She gives a million opportunities to get extra credit. Her english is not the greatest so you need the text, but overall a really good teacher who cares about her students grades.
Very personable and helpful one on one. However during teaching her explanations are not well thought out, her English is difficult to understand. Easy to get good grade because she gives practice tests, and reviews. Overall an OK teacher.
Professor Zhang is really awesome and truly cares about her students. She is in love with chemistry and is willing to do anything to help her students get a good grade. She gives so many extra credit opportunites so if you don't get an A it's because you're simply lazy or don't care about anything. She has a heavy asian accent.
Very difficult to understand. She doesnt really teach, just reads slides off of a pre-made powerpoint. When she does attempt to teach, her work on the board makes almost no sense. Bad professor, but very easy tests and lots of extra credit
Exams are very easy and she tells you exactly what will be on each one (you also get to take a notecard into each test). Gives quizzes at the end of most classes, but they're ridiculously easy and she lets everyone discuss the answers with each other. Her accent is pretty rough but SI sessions are there if you need help.I would HIGHLY recommend her.
Takes time to explain everything and will go back over material if she notices people are confused. She gives out study guides that are different but the same format as the tests given in class. She does random iclicker quizzes in class so showing up is recommended.
Language barrier for those who aren't used to hearing unusual dialects. Gives practice exams that don't accurately portray all the material that will be on the real exam. Moves far too quickly through the material at times and pulls straight from the book. You'd be far better off skipping classes and reading on your own, but attendance is mandatory
She is one of the worst teachers I have ever had. She doesn't explain anything and hardly shows work or examples on the power point. And when she does your screwed unless you speak Chinese.
The language barrier makes the class a bit difficult, however, you are able to understand her more throughout the semester. Tests are fairly easy, and the practice tests give you a fairly good idea as to what will be on them. I viewed Dr. Zhang as a pretty average professor.
Incredibly thick accent made her hard to understand, gives out random iclicker quizzes to check attendance but tests are kinda easy, Get ready to teach yourself because unless you can understand her through the accent you won't learn anything by showing up to class,
Very difficult to understand through her accent, which isn't her fault. Goes through material very quickly and assumes that everyone in the 200+ people lecture has a thorough understanding of chemistry before coming to class. Takes attendance through i-clicker quizzes.
Her accent may be hard to understand at first, but after the second or third lecture, I was able to get what she was saying completely. She explains everything extremely well, and makes sure to be as helpful as possible if you have any questions. She is a very good professor, and seems to genuinely want everyone to do well.
She has an accent which can be a little hard to understand at first but after a few lectures, you're able to understand her. If you put in effort to pay attention during class, you will be fine. She gives practice tests before every exam and the exam is usually just like it. Overall, she isn't as bad as everyone makes her out to be. Easy A.
Min Zhang over explains everything to the point where she over complicates everything. Also her test are your primary grade and you need a 91 for and A which would be fine except her exams are maybe 15-20 questions so if you miss more than one question youre not getting an a. Iclicker are required for attendance and half the time they dont work.
Lots of hw, but it's pretty easy and can be done fast. Does plenty of examples in class and then does I-clicker quizzes to check for attendance. She's very helpful and easy to talk to during her office hours if you don't understand something. She gives practice exams which basically mirror the actual exam.
Horrible at explanations and overcomplicates easy concepts. However, the material is not hard and can be learned independently (which is very much needed with Zhang). Easy A if you show up and try. I never approached her outside of class but everyone who did said she was helpful in that context, so maybe she just wasn't made for a lecture hall.
Although she definitely has an accent, it's not nearly as hard to understand as others are saying. She uses iClicker a LOT. The iClicker quizzes count for part of your grade, and she uses them to count attendance. The class isn't that bad.
While Zhang tends to overexplain the more simple concepts, her class is pretty straightforward. She gives out practice tests before each exam that if you do and understand you will get an A on the test. Make sure you come to class; clicker scores are a big part of grade. Zhang is really a nice woman so If you need help, go to her office hours
At first can be difficult to understand but it makes you pay more attention. Once you do understand you realize she is actually great at explaining and tries her best to make sure everyone knows what it going on. Homework is on owlV2. Tests are MC and close to study guide. Iclicker quizzes every class for attendance.
She does have an accent, but it is not that hard to understand her. Also, she takes iClicker quizzes every class to take attendance, so show up. Her test reviews are very similar to her actual tests, so if you understand them, then the tests should be easy
Min Zhang is a very tough professor that tends to speed through the lectures. Often she would not offer more than one example for each problem before giving a clicker quiz on it. Her accent is thick, there is quite a bit of homework, and no extra credit. However, she is VERY accessible outside of class and is willing to work with you if she can.
Strict rules on electronic devices
awful.
Fast pace
Dr. Zhang is the sweetest lady. She does have a thick accent but it's not hard to understand. The class is realtively easy and doesn't require much. The study guides are almost identical to the tests, which are less than 20 questions. I wish I could have taken her again for chem 112. Dont buy the textbook.
Sweet lady, accent is a little hard to make out. Try and sit close to her in big lectures she tends to be a little quiet. If you ask questions she will answer them so go for it.
fast lecture. must stay focused or you will miss something. she is asian but accent does not bother me. she changed her grading material spring semester compared to the fall to make an A in the class. may change again so be aware. not to difficult is you put in effort. practice exams are a copy and paste of the test. recitation will save your life.
regret taking this professor.
It isn't really her fault the class was so hard. There was no SI session and the only other SI session during the Spring was while class was in session. There were no practice exams for the course so all learning comes from a few short minutes of recitation and spending hours on the worst learning software ever, OWL. Hard to understand.
She made the class way harder than it needed to be. Her exams did not reflect material learned in class or recitation. Her exams are also the kind where if you miss one question, you'll miss the next 3 that rely on the first question. Avoid taking her class, other sections/profs are usually late at night but its worth it.
Shes very nice but goes through her powerpoint very fast, dont worry because its the exact same as your lecture book, attendance is mandatory and taken with iClicker WHICH WILL BE A LARGE PART OF YOUR GRADE. All homework is online and you have a week to do it so its very reasonable. Theres only Exams homework and iClicker quizzes for grades
She's an okay professor, she goes really fast through the material. She gives iclicker quizzes every class and they count for attendance. If you miss more than 7 classes you will fail so go to class. She does have an accent but its not thick to the point where you can't understand her
She is a very cute and sweet lady but has a bit of an accent. If you ask questions, she will gladly explain it so that you can understand the topic better. She sticks to the notes and is good about letting you know what to expect on the exams. Also, she gives iclicker quizzes every class which count for attendance so they are easy credit points.
she seems like a hardo but a really good teacher, she does not give extra credit or curve grades but i def recommend. you will pass if you show up and follow along
Dr. Zhang is a solid professor who lectures well and conveys material appropriately. She didn't give as many study/review materials before exams as other professors did with their classes. She seems very sweet and seems to want her students to do well. iClicker points are graded BOTH for accuracy and for attendance. The guided lecture book helps!!
She gives iClicker quizzes every class session to take attendance, and to make sure you're paying attention and that you understand the material that she is teaching throughout the lecture.
Oh man-where do I start. LEGENDARY- in short, is how I explain the blessing we know as Min Zhang. She deserves far more clout than her current ratings. She is very concise and clear on what you must know and does a great job relaying the details. Min is absolutely priceless and excellent at what she does. TAKE HER. PERIOD.
Chem111 is a harder class but I think this professor teaches the information great and knows chemistry well. She is hard to understand at first but it is not bad. I would definitely take her again.
Dr. Zhang is super nice and she explains things very well. Her accent is a little hard to understand t first, but you get used to it. She takes attendance through I-clicker quizzes which are graded based off of right or wrong answers, but she always does a very similar problem right before so they are hard to miss. Practice exams exactly like tests
Iclicker points are used every single class so make sure you go. The homework is based off of what you learn. Get the lecture book. The tests are almost exactly the same as the study guides. Overall good professor.
Very nice lady. At first her accent is thick, but you will get used to it. It's not that the material is that difficult, she just goes so fast it is hard to retain the information. If you email her and want to meet, she is more than happy to help. SI sessions will be your best friend in this class.
Little bit of a language but not hard to get by you just have to listen closely. My main problems are that in class, she goes through how to do equations and plug in numbers, that's it. Her lectures are very disorganized and her handwriting very hard to read. She doesn't explain why things happen or apply the material, so it never sticks.
She gives practice exams before each exam that are the same types of problems as the actual exams. Attendance is taken by an iclicker quiz every class and are helpful at the end if your grade needs a little boost. Accent is there but not hard to understand. Teaches at a fast pace but as long as you study and do online hw you'll do fine. Take her!
She is very good at giving you enough details to understand but not too many to where you are confused. She has a lot of iClicker points which help your grade quite a bit as long as you go to class. The homework is online and is pretty easy and counts for a lot of your grade.
At first she can be kind of hard to understand, but once you get used to it everything starts to click because it forces you to pay attention. There's iclicker quizzes every day that count towards your grade and attendance. Her practice exams are really helpful for exams. Definitely wish she taught 112, too, I would've taken her again.
Very good teacher it is a lot of work but it is possible. She makes sure everyone understands the material and make sure you have an iclicker. The study guides are very thorough and if you study you will do good on the test. Just keep up with the homework.
Teaches you stuff the very day of your test, then gives you an iclicker quiz that's way harder right after. Gets mad at students when they don't get a question right. First test was 4 chapters with no references, the class average was so low she tried to kick out students that were struggling because she didn't want to look bad.
Zhang doesnt care about any of your problems. She basically just wants you to turn in your work and get a good grade on it. If one person gets and A to her that means everyone should because that one person is capable. She is so fast-paced you can barely breath. She often says if you make one bad grade you wont succeed. Definitely dont recommend
Professor Zhang goes through material very fast. She expects students to practice outside of class. Not challenging if you put effort into it.
Worst professor I have EVER had. Quizzes every class on material just learned. One person gets A she expects everyone. So fast during lecture and ignores questions. Writes with a sharpie so impossible to read and has a thick accent. If you miss one minute of lecture you're screwed. Practice exam not like real exams. New material taugh on test day.
Dr. Zhang is more difficult than other chem teachers, but definitely makes it possible to understand the content and pass the class. Quizzes during every lecture so make sure to attend. Zhang makes countless practice exams and other resources to help with studying for exams, so there's really nothing to complain about. Weekly homework.
Dr. Zhang is a solid professor, however, her thick accent can be hard to understand at times and she doesn't really explain some topics in much detail so some external help may be needed, such as office hours, etc. Her class is pretty much based off of 3 tests and 1 final, so be prepared to study a lot out of class in order to do well on the tests
HAH this class in an absolute joke. She doesnt care about her students whatsoever. If you email her with questions you wont get an answer. Fail a test? Better buckle your seatbelt because the only things graded are.. the exams, the hw average, and the iclicker quizzes. One point away from an A or even a B? Get over it bc she wont help you.
This is the first time in my whole life where I have experienced failure in any of my subjects. Definitely won't recommend this teacher.
I really enjoyed Professor Zhang's class. She makes sure to go through all of the examples and explains them thoroughly. This class was challenging, but if you practice and put in the work, you should be fine. She is very nice and cares about her students. I highly recommend taking her class. Textbook optional.
Professor Zhang's class is just A LOT of work. The lectures are just her reading from the notes that you have and not really a lot of elaboration. There are iClicker quizzes almost every class, and the final grade is determined by 3 exams, a final, a hw average, and iClicker average, so make sure to depend on exams basically.
Dr. Zhang is a really good instructor when it comes to teaching. She has an accent which can be a bit difficult to understand at first, but you get used to it after a couple of classes. She is very nice outside of class as well and is always willing to help. As long as you reach out when you need it, you'll do fine in her class.
I think Zhang means well, but she just doesn't understand how hard you have to work to do well in this class. I studied more than I ever have and did badly. You cannot depend on her to learn at all. Get a tutor, go to SI, study a ton. But take someone else if you're not naturally good at chem.
Lectures were not helpful, too big of a class to feel like she actually cared about each student individually, emptied my wallet with required material, online homework access, and iclicker products.
She was very difficult and not the most understanding professor Ive had. I didn't understand the material and dropped it after receiving a 33 on the first test.
This was 100% the worst class Ive ever taken. Min was proud of the fact she has a 30% fail rate, and hardly helped students who were struggling. She really made me feel dumb. Even though I got a B, I still cried over this class 3x a week and nearly dropped out of college completely. This is coming from a normally straight A student. Don't take this
just don't do it man
Terrible teacher. Would strongly not recommend her she barely helps you out and tries to rush all the lectures with little to no explanation on the content and doesn't actually tell you what you'll need to know. Exams are meant to fail you because have little time to do them. 75 minutes is not enough 21 questions each require lots of work and steps
At first it was slightly difficult to get used to how to understand the content, but after a while I picked it up and did very well. Get ready to study, material is not something you can understand just from the lecture. SI highly recommended.
If you do not love science take a different teacher!!! Prof Zhang SPEEDS through the content and makes absolutely no sense. It is very hard to understand and you are unable to answer questions. Attendance isn't mandatory but she has iClicker quizzes everyday that is basically our attendance so if you don't show up, you lose a point. lots of stress
Don't recommend Zhang. She goes through the lecture by doing lecture notes without explaining anything. She does not care at all if her students understand the material or not. She would remind us every class when the last day to drop the class is and clearly did not care that so many students had such a bad grade they had to drop the course
She goes through material very quickly without much explanation. You will definitely need a tutor if you want to pass this class. She has an accent that can make it difficult to understand her. Would not recommend.
Zhang does speed through lectures relatively quickly but if you attend SI sessions and study enough on your own time the material is definitely manageable. The final grade is very test-heavy and the only other grades you get are for in-class quizzes and homework. Overall, shes not great but not horrible, if you want to pass its on you!
I love Dr. Zhang so much that I am taking her again next semester! She emails back very quickly, provides old exams for you to practice with, and does the in-class quizzes with the class & gives the answers. She goes through the material quickly, but that how it is in Chemistry. I got an A on every exam- if you work hard you will do well!!
it doesn't really matter which chem prof you take, since all the students follow the same notes, take standardized exams, and have basically the same homework. Prof Zhang is a solid professor. Her class can be boring, but what chem lecture isn't. Like the other chem profs, she posts practice exams. Don't buy the iclicker remote, just get the app.
I took her class online and didn't really attend lectures much after first month. I didn't think they were particularly helpful since you had the notes. I would go back and copy notes and stuff from them but not necessary to attend on time. Tests were hard, but that's also just the subject. She made a few mistakes on test questions that were bad.
I took Min Zhang for chem 111 and 112. I believe she has good intentions, however she simply doesn't know how to teach. She moves way to fast and just reads from the slides and underlines words rather than explain actual content. It feels like she doesn't really care about your grade, and will remind you the last day to drop. Avoid at all cost.
It is a little tough to understand the accent at first but it gets easier as the class goes on. Teaches from printed lecture slides that she annotates all over and then posts. She describes everything well and introduces you to a higher level of understanding. She is really good at answering emails quickly. Textbook not really needed.
Let me just start out by saying this, it doesn't matter at all who you take for gen chem. They all follow the same guided notes, and they all have to stay on pace with the syllabus. All exams are the same. Zhang is great bc she is always accessible outside of class, and is v helpful. She posts notes on BB and wants you to succeed. Very sweet prof!
Very hard to understand and didn't teach me anything.
This was the worst lab I have taken in my entire life. Project descriptions are so poorly written and the reports are even worse to write. He had little to no communication with the analytical professor so half of the labs were on content we had not covered yet in lecture. Such a headache, avoid if you don't want to be completely lost.
Professor Zhang knows the material like the back of her hand and always explains it very well. She also responds with help on practice problems very quickly and is happy to help.
DO NOT TAKE!!!! She is very particular with your grades and will ignore your emails if she does not feel like responding. There is no extra credit or ability to change your grades. You don't know your grade until the last week of classes and the tests are so short that only one question wrong can destroy your entire grade.
She explained everything thoroughly. She is always quick to respond if you have a question about anything. I would recommend her!
I love Dr. Zhang. She is pretty good at explaining the topics that you would cover in class. She responded to several of my emails with relative quickness and thoroughly answered any question that I had. I enjoyed the class and would take it again if I had the chance!
Everything in this class is controlled by the Chemistry Department. So, the teacher does not change grades, give extra credit, etc. This rating all comes down to how well the teacher taught the material. Dr. Zhang is very sweet and does everything in her power to make sure you know the content. Sends out reminders constantly & knows the content.
The lectures can be boring, but if you go to class and make sure you understand the homework, you will be fine. She is kind and incredibly responsive to questions. She made a class group chat and consistently responded to individual students' questions quickly. The practice exams are very similar to the real exams, so make sure you do them.
In the lab we didn't have any interactions with the professor since the TA ran the whole thing. He basically posted everything before classes started and then we never heard from him again. But, the material was organized well on Blackboard and he uploaded a lot of materials that were helpful with writing the lab reports. 6 labs, a report for each.
Professor Min wasn't a bad professor, but she doesn't give you time to do practice questions in class and moves through the slides very fast. She also only gives you 1 optional practice exam to do before each exam, so if you learn best through practice questions I wouldn't suggest taking her. But if you pick up concepts quickly then you'll be fine.
Hard to understand, such boring lectures, doesn't teach the material well and isn't good at answering questions or helping students. Would not take her again
I took Dr. Zhang for Chem 111 and 112. Her lectures are very clear and easy to follow. Homework and exams for these classes are standardized and the exams are weighted very heavily. There were pop quizzes in each class but she typically gave us the answers! She is also probably the most accessible professor outside of class that I have had at USC!
Professor Zhang is such a sweet professor and does a great job teaching the material! She takes notes with the students and tells them exactly what they need to know. There are online quizzes in class, mostly she gives you the answers. She also releases practice exams 2 weeks before the test and are very similar to the actual test.
Dr. Zhang can be hard to understand at times, but knows and teaches the material very well. She releases practice exams and gives homework and quizzes to provide as a buffer against exam grades.
She was hard to understand but I was able to catch on quickly. Her practice exams are great and resemble the actual exams. I was super scared to take her class but I ended up actually really liking it and I do recommend her.
Professor Zhang is super nice and very knowledgeable in what she is teaching. Lecture notes are always uploaded onto blackboard after a class or so. She's very efficient and you can tell that she wants her students to succeed. Light hw is given online, quizzes are in class, and exams are online but can be taken anywhere. I highly recommend her.
Dr. Zhang was one of my favorite professors this semester and I am taking her again for 112! Attend the lectures she uses iClicker and the quiz points are calculated into your grade. The lecture notes are available online, so print them and annotate the notes in class along with her.
Very straight-forward, so you know exactly what needs to be done in this class. Minimal homework, and the exams look exactly like problems done in lecture. I am taking her again for CHEM 112, but I would highly recommend only sticking with her if you like her style of teaching because it's easy to struggle if you don't.
She had a lot of resources online to help the students. She uploaded the class notes, both blank and with her individual notes, so even if you missed something/ didn't pay attention in class its easy to learn it again by yourself. The unlimited practice tests are SO helpful. If you put actual effort into studying it is hard to fail this class.
Professor Zhang is the nicest teacher ever. She genuinely cares about her students learning and wants everyone to make a good grade in her class. She provides lots of practice problems to help you prepare for the test. She is also the most accessible teacher I have had at USC and would highly reccommend her to anyone I know.
She is a pretty good chem professor. She is straight forward with what she expects and teaches the material super well. Chemistry is already pretty difficult but she makes it understandable and goes over a ton of practice problems.
A very difficult class, but Zhang does what she can to make the information digestible for students. Lecture heavy, but she makes all the notes online after the lecture. IClicker attendance is mandatory.
Dr. Zhang is a great professor, she really tries to help students understand the content and welcomes questions in class. Homework was not that bad. Utilize the practice exams she posts online. Put the work in and study and you'll be fine.
Zhang is a very nice person, and not a great professor. I would recommend taking someone else if possible. Her teaching style is just reading off the slides without any explanation. Basically a teach yourself course.
This class was easier then I expected, Zhang does a great job telling you everything clearly that will be on the exams. If you study like a week in advance you will be golden on the exams. The homework are simple and easy, and either buy the guided notes or look at them on blackboard as they are extremely helpful to do work on and follow the class.
Every chemistry teacher does the exact same thing because it's mandated by the university. Min is a super sweet lady and she tries her best to explain things well. She also gives unlimited generated practice tests, so if you memorize how to do the problems on those you can easily do well on tests!
She is very straight to the point and knows chemistry well. Some may find her hard because they choose not to pay attention or show up to class. But she is a very sweet lady and I would recommend her for the beginning chemistry classes.
Other people like Zhang, I didn't. Its personal preference, but the material & notes were flown through and the entire class I would be trying to keep up w/ what she was writing down without grasping material. Most of the knowledge I gained in chem was by self teaching. Other chem professors might be the same way, but Zhang wasn't my favorite.
Dr. Zhang was great at explaining the concepts and made it very clear how we were going to be graded. If you want an A just go to class, do the homework to get the easy points, and take lots of practice tests. The exams are exactly like the practice tests she provides.
Professor Zhang basically hands you a step-by-step sheet of how to get an A. Her lectures only include the info you need, the HW is just like the tests (not a lot of HW), there's a practice exam before every test that's just like the test, and if you go to class you'll get a 100 on every pop quiz guaranteed.
Professor Zhang is not a bad professor as far as teaching goes. Her lectures move very fast and you have to attend every one of her lectures. The biggest problem I had was she is not a very engaging speaker, making much of her class boring and is not helped by the fact that she only teaches morning lectures.
Chem is hard. Professor Min does an okay of making things understandable. You have to go to class, attendance is recorded and factored into your grade via Iclicker. A fair amount of homework. Sometimes the lectures go a little fast, and if you get behind you might get left behind. Lecture hall class (not her fault) so take that into account.
It's important to remember that this course is not individual to the professor. So, she is not the one making the powerpoints or the tests because everything is the same for all Chem 111 courses. That being said, she is amazing at delivering the content. The homework allows for so many opportunities to practice and is very helpful. Great Professor!
Prof. Zhang's lectures were quick-paced, but not difficult. Grading criteria are the same for all chem111 teachers. The practice exams are essentially the same as exams. If you show up and do the homework/practice tests, you should be fine. Zhang uses iClicker to record attendance and do quizzes in class. She tells you the answer for all quizzes.
i couldn't understand a single thing she said
I took Dr. Zhang for Chem111 and Chem112, and she is not as bad as what other reviewers have wrote. Both of the chemistry lectures had clear grading criteria and expectations. With all of the chemistry classes, you are provided with practice exams that help IMMENSELY. Any of the chemistry professors are good at teaching the content.
Dr. Zhang is a good professor and she tries her best to help you understand the subject. She usually has the slideshows printed and works through problems on the paper, which I thought was helpful. Occasionally she can be a little difficult to understand, but I would take her class again!
Goes over all the material needed and the homework is super helpful and an easy way to earn points. She is a bit fast paced, but every professor for this course will be because there is so much material. She always breaks things down in multiple ways so that everyone can understand. Her lectures are very helpful as well.
She is so easy to reach whenever you have a question and is very helpful. The class in my opinion was kind of difficult, but she always put her best effort into helping me.
Dr. Zhang was a great prof. She sometimes went a little fast, but she posts all of her lecture notes after class and was pretty easy to look at them while doing homework and figure out any difficult topics. She uses iclicker, but you can miss up to 4 classes. I would take her class again, as long as you study, you'll be fine.
Took her for 111 & 112. The material is difficult and it didn't help that Dr. Min goes through her lectures very quick. Going to the SI sessions helped me a ton. All powerpoints posted online. Homework due every week, but not difficult if you know the material. Practice exams are great. Not my favorite prof, but I'd def take her over some others.
I took her for CHEM 111 & 112, and even though she went through the material quickly at times I thought that she explained everything we needed to know very well. As long as you do the practice exams a couple times before each exam you will do very well in this course.
If you take this class you really need to spend a lot of time studying outside of class. I really recommend going as much as possible and taking good notes. She does go over a few examples in class, but there are some crucial things that are left out sometimes. The tests are out of 20 questions, making it easy to get a bad grade.
There is a lot of stuff to know for exams, but there are practice exams with questions just like the real ones. She explains things very well, is very approachable and accessible, and helpful with questions. I was worried since I took Luscomb for 111 but Dr. Zhang is very good at what she does. There are reference sheets for exams too!
Professor Zhang is not a poor professor and is very enthusiastic. However, if you have trouble understanding heavy accents, I would advise you check to see if you can find another professor. If I didn't have a prior background in chemistry, I would be doing a lot of extra studying outside of class because I cannot understand what she is saying.
Zhang is phenomenal! I'm taking organic chem 1 right now and she prepared me so well for the course! Lectures are fast paced, BUT she provides the most helpful examples with all formats of questions that you will see on hw or exams! Highly recommended the 3x a week 50 minute lectures. Do the practice exams, hw, attend lectures and it's an easy A!
Dr. Zhang is an amazing teacher who is passionate about teaching. She brings an uplifting attitude to her class. Her teaching style and pace were perfect. She made sure to go into detail about each problem, to ensure we understood. She made the content easy and digestible for the average student. However, she does have limited office hours.
She does go a little fast through the slides, but she will cover everything you need to know for the homework and exams. She provided the blank slides at the being of the term, and the class notes after every class. If you pay attention and do the practice exams a few times before the real test, you shouldn't have a problem getting a good grade.
She's a decent teacher but can be hard to understand and speeds through chapters. She goes over practice problems during lectures that are perfect practice for tests. There are no quizzes, but you must attend class because attendance is mandatory (for a grade).
I loved professor Zhang so much! I registered for her class next semester too. There's homework due weekly, but it helps with the exams so much and you get like 7 attempts. Attendance is mandatory, but Professor Zhang is very understanding. If you reach out to her, she'll totally listen and even will help change your exam time or day if needed!
Excellent professor and very approachable! Pay attention in class—it's the best way to do well! There is a lot of homework, but it is very straightforward and not hard! Do the practice exams—they are the best way to prepare for the tests. Very helpful on 1-1 instruction, if you have a question, she is very helpful!
Very good professor. You can tell she loves what she does, but does move quick at times. All slides are posted so it's easy to go back. Practice exams are the best thing because the actual exams are almost exactly the same.
Prof. Zhang's CHEM112 class is challenging but rewarding. She explains concepts clearly and the practice exams are super helpful. unstuck study was a game-changer for me - it made prepping for tests a breeze. Overall, a great professor to take for this course.
Friendly Professor but they tend to rush through the content, so it's a bit hard to keep up.
Idk why everyone's trashing this teacher but she's chill and is the only chem teacher to post annotated notes and test review study guides. All the low ratings are mad cause they bad.
She is very kind and provides the materials needed for success. Learning in this class requires studying, the homework provided is helpful for learning the concepts, and the practice exams are very helpful for preparing for the tests. The tests do not have "trick questions" and she makes the concepts clear in her lectures with thorough examples.
I had luscomb for 111 and i prefer her teaching - in my opinion it is much easier to understand. SI sessions helped me a ton in zhang's class. 100% recommend taking the 50 min 3x a week class. attendance is taken on iclicker.
Professor Zhang is smart and funny. She is very passionate about chemistry and instills this in her students. The only downside is she has a strong accent and is soft-spoken, but once you adjust to her speaking patterns it's an enjoyable class. Like other chem classes blackboard is your best friend and with a little effort you can easily get an A.
Professor Zhang is a really sweet lady, but she has a strong accent and moves fast which can make the class difficult. She does post her notes after each class which is helpful. I had to mostly teach myself the information through the homework assignments and practice exams, but overall the class is very manageable. Easy A if you put in the work.
Professor Zhang is a very nice person. She is always open to question after class and during office hours. However, she is EXTREMELY fast pace in how she teaches. She flies through slides and new material and sometimes she is hard to understand.
Really liked Dr. Zhang. She does not create the exams and cannot teach us exactly what's on the exams. The first exam is the hardest. Go to SI sessions, study all recitation questions, practice tons of problems, and don't get behind. If you can keep up with lectures, you understand. When I couldn't keep up, I knew I didn't understand the content.
Amazing prof!! Chem is naturally a harder subject but she does her best to clarify challenging topics. She's super willing to help. She provides a sheet of whats on the test, and doesn't try to trick you. Highly recommend!!
Super well organized and easy to follow class. She's a great lecturer but you do have to put in work on your own to learn the material. She's super flexible if you are sick or miss class and willing to work with students before or after class or other times. Really nice and wants you to succeed!
realistically not a bad teacher. she does move very fast in lectures and doesn't really leave any time other than review in class on topics for exams, though you are given plenty of material which will properly help you prepare for the exams. Only real con is showing up at 8:30 every day due to her iclicker req. attendance is HUGE in this class.
She goes hella fast in lectures but the exams are super easy and the homework is pretty much 1 to 1 whats on the exam so do the homework and listen sometimes and you'll be fine
very dependent on your section's TA, but there are 6 labs (each with pre-lab worksheets and labs reports due 2 wks after lab) with 25 points of extra credit. lab reports are tedious but grading structure is clear, and blackboard is very well organized. most labs do not take the full 3 hrs
She does move fast but posts all her lecture notes. People say she is hard to understand but I didn't think so. She is one of the kindest professors I have ever had.
