Extra credit through out the semester with quizzes, I must say if you study HARD, meaning 1.5 hours a day or more you do fine but you will learn a lot in order to do good. His tests are strict and to the last detail. I personally liked him but not his teaching style.
Dhameja is a cool, funny guy and I enjoyed going to lectures. His exams are super tough, and I had to study weeks in advance to get low B's. The exams are very specific depending on the chapter. I overall enjoyed his class, and when I went to office hours to go through my exams, he was helpful in explaining the questions I got wrong.
Dhameja has reignited what I enjoy about biology. He makes the material relatable and teaches in a way that actually helps you learn. Even though he doesn't take attendance, it is worth going to the lectures. I have taken so many bio classes and this is the first time I've actually retained information after the class is over.
DO NOT TAKE HIM FOR BIO243! Expects you to memorize every detail in his PowerPoints for the tests. Makes trick questions. He is the kind of teacher that makes none of the above the correct answer. Studied 15+ hours for every test and worked my literal ass off for a B+. Tests are impossible unless you like to spend every second of the day studying
good teacher for Bio 101. Makes the lectures pretty easy and gives you pretty much all the information you need to know to make a high B on the test with a decent amount of studying. Go to class, pay attention, study and you will do fine. Plus he gives easy quizzes that boost your grade.
One cool dude, he is an awesome lecturer. He often tells stories and gets side-tracked, its a tad bit aggravating at times but you will get through the material. The lab quizzes and tests are combined with the 4 lecture exam grades for Bio110. I would attend as much as possible because the exams can be difficult if you dont understand the notes.
Dhameja is a good teacher and makes BIO101 as fun as possible. He really cares about his students. The tests are kind of difficult, but are manageable if you study hard enough. There is a ton of extra credit from in class quizzes, my grade went up a whole letter grade because of them.
Dhameja is a great professor who really wants you to learn the material. Attendance is not mandatory, but always go to class because he gives lots of great examples to add to your notes and you can turn in quizzes for extra credit. Workbook is the only thing used and the test questions are all from the workbook.
Your final grade is determined by 4 exams with the final exam being optional if you want it to replace your lowest exam score. He did have a few extra credit assignments and quizzes that are only counted if it helps your grade. All the info you need for the exams are on the powerpoint so I only came in to class 25% of the semester. Easy A
I would definitely recommend taking Dhamja's class. He is very knowledgable and really wants his students to understand the material. This is not a gimme class, you have to study the powerpoints a lot to make a decent grade. Though his questions are very specific, every answer is on the powerpoints, he isn't trying to trick you. an attainable A!
Dhameja is a great professor! He cares about his students and is willing to explain materials over and over again. He is highly knowledgeable and continued to amaze me through his lectures. His exams are difficult but this is a college-level course after all. He also gives a reasonable amount of chances for extra-credit!
The only problem I had with this class was staying on topic. Most of the time it wasnt too bad, but other times hed start teaching about Freud or Batman rather than DNA for half of class. Besides that though, he was very friendly, the exams werent too hard, and there was a ton of extra credit.
Professor Dhameja is a very easy going teacher. He gives so much extra credit and no homework. I found it hard to pay attention in class so beware of that. Attendance not mandatory, I missed a lot of classes and ended with a B+. You will need to study for his exams.
Professor Dhameja is a tenure teacher at USC for research. His lack of understanding for the English language limits his ability to be an effective teacher for anatomy and physiology. Some of the slides In his powerpoint were so disorganized I actually had to rearrange his slides to understand them. I found myself asking other professors for help.
(PART 1) TAKE him for 101 & 102! I didn't have to take the final b/c I had over a 100 with all the extra credit. He's a very nice guy, very approachable. You have to study for the exams. It's normally MC w/ fill in the blank. Study as if the whole test is fill in the blank, and you're golden! Loved his lectures - pretty entertaining & informative.
(PART 2) For a more detail-oriented class like 243/244, take him, but since he gives a lot of analogies, sometimes it may get a little confusing. Also, with his exams being specific from notes, students find these classes challenging (I sat in the class). If you really studied/you're a genius-A. If you tried-C/B. Rest-fail. That's the scenario.
He is a great professor if you are willing to teach yourself a little bit. I went to class 75% of the time and studied for hours and I got a B. He gives a lot of extra credit but if you don't know every part of the book, you might not pass his tests.
Thick accent. Can get off topic easily. Uses a lot of analogies to explain. While i wouldn't classify him as an amazing professor, his class isn't difficult and his grading policy makes it easy to keep an A.
Dhameja is really hard to understand with his thick accent. When you ask a question he'll answer it with words you wont understand. He is awful and goes off topic all the time, you're never sure if what hes talking about is testing material. Take any professor but him!!!
Funny guy with easy-to-follow notes, however he does get off topic in everyclass and discusses things that have nothing to do with biology. His tests were not difficult if you studied, and attendance was not mandatory.
A very straightforward profesor whom does not require you to show up to class. His lectures goes off topic very frequently. Test contain everything from the book. If you are religious he talks against religion oftenly, but is still a nice and somewhat funny.
Dr. Dhameja is the best professor I have ever had. He makes lecture so interesting and teaches in a circle. He will never go over one thing once. He explains things so well and does everything to make sure you understand. Don't play on your laptop or phone during lecture. Just sit there and listen to lecture and study A LOT outside of class.
Dhameja is a great teacher, he makes the lectures interesting and gives good examples for the material being taught. He is test heavy but the learning outcome is worth it, especially for an introductory course.
A much more difficult class than Biology 101, but still every opportunity to succeed. Lowest exam gets dropped completely which is super helpful. The lectures are relatively dry and the exams hardly ever stick to the syllabus. Extra credit is given for handing in quizzes at the end of class.
All his lectures are straight from the textbook, it is a must have. If you take it in Booker T do not sit in the back because he doesn't use a microphone and he talks fast and with a thick accent. He is very knowledgeable. The class is 4 exams and a final which is optional. You get extra credit for doing the bonus quizzes and evaluations.
Prof Dhameja is the BEST for Bio 110. All of the lectures are fun and he goes on tangents a lot, so don't expect to get a whole lot done but I LOVE how knowledgeable he is about biology. He drops your lowest exam and all of the quizzes in the back of your book are extra credit, it's impossible to fail unless you don't care at all! I recommend 10/10
while his lectures aren't the best, they do what they need to. The format for grading is pretty great though since he gives a ton of extra credit and he drops the lowest exam grade.
You basically just have to memorize powerpoints for the exams which can be tedious. He gives extra credit opportunities that are helpful and drops the lowest exam grade.
Dhameja is a very wonderful man who is kind hearted and WOW incredibly interesting and smart! He truly wants his students to learn. Therefore, his class IS hard! You must know is the concepts of the subject. If you do not understand he is very happy to explain. Only thing I did not enjoy is the tests seemed to veer off of his powerpoints.
Gives a ton of extra credit and drops lowest test grade, which is really helpful. Tests definitely require a lot of studying to do well, but he's really approachable and wants students to succeed. Attendance isn't mandatory, but he gives a lot of info and analogies during lecture that can be really helpful on tests.
Dhameja was a good professor. His tests can be a little tricky because he sometimes picks out the smallest detail to test. He often gets off topic during lecture and discusses things like poetry, why humans shouldn't eat meat, and videos that don't relate to class at all. Graded by 4 tests. Final optional. Gives extra credit often
Dhameja is an amazing teacher. He tells lots of stories during class and gets off track sometimes, but his stories are always fun. He repeats himself a lot and circles back which helps you recall information better. He gives out so many extra credit opportunities too. If you come to class every lecture, he might give you extra credit for it.
LOVE Professor Dhameja. Truly wants his students to pass and is very approachable. Aside from that his lectures are hilarious and fun, he doesn't expect you to come to every single class BUT it will help you immensely with tests. Final is optional and tons of extra credit is available within attendance. Highly recommend Professor Dhameja.
No textbook required besides a notebook w/ all of the slides, no homework, grades are based on exam but there are a ton of extra credit that you can earn. Attendance is not taken but it is beneficial to attend because he really emphasizes what you should know for the test. He will also often give example questions that he would ask on the exams.
TAKE THIS CLASS! Professor Dhameja is hilarious and the class is not difficult. Although attendance is not mandatory going to class is really helpful because he tells you more specifically what will and won't be on the exam. Also the final is optional which is nice.
Dhameja is hands down the best professor for Bio101, the lectures are long but he keeps them super interesting. There are also tons of extra credit opportunities and he seems very willing to help students that are struggling as long as they are putting in effort. Also attendance isn't mandatory!
Amazing professor! I took his class for 243 and 244, and he truly cares about his students. Lots of reading. No textbook necessary, he provides powerpoints. A tough class, but if you put in the work and go talk to him when you need help understanding lectures or exam review questions, he will help you. Awesome guy. Grades based on 4/5 exams
Extremely soothing voice. He tells all sorts of stories and anecdotes to relate the anatomy topics to real life examples. Teaches you all sorts on mnemonics to help you remember stuff. Its a hard subject but if you apply yourself and take his advice you will do well.
I love this guy and will definitely be taking him next semester!
Dhameja is an extremely unfair professor. The class consists of 4 tests in which he pulls the most random information out of his powerpoints to create the test. He knows early on who he like and who he doesn't like and there is a terrible atmosphere in his classroom.
Pretty easy class, just have to memorize the slides. No point in going to lecture. He just reads straight from the slide book you have. He did get mad at me one time for cleaning up water.
I personally did not enjoy Dhameja's teaching style. I felt he pushed his personal agenda too much and did not spend enough time teaching the material. I changed my schedule this semester to avoid taking genetics with him. If you memorize the slides you'll do fine on the exams, but you wont learn alot in the class. final is optional no homework
He makes lectures not as miserable and he offers a lot of extra credit. attendance isnt mandatory but in class he does tell u what will be on the test
Absolutely the best professor. Teaches from the lecture notebook and explains everything in much detail and writes things down alongside you.
Dhameja is the goat. He explains things very well and tries to make stories to go along with everything to make it easier to understand. If you go to class and pay attention, there isn't a reason you should not make an A!
Easy class. Lecture 3 days a week with no attendance taken. There are 4 tests and a final, he will drop the lowest of the 5, so the final is optional. There are 4 homework assignments total (one per test) & are online & wont let you move on until you get it right. he rambles in class, but is nice and smart. first 2 tests were in class, 2nd 2 online
Dhameja is an awesome professor, but you gotta know your stuff. He gives good analogies and will answer your questions. He is also super understanding. If you take this class use the modules and pre-exam as a test not a study guide and you'll do fine.
Class was just like basic high school biology. Our tests and final exam were on Blackboard, so they are easy to pass. Attendance is not mandatory, but he does give some test questions away in class. You need the textbook for the class.
Makes you work for the grade, but overall great professor. Pretty funny and really helpful and understanding during office hours. Tests come straight from PowerPoint slide book, but he goes more in depth and gives useful analogies to understand some concepts better. Tests are MC and fill in the blank. It's an easy A if you put in the effort.
Great teacher. Can't go wrong taking him.
Dhameja is one of the best professors I've ever had. He is super funny and keeps his lectures interesting. Also, he offers little ways to earn extra credit on exams and there is hardly any homework. I loved him so much that I am taking him again next semester for another course!
I would die for dhameja - attendance isn't mandatory so I went maybe once every two weeks to see where we were in the book. textbook is screenshots of powerpoint slides, and there is an EASY exam once a month, and he drops the lowest grade. the lab is extremely easy and its impossible to get lower than an A in his class - VERY easy going and funny
Dhameja makes lectures easy to come to. He connects the material to outside sources that can help you remember things for the test. You always know exactly whats on the test and he will give you examples of questions he could ask during lectures. You also have pre exam assessments and modules that are worth 33% of your grade &they're easy 100s .
Easily one of my favorite professors. Attendance wasn't mandatory and his lectures could get slightly boring at times, but he'd crack a joke here and there to make it tolerable. His exams aren't too difficult, nothing a little studying can't handle.
Dhameja is a pretty chill professor. He's willing to work with you on your grade if you can prove you care. He can get off topic pretty easily and goes on tangents but they're always entertaining. Lectures come straight from the book. Tests can be tricky so read the material several times.
Dhameja was a good professor. He was really funny and told lots of stories during lecture. The only thing is STUDY THE NOTES WORD FOR WORD. It is important to know conepts but most of his questions came from the notes. The fill in the blanks are specific and they come from the notes. His test were okay.
Professor Dhameja is a great teacher! I have taken 3 of his classes, and each semester he has demonstrated that he truly wants his students to learn and be sucessful! You do have to study hard for all of his tests, but if you do you will get the grade you want! I highly reccommend you take him if you can!
Dr. Dhameja is the best! I loved him so much I'm taking him for bio 102 next semester. His lectures are entertaining and he's a funny guy. His exams are very similar to the modules and pre-exam assessments.
Dr. Dhameja is the best! He truly understands a college students life and tries to take those things into consideration. If you do well on the first 4 test and like your grade you can exempt the final! The only homework for this class was the online modules and pre-exam assessments which most of the questions are also on the actual test.
Absolutely love Dhameja, had him for anatomy and retook him for genetics. He's so funny and his lectures are typically very entertaining. curves exams if he sees the class needs it, gives a ton of extra credit. Willing to work with the students. He's given EC for quizzes, participating in class, and take home packets. Favorite professor at USC
There are a lot of possible points so it makes it much easier to do well in his class. He took the best 4/5 exams so I did not have to take the final which was nice. Attendance is not required though he did randomly take attendance 4 times but I don't think it really did anything to our grades. Tests were difficult but obtainable if you study.
Can't recommend Dr. Dhameja enough. He is very clear as to what will be on exams, which make up 2/3 of your grade. He is very engaging and kind, and office hours are helpful. He really works to explain abstract concepts with imagery and analogies. I'll be taking him next semester for 102. Also, he's hilarious. Really likes X-Men.
Dhameja is hilarious and makes class interesting. Very straight forward as to what is on the exams just memorize the slides and youll be set. I never got below a 95 on any exam, and he also drops your lowest grade (or you dont have to show up to one of the exams, I didnt need to take the final) Not much hw. Cant wait to take him again next sem
I have never loved a man more. Sounds weird right? You'll understand once you take his class. He is not only the sweetest people I have ever met but also very educated and knows how to teach a class. His material is very clear and the class is a piece of cake as long as you try. Highly! Recommend!
Dhameja is awesome, I am not a big fan of sciences but he made BIO110 my favorite class last semester. He is clear and concise in all his lectures (his accent is not an issue at all) and is specific in telling you what will be on the exam. His lectures are fun and he is hilarious and entertaining, show up to lecture, take notes, get an A.
Hes a really sweet and funny professor. His lectures are funny and engaging even whenever biology isnt your favorite subject. Exams are straight from the textbook. Easy A.
The best professor for bio 101! I will be taking him again. He's just simply the best. Very educated, hilarious and sweet.
Very good prof. who cares about his students success. Is willing to work with you about grades and is very reasonable in general. Great guy would take a class taught by him again.
Prof. Dhameja is a really cool guy and seems like he really cares about his students and the subject material. He tells a lot of stories in class and often times you have to just read the material on your own to understand it, but his classes aren't super difficult. Study for the exams and do the modules and you'll be fine.
Dhameja is the best professor. His tests are kind of difficult because they have fill in the blank questions but hes funny and is very flexible
Dhameja is great for one semester, but his voice definitely puts you to sleep. You don't have to attend class, but he makes a lot of side notes that you will need in order to pass his exams. He gives online modules and assessments to do before the exam, so that helps a bit. His tests can be annoying specific and picky rather than general ideas.
Dhameja is amazing! Such a funny man. Attendance isn't mandatory, but I assure you you'll enjoy going. He also points out during class which topics will be on the exam. If you come to class on time, he sometimes plays a funny video. Highly recommend.
Love this professor. Attendance is not mandatory. Tests are now online for 110 so it's an easy A. You have to buy the book. Very little homework and he's funny. I'm horrible at science so was nervous about taking this but he makes it so you can get an easy A! take this class
I had Dhameja for Bio 101 and 102. Attendance isn't mandatory but he gives side notes you need for the tests. He either flies through the lecture notes or moves at a snail's pace so I got bored easily and it was hard to pay attention. His tests are very conceptual-based so you have to study super hard to make an A. Not my favorite proffessor
Dhemeja is one of the best professors I've ever had. He genuinely just wants students to learn useful information about biology. Exams were online and super easy. Attendance isn't mandatory and not many people go, but I highlyyy recommend going because his lectures are interesting and he deserves a bigger crowd than he gets
Dhameja is so funny and so sweet. Biology isn't always the most interesting, but you can tell he tries his best to make everyone laugh. Tests can be a little hard, so definitely make sure to study and you will be good! I would recommend taking him. Very intelligent and does a great job of trying to make sure people understand the concepts.
Dhameja is the definition of "Living Legend". I had him for both 101 and 102, and am taking him for 303 next semester. His jokes are funny, he plays music in class, and he's easy to understand. You really don't have to show up to class, he won't complain but he does get his feelings hurt a little. I'd HIGHLY suggest taking his classes.
He is a great professor, but taking him for two semesters was a mistake. His lectures and tone of voice is just sooo boring. I got an A in 101, but the content in 102 is more difficult, so be ready to actually study and put work in. He grades 101 with a 33/67 scale and 102 with 25/75. Online modules/tests ratio. He is fair, nothing too bad to say!
I would not take this professor again. Unfortunately, a lot of USC's bio teachers suck but choose a different one. Everyone fails his exams which cover information not given in lecture. He makes tests hard beware.
Great professor, I took him for 102 and I'm taking him for 303! Takes a lot of studying because tests are very specific but he occasionally gives extra credit if he feels like it. There's probably other professors that would be easier, but with Dhameja you're forced to learn which is beneficial if you plan on going to med school and taking the MCAT
Took him for 101 and 102, can honestly say I wish I hadn't. Your grade is pretty much the 4 exams, which in all honesty are beyond specific content. While some people did alright id say a majority of people found themselves studying for hours to get a 70-80% on the test. you honestly never have to go to class if you are cool with a B.
I had Dhamjea for 101 and had an A+ all semester. Taking him for 102 was a mistake. Your whole grade is based on tests and half of the tests are on material not in the notes. You think that he's nice in lecture, but go to office hours to find that he really doesn't care if you do well and will be extremely rude to you. Do not take him for 102.
Dhameja was a pretty solid professor. Lectures were helpful, but he got sidetracked easily. Homework was very easy and counted for 25% of the final grade; final was not cumulative and counted the same as a regular exam, so it was technically optional.
HE IS AWESOME! TAKE HIM! Study the notes and read over them and you will make the grade you want. Hes very clear about what is on the exams. He also tires to make class enjoyable and he is very funny! He is very fair also.
Dhameja is a good professor and truly means well. He understands that bio lectures can get long & boring so he makes sure to give several breaks where he shows funny animal videos to keep everyone interested. His tests are sometimes on material not learned in the chapters which is really annoying but overall they weren't too difficult.
Dhameja was a really good professor. The attendance was not mandatory, there is no iclicker or anything for this class. All of our tests were online so no one showed up to class. His tests sometime contain information that wasn't taught in class because he got sidetracked throughout the class. But if you want an easy A take his class.
Attendance isnt mandatory but he gives pop quizzes for extra credit so you kinda have to show up. A lot of the ratings here are misleading tbh. This teacher is one of the worst bio teachers Ive had. His test are really difficult due to the fact that they have fill in the blank. If you decide to take this class be ready to teach yourself.
Most disrespectful, unprofessional, and unorganized professor/person i have ever met. I'm confused why he has a high rating. Talking with him about anything is scary because he is so rude and demeaning. USC needs to do something about this guy.
Take him for 110 if you want an easy A. I know nothing about bio and I finished with an A. 4 tests, all online. homework is very minimal (1 module per test). This class required minimal effort and fully worth it. Also, attendance isn't required. I had one issue with my grade and i went to his office and fixed it on the spot. he's awesome
he is actually terrible. don't understand all the high ratings. the material on tests is not covered in class.
I love dhameja and I actually found him to be a good teacher, but exams were based on conceptual knowledge of the most minute details. He is inconsistent between sections (one section had an exam online, one had it in class- everyone failed), and awful at responding to emails. I FULLY believe I would have had an A in BIO 101 if I didnt take him.
If you attend his lectures and pay attention most people should be able to get at least a B. He's also very friendly and easy to come up to for questions.
If you attend class, pay attention, and study for exams like usual you'll get at least a B. He clearly explains what is on the exams and is very easy going and will do whatever he can to help his students within reason.
Very unorganized. The exam questions arent from notes or the book or being in class so you just have to guess a lot. Ask to look at your exams because he will take off points if he cant read something or if its misspelled but you can get the points back by just telling him you had it right.
Grade is four exams & the final but the lowest gets dropped. No homework or extra credit, but did curve final grades a little bit. Test questions come from literally no where I never missed a class and would see questions about things never mentioned in lecture. I studied for exams for days before them and would still do terrible on them.
Dhameja's great! He's extremely knowledgable in his field and is always giving examples to better explain a topic. He loves what he does, so he tends to get carried away in discussion, but it's honestly still beneficial when he does. If you pay good attention and stay engaged, you will have no problem in his class. He also stays after class for Q's
Dhameja is a super funny guy and genuinely wants his students to do well. If you turn in your attendance questions at the end of class you'll get so much extra credit. He's the easiest professor to listen to in a lecture in my opinion, especially for Bio classes.
good teacher. at times hard to understand but not too bad
Really interesting professor! There are five exams, one you can drop, which is really awesome. YOU NEED TO COME TO LECTURES because he adds more to the content, but he really makes you understand the material. There is no textbook for the class besides a lecture guided notes. Overall, awesome professor and an easy A if you go to class. :)
Hes great
Dhameja uses literally the greatest metaphors ever for super detailed and hard concepts. On the exams I will think of these crazy metaphors and get the question right and laugh at the same time. You MUST go to class because things said in class WILL ALWAYS be on the exams. Super funny and friendly. VERY PASSIONATE.
Although this class has a lot of information, Dhameja makes sure that you learn all the content and will also tell you whats important to know for the test. He gives great examples to help remember the content and is a very knowledgeable teacher. He doesnt take attendance, but you should still attend class because he has great lectures.
essentially an online class. tests are online and you get your notes for the entire semester! as long as you take the tests and do the modules (all open notes and online), it is a very easy A. Good for people who are not good at science!
Dhameja was a very good professor with lot's of repetition in the class, that allowed me to stick with the material. However, his class was extremely difficult. It requires a lot of outside studying and the tests are usually pretty application based. If you struggle with accents as well his class may not be for you, his is very heavy.
He is an amazing professor but his test are difficult. STUDY.
His accent is sometimes hard to understand and tests are quite difficult. I am not very good at science and have definitely struggled in this class. Studying a lot outside of class is a must. Attendance is not mandatory but you should go because he says a lot of important things during the class that is on the tests.
Dont take him. Sure he says important things in his lecture to help you pass the test, and I went to every single class. But the tests are extremely confusing and almost seem like hes trying to trip you up. And ALL your points come from how good you do on his exams.
Hes such a cool guy but his class is not so great. Its VERY lecture heavy and our exams are hard. He tries to give us helpful notes but the exams are written in a way that makes you second guess everything you THINK you know.... Also, the only grades are literally the exam and a few hw assignments... so if you fail the exams you fail the class.
Attendance not mandatory, but he underlines everything you need to know and makes additional notes that will be on exam. If you do not study you will fail his exams. 4 exams and will drop your lowest grade and allow you to replace it will the final, or opt out of taking the final. The only other grades are homework modules and pre assessment tests.
Lectures are pretty good, but probably not worth going to. You can take the tests online and with the use of your book, which is essentially a packet of pre-written notes that have all of the answers already.
Most boring lectures I've ever had to endure. If you miss lectures, you will miss additional notes he adds (which are also pretty irrelevant to the class content) which usually end up being worth 5-10 pts of the exam. Make sure you know everything in the notes and you should get As on the exams; lots of material. HW modules & assessments worth 25%.
Dhameja was a really nice guy who seemed to enjoy the material he was teaching. Grades are based off of your best 4 exams out of the 5 that he gives, so if you do well enough on the first 4 exams you don't have to take the final. He was also super funny and nice and would often show funny youtube videos in the beginning of class. Great professor.
He is really a nice professor. He treats you like a friend and also a very funny individual. I would love to take him again and this course wasn't too bad. He used many entertaining animal videos before lectures which was very enjoying. The exams were open book so it wasn't too bad and Modules and assessments as well.
This class was not easy. You have to actually study and be willing to put in the work. Dhameja is very nice and gets really into what he is teaching but sometimes goes on rants about things that won't be on the test. He does not get grades back as fast as he says he will and the tests are multiple choice with some fill in the blanks.
Love Dhameja!! I came into this class with only AP class experience and he taught fantastically. His lectures are so informative, but be prepared to take heavy notes and pay attention. He makes the tests challenging, but if you study and come to class he helps you out. He loves his class, so he's always willing to answer questions.
Your grades will be based on your exams, pre-assessments, and review homework ONLY (which can be annoying at times). His test are extra hard and thought provoking, but if you pay attention to class enough you should be able to pass.
Dhameja is a real gem. He loves Bio and anything he says in lecture will most likely be on the test. He gives a lot of good examples and sometimes plays funny videos before class. He is a really great guy
Attendance isn't mandatory, but there are things he mentions in class that are not on the notes that will be on the test. Know every detail on the notes, you will be tested on specific things. He is always late and hard to reach sometimes, but he gives breaks in class and is funny. It's a hard class, but you can definitely do well if you study hard
Dhameja is an amazing professor who lectures really well and makes you want to learn biology. Would highly recommend if you want to take the MCAT later on or etc because this will prepare you for it. His tests can be difficult from time to time but as long as you attend class, take notes, and pay attention- you should get at least a B.
I took Dhameja for bio 101 and 102 and he was great. The tests are pretty hard if you don't study but going to class doesn't really matter for tests. As long as you know the notes you should do fine. He is extremely funny and personable so you will enjoy the lectures. He also gives very helpful tips for remembering the content. I highly recommend.
Dhameja is a really good professor. Attendance is not mandatory, but if you go to lectures the exams will be way easier. There are almost always 3-4 questions (8%) of his exams that come out of nowhere so you need to know everything really well and then just guess on those. He is slow to give grades back but gives EC if it takes really long.
I took Dhameja for both biology 101 and 102 and he continues to get more irritating. I love his lectures, they are very interesting and he does a great job of explaining the material, however, his tests are a pain. At least 5 questions out of 40 come out of absolutely nowhere. His questions are also worded poorly.
Dhameja is one of the best professors I have had at usc. There is no homework until the exam. The exams are straight forward. He gives a lot of the exam questions out during the lectures. Although lectures aren't required, exams will be super easy if lectures are attended. He gives a lot of extra credit out if the students ask for it.
He is the BEST professor at USC. He explains everything very well and really cares for students. He is funny, and often gives random extra credit. I took him for Bio 101 s well, and I wish I could have him for all of my classes. I highly recommend him! You will actually learn the material and do well on exams, as they are right off of the notes.
I was in his class during the COVID shut downs, he let us drop one of our tests (allowed to drop final). It was really nice to have a teacher like this that still cared that we learned something, but also understood that it was a stressful time. Even when we were in class he tried to make it easier for people. Take him if you need genetics
The world simply does not deserve this man. He is the nicest, most understanding professor I have ever had. He is passionate about the material, and very intelligent. He cares so much about the success of his students, and accommodates to every individual student. Take him if you have the chance. He is the best professor I have ever had.
Don't get me wrong, Dhameja is a great professor. I feel like this class was so easy that I learned nothing, because everything is just straight memorization from his notes. There's no application anywhere, which was easy and good for my grade, but I feel like I didn't learn anything. It's a lot of memorization. He's a super cool dude though.
Dhameja is the best professor ever. he is so funny and a great teacher. you should attend class because he often discusses things that are gonna be on the test but not in the notes. you need the lecture slides notebook but not the textbook. as long as you study you will do fine!! he is awesome and I highly recommend him for Bio101 and Bio102
I LOVE DHAMEJA! He makes class so entertaining and he wants you to figure it out. If you tell him that you care and show to office hours he will help you so much.
I had him for 101&102, he cares that his students understand what he is teaching and makes jokes all the time. There is a required "textbook," but it is just the lecture notes that he teaches out of. There are 4 modules for before the exams & 4 exams, final is optional based on overall grade. He is super chill, would definitely take him again!
Very good person. If you take notes on what he writes in class you will make an A on every exam. He gives out tons on extra credit that helps you out a lot. He is funny and doesn't bore you the whole time in his lecture. No textbook. Study his powerpoint and HAND WRITTEN NOTES and you will do great. He says there are quizzes but we never had one.
I had Dhameja for both 101/102, and there's a reason I took him again for 102. Bio in general can be difficult, but he's really good at explaining things, answering questions, and truly cares about his students. He will also ask for our opinions on if the test should be moved back, etc. He also makes sure we are relaxed and ready to learn.
I took him by mistake freshmen year for Biology 101 and haven't looked back since. He's a great lecturer and he's also pretty chill. You do need to attend class and make an effort, but other than that, it's all cool. Your grade is made up of your top 3 exams out of 4 and maybe some pop quizzes, which is MCQ + blank. ^^ Got an A in every class.
Literally the best professor I've ever had. TAKE HIM. He is hilarious, every student loves him, he has great analogies, and is all around a good guy.
Goat Meja is the best! His lectures make my day every time
I love Dhameja, he makes everything easy to understand and he adds his own personal stories and analogies to his lectures. He also gives extra information just for the sake of knowing things which make his lectures engaging and fun. You have to study the notes and listen to his lectures, but as long as you keep up the class is easy and enjoyable.
Professor Dhameja has definitely stood out me this year. Awesome at teaching and breaks things down for all students to understand. He makes sure everyone is caught up. He does tend to get off task and go off on tangents, which can be a bit distracting. Overall hes a funny guy and I would totally take his class again.
Dhameja's passion for his work is both admirable and contagious. He makes me excited to learn! Not only does he explain every topic thoroughly, but he uses great analogies/cute stories to help you remember the topics. An A is very manageable as long as you attend lectures and take decent notes. He is always incredibly caring and understanding.
Had him as a freshman for Bio 101/102. Great professor and extremely nice. Lecture heavy but he tells interesting or funny stories that take 15-20 min of lecture so he only teaches for about 30 min.
He made an online class fun, but his voice was so soothing I'd often fall asleep.
Teaches like you never took BIOL101 and covers what we need to know for exams. Cool guy and goes off topic sometimes but always interesting to listen to. Exams are representative of class lectures and not hard if you listen and take notes.
He always lectured about our material in a fun and interactive manner. He was always easy going and always checked for any questions we may have. Hes hilarious and really easy going.
This was a synchronous class for me, his online lectures were engaging and easy to follow. We don't use a textbook but we have lecture notes that follow the lectures. HW, quizzes and exams all online with no lockdown browser. He has online office hours too. Easy A
He is the GOAT. He is so nice and really makes sure that you understand the content he is teaching. The class is hard in itself, so it is helpful to review outside of class, but he is also great at explaining things. Make sure you go to class because it it super helpful in that what he talks about in class is what is on the exam. 10/10 would recc.
He makes class very interesting and is a very great teacher
best prof 100% recommend
Dhameja is a great guy, but is easily distracted with online learning. His lectures sometimes do not match the exams as well as they should. I would take him in person if anything. Lots of bonus points.
Dhameja is a phenomenal professor. He cares about his students and covers all bases for the tests. You do have to read and study the powerpoints for a good grade, which was my mistake at the end of the semester. My class was asynchronous so make sure you stay on top of lectures and rewatch them for little clues he gives throughout.
Dhameja was awesome and such a sweet man. You have 4 tests/homework modules and that is what your final grade comes from. You absolutely must buy the textbook. Sometimes it was hard to pay attention to his lectures, but I liked him and would take him again.
Dhameja is actually a really funny professor, you don't have to attend the lectures and he doesn't give a lot of work. His exams aren't proctored but everything comes straight from the book
I love Dhameja, but he struggles with online classes. Online lectures are very jumbled, and there was a lot of uncertainty about how our grades would be calculated. Definitely take him in person when/if you have the chance, he's very funny and friendly.
Dhameja was great for me. I had already taken AP bio and passed, so this class was just a review for me. The tests were difficult, and the lectures were kind of hard to follow. I wouldn't really recommend for someone with no background in biology because I think I wouldn't have learned very much, but it was a good low stress class for me.
as long as you read the textbook the class is an easy A
Pretty easy class. He gets a little distracted sometimes in lectures but he gives a lot of useful analogies for the concepts he teaches. Fun guy and his tests were open notes for my class
I took him Fall 2019. We had a homework module and assessment due right before every exam and memorizing those truly helped on the actual exam. MEMORIZE MEMORIZE MEMORIZE! He will put 4-5 chapters on the exam and it is strictly from the underlined portions of his notes. LITERALLY, MEMORIZE it photographically every single slide. You'll make an A.
Amazing.
His lectures were fantastic and incredibly helpful. He clearly cares a lot about making sure that his students know all of the material before each of the assessments. All of his assignments and tests were open notes for me. Although they were very specific, everything could be found in the textbook. Overall, I highly recommend him!
Dhameja is such a kind and thoughtful teacher! He really cares about his students and wants you to do your best. He was able to make online lectures fun during covid and I always looked forward to going to his class as he made learning the material fun. He always responds to emails and is there to help you! Definitely take him, you won't regret it.
If you spend an hour or two every week on this class you will get an A.
Dhameja's class was very easy. I had this class online but he recorded the lectures and posted them so we could watch them later. If you show up for the lab and turn in your assignments on time, you are basically guaranteed an easy A. He posts each exam at the beginning of the month and you have about a week to complete it. I would take him again!
Not a very good teacher. Does not truly teach in lectures. Had no homework through out so only a few assignments and tests at the very end counted towards the final grade. Did not feel like an intro class and he did not teach. I learned everything through the book. He is nice but would rather joke with students than actually teach the material.
He is awesome! I'm a non-Bio major, and his lectures were still interesting to me. Very knowledgeable and humorous. Genuinely just a kind soul. I would recommend this class to anyone! The class itself is very straightforward--everything is open notes. You could do well without attending any lectures. Textbook needed.
Super easy class + Nice teacher. Grades determined by 4 hw, pre, exam, and exam modules and that's it but the answers are word-for-word out of the textbook and they're all open book/note. Lectures not mandatory, but he does apply the content in fun examples. Easy A with minimal effort, and a really fun teacher to have. Don't take anyone else.
He is very chill and funny. One of my favorite teachers of all time. Gave the final as extra credit. You need to go to the lectures to get extra info that is not on the notes.
He was a nice professor overall, however he only responded to a few of my emails on the last day of class and ignored the rest of them about my grade. His test were not too bad and the homework is time consuming. I just can't rate him that high considering he was hard to contact.
Goated lectures
Dhameja is probably the easiest class I have ever had. If you show up, you will pass. He claims that the tests are difficult, but if you study for an hour the night before, you will make an A. There is so little homework but it is graded for accuracy so try hard on it. Overall, really nice person and super easy class.
very few assignments, it's hard to pass the class, lectures are hard to follow and he is never on topic. Homework and assesments are the only tools he gives to use to study and the assignments are timed and once you click submit you can no longer see the answers, these are the only study tools provided. Test are nothing like the "study guides".
really funny guy but not a good teacher at all. completely skips chapters that are on the exam and expects you to go back. super easy on grading which is helpful but we watch bird videos instead of doing the lesson
I loved Professor Dhameja and am planning on taking him for Bio 102. I hated biology in high school but he has opened so many more doors for me because he just makes things make sense. He purposely is funny in lecture to keep people's attention and tries to give everyone the chance to do well. I adore his teaching style + always recommend.
Dhameja is great! His lectures are fun and it was never boring. Just study the notes and you should be good.
This class would be difficult if it was in person, but I took it when it was online no lockdown browser. He is an amazing guy who genuinely cares about his students and wants you to succeed. He is very forgiving and responds to emails very fast. He gives you the option to take the final.
He is really nice and his class is a lecture so he reads the notes and give examples to further explain them
He does a really good job of explaining things. The test however, are quite hard. It takes a lot of prep work to completely feel comfortable with material. No homework assignments except some modules that are due close to exam time. That being said the course is mainly depending on your exams grades.
Dhameja is a must take for science majors! This was my first science course in college and Dhameja made it so great! If you attend the lectures and study for a couple of hours before the exams you will do well, he really cares about the success of his students and his lectures are great. Definitely take him if you can!
Dhameja is a great person but he is a horrible lecturer. He spends 20 minutes going over remedial topics that a freshman in high school could catch onto in about 2 minutes and spends so much time drawing things and then skips so many slides. Class is easy, grades will be good, and he is the best USC has to offer for BIO. Not great though.
Show up to his lectures and you will be fine. He does ramble on and tends to get off topic.
The material in this class is a lot so it isn't an easy A but I loved having Dhameja. He's funny and makes his lectures interesting with a lot of analogies and illustrations to help understand things. The class was hard because its so much information but he offered extra credit and even let us take an exam with later classes if we weren't ready.
Dhameja is an excellent professor. Im taking him again for 102 next semester because I feel like he cares about his students. Very lecture heavy which took some time to get used to but he does not move at too fast of a pace. Gives extra credit sometimes and drops the lowest exam grade.
Really enjoyed this class; the lectures aren't necessarily mandatory but he does include extra that cannot be found in notes. Not an easy A but if you find the right study method is not too hard to make good grades on tests and modules.
I really like Dhameja as a person. He is hilarious and wants you to do well in his class but he simply reads what is in the notes and draws diagrams sometimes. His tests are extremely hard with 40 multiple choice questions and 20 short answer questions with NO word bank. You have to study a lot to do well.
I always loved bio, but was never great at it. Dhameja's teaching style really worked with me and I ended up doing really well in his class. Attendance isn't mandatory, but going really helps. I even went to his office hours and he boosted my grade.
Overall, I think Dhameja is a great person. He's extremely funny and nice. I always enjoyed going to his lectures. The only negatives I have to say about him is that he knows so much about biology he can get so far off track in lecture. His exams cover a lot of content and are extremely hard. I would study for weeks and still make a C or D.
Dhameja isn't a bad teacher he just goes off topic a lot during lectures. The exam is not like the textbook so the exam is the only thing that made my grade drop. He does drop one but they're all hard. I studied for two weeks straight and failed one so it all depends on how you study.
Dhameja gives lots of good examples to explain things but I felt lost on overall concepts and their importance so I had to do a lot of extra outside studying to really understand topics. But, he responds super quick to emails, has good office hours, and if you work and study hard in this class it's possible to get a good grade.
Dhameja was the best! I'm so sad I won't be able to have him next year - his class filled up so fast. He teaches by telling a story so if you follow and understand the story you should be good! There's not many grades for this class, only 4 HWs, 4 pre-assessments and you can take 5 exams but the best 4 go towards your grade! They're not bad though
He was great! The class wasnt that hard and he was super laid back! If you can get him for any of his classes I would! No real homework, just some stuff before exams!
Dhameja is an awesome professor! Tests weren't easy, but if you study the notebook and make sure you understand the big concepts and know definitions, then you'll do good on the tests. Dhameja makes the course enjoyable, and gives good insights into the material. Also, the worst test grade out of 5 tests gets dropped, and the final exam is optional
I taught myself every piece of information I learned in this class. He goes off on random tangents and it throws off my focus but some people love him. I wouldnt take it again. I really learned nothing
Dhameja is a kind person but I do not like him as a professor at all. The way he lectures is very inconsistent, and the only grades in the class are the tests. It was very hard for me to follow along with his lectures and his exam questions are confusing (exams are not open note). He's not bad, but I really struggled with him.
Really didn't enjoy Dhameja's class at all. He has very few grades that are only tests, assessments, and pre-exams. The pre-exam and assessments don't help you prepare for the test at all. He goes off on random tangents and normally doesn't stay on topic. Wouldn't recommend it if you're a bad test taker. Makes tests super difficult.
I took Dhameja for bio 101 and let me tell you this was the absolute hardest class I have ever taken. I studied for hours for the exams and the highest grade I got was a 70%, all of the rest I failed. All my friends had him as well and majority were barely holding onto a 70% or failing the class. There is also barely any grades besides the test.
Professor Dhameja is the best biology teacher I've ever had. I came into the class with lots of previous knowledge, so it was easy and I was able to skip some lectures. He's well respected. I'm shocked he does not have a 5.0
Dhameja is hilarious and relatable. I only had a hard time because he would jump between topics (in Biology everything goes together) but as someone not familiar with the topic it left me a little lost. I ended with a B+. Read and research the textbook topics. Take him if youre in STEM and want deeper understanding. Loved the class.
he knows way too much to teach a bio101 class. i will never take him ever again, his test were extremely hard and worded weird and nothing like the notes. doesnt give any homework or other assignments to help you understand the material.
He is a good teacher
Dhameja is an engaging, funny professor that is very knowledgeable. Attendance isn't mandatory but I would recommend because he says in class what information from the lecture book is needed for the test and what isn't. He prepares you well for the four exams and the final is optional. (He takes the best four). I would definitely recommend taking!
Prof Dhameja was my favorite teacher all semester. His lectures were so helpful and you can tell he really knows what he's talking about. He's also so funny and comes up with great analogies for remembering the material. His tests are somewhat difficult, but if you go to class and take good notes you'll know what's expected of you. Take him!!!
I took Dhameja for bio 110 and he was awesome! This class was for non bio majors so he made it super easy and interesting. He always showed us cool videos and made his lectures short. Tests were also online
Take him.
Professor Dhameja is hilarious. He treats his lectures almost as if he was a comedian in front of an audience. He was just a chill professor overall.
LOVE THIS MAN!! The absolute best had him for bio 101 and bio 102 and got As in both classes. His tests are very straightforward from the notes. If you understand the notes you should be fine. He gives you notes if you don't want to attend lectures but he explains them better their. Absolutely recommend
A very funny and knowledgable professor, definitely my favorite class to attend. There is not much homework so grades are heavily based on exams. He lets you drop your lowest exam grade which is nice. I will say you do have to study a lot if science isn't your thing and his exams are very specific and hard. Definitely will have to put in the work
I spent countless hours studying hard for this class, and even though homework counted 25% of the final grade, it does not weigh much. Dhameja is a very sweet guy who enjoys teaching this class and really wants you to be successful, but he was not the professor for me because I am the type of student who needs more in classroom help.
Dhameja is a great professor. For non bio majors he focuses on teaching information that will make his students interested and exciting. He is inspirational and teaches not only about the material but life
Dhameja is a really good professor, but you will need to study. There's a lot of content and the tests are pretty hard but if you put the time in to study the textbook it will be worth it. During lectures he goes through the notes and does a fairly good job explaining. Everything on the test is in the notes so pay attention if he adds anything.
Cool guy, really likes biology but his exams were horrific. I barely studied for the first exam and made an F (that's on me). I studied A LOT for the second exam and made even lower than the first, makes no sense. I have only ever made A's and one B+ so I had to drop the course otherwise my GPA would have been destroyed. Stayed in lab and made an A
Dhameja lets you know little examples of possible exam questions and makes it clear that you need to study a lot to pass. He does tend to get a little distracted occasionally, but it usually ends up being an entertaining break from the lecture. As long as you review lecture notes as you move throughout the class, you'll do great.
He is the kindest professor ever. His classes are always great, but the exams are so hard. No matter how much you study, you will not get an A easily. Exams are 40 ish multiple choice questions and around 10 fill in the blanks. Homework and module assessment posted 3-4 days before exam. Overall, sweet and funny guy, horrible exams
He's funny and very outgoing but you don't learn anything in class. You'll watch random videos and hear him talk about random things. Every assignment is online so it's pretty easy to pass his class. I stopped going to lecture because we never covered anything so don't waste your time, stay in bed!
Great professor. Class is VERY exam heavy, and the exams can be worded weirdly. Studying the textbook word for word is the best way to prepare. I took him for 101 last semester and my studying habits weren't as good but you're gonna need to put in the work to get a good grade. I'm taking him for 102 right now and he's the same way in there too :)
Very boring lectures, but everything else is great. Isn't afraid to make jokes and show videos in class. The content is also pretty easy as long as you have the textbook. The exams are word for word from the book.
Dr. Dhameja is such a good professor! If youre a non-bio major, def take him!! his tests are easy and his lectures are always really fun and interesting. Loved his class!
I love Dhameja! Your grade is 4 exams, 4 modules, and 4 assessments, but the modules and assessments are free 100s (open note). He gives 5 exams so you can drop your lowest or exempt the final if you do well on the first 4. He gives out free points occasionally on tests. Also if you miss class, he posts every lecture online to watch anytime.
A lot of people like Dhameja but I think for the most part it depends on your learning style, he gets off topic a lot which makes it hard for me to stay focused personally, but other people enjoy the break during lecture. However, he moves so slow but does not push back exams, so you have to cram a bit.
Gets super off topic, difficult to listen too, doesn't cover material in time for exams
Dhameja is super chill especially cuz this was bio for non-science majors. The answers to the HW and exams were straight from the book and he never made us do any extra work. his lectures are interesting but he does tend to go off topic which i think is fun but that might not be for everyone. overall super easy class and very easy-going lectures
Dhameja does get pretty off topic during class, but that's why I don't go to class. The class is set up so that those who want to attend can, and those who don't can watch live and recorded lectures online if they want. Easy A if you take the time to study the notebook with all the lecture slides in it. Advice: make quizlets of all the slides
If you need to take Biology for non-science majors, 100% take Dhameja. It's an easy A class. All of the exams are online and open note. Lectures are not required, but I liked going to them because Dhameja makes them entertaining. BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Stop asking the GroupMe and buy it- it's required.
Class consists of 4 exams + the final, and a module/pre-exam assessment for each exam. He drops one of the exams so if you have a good grade leading up to the final, you don't have to take it. Attendance isn't mandatory, but you should go because he adds on extra notes that he usually puts on the exams. As long as you put in effort, you'll be fine!
He is amazing!!! I never had to go to class and got 90s and higher on all of my exams. The exams are a copy of the information in the lecture notes that you buy beforehand. I studied the day of for all exams and breezed through the class. The final is optional and you only have two homework assignments per test. Easy A
I am normally bad at biology, but ended up doing well in his class. Make quizlets for all of the exams, because all test questions come straight from the textbook you use. The only thing I didn't like about his class is that he takes around 1-2 weeks to give you final test grades back. Overall, the class wasn't as hard as some people said it was.
I had him for 101 and 102 and loved him. This is the type of class that you have to study for but if you pay attention in class you should be fine.
I took him in Bio101 and 102 and it was amazing! The lectures are always interactive and he makes the material way much easier. Great sense of humor and always opens the class with a youtube video related to biology. The only downside is the grading in this class. Best 4 exams out of 5 and homework, but usually the exams are not that easy.
Dhameja is a super chill professor. He usually tells stories in class that distract him from lectures, but they are funny and usually relate to the content in some way. He ended up cutting out half the material for the exams because we were behind for each one. He gave extra credit multiple times just because he was slow to grade.
Dhameja is awesome! The tests are open note and he gives you all of the dates of them at the start of class and you have five days to take each one when you want to. The lecture section is not mandatory to go to, but can be helpful. Very clear grading criteria and I knew what to expect from the first week of taking his class. Take him!
Dhameja is a good prof. He is very funny & very caring for his students. But, he likes to ramble sometimes, & this can get distracting. We would get behind and he would sometimes shove 1-2 chapters into one class period and then have an exam shortly after. You have to study hard to do well in this class, so it became tiring studying like that.
Dhameja is so funny and almost always gives extra points on exams for no reason. However, he doesn't answer emails and often shows up late to office hours. Exams are not super easy but it is possible to get an A. He often crams lectures with 1-2 full chapters right before the test because he teaches slow. Overall nice guy and I recommend him!
Dhameja is an very entertaining prof in lectures but he would often get distracted and that would lead to a lot of cramming right before exams. He does give extra credit on almost every exam. Be prepared to do a lot of studying on your own. It is a very easy, fun class if you are prepared beforehand just in case he gets off track with lecture.
I love dhameja, he's so funny and makes lectures entertaining. He can go kinda slow and has to leave off some material off the tests because we didn't get to it. Had him for 101 and 102 and preferred 102. His tests are very specific and can be kinda hard just make sure you study. Also lets you drop a test or have the option to not take the final
Very easy, I just don't care for biology. Professor Dhameja made it as enjoyable as he could.
He's funny and his lectures are short
Professor Dhameja is great. He tends to get off topic but most people enjoy that as we get to see a realistic side of our professors. He tries to make the class as interesting as possible. His tests are pretty fair and as long as you study and put in the work you should not have terrible difficulty in this class.
He is a L teacher I am not going to lie. He doesn't do a great job of teaching the material at all and his lectures will literally have you drooling on the book. I stopped going to his class and I got this B on my own. Do not take him if you struggle with keeping a good grade. He only has 4 exams that make up your entire grade, so you must study.
I love Dhameja, he keeps class fun and interesting. Lots of witty comments and good examples when explaining difficult topics. You definitely have to study for exams but as long as you study well youll do fine. He does notes along with you in class which help a lot and is always willing to slow down or repeat something if need be.
Dhameja is a good guy, but its difficult to teach 250+ people biology with no interactive learning whatsoever. All of the class is lectures. Modules open shortly before exams and are worth 20% of your grade. 5 exams, lowest is dropped, make up the other 80%. Study for the love of God, and not just the night before. Attend the SI sessions, helpful.
I really liked him, he's a really funny and good guy. He does a good job at making analogies with certain concepts and I've never been a science person but he has helped me understand a lot of stuff I used to be confused with. The class itself is pretty difficult but he's a good lecturer so it helps.
He's the best
Very funny and his classes are always entertaining and the class was very straight forward with not too much work
Hes not bad if you have his type of studying process but you will have to study a lot. He gets off topic a lot and will cram everything in he missed then but it on the exam. He post 1 module and pre-test assessment almost 3 days before exams and your only graded on pre- assessments and exams.
if you are not a science major TAKE THIS CLASS. Its pretty easy and its not too boring. Exams were all virtual:)
STUDY STUDY STUDY!!
Seriously the funniest guy! For 110, he knows you're just here for a science credit and tries to make the class enjoyable. Labs are easy and all assignments are virtual. I have a few friends who have him for 101 and the class is understandably harder, but he's still a great guy. Take him!
Professor Dhameja is a great guy and he really cares that his students understand the material, but he goes very slowly and goes on long tangents. This then causes us to get backed up on the material and him to rush through multiple chapters the class before the exam. The class is hard and if you want to succeed you need to study like a maniac.
He is a nice guy but not a great professor. If you do well with just reading a notebook, then definitely take this class. He had us teach 3 chapters to ourselves..
He's a great professor overall. He posts pre-recorded lectures, and there is barely ever homework. His class is test-heavy but gives you opportunities to bring your grade up if needed. He also is very funny and a great overall teacher.
This class was very easy. He has an amazing personality and clearly cares about students. His lectures are very funny as he goes off on tangents and it keeps you entertained. Very light work, but this means you have to make sure you do well on the exams.
Hes super funny and a nice guy. Tries to make lectures entertaining. He goes pretty fast. He lets you drop your lowest exam grade. If you study for the exams youll do good but you have to study a lot. Not a lot of homework.
Dhameja is probably my favorite professor so far and his lectures are pretty entertaining. I took him for Bio 101 and 102 and your grade in the class is pretty much depended on how well you do on the exams. The exams are not easy but they aren't the worst either you'll do well as long as you study for them.
Super funny professor! His classes were always interesting to go to. However, a lot of times he goes off on tangents not related to the actual material and spends the majority of class time explaining an obscure concept. He gives you lots of time to take the tests and is very forgiving!
He made lectures something I wanted to go to.
I have come to him asking for help and asking how to improve my study habits for his class and he tried to ignore me. Also, his hand writing is horrible and hard to read.
Great professor, super entertaining in class. Just make sure to pay attention in class and do NOT skip class. It is a lot more beneficial for the in person exams. Just STUDY HARD. Know the concepts instead of just the terms. He is more than happy to help clarify info after class too
Best professor i have had - easy class if u study, he will help u if u ask questions
Best professor. Would 100% take again. Youll do well if you pay attention and study. Tests are straight forward. Super funny and tries to make lectures entertaining. Not a lot of hw.
The class material itself is difficult, but Dhameja is always looking for more ways to explain and make analogies to make it make sense. He's funny and he's available in office hours, he is such a kind overall person and is a great professor, just definitely be sure to study because he can only do so much as a professor!
Dhameja is a great professor and cares about the topic. Attendance is not mandatory but you should not miss class. This is not an easy class so it does require a lot of studying outside the lecture. Attend the SI sessions, they help. Grade is based on hw modules (4), assessments (4) and exams (4 or 5, you can drop your lowest). Dhameja is great
I absolutely loved Mr. Dhameja! He does a really good job of explaining all of the concepts in multiple ways in an attempt to reach everyone. The only downside was the only real grades in his class were from exams, but if you did good on the first four exams, you could opt to not take the final.
I didn't do so well in this class because I'm not a good test taker but if you do the modules and do well on the exams you should be good. I couldn't really understand anything in the lectures but if you study the book you should be good.
I had a great experience in Dhameja's class. It is hard to stand out in a big lecture class but if you go out of your way to ask for help, he will do what he can do accommodate. Tests are very straight forward if you attend class (he is hilarious) or watch his online lectures. The lecture notebook makes it easy to stay organized and follow along.
Not homework heavy at all, one homework and practice exam for each module. Four exams plus final, lowest score is dropped. A lot of memorization and application, review notes every day for a few minutes and you will be fine. Attend SI's and join the GroupMe's.
Very limited material to study off of for exams, but this allows you to know what all you should know. He does expect high levels of understanding of topics. 75% of the class grade comes from exams. Very knowledgeable person, but frequently gets off of topic and then rushes through the rest of the material. Nice person overall
I feel like the people on here that bash him didn't really try, he is a good professor for a basic 100 level class. He tells u everything u need to know and doesn't make it too hard. Attendance is never mandatory which is good if u have stuff going on so u wont get behind/lost. Hes super funny too! Loved him even though I didnt get the best grade!
While I do respect Dhamejas efforts to keep bio fun and entertaining, there were many times I felt as if I had to reteach a lot of material to myself because of how off topic hed get. VERY tough exams, only other grades you get is homework. Hard to understand his accent, but not his fault. If youre more of a straightforward learner, dont take
He parades that kids fail his second exam. Overall, he is funny and if you go to his office hours he is extremely helpful. He only has 4 tests and if one doesn't go well he will replace it with the final. The exams are multiple choice and fill in the blank. The multiple choice is hard though, don't think it's like high school.
Great professor. He shows that he cares about his students, gives good study tips, and provides lots of exam review. He is very personable and knows a lot about bio. If you are ready to learn, he is ready to teach and I enjoyed his lecture style. 10/10!
While this course is extremely hard, it is obvious that Professor Dhameja cares deeply about his students. He will go over every possible thing in office hours to help the student improve. He helped improve my grade personally by going over information. He gives study tips and lectures with examples. He is very helpful, I would recommend his class.
Prof. Dhameja is genuinely one of the best professors/teachers I've ever had. The class has online "open notes" tests, modules, and assessments with no homework, all based on the textbook (word for word questions from the textbook). This class was super easy for any student looking for an easy A in science.
Very funny and charismatic teacher who really wants his students to succeed. Tries his best to make his lectures interesting by being funny and providing helpful explanations/analogies. If you look over your notes and do what he asks you can very easily get an A.
Dhameja is straight forward with what he expects from you. If you show up to lecture and pay attention you'll do good in the class. 10/10 recommend.
He provides you with everything you need to be successful on the evaluations and it is very apparent that he has a passion for the subject and teaching. Attendance is not required but I genuinely enjoy his lectures so I always attend. Biology is not my major but I would gladly take another one of his classes in the future.
Love love love Professor Dhameja! He is so caring, and keeps the student's interests in mind. He is very passionate about Biology. Some studying will be necessary, but the lecture notebook he uses makes it very easy to review. Only ever homework before exams, and they are helpful assignments through the access code of the lecture notebook.
This class was very difficult for someone who had not taken a biology class since their sophomore year. He taught in a way that made the information difficult to learn, and his notes/textbooks provided minimal information which were not a very helpful study tool for the tests. Meeting with him for office hours was difficult, he was always late.
I personally don't like his teaching style because he is slow and gets off topic constantly. If you are looking for a professor that keeps a lecture consistent with useful information, do not take him. He is really funny with what he says, but it is hard to stay concentrated with the way he teaches. I do like that his lectures are not mandatory.
Professor Dhameja is one of my all time favorites. I wish he taught more classes! He is so passionate about bio, and goes on super interesting tangents that help you connect info through stories. I love his teaching style. He tries his best to make the info digestible for students, and he really cares. Take him for sure! Such a great experience.
The information in the notes seems easy enough to learn, but Dhameja goes off on tangents and he makes things more confusing than it needs to be. Unless you took AP bio in high school, it's probably going to be hard. The tests were so hard and the way the questions were worded made no sense, and Dhameja makes you feel stupid for not understanding.
This professor was super sweet and funny, that being said I went to two classes the entire semester and got an A, it is extremely easy and all tests are at home.
Dhameja is very polite and I loved taking his class. I only went to lecture the first week of classes and went to all of the labs but managed to receive an A in the class. Homework and exams are online. Highly recommend.
Dhameja is easily the best teacher I've taken here. I've never learned more bio in my life. He posts his video lectures online, which is helpful if you fall asleep/dont pay attention in class. He is funny and makes the lectures interesting. He makes really good analogies to memorize information. Tests are straightforward if you study the notes.
Dhameja is actually the funniest professor, always brings a smile to peoples faces and really cares for his students. When it comes to the course, MEMORIZE THE LECTURE NOTES! As long as you do this you'll make an A. Has a tendency to get off topic and cut off half the material on the test... but hey gotta do what you gotta do. Highly recommend.
Professor Dhameja taught in a way that kept me engaged! If you attend class and study the material, this class should not be hard to pass. He's also very funny
Dhameja is a cool dude. I took him for both 101 and 102, and was very glad I did. His class is very lecture heavy but he makes his lectures fun with his side tangents and videos. His exams are a little hard but you are presented with all the information and the modules are a great tool to help you prepare.
I took his Bio110 for nonscience majors and it was the best bio class I could ask for. He knew how to keep us engaged, and honestly, I only showed up 3 times and still ended with an A bc the tests were that straightforward. Absolute W of a prof
Although the class is tough and impossible without attending, Dhameja is a great and fun guy. He really likes this material more than Bio 101, and this makes his lectures a lot more fun. Will supplement the long lectures with videos and fun stories in between. Study roughly 4-5 days before the exam and you should be fine.
Lectures are entertaining. Your grade heavily depends on exams, study for them in advance you'll get an A. He likes to change the format of the exam last minute, going back and forth from free response to multiple choice. He'll also move exam dates around without much warning. Good professor and a relatively easy class, but he can be pretty flaky.
He was one of the best professors I have ever had. He makes lectures fun to sit through and he communicates super well with what is needed for the class. The exams are pretty easy to study for, even if you don't go to class. 10/10 I would add more, but due to the TOS of RMP. I can't add to what makes the lectures fun
He made Biology really fun to learn. All of his side stories that he would tell alongside lectures really amplified my interest in the subjects we would talk about. He is very funny and you can tell that he his very passionate about Biology. I definitely recommend him!
I hate biology but Dhameja was very good at explaining concepts to make students understand. Attendance isn't mandatory, there are lecture videos online but the exams can be a little tricky so you really have to apply yourself.
Professor Dhameja is really chill and funny. You do not have to attend lectures and all exams are online.
He's really funny. However, he does go off-topic a lot.
Dhameja is a great lecturer and keeps things interesting but sometimes he strays away from the material. Attendance is not mandatory for his class but going will benefit you. The final grade is made up of 4 homework modules and pre-assessments and 5 exams (lowest gets dropped). Everything is worth a lot because there is so little in the gradebook.
I'm gonna be honest I went to his class 4 times the whole semester and still had an A. The textbook he makes you buy is literally just the class' powerpoints printed out, so you pretty much receive all the course content in the booklet at once. He seemed to be a super nice guy when I was there!
Dhameja is a super funny man. It's sad that it's his last semester teaching here, but I felt like I should still review him. His tests are pretty difficult, but going to class will help a lot. Definitely a boring course, but Dhameja is hilarious and makes class go by faster with his remarks.
I can't say enough good things about him. I've never liked science, but I truly enjoyed his class. I learned more from him in 1 semester than I did in my whole life. He explained things in an easy-to-understand way. His analogies were so helpful. He switches it up to something more fun when the class gets bored. He cares about his students.
We had a good bit of homework, but it wasn't due often. Going to lectures is optional, although I would recommend going to get a better understanding of the material. He's very funny and class is easy to enjoy. I would take him over and over again!
I adore Dr. Dhameja, I would take him for every bio class if I could. He's a great lecturer, super engaging and fun. He wants you to succeed. But it is Bio 101, so it's hard. But paying attention in lecture and doing the pre-exam HW and practice will put you where you need to be. I 100% recommend taking him.
This professor makes biology fun and engaging. His classes are easy to ace even with minimal attendance, thanks to helpful resources like the textbook and unstuckstudy ai for study prep.
He's awful. Hardly any assignments that make up your grade other than 4 long exams. Goes off on tangents and doesn't truly care about the students. Also why did my previous review disappear...
Lots of Assignments and Exams. But helps your grade.
Class was hard and packed with so much information. It should be a 2 semester course. Class was informative and professor made it relatable and easy to follow.
