Minhao is such a sweet guy and cares about his students. Also, he recently finished graduate school at Loyola so he can relate to students and their needs. Therefore, he provides study guides for quizzes and exams because he knows it is useful, and occasionally has extra credit to boost up one's grade. He makes math enjoyable & easy to understand.

I honestly sucked at the most basic math but Professor Gu walked through everything step by step. He explained various examples from the homework and always reviewed tests and quizzes. Professor Gu was the best math teacher I have ever had. His class IS easy, but also helps a lot if you struggle in math and you want to improve your skills. I have always struggled with Math, and this was the best professor I've ever had. He takes the time to explain and give several supporting examples to help you understand. He posts a practice quiz with the solutions before every quiz, and if you study that, you will be guaranteed to get an A on every one. He does the same thing with exams.

AMAZING MATH TEACHER! So nice, easy class, and I actually learned a lot of math. Just do his practices quizzes and exams and you will get 100%. The class was easy and he made learning a breeze. He broke the material down really well and never skipped a step. The tests are easy 90% and he goes over the problems before the tests. 1 or 2 problems are conceptual and are meant to be difficult for the 100% and he doesn't go over those. I never got credit and still got an A.

I walked into Math 118 hating math and everything about it. Professor gu has completely changed my outlook on math in general. Professor Gu is the greatest professor I have had here at Loyola. He is the most caring and outstanding professor I have ever met, you would be lucky to have him as a professor.

Don't let these bad reviews fool you! Gu is the BEST prof here at LUC for math. I failed math in HS & taking him changed my outlook. He makes sure you have ample study material to pass. The bad reviews must be people who didn't actually study & just memorized answers. You should attend class & take notes, then practice problems & it will be an A!

Took Gu during COVID and it was asynchronous. Sent out notes that we had to copy and upload pics of to Sakai. 5 question homeworks and he posts practice tests on WileyPlus that are exactly like the tests. He gives extra credit and it's an easy A, my only complaint was that the final was made by the math department, not Gu, and I felt unprepared.

Professor Gu made it easy for students to suceed in his class. He usually took awhile to reply to emails but he defienitely made up for it with lots of extra credit and a grading scale that is heavily weighted in A's and B's. I plan on taking Gu for all my math courses.

Gu is the best math prof at Loyola. I have taken him for 3 semesters now and gotten an A every time, and I suck at math. During covid he did have emergencies that made him hard to reach and he was super behind on grading, but he's not usually like that. Study guides are very similar to exams and he's the sweetest. Gives a extra credit pass too
