I think this was his 1st year teaching @PCC. Took AJ010 & AJ012 w/him & both were great! Solid guy that wasn't afraid to be down to earth w/students. Has a lot of police experience & used it in the classroom with lectures. Even boring topics were fun to listen to. I will take him again! I've heard a lot of students raving about him at PCC!
First time taking Ayers and I'm glad I did. I want to work in law enforcement and he motivates me to pursue my dream. I hate school, but I never wanted to miss his class. He teaches in a way that you learn, not just memorize. Makes you think and understand the big and little picture. Will definitely take his classes again.
Overrated and unreasonable professor. Take the class with someone else. Easy A but he's terrible at teaching.
Horrible professor and left day as soon as possible without a single shred of regret. Probably one of the best decisions was to drop this class. One class that was overhyped unnecessarily in school. If I could give it a score of 0, I would do so without hesitation.
Great Professor! Shared real-life experiences combined with course made for a great class. I will definitely take his classes again. Makes material easy to understand even when some of it is complicated.
Loved this professor!! You can tell he really loves teaching and getting you to understand. Makes you think about things in a different way, not only with AJ stuff but with life too. I wish he taught math also. lol. Great teacher and I will definitely take him next semester.
I highly recommend this teacher. He uses real life situations you can relate to to help you understand. This was a very exciting class. I never wanted to be absent. He is a good role-model as well as teacher and I learned a lot about life too. I will take his classes again.
Hands down the best AJ instructor I've taken at PCC!! Puts things in scenarios so students can see in real life how things work. Tests and quizzes build on each other so as long as you take them all you will be fine. Great lectures and videos. We watched police videos and broke them down in the concepts that we were learning. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.
I absolutely loved this professor! The only class out of my 5 that I truly enjoyed and learned. He does not make it hard to do well but keeps it funny and interesting. I took this class with my friend and she & I loved it! If you have a problem with this professor then you are probably the problem because everyone in class loved him!
This was my 1st AJ class and I was amazed! The teacher made me love this subject and Im thinking about going into law enforcement. He made me look at life , education, and criminal justice in a whole new way. I recommend this professor very highly! Best teacher Ive had, hands down. I cant wait to take his class again.
I had a good solid A- in the class up until the final. Wouldnt let me type my multiple questions in no matter what and i couldn't refresh bc that would submit the test. and i contacted him with VIDEO PROOF that the letters would not type and all he had to say was " you are the only one reporting this everyone was fine" not considering my grade...
I love this guy! He brings things down to earth in real-life terms. Had me laughing the entire semester. Sad that I'm leaving the school because I would have taken more of his classes. He has a lot of police experience so he gives you both the educational side of things and the street side of things. Definitely take this professor if you can!
My fav AJ professor! Take him, you wont regret it!
Professor Ayers explains the material very well. He relates his lectures from his own experience. All the quizzes and tests are based on the reading. It's simple, read, and understand the material, and you will get an A. For online, he records his lectures and uploads them along with reading material.
Awesome instructor!! Brings things to life so they make sense and are understandable. Take this professor if you can.
This guy has a unique way of breaking things down so that they make sense. The examples he gives from his experience on the force really makes you understand the concepts. I love the way he dispels a lot of myths that people have about the subject matter. He makes you critically think so that you are able to analyze the information and understand.
Milan Ayers is without a single shred of doubt, probably the MOST OVERRATED professor and the worst professor Ive had. The praises that are given to him are largely misrepresentation of how bad this guy really is. The ratings here are extremely skewed! Take Donald Gallon instead! Professor Gallon is a much better professor ten times out of ten!
Terrible! Extremely overrated and probably the worst professor in the entire Pasadena City College. Do NOT take this class if you value your time and education because itll be a waste of taking it here since his class is practically a joke! Worst professor Ive ever had in my entire college education.
Great instructor! Is very understanding of current corona virus and gives you all week to complete assignments, reading, etc. Makes you think from different viewpoints. I'm learning a lot in his class. Anyone rating him low must have a personal ax to grind, because he is great and I will take his classes again.
I read some bad reviews on here and some good, more good than bad so I took his class. So far I am enjoying the class. I'm learning and he makes you think outside of the norm once you have knowledge of the laws. His lectures are easy to understand and his grading is fair and not overly difficult like some AJ instructors. Great instructor!
This professor wasn't my cup of tea. SO strict on deadlines and his weird posts had oddly specific criteria too (e.g. not allowed to delete or edit posts). COVID exists. Life happens. I was one day late for a discussion but I got absolutely no credit despite replying to others and genuinely trying. Dropped my grade by 15%, so I dropped the class.
Nothing more than an overrated clown and the worst academic instructor in the field of Criminal Justice anywhere in the United States.
Don't take this clown if you care about your education. There are plenty of other professors in the Administration of Justice departments that are extremely talented and excel at teaching the material.
Literally only took this class for a GE but was more pretentious than any other class I had to take for my major. His instructions are ridiculous and too specific, I got half points taken out of my intro discussion post cause it was an HOUR late, and I've gotten multiple points taken out of quizzes cause his typed answers are too specific.
His class is mostly just discussion posts and short quizzes that are based on the recorded lectures. When he posts a discussion please read the directions because if you don't follow them precisely he'll take off points. Overall, his class wasn't bad because we didn't meet over zoom and his jokes in the lectures were kinda funny.
I saw bad ratings here but I saw good too so took his class. Ive taken 3 other AJ instructors and by far he is the best. These people saying bad things seem full of excuses because NOTHING he required was out of the ordinary for a college student. Maybe too much for a brat in middle school but not a college student. GREAT PROFESSOR! Take his class!
Reading these comments on this professor made me laugh! If you cannot pass his class you dont deserve to be in college. He gave 100s of chances to make up missed quizzes even after I missed some because I just forgot to take them. Most compassionate professor Ive ever seen. I wish he taught English, Pol Sci, Math, you get what I mean.
Professor Ayers is very passionate about policing and the community. Great teacher, and always available to answer questions. Not a hard grader at all. Only class I actually looked forward to doing online because he made it super interesting.
Not hard to get a good grade in his class. He has pretty straightforward lectures and does not make you buy an expensive book. Short quizzes make up your grade and discussions. Has a mid-term and final that are made up of the quizzes. Gave a lot of chances to make up quizzes if you missed them. Great professor and I will take him again.
The test's are extremely difficult and the class was community relations and was mostly made about race and police shootings in the black community where you have to post your thoughts publicly for everyone to see.
Great class to take. Made up of discussions and quizzes for your grade. Easy class but still real interesting. Great professor that I'll take again!! I see a lot of haters on here that I do not understand, he was very understanding and not hard at all.
Looked thru the ratings b4 I took his class (I had him for 2 classes this semester). The 1s all seemed real personal so I looked at the majority of the others and signed up. Glad that I did... great teacher that helped so much in & out of the classroom. He answers his emails within minutes! lol His classes were fun, interesting, easy grader too.
I read some of the ratings on here and Im shocked. Ive taken him for 3 classes and hes the most easygoing professor Ive had. Simple quizzes & discussions to participate in. If you cant do well in this guys class you must be looking to get a grade for doing NOTHING. Easiest A Ive ever gotten AND still learned. Do the simple work & get an A.
One of my favorite professors I've had at PCC. Loved his lectures, he was awesome and uploaded them for us to watch at our own pace, and he cracks jokes and keeps the lectures light. Quizzes relied on the lectures and free textbook, they were kinda hard but if you watched the lectures and took notes you'll be fine. Would take again, 10/10
My favorite professor, hands down. Really funny and explains in ways that you can understand. He lets you work at your time/place and has everything you need on canvas. Gave lots of resources and advice in life in and out of the classroom. I will most definitely retake him.
Professor Ayers is by far my favorite professor. He's taught me so much about law and law enforcement but he's also super understanding as long as you communicate with him. He's gone above and beyond for me and I honestly wish I could take him for all my AJ classes.
AMAZING I have taken a lot of courses at PCC and I truly believe Professor Ayers is the ONLY professor that actually cares about you learning the subject. I am going to miss his classes. He is the nicest and most respectable person I have ever met. Even gave advice of life outside of the topics in the class. The best around!
What an amazing professor. His lectures are never boring and I actually look 4ward 2 going 2 his class. He tells you what is on the test which is really helpful. He is a genuinely nice and funny guy and I would 100% take him again if I could. Probably one of my favorite professors.
HE IS AMAZING. OH MY GOD, HE IS FANTASTIC. Stories you will enjoy. VERY nice and very understanding. Will give you chances to higher your grade if you are not satisfied.
I enjoyed the class. I was actually sad when it was over and had wished I didn't take it as an 8-week class. He has a lot of real-world experience, which helps to bring the subject matter to life.
By far this is my favorite professor. He uses real scenarios to help you remember and learn. He is very funny and you can tell he really cares about the students and the subject. Very passionate professor and I would 100% take his classes again.
Definitely my favorite professor! Will always take his class! I highly recommend him.
I loved this professor's lectures. He explains things very well and is very entertaining and funny. I liked the way he used real life cases to make the points. Weekly, short quizzes, a mid term and final made up the grade. Easy but informative class and I will definitely take him again. I highly recommend him!
Favorite professor, by far! Never have I enjoyed taking a class more than this. Teaches you to see things from every angle. Highly recommend!
Do not take him if you care about your education. Probably the worst professor in the entire state of California when it comes to higher education.
AWESOME Professor! Great stories and role-play during class. Easy quizzes on the chapters. I learned so much from his class. Would definitely take him again. He does not make you buy a book. He provides all the materials free.
My favorite professor so far. Really good lectures and you do not have to buy a textbook. He is very reasonable.
I would highly recommend to take this professor. Easy grader, but make sure you follow exactly what he asks, and exactly how he wants his work done. If you mess up it would really hurt your grade, but if you follow rubric you should be able to easily get full credit.
Easiest class ever! You just have to follow his instructions to the dot and youll pass with an A.
Easy going Professor and very good at explaining the subjects. Very funny and entertaining lectures.
Very good at explaining and does not make everything extremely hard like other professors.
Super easy class, but I actually learned a lot. He makes it really funny and easy to understand.
This guy teaches great. He breaks everything down and relates it to real-life issues and current events so it makes sense. He is real funny too. Very easy course!
Best online course I have had so far. This dude cracks me up but he is real smart and can explain things so you get it. Real easy grader too.
Professor Ayers is decent. I'm taking him for an online class. He gives a clear grading criteria and if you don't do everything that is required of the assignment, you WILL get docked points. The reading he provides can be very long, but as long as you read and watch his lectures, you'll do fine. He drops your lowest quiz and discussion post.
Good lectures and doesn't make you buy textbooks. There are discussions that are pretty easy, you have to post by a certain date and then reply to two other people. There is a quiz after each section, and the quizzes put together make up the midterm and final. Easy course, but I still learned a lot. I would definitely take Prof. Ayers again.
Gives you a lot of ways to get a good grade. Drops the lowest quiz and discussion grade & gives extra credit. Pretty straightforward grading, listen to the lectures and read the material, and the quizzes, midterm, and final are easy. Learned a lot in his class and will retake him.
Definitely read his rubric on every assignment because he is a really tough grader. He is not afraid to dock points if the assignments are not completed like he asked for. Very picky.
It's a very easy course. Quizzes, discussions (great topics), mid-term, & final. It was a really straightforward course with good recorded lectures. The discussions are simple: answer the questions and have the minimum word count. Definitely will take all the courses he teaches.
Easy A. He knows a lot about LE. Typical online stuff like quizzes & discussions. Write a post, reply to two others, etc Has clear and easy grading guidelines and funny lectures.
THE WORST!! I've taken may classes at PCC and by far this man was the most uncaring and uncommunicative professor I've had. Maybe it was the online class format, but he was the worst.
Very poor instructor. Everything is canned. He is an terrible online instructor.
Very clear "by-the-book" kinda guy. As long as you carefully read the instructions for every assignment and meet what's being asked, you will succeed. He is a fair grader. He once gave me the wrong grade for an assignment, but I reached out and explained with screenshots, and he quickly righted his wrong. Overall, pretty good, but not my favorite.
Very easy grader! If you follow the simple instructions, the discussions are easy. He posts his lectures, which are engaging and funny. I would definitely take him again, my favorite online instructor. He drops your lowest quiz and discussion scores, and he gives you two attempts at the quizzes, and you can also take them late.
I have taken several classes with Professor Ayers, and he was awesome!! I like how he incorporates personal experiences into his lectures, making the class interesting. I took 2 of his courses online and the other 2 in person, but I enjoyed them all. The lectures are pretty straightforward, too. One of the best professors I've ever had :)
Professor Ayers is the greatest! He is really caring and its easy to get an A. He provides everything you need to get a good grade. Lectures are really interesting and funny and he has a lot of experience in law enforcement. My favorite Professor by far!
Great professor and really funny. Was always available and answered emails very quickly. Easy grading criteria and gives two chances on every quiz. He also drops your lowest quiz and discussion score to help your grade.
It's an Easy A if you read the text and watch the lectures. I took his class online, and it was by far my easiest class. He drops your lowest quiz and discussion scores to help your grade.
Has great pre-recorded lectures. watch them and read the text he provides, and you will do fine on the tests. has lots of Law Enforcement experience. Make sure you read the instructions for discussion points bc he will dock you if you don't follow the instructions. Most people don't read the instructions and then wonder why they get docked points.
The course is well-organized, the lectures are well-detailed, and the texts are easy to read. There are weekly timed quizzes, but they are short, just read the text, listen to the lecture, and take notes you will be fine. There weren't a lot of discussion posts but read the instructions thoroughly. Overall easy A, I recommend his courses.
Grade based solely on quizzes and midterm + final exam, but Professor Ayers is really understanding and wants yall to get a good grade. :)
You're mainly graded on your test. He gives clear grading criteria and gives you two chances on every quiz except for the final and midterm. I would definitely take him again.
He's a terrible professor through and through! Do not take him if you care about your education. He's got a poor attitude that reflects poorly as an educator. Gives the worst lectures and will not remain accountable if he was to screw things up. Worst professor in higher educational system across US!
Class starts at 10:30, came in 10:30 and marked me late. Not sure how that works provided the context
Milan Ayers is a great Professor. I loved his class and his lectures were never boring. He has clear grading requirements so there's no secret how to get a good grade. This was the 3rd class of his I have taken and I will take him again if possible. He gives you two chances on each quiz and lets you take them late. He also drops your lowest score
What else can you say that goes synonymous with the term unprofessional. He's very dismissive, doesn't answer questions clearly, won't help even if you ask for clarification, and just overall, terrible. I wish I never met this guy and took a class with him. Goes to show that the ratings are skewed by long shot in some. Just all around awful.
He is a great professor. You have to take one test every week and one written assignment every other week. His lectures are entertaining and as long as you watch the lectures and read the reading, you should do fine in his class.
Easy A, funny lectures and easy reading makes a great class. Dropped lowest quiz and discussion to help your grade. Don't have to buy any books.
Easy to understand things the way he puts them. I learned a lot in his class and will take him again. Doesn't make things too hard. I had some personal problems and he was very understanding...
SUPER EASY PROF! Took AJ10 and AJ12 with him, and each week is just 1 multiple-choice quiz (ranges from 20-40 questions, midterm/final is 50). Answers can be found easily in the modules. He gives 2 attempts for each quiz except the midterm/final. I legit spent 10 minutes a week on his classes lol. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR AN EASY A!!!
he is such a nice and genuine professor. his lectures are really interesting and he helps you get a good understanding on the material. I have taken multiple courses with him and I definitely recommend taking your AJ courses with him. He gives you one test per week and you have two chances per test.
Super easy grader. Quizzes are easy and they combine to make the midterm and final. Easiest A I have ever gotten. Don't get me wrong, you learn alot, but he doesnt make it hard like other professors.
Easy class and easy A. Watch the lectures (not boring) and read the text he assigns and not only get an A but actually learn. Fun class, great teacher.
