Class is easy. I would only get 1 or 2 questions wrong on the exams, but her grading system was difficult. Those 1/2 questions wrong would equate to a B grade on an exam.

Psych 112: You have two in class activities, two quizzes and exams. Psych 102: You have three quizzes (one open note) and two exams. Easy class as long as you study the material she gives you. I didn't use my book that much (10-15%) but there are some questions that she asks from the book.

Do yourself a huge favor and take this professor. She is amazing and so knowledgable. She is one of the top 5 professors at San Jose State, you will not regret it.

Loved this prof because of how clear and thorough she is. You MUST attend class to pass. She has 3 tests and for each one, she gives a thorough study guide. Ms. Alvarez class is lecture heavy and 50% from book. I took this class for my minor in psychology. Being in class is a must if you want to pass. Her two tests are 25% of total course grade with three quizzes. Her review sheets are very detailed and very clear. You have to calculate your course grade at the end.

The only thing I didn't like is she literally will use up every last minute of class. If you get out at 2:45 she will not stop lecturing until 2:45

Shes super nice and helpful, but her class is not so easy. You have to work your butt off to earn the grades. Attending to class and doing study guides dont help you earn an A because it only cover 50% of the material on the test. You have to read the textbook too because thats the other 50% even though her tests are like 25-50 questions.

Her study guides are the best, it may seem lengthy, but if you complete it, you will earn an A because the puts the page number on where to find the info. She will repeat information in lecture and that means it will be on the test. 5 short in class writings, 3 midterms and one final.

Professor Alvarez is amazing. She is really passionate about Child Psychology. I learned a lot from her lectures. She is very helpful and wants students to understand the material. Make sure to be in class and actually pay attention because she does not have notes at all. Tests are easy if you study what is on the study guide. Textbook is a MUST!!

Professor Alvarez is so passionate about child psychology and you see it in the way she teaches during lectures. I learned so much from her. She is always willing to help students. You must attend class because there is different material that is not always in the book. Use the study guides as an aide and apply yourself. Hard work pays off.

She is very kind and understanding but doesn't put grades on canvas. She is lecture heavy and does not have slides up. Can be a little unorganized, especially because she doesn't mention the topic before she begins talking about it. As long as you pay attention in class and take good notes you should be fine!

She isn't too challenging. You have to stay focused on lectures because she doesn't make slides, just a main outline. Study guides are a huge help to prep for tests; do everything on them and understand the info and you should be able to pass. There's a small handful of other assignments throughout the semester but they're basically free points.

Honestly one of my best teachers. I went to every one of the lectures and understood everything she said. The study guides are the perfect key to getting an A in the class.

Professor Alvarez is my favorite psych professor. She definitely cares for her students and is very understanding. Definitely recommend her classes!! Her lectures are super interesting. Her study guides are the best, always do them and you'll know exactly what's on the exams!!

Lecture can get boring, but it is material that will be on the exam. Put effort in the study guides she provides because it is basically the exam. The assignments she gives out are easy.

It is important to attend all lectures to understand whats going to be on the test. Professor Alvarez is very caring and if someone mentions ahead of time that they need more time on exams or don't have their book she'll make adjustments. This class is pretty straightforward and as long as you take notes and attend class it's an easy A.

Lectures are very boring but informational. She bases her lecture off of the test study guides that she provides. Exam questions are found in textbook and class lectures (study guides). There are a couple assignments but they are easy. She is just a boring lecturer but class structure is great. I recommend!!!!

She's a great professor! Her lectures can be slow, but so informational. Her exams are straightforward, the study guide helps a lot. She's understanding. I really enjoyed this class. There are only a few assignments.

Love love love her passion, kindness and clear instructing. She creates note outlines and study guides that set you up perfectly for tests as long as you put in the work to complete them! Uses the book a fair amount, but is really detailed in lectures so you only need to focus on what's on the study guide for reading. TAKE HER!

Prof. Alvarez is really nice but can over explain which is good for some people but it made lectures hard to follow at times because we would be on one subject for 20 min

Took 2 courses with her (PSYC102 and PSYC 112) and she is amazing. She knew her area of expertise well and respect everyone's opinions. Grade is based on exams (with study guides, open book, open notes). There are some short writings (one page each). In overall, it's an easy A as long as you prepare for the exams.

I really enjoyed professor Alvarez and her class! There were 5 tests and they were exactly like the study guide! I do recommend attending lectures as some stuff she says in her lectures are on the test!. You will learn almost about young adolescents in this class!

grade based on 4 exams, which mainly focus on lecture content. if you go to class and take decent notes its an easy a. a few short writing assignments and a couple in class assignments (she will tell you in advance). she really cares about her students and wants them to do well. i think it would be hard to do bad in this class. highly recommend

A few exams which are all based on the lecture (synchronous and recorded). The class itself can be a bit boring, but isn't anything too hard. Take good notes and you will easily pass the class.

Great professor who provides lecture outlines, study guides, and lecture recordings. Her voice is very soothing so you might fall asleep but that's ok. Everything is very straightforward and she tends to be detail orientated when it comes to grading. As long as you review her lectures, have the book on hand, and take notes you'll be fine!

Your grade was based on five tests, two module reflection comments, a "first thoughts" assignment, and a short answer assignment. She uploads recordings of the lectures on canvas and provides us a test review sheet to help us prepare for the tests. The tests were based on the lectures and the book. This class was truly one of my favorites.
