she made the course a lot easier than it could have been - i was actually hoping to have to work a little harder; it really didn't end up being much of a challenge. but i DID learn a lot, and she made the class enjoyable. recommended.

Although I was already familiar with the material that we covered, it was a great class and the professor taught the material very well. She was always willing to help and explained concepts very clearly. If you have trouble with mathematics, I would recommend trying to schedule one of her classes.

She covers her material thoroughly. Once you are introduced to the section material, you have your homework, the next class you'll go over any questions through that particular section, and she'll give you a quiz to refresh your memory so that you're ready for the next section. We always got out early. She was really great, but she did talk alot!

Mrs. Vernia is a good teacher as well as a good person. If math does not come easy for you, she is makes it fun and is very understanding when it comes to grading. She is very fair and knows math well.

Ms. Vernia is very helpful and takes the time to explain the function needed for a problem in class and as well privately if needed. I have had Mrs Vernia for 2 different classes now, algebra and statistic. Trust me when I say i am freaking terrible at any type of math, and her teaching alone has helped me to pass both classes. she is always willing to help, even outside of class. very good teacher

She is an excellent professor. She is very willing to help whenever you have questions. She will even come to the study groups outside of class if you ask her. If you have to take M119, you must take her! The only thing about the class is, don't use the book...it will confuse you more. Just take good notes and ask questions.

Thought the class was going to be super hard, I mean its calculus for God's sake! However, was surprised to find how helpful Professor Vernia was and ended up with an A in the class, not because it was easy, but because she is an amazing teacher. I had mrs. Vernia for a fys/math anxiety course and she is an amazing teacher. she had a great method of teaching and i hope to take one of her stats classes in the future, if needed.

Very nice lady...she helps whenever you need it! If you take long on test she has no problem staying after for you to finish the test. So all you test takers that get anxiety when testing no need to worry in her class!She will do whatever she can to help. I would definitely recommend her!!!

What a great professor. I was dreading this class and ended up enjoying it. My only complaint was that the SI sessions were scheduled for right after class, which didn't help me because I hadn't figured out what I didn't understand. However, she made sure to answer any and all questions before a quiz which were almost always done in groups.

I'll start by saying,If I can pass her calculus class, anyone can!! I took M119 with another professer and failed, but with Vernia I got the grade I needed!! She is so nice, and great at explaining material. Absolutley the best instructor I've ever had. She goes through study guides that are EXACTLY like the tests just different numbers! TAKE HER!!

THIS PROFESSOR MADE ME LOVE MATH! I have always hated it, but after having her, I am no longer afraid of math-YAY! She goes above and beyond with her study guides, group quizzes and typed up notes. She makes it hard to NOT do well! If you do not do well, it is because you are lazy or just don't give a sh*t. Put in the effort and you will learn!

I would recommend her to anyone taking any math class. She makes it seem easier than it is, and what you learn is more than you will use, unless you intend on becoming a math teacher

Vernia is great! All you need to do is buy Course Compass, not the textbook and go to class. She makes the lessons easy to understand. Make sure to go to class because she does a lot of pop quizzes. Honestly, just do the homework and show up for class and you'll be fine. Easiest 'A' I ever made!

Vernia is an amazing teacher! She is very knowledgeable in the subject, and carefully plans each lecture. She has notes made up for class and homework is optional. If you show up for class and pay somewhat attention, you will do well!

She is an amazing teacher. She makes all her material understandable. She gives take home quizzes and goes over them before you turn them in. You get an easy A just on them. Do the online homework and get another easy A. The exams ARE just like the queiizes. Study the quizzes and you will be fine.

This class is a basic stats course so it's a different breed, as long as you put the time in and do the work and properly digest the info instead of just memorizing it you'll ace the corse

She was the best professor I''ve had in my entire experience at IUS. She is extremely helpful in and outside of the classroom. She makes a difficult subject easy and interesting to learn. If you have any classes she is teaching she is the professor to choose Math is not my strong point and I received a 97 in her class. GREAT PROFESSOR

Mildred was the best professor I have ever had. I took her fall semester of 2014 and I recommend her to EVERYONE. If you miss class, you will fall behind, clearly. I studied the study guides and attended class and got a A+ in her class. I studied hard & I understood the math. She met with me on several different occasions to help me understood.

Professor Vernia was hands down the finest professor I've ever had. Calculus is a difficult subject, yet Professor Vernia illustrates it with the grace of a bald eagle. Extra credit, easy quizzes, all inclusive study guides, and world class instruction is what you're signing up for in registering for a course with Mildred Vernia. She's tight.

Vernia m114 hybrid class is fantastic. Well, it's math so that might be over selling it. But, for those who don't like math she does a great job with this class. Once a week classes, mymathlab. Cumulative test(duh, math). Over all it's a great alternative approach to math. Take if don't like math!

I'm a criminology & criminal justice major, thought j was done with math forever and was blind-sighted with this I am terrible at math. But she puts her own notes online that make math "readable", I could actually read them at home and learn it. You also have quizzes almost everyday & they help out a lot when you destroy a test! take her!

She doesn't give a lot of free points or curve, so you have to really study, but she will do what ever it takes to help you. She wants you to succeed and goes the extra step to make sure people are understanding the material. Our class had people who got near a 100% in the class and people who failed and dropped out. In the end it's up to you.

Professor Vernia is great at explaining statistical concepts and gives a lot of examples that clarifies the material. Daily quizzes help in learning the material in a non-stressful setting since she walks around and helps you with the quiz and lets you work with other students. If you can do her study guides, you'll pass the test.

Mildred was wonderful for Calculus. I felt like she really wanted her students to succeed, and worked hard to make sure we did. I feel like the amount of work was appropriate and really set me up to do well on the tests. Her practice tests are almost identical to the actual test, so my test scores were all very good. I highly recommend her.

Professor Vernia is by far my favorite Professor yet. Her notes were very clear and the test were just like the study guides. She prepares you well and will almost always do before test reviews outside of class and they are super helpful! Great Professor and very understanding!

Prof. Vernia is a great professor. I took it over the summer so it was pretty intense. There are a lot of quizzes (you work in groups). Homework isn't collected or graded, but if you don't do it you will fall behind. Aside from quizzes, the only other grades are 4 exams with the last one being cumulative. Wish there was more things to be graded on.

Super easy class! She cares about her students and wants them to do well. Basically an automatic A for every quiz. Only 3 tests! Class is very slow-paced and you will never get behind. The reviews have everything that will be on the tests.

She wants you to pass her class. She is very helpful and gives reviews for each exam. If you know what is on the review, you know what is on the exam.

I loved Vernia! Calc is no easy class in general, but she makes it doable. Her reviews are a godsend! Personally, the homework from the book confused me more than it should've, way more than her lectures, so I just did the reviews over to prepare for exams. She's kind, understanding, and highly intelligent. 10/10. Put in the work and youll be fine.

Tough class. Lots of homework, but if you do the homework, you can manage. Tough comprehensive final exam. Lots of formulas to memorize!

Mildred does a great job with pacing out the work, so that you know what is expected week by week. She is easily accessible and always open to meet for virtual tutoring. Quizzes are not difficult as there are opportunities to improve your grade. If you take good notes then tests are not bad at all. I recommend!

Helped me to understand statistics so well. I am using what she taught in grad school. Always go to class & be look over the material before class. If you are ready for her quizzes, you will do well on the tests!

Has quizzes almost every single class. If you miss you cant make it up. But she drops the 3 worst grades. DONT SKIP. It will put you in a bad situation. She offers extra credit.

I took her online summer class. You could work at your own pace so you could take a vacation. I just had to motivate to watch the lectures, take notes, and do the homework, but after that the quizzes and tests were doable.

If you don't understand something, Professor Vernia is more than happy to help you. She made me feel like I belong at this school and that I matter. She even offered to meet for coffee and help me with anything I needed help with. A great person and professor. Class is difficult content but do your work and ask for help and you'll do great.

She's a nice professor to have and funny to have conversations with. The work isn't hard if you pay attention to her class. There are videos in case you miss class. There's always quizzes at the beginning of class each time so I recommend doing some of the practice questions she provides you with on canvas to help get a better understanding.

Mildred is an amazing professor and truly cares about all of her students! Didn't learn too much because of classes i took in high school, so the class was very easy. She has quizzes every class but you get to work with others and she will sometimes give you the answers. Tests are very similar to questions on quizzes and study guide.
