Really good professor. New to teaching, but does a great job of explaining concepts and takes time to go in depth enough to explain the differences and why things are important. I definitely learned microbiology from his lectures. Very good teacher.

Professor Suraokar is amazing! The test were really straight forward. He provides PowerPoint and if one solely relied on them a B would be secured. If aiming for an A though, I would recommend to read the book or at least look over certain concepts mentioned in PowerPoint. He really motivates students to try hard and is very helpful.

Great professor. I had him biology great guy really helpful and enjoy I enjoyed his teaching. He is an awesome guy and very kind and willing to help in any way he can.

This teacher tries to make Biology interesting and does a great job breaking material down so that a student can understand a volume of info. His teaching style is very good, uses powerpoints that summarize chapters of text. The teacher wants students to excel and encourages students to participate. Would take him again if I could.

The class is interesting full of fun labs. It is important to participate in the labs. The lectures are long and you have to read before hand to fully understand.

I like the fact that when we didn't understand a certain topic, he would explain it but in different words. Also, that he is one of those teachers that likes to grade not only on the amount you got correct but on the effort.

First real class I took going into my college career. Although it was a bit tough being my first real class I found that i truly did enjoy the labs. 4 lecture exams are multiple choice that requires reading from the book for A and ppts for B. 2 lab exams you just have to read the preface of each lab n understand concepts. Extra credits are available. Masteringbiology is required and due before each lecture exams. Ideally take notes with ppts as he put emphasis on the important concepts on exams

Great professor, I took this class in the summer during one of the 5 week sessions. It wasn't too bad but it was always fun and he made the class kind of interactive. Tests are kinda hard but just look at the slides.

Dr. Sraokar is the best biology professor ever. He is knowledgeable and patient. He makes sure if all students keep up with the materials, gives feedback to students quickly, and simplifies any hard topics. The exams are so straightforward and the lecture slides are so organized that you can easily get a good score if you prepare well.

Took Microbiology with Professor Sur. I think Spring 2016. Got an A - put in a good chunk of work for some tests, less for others. I learned a lot of interesting Micro stuff. The people who didn't do well were the ones who didn't have time for the course. His lectures are good, and as long as you master the Basics, but master them well, u do fine.

Microbiology seems to be a difficulty subject. Dr. Suraokar simplifies the course by giving different examples to explain complex concepts. He employs video teaching aids to make his class lively. Dr. Suraokar is very flexible, he ensures that students who have emergencies do not miss out on any exams or quizzes.

Great Prof. He teaches a complex subject in an easy to understand format. Get the basics down and you will do well. Not a class to take on an extra heavy load as it takes a good deal to study these concepts IMO. He is interesting and very caring and engaging of his students. Took a Saturday lecture and he made it worth getting out of bed for.

Great professor. If you take the time to read the material before hand then this professor's examples help clarify details. Suraokar is great at clarifying details. There are some attendance points that are part of the syllabus but nothing huge, 2.5%.

One of the best professors I've have taken so far. He's caring, knowledgeable and explains difficult material in a way that can be understood by students. Class can be hard in nature but he does provide lot of help for those who put the work into it. Of course, you have to study the material and power point slides. Would definitely take him again.

The people complaining below have obviously forgotten they're in college and wanted their grades handed to them on a silver platter. This professor is not at all easy, but you learn a lot and are better prepared for whatever medical profession you're after. Nobody wants nurses working on them that have half-assed their way through school. Right?

I took him for my lab class and I would honestly say one of the best classes I have had in a while. He is a great professor and he explains his material so easily. If you have any questions he is there to answer them. I would have loved to have him for lecture as well. He is a great professor. You just need to study the lab book to pass the class.

To pass this class with a good grade you need to: 1. Know that you WILL have to study WELL everything indicated in your lab book for every test (hav 2 write a lot) 2. Make sure you know the procedures he will ask you to pay attention to and how to use the microscope (focus slides etc) Dr. Suraokar will help if need be. Don't be afraid to ask.

Reviews tests after grading and is flexible with adjusting test grades especially if the question was vague or topic not covered in class. He is respectable, understanding and gives extra credit. He cares about his students and entertains questions during and after lectures

Milind Suraokar is Professor committed to teaching, ensuring every student gets along in class. He makes the class so interesting that you get involuntarily inspired not to miss a class. He makes you eager to learn, he also does class quizzes that are not part of the grade but just for the students benefit to test their understanding.

Best class experience I have had so far. Very concise lecture slides that makes studying the textbook very easy and sometimes needless. Very interactive and interesting, microbiology made easy. He works with his student if they have to miss a class and responds to emails very promptly. Lots of extra credit homeworks. This is a sure A grade for me.

Professor Milind is one of my favorite teachers so far. Certainly, his class is not easy to get an A unless you make effort for it. However, he's willing to listen to your study problems and trying to help you in order to achieve your goal. I highly recommend to take his class, especially for students who aim at going for nursing or medical school.

Each time in every lecture, he recaps to transition the class from previous lecture into the next one. You can't get lost! He is flexible, you can stop him at anytime and ask a question and he will answer satisfactorily. Another thing he does he makes jokes out of the lectures to keep class active and awake-never a dull moment.

This professor is about the only one in the central HCC campus that GENUINELY cares about his students and how they are graded. He reviews every single test with every individual student to give extra points for those students who may not test well or who cant explain the experiments well on paper. He cares. I would take his class again

Best professor in HCC. He explains everything clearly & if you don't understand he is willing to help you out. Lab grade consists of 3 exams, lab reports, attendance & quizzes (NOT pop quizzes) that consist of about 5 questions & he DOES provide extra credit. You can pass all his test with an A if you study his PowerPoints. Really easy & fun class.

His lecture class was very interesting and informative. He is really good at explaining the material and available if you need help. He answers emails right away. Long story short, Take Professor Suraokar, learn a lot, get an A and roll into your science major with knowledge and confidence you need to succeed and you will wonder why everyone else was freaking out about their micro class. Follows his syllabus, NO POP QUIZZES, and plenty of extra credit.

I took Professor Suraokar for Microbiology, both lecture and lab. He is the best science professors I've had at HCC and I wish I was able to take more classes with him. He truly cares about his students and genuinely sets you up to be successful on exams by teaching you the material in class and then providing all you need on his slides. TAKE HIM!!

He cares about your education, always explains everything you're not clear about. His lecture slides are interesting and quite detailed but a bit confusing because of the hierarchy. He only uses the bullets for every line; indentation itself is not enough to differentiate the ranks of the lines. Extra credits are plenty enough to raise your grade.

I was taking two upper level science classes while working full time. I had to push myself to study whenever I could. This class was difficult in certain subjects but I worked real hard and got the grade I deserved. Its not an easy class. Its not a memorizing class. You need to use critical thinking skills which helps you prepare for the future.

Professor is very caring. He makes sure you understand the subject. If you don't understand something, email him if you don't want to ask. I think the review that stated he isn't caring is not accurate. If that person truly cared about their grade, they would have been more persistent and asked the professor for help. Your grade depends on it.

I took Milind for microbiology spring '18. his lecture was easy and coherent. I did not take the 1406 but I still got an A in microbiology. I am an international student and I felt he was fair to every student. He is patient and happy to answer all the questions that students ask. you should definitely take him if you get the chance.

He is very genuine. He always treated me as well as everyone in class fairly, As an international student I felt this was very important that I felt I was treated equally. i did not take Bio1406 but still understood his lecture and lab very well. I would suggest other students chose him as professor. you will be happy to take his class.

I enjoyed his Lab class very well. the three lab exams are easy and you can drop the second or the third one. Professor Suraokar treated every student equally.i would suggest students take his both his lecture and lab class. he is very caring, helpful experienced, and knowledgeable in Biology.

I enjoyed taking this lab the workload was not a lot. exams were fair and 3 labs exams and can drop the lowest. plus suraokar was fair to all the students. he was polite and professional l. he has a lot of experience and cares about his students. I suggest you to take both lecture and lab.

He drops the lowest exam grades in lab and lecture (except final). He mentioned in the beginning of the semester that 70% of his lecture exams are based on his lecture notes, and 30% from the book/HW. His lab consists of 3 exams, and they are not difficult at all if you take your time to read the lab manual carefully. (3/4)

Dr. Suraokar is a great professor and is passionate about the subject. He takes his time to help you out, and encourages you to do better if he sees you struggling in class. I'm glad I took Suraokar's class. I learned a lot, and did well on his exams. Only thing I disliked from his class were the procrastinators and lazy people always asking to see my work.

I would highly recommend professor Suraokar's class. The tests aren't easy, but you can definitely make A's if you put in the work. What appears on his slides in red is what's on the test, which makes it a lot easier to prepare for the tests. You can tell that he really cares about his students and hopes that they succeed which is awesome.

This professor is a hardworking once in a life time biology professor. He is witty, smart and no nonsense. Ok the tests were fill in the blank and written responses so study hard. It was a little hard to get used to because I am usually good at multiple choice. Study hard for them. You have a chance to acquire practical knowledge for life. Good explanation and synthesis for practical test. Fair grader, you should attend classes, listen to explanation, read the chapter's summary and do the chapter homework; and you will pass this class easily.

He is a very good professor for microbiology. He uploads the slides on canvas so you have access to it whenever. I didnt buy/use the textbook but you do have to purchase online homework access. Your grade consists of: 3 tests(4 tests in the semester but 1 is dropped), a final, and online homework. He doesnt give a review for the exams.

He may be the best professor in Microbiology at HCC. He is very nice. Extra credit is in all the test, but you have to study. You cannot ask for the grade without studying. He makes the syllabus and assignment clearly. His lectures were amazing, I will take him again if he teaches Genetic.

Honestly, this teacher is very very good. The main thing is, if you put in the work, you get the grade. His lectures are very in depth and he allows you to record, and he also has all the powerpoints uploaded for the entire semester on day 1. I took second start and it is really good. Phenomenal Professor! Syllabus clearly lays out expectations, Professor teaches using a PowerPoint presentation that he shares with the class, offers extra lab hours to practice before exam, drops the lowest exam grade. The material is not easy but course is designed to allow students to succeed. He really cares and wants students to do well.

Professor Milind was such a great teacher. I had him for both the lab & lecture (made an A on both). Microbio is a heavy subject so regardless of the professor, you'll have to study. His slides were easy to understand, mastering biology assignments are an easy grade boost, & lowest exam grade is dropped. He also gave an extra credit opportunity.

If you put in the time for the class and study his PowerPoint slides, you will definitely do well in this course. He is always there to help and responds quickly to emails. He genuinely cares about his students and offers a lot of extra help. I would recommend the textbook for extra help on material, but other than that, you wont need it.

I truly think any negative reviews on this prof are people who did not do the work. Dr. S is hands down the best science prof I have ever had. His lectures are fascinating, he is clear about expectations, and is always willing to help. There is an ideal amount of hw grades vs exam grades. He made me love a class that I thought would be my hardest.

Don't normally do this, but overall good experience. This professor replies to emails extremely fast and you can always find him in his conferences on time. No test reviews but he flags what he wants you to know from the power points. Best way to learn is through his recorded lectures they are great and very useful for test! Don't be lazy !

Professor Suraokar was very attentive to the class and made sure he was easy to contact. The assignments were easy to understand and the material from the test came exactly from the PowerPoints.

I took this class during the 5-wk summer session online and really enjoyed it! The tests weren't too hard since he pointed out things that'll be important for them in his ppts. We had 2 discussions which were simple and interesting to do. We also had a fun group project and LOTS of extra credit. I highly recommend this teacher bc you'll learn a lot

Let me start by saying MICROBIOLOGY is HARD. In order to pass this class you will have to put in effort and time. Grade depends on the effort you put in. Professor Suraokar provided excellent PowerPoints slides and was available before and after class if you have any questions. Definitely recommend him.

He teaches from his slides and capitalizes what to study, his tests are straight from his slides. As long as you attend class and study your lab manual along with his slides you can not fail. This lab ties along perfectly with the lecture.

AMAZING professor! From all my three classes he had the "worst" rating, but was my highest grade and class I learned the most from. Test material comes straight from slides. Focus on slides, attend labs and will pass easily. I usually average low B, but this was an easy A. Caring and gives multiple extra credit on test to pass. Will miss greatly!

Best Professor in Microbiology. Not an easy A class unless you spend proper time studying. But if you attend class regularly and listen to his lectures, it helps a lot since he always makes sure his students understand the materials with detailed power point slides. He gives contributing feedback, and replies email quickly. Highly recommend him.

I took both lecture and lab with this professor. Although there was a lot of homework, its doable. Manage your time responsibly, don't leave anything till the last minute or you will be overwhelmed. He gives you slides marked with important information that will be on exams. STUDY THE SLIDES!!! You will pass if you put in the work.

Awesome lecturer, very hands on, hilarious, extremely helpful. Took him for a 5wk class and I never felt rushed or nervous. Didn't do a lot of studying and got a B had I studied a little more I would've gotten the A. He did drop E. coli on the table inside joke cause I know he checks this. Would 10/10 recommend. He's fair and tests aren't too hard.

Professor Suraokar is very passionate about teaching, and nowhere is this more obvious than his dedication to his student's success. His teaching is efficient, and he leaves no stone unturned in his explainations of even very complex material. If you need help, Professor Suraokar will make sure you get what you need. I took Professor Suraokar's lab course, this professor always gives feedback. Content is clear and comprehends by analogy. If you want to learn some interesting microbiology, take this professor's course. Also, if you did badly in one exam, He always allows you an opportunity to get extra credit as long as you study well.

Does not provide reviews, but you really do learn with his lectures. You don't need to attend class as he has them pre recorded for you, THEY ARE VERY HELPFUL! He is very caring and helped students as much as he could while maintaining academic integrity, he may seem strict but it's for your own good. He taught me so much more than I was expecting!

HE IS SUCH AN INCREDIBLE PROFESSOR! He's super knowledgeable and is willing to answer any questions we had and apply them to the real world. It's obviously a hard class, but he tells you exactly what you need to know for the tests in the ppts, so just study the crap out of those green stars and you'll ace the class!

Professor is great. He does have a lot of HW, all which he does to help your GPA. Has 4 exams and the district final. Each test was every 3 weeks based on 4 chapters reviewed each test. Does hand out a lot of extra credit. Makes it easy to study gives you GREEN stars on slides that are for the exam. Easy class if you do the work. Take him!

Phenomenal professor he is a very caring and understanding guy. He gives a lot of opportunity for extra credit as well as an ample amount of time to finish all your assignments including your group project. If you email him he gets back to you within a couple of hours; he is very attentive when it comes to answering your questions and concerns.

Took his classes in spring2022. Dr. Sukaora is one of my best teacher ever. Even the lectures is heavy, he put effort to go over all to make sure his students get the knowledge. If you need to take microbiology, I would only recommend this professor. He is amazing and primarily is lecture based. His tests are based off his slides. He has pre recorded lectures that you can watch, and everything he's teaching is interesting and geared towards health care fields. 10/10, almost considered majoring in micro because of him.

Took Nutrition. If you rate him less than 5, you're being unfair. There are no better organized and clear professors out there. You're not even trying if you can't make an A in this class. I took this in a 4-week. He was so clear and gave so much time to do assignments. If you are studying to be a nurse and need nutrition, do NOT pass him up.

If I had known he was going to be a great professor for microbio lab, I would've taken his lecture class. This is an easy class to pass if you just show up, turn in the lab reports on time, and study the PowerPoints for the exams. He is more than fair. I had an unexpected medical issue that required surgery during the semester. I had to take heavy pain medication which caused me to be unfocused and drowsy for weeks. I believe my C was fair considering all that I went through. Most of my classmates made As & Bs. If you put in the time, you can make an A! TAKE HIM!

I regret the bad review I wrote him about a month ago , the class is difficult and you gotta put effort to pass , I got a B because he explained to me the topics that I didn't understand, if it wasn't for his help I would have failed. even though most of the questions from the PowerPoints are not in the exam is important to study them just in case

I highly recommend Dr. Suraokar—he's available outside of class and is super caring. He provides detailed slides that let you know what's important to study for his exams and the McGraw-Hill assignments can really boost your grade.
