I took his course online and he was very helpful. Each week he would give us questions to answer for credit and it would be a class discussion. As long as you read the material, you will do well on the exams.

Although he sometimes to often reminds you how inteligent he is and his children are,he has a lot to offer. No papers to write and 99% of his test is from the outlines he gives.Thanx to those outlines, the only time I cracked the book was to study and to follow in class. His class is an easy one to pass!!! He does know his stuff!! You'll enjoy it!!

Dr. Gao is a great professor, answers your questions right away and is always willing to help you. His instructions are clear and he means what he says, no tricking you as far as exam questions.

I really enjoyed Dr. Gao's class. He has given new meaning to the idea of online classes. Although not in a classroom, I always felt like I was due to great interaction and a genuine interest in students and the course.

I really enjoyed Dr Gao's class. His study guides were very helpful and the questions he posted on the bulletin board were interesting and thought provoking. Dr. Gao's class is phenomenal. You can't go wrong with Dr. Gao. I was worried about learning and feedback with an internet class. Dr. Gao was fanstastic. He teaches with clarity and applies theories to situations in today's world. I would recommend him highly to anyone. I look forward to taking Abn Psy with him also. Thank you so much Dr Gao!

Abnormal Psychology with Dr. Gao was fun, we had some great class discussions which is the good and fun thing about his class. However, all the discussions got us behind schedule sometimes.. He teaches well and is humorous. His typed notes r good enough 4 tests. Read the chapters if you want a high A. I found this course very interesting, recommend

he's not hard. stresses everything that will be on exam.wants you to understand the concept;not just the definition and will go over and over it.basicly if you go over the study guide you can do the exam.i didnt study at all except the study guide and got an A.likes class participation, which includes just nodding your head if you're not a talker.

Easily understood, gives you all the info you will need for testing. Stress understanding of concepts and doesn't get hung up on stats, wants you to use your brain. Easy A, would take again.

Great Teacher! Very impressed for my first class first semester going back to college made it all worth it! Very approachable and easy to talk with. Relates to class on a real level not memorizing! Highly recommend just look at the whole picture of what he teaches not disect it and you should do well.

Dr. Gao was the best psych professor at HACC. He made abnormal psych super interesting and he is just a cool guy. He gives you grade you deserve and if you are a good student, he will go out of his way to let you know that. TAKE ANY CLASS YOU CAN WITH HIM!!!

Funny guy...will talk about anything if it pertains to class in some way. Hands out outlines of chapters and also has a detailed web access of the class...so the book isnt really needed. He is a good teacher and is always willing to help you if you ask.

Abnormal Psych Good teacher but in my opinion OVEREXPLAINED EVERYTHING I understood what he was talking about and hed continue giving examples and clarifying for another 20 minutes So it got boring SUPER hard grader rediculously hard His motto was something about keeping too many people from getting As to maintain some kind of quota

Great Professor! I took him for an online class and all of his lecutres were available to put on a MP3 and it was super helpful. Just a very nice person and a very helpful, clear (not too consise) and nice professor!

Very compassionate professor. Very willing to help and clarify any ?'s you may have. At times could get off track but kept the class interesting with his personal stories. Would recommend him as a professor. Very easy "A"...if you fail his class then you deserve to. It should be impossible to fail his classes. Thanks Dr. Gao for a great semester!

Dr. Gao is a great Professor! I had him over this summer online. His exams were easy, as long as you read the required chapters. It's an easy(A)class. He responds to any questions you have asap. His discussion posts are very helpful for exams and he even has prepared study guides to help you!Take his class you won't regret it.

Was a great teacher! Gave out study guides for each section with the important information on it and his lectures were made purely to comprehend what you're reading on the page. Online tests were easy, so if you read and paid attention to the lectures getting a good grade wasn't hard. If you failed his class you did something seriously wrong.

Good professor. BUT don't recommend if you're a psych major or have a great interest in psych. material is very surface level. we went deeper in my high school psych class. great for someone who's not a psych major and is just taking it as a required course though!

GREAT TEACHER!!! Was fun and kept your attention by relating some of his life with the class. Very intelligent man. Gave class notes which were really helpful and tests were given online, which was great. Would definitely take another one of his classes in the future.

He is a very easy professor! He typed out all the notes for you! You do have to go to class because he grades attendance but his class is very intersting so it was not bad to attend. He put all his tests online, even the final! I would take him again!

Dr. Gao is an amazing professor! I took his online course last semester. He gives you notes, and the content of the test does not differ from the given notes... He also posts online audio lectures and questions that enhance your understanding. Definitely recommend this professor; take any class you can with him!

Easiest class ever! I would recommend Dr. Gao to anyone!

I took him for both Psych 101 and 202. Everything is online, only one discussion assignment per week. He gives out study guides for tests and they cover about 95% of what will be on there. Only one other assignment was given for each class (very easy). He is nice and responds quickly. I highly recommend him for an easy A!!!!

I took this online. His expectations are clear from Day 1. Coursework is light and as long as you read the chapters there is no reason you can't do well in this class.

Very little work, which was extremely nice. We were expected to post 10 discussion questions the entire semester, awesome! His tests were hard if you didn't study. so I would definitely read the book, it's not hard, most of it is common sense. He lets you make one test up and gives you SO much extra credit. I got an A! He's a great professor.

Very good professor. He is energetic and fun. If you have problems, he has no problem answering and elping you out. I would refer him to anyone.

He's a very nice professor. Checks attendance on a daily basis. Spends half the class on a tangent that may or may not be related to the actual subject. I did not feel like I learned much from him because of the tangents, however he is a very friendly professor who is interested in your well-being.

Hands down, the EASIEST course/professor I have ever had. I took his course online and while I would not recommend my habits, I did not need to commit much time to this course at all and still completed it with a few points over an A+! His study guides provide all information needed for the exams and the term paper is simple. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Dr. Gao responds promptly to emails. The exams are reflective of the study notes provided and the material covered in the lecture. If you listen to the lectures and study the notes, you will do fine on the exams. Participation is encouraged throughout the course.

this professor is much easier in class than online. in class classes he leads u through what a test will be and is very personable. online, some of his instructions are hard to interpret and instructions are confusing because of his wording.

Pretty interesting class and teacher. He pretty much talks the whole time and you listen and take notes. You can do well if you print out EVERY study guide and bring it to class.I suggest always having it in front of you and highlighting the important parts cause his online tests are mostly right off the guide with some thought provoking questions.

Very easy and interesting class if you are interested in psychology. I took it online. Follow the expectations in the syllabus and you will receive an A.

BY FAR ONE OF THE BEST PROFESSORS I HAVE EVER HAD! Professor for life cycle development. All test are online he gives you a 3 day period to take the test. The textbook is not needed. RECOMMEND everyone take him he is amazing & LOVES his students. At the end of the semester you can make up a quiz you missed or didnt do so well on. Your grade should be no lower than an A.

Study the study guides and you will pass the exams! He is helpful and very easy going. You have all semester to work on your discussion posts too!

The class itself is simple. If you come to it, and listen to the lectures you will pass.

So glad I took his Psych 101 class. Even though the material is difficult - Dr. Gao provides you with SO MANY OPTIONS for understanding from the book, CD, Chapter Study Guides and recorded lectures AND email, if you can't understand the material the problem is with YOU. Awesome professor- hope to take more classes with him!

All you had to do to pass was come to class. You didn't need to take notes, and the exams were all online so you could just use your book or follow his study guides he made up for you and you would be just fine. He uses 40 points for attendance, so everytime you skip you lose like 5 or something and you can't get them back. Easy class, easy A.

Such a nice person. He's genuinely interested in you fully understanding the material. Pretty much hands you the test in study guide form. My first semester at HACC & he's by far my favorite professor. He lectures during class and allows plenty of opportunities for questions. Take his Classes!

Had Professor Gao twice for both my PSYC classes. Both were online. Online is great, work at your own pace. Gives the chapters ahead of time and you have a few weeks to do it before the exam. I recommend online!!!!Group discussions must as they were beneficial to the exams, 4 exams. Read the book answer discussions, easy class to pass.

He was very helpful when needed. He returned my emails fast. Discussions were helpful for exams. If you do the reading you'll do great on exams.

This was an online class that I took because if was a requirement. I have has Dr. Gao before and I found him very interesting and personable. I enjoyed the classes. The paper for this class was the toughest paper I had to write for college so far. I really appreciated the class.

I liked Dr. Gao. He seems to care about what grades the students get. He always reminded us via email to make sure to have all our work done. He also recorded lectures from his other classes, so those help a lot as well. If you study his study guide, you'll pass his tests. There's not much work other than the discussions and the research paper.

He is a great professor! Attendance are the discussion on D2L. He has study guide for you, so you do not need a book. His exams are straight forward, because it's what you studied, understand, and based on the study guide and on the discussion on D2L for each chapter!

Amazing prof!!! Answers email in timely manner. 4 exams multiple choice, 1 essay. He is a fair grader and checks on how your doing in the class. Exams are 50 questions and you have 50 minutes to complete it. You get a study guide for each exam. The answers are on the guide!!!

Great professor! I took this class in a 5-week condensed summer semester, and we moved at a fast pace. Listen to the lectures and follow along with the study guide. We had 4 tests and he let us make up one test. Follow the instructions carefully for the essay. I got an A for the course. Psych-101 in 5 wks prob not best idea if you're really busy!

Dr. Gao is an incredible professor. I took his online Psych 101 class and his online lectures and study guides were fantastic. He makes the online discussions very interesting. If you have any questions, he is very quick to respond. Gives amazing feedback!! I wish he could teach my other classes.

If you listen to the lectures and use the study guides you will be fine. There are no surprises on the tests, everything is covered. There is one paper, that you definitely need to give yourself enough time to complete. It took me a lot longer to find a study to use, than I expected it would take.

Had Gao for online Psyc 101. Had four exams, had to post 10 discussions, and a written summary. That's it. Not too bad at all. Book required.

Dr. Gao is an awesome professor. Most of his test questions come right off of the study guide and since they are all online it makes them super easy. He also gives great analogy's! The textbook is not required. He really stresses the understanding of the topic. He is a funny guy and all around great Professor.

Easiest class I have had. You don't need the textbook because everything on his test is in the study guide he makes for you. He gives audio lectures also for his online class. The research paper however, was the most difficult thing I have had to do so get started on it early after you figure out what type of experiment he will accept. Easy class.

Dr. Gao is amazing! He gives very in depth study guides so I never even used the textbook, I did buy it though just in case. He gives 4 exams, class participation (which is required for online classes), and a short paper. It's super easy and he makes it even easier to understand!

Gives study guides EXACTLY like the exam. Teaches on the information on the study guide and tries to make connections to make it easier to understand. 4 exams, all online. Very passionate about his job and I am sad to see him leave HACC.
