunity.
Professor Sumitomo clearly cares about teaching, and if you come to class with interest and enthusiasm you will do well. There is a good deal of homework, as all language courses should have. You can't learn a language if you don't practice it a lot, and Prof. Sumitomo will help you practice correctly and effectively. Just show up and do your best.
I loved Sumitomo she is such a great Japanese teacher, she gives lots of homework but its all necessary to learn she is very helpful and wants you to succeed You will have 2-3 tests where you have to speech in japanese and she gives really good feedback on all assignments. She's so good at explaining everything Participation is mandatory for credit
this is my second class with her and i plan to take her classes up to Japanese 4! engaging, kind, and does her best to help everyone learn. there's homework every day due at the start of class, but it's usually just a few worksheets from her textbook. tests and quizzes are right at the start of class and pretty fast. participation is graded too!
Sumitomo Sensei was a great professor. She actually wants you to learn the language and will push you. She gives a good amount of homework but it all helps. You will need to study and practice a lot, but with Sumitomo's help learning Japanese is very easy and super fun, just make sure to turn in ur hw or she will get upset and call you out in class
I had fun in Sumitomo Sensei's class, however, if you want to succeed in this class you must be willing to study every day. I had to juggle work and school while in this class so it was definitely challenging, but it felt very rewarding to know that my hard work paid off. I recommend taking this class if you want to learn Japanese quickly.
Don't take this Professor, it's real guys. One mistake, you out from her. Power point teacher learning, but you have to find the knowledge for your own. I warned whoever consider to take her class.
Not sure about her other classes, but this class was really disorganized. It seems it was an afterthought when compared to her Japanese classes. She taught mainly by powerpoint and if you were not in attendance, good luck getting notes and answer for the homework. If you get the notes, tests are a breeze. Final exam was also changed to a paper.
She was very nice and kind, but extremely disorganized, and she didn't know what you were talking about or asking. If you can study by yourself, you will be fine.
Great professor. She set up a various in class activities to help us to learn, and really knows pushing the boundary to make the students challenge themselves and improve.
It's a gem class for those who wants to learn Japanese culture, history and arts deeper. It will change your view of that Country from the surface.
Sumitomo Sensei is a demanding but rewarding teacher. The coursework is challenging, but her guidance and unstuck study make it manageable. Engage with the material, and you'll gain a solid grasp of the language.
She is very disorganized. She always has trouble presenting because her laptop has problems. She cannot manage her time properly and it is extremely difficult to communicate with her, she will not understand you. She never responds to emails or messages and can be rude. However, she is kind and would extend deadlines when student requests so.
She is extremely disorganized, and the main way of learning is through her slide show presentations. However, her accent is so thick that you cannot even understand her if you trying to learn from her slides. Since having a camera is a requirement for participation, everyone must have on for the entire time of class.
Pr. Sumitomo is an outstanding instructor. She sets high expectations, yes but it helped me a lot. Her use of visual slides is very effective and helps make even the more difficult concepts easier to understand. If you're serious about learning Japanese, you'll get a lot out of it. Sumitomo is a rare find, highly recommended for dedicated students.
Only weebs like her class lol she's a terrible professor and so unorganized
THE WORST professor I've ever had. Very disorganized. Terrible communication. Does not know how to teach a language. The textbook she made herself is a mess. Can't understand the most simple questions students ask in class. Marks you just for not doing things her way even when you demonstrate proficiency.
She is so cool! I enjoyed every minute of her lectures. She will make you work hard, but you can't expect passing the language class without working hard. I learned so much in her class. All I want to do now is to travel to Japan and see things I learned about for myself.
I have mixed feelings on Prof Sumitomo. On one hand, she is kind and will give you extra credit if you ask for it and gives you credit if you participate in class, so its nice that she rewards you for being active in class. However, like everyone else keeps saying, she IS unorganized and a scatter brain and can be a tough/ unreasonable grader.
It was easy to get good grades. The professor wasn't strict with grading!
pretty much all the material we learn in class is part of her course reader. The course is a bit more dense than JP1 but just do your best, as long as you come to class and do the exercises you'll be fine! Lenient with late work and allows test corrections. shes kind and caring, always open to questions, if anything is unclear just ask!
