Mimi is the best math instructor you will EVER have!

I highly recommend her if your going to take Calculus. Trust me, U will learn
you will finally understand what you are doing in math

You will work very hard, but YOU will learn alot!!! Great Lectures and Fair!
Best instructor I've ever had, and oh my god, SEXY!!!
Her great personality totally carries the class. She has a killer bod too!
Her class is fast pace, but you will understand math. It's her way or the highway
very fair and does a special dance for students when you pass
Never a dull moment in her class. You're always on your toes, but at least she gives unlimited time on tests and quizzes. Great teacher.
Wonderful teacher! lots of work and test's so if your lazy shes not a good teacher, but if you want to learn calc shes the best way to go
If you want lots of work, like 4-16 page take home quizzes(8 quizzes total), she's the teacher to take...But the best thing is there is unlimited time on in class quizzes and tests...Material is hard but she breaks it down...its like "diffeq for dumm
a little bit cooky at times, but she's definitely an AWESOOOOOOMMMMEEE instructor!! take her class and you won't be sorrry!!
Best math teacher I've ever had and best math teacher u could ever ask for. Gives u thick take home packets, but breaks down the math so u understand it, very helpful with preparing you for the tests. Makes math fun and interesting, you will learn a lot!
She expects too much from the student! If you want to know your math then she'll train you. Tests are hard and she fast as hell!
she is an awesome teacher. Might be a little hard if you have trouble understanding the material. She makes you want to work for your grade.
Great teacher. Probably the best one I've had. It's hard to find a teacher who actually cares if you learn or not.
Best math teacher ever.. she does a belly dance at the end of semestre
She is a really great teacher. She really cares about her student's education and getting the most of it. She does assign a lot of work but every thing is really helpful for midterms and final. She is the best teacher ever.
she's rude, obnoxious, annoying and I had the worst time with her being that way, i couldn't learn and didn't want to with her.
She is a little demented, but you'll get used to it and will even start to like her. I like the informal manner in which she teaches. She doesn't follow the book word by word like most teachers, instead she will teach in an original and funny way.
Take her. You will learn!
very good teacher. explains things very well. Is that you Mimi, the registered user?
Great teacher! Very helpful and if you listen she will teach you.
She can teach, but she treats you like a baby. Too much homework, and takehome quizes.

Can you say a bad 80's pop video? Mimmi still wears bannana clips, t-shirt ties, and listens to talking heads but a brilliant and dedicated teacher. Don't expect a free grade! not easy but very good.Don't take unless you can commit. good to take b4 GR
Simply THE BEST MATH instructor. I don't say this, she an award winning instructor. Take her!
Anubody that says she is a good math teach can suck a d#@!. She really cannot teach and is really demented. She should get fired immediately.
SHE IS BY FAR THE WORST TEACHER I HAVE EVER HAD IN MY LIFE
She is very mean. Not only is she the worst teacher in school but also in the whole world. She expects you to do too much homework and the tests are very hard! You have been warned.
She acts a little crazy when the class doesn't do well on tests and quizzes but I can tell that she means well. I can understand why some people don't appreciate her outburts.
never in my life have i had an intructor who spent 20-30 min of the class insulting, and cutting down students. Mimi needs to focus on teaching and acting professional (she lacks in both aspects) I trully disliked coming to this class and Mimi Grifkin
This is one PSYCHO B&$*@! How the h@ll she ever got hired by SWC is beyond me. She's downright mean-spirited and breaks all rules of decency. If you're self-abusive, then take her class. She'll save you the trouble. If you have any self-respect then RUN!!
do not take her
Great teacher. Very hot looking. Nice dance at the end of the semester :D
Mimi is a good professor but I hate her damn grading. She marks off like 2000 points for putting the wrong sign on a midterm. I learned a lot from her but her grading F@#$% me up big time. If you have a lot of time on your hands then take her class...othe
she's a great math teacher. One of the best i've ever had. She's kind of hard, and crazy, but she's very good. She assigns alot of homework, but in the end you will know your math very well. You get alot of time on your tests, she allowes you to finish them outside of class.
Really mean and vicious in the begining, but that's only to filter people out. Aside from all the insults and cursing (which can get pretty entertaining) her lectures are decently clear. She does play favorites and tends to side with students who do better in the class.
Mimi Grifkin was such a good teacher she is clear in what she teaches and if you review and actually do the review quizzes you should do well because that is basically what is going to be in the test. Her lectures are clear so you can understand teh material. She is an exxellent teacher. Hw is Opt.
Mimi rules! all the dedicated and serious students I know love her. Shes clear, fun, and down to earth. Some students forget that college isnt going to get any easier and she wont pamper you as such. If youre serious I highly recomend if you cant dedicate yourself to working then you cant blame her
all the rumors about her being a great teacher are TRUE! this class takes a lot of hard work. you have to study if you want to survive. and do the hw too. the class isn't as easy as it used to be, but hey... you're in college now so get over it. she was very inspirational! =)
Teaching style not for everyone but it works for me.
I LOVE YOU MISS GRIFKIN YOU HAVE PUT A FUTURE ENGINEER OUT INTO THE WORLD WITH YOUR FAIRY DUST TEACHING, THANKS!!!!!!! I PUT CAPS LOCK ON PURPOSE! BUT TAKE A BREAK YOU DESERVE A VACATION!!
Ms Grifkin was AWESOME. She tells you straight up that she will kick your ass...and she doesn't lie! It's not an easy class but it will prepare you for your next level of math. Shes very straight forward with her lectures and open for questions!
If you are thinking about taking mimi grifkin as your math teacher, i suggest you to think it twice. She doesnt collect the homework but do it ... if you wanna pass the class.she covers the materail very fast. She also assingns you 20 pages take home quizzes.if you flunk the final you flunk the class
How can I say this is a way that you will understand....DONT TAKE HER. She gives out alot of work. This class really stressed me out. I guess if you are only taking a few classes then its fine. Otherwise dont! Her style of teaching might not be for everyone so think twice. Shes quick to put u in pla
She is too fast. You wont learn during lecture. To much homework. I dont call that teaching!
MIMI IS THE BEST TEACHER IN THE WORLD!!!! I LOVE HER TO PIECES !!!I recomend any of her courses!! I wish every teacher was as cool and smart as Mimi!!
Mimi is serious about teaching students and expects serious students! She will teach you ALL you need to know to survive, but if you do not practice what she shows you YOU WILL NOT DO WELL. But thats how it should be for any math class. She will hammer you for minute details, mostly trivial..but if you can pull an A or a B you WILL be a MATHSTUD
Mimi is a very good teacher. If you want to pass do all the homework and also study hard. I love this teacher she is hard but I learn too much thing and you'll be fine for the final. Oh...., if you don't pass the final exam you will fail the entire course. Take her if you are a serious student.
prof.grifkin is one of the best math teachers ive ever had. shes very blunt and acts real tough, but you can tell she works hard to make all the info stay in your head. first time i took a math class that i couldn't fall asleep in. HIGHLY recommended to try and not miss a day because she covers material super quick.
Best teacher of math ever. She gives u everything to succeed. It depends on you if u wanna pass. She's mean at first but I'll say its just to filter "wussies".

Ive only had her for about 3 weeks now, but so far she has been very clear on what to do and how to do it. She is good at what she teaches and I find the class to be easy, so far. She drops your lowest test and quiz and she doesnt check homework, but you should do it if you want to do well on her quizes and tests.
She is my first math teacher at southwestern and Ive only had her for 3 weeks now, but so far she seems to be a good teacher. The class, at least right now, is really easy and she is good at explaining the lessons. She does give homework but doesnt check it. You should do it though cause it helps for her tests and quizes. She drops your lowest quiz and test too. Overall I think she is pretty good.

simply the best teacher!!!
She is good!I'm about 8 weeks into Mimi's class and i've never regreted any bit of her lectures. If u want to be in Mimi's class, make sure u are hardworking and willing. Take every bit of word she says, especially the first day of class, its for ur good. I recommend her for u, she's the best.

wonderful professor. after this class, i actually feel more confident in math now. taught math in a way that ordinary people like me could understand it
Very good teacher. Will help with anything u need (math realted). If you are focused and not lazy you'll like the class.
nice and very clear when she explains, it is easy!
[WANNA LEARN ABOUT MATH? simply TAKE HER!] She is AWESOME!! You gotta study for this class so hard! She teaches everything you got to know in that class. She even covers some useful materials for the higher course too. She talks and writes super fast and you want to pay attention all the time. She's smart, funny, helpful,& awesome!!
A living Nightmare...No help at all, if you get it good if not not her problem, very hard, quiz and test are difficult and has NO respect for the student!
Professor Rasky is the best math teacher that I've ever had in my life, and I mean it. She serves you everything in a silver plate. But she's really strict with her GRAND RULZ about attendance policy. So if your class starts early in the morning, watch out for your tardies, cause you can either get dropped or lowered a full letter grade!
She is probably the best Math teacher I've ever hard. And I'd claim that she is as a matter of fact the best teacher of Southwestern College. She's Harvard quality or better.
Really good teacher, you get 10 absences before being droped. Knows what she's talking about, so funny sometimes! Great time! You also get a little tired of her yelling all the time.. and she's totally 60's!
Tough, but knows her stuff and really cares if you get it or not. Prepare to study, it is math after all. Do your homework even if it is not collected, it is the only way to really ace the exams.
Great teacher!! She has some things that does tick her off, like attendeance and if the class avrage is a D, man you better bring some diapers. She might yell a lot, but to me, when she did yell she got the point across. The best math teacher I had, and hope to have in other class. NEED TO STUDY HWK(not needed to do) AND NOTES to get an A and B
This Teacher is Awesome! It's true, she does get upset when students do poorly on exams but how could you? After all, the practice exams look VERY similar to the test! I wish she tought math 244 but she wount be teaching it. Study the Practice exams! Do HW= 'A' in class.
She's the best teacher I've come across in college.
One of the best teachers Ive come across. I had her for math 45 and she was great. She always keeps your attention. Shes cares about the students so much its almost disturbing. Take her if you want to understand Math!
She is the best math teacher I ever had! You just need to be on top of your homework(online) and study for the weekly quizzes and 4 midterms. I will take her again for math.
Prof. Rasky is eeeeeaasy. Why? NOTES! You can use them, which makes it easy not to study! If you dont get at least a B then you might be a tard.
Ms. Rasky takes every reasonable precaution so that her students get an A. She hands out practice quizzes and tests that are almost mirror images of your her tests. Their easiness is compounded by the fact that the problems in them are taken out of the assigned homework. Lastly, she allows for notes during tests.
Class is challenging regardless. Requires a lot of information to know so write PERFECT notes. Missing one day will be critical. Homework is optional. She gives you handouts that are similar to quiz and midterms. Must be perfect on quiz/midterms or else lots of points will be taken off for simple mistakes. Study HOMEWORK and handouts to get an A.
Do whatever she tells you to do an you'll do fine.
Ms. Rasky is a great teacher...be ready to do your homework and study hard. she may seem a little tough but it's for your own good.Take her class and you will be more than ready for your next math class.Ms. Rasky is Fantastic
GREAT!!! Write down every her word/number: they are GOLD! If you're good in math, you probably don't need the test... DON'T miss a class. Practice the SG Handouts many, many times before the tests, do your HW online the same day, and the A+ is garanteed.
MiMi Rasky is da BOMB! She's really helpful. If you know math, then it's a piece of cake. I recommend her to EVERYONE! DON'T MISS CLASS! DO THE HOMEWORK! STUDY!!!! Online h.w. is very important. STUDY for EVERY test. She makes it seem like you're going to**** yourself, but she's a GREAT professor. Take her. You won't regret it! BEST TEACHER @ SWC!
Seriously DO NOT take her. She treats you like you're in middle school. Starts the first part of class telling you all of the things your class has done wrong. If you miss ONE homework assignment, you're dropped from the class, no acceptions. She does not care if you pass or not. The more people she drops, the better she thinks its makes her look.
She is on crack. Bragged about how only 6 of her students made it to the final spring 07, and only 3 passed. If you miss one hw assignment, you are dropped. It's ridiculous! 1/4 of the people were gone by the 3rd week. She is too set in her ways, and I wouldn't even recommend her to my worst enemy.
She is great. If you like math, take her with any doubt. If you are not good at math, do not take her. Honestly, you will learn a lot from Rasky. And she is so hawt :|!
Mimi Rasky is for serious students. The class is not a breeze. You have to work hard, but Mrs. Rasky is such an efficient, powerful professor, you will be very well-prepared to do your job as a student. She gives crystal-clear lectures with several examples, helpful handouts, and an amazing attitude. I can't imagine math with anyone else now!
Professor Rasky is wonderful. She is intelligent and really cares about her students. She wants you to do well. Her animated, outgoing, and funny character makes class interesting. Her lectures include little segments about life. You will learn a lot, not only about math but life as well. I suggest that you take her class.
Rasky can be quite a character. She wants things done her way. Shes tough, she does brag alot about how she enjoys dropping students and she tends to embarass students, but when it comes down to it she really does help. I would recommend her if you're willing to work hard and attend class daily. Don't miss any hw assignments or you're gone.
Ms. Rasky is by far one of the best teachers I have ever had. She is absolutely 100% crazy but in a really fun way. I laughed every single day in class because she's so much fun. Her notes are like gold so don't miss class. She is clear about what she wants from you and the tests are very straight forward. You'll learn a lot about math AND life
The only word that would fully describe Mimi Rasky is "CRAZY". She is one of the freakiest techers but the best one in the whole world. If you want to learn and want to be prepared for the next course, you must take her class.
Insane in the membrane...but probably the best teacher i've had in a community college. Take her if want to be prepared for a 4-year university.
Take her!! you will learn a lot. She actually cares about you. I took her for Calc II and I am taking her for DFQ. She really makes every topic look simple. Her tests and quizes are hard but she gaves out hand-outs that contain hard problems, do them! and you will do fine. She doesn't collect HW... but if you really want to pass, do it!
STAY AWAY She has no idea of what a teacher really is, and what they are supposed to do. STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!She thinks she is the best teacher in the world! ha
i have no clue wat the last person is talkin about. i am a UCSD graduate and RASKY is THE BEST PROFESSOR I EVER HAD... yes its true. so real mathematician should take her. very beneficial!
She published a book that goes with the Larson textbook. The book brings Larson's math lingo to our level. She bases her quizzes and tests on the practice ones in her book. She highly recommends buying it, and which I did, because it did help me alot in her class. Most of the content was on vectors and integration of 3-D models; be ready! HOT!
She is an amazing teacher. I would recommend her to anyone taking this class. She is helpful, spunky, wild, and useful. She knows what shes doing, so take good notes.
Mrs. Rasky is one of the best math teachers in the whole world! Not exaggerating here! She knows what she's doing and she's really good at it. You will learn A LOT and makes you feel that math is so easy. And for those people who give bad comments to her. Well, ask yourself if you're doing your part as a student!
Ms. Rasky is CRAZY!!!!, but she really knows her stuff and she is fair. do the homework and buy her book, she puts problems from the book on her quizzes. Really great teacher!!!Be ready to study a lot though if you want to pass. She is crazy serious about attendance too, if you miss more than 3 days you get an F!!
Best Math teacher I have ever had. Clarified everything with relevant examples. She is tough, but she really wants you to know the subject. The text she wrote is wayyyy better than Larson! If you are an engineering or math major, you better take RASKY! She previews what you will need to know eventually for future classes. One of my best teachers.
You do learn in her class but thats because she is not that fair when grading. She seems to care more about the answer and take away massive points for mistakes that she even made in class. As I said, you do learn but because you have to study like crazy in order to get a good grade, not because she is a good professor.
She is not that nice when you ask her questions, she knows she is intimidating and she likes to intimidate students. Some of us were wondering if she actually rates herself since one time she got upset in class because someone gave her a bad rating, plus, most of us think that she is not as great as this ratings say... I've had better professors
Professor Rasky is a great teacher. To be honest, she is pretty tough but you learn from her discipline. I am for sure going to take her for Calculus. Highly Recommended.
DEFINITELY PECULIAR. ALTHOUGH SHE CONSTANTLY PROCLAIMS HER TEACHING TECHNIQUE AS SUPERIOR TO HER FELLOW PEERS', HER BIAS APPROXIMATIONS ARE PERPETUALLY CONTRADICTED BY HER DISTRACTING & IRRELEVANT CONDUCT. RASKY SHOULD ATTEMPT TO FOCUS ON THE OBJECTIVE & THEN MAYBE PERHAPS SHE CAN BE TAKEN MORE SERIOUSLY. OVERALL, SHE RESIDES IN MEDIOCRACY.
Nah, she's alright. She is a trip a times and does do hastey section lectures at times, but she tries.
A seemingly very angry woman who is constantly making off-the-cuff, unprofessional, inane, irrelavant comments that have nothing to do with math and everything to do with her own personal issues that reflect obvious psychological "issues", insecurities and a grandiose ego: for example, "humiliation is the best teacher"...." I have my 'man' at home
In thirty seconds or less of your first day of class you will immediately realize she is not playing with a full deck. Clearly she is struggling with some sort of mental illness---obviously she is on medication. She constantly makes comments that make it clear she has issues with the male gender---a real "man-hater/man-eater". To men--watch out.
not an easy teacher... she works and works you making sure you get the concept right. her style is pretty fast passed but she explains it well enough to understand what's going on. you really have to work to get a good grade int he class. i pulled off with a B. If you really want to learn your stuff, take one of her classes. you will learn it.
She is mean. Her rules seem unreasonable. She always shows up as a good prof. I do not like it at all. Teaching style is alright but not having a smart way to solve problems.
At the beginning, M.Rasky instills fear getting rid of all the lazy individuals. However even though her teaching methods may be intimidating, I'm so grateful that I had her as one of my teachers. As long as you do the HW and study good you'll pass without the book. Thanks to her, the math I'm in now seems like cake. She builds a good foundation.
nothing but GREATNESS. If you want to get your money worth, take her. She teaches the millon dolllar version and you still pay $26.her teaching style is agressive, but its what's best for math. The class I am currently is cake thanks to this crazy woman. TAKE HER CLASS! besides, she takes EVERYONE.(enrolled, waiting list and crashers)
Very agressive woman. With Math rule issues. She absolutely hates when people divide by zero. If you do, she will scream "DEATH!!" at the top of her lungs. I like her though, she knows what she's doing, and likes it very much. She is also very intimidating and you will be afraid to ask a question because you think she might try to humiliate you..:)
Guys, seriously? The class for the most part consists of only men, there's prob 2-3 girls, do not blame your frustrations on sexism, because there is none. If you want a teacher who will challenge you, and actually cares about your education take Rasky, if you are lazy and just plan on doing nothing and getting an "A" take someone else
She might actually be crazy-BUT she knows what she's talking about. She has an aggressive, sarcastic and rude humor and personality, yells/cusses at the class, and has constant temper tantrums. HOWEVER, if you want to learn your stuff, take her! Tough grading, intense quizzes/tests/midterms! Had to drop, but content is worthwhile if you like pain!
Bottom line is she can't teach, is very cruel and will publically humilate any student, particularly males, whom ask her a question in class. She screams and yells, talks about her horrible father who verbally abused and belittled her(he was an engineer). She has issues w/men. Very strict, hard & merciless grader no mercy. loves to fail students
I did not know the meaning of hard work and studying until i took this class. Trust me, if you put your time and effort you will get no less than a B. She is one of the best teachers I've had who knows how to get the information into your head. You will actually learn something and it'll definitely pay off once you take higher math.
If you want a "c" grade or worse, take here class. Why would anyone want to take a teacher known for being so "hard", when all they look at when you transfer are your grades?! Not how "hard" the teacher was. At UCLA all they cared about were the grades.!Because that's what determines your ultimate income;otherwise, you could just get "F"s.
Took her Spring 10, it was a really hard class and I studied like Ive never studied before. A quiz every week and like 4 "midterms". ALOT of HW, if you dont do it you're really gonna regret it. Even though she screams alot and seems intimidating, she's really an awesome prof. just get to know her and she'll warm up to you. crystal clear teaching.
Great teacher, has a spicy little attitude keep you awak, alert. I want to pound miss Rasky ;p
she is intimidating at first but then she will treat you better once all the lazy people get out of the class.. ask for help and she will do everything she can to help you understand. DO THE HOMEWORK AND PRACTICE! its a math class don't expect to pass the class without working..
This is one of the toughest teachers I have met in my life. She will not make your life easy. She will scream at your face if it is required to be done, or probably sometimes just for her amusement. Yet, she is still a very clear teacher. She has an interesting way of teaching. Take her if you have the time and dedication.
She got upset once when she found out she had a bad rating and yelled to the class about it, it was hilarious. She is helpfful thou, i did learn from her. She has some age and she looks like she got stuck on the 90s but she is extremely hot!
Ms. Rasky RATES HERSELF.. She thinks she is the best teacher in the world, but NO. Again don't be fooled she rates herself.
She is rude. She doesn't respect students at all. She thinks you all fool.
she is HORRIBLE! she's always yelling, her tests are very hard - I'm a MATH TUTOR, studied my butt off and still got a B in her class. Her final is 9 pages long, 1000 points but there are some problems that are worth almost 100 points! She also docks points for ANYTHING. She is a frustrated drill sergeant. So glad I don't have to see her again.
took mimi's class and was challanged... not an easy A, but she cares a great deal about not just the class but the developing each individual to there streangths (mine is not spelling ;0)
She is an AWESOME teacher. She gives you everything you need to get an A in the class. She makes you pay attention on the way she presents the class. If you do your homework (which you do not hand in) you can pass her tests with ease. I only did 4 hours of homework and got an A in the class. She is an awesome teacher but you NEED to put your part.
The best teacher I've ever had in my life. Turns books' dry language into a very flavor and colorful to make the material way easier to grasp. She's always willing to help you. Got to work hard and DO HOMEWORK and ASK QUESTIONS, go to office hours. She does excellent work, however you have to meet her halfway. A must take!!
She is AMAZING!!! wonderful teacher, she is not like other teacher with pity, she is sooo REAL! she keeps you notified with your grade and is straight up with you! Love her. she will have math tattooed in your brain! <3
Calc 3 is only difficult if you dont study. Study the lectures do hw from the calc book and from her book. Rasky is a great professor. She only tests you on what she teaches you. You'll feel so smart at the end of the semester. Class is fast paced because there is a lot of material to cover. She is helpful office during hours where its not so fast
Calc III is hard. Her class is not an easy A, but studying properly will get you an A. It is very fast paced so copy lecture exactly, its clear enough to understand later. She tests you on lectures and HW. No excuse to fail this class, she gives you everything needed to pass.If you cant handle her class then maybe its time to reconsider your major
loves to kick your ass& she'll do it. One of the most incredibly clear&concise lecturer ever come in counter with.very straight forward, even will tell you, "hey this is going to be on the test".several quizzes& 3 exams. BUY HER SUPPLEMENT&go to O.H. She's a great conversationalist. She's had so many lives. HI MS.RASKY Its michelle:)
Excellent lecturer, where previous Calc 2 profs suck at she does so with an excellent flair. BUT, she is a HUGE stickler for details. Pay attention or else you're grade will be affected. If 250 or algebra is weak, don't take this professor. Expects strong 250 and algebra skills. Pray to God I pass.
AWESOME AWESOME PROFESSOR!!!!!! take her
Overall, she is what teachers should be, minus the screaming of course ;D. She may be hasty sometimes since she almost always runs out of time, yet if you do your homework, I can assure that it will be a lot more clear. Also, just out of fun, she reminds me of elitist dota players screaming at you for not doing the correct thing hahahah.
In the very words of Mimi Rasky "if you like PAIN you are in the right class". Oh and PAIN is capitalize because she would scream out of her mind, and do it constantly out of nothing MANY times at the same class. Math 251 is a Hard class with any teacher but with Mimi is PURE PAIN. TAKE HER IF u want to study your butt off and still PRAY you PASS.
Best Professor Ever!! She is funny. Not easy by any means. I am a student at UCSD and made the decision to drive all the way down to chula vista to take her class. She requires constant labor but it all pays off. But do prepare to always be 10-12 minutes pass scheduled time. Do all the hw and study hard, as any respectable college student should!
You better go to church and start praying to whoever you believe in, this woman is the Dana White (UFC prez) of Calc 2. She takes pride on riding the world of crappy engineers and will tear your butt a new one. And she will fail people, not afraid to do so. It will be a cold day in hell before I take her again. Drop her ass like a hot potato.
The best math teacher I've ever had. Took her class a few semesters ago, and ever since, no one else has measured up to her excellent teaching ability. I'd continue taking math classes if she taught them all.
By far the BEST math teacher I have ever had. Ya she might give a lot of homework but if you're complaining about that you're lazy and don't care about your grade. My calc 1 and 2 teacher sucked n she basically taught me calc 1,2,3 all at the same time :) I think she was born to teach! You should really take her
i took math 130 with her the java programming class. the class itself wasn't hard. she may seem like a hard ass during class but she is more than willing to help you during the lab.
Great profressor, Best professor I ever had.She inspired me to study to excellence as she always says. Before talking her I fail 2 times calculus, but with all of her lectures notes, quizzess, practice tests, and homework assignments she really makes you learn, she could sound scary because lots of work to do, not easy but she is the best, I love her
A MUST TAKE. DE could be hard however she's gonna walk you through nicely and gently. She's gonna teach you stuff that is not in textbooks that will help a lot. She's going to bring the technical vocabulary from textbooks down to Earth and turn it into a more straight forward one to grasp material more easily. A MUST TAKE. Thanks Prof. Rasky!!!
Avoid this professor if you value your sanity. She must have written these comments. 1000 pt final, 100-200 pt quizzes (yes, some are take home but that's an excuse to make them harder), crazy amount exams (yes, flashcard notes, but reason to make it harder. Her notorious reputation is even known at National and San Diego State Universities.
is a perfectionist, and if your quizzes/exams are not perfect-- the exact way she taught in lecture, she will deduct A LOT of points. grades really hard, goes through a lot of examples but does it really fast. really intimidating to talk to, hard to approach.
Rasky is a gangster. She will eat you alive, spit you back out, but you'll at least learn some math while you're being devoured. To get an A, pay attention, do the homework, and don't be late/absent. She has a strong personality (she will yell, throw dying markers at the wall, and fly across the room) but there's never a dull moment in class.
The first F i ever received was in this class, but when i re-took it i got an A. Looking back, this was one of the best things that happened to me. Professor Rasky is one of the best professors EVER! You're never bored, and at the end of the semester you will learn a ton. She helped me find my major, now i go to SDSU learning what i LOVE! TAKE HER
Best teacher I have ever had. She is so thorough and you will know the material at the end of the year. She gives long take home tests but her exams always contain questions that were covered in lecture or quizzes. I highly recommend her.
Rasky truthfully gave me the “Trillionth Dollar Version” of Math 251. I felt she explained everything in the best way possible and her passion towards teaching mathematics was very well transmitted in every class meet. Before the midterm day she gave us practice ones to study and be well prepared, do those to succed. Also pay attention and do HW.
She is crazy!!! You have to attend class and be on time. After three tardies/absences she will fail you after the drop date. She doesn't collect homework but you should do it bcause some problems on her quizzes are the same. Most of your grade depends on Exams. She makes you feel stupid when you ask her questions and she's always in a hurry!
Professor Rasky is the best professor that I have had the privilege of taking. Her teaching style made a normally hard class very easy for me. She is absolutely dedicated to her students and wants everybody to succeed. I would highly encourage taking her class. She isn't an easy teacher, but that's what makes her class worth taking.
This prof knows the material inside and out, and conveys it well. She's very clear about guidelines, what's expected of you and how succeed in her class. The class is not easy but she makes the material accessible through many examples and exercises. The best thing is that when you finish the course you are able to write viable and organized code.
Prof Rasky is amazing. She explains math so well, and she never leaves you in the dust with her teaching. I don't know why people complain that her tests are hard, she lets us use notes. She gives a lot of take home quizzes "to keep us kids off the street", as she says, but they prepare you well for her midterms, and they are usually pretty fun.
not recommended for students with full loads of classes, hypocritical and contradicting at times.
It is a very tough class, so be prepared to spend majority of your time working on this one class. Exams are VERY fair, no surprises. You get what you deserve. She may be a tough grader, but if we do mess up on a problem then we deserve to get those points taken away. Overall she is a great teacher, but could be a tad bit nicer (
Awesome professor, makes you work for your grade, but if you do everything she tells you, you can get an A NO PROBLEM!!!! love her :-)
If you have other classes other than calc III don't take her an avoid her a all costs. She assigns way to much work and the concepts could be understood with out all the work. She teaches really well but its WAY to much work and she grades harshly.
She's a demanding professor and this is a challenging course that she gears towards CS and Engineering majors. Lab assignments are due every week and account for 25% of your grade. Three tests (45%) and the final exam (30%) consist of questions that require that you quickly and accurately find the errors, determine the output, or write the code.
Thank you professor Rasky, you are the best Math professor I ever had, I'm going to miss you a lot,I'm transferring to SDSU in the fall, but I will never forget all that I learned with you
Apparently mean and evil but in reality niece, she is amazing , professor Ms Rasky is bomb, the best math professor out here, I would take her again and again, you work hard but you also learn a lot stuff, and if you want to learn take her, she is very clear and specific on what should be learned, and sometimes she is funny as well, I love her :)
Amazing math professor, she is really funny too, screams and yields but makes class really interesting with her class is never boring
Really wants her students not just to pass, but to understand! She's one of the few profs who lets her personality shine through. Her lectures are engaging and thorough. Buy both textbooks, do the HW, don't let yourself get behind. If you can only afford one book, get HER book, it saves lives! Tests are long but very similar to HW.
Best teacher I have had, where her classes tough yeah, where her classes demanding absolutely, but they weren't impossible to pass without an A. Her teaching style is amazing she will keep you awake for the whole class so there is no need for coffee. Breaks down most complicated topics and makes them understandable . Recommend you to take her!
Ms Rasky Your are unique in the whole wide world. I doubt there is anyone like you out here, thank you for all your teachings, and pushing ourselves to learn beyond what I thought to be possible, thank you for all those practice quizzes and practice finals I still have them :) They surely more than prepare me for the next chapter as an EE student
Pros: Good lectures and very helpful in office hours. Cons: She wants all her students to do everything her way, even if there's another way which you understand better and is legal she still wont allow it. She teaches the class specifically for engineers, so if you're a math major you're screwed b/c she monopolizes the class.
Be sure to take the time to have her look over your code for your labs, she is very specific about how things should be done. With her limited availability, I would hunt her down to clarify the specs of every lab. Study for those mid-terms as well!
She's the perfect professor, take her and be prepared to learn and do homework.
Mimi Rasky gives her students who attend every class and complete homework in excellence the tools to get an A in her class. In this class I have learned so much from calc 1 and 2 that was never covered and she actually reviews those concepts before introducing the concepts in calc 3 that require the fundamentals of the previous calculus classes
Best professor ever, she is such an inspiration and really cares about her students. Her class may not be the easiest but you will learn more from her than any other professor. Do yourself a favor and take her class, she is really nice and wants her students to succeed. Hands down, one of the most awesome people I have ever met.
Best, yet most difficult professor I've ever had. She cares for her students so she wants to see them succeed. Projects- She's very specific on what she wants you to code. Midterms- Difficult. Make sure you have a good grasp on the concepts. Final- Lots of curve balls. She added things that we've never seen in past exams & practice exams. STUDYHARD
Amazing professor. Will more than prepare you for future courses with a high confidence.
Professor Rasky is amazing and works really hard. She puts together her own notes, is very organized, & holds weekly quizzes that she always returns in a timely manner. Her lectures are very energetic! A lot of students complain about her work load and teaching style when they should have just taken the time and put the work in. Bring your A game!
lectures are full of knowledge(Attending her lectures is like going to Costco. Knowledge is offered in wholesale!) .Get some coffee if you partied too hard the night before. Her lectures are "dumbed-down", so very easy to understand difficult material DO NOT expect an A+ without working for it. MAKE SURE you pay attention. Respect to be respected.
The Rask: avoid at all costs. Talk to former and current students of hers, and you will understand.
Fast pace and tons of homework. She's tough on us but she is preparing us. Great lectures, great explanations. Very lively person. Only sore losers don't like her, people who want an easy A in other words. You need to work hard to pass, can't expect her to hand you a grade. If you are determined and a hardworker you will pass. I learned a lot.
Best professor I've ever had. She's intense and makes you work hard, but she's also always available for you. She cares about her students so much. She comes off to some people as aggressive, but in reality she's nice. Prof. Rasky is tough, and there's a lot of homework, but if you're ready to put in the work, she'll prepare you really good.
Best professor ever! Really interesting and energetic lectures, very clear as to what she wants to see on exams/quizzes. I learned more in her calc 3 class than I did in 1&2 combined. Not only a great professor but she is there for her students as well. She will help you in other Math/STEM classes during office hours if you need help, 11/10 person
Amazing professor. Seems very mean but she really wants students to learn. The course is very difficult but she breaks it down completely. I would take her again and again. She really teaches not like other professors that don't teach you anything and then expect you to do stuff that they don't even know how to do.
Exams are LONG, coding assignments aren't that difficult (although if you need help, ASK HER. She loves helping students), her course reader is super helpful (it has practice exams in it!), and she gives tests back at the next class. She's EXTREMELY lively, don't expect a curve, and if you want to be a good coder TAKE HER.
Fantastic teacher, difficult class but she gives you complete access to everything needed to pass her class
You have to show up to this class! Prof. Rasky is a great teacher but only if you show up to listen to lecture. Majority of your grade is based on midterms and the final and Rasky gives you practice midterms HARDER than the real test. If you show up and do the work the class is a breeze. Rasky A+ !
Professor Rasky is a tough but great professor. Computer Programming is difficult in general but she helps you learn and prepares you for the next class. Lab/Homework due every week but they help. If you are willing to work and learn then take Rasky.
I took Rasky's Math252 by choice, and Math130 by her recommendation. I am glad I took both with her. I used the math far later in my physics courses, which was easy to apply frorm her engineer perspective. Though I was reluctant to take her Java (Math 130), it aided me in a job I enjoy and earn respect for. Her classes make you LEARN the material.
I took Rasky's Calculus class a year ago. I transferred to other college with Electrical Engineering major and it helped me a lot, especially with vector calculus and integration. If your plan to major in STEM, take her class because it's the basis for the others, and also she's fun and enthusiastic (if you come to her office hour).
Honestly I don't like to take math class with Mimi Rasky, if you like math take math class with her but She leaves many many homework, every week is to take exams, and much work with her.
This i the best math teacher I have had. I went to her office hours whenever I could, and she would help me when needed. She makes study guides for every midterm and the final. She gives you everything you need to succeed, the grade you get, is literally what you earned
Very thought and rough but you will learn a lot. If you are a Math or engineering major you have to take her. I have never learn as much with any other professors. You will be prepared for any math classes afterwards. She is also very funny and you will never be bore in lecture. Beware she gets very mad if you late to class or don't turn in work.
if this is the only class u are taking then ul be fine her material is not hard she makes her class hard because she prefers to have u solve problems her way only, she will not specify She leaves tons of hmwk even suggests students quit their jobs and drop time consuming classes to do her hmwk if u are taking other classes u wont have time to study
Rasky is intense. Intimidating. Passionate. Sometimes funny in her own peculiar way. For her, writing typing, so be prepared to write everything. Despite the amount of paperwork to turn in, she goes over every assignment with a fine-tooth comb. QUADRUPLE-CHECK your code. You'll miss super easy points otherwise. She'll give you study guides too.
Unless you are a mathwiz do not take her class, you will be left behind.
She is probably one of the hardest professors i've ever taken ..i was doing really good at first but her test and quiz are super hard. At the end i failed because of 1 one and she didn't want to round it up so i had to retake the class
Some students were not getting good grades in the homework and she said if the average homework grade isn't a C then everyone is going to get an F for the next homework assignment. Other student's failing hurt you, what kind of grading is this?
She wants everything done a specific way. There are many ways to do certain things, but she only wants them they way she said it.
After taking her class I realized the importance of putting in hard work and at the end having the amazing satisfaction of knowing that you actually LEARNED calc! she gives a lot of homework, but you need to do it for practice. She gives practice exams to help you. Passing her class made me feel proud of myself... Take her and stay focused!
She's a great lady who's an excellent professor with a few minor issues. She asks you to buy quite a few books that aren't very helpful, so only buy her course reader. She lets you use notes on all the tests and quizzes, just be a dedicated student. I managed to ace it while taking Physics and Data Structures.
She is a great teacher. You will understand the material. Calculus is going to be hard no matter what teacher you take but she will take her time to help you understand. She gives a lot of quizzes but the point of them is to make sure you understand the concept. You can pass the class depends how hard you work.
Gives a 5% boost on your exams by doing what you are supposed to do (completing all of your homework with 70% or above and passing all quizzes with 70 % or above. She even hints at specific problems that may be in the exams. She is also very charismatic and will help you with anything during office hours.
She's a really great teacher and makes the material understandable. Do the homework proficiently and really pay attention during lectures and you will pass the class. The course reader for the class is the Calc 3 holy grail, use it to your advantage so quizzes and tests will be in your grasps. She's also funny, quirky & full of energy, even at 8 am
I can only explain my experience with Professor Rasky this way if you want a great education in Calculus with the best professor take her.
I took her class 2 semesters ago and I can honestly say that there is no better professor than her. It is true, you are going to have a lot of homework and quizzes and I mean A LOT! however, thanks to this style of teaching I knew exactly what I was doing every class. Don't get scared of the homework & quizzes, it's really worth it at the end.
Teacher, not professor, expects you to read 150 pages per week. If youre no good at math she will not bother helping you. She told me that this is not my career path. I missed one class for a family emergency and she refused to help me understand the subject. She makes jokes about suicide too. Maybe being a teacher isnt the right choice for her.
Rasky is very enthusiastic about teaching. She explains things clearly and when you need help. She is very picky about how she wants you to solve problems. It HAS to be done her way. She does not understand that you can solve a problem multiple ways. Tough grader, even if you have the right answer, youll get docked if its not done her way.
She is very passionate about teaching you Java... even though it sucks. She can be ruthless and her style is not for the weak minded. She has a funny way of keep you attentive and focused during her lessons. Its a great way to learn but it can be pretty old school so buckle up.
Prof Rasky is the best math professor at SWC. For those leaving negative reviews are probably lazy people wanting an easy A without learning the core material. First time taking calc 3, she easily made it be my favorite class. She is so passionate about teaching, lets you use sheets of notes for every exam/quiz, genuinely cares. She's awesome.
Blunt: She's a difficult class, she will give you a lot of homework so slacking off or leaving homework at the last minute is futile. Unless you're a genius. By terms of genius. You understand the material and not struggle. I took her class knowing full well about the rumors. I took 2 classes and I thought I wouldn't pass her class but atlas I did.
If you care about your education, take this professor. She is a very good and thorough instructor and you will learn a lot.
If you care about learning how to code and if you're willing to put in extra work , then Professor Rasky will give you all the tools to continue on to Math 140. She grades precisely, gives a lot of labs/hw, and class is lecture heavy. Sounds tough because the subject is. I have been to two Programming classes and this class I got well my $$ worth.
Love Rasky! Even though her class was at 7 am M/W/F I was never tempted to miss it. Homework was optional, lets you use a notecard/sheet of notes for quizzes and exams. She's very particular about how you solve problems on exams, just do it her way and don't try to argue and you won't have any problems. Also drops lowest quiz score at the end
Never had coding experience before and succeeded in her class. Professor Rasky is a solid choice for students wanting a strong foundation in their programming skills. I got my money's worth and would gladly take her for another programming course. Her course reader plus the optional textbook make a great pair to truly understand the concepts.
check this out, checker-outters. if you have the option to take a class with prof. rasky DO IT. she knows exactly what shes talking about, shes ALWAYS available to talk about your grades, shes also straight to the point. youre allowed notes on all quizzes and exams. very enthusiastic, im considering being a CS MAJOR because of her.
Lecture is way too fast. You understand at the moment but then because she goes so extremely fast during lecture you dont have time to process what your even doing (copying the notes). Tests are 7-10 pages long. Make sure you can do the problems in less than 2 minutes. I droppped the class bc I never finished the test therefore not passing tests.
There is a lot of material and she moves really fast. She really cares for your education. Review the lecture notes before the exam and put in the effort to learn the material. Amazing teacher if you care to learn.
Professor Mimi Rasky is one of few who cares about her students and their learning. She will go above and beyond in helping those who seek help with labs and projects. Miss a class? Youll fall behind, it is also a tough course and requires dedication. Take her if you want a solid foundation on Java and want to be prepared for follow up courses.
Mimi has a lot of experience in the field of coding. She still maintains contact with and mentors many of her previous student. It is very important to her that we develop good habits in our coding, and she will force us to learn them. I consider her a very nice person that will go out of her way to help students.
Oh Professor Rasky, she is one unique professor. I have a love and hate relationship with her. She is AMAZING/FUNNY and I would take her again. If you think you can get an easy A though, think again LOL. She will make you WORK for an A. Practice the problems in her course reader, that is KEY in passing. Hate the hw load but love her overall.
If you're lazy then DO NOT TAKE HER. She gives you MULTIPLE chances in getting a good grade. I love the way she teaches, apart from Cliffe she is also a math professor I recommend. Both really care about their students and care if you UNDERSTAND math. I don't feel like a robot and I can honestly say I understand. TYVM Professor Rasky! <3
One the best academic experiences you will have. She's going to make you work for the grade you want. she's going to teach you the entirety of the course and more and she will test you on it but you will come out of the class thanking yourself for taking such a challenging but caring teacher.
First time teaching this course. Her textbook is a self-made reader tailored to her lectures. You don't program much during class, but she stays for a lab after the Friday class for you to finish up and have her help with your programming lab. A great professor, fair but firm grading. Do the work, show up, participate.
I feel grateful for having taken Professor Rasky's Math 230 course on computer organization and architecture. She requires he class to be active in the course and encourages her students to continue growing. Her course provided me with a better understanding of high level programming. I would enjoy having her as my professor for other classes.
My go-to math and compsci professor. Her teaching style makes anything unforgettable, bolstered by genuine enthusiasm for your success and the concepts lectured. Structured lectures that emphasize the stuff that actually matters, delivered conveniently through a course reader. She makes anything easy, and I wish she taught more STEM classes.
Currently in her Calc III. If you are not taking any other classes you should be fine. Answers to her quizzes and exams are her way or the highway, you are probably better off with a different professor honestly. Her lectures are rapid fire and her homework is extensive. I had her for 2 weeks in calc II and switched professors.
It would be best if you go to someone else during pandemic times; She would want her classmates to do her way, no matter what; She contradicts a lot of what she says; She will say, you can use the notes from mathlab and then later on says don't follow them;If you show up to ask for help. She will do the bare minimum and will humiliate you. Rapid lecs.
Professor Rasky cares about her students understanding of the content more than their grade. She is always informing the class of her office hours, where she'll spend time going over anything the students would like her to, ensuring they understand the coursework. She can grade tough, but if you learn from her grading you will improve.
Rasky is such a gem. One of the funniest teachers I've had for sure & you can really tell she cares about her students. My only tripe with her is that she's a really tough grader. You have to do it her way or the high way and she's not flexible at ALL even if with pandemic going on. Cool teacher, class is hard as hell.
Here's what my experience for remote learning with Rasky was like. Quizzes will be given every Sunday & due by next class(2 attempts allowed, no rescheduling, no exceptions). All tardies & absences are counted against you(even excused ones). She does hold office hours and does want you to learn. Overall, good teacher, but unrealistic expectations.
A very difficult class, but if you want to feel comfortable writing code, you should take it. You may feel discouraged to take her for this class, but every single thing you do in this class is worth it. She makes you feel like a professional. Do things her way and you'll end up with a very deep knowledge of Java.
Professor Rasky is an amazing teacher! She does whatever she can to support you. Even though her class and grading are tough (not much curving), it really benefits you in making you pump up more your studying habits. She wants you to learn, you just have to properly be self-motivated to grasp the concepts. I do suggest taking her class strongly!
Professor Rasky is an amazing, humble person and is very consistent with her assignments and lectures. She gives students many opportunities to seek her help and understanding on the lectures and homework. If you are willing to put in the time and effort to understand her style and work then you will pass the class.
If you want to learn, Professor Rasky is the best option. It's not the easiest thing, but her style of teaching will prepare you for Physics, the next Maths you'll have to take, and your major in general (if you're a STEM major). Do yourself a favor and take Calc 3 with her.
Ok, you're a CS major, now you have to take your Assembly Language class, of course, taking this class is key for your major... but let's put it like this, taking this class with Rasky will mean a step even further in your career. She's been writing this amazing book for this class and it will prepare you for a huge bunch of stuff. Take her class!
There are certain problems that she expects you to do the way she teaches in lectures for quizzes and exams, but she goes over these in lectures. Weekly quizzes except on weeks of midterms. I barely went to her office hours but she did have them. Her homework assignments can have upwards of 30 questions but there are many examples and similar qs.
She's a good professor but man is she a pain in the ass as her homework assignments are upwards of 20+ questions which ends up taking about 2+ hours to do if you actually try to work them out by hand. Allows you to do the homework late but for -2% for every day after the due date. Pain in the ass when it comes to quizzes as they are 2 hours long.
Pain in the ass lectures if you are remote as she will grade your notes that she has you do in her specific course reader that you have to buy and if you have one mistake in your code for the lab, say bye bye to your grade as I had one mistake but my program still ran but gave me a fat zero so it nuked my grade. Also anal about a lot of specifics.
Best Professor ever, lectures include all the material, doesn't make math difficult at all. Don't miss lecture because she covers pretty much everything in it. We barely used the textbook, but added extra questions to cover LITERALLY everything needed. Quizzes weekly, they where helpful to pass the midterms and final. 100% recommend.
Prof. Rasky is an enjoyable teacher and great at lecturing. However, she tends to ramble and if you have any questions, she may not be able to go into too much depth at the rate she teaches. Expect to stay within the pace of her teaching and try not to get left behind in homework and attendance as every previous content will be applied to the next.
Professor Rasky's teaching style is best fit for engineering majors. Lectures consist of brief introduction followed by tons of example problems and often applications to physics/engineering. Theorems are given very little motivation, and the proofs are hand-wavy. HW/Exams are largely plug-and-chug. Consider the Honors option if majoring in math.
i actually liked taking her class LOL. she makes u buy a course reader, but its literally everything u need condensed into a book. she makes u take quizzes n practices exams which are superrrr similar to her exams. if she says its gonna be on the exam, its gonna be on the exam. pay attention, go to class, n do the work n u should be good.
Professor Rasky's class is definitely not an easy grade and she expects you to study and learn the material. Her expectations are high which many students might find intimidating. However, if it wasnt for her high standards I wouldn't be where I am now. Now I work full time as a developer and am grateful to have had her as a professor.
homework is just so much the very fisrt weeks, after that it gets really test heavy
Tough Class, I took it right after my Calc 2 summer. Very good for Math Majors, Lots of examples from course reader($70), Midterm examples before the exam, like %5 extra credits. Cons: Fast-paced, Lots of Homework(don't take with other STEM classes), Strict GRADING, You must know MATERIAL WELL. Don't miss class. This is not an average experience.
Rasky is an amazing professor, she is very knowledgeable about her field of expertise and offers help outside of class. ONLY take her if you're a comp-sci major or something related. She is very straightforward and intimidating, but if you meet her expectations it'll get easier. Midterms mostly determine grades, and class is a 3-hour long lecture.
As advertised, you will learn a lot and it will take a lot of your time. Very doable though, you can NOT procrastinate on things, you will get crushed. Great prof and willing to help, accessible office hours and very helpful tutors available
I aced her final and it saved my grade. I read comments from years ago and it's funny this professor never changed. She grades harshly for things that don't matter such as white space. She tanked some of my lab assignments 2 letter grade or more over white space. She says it's fundamentals but I really think she struggles with grading the material
You'll have to dedicate all your time/energy into completing homework (about 50-100 questions weekly) and she docks points for the smallest things (even if you got the correct answer, if you didn't use her method, she'll give you a 0). She also told me my major is useless and that I'll never find a job in it (suggested I go into CS instead).
Great professor, lectures are extremely clear and easy to follow. Biggest challenge is the homework, however its all online and you can submit it anytime, just 2% gets deducted everyday its late. My biggest tip is don't fall behind on the homework and really do it. If you can do the homework and quiz, then the exam is should be easy. JUST DO THE HW
If you don't show work her way, she will not grade your work. Makes rude comments throughout the lecture and gives too much homework. Prepare to lose all your free time if you want to pass her class.
I took Professor Rasky for Calc 3, I would highly recommend her if you're a stem major. Her calc 3 course has prepared me for my physics classes. Her classes are tough but you will learn and get the skills needed to succeed in math/physics courses. Her grading is clear, and she is accessible outside class for help. Her class does require effort.
Wants you to show work in a very specific way. Prepare to lose all your free time if you take this class. Very rude and condescending
If you're a bright or diligent student, avoid her class. She talks excessively, dragging on lectures and wasting time. Expect online quizzes every weekend and a heavy load of homework, leaving little room for deep thinking. However, if you struggle with self-discipline, her structured approach might help you learn more.
Good teacher, bad person. She is an amazing professor, goes fast and likes things done her way but pay attention and take good notes you WILL learn. Homework and overall workload is VERY heavy, weekly quizzes and difficult tests. She is VERY condescending and thinks she's the best professor in all the department. You will be challenged but its doable
Rasky is condescending and arrogant, awful notes, profits off her students through a workbook that she sells and makes a requirement (other professors also sell workbooks, but they keep the cost to a minimum--they dont profit unlike Rasky). She'll likely reference this review, she is snarky towards critics. Take Professor Villanueva instead.
Rasky as a person is nice most of the time but could be very strict. If you do not remember anything from pre cal or cal 1, you will struggle a lot. Around 40 questions per hw assignment. I studied for hours and hours and it was good enough for a D on exams, retook the class in summer w different professor, studied the same amount, n passed w 87%.
Overall good professor, gives good and quick feedback from exams and quizzes. Be ready to write fast in her lectures and to study for online quizzes. Teaches every subject well and doesn't skip on anything. Her attitude can be arrogant and exams can be pretty long, she expects for the course to be your priority in life.
Rasky was by far one of the best professor's I ever had, she truly wants you to learn and know what it is that you're doing. Yes, there is a lot of HW to do but it's all to help you develop and know what you're doing. Unfortunately, I had to drop due to reasons but she has prepared me well for my second run of Calc 3.
She gives lots of good feedback on quizzes/test. Clearly explains what she expects on quizzes/test so you follow instructions to a T. She cares about her students and their learning. I prefer her teaching over many other methods. She is very blunt to students and keeps it real. Taking the class won't be easy but you will be all the better for it.
After taking her Math 251 class, I would strongly recommend her. She cares a lot about her students and strives to make you be better. Although she does give a lot of homework and a weekly quiz. Getting through her class gives me the confidence that my math skills are extremely solid and I am fully prepared to take on math classes after Calc 2.
If you really want to have a good foundation for programming, then Professor Rasky will definitely prepare you. The course reader that you will get in the class goes over everything very well. The exams were lengthy and the lectures were mandatory so if you are in it for the easy A then this is not the right class for you.
Lots of homework and weekly quizzes but they prepare you very well for exams so if you do that you will most likely be fine without anything unexpected being on there. If you really want to hammer in calc 2 concepts then this is the class for you.
