She is a very nice person, but most of the learning is by yourself. And alot of Memorization. She doesn't help you but makes you think for yourself. The quizes are online and very difficult. Don't take this class if you are not prepared. the tests are multiple choice, which makes it harder.
she is so nice she could be a saint. However, she lectures as if she was doing this for her 30th concecutive year... Unclear and uninteresting. She doesn't teach you which formulas to use. Class test average in the 50's and 60's percents.Quizzes online are very hard. GPA's are at risk.
her test are impossible... her lectures are boring and unclear... I almost didn't go to med school because of her! Terrible class/teacher/material...take Dr. Graves(he rocks!!!)
Her lectures are a bit sloppy and I'm not sure she plans them at all. She is always willing to help students though, and always holds a review session before each exam. If you alread had general chemistry, this class is very easy. The exercises she puts on the web are super helpful.
Dr. Delgado is a great teacher, she's always willing to help u out. Chemistry is not an easy class, and if you plan to take the MCTA, DAT, etc., then it is better to suffer a lil'bit with Dr. D and learn the material, than to take Chm. with an "EASY A" proffesor. You'll thank her latter... Trust me!
very difficult to understand lectures. material not ver hard, but most of the time learned it on my own with the book. online quizes were impossible. three hard exams and a comprehensive final.
chemistry is not easy, but she tries to help out as much as she can. she gives like 7 quizes online that are 10% of final grade- they were sometimes confusing, but otherwise very helpfull, tests were VERY straight foward. if you study and go to class, you'll pass with flying colors.
Professor was great, if you read, study and answer questions in back of each chapter you shouldn't have a problem. Always willing to help.. GReaT ProfEssOr and would Recommend Her to Anyone!
My advice don't take this professor, she is unclear, rushes the work way to fast. Take grave..he's the best!
She is a splendid teacher, to success in her class you need to pay a lot of attention cause if u miss one thing it would be hard for u to catch up. She is very nice cause she likes to help her students and she gives a good curcve at the end to help as much students as possible, Chemistry is hard so good luck and u better study, tests mayknock uout
She was very helpful and does curve a lot... its just a difficult course.

She is way too unclear for a proffesor. As head of the chemistry department, she isn't all that helpfull. She tells you to ask her anything after lecture then after class she tells you to go to her office during office hours. My suspitions were proved when I spoke with another student and said she gave her an additude. Think drill-sergeant attitude
She sucks... take it with another teacher if you can. Tests are impossible and the quizzes don't help you at all because they're only 10% of your grade. But its like your forced to take her because Graves' class is so hard to get into. Good luck if your stuck with her like i am.
She explains really well in class & people seem to understand a lot, the problem comes with the exams that are just impossible because she's is all over the place and it's very confusing, she is available for questions but it's true sometimes she gives an attitude, she did it to me a few times, if u can take another teacher do!
Class is easy but tests are extremely difficult- she explains well and learn alot but don't take this class to get an "easy A"
She knows her stuff, but expects you to know the same. Her tests are very, very tricky, but she gives a huge curve on the final. She has no patience.
All of those saying she is unclear and her tests are hard are the students who did not pass the class or who didn't even care about studying good enough. Chemistry is hard, period. There is no easy A. Dr Delgado is awesome and she ecplains really well with lots of examples. However you do have to stay on the same page, she's a great teacher!
I wonder what some have against her. The paper you have to write for the class was a doozy, and her tests are graded on a different scale (you don't get a B for a 75 with many other people, do you?). That, and some questions in the final were VERY suspect to say the least (with this I mean easy).
VERY DIFFICULT AND UNCLEAR. IMPATIENT WITH STUDENTS AND DOES NOT PROVIDE MUCH HELP OUTSIDE OF CLASS. HER TESTS AND EXAMS ARE NOTHING LIKE THE CLASS LECTURE OR THE ONLINE QUIZZES. I WOULDN'T RECOMMEND HER TO ANYONE. MORE THAN HALF THE PEOPLE IN HER CLASS DROPPED THE COURSE BECAUSE OF HER. CHEM IS HARD ENOUGH WITHOUT HER HAVING TO MAKE IT UNBEARABLE.
I got a B in her class thanks to proffessor Graves at the south campus. He help me a lot whenever she would tell me to get help from other students. Graves didn't even mine that I was not in his class. Look up Palmer Graves ratings.
easy final. lots mistakes on tests. but she makes you work for your grade. class based on grades (90%) and the rest on quizzes.
Dr. Delgado has a pretty hard spanish accent BUT that doesnt stop her passion for helping her students. Go to her office hours. She helps a lot! And there are always opportunities to bring up your grade if you dont get off to a GREAT start. - Worst part: final is cumulative.
Dont take her, i passes her class but not without working my butt off. her quizes are so hard, much harder than what she does in class and her tests are nothing like the quizes.
the key to this class is to take the quizzes, read the book & attend class so that u understand her lectures. the examples she gives are sometimes already in the book; she snaps at students sometimes & the quizzes are hard, it also helps to work w/ other people. Final is cumulative =/. it wasnt xtremely hard but u def. have to work if u want an A.
She loves to teach and it shows. She is passionate, enthusiastic and appears to really care about what she is doing for a living: teaching students chemistry. She is impatient, moody and give an attitude for no apparent reason. However, considering she is a latina female professor with a bad accent, people should cut her some slack. She's only
Tough class. Tests are difficult. A lot of material is covered.
I hate how people talk about Dr. Delgado... her class is easy if you study. This is COLLEGE people, most classes you have to teach yourself, and trust me it's better that way, you actually learn. Come on people time to get out of high school mode!!
i loved her! she was an easy, friendly teacher. chem and society was one of the easiest classes i've ever taken and she definitely gives a lot of points to boost up your grade!
She is a great teacher! Very nice and helpful. People need to stop thinking that showing up to class awake is going to earn you A's. You need to study! Stop being lazy! There's no need to give a professor bad ratings for being fair.
The class is not difficult if you try and she tries to help as much as possible. Studying is a must to pass.
She's an okay professor. She teaches well with her powerpoints. Her class is not easy or not too hard. You have to STUDY!! 90% of your grade is on exams and 10% is on quizzes. She has an accent, but you can understand her most of the time. Take her if you are serious about Chemistry. You will learn a lot and appreciate her in the end.
She was a difficult teacher. I never understood what she was talking about. The key to passing her class is going to lots of study groups, tutors, lab, and reading the textbook. All these things were more helpful for me to understand chemistry then she herself as a teacher was.
Let's face it... the subject's not exactly cake; but nonetheless, a great professor. Never trails off from the topic, and will help a student WHO LOOKS for HELP. Grade based on a grand total of 3 partial tests (100 pnts) and a monster culmulative final (200 pnts)--but I still highly recommend her.
she teaches well. always prumpt. gives some amout of make up. sometimes unfair .. very hard online quizzes that close of in a week and u only get 3 tries.. class exams are a brick. i have a 3.3 GPA and i am vertually failing her class. and i think i put enough of focus on this class. the content is hard but she does not make it easy at all.
Online quizzes are very hard, and not even close to her exam. She uses powerpoints in class but you definetly have to read the book. Her exams were very difficult, even after doing the online quizzes and the inclass examples, none of the problems were even close to her exam. She loves to trick you (she even mentioned it in class). Very nice though
I'm just very thankful that I pass this class with a C. Her quizzes were very hard like when she's doing conversions in class, she makes it seems so easy. But on the quizzes, they're a different story.
Recommended! Teacher is willing to help and explains everything in details. I started this class hating chemistry, but at the end of it all, it wasn't so bad after all. People will say mean things about this professor because they hate chemistry, but this teacher knows her information and she will make sure you do by the end of the semester.
this professor gives extremely hard quizzes and tests. if u do not make the text book your lover you will not get a good grade. she teaches well however
This prof. is the best!I like chemistry but she made me fall in love it. If I had another chance, i will take "Delgado's chemistry."
Do not take her. Her tests are very difficult. This is the first C I have ever got in college. She purposely makes the tests very hard to pass. You have to work your butt off just to pass. I wish I never took her. I am driving to south campus for chem2 just to stay away from her class. this class is nothing but stress and headaches. And I like che
Great Professor! She's very helpful and is fair. I definently recommend her!! I wish she was teaching Organic Chem! Viva Delgado!
im finishing up taking her class now, & it was not easy. I would not reccomend her unless you are already familiar with chemistry, i didnt like her teaching method at all and 90% of the time i had no idea what she was talking about. Dont take her unless u are good at chemistry if not u will be lost, and chances of getting a good grade are slim.
This teacher is ridiculously hard. I have never felt so stupid in my life. She does not like helping and when asked, she makes a face or comment. She gives barely anything fr the amount of online work she gives. Attendance is mandatory, and shell know from the clickers she makes you purchase. Her tests are super hard. I dont recommend her at all!
I just finished this class and it was surprisingly easy! I HATED chemistry in high school - but here I got an A and never attended class (gave clicker to a friend). Notes online, tests are SUPER simple and straight from ppts. TAKE HER! You never have to go to class and quizzes online boost your grade. Whoever says otherwise is mentally challenged.
this teacher is a total witch for lack of a better word. she does not answer questions clearly, and attitude when u do ask questions she says at the beginning of the course she will not rush through the material and she does. and no one can understand what she is saying because she doesnt pronounce half of the words in the english language correctl
Ok I don't know what is wrong with these ppl but you have to be really dumb not to pass this class. She was very helpful, very precise and clear, made sure you understood the material before she moved on. she is a great teacher. Quizzes are ok, but I mean you get 3 tries come on are you serious. I recommend her 100%. Wonderful class.
DO NOT TAKE HER!!!! She is VERY hard, has a nasty attittude when you ask for help, I went to her office for help and she said, "I taught this in class.." umm obviously i didnt understand!! anyway I got my first D in my 4 yrs of college.
Wow! I hated this professor. First of all, she couldn't speak english properly, hello, this is america, not cuba! Secondly, she had bad attitude. Makes u feel stupid when u answer the question wrong. Thirdly, when i went to her office, she slammed door in my face! DO NOT TAKE HER! I ended up passing with a C, but only because of extra tutoring
Milagros Delgado is the best chemistry teacher at FIU, hands down. I took her for 1045/46, and she was incredibly helpful throughout. Her topic knowledge is endless, and her patience limitless. She proved to me that she's willing to go to great extents over small questions. Just make sure you're not just another student to her!!
Delgado is really helpful and knows her stuff.
She doesn't have a bad accent, and she is VERY knowledgeable of Chem Quizzes are online, and are a large percentage of your grade.3 in class exams. If you don't study or grasp anything during lecture of course your going to fail.If you want to be spoon fed don't take chemistry, take a hospitality class which oddly happens to be in the same buildin
This class is not easy. You need to practice, go to class to learn, read your textbook, and do practice problems. The tests are very tricky--not difficult--but she tries to trick you with little things. Ive heard FIU has much better chem teachers than this. Go to one of the good teachers if you can, although Delgado is not the worst teacher ever
escape while you can! drop out while you can! survival is rare with 30 percent averages out of 200 people. the tests are impossible and dont even bother with all the crap online. move on from this, change your major before its too late!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
an easy professor to deal with if you have some clue about chemistry
This teacher pays extreme attantion to detail, test are hard and tricky, you'll get below a C with out adoubt if you don't hit the books really really hard. I'm looking for a better teacher for my chem 2 class.
The class average is a 50. Even when you feel confident, you end up getting a bad grade. The problem is that she TRIES to trick you on the test. You could have the concept down and still get the question wrong because of something very minor. Multiple choice tests so you dont get partial credit. Worst grades I gotten in two years of college.
The easiest chem class you can find and the easiest professor to deal with. She is not helpful at all but she doesn't give you hard time and doesn't really have the bad attitude everybody here talks about. If you have at least some clue about chemestry, it's an A class for you. Unless you can't stand people who cannot talk and spell right:)
I got straigt As and B's in AP Calculus is high school and got three consecutive D's on Delgados tests. You must not make even a tiny mistake or your grade will suffer. MC tests and no partial credit given. The only class I have ever truly felt hopeless in. Its not an unpassable class, but she makes the subject harder for sure.
Some professors teach and are difficult with intricate tests, but you end up learning the material due to the challenge. This is NOT one of those. She is difficult. I was awesome in Chemistry during high school, but she makes it a different subject and her tests make you freak out. Class averages are always F's, I'm hoping she curves.
This chemistry class really has clarified many topics that were difficult in high school. I think Dr.D is a great teacher in that she explains the chemistry with analogies in order to ease comprehension. I can see why many people don't like it. It can be difficult if you don't put your maximum effort; it's not an easy "A" Practice problems before t
Avoid this class. You wont learn or get a good grade. Class averages are low F's and she does not curve. Online quizzes are way harder than the material she teaches. This class is unecessarily difficult, especially for a lower division class. Be prepared to teach yourself and get bad grades. This teacher is not fair in many ways.
I posted the comment below. i want to revise one thing. she does curve the grade at the end one half letter grade. but the rest of my comment still stands.
she is very hard but not unpassable. she pays close attention to detail and has tricky tests and even harder online quizzes. just DO EVERYTHING SHE TELLS YOU. do the home work and web ct and mastering chemistry. do the homework in the book. bring your iclicker and go to every class. she will give an extra credit problem once in class.
Unless you want your dreams of earning a high GPA , attending med school, etc. to be ruined, go ahead and take her class. She was so bad, I had no confidence in her teaching or giving tests. I'm shamed to say that I didn't even show up to take her final because I didn't want anything to do with her anymore. She enjoys seeing people suffer.
AVOID THIS TEACHER IF POSSIBLE. FIND A DIFFERENT CLASS.
The truth is this. Survery of Chemistry is a very hard subject no matter who teaches it!! She's a very good teacher and does everything she can to make sure you pass by giving you a ton of quizzes and HW to help. If you don't study then you will not pass so don't expect to pass if you don't anything into it. She gives exam reviews and answers Qs
I'm not going to lie it was a tough class. Her exams half the time were nothing like what she taught in class. Her online quizes were sometimes the same & the wiley was just a big pain in the rear. The class is passable though, but be prepared to study A LOT & stress the entire semester.
I must insist to avoid Milagros, her tests and quizzes are near impossible and I do not have patience to sit there for over an hour to her ramble on. I am truly disappointed in her teaching skills as well as really reaching out to help. My GPA suffered dramatically and lost my scholarship because of her Chemistry class. Please dont take her class!

I had Ms. Delgado for Chem 1 and 2 and i loved her class. She also is very helpful when you ask questions. Chemistry isn't easy, so dont think you can pull an A with minimal study. Many of us learned that the hard way. AND DO WHAT SHE TELLS YOU. Do the webct and Mastering chem. She curves and her Final is easier than her regular 3 exams.
Dr. Delgado is a wonderful teacher. Before her class I had no interest in chemistry, and during the course of study learned to really love it. She made it very interesting, and even though it was challenging, she was always willing to help with problems. I would recommend her - but... don't think you can slack off. Be prepared to study!
She was great!!! the subject was a little hard for me but she was always available to help me. She does several review sessions to prepare for her tests and she gives just the right amount of homework for you to master the concepts. She's really nice too.
STAY AWAY
Chemistry is not an easy subject. At the beginning of the semester she gave us a quiz to see what we knew about chem and I got a 10 out of 190. Didnt know ANY chem at all. I ended up getting an A for the class and it wouldnt have been if not for the help Milagros offered. She offered several review sections for her exams and told us what to study f
SHE IS SUPER HARD TO UNDERSTAND ON TOP OF THE FACT THAT CHEMISTRY IS A DIFFICULT SUBJECT, SHE ASSIGNS BLACKBOARDS AND MASTERING CHMS THAT ARE DUE AT RANDOM TIMES. HER REVIEW SESSIONS ARE WORTHLESS AND HER TESTS ARE REDICULOUSLY HARD. STAY AWAY...TAKE YOUR CHEM AT THE OTHER CAMPUS!!
good teacher, but extremly hard test. class requires lots of studying not impossible to get a C but an A is not guarunteed without lots and lots of studying.
first of all, chem isnt easy. but if you study, her tests are really not that bad, just make sure you understand the material. clickers for attendance points, blackboard quizzes, most are 3 attempts each, webassign hw. the class is demanding, but i was able to get an A. just study, review her powerpoints, do what you need to do to understand
I think Dr.Delgado was an awesome professor! The subject matter was a little difficult but i enjoyed her class. Learning 1045 in 6weeks is not easy and she made it bearable.
STAY AWAY!! ESPECIALLY IN SUMMER!!!! HER TESTS ARE RIDICULOUSLY HARD, EVEN IF YOU STUDY AND HAVE A TUTOR, PLUS SHE IS RUDE AND ON A POWER TRIP AND MAKES YOU FEEL STUPID. STAY AWAY, FAR AWAY, THIS WAS THE MOST STRESSFUL CLASS I HAVE EVER HAD, IF YOU WANT TO CALL IT A CLASS, I CALLED IT BOOT CAMP!!
I went into the class feeling confident because I understood everything she was teaching in her powerpoints and I was killing those MasteringChem quizzes, but as soon as I took her blackboard quiz and that first test, it all went down the drain. If you know how to solve her blackboard questions forward and backward then you should be fine on tests.
This professor ensures that you know the material. Her tests are not easy but with sufficient study an A is possible. If you want an easy A and dont care about learning the material then do not take her. Those that care about their education will put in the time to learn.
Chemistry is never easy, and dr. Delgado makes it easy with powerpoints, and interactive activities that get graded. Her class has a midterm, final, long essay, and group PowerPoint project, as well as a lot of in class assignments. Excellent class!!
As a freshman who is currently taking her class, I must say all the other comments are true, she is really there to help you, chemistry is a hard subject, you must be sharp in your math skills, test are hard, but passable, her quizzes are easy. My advice is to read the chapter that ur currently on and do the problems, and STUDY.
As a freshman who is currently taking her class, I must say all the other comments are true, she is really there to help you, chemistry is a hard subject, read the text book to help your understanding of the subject, all you have to do is study, study, study.
Horrible. Unless you really love Chem. She is rude and doesn't care
Dr. Delgado is an excellent teacher. Great power points, online quizzes, mastering chem, review sessions some weekends, available via chat the night before tests for last minute questions, always available in office hours, she pops into some of the labs to make sure everything is going well and answers questions. Tests are hard but doable. Study!
She's a great teacher. Very accessible and helpful. She really tries to make sure everybody understands the material. Her tests are a bit tricky and long and there is a lot of material covered in the class so you do need to study hard! But awesome professor, I loved taking Chemistry with her!
She is a great professor and very helpful, you would not regret taking chemistry with her if you are willing to study and put effort in the class. Some of the material is a little hard but its chemistry. She gives a lot of extra credit from hw and quizes, so if you are willing to put the effort you would do great in her class
Prof. Delgado is a bit rude and not helpful. I agree with others when it comes to the subject matter being difficult. But I went to her office hours on various accounts and she was never there. By rude I mean she's condescending and would talk down to our class. Not very pleased with her.
Her teaching skills are poor, and she's not helpful at all. The only way you can pass this subject in her class is if you've taken it at least twice before. Her assistant saved my life in this subject and I don't recommend a summer semester with her. She'll just glide through the subject, and if you have questions "See her after class"!
DO NOT take her EVER for a 6 week course. She will micromanage everything. She started teaching new material TWO DAYS before our final and the about 12 questions on the final were from the new material.ALSO,the final was 70 questions, and THREE HOURS LONG! Exhausting even for the dedicated student. Likes to trick students too on tests too. UNFAIR
As a professor shes ok but you can get someone better her tests are super tricky and even if you go to class alot itll be hard to get everything especially the way she explains it you have to study super hard just to get a low C in her class.
Hard teacher ever, her test of My God very hard,so you know what to do guys dont even think about it..... ): ):
The class really isn't that bad with Dr. Delgado as a professor. So far with, I have to admit, mainly studying and teaching myself through practice problems, I got an 87 on her first exam so it shouldn't be too bad. Just study A LOT or you'll have the chance of falling behind from the beginning. A good understanding in the beg. will make it easier.
Dr.Delgado heart is like a bed of flowers beautiful very helpful open door policy for help. But MY GOD THE CLASS IS HARD AND THE TEST ARE WICKED..... There are easier professors
Nice lady, takes for ever to reply to emails though. Going to lecture is a must she gives participation points. A few quizes online, 3 exams and one cumulative final, first and third exam are essay, just pure math, second exam was more difficult, alot more concepts and tricky question. Final was easy. Take her if you want to learn chem.
She is clear, knowledgeable and EXTREMELY HELPFUL. You can come to her office any time for extra help! She wants students to put in lots of effort to learn a tough subject, but it is well worth it! Study Study Study, great teacher!
I found that professor Delgado is very knowledgeable in her field, and conveys it in an easy to understand way with the use of many analogies. First and third exam are very easy, second one is harder. I'd say, just study a decent amount and an A/B is possible. I studied a good amount and came out with an A in the class..
The class is HARD! it's a lot of material to cover. She is a good teacher & I would recommend her. Our class was of 200 people when we started and when the drop date came, it was about half full. STUDY A LOT!!! ask as many questions you need to get it, stay on top of the homework!-you should be ok
Dr. Delgado is a very good professor, she shows true concern for those students who PUT EFFORT in the class and into learning. She has an open door policy, you can ask her questions any time. She is very understandable when teaching. As long as you study, attend class, do the homework and quizzes you should be able to get an A.
It is an extremely hard and time consuming class. You will have to go beyond her lectures to read over the book. But she is a good professor and will help you whenever you need it. She is also always available during office hours.
This lady is awesome. She is fair, smart, and fair. Please do yourself a favor and take her. The best! I took her during six weeks.
Short 6 week class. She means well but there just isn't enough repetition for some subjects. Prepare to study and teach yourself if you haven't taken chemistry in a while. Passable but definitely one HARD class.
She is a great chemistry teacher and you will learn from her. however since I am a bit slow I took her again in summer 2012 which I got a C cause I was lazy but you can get an A if you study her powerpoints, do the homework, clicker and exams. In the end she is a in between for difficulty but of you study you have no worries. just STUDY!
Amazing Professor! She really cares for her students because she dedicates her own time, even her sundays, just to help students prepare for her tests! She is very nice. Her funny chemistry analogies will help you in class. I absolutely hated chemistry in high school but I can't believe that I got a high grade in this class! Take her course!
She's super nice and everything, but she's a little bit weird in her way of explaining things and her tests are hard as nails, you better study because they're so tricky. The good thing, she's always willing to help you, even on Sundays before tests.
Dr. Delgado is the best Chem professor I ever had. Even though I failed her course, its a lot of material to cover, I can say I walked out of her room learning something. I definitely recommend her! Study hard because its a lot to take!
Hard class...hard to get 100...
3 tests and a cum. final. She does clicker for class participation and online hw/quizzes. In the end they don't help the grade at all. She curves, but her method makes no sense. Does not teach, just reads off PowerPoint, so attendance is pointless. She is always available to help and does review for test. Review doesn't help. Tests are tricky
This the first time ever I've taken chemistry and I suggest you to take her. Yes the class is hard and long but she gives you a lot of help and videos for help and online hw. If you are lazy dont take her. But if you want to learn chemistry take you won't regret. Remember do the hw, go to class everyday and watch the videos and you will pass
Dr. Delgado is one of the best professors I've ever had. She is extremely smart, dedicated, clear, helpful, and caring. She works hard for students to really understand the material, gives tons of opportunities for practice, and is always available to help. It's not easy, but if you listen and do the work there's no reason you can't get an "A."
If science is not your strength good professor to have. Very helpful professor. Has many tutoring sessions and is almost always in her office for one on one help. If your struggling SEE HER FOR HELP AS OFTEN AS YOU CAN. She takes note of your effort
Ridiculously easy. I studied lightly for exams by going over the ppts and doing practice problems and destroyed them every time. I did not find Dr. Delgado particularly helpful. I e-mailed her throughout the semester and never got a reply. All MC tests. Book is worthless. Buy an old edition cheaply just for practice questions. Def go to class!
I had to drop the class because I was failing. I thought I was good at chemistry until I had this professor. Worst professor I've had. If someone got at least a 60 on a test they were praised. That's not my ideal passing grade. Don't take her.
Terrible teacher. She tries to explain everything very quickly and then move on to the next topic, not caring if anyone understands what she is talking about. I-clickers are mandatory as is attendance. She has quizzes every day of class when she uses the i-clickers. Her tests are inconsistent with the material she teaches. Feels like a Ph.D class
This class isn't as hard as others make it seem. Her exams are obviously the most important grade 500/590. For every exam she has a review before hand which I suggest you attend. Attendance isn't mandatory but she does clicker questions which she will use as extra credit in the future. One piece of advice use khan academy. Final grade is curved.
The course is not easy in general, but if you do the practice problems from the textbook and the online HW you should be fine. Also attend her review sessions as it helps clarify topics. Her clicker questions in class help too because they are extra credit. Dr. Delgado is a good professor but just be prepared to study (it is chemistry).
People say she is good but she isn't... I dropped the class right before the last drop date because I tried to stick out but she confused me to another level. Her tests have nothing to do with her material. I suggest you search elsewhere for a professor because Delgado is NOT worth the money and time to take a class with.
I had taken the AP Chem exam and passed with a 4 in highschool. I retook it because it looks better for med school but taking it with her was a huge mistake. I dropped it. I am good at chem but she had me so lost...
She is a great teacher and she really cares about her students. She always sets up activities or some sort of interactive way to learn the material during class which is extremely helpful. The tests are not too difficult and she does posts old tests online to review with and she doesn't put anything she hasn't gone over on the exams.
Best teacher ever. I had my share of teachers, I already have a bachelor degree but had to go back to get some prerequisites for my masters. Even though I never had reviewed, I had to review her because she is so passionate and she wants you to learn! That's why you have so many homeworks every week. She wants you to pass but you must earn it.
she's whatever. I don't like her, she makes you teach yourself and you have to study the book to pass her exams. she is unclear on what she will ask, so you have to know everything.... AND she spends 80%+ of class time "allowing" us to do problems for iClicker questions... i think she should teach more instead. try to avoid.
She is a good professor failed chem in the past cause I could not stay on top of my work because all the teachers are usually more slack that it makes it easier to fall behind on your work... But with her, her class is designed so that you know the material before she does it in class which makes lectures it harder to get lost in lecture..
I don't think she's the best teacher ever she's rude and arrogant but she knows her stuff I'll give her that. She's makes you understand the info but you have to study!!! She makes you work for your grade. Tests are challenging not impossible, review don't help, no curve, Do the homework its the easiest part of the class and it helps your grade
Dr. Delgado is the best professor I've ever had, and I'm working on my 2nd bachelors right now. She works really hard to design an interactive curriculum, and she expects you to work hard, too. I'm in orgo right now and so far it's been easy bc of how she prepared me.
Do not take her!!! She has horrible when it comes to managing her time and is very rude. For the first test we only got to chapter 3 when we were supposed to have gotten to chapter 5 and had to spend the rest of the semester catching up. It got so bad that labs didnt even match with lecture marerial. Take Graves! He teaches better and isnt rude.
Best professor I've ever had! The class is really hard: a lot of online homework, in class clicker quizzes, and tough tests. She is really clever and good at preventing cheating. I felt like she gave me the support I needed to do well. Go to class because the clicker points give so much extra credit.
I don't know what these people are talking about. I took her class and found her extremely confusing! Our class exams averaged 60% and she said "we were doing well". I had to retake the class with Graves and aced it! AVOID HER. She gives an excessive amount of online homework and you HAVE to attend class to get iclicker points for participation.
Worst professor of my life (I'm 30). Lecture is mandatory but useless. The majority of the class is confused; she spends 20-30 minutes having us work out problems on our own, with no feedback as to what the actual answers are. On 3 tests the class average is below 60. RUN AWAY. Multiple test questions are based on one answer. 1 mistake F
I took Dr. Delgado for both Gen Chem I and II. I just needed to adjust to her teaching style. Advice: don't miss her class or speak while she is lecturing!! RAISE YOUR HAND. She can be intimidating at first, but she is the sweetest lady. She is extremely knowledgeable and is passionate about chemistry. Her willingness to help you is endless.
BE AWARE. DO NOT PLAY WITH THIS TEACHER. If you enroll in a class with her, you should be ready to work hard because her patience is golden. She is very serious and rude. Thank God I am not part of the chemistry major because I took the easiest class with her, and I cannot imagine the hardest chemistry classes with Dr. Delgado. Take a deep breath.
She doesn't lecture, is a do yourself kind of class.
She doesn't teach, a lot of online homework. zero feedback on class assignments DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!
If you pass this class, es un milagro. No feedback whatsoever, horrible teaching method (mainly class work in groups), and very hard tests that averaged 60. Take it with another instructor if possible, because if not, you're going to struggle a lot. Definitely didn't like her.
Take at your own risk. I know chemistry is a tough subject but she doesn't make it easier. There's group assignments but she doesn't give you feedback. The test aren't long but they are tricky. If you take her, GOOD LUCK!
She is really good but I still think that there are certain things, she can fix in her teaching methods.
This is possibly the worst professor at FIU. Reviews are irrelevant and review sessions are useless. Does not teach, everything is discussed amongst peers. Impossibly hard tests. Online work is tough too but has unlimited tries (to get it wrong). Do not take her.
Professor gives many opportunities to receive extra credit. Her class grading scale is already curved, and participation in class is a must if you want those E.C points. Exams are very difficult, time used in class is not efficient, expect copious amount of group work. I am an A student and had to work hard for a B. YOU WILL need additional tutor!
Okay so here's the deal: It's not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. I made sure I read and did the Learnsmart before it was due. The review is not meant to be exactly like the exam its just practice problems regarding topics students are confused about. She's helpful and the class is doable! I got an A because I tried and got help too! :)
Horrible teacher because she doesn't teach and expects us to know everything. Worst teacher i have had
Well I love chemistry and Delgado wasn't the best teacher i've had for chem. Don't get me wrong she knows her stuff extremely well but she won't lecture and will let you drown while doing worksheets with your classmates that you sit around. She expects you to go above and beyond and ask for help. she make the tests extra tricky to try & catch you.
So all chem classes in FIU are taking a new approach n the way the lesson is taught during class. Do not expect long lectures in class, instead be prepared for multiple worksheets to be passed out and done during class. Most students don't like this but it is very do-able, will just require a lot of study time on your own. Delgado was a good prof.
Delgado is one of the hardest chem professors. The class is flipped, so you learn on your own w/worksheets. It's mega hard but the class is doable. As far as interacting with Delgado personally, I would stay away. She's either decent or very rude/disrespectful, so go to the LA's for help. Beware of the tests. THEY ARE SUPER HARD AND SUPER TRICKY
Delgado is an OK professor, her tests are hard but passable, in class worksheets are annoying, but help your grade. the final is pretty simple, but the homeworks are difficult. teaches well, but uses most of the class time for the stupid worksheets. overall just a regular professor, she works with you and helps you, but is challenging.
Ok, so Chem is not an easy subject to start, so I knew this class was going to be tough. The tests were super hard for me (although lots of people did good). There is a bunch of online hw that for me was pretty easy. You deff need to read the book and study a lot alone cause she doesn't lecture. I used to go to tutoring everyday, thats how i passed
Personally, I love her cause she dresses cute and she has a strange sense of humor. Her test, however, are based on exceptions. So on top of knowing all the content well enough you also had to study all the exceptions. She does curve her exams so that kind of saves you. She doesn't teach so plan on going to tutoring sessions & pray.
WORST TEACHER RUN!
Delgado is an amazing professor! Although her tests can be quite tricky, she teaches the material very well and there are no surprises. She's very helpful and will give you everything you need to pass. Definitely recommend!
Ok so she isn't the best teacher on campus but she is decent. She gives packets in class and they can be confusing. She gives clicker questions every class that are worth exam points so they are a must have extra credit. I would give the exams a 7 hardness rating cause they might be hard but she curves everything. Study and you can get an A
Takes on the new approach of "flipped learning", which means she literally refuses to teach a shred of chemistry to you. You come to class and work on worksheets about material you need to have studied and learned on your own before class. Very condescending and rude. 10/10 would not recommend. Run
She's a tough lady, but she means well. I had to teach myself basically everything to be able to pass this class, but that means that I actually learned something and will be able to apply that in the future. Lots of studying, come to class to get the iClicker points and you should be fine. Plus the labs are extremely easy.
She gives you packets in class to fill with a group. She does clicker questions , and if the class did not get it right, she will explain it on the screen. If you went to class, did hw, then the test are easy. Really good professor, there for you, and if you ask she will help you. She looks intimidating at first but she is a really nice person.
Took Delgado for Chem 1 & 2. Attendance isn't mandatory, but she gives worksheets almost every class that you need to complete for grades. She doesn't lecture very often, but when she does it's helpful. The tests are pretty difficult, but it's a rigorous science class, you need to study. If you take her for chem 1 stick with her for chem 2 for sure
I'm not just saying this for the heck of it, in fact I passed the class so I'm not a just a bitter student, but this was the worst prof. I've ever had. No lectures, just worksheets in class that she never returned. Tests were super hard considering she never went over any of the content and she is just rude. Good luck if you take her...
I did not like the structure of this class one bit. We did worksheets EVERYDAY. We had clicker questions at the beginning of class and things we did the day before. she would post clicker questions from the worksheet we were currently doing. She did not grade the worksheets whatsoever. You will need to study for your exams.
already took chem 2 so i had to come back here to write that this class was very difficult for me since she doesn't teach. clickers were the only moment i learned in that class & that's the only extra credit you will get. tests were difficult. chem 2 was easier than this class. having chem 1 as foundation for chem 2 is important so don't take her
homework can be overwhelming especially with a full class load
This teacher does not teach whatsoever. If you want to tech yourself Chemistry, go ahead and take her. She passes out worksheets every class and has her class assistants practically teach for her. Do not recommend whatsoever.
She is awesome. The method of teaching which is flipped works! if this class was a lecture class i dont think i would have learn. Theres assignments. 4 exams including a final. Clicker points are crucial!! Make sure you attend class. The LA's are great also! its a hard class but if you get help and make study groups you will pass
Porf. Delgado has a unique teaching method, no lectures only group assignments this can either be beneficial or it can ruin you. If you don't have a stable background in chemistry and need one on one lectures to understand i suggest you change to another class. The tests are hard, if you come into the test without studying you will NOT pass.
Definitely not caring. She doesn't care whether or not you fail or not. If you are confused on anything, she refuses to help. Unlike professor graves, she won't provide you with any assistance whatsoever if you are stuck on something. Just take a different professor who actually takes their job seriously.
Aside from this professor not teaching she is very arrogant and unapproachable. She is hard to understand and has a thick accent. She does not care about the students all she cares about is the useless worksheets - BEWARE SHE DOES NOT LECTURE AT ALL. If you want to yourself Chemistry, take this class. GOOD LUCK.
Professor Delgado doesn't lecture what so ever. She makes you purchase these worksheets and split into groups and doesn't clearly explain how an assignment should be done. Her methods of teaching in my opinion is very much counterproductive. If chemistry isn't a strong subject for you, I highly wouldn't recommend taking her.
I was very scared to take this class but I have to say it really wasn't that bad. She does not teach at all you will have to take the time to teach yourself the material. The class is flipped so you are placed in groups the beginning of the semester and work on worksheets . If you are put in a good group that wants to learn you'll be fine.
Dr. Delgado has a unique teaching method, no lectures (unless If you go to the exam reviews, she lectures) and only group assignments in class this can either be beneficial or it can ruin you. If you don't have a stable background in chemistry, i suggest you change to another class. But she cares a lot about her students.
I don't think this class is impossible to pass, but you DEFINITELY have to work for it. There are soo many online assignments that count towards the hw grade. There are 3 major tests worth 75% of the grade and all of the work done in class is done in groups. She's a nice person and will try to help as much as she can, but its still hard.
She cares very much about her students. If you don't like Chem then don't take her class because you will have to work very hard. Lots of homework but it is helpful. The in class worksheets are very good at reinforcing what was taught in the homework. It's not an easy class but Chemistry in general isn't easy.
Professor Delgado is an amazing Professor her class is not hard as long as you do the work and ask questions when confused. She really cares about our learning experience. Before each exam she had a review that were soooooo helpful!
Love love love!! Delgado. If you do not want to learn the material and understand, she is not the one to take. she cares about her students and wants them to succeed so she pushes you in the right direction. do not be late because clickers are crucial and study before coming to class. it is a flipped class but it doesn't stop how she wants you to learn.
All we did in class was work on these worksheets that weren't very helpful and she barely lectured. You are expected to teach yourself the information before class and then practice it in class, which just wasn't helpful to me. Not very approachable, and has to curve most of her tests so the failing rate isn't that horrific, her tests are HARD.
Must teach yourself almost everything. Expect little to no lecture/instruction
Honestly, I think she is a great professor. She does give a lot of homework, but it is truly needed for the class. A lot of group work and review of the homework. She tried to make sure everyone passes the class and she pays attention to who needs help.
I never had a professor this bad. I felt lost because she doesnt lecture. In all honestly she shouldnt be teaching. She doesnt care if you pass or fail (said it first day of class). Test arent during class so be prepared to come in at 6pm on a random night to take the test.. avoid this professor at all cost. Shes really that bad of a professor
She does not teach AT all. She expects you to have a working knowledge of material from the textbook alone, so if reading comprehension isn't your strong suit, DO NOT take any of her classes. Attendance is mandatory which is ridiculous, because all you do in class is worksheets. VERY heavy hw load on an erratic schedule so check hw dates CONSTANTLY
This is a FLIPPED CLASSROOM. What that means is that you are suppose to go over the material BEFORE class. If you arent prepared to do that, dont take her. Shes a good teacher and if you have questions just ask her in class or go to her office hours. Shes ALOT nicer in her office. Go to LA office hours too. Take notes from the LearnSmarts, itl help
Great professor, iClicker quiz at the start of class, works problems out with class, minimal lecture, has LAs to help as well during group working time, exams are tough but if you do all the work from the workbook and do the LS work on Connect you will do good. If you want to learn and gain experience take this class. 10/10 class structure.
Yes, this class is very difficult but you MUST put in the effort. She is very accessible outside of class and is more then willing to help you in whatever you need. Show her you care and are trying and she'll give you 110%. This class is worth taking because she wants you to be confident in your chemistry skills. I would highly recommend her!
I think she is a great professor and her lectures helped me understand the material better than before. She is very helpful and patient during her office hours and she wants you to understand the material. She does not want you to fail and gives a lot of extra credit opportunities, which is greatly appreciated. I would like to take her for Chem 2.
She Do NOT LECTURE!!! you have to teach yourself. She sometimes do not have a clue what she's doing the class sometime show her the mistakes she made. Her test is hard and you do not know what to study because she do not lecture. lots of online homework and quizzes . DO NOT TAKE HER!!
No lecture! Awful professor. Do not take her.
I took chemistry before and I am glad I took this professor now, I feel prepared for Chem 2. she cares about her students passing. The class is difficult but she offers a lot of help, she is accessible at any time of the day you can look for her in her office of around the Chem department and she will help you. AWESOME AND LOVES TO TEACH
Dr. Delgado is an amazing teacher. I took her summer A and even though I had not taken Chemistry since high school she explained everything so well that I understood everything. You have to read before coming to class since it is an active learning course but it helps you better understand everything. Take her!
Dr. Delgado is not a bad professor, but in chemistry you cant expect for the class to do well when you have to teach yourself. No lecture, HW Heavy, super disorganized, if we can't follow along because she went to quickly she talks about how she has her degrees and we don't. Not approachable. Treats class as if we were in elementary. LAs LifeSavers
Worst teacher ever. Don't take her. there is no lecture.
She doesn't lecture, it's a class where you are expected to learn the material before coming in. She curves all her tests and gives a lot of extra credit. I went from a mid B to an A with all the extra credit. As long as you do everything else, you can get between 70's and 85's on the tests to get an A.
If you want to pass Chemistry take another professor. She expects you to basically teach yourself everything. There's a two question quiz before every class on the material that she did NOT teach. The tests are ridiculous, the only thing that MAY help students is aleks. Good Luck!
You're expected to learn and practice with Aleks and Connect. But work is very manageable. Class is for clicker questions and worksheets, which she goes over and clarifies any other topics. I find her explanations very easy. Grades are only HW completion + exams. Lots of simple extra credit. Gives study guides + reviews that mirror the exams.
i hate this proessor already. the first week of school she's assigning ton of aleks hw and mind you I'm new to this whole thing so I'm trying to familiarize myself with aleks and the on top of that she gives you quizzes every class time you meet lord have mercy.
Difficult tests. Lots of HW to counteract the tests. I wouldn't recommend her
This class does really take a lot of your time in school, but shes definitely one of the best professors at FIU. Yes, shes strict but Ill promise youll learn a lot by taking her. Her explanations are super clear and close to what you have on exams. Just keep up with HW and go to class!
I've taken Delgado twice and gotten an A both classes but this workload is inhumane and impossible to keep up when you have 4 other classes. No lecture, just going over problems in class. Forces you to sit with other students who help you pass more than anything else in this course. If you want to take this proff, beware of the loads of HW.
Ive had her for chem 1 and chem 2. If youre not the type of person who is on top of your learning... look for a different professor. Work load is out of this world. She is fake btw and pretends to care. She likes when ppl kiss up to her. Her LAs are scared of her. Whether or not you pass depends on you having a good group. I learned a lot tho.
Truly the best professor anyone could have for chemistry, you just have to work for it. Clearly this is college #GrowUp
Great Professor! If you really want to understand chemistry. You have to put a lot of time and effort to understand the topics. If you can do that youll do great.
She thinks students are only taking her class...
The classroom is flipped so she makes you do workbook pages and learn the chapter before class. Clicker questions every class, where you get points for answering the question and an extra point for getting it right. Also, exams are a big part of the grade so really study using the workbook, ALEKS, and the review and practice test. A good professor.
Other reviewers are right, she is not approachable at all. Also, her syllabus is more of a suggestion than anything else. Don't even bother writing in your calendar hw or exams as she will change stuff around with short notice. Make sure you go to class because apparently communicating through email is too much for her. Never again.
She doesn't teach in the traditional manner. You are put in groups and work out of a workbook. The workbook has the same style of questions like those that'll be on the tests. There's two pop quizzes and three tests. She gives extra credit but it's based on attendance and participation. Overall, great professor, definitely recommend.
She breaks down the material & tries to get you to understand at an easier level than other profs.I failed CHM 1 my first semester taking it and I took Professor Delgado the second time and besides the fact that I had some background knowledge on the subject, she made me understand things i never understood the previous semester and more in depth.
Mixed feelings, she has very good intentions and she's caring. Concepts are "dumbed down" to a point that for those passionate for science it can be confusing. Tests are harder than the homework and they carry most of the weight. Lectures are slow but they do help. Don't skip, don't cram, learn at home and come ready to resolve your questions.
HOMEWORK HEAVY BUT she's great! Delgado takes her time to explain concepts and her TAs are always available at the lab for free tutoring sessions. Thought I was not going to pass, but I'm now finishing off with an A! :) Taking her for CHM1046 next semester!
There are four tests in this class (the final counts as two) and the tests in this class are worth 75% of your grade... Theres also a lot of homework on ALEKS (an online platform), which requires a lot of time to complete. Meet with the TAs, watch online videos, and study really hard and you will pass.*
Shes HORRIBLE. This woman will disrespect you in your face, has zero patience and doesnt want to her job. She has zero lectures and will not go over anything in class. You show up to class to listen to whatever changes she randomly makes up or take CONSTANT clicker quizzes that she takes way too seriously. Do not take her
extremely rude, not understanding at all, does not care about her students at all
DO NOT TAKE HER LABS. They alone have made college the worst experience of my life; I've received As in every class besides for hers. Her 1 credit lab requires more effort than all of my other classes per semester combined. My TA in Chem 1 did not provide me with the support or feedback necessary to succeed in Chem 2. ALEKS is a literal nightmare.
Dr. Delgado has a unique teaching style that I have never seen before. Her class consists of you learning the topic and then her going over it in class. Will be placed in groups after every exam. 3 exams and one final that are all worth 75 percent of your grade. Don't take her if you didn't have a good background in chem in high school.
Don't even think about taking her for lab. It's a 1 credit class and their "rubric" is extremely strict. Her labs are worded so poorly. Currently in the middle of a pandemic and they are still being a pain in the ass with grading. TA's are not helpful at all. 8 page handwritten experiments and u will never get higher than a B. TAKE LAB AT MMC!!!!!!
I took her laboratory only. It is insane how much work its required for a 1 credit lab. The lab takes too much time, wont finish it during class so, youll sit outside to do, if its turned in 30 mins late than you get a late grade. The grading criteria is ludacris, she will deduct points for nothing. This lab should be cut shorter or be worth more.
Does not know how to run a laboratory department. Unreal. Avoid like the plague. So relieved when it was over.
Only good thing is she curves your grade tremoundously!!! Study your ass off expect no teaching so make good connects with TA and classmates Tests are 30questions hard if you study you can get a decent grade fail one test and its a wrap for you RIP grade Aleks are a nightmare she gives way to much work for a chem 1
I came in late one time for lab for chem 2 and said oh sorry and she told me not a good semester so I said no and she told me to learn for next semester took my prelab and walked away.
I changed one of my volume numbers for chem 2 and she walked away dramatically and came back in to tell me that what I did was immoral. She then proceeded to give me a 0 for that lab that I almost spend 3 hours trying to do. When I redid it (6 hours), she took points off. In the meeting she told me that she could have reported me for cheating.
DO NOT take this professor if you like to hear a lecture. She makes you take clicker questions at the beginning of each class and then puts questions on the board for you to do in your groups. and If you did not understand the excessive amount of homework.. good luck trying to figure out how to do them because she wont tell you. had to teach myself
If you dont want to be confused dont take her she makes mistakes all over her practice tests and on actual tests too
I would not advise taking this professor because she makes mistakes in her own exams, and she almost never wants to help you to make your grade better. Also, the questions in real exams are absolutely different from the practice exams, that's why you don't know what to expect.
Do not take her if you like your sanity! The ALEKS is extremely long and very concept heavy. Exams are difficult and have many mistakes. She doesnt lecture expects you to study material before hand and has you work on problems and clicker questions. Her labs are the WORST! You will spend an extra hour after each class writing your report!
This is the worst professor at FIU. I don't know why they don't fire her because most people in my class did not pass. Attendance is mandatory and there are worksheets due before each class, iClicker questions, ALEKS assignments, and honor lock tests. Class Is super hard and she makes it super complicated and does not know how to teach chem. DO NOT
Dr. Delgado knows her stuff. Sure the class is not the easiest but that is General Chemistry in general and it will only get harder from here. After all my semesters at FIU I have learned more in her class than in any other. However, to do well you HAVE to put in the work. Understand the concepts, don't just try to Chegg your way through everything
Dr Delgado really knows her stuff. I dont really like chemistry but her class is great and her LAs are really helpful. I would take another class with her for sure.
There are no lectures for the material, only practice questions with little explanation. Tutoring is almost a must. Most of the grade is tests.
Dr. Delgado is just amazing and her class organization is just incredible too. The only thing she cares is to make you to learn the material in the best way possible. She is just amazing Ivy League level professor, FIU should just feel lucky to have Dr Delgado as a professor here.
DONT TAKE this lab with her, the TA's are cool but suck honestly, The class is pre lab, lab and post all done once a week. Her Lab Manual is the most trash thing ever written. what's versus to what needs to be done is like wrong 30% of the time and like 60% of what's in their is poorly written and makes no sense. There are so may errors in it (1/2)
The Manual will confuse u a lot and the TA's don't help much only explain things. This lady and the TA's are Hella harsh and strict with quizzes and labs, The first quiz was only available for 30 min while I was in another class, i asked for an extension in class they said sorry to late. They are so harsh with grading yet take 5 years to give 2/3
How can I improve my grade if you take forever to give feedback on my lab report. Constant mistakes happened so many i cant even remember, Honestly alot were the TA's fault but i blame Delgado as she runs it and it sucks. We all had C's and got bumped to B's or kept the grade, not one person had an A in the class. the best advice is GO TO MMC 3/3
I took her summer class and it honestly was not that bad at all. We had to read the ebook, do the aleks and playposits, and do the hw before class. In class is where we practice what we learned and ask questions. Understandably its a bit fast-paced. As long as you put effort and take the time to really grasp the material, you'll do perfectly fine.
Do yourself a favor and take chemistry 2 lab at MMC. Professor Delgado makes you buy her lab manual which contains the experiments you will be doing, and honestly the way it is written is CONFUSING. Also, for some reason, professor Delgado requires you to handwrite each and every one of your lab reports which is extremely time consuming.
As an usual lab, be prepared to spend a lot of time doing the pre labs and post-labs. For the pre labs you just have to paraphrase the lab manual. I have taken lab at MMC and I consider that the grading criteria at BBC is not as harsh. There's an online quiz before class, but if you do the study guide you'll have the answers.
Hardest professor I've had in the previous two years at FIU. Rude to students, not worth the stress for homework she does not even teach beforehand. Would not recommend this professor to anyone, as someone who is very attentive during class and is always studying, the professor makes everything so much harder making it a bad experience.
I liked taking Delgado's class. She would go through workbook problems during class and the TA's would walk around to help you. There was Iclicker questions, aleks (which is really time consuming), workbook pages, and playposits for her class. Exams are worth 75% of your grade but her study guides are her exams from the previous semester.
AVOID her like the plague. She does not lecture and has horrible, rude attitude. Take Graves at MMC. Avoid this professor if you actually want to learn Chem.
I don't know why she has so many bad ratings. She is genuinely such a good professor and does care about everyone learning. It might seem like a lot of work at the beginning but once you understand how the workbook and the ALEKS works, it is a very easy class.
I personally did not find this course to be too difficult. She assigns multiple assignments every week (PlayPosits, ALEKS, etc.) and it can be a lot but it's very helpful. She'll post PDF practice exams a week before each exam. Be sure to study those and you'll be golden. Her TAs are amazing as well so be sure to ask them any question you have.
Great teacher, reinforces the material in class and you have a group to work with. The TAs are awesome and cool. The teacher is good at what she does. There are ALEKs assignment which are annoying but kinda helpful. 3 tests and a final.
If you want to LEARN chemistry, take Dr.Delgado. Yes she's tough, you'll have work for your grade but trust me when I say you'll know it cold! I recently took my examination for optometry school and I barely had to study for the general chemistry section because of how strong my foundation was.
If you have a tight schedule do not take this, you will find yourself spending 3+ hours a week doing an aleks assignment that is even more difficult than the test. The playposits and videos are your only way of learning since there is no lecture, only group exercises. I wasted my time going to class since everything was being learned at home.
Professor Delgado is a flipped classroom so prepare to learn at home. She is very good at answering questions. LA's are a big help in the class so become friends with them. Chem 2 is a difficult class no matter who you take it with so prepare to study no matter what. Delgado always has pracitce tests to help. Very good professor and very caring.
This class is definitely not easy you have to study alot, It's mainly group activity and problem based, you do practice problems in class, it is not very lecture oriented. You have to spend alot of time studying outside of class to get results, the class is curved and there are 3 tests and a final.Practice tests for each exam are also given.
What you mostly do is practice in class along with your group while she and the TAs go around helping and explaining. It does require for you to learn by yourself at times and ALEKS can be annoying. Overall I really liked her and you can tell she cares just show that your trying. Take her if you want to learn but it is not an easy A.
I took this course in the 6 week course so things were more fast paced. Be aware this is a flipped class so manage your time well. Also if you can talk to the LAs and Delgado not only in class but also office hours to review. Dr. D really does care you just have to put your part in. *Personal opinion: easier than chem 1 *
Professor Delgado's class is challenging but rewarding. The focus is on group work and practice problems, which can be time-consuming but effective. While ALEKS assignments are frustrating, unstuckstudy ai proved helpful for exam prep. Overall, a tough but worthwhile class if you're willing to put in the work.
Dr Delgado sets a very strong foundation in chemistry 1 for every other chemistry class you'll ever need to take.
Be prepared to watch lots of videos and do lots of homework
Professor Delgado is very nice during her office hours but is not that welcoming to questions during class. I never felt comfortable asking questions during lecture. 3 midterms and 1 final, all multiple choice and similar to practice tests. The final does not replace lowest grade. Chem 2 is hard!!!!! but you can pass if you study!
Will learn a lot but it's not easy to pass. You have to earn ur grade. 3 exams + 1 final, no quizzes. Lots HW = workbook problems + ALEK + Playposits. Need to make time for this class, don't take it if u are not willing to go to BBC at least 2x a week and spend 3+ hours learning chem and doing HW. Utilize the resources offered, essential to pass!
Flipped classroom where you watch videos and read from the textbook at home, then do group activities in class with help from TA's and the prof. Not very lecture-heavy. The group actually made learning the content more bearable, so the class wasn't that bad.
Terrible professor, if you have no other classes for the semester, perfect class for you. Claims to care about seeing progress throughout the class however offers little to no help for those trying to pass. Failed all tests relying on her but aced exams studying on my own. Does not reply to emails, would honestly prefer taking Swamy than Delgado.
Lots of work done outside of class (Aleks, PlayPosit, workbook pages). IClicker problems done in class for participation. She does more practice than lectures. You have to sit in groups but it helps to learn the material. Delgado is not as welcoming but the LAs are very helpful. If you do not live on BBC, be ready to make time for the commute.
she's amazing but i was fighting for my life. i did chem 2 during summer a i would not recommend for the weak. she is a great professor, i would say she's one of the best gen chem professors at fiu. she explains things very well but she will make you work for the answers. just do honest work and study and you'll do good in the class.
Not very welcoming but she's an ok professor. She explains the concepts well during lectures which is mainly practice, not really lecturing. Tests are dependent on the study guides and you showing up. Lots of homework. Just show up, do your homework, and go to the LA reviews for the EC, you'll do okay. I'm just lazy.
My biggest issue is her LAs and TAs. Her male TAs that run CHM1045L have strong biases towards the male students and often express micro aggressions to girls that accumulate over time but aren't outwardly rude enough that you can report them to anyone.
