She knows what's she's talking about, but can be a little difficult to understand due to her accent. She's a very good teacher all in all. There are 3 exams and 10 labs.
does not speak well or convey written idea with accuracy. does not spell common words, necessary for the course, properly. hard to understand her lectures. class was pretty good and about average in easiness.
Very nice and really enjoys chemistry. Is very willing to explain things one on one outside of class. She really wants her students to love chemistry.
Mina is an extremely nice and dedicated instructor. It can be hard to understand her lectures sometimes but she is always willing to provide extra help.
An amazing, wonderful teacher. She is hard to understand at first, but I worshipped her by the end of the quarter. She wants everyone to do well and will do anything she can to make sure you understand. I really enjoyed her class and highly recommend her!
She is the amazing and wanderful teacher. she teach very clear and she wants her student learn very will
she's the best, most wonderful, amazing teacher in the world. She knows exactly what she's talking about, she has so much knowledge, and really cares about her students. Loved her.
lecture is very brief...exams are very easy...exam can be taken more than once...
Was more interested in getting out of the class early than teaching. Lectured/tested on subjects covered in previous chem classes. Would actually push students outside of lab rather then make sure they understood the material. If you want an easy A, then go for it. If you want to learn, go someplace else
She is the best instructor I have ever seen in my whole life. If you really want to learn chemistry take her class.
She is a very easy teacher at the beginnign of the quarter. Easy tests and labs. However, she makes the final test as hard as she could. You have to learn your stuff by yourself. So if you have other hard classes and want to take easy at the beginning, take her, but watch out at the end. Good luck
She is best instructor in BCC. She is excellent teacher.
Professor is very interested in students learning Organic subject and teaches subject matter clearly and in uses an interesting format. Doesn't plow through subject matter (approx 1 Chapter per week), so is great for those of us who haven't taken this 2 or 3 times before. She knows how to make students learn and retain subject for future use.
She's very helpful and friendly. Her tests are based on lectures in class. Easy to understand concepts.
NONONONO! Run away. This class was horrible. It was like being tortured. Every day you walk into lecture, she says and writes, "Okay, this ees chim wan-sees-tee, with the zumdahl, chapter [15-20]" Lectures were agony, labs were dull and unclear. Good luck asking her a question and understanding the answer. Just...please don't do it.
I had chem.140,150,160 and 231 with this instructor, she made me to love chemistry, now I want to choose chemistry as a major. I am taking 232 with her in next quarter. All my friends love her class.
Mina is a good prof. She's friendly, helpful, reasonable, fair, etc. Exams are fair and she gives plenty of time. You will have to spend time outside of class to learn the info cause she doesn't give homework. She's not easy as some have claimed. Rather, she doesn't bog students down with a bunch of work like other professors. She's practical.
I took 150 with her and taking 231 with her again. I really liked her teaching style, which is very visual. She writes a lot on the board and explains in a way that makes you understand and never forget. He accent is difficult to understand for the first few days, but you just get used to it. Don't talk during lectures or she will get mad. :)
She is a great teacher. She does a lot of writing on the board and goes over problems again if you don't understand it.
Excellent professor! always encourage students to learn the subject and she will never make you feel dump. Very understandable and great teacher.
She is a good instructor! She makes an organic chemistry very easy to understand.
she is the worst inorganic teacher.she makes it sound like her class is easy but really it isn't and she teaches out of order.
I took the entire Ochem series with her and got straight A's. Some effort is needed to understand the material, but she gives out notes and recommend another great textbook as reference which is very useful. If you pay attention and don't skip class/lab, you cannot do bad.
She is very easy to understand.
she is the worst chemirsty teacher, and her grading system is unfair.
please just ask Mrs. Heydari about her grading system and then you will find out how horrible of a teacher she is. Her cover up story is just to do great on the lab final.
Absolutely best chemistry teacher I have ever seen in my life. I took 160, 231, 232 and 243 with this instructor, she has very unique teaching style, she really changed my life, now I am applying for dental school.
I took organic chem with her and i must stay she is always eager to help you.She has open book tests, but that doesn't help much. She's a bit random in her explaining(as well as with what she gives you for the exams)but with good effort aplied you can get out with an A.
she is the best teacher ever . she is so helpful . and you just need to do some questions for the exam and listen to everything that she says . just take with her !
Open book, open notes. It is the easiest class i had ever take. If you want to get an A, take her class. If you really want to learn and remember things, choose others'.
Class was pretty straightforward.Get clarification on tests for whether or not they are open book. One time it might be, the next it isn't.She doesn't like to explain basics during class so don't bother asking-go after class.accent is difficult and she makes sure every day that it is chem 101 -kind of annoying.she is nice though.
Excellent instructor... explained everything on a level that students could understand. If you take notes, read the material to clarify concepts, and ask questions before the exams, you should do fine.
Mina has a PhD and knows the material inside out. I enjoyed her class but she is a little undemanding, but for grades that is nice. Her accent is unusual, but you get used to it. Tests are open note & book. She has a friendly sense of humor that makes her approachable.
She is one the most worst chemistry teacher at BCC. I don't know how people have rated this teacher. Anybody who had her old exams from perivious quarter got great grades and anyone like me who tried to study hard end up with a really bad grade. She is not clear on what comes on the exam. the handout she gives you worth nothing.
She gives you 3 hard exams and 1 hard final lab. That is it and no more extra points. She gives you 1 hour and half to finish each exams. The examples used in class only works in the class, but not in her exams. If you just wana pass the class with a C-take it with her but if you wana end up with an A..... The material in exam is confusing and frus
I liked her. I thought she was challenging, but I felt I learned a lot from her. She's a very nice lady. Her exams were difficult. I did lots of problems from the textbook. I did pretty well on exams. She does lots of examples on the board, which helps a lot when doing problems. I highly recommend her if you want to learn chemistry.
When I asked Mina questions, she did not answer completely and she didn't even seem to want to answer. She picks favorites and if you're not one of them, tough luck. I wish that I had dropped her and taken another professor during the add/drop period.
Terrible teacher. Unhelpful and lacks clarity in answering questions. The questions she asks the class is absurd and doesn't even relate to the topic. Backward teaching technique. Labs are not consistent at all. Take her if you want A, but be prepared to be stressed out everyday.
Very unclear. Explantions are terrible she answers a question with a question. "What do you think?" Poor logic and very random way to teach. Explanations from chem classes not takes. labs are terrible, changes everything and refuses to be helpful. If you want to be stressed out and on edge all the time take this class if not go elsewhere
Easy A from Mina! You are not a Mina's Student for sure.I had chem161 with her,now I have chem.162 and already I registered in chem.163 for the next quarter with her. I love her teaching style and chapter handouts.
The formulas that she gives you are in incorrect units and it will mess up your calculations. Although this is an easy class, go with someone else like Khakimova. This class is so stressful, especially on lab days.
So doesn't follow the book much, mainly for questions. the biggest problem I had with her was grading tests, she wants to you to show work but she grades in an "all or nothing" manner. you could have used the correct steps but you might have missed a decimal place somewhere, say goodbye to 4 points because of that.
You need to attend class for sure because she doesn't teach from the book. I found this class to be quite easy, and enjoyed her sense of humor. I thought she explained things well (although she didn't seem to like to answer questions much), and I found her grading to be fair.
First off, I've met most of the lazy, slacker, HIGH SCHOOL students who took her to get an EASY A, they thought that by acing her class it made them look SO SMART, and when they didn't they chewed her ass out and gave her bad reviews on here. SHE'S AMAZING, her accent rocks, NOT hard to understand, and if you study you'll get an A. Her A is a 90%
I think this class was previously the 101 class. She does have an interesting accent, but you get used to it! Shes very nice and makes jokes with us. She teaches us what we need to know but does not over do the information in class. Homework was SO easy and so far tests have been open book. Shes also very fair about turning in homework if late
Just do the assigned homework, and you will easily get a good grade. Her accent is hilarious, and the tests are open book and open notes. "watersch"
Mina has a great sense of humor and knows how to engage the class. if you pay attention in lecture you won't need to use the book much. her homework assignments are quick but really help your confidence with the material. she really wants her students to be excited about chemistry.
Unless you have ESP look elsewhere if you want to learn anything. I didn't find this class to be hard but I have previously taken chemistry. She is incomprehensible, rude, moody, and unhelpful. Marked things wrong, that were actually right, and when confronted her about it, she became defensive and refused to correct. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
nice teacher, but kinda hard to follow. Jumps around alot! Kinda approaches everything easy going then you come to the first test and it's a rude awakening. Great handouts though. if you study those really well and read the book you should do fine.
Good sense of humor, a little hard to understand. Do not talk in her lectures, she doesn't like that. Chapter 9 and 10 are the most important to her, so read the material. Be aware that she does not always give you the full class time to complete the tests. She puts trick questions in the tests.
Her teaching method is ineffective & frustrating- she lectures by asking questions instead of just teaching the material. No set office hours- only available right before class. Easy examples in class, difficult HW problems, & hard exams with stuff she never even lectured on, as if someone else made them. Nice & funny, but a poor instructor to me.
She lectures for a short period of time and then you answer questions from the book. H/W is helpful but then test questions are totally different. All tests are open note but she makes sure to ask questions that aren't on your notes and she didn't go over. Beware of the final it's brutal! Lets you out early and labs are a joke.
This professor,is a very talented and outstanding teacher! She is extremly helpful to all of her students and her clarity is crystal clear! She also makes her class so easy that i got an A+ in her class! My advice is if you want to take chemistry go with Mina!
Her accent takes a day or two to get used to but it forces her to repeat herself a lot which is very useful in Ochem. If you dont understanding something she will no give up until you do. Her exams and hw are fairly difficult but with the open book and open note exams, you can figure out just about any problem. Best chem teacher I have had.
NEVER take this teacher. She can't teach at all, and has favorites in class. Her examples in class are way different than whats in the hw and tests. Plus she can be very rude and unhelpful if you ask her a simple question. Please take Goldstom or Mitchell if you want a good teacher.
Best organic chemistry instructor ever! Not easy homework and exams but I really learned organic chemistry for the first time and I feel I am ready to take MCAT.
Ugh. Not the worst, but right at the bottom. Says exams are open book & notes, but will change her mind the day of the test. She was very rude & unhelpful some days, then just disappears during the labs. She doesn't write her own HW or exams, so you'll need to teach yourself a lot of material she never lectured on, but somehow expects you to know.
I love her! she is an amazing professor. She really prepares you and you get the grade you deserve. Also, tests are open note and sometimes open book. Lab is really easy as well. She really prepared me for the MCAT.
She is the worst chemistry teacher I ever had in my life. She is extremely disorganized with her lectures and labs. Her exams were hard although it was open book and notes.
Do not take this teacher if you want to learn chemistry. Her class is wastage of time and money. She does not care about her students and she will take 30 minutes break during class time to print out homework for students ......VERY WEIRD
Heydari was kind and interesting, though not organized. I feel I learned the most important material well, but I also feel that she neglected to emphasize some important topics. Her homework and tests were fair, but the amount of time it took her to return our work to us was frustrating. Overall, I would label her as flaky but cool.
Her voice makes me sleep, not because of her accent but her tone!!! Very boring class.. while her lecturing, I self study by reading the text.. Good thing that 163 is very easy.
Mina is the best! Very encouraging sees the best in all her students. Considers effort and attendance of student. Class is challenging not easy at all. Tests are long and makes you think hard. But otherwise you will leave her class knowing a lot
She is really good at teaching chemistry!! Some people have an issue with her accent but if you don't mind that then she is great just make sure you don't miss her class or you can fall behind. People that don't do well on the exams don't go to her classes. I've never actually learned and retained information in any other class as well as this one.
Heydari is AWESOME. Attend her lectures, pay attention, take good notes, and you will NOT have surprises come exam time. Her labs are very informative. Great professor!
I had her for 261&262. If you're scared of O Chem from hearing horror stories, take her! She's not the most thorough of professors and you won't want to switch professors midway through the series, but she's funny and relaxed. No lab reports and plenty of extra credit. Can be unclear sometimes, but emphasizes the most important concepts. Love her!
She is very helpful and clear. I learned a lot from her lectures and labs. I was very motivated to learn more. I did my homeworks well and i did very good on my tests.
If you want to learn chemistry STAY AWAY. I have discovered that I love chemistry but can't stand the teacher - she is disorganized, contradicts the text (& herself at times). Labs are chaos. You can't trust her to give you accurate information. Do yourself a favor and take this class with another instructor!
She is the best science teacher that I have ever had. I have a B.S degree from UW and I came back to school to take some science courses. Homeworks are excellent and make you ready for the exams.Exams are open book. She makes chemistry easy to understand. I recommend her class for anybody who wants to learn chemistry.
Open note/book tests, lots of useful notes, extra credit opportunities. But SUPER DISORGANIZED. Not very good with answering questions, but in Chem 121 everything is in the book anyway. Take her if you want an EASY Chem121 class!! Do it!!
She was rude and extremely confusing. I wish I had gone with a different teacher. She has a heavy accent.
The class seems FAR easier than the CHEM100 class or HS Chem. Dr. Heydari has an accent, but is easy to understand. She does not use the text at all and provides notes and homework via the class website. If you don't get an A, it's because you didn't to the labs and prelabs, as the tests are open notes. Not sure how much I actually learned though.
She seemed very disorganized, like giving out and set a due date before she actually covered the topic in the lecture.
Best advice I can give is to try your best and STUDY the chapters. If you try your best she will reward you with the corresponding grade. She is not the clearest teacher communication wise, but all the material you need to know if on her website and in her lectures. That being said, while reading the book is not required, it is strongly reccomen
Her class is well organized. She provides an extraordinary amount of supplemental material. Homework is useful and reflective of material on exams. Only fault is when you ask a question you sometimes get a very spacey/unrelated answer. She's an awesome teacher and an awesome chemist though. Learned a lot from her.
friendly in class, but Rude in Labs and very unclear. Does not communicate well.
Awesome teacher! Easy A! Open book/notes tests! Makes chemistry easy to understand! Take the class and you won't regret!
Ms. Heydari was friendly, but didn't do a good job teaching the material. Her labs were the worst. She usually showed up to them unprepared and confused. She often changed the lab material halfway through, and got impatient when asked for clarifications. The "open book" tests were WAY too easy and setup students for hard times later.
If you are new to chemistry or have no chemistry background do not take her chem 140 class even though it is suppose to be "intro to chemistry," Heydari knows her chemistry but she should work in research or a lab instead of teaching because she honestly have no passion in teaching or helping students fix their errors as she does surfing facebook.
I have taken Mina for chem 121 and chem 131 purely because she is incredibly intelligent and great at teaching. Her tests are open note and book and she really wants you to learn chemistry. Loved her, and highly recommend.
Great Teacher!!! I took her for both 121 and 131. very helpful and extremely nice. Tests are opened bokk. Easy class and easy A :)
Heydari is incredibly knowledgeable, do not get me wrong, however she is not very good at explaining the curriculum. She is not very patient at all with questions, ESPECIALLY in lab. It is really easy to get a 95-100% on all labs, however she does not like to clarify. Labs=100 points each. She does not post grades at all throughout the quarter.
Clear fun teacher! if you listen and are engaged in lectures and you do the in class problems you will not need to read the book much. I only use the book for extra practice problems and to review the main subjects. Mina is great!
I really enjoyed her class. Professor Heydari was very knowledgeable and engaged and made learning chemistry fun. Gives lots of opportunities to get a good grade if you do the work.
There were 3 exams and a final. I took this during the summer therefore if you miss a lab then your grade will really take a hit. I had a hard time understanding what she was saying but she's helpful and passionate about the subject. If I had the choice between Dr. Smits and Mina, I would take Mina in a heart beat.
She is by far the best chemistry teacher I've had. She explains clearly and provides us with efficient ways of learning chemistry. No doubt this is not an easy subject, however for tests it's all open book, plus attendance earns you extra points on exams.
three tests are all OPEN BOOK AND NOTES!!! you will have online homework pretty a lot but not hard. A lab final test as well, but she grades it very easily. easy class, if you learn chemistry before, go for it and get an easy A. If you didn't, ask questions.
Open booknotes exam. I would still recommend going over it before walking into the exam. Agreed, shes not very nice in lab but she grades easy! You do in class homework and those points go towards your exam. You also have online homework, but it isn't hard at all. Its semi challenging but as long as you show her you care, your grade reflects it!
Took her over the summer. She is a nice but in labs she does not have a lot of patience. Gives you a lot of opportunities to get a good grade. Show up to class and do the in class homework because those points go towards your exam. There is online homework but it is easy. Tests are open notes and book. Still suggest studying before the exam.
I loved Mina. She made me laugh every lecture. The things she says are amazing. English is her second language, and she needed help from the class with the simplest words. We taught her how to say "goggles" in English for example. She was very qualified for her work and was able to explain chemistry effectively. Take her class.
Mina Heydari demonstrates her dedication to cultivating understanding in her students by taking the time to work with them individually. Homework is done in class, during which time she is readily accessible and willing to explain concepts in detail without going overhead. She expects a high level of punctuality and organization.
Her grading scale is easier than most. She does a lot of her assignments and lab stuff in class, and doesn't give much homework at all. She has 3 multiple choice tests + a lab test. OPEN BOOK. She explains really well, but because of a language barrier, it's sometimes hard to understand her. Coming to class gives you extra credit in the tests
Mina was an outstanding professor for Chem. If you can, take her. I really liked her teaching methods, as they were extremely effective. The class was fun, and a low stress environment. Her exams were fair, covering the topics from homework. Exams ARE open book. If you have her, don't miss class as your attendance points add up.
I can not believe people think she is an "outstanding professor". She is horrible, rude, condescending. Never listens, never gives back assignment, won't give back exams. Avoid her at all cost, exams are opposite of what she teaches In class. She does not care to help outside of class. I made a huge mistake taking her class.
Mina was an amazing lecturer, she teaches in a very basic and straight way which makes it really easy to understand. The only frustrating part was how if a student asks a question 97% of the time her answers are " close enough " "that's good enough" and isn't clear with her answers. 3 open book exams but a bit difficult, HW every other week.
Mina is a clear, & fair grader. 163 was my fave of the Gen Chem sequence. Expect to read, study and attend drop in tutor sessions. If you slack, you will brain dump the material and not be prepared for the MCATS. Had her in the evening. I think the time of day was a hindrance. Other than that, take her if you can.
Mina knows chemistry inside out, and she truly cares about students. People who complain about her might not get that she's pretty "old school" in her teaching methods (she was trained abroad but has been at BC for around 15 years) but she absolutely knows her stuff. If you have questions, she will sit with you until you understand the answer. A+.
Mina is hard to understand, her lectures aren't very informative, she admits to deleting emails from students because the students should just know things. She doesn't answer questions at all, she just expects you to know the material without her teaching it. She doesn't put up grades until the last week of the quarter. Online homework, three exams
I found that Professor Heydari was very nice, very intelligent, she really knew her stuff and was a valuable resource if you went into the study center or asked her one on one. But I really did not enjoy her lectures. I felt like neither they nor her lab instructions were helpful. CHEM161 turned out to just be a repeat of my high school chem class.
Professor Heydari is a really nice teacher, when she explains something the first time, it will be difficult for you to understand it, but when she goes over it again you feel better about the lecture. There are 3 exams, and 3 big HW's with 50 questions. She gives lots of pages to practice on, but she only checks 1-2 pages out of 10. Take notes!
I took this class without the use of a textbook. Her class in general is really easy and she barely checks your homework, oftentimes just giving you the full points for it. However, she can be a bit over-the-top with lab results, but even then she still gives you a lot of points for trying. Her lectures are sometimes hard to understand. She's okay
She is absolutely the best. she cares SO much about her students and helps them to improve their grades. take a class with her if you can, she is amazing.
Just make sure you show up to labs and do them correctly, she can be picky on the results but she still gives a lot of credit even if you do things wrong. Her accent can be a little hard to understand. Don't miss out on the three online homework assignments like how I did. All in all, easy class.
She is the best Chem 140 teacher I have ever had! She explains things so clearly and concisely that I finally began to learn Chemistry after years of thinking it was too hard! Her lectures and labs are very helpful when I was taking her tests, and she gives lots of extra credit! She is very funny, and truly ares about how her students do in class!
Mina is very nice, and is one of the best chemistry professors I ever had! I learned so much that I couldn't understand before about chemistry, and the exams she gave are really similar to the practice tests! As long as you show up to the labs and put in effort you will get a 100%, and she offers a lot of extra credit to boost up your grade!
Mina is amazing I absolutely love her. I did feel lost those, however, During my first quarter with her. But her teaching style is very straight forward and the knowledge really sticks with me. Took her for chem 162 also, wish I can take chem 163 with her too
Tough, rude at times, Tests were multiple choice. Tough class had to learn a lot on my own.
Mina is so nice, respectful, and helps students to the best of her ability! There are 3 exams and 1 HW assignment per chapter. The exams are similar to the HW and are fine! Her lectures are amazing and very clear! Be prepared for lab but as long as you read the lab instructions and do the work you will get full credit! Will take 261 again with her!
She is very caring. Exam is similar to the homework.
Pretty easy class. The tests were strait forward and she is very lenient. Although She is a bit unorganized and she doesnt respond to emails quickly. 3 tests, pre lab quizzes and homework per chapter.
I took the accelerated course of Chem162 last summer and had a very good experience! Professor Heydari is a very good explainer and truly cares about students learning! I had this course before but took it again for a better grade, and I ended up with the grade I wanted. The tests are really similar to the homework and there is extra credit!
Mina is the best chemistry professor I have ever had! She explains concepts very clearly, and really cares about making sure that students do well in the class. There are 2 midterms, and 1 final (all multiple choice) which she prepares you well for, and the labs are easy-going and stress-free. There are a lot of extra credit opportunities as well!
I have had 2 quarters of organic with Dr. Heydari so far and am so glad I chose her. I did not know what a great science teacher was like until I ended up in her class. I would highly recommend listening to her lecture because she tends to make complex things seem more simple. She is pleasant and has answered all my questions in detail.
17 days of summer quarter. To say the least, this was a challenging course. Professor Mina did her best to present the material in every chapter, and as fast as possible. We finished a chapter in about 2-3 days. Her exams are challenging too, she curved the exams for us. I found out when we were finally handed out our exams in the last 2 days.
There is no textbook and she posts powerpoints online but half of them are blank/don't relate to what we need to know for the class so basically no resources. There were questions on the exam that she specifically said we did not need to know. Powerpoints are not her own, tests are not her own. She don't even know whats on her own test. Stay away!
Went to office hours and she was unwilling to help. She doesn't care. Unclear grading criteria. Unnecessarily rude. Will not answer questions. Tells you "you should already know this guys". Zero patience for those asking questions. Throws attitude when in a bad mood. Not a hard class but wanna feel frustrated the whole quarter? Take Mina's class.
Read the power points and take notes before coming to class because she lectures really fast. Make sure you study everything because sometimes she tells us what is going to be on the test and sometimes its not. Be ready for labs and highlight because she can be mean if do something wrong. One good thing is that there is a 30 point extra credit
I love Mina! Chem 110 was literally the easiest online class I have ever taken. You could literally complete the whole weeks' assignments in a couple of hours. The labs were easy to understand and do and they apply to daily life. There is a research paper in this class but it's super casual and she provides well-explained guidelines. Great class!
Fair grader and clear on expectations. It's clear she knows what she's talking about but maybe expects a little too much from her students. I wouldn't say this class is your main worry, do your work and you'll get a decent grade. I just didn't like her personality and came off rude, didn't feel comfortable in her class. I wouldn't take her again.
if you want to do well, read textbook. She doesn't have due dates for homework which lets you actually learn and not rush
I don't recommend taking thiss online class. She has slides from the textbook uploaded to Canvas, but doesn't use them for her lectures and instead shares OneNote, writes problems, and makes students solve them on her own rather than explaining. For those who are just beginning to learn Chemistry, it will be difficult to understand these concepts.
Mina uses OneNote for all of her lectures but she doesn't upload it to canvas. The class was fine but I don't think I would take her again.
Professor Heydari is very nice and she is not too strict with grading. She even allowed 3 attempts for each quiz and homework which was really helpful. However, she can get very confusing, if you ask her a question don't expect a straightforward answer. Rather expect an answer to a question you didn't ask.
Heydari was hard to follow during her lectures because of how unorganized she is. Her modules are all over the place and I often had to ask where to get the days assignment. Her exams are hard and worth basically your entire grade. If you are not good at science, don't take Heydari's class because you will be incredibly lost.
I had chem 162 with Mina and I really enjoyed the class on zoom. All materials were posted on canvas , Iectures were clear and straightforward. Exams were similar to homeworks. She is very caring instructor. I would take her again. I can say she makes chemistry very easy to understand.
Mina is an amazing teacher who truly cares about her students. She is kind, funny, and very positive! Mina is always available to answer any questions students have, and does so in great detail. There are 3 exams total that are very similar to the homework questions. There is also lots of extra credit given. Her class really made me love chemistry!
Professor Heydari made online school in a pandemic a breeze. She had classes three days a week to go over lectures or to answer students questions, but they were not mandatory if you had schedule conflicts. She makes sure to respond fast with questions. There is discussion work so you can view classmates work if you are challenged by the assignment
The class itself was fine and for the most part it was easy to get a good grade, but the professor was horrible. Doesn't care whatsoever about her students. Has an attitude. Does not reply to emails until two days later and when she does she is very quick and impolite. Don't care if the class is an easy A, don't wanna take another class from her.
Prof. Heydari did an amazing job translating what would normally be an in-person chemistry lab into a remote class. She uses Canvas really well, her classes make the material easy to understand. She gives multiple chances to do the homework - emphasis is on learning the material not being perfect the first time. Excellent teacher!
Caring Prof who wants you to succeed. Attend lectures, take notes, ask questions, do the work. If you understand the info you will do well in the class. Attend class so you can ask questions. Straightforward and clear. Excellent summary of chapter materials to use on tests.
I have Mina for Chem 162 and she is amazing! Attendance is not required and all the lecture recordings are posted on canvas. Her canvas is very organized, and the lectures are straightforward! Just make sure to submit your assignments, however Mina is flexible on due dates! Mina is a very caring instructor and I would highly recommend her class!
A very nice and caring professor. She gives amazing feedback and is always ready to help and explain confusing concepts. All the lectures were recorded and were available to listen to in case you missed one. I was never given any penalties for late work and there was plenty of extra credit for each test. I would take a class with her again.
Mrs. Heydari's online class was very unorganized. Her meetings were hard to follow, as she didn't use other materials she provided but explained everything in her own way, often randomly. She didn't provide any expectations or guidance on the materials and graded work. Do NOT recommend it to people who struggle with Chemistry.
Prof. Heydari is really the kind of teacher I love to have. She teaches in a way so easy to understand that you wish all teachers were like her. She as well gives a lot of class activities which make it so much easier to learn the class materials. I know I learn by doing, so her way of teaching is just great!
Great teaching ways. She starts every class by reviewing the concepts discussed in previous classes, so any concept you didn't fully understand before, you will have the chance to understand later. Also, she never assumes that you know stuff, she always explains every concept she talks about. She gives class activities to practice what you learned.
Bellevue College should require all his teachers to teach in the way Mina does. She is one of the best teachers I've had so far.
Her modules were very organized. She had class activities after class that went over the things that we learned and she would stay and help answer any questions you had.
Mina is really a great teacher who makes all concepts feel easy. It is funny how a great teacher like her doesn't require attendance and other teachers that are really bad make attendance mandatory. She makes her courses feel stress free and fills them with different learning opportunities. Highly recommended.
She should be teaching teachers how to teach. In her class I've had the chance to relax and enjoy learning. She explains all concepts in a way that is easy to understand. I didn't suffer from the stress of not understanding during class and then having to go to youtube to find other teachers to learn the concepts from.
Great professor. I took the class just to get done with the credit, so I can focus on my other classes. Really nice and caring. Gives lots of extra credit and explains content well. I'd take her again.
This class was very easy, and the teacher made it more accessible and was always easy to contact and eager to help her students. The course is very dependent on labs, very easy A, would recommend and take again if I had to for credit.
Mina is the best teacher i found in Bellevue College so far. Her teaching method is great, every concept she explains makes it look easier. I literally understand everything when she explains it. I wish all teachers were like her.
Mina is a very good teacher. I took her for chem 110 online and her modules were always organized. The work for this class was pretty easy and she had no late work policy so you can turn it in whatever you can.
When I hear Mina's voice, my heart relaxes because I know I am going to be truly learning the subjects of the class, without the regular anxiety that bad teachers give. I wish I could clone her and have her teaching all my classes. Seriously, she should write a book on how to teach, and it should be mandatory for all teachers to use her method.
only posts materials for the upcoming chapterso it is clear not overwhelming. chapter summary from 2-6 pages that explains concepts as well as how to go through and work on problems. weekly activities (lectured on, guided, instructor there to answer any questions day of Zoom) helps alot with test Tests are online in class Highly recommended
She is by far the easiest teacher I've ever had in the science department. You can sleep through her class and pull an A. Late is on time, and watching her recordings more than fulfills her expectations. I took her online Spring '22: three tests worth 100 pts, prelabs/labs/discussion posts/masteringchem worth between 2-10 pts. Healthy environment
She is very chill and the class is really at your own pace. Deadlines are very flexible, late work policy is very nice because she let's you turn in things as late as you want, as long as you don't do it on purpose.
Prof. Heydari is by far the best professor I've had. Always willing to help, very communicative, and understanding of circumstances you may have outside of the class. The best online course I've had the pleasure of participating in.
Mina Heydari was very kind and caring. I took her 3 week Chem 162 course, and she was amazing! We went fast, so there were some holes, but I could easily figure it out with online resources and by asking her questions. Don't be afraid to ask questions! She is very helpful. Overall great experience. 3 exam, HWs, simple labs. Good practice exams.
She truly cares for her students and gave us plenty of opportunities to improve our grades on quizzes. She is very considerate of everyone's time; 2/3 exams were taken online and 1/3 were taken in person. If you participate in the weekly discussions and lectures, you will succeed. The labs were straightforward and simple to follow.
Mina Heydari is one of the best professors I've had. Her classes are engaging and stress-free, with plenty of learning opportunities. Unstuck AI and the recorded lectures were a big help for study prep. Highly recommended!
Kind professor who makes it very easy to get an A. There's short lectures that she does on Zoom and records which goes over main concepts (not much structure). Assignments are mostly practice problems posted on discussion boards. Labs are simple and easy to complete. Lots of extra credit and no tricky exams.
Amazing lecture!
Very kind and easy to understand!
Mina's class is very easy, and quick to do! I struggle with mostly any science class but by far she has the most clear instructions, easy workload, and easy labs. Her class is online which made it more helpful for me. She offers extra credit too which is also a bonus. Theres is discussion post for work, but it's easy to navigate and do.
CHEM&121 with Prof. Heydari was alright. We only had class/lab once a week so most of the learning was self-taught for me. She does post lectures which are good. She doesn't have office hours unless you ask. However, lots of extra credit (20 pts total). Work load was easy and you can use notes on exams (easy A).
Dr. Heydari's class is well-organized and easy to follow. Her PPT slides align with the textbook, and she promptly uploads recorded lectures. She explains concepts clearly, making chemistry—something I've always disliked—fun! She's kind, approachable, and sets clear expectations, making learning much easier. I really enjoyed learning in her class.
Professor Heydari was super sweet and very clear in her expectations. I took her with a hybrid course, and lecture attendance wasn't mandatory, but lab was. She was VERY strict about coming on time for labs, but otherwise very lenient. Exams were easy- she gave us a chapter summary and a whole page for notes to use. 100% taking her again.
Took her for this summer quarter - nothing but respect. 6 modules squished into 17 days, two labs a week and a generous allowance of an A4 paper for exam notes. She's knowledgeable, professional, and whose only expectations are to arrive on time and get your concepts down well. I had a blast. She has the right teaching methods down.
