Alot clearer than James and an easier grader. Class is real boring though.
her class is NOT BORING! Her class is pretty good but you gotta know your basics otherwise it will feel like you are missing a load of stuff since she goes over things as if it were a review. But if you ask her about your problems she is very helpful.
Too prush a too is four! I terr a yoo, is four! This woman rocks Harper like a hurricane! Take her. If her antics don't entertain you, you're probably a vegetable. Easy class. Minhua is a blast.
MULTIPLE CHOICE TESTS WHAT IS EASIER THEN THAT!!!!
Her class is horrible, you cant understand a word out of her mouth. Its hard...I would never take her again.
She uses seven-year-old transparencies, talking a up a storm all while the whole class tries to copy down the notes; thereby not picking up a single word she says. (one guy in class only showed up for tests and got a C)(tests are every other week on monday)
hard to understand, in her over head notes he talks fast, would never ever take her again. did a big mistake by registering for her class.
She has a thick Chinese accent, which can be difficult to understand at times. She's really smart though, but sometimes expects the students in her class to be as smart as her. My class moved really fast, but she tried to help. Overall, she was just ok.
BEST HARPER MATH TEACHER! 1. Multiple choice tests 2. HW is extra credit 3. Coming to class is extra credit 4. Teacher is very nice 5. Grading style is clear. I took Azad first semester and dropped. I hate the ****. Take Lui, i love this teacher!

she is evil..she has a very bad teaching style and when you ask her questions, she cant answer it. dont take her, you'll regret it, i did!
I accidently took her class. I regreted it so much. Her quizes might be multiple choices but they are really hard. She expects you to know everything. She doesn't really know how to teach right.

evil evil evil..thas all wat i can say right now
She is the worse teacher i've ever had. DO NOT TAKE HER!!!!!!!!! i m warning u. if u take it, u'll fail the class. that's all i'll say.
she is the awesome teacher. she explains so clearly that within a second u get it. and also helps personaly. her test are hard but in test she ask from notes and homework only. so not a big deal.
wouldnt recommend her. but just dont go into the class thinking its gonna be easy..STUDY
She was terrible and hard to understand. She was mean and did not explain well.
Folks, she not that hard. If you do what a student is suppose to do you'll be fine with Lui. That doesn't mean you're get an 'A,' but you'll be alright.
STOP!!!!If you get a poor grade in prerequirements then I will suggest you not to take this teacher for this class. She will review all the materials she made couple years ago and nothing new.I got an "A" for this class because I knew calculus completely. If you are struglling with algebra or trignometry, class will be hard as in hell for you.
one of the worst math teachers i've ever had. teaches by using the exact same examples from the book. you could just as easily read the book and learn the material on your own and just show up to take the tests. she reviews for tests by telling us what kind of problems are going to be on it...then she puts completely different problems on the test. which makes so much goddamn sense!
the worst ever teacher at harper college. ive taken a trig class in high school, and because of that i know whats going on. if youve never taken trig before, and ur going into pre calc dont take her. and plus she doesnt speak english. its broken chinese.
bad teacher... doesnt help you with anything... all your tests are worth 20 points with no 1/2 credit on anything...
WHAT A WASTE OF MONEY THINK TWICE BEFORE YOU TAKE HER CLASS
Very HARD! she doen't give enough points, its impossible to boost your grade. she really makes you work hard for just a B! I hate math now!
she is suck.. When you dont something and ask her for explaination she would say oh you will get it later. Get it get it. she is crazy..dont take her unless u want to drop it in the middle of semester
I suppose if you can teach yourself from the book, then you'll do just fine. Otherwise, good luck grasping the material through her teaching tactics... or lack of rather. She is a very nice person, but her attendance is almost unecessary as she teaches STRAIGHT from the book. Good luck!
This woman is a joke. She doesnt speak english. She doesnt teach. She doesnt offer help. Take her only if you are planning on dropping in the middle of the semester.
she's just hard. no extra credit at all.and it gets harder and harder. i even took calc in high school. i never got any Bs in any other math classes except this stupid class. this class lowered my GPA. even though you are confident w/ math, this class will be hard. just don't take it.that's all i have to say.
First and foremost, she is very difficult to understand because she speaks with a thick Asian accent. She also talks too fast. That makes it harder to understand her. Her entire class is out of 300 points, so you can only miss very few points to still get a good grade. She gives no extra credit and no partial credit on tests. Not recommended.
Just come to class every day. You miss a class and you will be trying to survive. Goes through material really quick so better then some teachers who drag through all the material. She keeps the same class layout.
shes really not that bad..... she is a little difficult to understand but if you pay attention you will be fine...... she was nice to everyone in my class......dont worry about taking her class..not as bad as everyone makes it sound
helps out when needed
helps out when needed i disagree with the others when i had a question she always answered it and i believe her teaching style is great... but if you dont get the problems with at least one or two examples then you should not take her.....she knows how to teach
IF YOU WERE AN HONORS STUDENT IN HIGH SCHOOL YOU WILL LOVE THIS TEACHER........SHE WAS GREAT TESTS ARE EASY IF YOU STUDY BUT GIVE HER A CHANCE SHE IS GREAT AND ALWAYS ASKS THE STUDENTS IF THEY GET IT..... BUT YOU NEED TO SPEND TIME STUDYING......
Two prusha two is four. It's about that easy!
not fun....not good at all didnt give an "A" to the one who deserves....do not take her class at all
dont listen to them she's good. all you need to do to pass the class is do all the homework which is easy and come to class. she's kinda hard to understand but she's actually funny and she wants u to pass not fail and gives lots and lots of extra credit.
She just doesn't explain everything that is covered in the homework. She doesnt explain things very well. She expects you to know everything already
yea do not listen to all these comments. she is a great teacher. you have to get to kno her. if u dont go to class and jus expect to get an A then good luck. her lectures are pretty clear. she might go fast but you have to talk to her and she will go back. the more you ask questions the more she gets helpful. just dont sit there only ...talk to her
WOrst TEacher ever!!! I have only receive one C through out my student career. Do not take her!!
Very hard to understand. She moves through material very fast. You get?...YOU GET NOW?!?! Thats all the help u get from her. Just buy the book and learn on your own.
She is not as bad as people make her out to be. She's a good teacher, goes a little fast but will slow down and explain more, if people ask questions. She's tough but fair.
nice lady, but explains material too fast. She explains main concepts, but the main concepts don't deal with the homework all the time.
I heard lots of bad things about Ms. Liu, but I personally liked her. She's really nice and funny. The tests are kind of hard though.
Mrs. Liu is awesome! She makes sure you understand everything really well. If you have questions she encourages you to ask them. Her tests are based off the review that she does with the class the day before, but they are not easy so be prepared to work hard. She is a great teacher and extremely smart! TAKE HER!! YOU GET NOW!
OK honestly... disregard every good comment you've read about Liu because she is hot garbage. I am thinking that all the positive feedback was probably written by her to make herself appear better. DO NOT take this lady. Barely speaks english, not approachable at all, and she's ALWAYS in a bad mood. I feel bad if you do take her. hates kids
I've taken 3 classes with her as the teacher and every one of those classes I've gotten a B or higher. Very good teacher and easy to understand as well as very helpful to the students. If you're having trouble with work in her class she can really help you easily catch up. She's also really good cuz she goes around the class helping each student.
I failed and it was ALL MY FAULT! The class is really hard, but she will give you everything you need to succeed she is also hilarious. She makes sure everyone gets it before she moves on if you don't speak up it's your fault. I've never had a teacher that cares so much! Great teacher!
honestly i dont like her at all. she yells at the class when we dont all answer the EASY questions she asks when explaining the algebra behind a tough problem. she expects you to do the homework when she teaches the easiest form of a problem. the tests are much harder than anything we do in class or in the book. she can be funny, but i am dropping
She is very intellectual and knows the material well. You can blow off homework, but I'd advise you not to. The tests are pretty difficult, so be ready for a night of studying. The problems on the tests are a lot harder than the actual material she teaches in the class.
Not an easy teacher , but she is really clear and approachable , she explains the material very well. she ha a review session each time before the test which basically prepare you 80% for the test
My favorite teacher at harper. Took for Calc 1 and 2. Got A's in both classes. Very prepared for class and her number one goal is to get her students to understand the concepts. Wish she was teaching Calc 3 but I couldnt convince her. Do you homework and BE THERE for review days before the test.
She is a great teacher. Please take her. I took her for Computer Science. Everyone in my class that payed attention and studied the notes she gives us before the test got a B or higher. You do not need to study from the textbook. The notes she gives you are enough to get an A in class. Just make sure you study the notes you take in class.
She is a great teacher. She wont move on until everyone understands it she offers help when you need it. She does sometimes yell but if you care about your grade in the class and put effort then take this class. She teaches it really well and is helpful im not a big math person but she made this class easier to understand
BE CAREFUL...she is hard and she will work you to your max. I found her clarity hard. Be forewarned take another professor if you arn't good at calc already...
HARD I hope you really consider trying to get into another class prior to attending hers
She was a great teacher. She barely used the book (Big C++). She was very knowledgeable about CS and she was always ready to help anyone who needed it. Her tests weren't too bad as long as you follow her guidelines for the format of the code. I would recommend her.
She does a pretty good job explaining the basics of problems in class. However, the test problems are usually wayyy more complicated than the ones covered in class. I found it impossible to get more than a 70% on her tests because of the complexity of the problems.
She does a good job explaining the materials in class. the test layout were simple, but the questions were complicating compared to what was covered in class. One plus side of the class is that your attendance replaces your lowest test score! Heavy accent, but it's understandable. I would recommend other teachers.
SHe is way too hard. I definitely would not reccomend her to anyone. She only grades on tests and even if your attendance is really good it still will not help. I haven't failed a class till her and have not needed to study for math till her.
She is a rather hard grader, don't come into the class thinking you can skim by and get an A. If you do the homework, and study for the tests you definitely won't fail the class. She expects you to memorize all the formulas you need to know. If you put forth the effort you won't fail the class.
Yammers on as fast as she can, leaving students hopelessly behind as she babbles. Unless you already know the material, you might as well just stay home and read your textbook.
I had her for Calc this past semester, and was initially worried due to the ratings on here. I was pleasantly surprised to find Liu is very kind and passionate about her subject. She wants you to learn and is willing to help. Her accent may be tricky for some to understand, but this is common amongst many teachers at Harper. I would have her again.
Talks fast but if you watch the examples you'll understand test are short and if you go to the review you'll be fine for the test. Go to class and do the honework
Great teacher to take calculus with. She provides example problems. She checks homework but does not collect or grade it and goes over it in class the next day. There is a review day before each test where she outlines the test for you. The textbook is a reference tool but good to purchase. Attend class, do the homework, and ask questions.
Test every 2 weeks-30 points each. HW is graded on effort. Lowest test is dropped and replaced with your attendance score. Lectures were useless to me, though some liked them. She shouts math at you until it's pounded into your brain. "U get now! Hello!". She is actually very nice and helpful though. She's funny too. There are worse profs out there
She is pretty cool, explains well, gives examples, checks hw daily and drops lowest test with hw. I really recommend her. She funny too which is a plus. cool proffesor
Her class was very easy, however, I later realized that how she taught was not very relevant to the computer science industry and you'll have to play a lot of catch up in later classes. I recommend you take her if you're doing it to fulfill a gen-ed. Do not take her if you plan on going into comp sci
Her style of teaching dose't help you learn anything. She goes extremely fast through each chapter and she gives you a test every two weeks even though you are not ready at all! I don't recommend taking her because she doesn't care if you fail or not! She care only about herself! Shame on her! The worst teacher at Harper! I don't recommend taking!

Liu goes really fast through the material and never explains anything
Poor style of teaching! Don't take her!
Before you take this teacherthink twice because you have an 80% chance to fail or drop this class. Out of 6 test I took, all my programs were working perfectly but my average grade was still a C. Even if youdo you're best she will always find a way to take points off. Her accent is horrible and she speaks extremely fast. Her explanations are vague
I don't understand these reviews aboout her here. She is by far one of my favorite teachers, I had her for Calc 1 and Calc 2. When I needed help, she agreed to meet me right away. She does go fast sometimes but she's a really cool teacher who's willing to help. I love her grading system. She will help you acheive the best grade possible.
I would not recommend her. She makes the class way harder than it should be. If you have to take Calculus I'd recommend someone more easy going (or really anyone else). She expects you to MEMORIZE pretty much everything. I mean she's a nice person but I find her a very difficult teacher. If you have to take her, good luck. I hope you make it.
This professor is an amazing teacher. Even though sometimes you may find that the material she is teaching is confusing, she will do many examples until you get the problem. Would recommend to everyone!!!
This was my first year in college, and I needed to take Calculus 1, so I took her. She is a great professor, and there is no good excuse not to get an A in this class. She tells you what will be on test and does a review day. Test are 3 free response and 20 multiple choice. She will try to give partial credit and sometimes let's you retry.
I am confident in my belief that those who wrote negative reviews for Mrs. Liu did not apply themselves or pay attention in her class and then blamed her for their bad grades. Calculus is tough sometimes, but Mrs. Liu only tests you on the concepts that you should be an expert on, as long as you go to class.
Very good Calc 1 teacher. You truly have to earn the A, but you learn so much in the process. If you are a hardworking student, take this class because she is very rewarding to someone like yourself. I would definitely take her again.
She is an amazing teacher, but you have to be willing to work hard and study. Otherwise, you won't pass. Attend class and do your homework!
She is honestly one of the best math teachers ive ever had, she spends a lot of time making sure all of her students are understanding the material and spends a lot of time trying to explain things you don't understand. She is very easily reached and is by far one of the best math teachers on campus :^)
If you really want to learn calculus and are willing to give your time Mrs. Liu will meet with you and help you understand. She provides an awesome final review for the online course. Highly recommend her.
Mrs. Liu is very under rated. She has an accent so it can be hard to understand her at first but you get used to it. Her tests are very easy and she is very helpful. She also gives a lot of extra credit. She was one of my favorite math teachers and I would take her again.
She has an accent but you can understand he as you get more used to it. She is such a great teacher that goes over everything and gives so many example problems. She grades really easily on tests and doesn't grade the homework. She wants you to pass. Her tests are pretty easy and she's funny. I wish she was teaching Calc2 next semester.
She was a good teacher. Used to go around class to check whether students were doing in-class assignments and help us if we had any questions. Never used the book. Her accent was a little distracting at times. I took her in the summer and got A, but I also had a good background in calc.
I wish that Prof. Liu taught Calc 2. I took calculus in high school and mostly already understood the course, but she made the concepts so much clearer than I remember learning them. Her accent isn't that hard to understand and she will do everything to make sure you pass the class. Homework is completion, tests are short and the class isn't long.
Took MTH200 over the summer. She talks really fast when she's giving the lessons, but if you're confused, she slows down and explains for you. Very lenient grader for tests and goes over every homework problem. Courseload is very little, just study for tests, and you pass. Her accent is a little hard to understand at times, but you get used to it.
Phenomenal teacher, took her for my calc 1 class during the summer and it was much easier with her as the teacher. She makes sure you understand the formula, constantly asking whether you have questions or not. If you do have a question she will happily answer it with a response that often makes the issue go away. Would recommend to future students
Took Her Online Class. Gives 3 Chances For Each Homework Assignment, & For Each Problem. Homework Assignments Are Long. Are Given 2 Chances On Each Quiz. Final Is Taken On Campus & Allows A Cheat Sheet.
Good teacher, lectures are disorganized but make sense. Spends a lot of time going through problems and examples. Test every other week. Will take 1 point off for specific things, tells you what they are. Not a harsh grader though. Gives tricks to remember things. Homework everyday, but not many problems. Will replace lowest test with attendance.
Took Calc 1 over the summer with her, amazingly attentive toward every student, and extremely helpful both in and out of the classroom. I have nothing but great things to say about her
Fantastic. As long as you do the homework and projects in CS121, you will easily get the hang of it. Attendance replaces your lowest test score. So go to class. If you're learning a programming language, you really don't want to miss class anyway. Did not use the book at all.
she keeps saying is that right
One of my first Professors at Harper. She is amazing. Her homework and lectures are straight. i.e you will get an A if you learn. If you can't pass the class or find programming is too difficult, I suggest you shouldn't take higher-level CS classes after CSC121. Take time to practice and learn more.
The online class was on MyLab Math, so the homework and quizzes were all by yourself and you just had to do it before the due date, so it was a pretty self paced class. To pass, you literally have to do the homework and understand it from there. Whenever I had a question, I just sent her an email and got a response back promptly.
I took her online calculus class, being calculus its already difficult. She did have good lecture videos, they were sorted nicely as well. Occasionally there will be a question on a quiz/test that wasnt gone over which is frustrating. Though if youre naturally good at figuring things out, you should be fine.
I though that I was terrible at math, but Mrs. Liu was fantastic. Take this professor if you get chance. You will not regret it.
Super sweet teacher! Only grades based on tests though no quizzes or homework grades. Pretty easy class as well if you understand the lectures. Go to class, she will replace your lowest test score with your attendance grade!! She does care about her students & is willing to put in the time. Can look a little intimidating but super understanding!
Minhua Liu is great and does a very well job at meeting expectations as a college professor. She cares about her students a lot and will help you work through a problem if you don't understand. She encourages to ask questions in her lecture you should not shy away from it, it definitely helps in the long run.
Very glad I got to take this professor in my first and second semester. Highly recommend her as she is extremely straight forward and elaborate with every single lecture she does. As long as you do the homework that she gives frequently then it is impossible to not get an A in this class. If you are taking math then definitely choose this professor
Such a great teacher. She will always find time for you to help with any questions you have. She responds to emails as fast as it possible, which is a great thing, if you struggle in math as me.
Do you want to pass? AND ACTUALLY LEARN. Take this class i promise YOU WILL NOT REGRET
TAKE HER! Biased b/c I have taken calculus in high school but her class was one HW a week, quizzes every two weeks, midterm, and a final. Multiple choice (everything) and on Pearson. She responds to her emails fast and can answer anything. It's self paced, so you can finish the class like half way through the semester. Calc never felt more simple.
Took CALCI and I truly enjoyed it. She will respond on your emails as fast as she can. Also, she will help you with your questions. She is great.
It's a pretty straightforward syllabus, a manageable class. As long as you don't miss the deadline, there will be no problems. One of the best professors in mathematics. Definitely get it without hesitation!
She doesn't make the lectures herself. Lectures are not congruent. Everything is multiple choice. If you actually want to learn the material, choose another instructor.
If you have taken calculus in high school and remember it this is great course. My issue was with the lectures that aren't even created by her. They are very outdated. The workload is very manageable with only 1 homework a week usually being 20 questions. The midterm and final are too few questions though each question has lots of weight.
If you're learning calc for the first time, avoid this professor. Lectures aren't even hers. They're WAY outdated, over-complicate simple concepts & don't correlate to the homework. I had to look up my own lecture videos & learn the content by myself. PearsonMyLabMath is basically your professor. Professor Liu doesn't provide anything to the class.
Best prof ever
