Studying classical music sounds nice, right? Well, it would've been if we'd actually learned anything about it in Music 74. The professor instead liked to escape on tangents barely applicable to the subject. I learned everything from the book.
This guy is not helpful in any way. We spent ONE WEEK on Alto Sax. I learn more from reading my book then from listening to him. I am suffering now that I am teaching from his incompetence. I rated very easy at the top but in my book that is a bad thing.
This class is extremely easy and he gives you the answers to the test before hand.
You will hate the class the entire semester but then at the end if you have enough points you don't have to come the last 3 weeks or take the final
If your looking for an easy class to pass this is it. I didn't learn much but I got an A without having to take the final!
The most boring class ever, but you only had to get 50% of the answers on the tests, the rest becomes extra credit. On top of him giving you 10 answers to questions on the tests, he cancelled class several times every month. Easy A!
the class was boring at times but worth it. he was an easy teacher. gave plenty of opportunity for extra credit. was a little hard to understand at times. go to class at the begining of the year because he doubles those points for the second have and then you dont have to go at the end. test are eas
EASY! All you have to do is write hella long essays it is 2 page minimum if you copy 8 pages out of the chapter and turn it in he will gave you quadruple the points he said i didnt even have to go to the class after 6 weeks.
Very very easy class with lots of extra credit..but...very boring!! I would not take another one of his classes again because he was soooooo boring and he was very off topic.
He's unclear and his teaching style was awful. I thought the book was better.
really esay class and lots of extra credict opportunities but the lecture is really boring and hard to stay awake
prejudice
He goes on and on about not cheating and how he likes to make people feel uneasy when they know he knows you've cheated. He also talks a lot about how the people at GOOGLE always come to him for help. Why isn't he working for them then? He gets off topic a lot but the work is easy. 1 Group project... hope you get a good group. He chooses.
after taking this class i have a better understanding of the people that work at Google, eating lunch with marlon brando, and how cheating on a paper will result in a 1 point loss on most assignments. tests are fairly easy bc they are open book, but essays are given nearly every week. attendence is mandatory.
The teacher is kinda boring, but his class is one of the easiest classes i've taken. There's a group presentation that is worth 20% of your grade, but it's easy too. I ended up being late to class, missed my presentation, and I still got an "A"
This guy is a head case. He always trails off from music to golf then to David Carr hurting his arm. Last year he tried to kick some guy out of Fresno State for comming to class late. Very easy teacher though.
Pay attention and do the work, the class is no problem
Hella easy class...loves atheletes!
As one of his FORMER studio students, this guy should not be teaching at all!! He's horrible, belittles many of his students, requires students to have lessons BEFORE 6 am, and is TENURED, this is a problem when he's turned away just about every great clar
Iteresting character, very easy so far, lots of hidden extra credit opportunities

This is the worst professor EVER!! I never learned one thing about music, and I got an A in the class! The class is hella easy, if you go to class in the beginning of the semester, he'll tell you that you don't have to come towards the end of the semester.
This teacher sucks! It is an easy pass class, but the lectures on anti cheating you have to sit through everyday aren't worth the 3 credits. He has no idea how to lecture. He wanders off on unrelated subjects such as David Carr or his smart daughter. I don't know how he is still teaching. Just do the essays and the project and you should pass.
He is a very random guy. His notes are constantly messy and he goes off topic a lot
any clarinetist looking to come to FSU, one word of advice... DONT! As one of his former students, I can tell you. Everyone from the university hates him, his studio is crap because he is the worst teacher I have ever met. You will not learn a damn thing and he has horrible tone. =) goodluck

All quizes, test, exams, and final are open note, so this class is pretty easy if you just copy down everything he writes. He's a good teacher and class goes by fast.
Ishigaki is very smart about classical his notes are terrible but if you want an easy A take him..Tests are open book and open note..what more can you ask for!!
Definately easy class but hey who needs to make General Education Requirement more difficult.
Dr. Ishigaki will be your best friend if your goal is to be successful. Students kicked out of his studio aren't fond of him because they either failed their jury three times or was not even bothering to improve their technique. Don't waste time in his studio and you will be happy you didn't.
this class is super easy. yea we have to write a lot of papers but all you have to do is copy the notes and the book and he doesn't care even though he warns you about plagiarism. everything is open note and enough points at the end of the semester let you skip the rest of the class except the final paper.
This is the worst teacher at Fresno State! He talks more about nothing then he does about music. AVOID this teacher at ALL costs!!!
Rambles on and on. Notes are scattered brained and shortly viewed by students. Not enough time to copy his lecture notes. Text book is only used on tests.
this class is very easy but its sooooo boring most of the time he doesnt even talk about music!! usually he is five minutes late to class he makes us wait for him then tells everyine they can go home after being there ten minutes because he wants you to prepare yourself for the test when they are opene notes!!! its an easy class
tests are open book. he's boring but its so easy. Do the hw and extra credit in the beginning and you wont have to go to class for half the semester.
the could easily have been an online course. his lectures are not original; they're just word for word what the book says. you don't have enough time to take down notes. he doesn't respond to email. he does make it easy for students to get 900 points so you don't have to come. he's a flake, but it's a super easy class. just do the work/xtra credit!
It's an easy A, basically. That's all this class is good for. The professor is very boring. Not once have I ever seen him look at the class. He's always looking at his laptop or at the floor. He doesn't give enough time for anyone to write info from his lectures. Easy grader. Most tests are group tests. And he gives points for going to class.
He's just ehh... class is easy, but so boring!half the people don't even show up...
Dr. Ishigaki's efficacy as a pedagogue is very low due to his transparent disdain of students regardless of their academic performance. He is puffed up with ostentation and braggadocio. In short, Miles "Davis" Ishigaki readily demonstrates a marked proclivity of verbal sadism toward those whom make genuine inquiries at appropriate times. A sadist.
this class is super boring, but easy! he's confusing and boring! BORING class.
He's really boring and doesn't answer your questions clearly. It's a super easy class though! And don't talk to your neighbor or let him catch you talking or he'll kick you out! It's really stupid because no one pays attention or cares anyways, so if you get kicked out don't sweat it he wont dock you points or anything. I never read the textbook, I googled everything.
He is a very easy teacher, although he repeats material. There is no test at all. There is just writing essay, n he gives u more than 2 weeks to complete, its very easy, all u have to do is answer the questions n u get full credit. He has an attednace sheet, however u can still pass class if u do not attend. Also there is three group presentations.
Professor I's class is very boring but very easy.1000 pts total, we had about 300 points e-credit, 300 more from attendance, and all you need is 900 points for an A. He's half online-ish teacher. No Tests, some hw. There is a final essay worth 380pts but he gives you a semester on it. You can pass the class with an A, 5-6weeks before the sem ends.
Professor Miles Ishigaki is a nice professor who understands our generation. The class is super easy. For a beginning piano class to music, he grades fairly easy because not everyone knows piano. Just practice the piano playing at least 10-15 minutes a day before the quiz date. He knows how to joke around with the class. Funny guy too. Sarcasm.
You're grade is from a few piano tests, article reviews, a midterm, final, and an e-portfolio entry (he didn't explain well how to do this). easy A if you either know piano already, or go to class and pay attention. i-Clickers used for attendance. expensive book ($75) and nanoKey ($50).He gets lost at times and will ramble til he figures stuff out
It is a really easy class. He gives a lot of extra credit, for attendance he has a sign in sheet on a table right before you come in. No midterms or exams, but there are quizzes and group quizzes and only one essay. And only 900 points is needed to get an A in the class.
He's a really nice guy, but way unorganized. He knows his stuff, but he can't really explain things without going on a tangent. His class is easy and there are many opportunities for extra credit.
He's a nice person but the way he teaches is not very organize and interesting... He does give a lot of work though and doesn't very make things clear in class. I didn't do my best in class because i didn't understand the work and never took a music class before but it seems pretty easy too. Maybe if i try harder i would have got a better grade.
He is very unorganized, he actually had a student basically explain everything almost every time we met for class. He gives journals, quizzes, 2 projects, a midterm and a final. However this class is really easy to slack off. So I don't really recommend it.
This aught to be a rating of his student teacher because he's the only one who taught (or showed up). There's almost no work and attendance isn't mandatory so if you don't care about music, this is the class. Otherwise you learn absolutely nothing. Also, don't buy the textbook! The profits all go to him and you can easily get an A without it.
I reccomend that you do not take his music 9 class. The material is incredibly generic an Dr. Ishigaki is INCREDIBLY boring. He seems like a very nice man, all things considered.
He is terrible at explaining things. Your basically learning music by yourself and you only use your textbook to do your 2 Article analysis. The blackboard journals every week are worth .5-1.5 pts that are long. Avoid this class or at least this teacher.
Facilitate Facilitate Facilitate is all I ever heard him say. His T.A explained the class better than him.
So this class is online and I always forget about it soo, if youre not an online class type of person, don't think this class. I wouldn't recommend it anyway.
This used to be a lecture, but this semester he decided to make everything online even though I am enrolled as a lecture. I know all the material because I am a musician who wanted the easy A, but the demand for online work with a busy schedule and his lack of help is horrible. He has not replied to any of my 5 emails this semester. Not worth it.
I don't think it's helpful. Not recommend.
Gives a lot of work online, better stay on op of it, Quizzes are really, really easy just come straight from book, His journals require a lot of detail and very long. better off not taking a online class at all
Okay, so his online course is a little confusing at first, but once you understand his weekly modules and the assignments he wants you to complete it gets a little easier. Knowing how to navigate Blackboard is also important because his Mus 9 is an online course. He was very helpful whenever I had questions. The class overall was an easy A.
Ishigaki was an alright teacher, work load was a bit much for an online class but it was wasn't impossible. Basically do your work and you'll ace this class, test and quiz questions come straight from the book. Seriously slacked off but went from failing to an A in the last week of the class just by doing the journals. Not an awful GE class.
good class but dont take if your not an online person
If you're someone who tends to forget about this class even if it's online, don't take it. It was a complete waste of time! There's quizzes, journals, &hw each week, tests are somewhat easy (if you read out of the online text). Unfortunately, he never replies to any emails & is never there in his office when you have questions. Very unhelpful.
This class was extremely easy. I took this as a Gen Ed and have no knowledge of music and had no problems completing the online homework or quizzes. Since it is an online class, everything is open book. It's impossible to not get an A unless you forget to do the assignments. I would definitely recommend if you are able to handle online classes.
His class is super easy, if you're not taking it online, then you do not have to go to class. Make sure to keep up with journals, and quizzes. He will reply back to emails or questions. Everything is also open book or notes, so it is the easiest A to get.
Super easy class. As long as you complete all the exams and assignments, you get an A.
I loved him! I took it as a Winter class so it was a lot of work, but very much to the point. If you do everything you are supposed to you will get an A
Online class for GE art credit. Still in progress, but so far there is more work for this class than 3 upper division major courses that I am taking right now. It isn't hard work, but there is more work than you would expect for an intro GE class...
Easy class. Took it as an online class. His hw is confusing at first but once you get used to it, it becomes super easy. There is a lot of reading and a lot of long boring videos you have to watch but every test/quiz is open book so its an easy A for sure unless you forget to do an assigment.
Currently still taking online music 9. Easy assignments and open book tests. Lots and lots of work though. Currently taking upper division Finance courses and combined they have less homework than this GE.
This class has inspired me to never take an online class again. Instructions make absolutely no sense. The syllabus does not match the actual requirements. I've also been assigned the same essay 5 times. Nothing has anything to do with music and the homework takes hours to finish. Do not take this class.I regret every minute of it.
Based on the instructions for each assignment, he obviously doesn't know how to write. Everything is so needlessly confusing that it takes nearly an hour to form an answer the length of a sentence. I don't understand how anyone could make a class so unorganized and confusing. It's unacceptable for a professional to compose something this messy.
This class is so confusing. Everything has three different due dates and nothing makes sense. The directions aren't even written in proper English. Most of the time I have no clue what I'm doing and just guessing on everything. None of this stuff assigned even has anything to do with music. DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS
professor is SUPER unclear and unorganized in what he wants u to do. But when u figure it out the work is actually not bad. i feel like you get full credit on weekly journals for trying ur best. tells u to read. but never did and just retook the quizzes again and again to pass. 2 short essays pretty boring easy A online class. I have an A
This class is very boring and tedious. We have two essays to turn in but they only need to be 500 words or more. Besides that, we have weekly homework assignments and quizes that can be completed within an hour. His instructions tend to be unclear most of the time but as long as you turn something in you'll pass the class with an A.
This class was super unorganized but easy. He gives you an outline for each week of what you need to complete but it isn't always clear. There's a few quizzes and a really easy paper. You create a few songs on your online textbook but it wasn't bad. Overall an easy A. Oh and textbook is only $15 online.
This class is very easy, but the work load is unbelievable for a G.E class. Sometimes it he asks for 5 different things in 1 journal. There is 1 Final, 10 Quizzes, 2 Music Projects, a midterm, and two journal articles. There are multiple attempts for the quizzes so do them. DO THE JOURNAL ARTICLES. The final and midterm are straight from the book!
Easy class, just a lot of little unnecessary assignments that are only worth .05-1 point but if you miss a few, it won't hurt your grade too bad. Pretty clear outline of what needs to be done for the module. Whole week to finish, due Monday night at 11:59. Quizzes and final are open book since online class. Hard NOT to get an A.
Took this class online and it was the easiest class. As long as you do the homework and posts that is required every week you will pass. Only have 2 papers and 2 projects. Midterm is mandatory but final can be opt out of if you have a good enough grade. Just takes a little effort and you will do fine.
Super easy. Shame if you fail this class easiest A.
Online music 9. It's busy work every week, but it is super easy and there is only one midterm and a final. EASY A.
Class is an easy A as long as you do the assignments. However, his instructions can be confusing as he writes really long-winded e-mails/announcements. The online skyepack textbook was a terrible read. So I supplemented my learning with youtube videos. Just make sure to e-mail/talk to the prof and ISAs for help as they are very responsive.
This is an easy online class. You have weekly assignments, test that you can google, 2 music projects that take about 15 mins, and 2 article analysis. Assignments are worth low points but everything adds up. Very easy A.
this class is by far the easiest class i've ever taken! definitely would recommend for a GE class. 1 quiz and 1 journal a week. couple papers and 2 projects.
I knew nothing about music and I Aced this class, but I also learned a lot! This class was a really fun and the professor is super nice.
Easy online class. Just need the online textbook and it is used for the quizzes/tests. Two easy article analysis. This class was a breeze. Prof is really good at getting back to you.
Music 9 was the easiest class. Don't buy the book, you are able to retake every quiz until you pass it and get 100. The questions from each quiz are on the midterm so just save the right answers, and there are 2 analysis papers. Each discussion response you get a 100% as long as you do it you'll get full credit.
Music 9 was a easy class if you the weekly work. There is a module you have to do every week and there are 2 papers that were only a 500 word minimum.
He was an easy, respected professor if you did your part. We had projects on hook theory that were very simple and fun. The textbook online helped me understand the basics of music. Overall, a fun, simple class to take.
EASIEST CLASS AT FRESNO STATE. He gives amazing feedback and is willing to work with your schedule and excuses. He is the college students dream teacher. 10/10
Easy online class. Just get stuff done and you will pass. It seems like a lot but it is super easy work.
this class was so easy (currently taking online) and you learn a lot i don't understand why he rating is at a 2.6 should be a 5.0 !! you can retake online quizzes and receive full credit. If you fall behind its really easy to catch up.
Easy professor. Just complete your woek and you are all set, even if you are late just submit it after deadline too, it won't hurt your grade that much. Save the answers for quizzes. He will give all the midterm and final exam from quizzes. Best professor ever.
EASY A. Book sections 1 to 2 pgs, TAKE notes. Take short quiz, retakes allowed. Print quiz before submitting, for reference. Few journals n blogs, cut n paste or 2 to 4 ?'s. Aforesaid due weekly. 2 Article summaries, do well on 1st(at mid) won't have to do 2nd(at end). Midterm/final from quizzes. 90 pts in class, no final. Instructions wordy,PRINT.
Overall an easy class. You just have to do all the weekly assignments, music projects, and papers in order to get an A. Do all the work and you will get an A.
To summarize i am bad at music classes and i got an A in this course homework is assigned on Monday and due the following monday and is hardly anything time consuming also grading is not hard and will give good grade for medium effort also the class is online so your not stuck in a class and do it on your own time
Really easy class. Quiz and journal entry due every week. One article analysis due- if you get a good grade on it you don't have to do the second one.
Very easy class. Weekly journals/quizes due every moday. quizes are mutiple attempts. One midterm based off quizzes. One essay which needs to be 1000-1500 words. 2 music projects. and final. Never really took too much of my time. The only thing I did not like is that they take for ever to reply if you have a question. many extra credits as well.
The online Music 9 course is SO easy. There are weekly journals & quizzes, 1 paper, 2 music projects, midterm, and a final. Set aside about 2-3 hours per week to do your work (some of the videos you have to watch are long). All the quiz/test questions are in the ebook. The paper & projects were easy. The teachers were always approachable via email.
Prof. Ishigaki is a great teacher. If you follow all of his blackboard assignments and you turn them in on time you will pass the class. Pay good attention to lecture material because quiz questions come from the lecture.
MUS9 is fairly easy as long as you stay on top of your work. There's an online book you have to purchase. There 's also weekly modules and quizzes almost every week as well. The quizzes are straight from the book online so they're pretty easy. There's an article analysis paper that's kinda tough but other than that the class is simple.
Course organization/ criteria a bit confusing. Online class divided into weekly modules. Weekly modules consist of a short journal and quiz. Readings based on mandatory online textbook. Additionally: a midterm, final, and a paper. Extra credit assignments offered periodically. Stay on top of the assignments, and the class should not be difficult.
I took this class online and I thought it was pretty easy. The material is kind of confusing if you don't know very much about the piano but if you do the work you should be fine. There are weekly modules usually containing reading and a quiz due at the end of every week.
Music 9 will be a VERY easy class for people familiar with music theory. If not, the class may be a little confusing at first since you'll have to teach yourself. There are weekly quizzes and journals. Since he wants us to understand everything, he also allows people to retake quizzes multiple times. One major research paper. 2 compositions.
This class was very good for an online course. Everyone of my friends has taken Music 9 and passed with an A so I suggest if you want an easy GE class to sign up for it.
Dr. Ishigaki is literally one of the best teachers I have ever had here at State. If you do what you have to do on time, you'll be fine. I had a family emergency and had to drop the semester. He was completely understanding and allowed me to retake the class. The class is a great GE class to take. I highly recommend it.
He is fine until you have problems with Blackboard that are out of your control, he will not give you credit if you email him the assignment even if you emailed it to him before the deadline. So therefore, he sucks.
I took this class as an online course for GE credit, I highly recommend it. This was easy as long as you pay attention to due dates.
This class is so easy I passed with an A and never read the online textbook. Just do the work and you'll pass. Gives feedback and the opportunity to fix it. 1 essay, 2 music projects, quizzes with unlimited attempts, I believe just 1 midterm, and you dont have to take the final if you have an A.
Offers plenty of extra credit, so make sure to do it. Quizzes and Journals once a week, 1midterm, Article Analysis (tough grader on article analysis), but lets you re-do it for a better grade. Easy class overall, I really recommend taking it!
Everything online - Weekly Journals, Quizzes, 2 Music Projects (basically you just have to create a piano song/beat/music, IT'S NOT HARD!), 2 Exams, 1 Paper. It may seem overwhelming, but trust me, don't stress about it! It's easy, if you just follow the instructions. Definitely recommend if you need an online elective!
I have tried to email Ishigaki and the students who are listed in the course as helpers, but none of them ever replied back. So, when you have questions, don't count on it being answered. Easy A if you do the work.
Honestly feels like an english class. I didn't learn much, but we had to write an essay. We had to redraft it a lot, and when graded, didn't mention exactly why I got what I got. I had to re-do it, but on a different subject. Otherwise he assigns homework each week, and its due before the next week. Beware of the very long videos.
Easiest class ever. Simple quizzes and paper once a week and one paper. Final and midterms are only 10-15 simple questions. Accepts late work, super late work.
SUPER EASY COURSE!! Would recommend taking this course for GE. Don't have to take the final if you have an A or B at the end of the semester!
As long as you do all the assignments, this class is an easy A. There's weekly modules that consists of reading assignments, a quiz, and journal entry. There's the standard 1,000 word writing assignment, two music projects and a midterm and final. Follow instructions and turn in assignments on time and you'll do great.
Easiest class I'll probably ever take in my college career. There are weekly quizzes (5 questions usually) and journals that need to be completed. Two music projects, one paper, a midterm and optional final (for grade B or higher) spread throughout the semester. Do all the work on time and you should get an A.
The easiest A I ever received. Two major tests and weekly quizzes. Also, an essay. As assignments he does one paragraph journals. As long as you do the work weekly, youll pass with an A. I recommend taking this course as an elective.
Easiest class I've ever taken at Fresno State. It's simple do the work, and you'll get an A in the class!
I had a fun time taking this class. I learned a lot and overall would recommend this professor.
Since this is an online course, it is required to do all of the work. If you do all the work then you'll pass with an A. There are quizzes and discussion board. 3 music projects. I recommend taking him.
TAKE HIM!!!!!!
Easiest online class I've taken. You have to purchase an online textbook, which I never really used. There are weekly journals and quizzes (answers are online), a music project , an essay, and a midterm and final. He posts modules in advance so you can get ahead. Many extra credit opportunities. Easy A if you complete the work on time.
definitely take this class. super easy. weekly journal assignments that dont take long at all. everything is pretty much just do it and youll get credit. weekly quizzes, all answers are online or literally from the book. mid term and final aren't long, also online. 2 projects that are graded easily. an easy A as long as you do everything
Easiest class I have taken by far. Quizzes every week, but they are open book and you can repeat them as many times as needed till you get them all right. Also one article analysis with two music projects that are fairly easy if you have a ear for music. (which who doesn't really) Would highly suggest taking this class.
Easiest class ever! Only spent hour or less each week, do the work and you will get credit easily. Do not have to do final if you already have 90 points in the class.
The modules are easy and the weekly quizzes are online, you don't have to take the final if you have 90 points
Provides tons of extra credit. There are 1-3 journals due every week consisting of opinions on music videos, readings, hookpad/hooktheory, etc. There is major writing assignment of 1k words about one music article and identifying the audience, tone, rhetoric, etc. Accepts late assignments for half points. Grading is weird; 93 points A not a 93%!!!
By far the easiest class i've taken at Fresno State! The modules are really easy and theres only one 4 page essay that you have to write. 10/10 would take again!
The book doesn't cost much, and is needed for the quizzes. You take a quiz and do a journal entry almost each week. There is an easy midterm and final. You have to do an analysis paper, but everything is graded for full credit if you just follow the criteria. If you have 90+ points you don't have to take the final. Easy online class.
I say there is a lot of homework but its just busy work. You have a discussion board you do every week and one essay. He is really reflective and will comment and leave feedback in the announcement sections.
Easiest GE course I've taken. I took the class online. I heard he's changed the way he does things slightly, but the assignments are pretty much the same. The modules each week should only take about 30 minutes, and you only have one essay that you need to write throughout the semester.
This is an awesome online class. I have taken many online classes and they are usually lots of work. Not this one. I don't know a thing about music, was taking it for a GE scared I would fail. The expectations are clear and there is lots of extra credit? Highly recommend.
This is one of the most easiest classes you're going to have to take. There are weekly assignments that are incredibly simple and quick. You need to buy the online book but you hardly ever use it. All of the answers for the quizzes are online. There are a lot of super easy extra credit assignments too, so there's no excuse for failing this class.
This was a very easy and solid GE class. There is a 1000-1400 word essay which you do a month or two in the semester. You do 2 projects which are not so bad, they are really easy. If you have over 900 points in the class before the final, you don't have to take it. I highly recommend this course for anyone wishing for an easy GE course.
Super easy GE course it took me about 30mins to an hour to complete the weekly work. I didn't buy the textbook and I did not need it because quiz questions are available online. There is a 1k word paper which isn't too bad, and two music projects that are pretty easy. If you have over an A, you don't need to take final. Take this class for easy A!!
Fully online class. LOADS of extra point opportunities. 1 midterm and 1 final; both are easy and contain Q's from weekly quizzes. Weekly quizzes are extremely easy. Three major music projects from hooktheory/hookpad. There is no reason to fail this class. If you fail this class, start applying to McDonald's ASAP.
Loved this class, I never thought I would've enjoyed this! The assignments are super clear and can do it without a sweat. So if you need a class to give you less stress, then this is the class! You also get to make 2 music projects that are short and have one paper to do halfway into the semester. Highly recommend this professor for beginners!
The easiest A you'll ever get. The course goes at your own pace, and all of the answers are online or in the textbook. If you have an A, you don't have to take the final. There were some music projects, reflections, and a paper you had to do, but it's nothing too strenuous. Highly recommend.
This class was one of the easiest classes I have taken as FS. The prof. himself isn't very good at emailing back in a timely manner, or at all sometimes. However, the assignments were very clear and if you put in minimal effort you'll get an A in this course easily. I know literally nothing about music and I did great.
Easy class! The assignments (activities and quizzes) aren't that difficult and there are lots of extra credit opportunities. DO THEM even if you don't need it! You also get to compose music later on which is fun and consists of two Music Projects . Just be creative!
Music 9 online with Ishigaki was super easy and you get to learn about the concepts of music along the way! There's weekly quizzes and writing assignments, extra credit is always on the table, and there is an article analysis assignment and two music projects. Do all your assignments on time and you should pass! Book is on Skyepack!
Music 9 (online) is the easiest class you will ever take. All work is busy work, assignments due every week. You should NOT buy the textbook as you will never use it. All answers to quizzes and exams are online, take until you get a perfect score. Basically if you put in minimal effort you'll pass with an A+. Lots of extra credit.
weekly modules are easy and doable (30 min tops), easy weekly quizzes, midterm and final are composed of previous quiz questions, one article analysis paper that is broken up for you so its easy, just show effort and you'll get a good grade. opens all modules with plenty of time to finish early, finished my semester weeks earlier than the rest
You don't talk with the professor at all, just his aids, so this is more of rating the class. It's easy, but takes a lot of time. Get numbers of other students, asking each other is easier than asking an aid. Also, Google is your friend. It's an easy A and I'd 100% recommend taking it.
Easiest class Ive ever taken! However, you can only contact his aids for help which is annoying. Easy grader though! Would take again.
Pathetically easy course. Every week you're given a summary of your objectives/homework that can be finished in an hour and can work weeks ahead. Weekly quiz, writing assignment, and extra credit, plus 1 semester paper, and 2 music projects. DON'T BUY THE BOOK. Answers to quizzes on Quizlet and Midterm and Final have the EXACT same questions.
At least 14 modules that will need to be completed. 10 quizzes, 1 exam, 1 final & if have an A you don't need to take. 2 music projects. 1 essay & lots of assignments. There is too much work & writing. It takes up too much time but overall easy. Offers lots of ex credits & is very lenient on due dates which is flexible to my schedule. No book!
His class was pretty easy for the most part! Even if you turned in late work, hell give you the full points. Stay on top of the readings.
Literally the easiest class ever. It required no extra thinking. Easiest and least stressful class to take online, especially during a pandemic! He is very understanding.
This class is pretty easy but can get tricky. There's assignments every week but nothing to crazy, its simple. 2 projects which is a based on making a music sound, so don't over think it. His "instructions" are the tricky part, he writes a lot so it can get confusing but he &his Was are always there to answer questions. Gives feedback, EASY GRADER!
VERY VERY easy class. He has graders to grade your assignments and they give you full credit every time. Quizzes are easy to find and the writing assignments are very simple and will not take up too much time. 2 music projects and 1 essay all three are very easy and you will highly get a great grade on them. Definitely recommend taking this class!
Weekly easy quizzes and easy writing assignments that don't take up much time at all. 1 midterm, 2 music projects where you make your own tune, & a 3-4 pg essay. If you have an A, you don't have to take the final. Dr. Ishigaki is really nice & caring and gives weekly updates. Quick graders. Definitely take this class!
Took this class fall of 2020. At first this class seemed like a lot of work, but then I learned to not overthink the assignments. I passed with an A didnt need to take the final. Quizzes are on online. Highly recommend this class for an easy A. Just do all the work, do not over think they grade easy. One midterm essay that you do have to try on.
easiest class ever, I really didnt understand music i still don't. they grade really easy you can pass even if you don't understand. one big essay i recommend to try on the essay because they actually grade that hard so try your best. all other assignments are graded essay!
Pretty simple you dont need to know much about music you can still pass. Just try on your writing assignment because they actually grade tougher on that one. Other than that youll get an A just do the work
He gives a lot of extra credit for this class, there's no way you will fail this class I guarantee you. Test and quizzes are easy and there's only about 2 essays that you have to write throughout the semester. There are also 2 hook pad projects too and I see it fun. Do your work then this class will be an easy A.
His HW instruction can be unclear, but he doesn't expect much. So easy A as it's low stress.
Professor Ishigaki course is really easy A. The textbook he assigns is his own book he made but it is easy to read. The questions are from the textbook. There is a lot of extra credit and homework that are pretty easy. Keep your old quiz answers because all exams will repeat the quiz questions. There are also quizlets that can help out too!
The class is very tedious and assigment heavy. There are a lot of quizzes, WRITING assignments, and extra credit. I did not learn a single thing in this class even if it was absurdly easy. All the quizzes including the final and midterm have the same questions that can be found online. If you want an easy A, its a good choice, just a lot of work
This class is very easy, if u fail it's your fault. He gives out a lot of extra credit. This class was great, you can't stress in this class, but it is easy to forget since it is an asynchronous class. Overall, 10/10 easy A!
Such an interesting class, highly recommend taking it though. They say to buy the book but you can easily get past this class without buying the 100+ dollar text book. If you fail this class it's your fault because it's an easy A. Everything you need is on quizlet as well.
Dr. Ishigaki's course was very simple. There were weekly writing assignments that allowed us to analyze an article or make music on a hook pad. This class is very easy, however, don't cramp the assignments last min or you'll regret it. The assignments are not hard at all, however, it can be overwhelming trying to balance them all.
I did not take his class in person, I did it online. Pretty good, pretty easy. Not an easy but it is possible to get an A. His assignments are easy but there are some papers to write and you have to find scholarly peer viewed articles. The papers were interesting to do but it did take some hours to complete them.
Professor Ishigaki is so amazing. You are able to tell that he is passionate about what he teaches. There were quizzes each week and two big projects. He offers extra credit so its easy to get you grade up. Overall an amazing professor.
Easy A. I took this class in Fall 2021. You can pass the class without buying the textbook. The Writing Assignment for the GE Portfolio was probably the most difficult aspect of the class, but still fairly easy to do. There are Extra Credit Assignments available every week. I turned in so many assignments late and still received full credit.
This class was really easy in terms of concepts, I did not use the textbook once so I found it was a waste of money. I procrastinated a lot and still did really well, but be ware because it can be overwhelming to catch up.
Professor Ishigaki is amazing. They give lots of opportunities for extra credit and if you obtain a certain amount of points, you won't have to take the final. Definitely recommend!
Super easy online class would recommend to anyone for the GE requirement. Lots of extra credit and easy assignments and is super funny. No online lectures and a textbook that is pretty much unnecessary.
EASIEST CLASS EVER! This professor assigns weekly writing assignments that are so easy to do. He assigns 2 music projects that are also super easy. Every week he adds one extra credit assignment which helps your grade a lot. I ended his class with over 100% . An article analysis is his research paper assignment. I would definitely recommend him!
SUPER EASY CLASS! Weekly quizzes and writing assignments, LOTS of extra credit. One mid-term and final, really easy, taken almost directly from the textbook. He was also super accessible through email. He can open more modules so you can get ahead to save time. I totally recommend it!
Very easy class. The textbook is not need, so save money and do not buy it. There is one paper, a quiz every week, an assignment every week, two easy projects, a midterm, and a final exam.
Very easy class for GE. You have to take a weekly quiz and send 1 weekly short assignment that won't take you more than 15 minutes to complete. The exception was GE portfolio paper which is actually graded toughly. You have a lot of extra credit opportunities. You don't have to take the final if you have more than 900 points in assignments.
Very easy class. There are some weeks where there are a lot of assignments but they are insanely easy and he offers a ton of extra credit. Exams and finals are a cumulation of weekly quizzes which are easy as well.
Overall was easy; also helps when your unsure. Don't really need the book. His class was online. There was weekly quizzes on canvas with unlimited attempts and however much time you needed. Simple weekly assignments. Also two music project's on Hooktheory which is simple and examples provided. Also final exam online 40 questions 60 minutes.
All I will say is do not purchase the textbook, it is not necessary at all. You can find the information else where so don't waste your money. Really easy class to fulfill GE requirements. TAs grade the work easily and provide tons of feedback. Easiest class you will ever take!
Here's a tip: BUY THE TEXTBOOK. Has all the information you need for the weekly quizzes. Other than that, weekly writing assignments (alongside the quizzes), 2 music projects using a free online program, a 5 page article analysis paper, 1 midterm & the final (questions based off the weekly quizzes). Not too bad and I'd take it again.
Easy GE with weekly quizzes and assignments. The textbook is helpful but not entirely necessary. Lots of extra credit opportunities. Unstuck study was great for quiz prep.
This class is really easy for credit for GE. Textbook required but the work is pretty easy. Quiz every week.
This was for my GE and it's so easy! Quizzes are unlimited tries but the exams are not. We did have assignments we had to do but was really easy most of the time it was your opinion. There is a paper due however he does create assignments that lead up to the paper to help you so you don't rush the paper. I recommend this class!
easiest A ever. lots of ec. usually 2-3 quick asmts per week. easy grader too
Can submit hw any at point in semester, vey lax. However, the assignments are not easy for a gen ed
Absolutely take this class if you need it for GE. You're able to turn in late work for credit and grading was easy. One essay in the class and it's extremely doable. Professor is kind and understanding. It's a little bit of a bumpy course for anyone with no prior musical experience, but nothing impossible. Textbook is $40 though.
I wouldnt take again.. so much work and unclear assigments
Professor Ishigaki did assign a lot of work, however it was not unmanageable, was typically very easy, and took less than 20 minutes to complete each of most assignments. Would recommend this class for an easy pass.
I procrastinated a lot in this class and I'm about to end with around an A, he assigns 1 writing assignment and 1 quiz every week with some extra credit opportunities and you get a week to do them. I got the work done within 30 minutes to 2 hours most of the time and it was definitely a easier class I had compared to other classes I got!
Great professor to take. He cares about his students and wants them to succeed. Assignment posts are very detailed. Also straightforward. His posts essentially guide you through each task. Very responsive to emails and willing to help. Writing assignments are manageable if follow the provided guidelines. He is supportive, clear, and effective.
