Good math prof. Explains complex math concepts well and is willing to go over ANY problem from your homework. Note: he collects homework every week and returns it promptly. If you tend to not do regular homework, you are throwing away points with him.

it was a pretty easy class and pretty relaxed. he was a great teacher, gave credit for pretty easy homework and such, and joked around with us. he's definately someone i wud like to have again

I took his web class. I have always taken hybrids so I was nervous about not having that time to get my questions answered by the instructor. My fears were for nothing. Xu is a great instructor. He was very helpful and understanding. He genuinely likes his students. I found him to be very personable.

What can I say, he's the man. I took both 151 and 152 with him. Was very helpful with everything. Forgiving with absences. If I could have taken every math I ever needed with him I would of.

He was very helpful. I was skeptical at first but as the quarter wnt by he was great. I never left the class confused like some other math classes. I would reccomend him...I will more than likely seek him out for the rest of my classes

if you can get by the "does this make sense" you will do great. it can be hard to understand him but he is very helpful and will meet if you have problems. i would take him again

I was really shocked at how clear his accent was, I thought it would be a lot harder to understand him. Sometimes things did seem like he made them more complicated than they needed to be, but otherwise he was a good teacher. Pretty easy A for me, but I'm good at algebra.

I enjoyed this professor. He knows his math, and is easy to understand. He is very skilled at making math understandable. He is someone who is doing what they were born to do, and doing it very well. I would search him out. I was in an accelerated class, and didn't get as good a grade as I had hoped for, but I did get the grade I earned.

Ming Xu was an amazing calculus 153 teacher. His approach seemed more realistic than other calculus teachers. He is flexible with the pacing of the class and takes extra time if you are not following him. He will teach you what calculus means and how to use it in real life applications. Highly Recommended!

He is such a laid back teacher, and fully explains everything. He'll make sure you get it before moving on. We had a lot of quizzes with easy points, and he made class go by pretty fast!

Great teacher! Has lessons on blackboard, purchase of textbook/my lab is optional for extra problem work. 10 homework assignments worth 5 points each as long as you turn them in you get points and he allows you to correct assignments and lets you know what is wrong. Very prompt in grading. Very Very Good.

Great teacher! I took his online class, and it was difficult, but he was extremely helpful. Any time I submitted homework, he would review and explain which ones I missed, and asked me to redo them. After I did, I would get full credit for the assignment. Do the work, and you will do fine!

He was very nice and helpful but it made it hard to get quick feedback because all the homework was in worddocuments insteadof using mymathlab. Dont purchase the book! Just ask questions and if you are going to be late tell him. He will work with you!

I would highly recommend this professor to anyone who still has to take math. He is very helpful,responds to questions the same day, and always very encouraging. His notes were excellent and gave great explanations of each chapter. He goes the extra mile to help each and every student succeed.

Good teacher. Nothing is mandatory and he is a lenient grader. Quiz every friday but he drops the lowest 2. Hard to understand because he will just put problems on the board and say try something. Overall I would reccomend him, but go to every class.

Very nice and always asks if everyone understands. He doesn't use blackboard much besides grade updates and is a chalkboard teacher. Must show up to pretty much all the classes and I didn't need the book. Majority of all the points are from quizzes/test and a final. He'll explain anything if you try

I always had quick responses by email and grades were promptly entered. Generally generous with grading, but do the text, exercises, videos; whatever works for you. The Our Classroom online bulky online format didn't work well for me but it was clear, accurate and thorough.

I hate math, but Mr. Xu will go out of his way to make sure everyone knows what they are doing. He loves math and will be there for you always. I would take any other math class with him as the teacher. He is a easy grader and a clear speaker. He reviews everything and wont make you feel unprepared for tests or quizzes

I took an class online. It was difficult b/c it was Math, not b/c of Xu. He was clear about his expectations, encouraging, accommodating & helpful, incredibly prompt with grading and responding to emails. I wish all professors were like this! Book and Blackboard lesson plans, weekly homework which can be redone for full credit, 4 tests, 1 exam

Dr. Xu is a top-grade professor. He is exceptionally clear in his explanations and presentation of concepts. He is helpful during his office hours and encourages students to do well. Take with Xu any math class you need, it is worth working your schedule around his class offerings. Too bad he doesn't teach higher than 1172. Highly recommended.

This guy is awesome! Laid back but still challenging. Very good lectures. Cares about his students. He pushes your understanding in class/ home-works but tests the baseline knowledge on tests. Probably the best teacher Ive ever had.

The only grades in this class are your unit tests and homework (4pt each) so it is important to do them, and do well on the tests but you are very prepared. helps if you took precalc, or are familiar with trig in high school/ other college courses. He is an incredible prof and remembers so much about each individual student. I felt very cared for.

Amazing lectures might be going too far, but I enjoyed his lectures. He would have us do examples on our own in class, then go around and help us individually if we were struggling. If I was a bit behind, I had no feeling of guilt, and he would just help you out. He's a good grader, and he's also very caring and sweet. In my top 2 fav profs.

Very laid back and honestly cares about each student doing well. While he was great, the school mandated class structure was not. Grades were way too test heavy. There was tons of online work and hw worth only a small fraction of your grade. The online forced time commitment was unrealistic.

I go to osu and was not about to take 1172 on campus. i took it at columbus state and it was the best decision i made. yes the material is naturally difficult but he really tries his best to make sure students understand. very clear with what he expects. super nice guy and class i highly recommend taking it with him.

I loved how this class was set up. There was a lot of homework between aleks and worksheets but it was worth it to retain the information. The professor is great at guiding you to the correct answer if you missed it. There is 4 test and a final that you have to take at the testing center.

I Highly recommend this Professor. He goes above and beyond to help you. Mr. Xu spends most of the time going over homework and provides in depth explanations to each problem. His tests are nearly identical to his study guides. Would definitely take him again.

What a dedicated teacher! My class was all online based but felt very confident the whole time I would pass. There was easy weekly homework that help greatly towards my grade. We also had aleks assignments. Great teacher, with quick feedback and helpful comments!

Overall a nice guy. His grading criteria can be frustrating at times but the class is not that hard. Responds to emails very quickly and is very clear about any questions you may have. Definitely a good teacher.

Professor Xu is very responsive with feed back on assignments, providing corrected answers to homework questions so you're able to go back and rework the problems. I liked the online format and enjoy using the Aleks program for practice. I do wish the class had a textbook.

Ming Xu is caring and doesnt get taken aback when students ask questions. However, trigonometry is still a very difficult course especially if math is not your forte. It is a 4 credit hour course, so a lot of information will be crammed in a short amount of time. If you struggle with math, Id strongly recommend a tutor for this course

Professor Mingzhi Xu is a great professor! Probably one of the best professor at Columbus state. I have dropped math so many times because I was scared, but this professor made this class so easy. He truly cares about your success,If you do your WOD'S, and aleks assignment and do well on the quizzes you will do just fine.

Great prof. If you want to explore anything deeper he is always willing to answer questions. He does a great job of taking math in words and making sense of it. He gives you test reviews, so you are very prepared for all exams. He really wants students to succeed and no student is left behind.

Professor Xu was an amazing instructor for this course! Attendance is not mandatory but do recommend not skipping as you can get behind very easily. The course is very paper heaven so be expected to be doing worksheets every class. As well as expecting homework after each class. There are weekly tests but it is an open note test.

He puts his humanity before his job, which is amazing. This professor really is a saint in my eyes. He's really relaxed with the grading, explains what's wrong every single time with every single problem. He's a big motivator to why I'm able to continue pushing through college. He saved my academic career.

He's very flexible and is always willing to help students that put in the work. If you plan on taking his class don't be afraid to ask questions or come up to him to ask questions, he's always willing to guide you into the right direction.Also, for this class it is imperative that you make study groups outside of class!!!!

Professor Xu has been so helpful this semester. He goes over problems in class which really helps with understanding certain concepts. He's also really understanding when it comes to deadlines. Expect to complete some worksheets in class and some homework/notes after class. There are also weekly tests but they are open note.

Professor Xu is funny, knows the material well and is willing to go over examples multiple times. His grading criteria was relaxed & always accepted late work. Attendance wasn't mandatory but not coming to class makes it harder to make up work. His class is very paper heavy, but it's all for your benefit. All tests are open note (if you take them)

Professor Xu was incredibly helpful in class. He was always willing to sit with me and explain things I didn't understand. He created a very welcoming environment to ask said questions and to help other students in class as well. Definitely a lot of homework but I had classmates who were so lovely and didn't mind helping. LOVED this class !

Mr. Xu is a very intelligent man who's very familiar with the material that he teaches. While he's generally patient and encourages students to ask questions(even through email) and resubmit old HW with corrections, he has difficulty in explaining certain tricky concepts to students. For Math 1120, this isn't uncommon. Take advantage of tutoring.

really sweet guy he does the homework in class so i don't bother doing it at home test are every Friday he does move fast in class so be sure to ask questions if you don't understand even if your scared this course does move fast and there is online homework as well as real homework notes will done every day and submitted every Sunday.

I loved Professor Xu, everything people said about him it's 100 percent true. If you show up to class and do what you're supposed to do you'll be just fine!. He's very easy going with the homework, and also takes your homework late. He's actually one of the best professors I've meet so far at CSCC. I would recommend him 100 times again and again!.

Professor Xu's class helped me realize that I can be good at math as long as I put in the work. The class is challenging because there is no lecture, and you have to work out the problems on your own. However, he will answer any questions you have. As long as you complete all the homework and at least make an attempt on the tests, you will pass.

Like others were saying there is no lecture so it can be difficult if you're not great at math. However, Professor Xu will answer all questions you have and really cares about whether or not you understand. If you check the syllabus it tells you exactly what you're doing each day too so there are no surprises as well. Also, he is super lenient!
