very nice lady but everything is on powerpoint so you might as well get the book and teach yourself.
I took Dr. Askari for Genetics and she was a great teacher. She is a researcher who obviously loves her field, and takes a sincere interest in her students.
Class is very boring. Uses all powerpoints which are very difficult to print out in a font easy to read. Would love to see her use standard docments. But she is fair and helpful.
This isn't her subject. She cannot answer questions, cannot re-phrase and cannot admit she doesn't know or made a mistake. Avoid at all costs.
Great class. She is very helpful, very nice, cares about the subject and her students. Highly recommend!!!
Can not understand!!! She uses powerpoint through the whole class! Boring, Party of 1 please.
FANTASTIC. Rearrange your schedule to get Dr. Askari.
Bio 1110 has a lot to do with cellular mechanics and genetics. She is very experienced with this material and is very interested in the students understanding the material. You can tell that she really wants the students to understand the concepts, and she is willing to have after-class discussions and pre-test review sessions to accomplish this.
Excellent Teacher. I loved her Anatomy and Physiology lectures and felt she was very fair in spite of working under a jerk of a lead teacher.
Dr. Askari ROCKS!! She was a great Anatomy/Physiology teacher despite having dept head that is arrogant and rude. I rearranged my schedule so that I could have her for Microbiology this semester. Love. Her.
Good Luck in Microbiology!!
Good Luck in Microbiology!! The dept. head instructor is not that bad.
Dr Askari is helpful and thorough. I loved being in her class and her lab. Always available for help and shows a real interest in her students and the subject.
Great teacher, cares worlds for her students, just go by her office.
By far the best Biology professor that Pellissippi offers! Ive taken 2 bio, A&P I,II, micro and she is a very talented lady and concerned with you learning and understanding the material. If you can get her for your class DO IT!!
Dr. Askari is the best lab teacher on the face of the Earth. She will show you how to do everything before you do it and is super helpful. If you are going into the biology/micro field then this is the teacher to take. You will learn how to do everything the CORRECT way. She is totally awesome and definately worth taking!
Have to read the book and teach yourself the material. This professor does not have a good system for students to take notes in her class. She just goes through power- point slides and keeps talking until she puts you to sleep. Very boring and awful teaching method ?don?t take her class.
I took her because she seemed like she knew what she was talking about, and she does, but she is awful at explaining things and when you ask for another explanation it's usually the same thing just switched around. I think she's unreasonable and unclear, and I have never had a teacher talk so fast and go through so many notes in one class.
worst professor ever
Mrs. Askari is very intelligent and knows as much as you can know about genetics. However, she is not very good at explaining the information. I took this class and made a C. She gives quizzes before every class, which is good to help your grade. I would not recommend this teacher.
Dr. Askari is very pasionate about her work. If you want to learn alot about the subject take her however if ur expecting an easy class no way. She expects alot out of u and demands u make her class priority. She expects you 2 know the info front and back. She hasn't taught gen bio long and it shows. There is no interaction in her class all lecture
Pretty easy class if you do the work (as most classes) Tests are very reasonable and an accurate overview of what was taught. She loves bio-makes it easy to listen to her. Very much follows ALL pstcc rules, almost unnecessarily. No food, drink, tech in class and also on attendance policy and gets feisty when you break them, but very nice otherwise
The best teacher ever!!!
Loved the Professor. Great teacher. She knows a lot and teaches you a lot. If you want to learn biology take her
I love Dr. Askari! She is extremely intelligent, insightful, and is passionate about her profession and the success of her students. This is not an easy class especially if you have not had biology before, so be ready to work hard. I plan on taking genetics with her.
Dr. Askari is an asset. Wish PSCC had more teachers like her.
I love Dr. askari. She is so knowledgeable and helpful. She really makes Biology interesting!!!!
It was an honor & a privilege to be taught by Professor Askari . She is an amazing instructor & I would highly recommend her class.
Dr. Askari is one of the best professors I have ever had. She is so passionate about what she does.
she is a great professor and is very good at explaining. makes things easier
If you want to learn biology take her class. She is the best.
Wonderful professor, the best I have had at Pellissippi. She knows a lot and is very passionate about the subject. I would recommend her class to anyone.
Dr. Askari is a wonderful professor! She is very helpful and caring with all her students. Her class isn't easy, but it I would recommend her! :)
I hated this class. Askari is nice, but she's very confusing and doesn't go along with the textbook for her lectures it's pointless but you have to come to class. Her tests include many things she does not go over, the book becomes useful then.
If biology is not your cup of tea absolutely do not take this glass. Brilliant and kind professor, but went more in depth than the book ever did. Tests are a disaster and you must be almost a biologist to make an A. Overall very disappointed with the course and did not feel as though I was fairly taught
BEST BIO TEACHER AT PSCC I had biology before but it had never made sense. She was excellent at teaching it the way that it all fell into place. She used everyday examples thatmademade things easier to understand. She really wants you to learn and held review sessions before all tests.... Very helpful. RECOMMEND!!!
I only had her for lab, but I can tell she must be a great lecture instructor. She even lectures in the lab, but it's to get everyone on the same page. She teaches the material well and explains things as much as you need. Very respectful teacher.
Excellent instructor. Had her both for lecture and for lab. An A is definitely possible, but you have to work hard to get it. Extremely helpful in lab because she includes lecture material to get everyone on the same page. Would definitely take her again.
Dr. Askari is a really nice lady, she very knowledgeable on the topic of Microbiology. She has some of the toughest tests I have ever taken thus far, and very few areas to make points up; no homework or projects, also she does not believe in study guides. She's tough and I recommend not taking this class with any other science courses.
I wouldn't take this professor again. She is very impatient and gets mad if anyone asks questions. She explains things wrong, and then when people miss it on the test, she refuses to accept any responsibility, even though the entire class would miss it. She was in a bad mood every single day. I'm an A+ student and struggled for my B+. RUN!
Awesome professor if you are interested in learning!! very helpful, fast to respond to emails, fair with grading. You can tell Dr. Askari really loves her job and her students. IRECOMMEND!!!.
I took this professor for an online Micro course and she was quite difficult. Her expectations were a bit much. Her exams are tough and she does NOT give a study guide. If you have choice, I would take someone else.
Dr. Askari is a tough professor. I had her online for Microbiology 2130 and her tests were the hardest tests I've ever had. I wouldn't ever take her again. No study guides. The material wasn't in the correct chapters assigned. It was supposed to be 900 points total and ended up being 945 which changed my grade the last day from an A to a B...
She is REALLY nice and I know she cares about everyone but I really did not enjoy her class. Studying for exams was hard.
She is the best micro teacher at PSCC. You need to study to pass but she is very clear about what needs to be done to pass the class. She does post study guides and also she is very accessible outside of the classroom. Definitely recommend taking micro with her!!!
simply the best!!!!
If you want to understand micro, take it with Dr. Askari. She goes above and beyond to teach her students!
Professor Askari was without a doubt the most difficult instructor I've had in my two years at PSTCC. Straight A's in both A&P 1&2 with amazing teachers and a D in her class. She made quite a few mistakes on tests and the study guide was a simple list of every single topic. Do NOT take her lab and lecture unless your not taking any other classes.
I do not recommend this teacher.
Do not take this class with this professor!!! If you don't know the answers to her questions she will not help you. She grades really hard.
Ms. Askari is such a sweet lady. Although I am really struggling in this class, she will help her students. She cares about her students. The reason I say this class is difficult is because not only do you have to know the material, but you have to understand and apply those answers. This is my weekness when it comes to learning. Prepare to study.
This is the best biology professor hands down! I was so nervous about this class and she made everything make sense. She has a passion for this course and her excitement is addicting. Read the book and review her slide shows and you will pass. I had such an amazing semster with her and will never foget her. THANK YOU PROFESSOR ASKARI!!
Dr. Askari is incredible. She is passionate about microbiology, and does her best to convey this passion in both lab and lecture. She is a type "A" personality and is incredibly organized and structured. If you put in the time and effort, this is not a difficult A. Not an easy A, but she is a great instructor who will do her best to help you.
Professor Askari loves learning and teaching. She provides lecture notes and her PowerPoints on D2L. Print the PowerPoints off to take notes on them during class because the lectures are fast-paced. Her chapter quizzes help you stay on track with the material. Study her PowerPoints for the tests. The textbook is also very helpful and written well.
Askari is an incredible teacher. Her tests really make you think and are not the easiest but it is clear on what her tests will be on. Provides study guides and study sessions. Look at powerpoints and the book to study. Will help the best she can. She is enthusiastic about what she teaches and loves her students. Definitely recommend her.
Dr. Askari is passionate about microbiology. She is a sweet lady who really wants her students to succeed, but this is a difficult subject. Print her Ppt slides, her lecture notes, and READ THE TEXTBOOK and you will be fine.
Best instructor I have ever had. Dr. Askari is very knowledgeable and loves to teach. If you want to learn microbiology, take her class. She also cares a lot about her students and will help her student's out as much as possible. Recommend taking her class wholeheartedly!!!
Hands down worst teacher I've ever had. Just finished my Biochem degree at UT and I'm still haunted by this horrid prof. She constantly got mixed up, but if u corrected her she'd punish you for the next week. Would never admit she made a mistake. Screamed at a guy til she turned red for fixing his pen during class. Unreasonable, hateful, inept.
Dr. Askari was my professor for lecture and lab. I have to say I enjoyed her more in the lab setting. Don't get me wrong, she was a fantastic instructor, but I feel during the lecture portion, she tended to get behind on material making us very cramped for time here at the end of the semester. However, she was a great instructor and helped a lot!
INSPIRATIONALCARINGAMAZING LECTURES I have tru loved Dr. Askaris class this semester . She is an AMAZING TEACHER!!! If you have to take micro TAKE HER!! Both lab and lecture. She breaks everything down to where you can understand it. She is very passionate about teaching and loves her students. Thank you Dr. Askari!!!
Dr. Askari is an exceptional teacher, and her passion for being an educator of microbiology is noticeable from the beginning. If you are looking for an easy A, take a different class. If your goal is to walk away with knowledge, this is your instructor. As someone on track to become a nurse, I appreciated her immensely. She is awsome!
This was by far one of my favorite professors. I would recommend her to anyone. She is caring and all around wonderful!! Super sweet and very welcoming. Lots to learn but I loved her class. she is truly an educator!!! Take her class :)
Loved Dr Askari's class! She was positive and energetic every single day of class. I had her for both lecture and lab, and she was extraordinarily organized for both. She loves student interactions and class participation. She was also easy to follow. Her tests were hard but she is a fair grader. I wish she was teaching more than just micro!
Dr. Askari is an awesome teacher! Micro is a hard course but she knows the material inside and out. She is very helpful and an all around good person.
Dr. Askari is an AMAZING Professor! I had her for Micro Lab. She is very caring and loves helping her students. She met with me several times outside of class to go over material I missed. I would recommend her to anyone.
Dr. Askari is a caring professor. She loves her job and it shows. With all the happenings of Covid and online situation, she did not disappoint in reaching out and supporting us students. I learned a lot even in an online format. She always went above and beyond the expectations of a 'great' on-line professor. I recommend taking her class!
Rude, never stops talking, always saying the opposite of what she previously says, confusing. Take someone else because she grades ridiculously hard. Looks down on pellissippi students. Acts entitled.
Dr. Askari is an excellent professor. She has high expectations, but they are reasonable and achievable. She is super passionate about the material and about teaching, and her enthusiasm is contagious. Dr. Askari is kind and caring, while pushing students to do their best. Her teaching style is thorough, detail-oriented, and clear.
Provides enough assignments for grade fluffing but she critically grades them & some of the questions seem more opinion based, she does however elaborate as to why you missed something even if its the most petty point. Her exams do not closely follow assignments and her final exam study guide doesnt come close to fully prep you for actual final
THE BEST PROF EVER!!! I learned so much in from this class, she is great. She actually cares about you doing well. This is not an easy class, but she makes it easy to understand. Thank you Dr. Askari!!!
Professor Askari was amazing!! Her lectures are comprehensive, her tests are reasonable, and the homework helps with understanding of the lecture material! She's amazing at organizing class material, is always accessible outside class. I would absolutely recommend her!
Worst Professor I have ever had(.) I am a A/B student, I excel in science courses and when I made a 50 on my first test she sent me straight to tutoring and didn't offer any assistance. When I reached out to her about me struggling she told me that if i wanted extra resources I could youtube them myself. The test are HARD.
A ridiculously critical & inconsistent grader. Tells you to fill in the essay questions from her outlines, then accuses you of plagiarizing the outlines SHE provided. She hates to give A's and will do anything to not give you one. I had an A after the final, and somehow my final grade was changed to a B+. She has yet to provide any explanation.
Had her for my BIOL2130 online lecture and lab and felt that she was a great online instructor! Her lectures postings weren't too long and she provided clear lab instructions well. She is knowledgeable about the content. Answers questions very quickly. A great online instructor.
She is so passionate about micro and she makes it so interesting that everyone enjoys the class. Her tests are easy if you study, but she broke down everything so we could understand the concepts! She holds review sessions for tests. Great instructor!
I took this class last semester online and it was very interesting and very well organized. What I liked was grades were updated very often.
Prof. Askari is a very kind lady who genuinely cares that you learn and understand her teaching. She is always extremely open to questions and very patient with us when we are confused about something, and she finds multiple ways to explain concepts. The only con is that it's only taking notes during lecture and nothing else. Otherwise great!
Dr Askari is wonderful! She teaches very effectively by always being prepared for each class session. She sets clear and fair expectations and has a positive attitude towards teaching and learning. I found her to be patient with students. Also there are MANY assessment and evaluation opportunities in her class.
Professor Askari was outstanding. very organized online course. Dates are set ahead of time and the entire class is available from the beginning of the semester! She replied to emails and answered questions and posted grades very quickly.
Honestly would not recommend unless you are an amazing test taker. I had her for lecture and you are only graded off of tests and quizzes, so there is no room for error. I would not recommend, but she is very passionate about microbiology.
Class average was in the low 70's at the end of the course. I think that speaks for itself. She is very unprofessional, she will single out students and has yelled at several classmates and I while being singled out. Feedback from other classmates that I would agree with is that she made the class much more difficult with her teaching style.
Prof. Askari is passionate and knowledgeable about microbiology, but is not a good teacher of it. Little guidance is given for tests, and study guides are useless. She asks for criticism, but is quick to get defensive/gaslight people when it takes place. I was an all A student until this class. The only thing learned in this class is helplessness.
tests do not even make sense. Average tests grades were bad. And she does not even update her PowerPoints which is useless.
If you are not passionate about microbiology do not take this prof. She is unprofessional. She tells you to read the chapters but they do not help on the test. Her review time is useless and consists of just asking what questions do you have. Will ask for feedback but gets defensive when you suggest something that goes against her teaching. RUN!
She is disrespectful to students and she asks for feedback then gets angry when the feedback is given. Her exams are written terribly and the power points she lectures from in class never matches what is posted on D2L. If you can take a different professor, do it!!
Prof. is uncaring childish and rude. I have been sick since October and couldnt make it to class for a while, there were no extensions given even though I was in the hospital! Good luck if you catch a cold, she will not care. Many times she wanted participation and had a 5 min rant, next class she is mad we are talking about what we have covered :(
Literally the worst science class I have ever taken. This class was humiliating and demoralizing. Prof. would embarrass students in front of the whole class. Your work could be perfect and she will still deduct points and provide a petty explanation. Yells at students for not understanding material. Blames students for her inability to teach.
I have never met a teacher who cares so deeply for the information that she teaches. Askari constantly asks for feedback on her teaching and listens to it. She cares for her students' success. The tests are very difficult, but if you can put in the work to study and even get tutoring if needed, you will be okay. I definitely enjoyed having her.
Professor Askari was a wonderful semester for Micro lecture and lab this semester. Although I feel that she is a tough grader on some of the homework assignments, there are only 3 assignments, so it isn't a huge impact on your grade. Exams are weighted heavily, so make sure you study in advance for those.
