Just keep up with the reading and you will do fine
Keep up with the readings and you'll be fine. An easy class to get an A if you're a good student. Dr. Mathur is very nice.
Extremely hard teacher. Have to study a lot to get a good grade.
Her class is so boring! She repeats the same material over and over again. The others are right.. u DO have to study ure ass off the get agood grade. Her tests aren't easy. The questions are all tricky and they mess you up even tho u've studied.
this teacher is all about the book. she lectures straight out of it and her tests are based on the study guide so i suggest purchasing that and studying from it. otherwise if u do the work, its an easy class and shes a nice teacher
Accent is hard to get used to. Modern and easy to get along with. Minor group work to pass time faster. I never paid attention to lectures and barely went to class anyway, but still got a B. I pulled B's and a C on her semi-easy tests and did most of the "journal" entries.
The tests are very wordy and sometimes don't make sense. Make sure you study hard. Be sure to study every detail because it will be on the test.

TV class. TV shows boring. Worst text book I have ever read: full of worthless information, very depressing/pessimistic, poorly formatted. To pass this class, you must memorize useless information from this book. Overall, difficult class and didn't learn anything of value. AVOID AVOID AVOID!
I also did well, but would not take her again. She seems like a nice person, but some midterm questions were very badly written and could be misunderstood. Final questions were much more clear. Material was directly from the book, so easy studying if you read the detail.
Mathur wasn't too bad. I hated the attendance policy, and lectures right out of the book made me want to stay home and sleep in MWF. However, she was nice and didn't waste time in class. Everything you do is a potential test question, so REMEMBER EVERYTHING AND STUDY HARD.
I was a high school student when I took her class and got an A. All you have to do is show up to class and study. She's really nice and her class is interesting.

she is alright. I got a B in the class she is boring though i mean WTF why are we in class if she is just going to read the text she doesn't explain it, i mean whats the difference if we read it at home or in class if its just going to be repeated again she is so freaking boring! Take Dr. CRAWFORD!
She is very up to date on what is happening in the media which makes her class interesting. The tests are based on the book and not her lectures. I went to every class but didn't really read the book so I didn't do great on the tests.
She was a nice teacher but didn't really explain what was going to be on the test. Everything is based on tests and people in my class had a hard time on the tests because she never tells you whats going to be on it.

Um i didnt learn anything i failed almost every test and still got a B but it was boring i wouldnt take it even if my life depended on it she only reads from the book thats it!
her class is easy. you read the assigned chapters and you'll ace the tests...they're right from the book. Midterm and final are both easy. just review lecture notes. the only thing I didn't want to do was the research paper...but its pretty straight forward.

this class was easy for me but it seems like many peaple in the class weren't doing much great. class is boring and she just tells you what's on the textbook. she has some favorite students so if you are not one of them she might be mean to you when you talk to her in person. read the book and memorize key terms then you'll ace the test though.
Dr. Mathur is a really good teacher. I found the material interesting, as well as what we discussed in class. I've heard that people say that she is a hard grader but I got an A and I didn't really think I deserved it. The only thing that I can say is to make sure you turn off your phones because she really hates when it goes off in class.

Dr. Mather is an excellent teacher whose class is very interesting. Reading is a MUST. You will fall behind very quickly if you dont keep up. Turn off your cell phones and dont use profanity. She is very proper and runs the class alike. You will have fun, dont sweat it, the material is relevant to everyday life. GREAT TEACHER!
I did all the reading and even paraphase the book into my own notes. I always asked her for help but wasn't very nice to me for some reason. I ended up with a non passing grade in her class and thought that she wasn't a great as others said.
too much reading. accent made lecutres hard to understand, but you get used to it. exams are pretty easy if you listen to her in class and read.

Dr. Mathur was pretty good for this telecourse. She's really straight-forward with her expectations and the class wasn't too hard. Make sure to read the book, because her multiple choice tests come right out of it. She seems to be lenient in grading too, cuz I don't think I had enough points for an A, but she still gave me the A. Neat!
Her class is a do it yourself course. Read the chapters and the exams will be easy. Recommended if you can study the book and pass the tests.
Hard Teacher. She never returns phone calls or emails. Her lecture is just from the book. Most teachers give you more information than what is in the book. There was no point going to class because all she did was tell us what was in the book.
I really cant decide if I like her or hate her. Her lectures and test are from the book so if you read you'll be fine. She constantly gives extra credit. She's fair but unenthusiastic.
can't say that i was a big fan. she is nice enough, but her lectures are unhelpful and i don't think i learned a thing all semester the work is fairly easy and if you study the vocab you can pass the class. basically, if you are not a self learned, stear clear
Terrible Teacher! She pretty much reads you the book for lectures. Never returns email or calls. The worst part is that she is the head of her department!
Accent gets in the way of a good class experience. Lectures are boring, but aren't they always? Tests are fair but there were always one or two questions that were worded strangely. Teaches out of the book, so if you read well, you should pass.

A lot of reading. She teaches straight from the text book and her tests are okay, but not easy. She gives a bunch of bonus points if your class is respectful. We had a really annoying, loud, rude guy in our class and she never once reprimanded him when he needed it. But over all, she is a good teacher who knows the book material extremely well.
Straight from the book but makes it really clear. Knows the material like the back of her hand. Easy-grader and nice and all around the cutest teacher I've ever had. Not an easy A so if you're looking for something to just get done, i would not reccomend
I couldnt understand her more than half the time. She teaches directly from the book. Tough class when you dont know what the teacher is saying.
Gotta love Ms. Mathur :) And her accent isn't that bad people, let's face it; it could be worse. Besides, she's hella funny and as long as you have some input on anything class material, she stays off your back. Tests are a little difficult, even if they are multiple choice, good videos shown, and extra credit helps. She'knows her stuff
If you need extra credit to help boost your grade, don't expect much help. She expects a lot for only a little credit!
Straight forward from the testbook, gotta read the book for the test, for me the first test only studied the notes, got a bad grade and after that, she'll be mean to you, so gotta be careful, she likes active and hard working students.
Wouldn't recommend her class unless your major is sociology. Too much studying, too little useful information. I hated that class.
Seriously, this professor screwed me over big time. When asked about my grade she could only respond that it's not with her. When asked about what work i'm missing, she doesn't know as long as i kept up with the work i should be fine. I took the final and ended up with a F in her class.
Nice teacher, have to attend class and tests are all from textbook. One research essay and one article presentation. But pretty easy overall.

I took the telecourse and it was an absolutely awful experience. Whole grade based on 2 tests and 22 pages of homework. I attended the mid-term review and it was a waste of time. I regret taking this class as now I will have a W on my transcript. Some might consider her accent very difficult to understand. Would not recommend under any circumstance
Shes super nice, little bit of an accent though, but easy to understand. You have to read the book, take good notes. If you study you'll do good. Medium-easy A.
Overall, the class was an easy A. That is, if you actually do the reading and studying like you should. Class attendance wasn't necessary as long as you are on task. She gives 2 tests, 1 midterm, 1 final, a class article presentation, and a research paper. Just don't slack off and you will do fine. She shows movies a lot which can be quite boring.
Get ready for a buttload of busy work, including crossword puzzles just like in 3rd grade. She is knowledgeable but not very friendly.

Research paper at end of semester, 2 tests, 1 midterm, and final. Offers extra credit (bring in cans). Watch movies during class, part of midterm and final is essay on 1 of many movies we watched.
Prof. Mathur is a good teacher. Her class is interesting and you will pass as ling as you do the reading and study before tests. She is willing to help her students. Very reasonable and friendly.
Good teacher. test are all 50 multiple choice questions. there is also one 2 minute presentation and one 5 page essay. You get full points just for doing the presentation. Take her.

Fairly simple class. I didn't really pay attention to lecture that often, not did I study for them that much and still managing to get a B. Test are straight forward though I didn't feel like we covered the material in lecture. Has an accent which is sort of hard to understand. You're supposed to do a lot of reading on your own.
Have to study and read text carefully in order to do well on tests. Pay attention during lectures and make sure to do all classwork. There are few extra credit oppurtunities, so take advantage of them.
Prof. Mathur is a little difficult to understand in class and her lectures are very boring. The material is easy but all of her tests are multiple choice. So, if you are not good a multiple choice you may end up with a B instead of the A you deserve. Other than that she is a sweet woman and means well.
Key is to buy the study guide. Even if it's an older edition to save money. Many test questions based off of it. Get an older edition book to save money too. Read book. Take Notes. Use Study Guide. Go to class once in a while if you need it. Easiest A ever if you're a half decent student. I didn't like the lectures, but others seemed to enjoy it.
Loved this class. Great Teacher! Very nice. Only take class if you actually are interested and dont mind reading about 10-15 pages every other day. Doesnt like chatty people. Had some really good discussions in her class. Not very hard. She gives you a list of the possible questions on the test, prettystraightfoward.
Professor Mathur is a really sweet person. This class is rather interesting and easy. Really, you just need to read the text or the study guide the 2 nights before the exam (read sunday and monday for tuesday's test). Tests are multiple choice and straightforward, right from the text.

This teacher is great. She answers questions and has a good spirit. I took this class in the summer and you cover a lot of material. Use the study guide and your do fine on the tests. Tests are mostly multiple choices with a few easy questions on the films. We had to do one 5-6 page essay.
Really great teacher! She is so funny! Tests are the easiest thing in the world, all you have to do is memorize the terms in the book (which isn't really much). JUST READ THE BOOK, YOU WILL DEFINITELY GET AN A!

I really enjoyed Dr Mathur's class. It is almost impossible to not get an A in her class. The expectation is clear and there are no surprises. She is also the most flexible teacher I know. She is always willing to help and do what she can to see you succeed. I highly recommend her!
Professor Mathur is SO sweet and very fair. You need to score well on her tests,tests, tests in order to do very well in the class but that being said her tests are very reasonable if you do the reading. There are no surprises and tricks, you'll get an A if you just read the text!
The class can be an easy A if you keep up with the readings and study. Her tests are easy if you read. That's pretty much all you need to do. Read read read and you'll be alright!
She sucks as teacher. If this was an online class I would of taken her online. She reads straight from the book except for one chapter (the one with sex in the chapter, he says we can read that on our own cuz she doesn't need to read that to us. She leaves class frequently during her class and exams (exams are a lot of memorizing ).
Great class. Teacher isn't really that bad but class itself is very interesting. Struggled to raised a B but you will do fine if you average C's on midterms and do notebook entry and do great on research paper. I did flash cards all semester but on the final the reading benefited me more so read!

I took all of her sociology classes and they are all structured the same. She's a personal professor and is always willing to help out her students. I learned a lot from her and would recommend her to anyone
It was a pleasure to take Professor Mathur's class. She is warm, kind, sweet, caring, and funny. There is quite a bit of reading, but as it so happens, the content is pretty interesting material. There are a fairly standard number of tests and one research paper, but you are permitted to have a decent degree of freedom in choosing the topic.

Minu is one of the coolest teachers at CSM. I had 4 classes with her as part of my sociology AA transfer. Just do the reading, the classes aren't difficult..Social problems, Marriage, and Research methods are structured the same. Tests are from the reading. Couple presentations during the semester too. Everything off the test is from lecture and the movies watched in class. Never really read the book and just paid attention and class and I regularly got better grades than my peers. One major paper due near the end of the semester. Several testsmidterms. One in-class presentation of an article. Journal due at the end of semester from in-class Q's
Dr. Mathur is a great professor. If you're not actually interested in sociology, it'll be harder because the tests are directly from the notes from lectures. Tests are pretty hard but also really straightforward. You really have to study. Lectures are engaging and she relates it to real life. One research paper, hardly any other work.
Tests come directly from the reading, just know the content and you're good. She helps make the content very digestable and easy, and she's really nice!
A lot of people struggled in this class because they got really bad grades on the tests. Honestly though I didn't think it was that hard, all you had do do was read the textbook because everything on the tests came straight out of the book.
Mathur is an elderly lady who means well, but she has been teaching for so long that she is so set in her ways. You really need to devote time to reading the chapters before the test. Everything on the test is straight from the book. The videos she shows in class are usually interesting. Also, follow her syllabus exactly and you will pass.

I asked about every week for my overall grade, and all she'll say is to calculate it yourself .Got a C on two test and a D on the other one, got a B on the research paper, and was never told my final test grade. I RECEIVED AN F in the class.

Read the book. Show up to class for attendance points but you don't have to pay attention since all her tests are based on the text. Essay portions of the tests are based on documentaries she shows in during class, which is another reason to show up because she doesn't say when she'll show a video.

If you want to have an amazing experience, take her SOCI 100 course at the same time as David Danielson's Phil 100. They play off of each other very well.
Loads of information from the textbook is required to be remembered for the test but she tests mostly on names and definitions - just a study tip. Accent is sometimes difficult to understand. Part of passing the class is very tough essay. As long as you study you should be good for tests at the least. No specific hw just entries+notes in class.
Tests are like terms and definitions , grammar does not count. But you need to be able to spit them out on paper with much detail. 3 small presentations, the final is a regular test. I really liked this class, my lackluster attendance did not affect my grade -- But I love to read and my brain is a sponge. TAKE HER IF YOU'RE A SERIOUS STUDENT
Mathur's honestly the laziest professor I've ever had.... She sits in her chair all class long and lectures without any interactions between students. You'll pass her tests as long as you read the book but honestly... she puts no effort in teaching the class at all. Take someone else if you can. She never tells you your grade either.
Great teacher. Very organized and prepared. Reading assigned each class for journal writing in the next class. One paper due late in semester. Tests were hard. Grade saved by paper, journal, and extra credit.

Shes very lecture heavy, lots of reading from the textbook and entries in class. Her tests are hard in my opinion, unless you can keep up and read and understand the textbook on your own and sit in on her lectures then this may be the class for you. Shes a great person to talk to but her teaching skills are incredibly poor.
OK it's true, she's really lazy and not that great of a teacher but she is a really nice person. If you want to do well you NEED to read the book. even if you think the topic is easy and self-explanatory, you have to read becuz she goes really in depth for her tests. the highest grades in class were Bs and maybe one person with an A. so work hard!!
Professor Mathur is informative, nice, clear and concise but all you need to do to pass the class is to read the textbook and syllabus, and attend class for 2 presentations and weekly documentaries. You can show up for the daily notebook entries for a better grade if you want. Grade consists mostly of tests and they're easy if you read the book.
Professor Minu Mathur was an okay teacher. The 4 exams are word-for-word from the textbook. There were 2 presentations: a 3-5 minute one on an online article and an 8-10 minute one using a database. Do the notebook entries because they are easy points. She gives extra credit if you donate cans for Thanksgiving. Sometimes takes attendance.
Great teacher! class is easy to follow, and doing the work is not hard at all. There are 4 tests and 2-3 class presentations. Took her intro class and her social problems class; she keeps the same format in both classes. Lectures are easy to follow, and always interesting to hear what she has to say. Read, study and listen, you'll do great.

There's no way to track your grade throughout the semester because the class isn't on canvas or webacess like all the other classes, which sucks! She's a nice professor but she isn't as organized as she could be. You take a total of 4 exams and do 3 presentations. Reading assignments are interesting but lectures can get boring.
Tough grader. I only missed one class out of the entire semester and did pretty good on the tests and essays and only missed two journal entries. Also did some extra credit. There's no way to keep track of your grade and I just didn't feel the two presentations. I thought I'd be fine and at least get a passing and then BOOM there's a flat D.
I honestly had hope for her and this class since she was so nice the first couple of days. Boy, was I wrong. I don't know why or how but for some reason I got on her "bad side" and now she insults me every chance she gets. Little jabs that make you feel so uncomfortable. Would recommend the class, but not the teacher.
I LOVE prof. Mathur. Her lectures are engaging, and fun. From my experience, she is extremely kind to her students and is flexible if you're not ready to present (she'll allow you to go on another day) Over the summer we had to present twice. I highly recommend prof Mathur.
Prof Mathur is so kind and her class is mostly lecture but its very interesting. As long as you do well on tests you'll do well in the class (just go to class and study the slides she sends out)
I enjoyed Prof Mathur's class greatly and am disappointed to have been placed in a class where not many people wanted to participate in group discussions. The topics we covered were very relevant & Prof, Mathur does a wonderful job of presenting both sides of issues . Overall, the class was great and I highly recommend it!
I took her class last summer, and it was very interesting. She really cares about her students and wants them to be aware of current events in our society. She doesn't try to trick you on the tests or assignments. So, if you read the book. you will get an A on your tests. Overall, she's a very friendly person and I recommend taking classes with her

Good professor who knows her class material and content well. Sometimes her thick accent is hard to follow but she's actually sort of funny. She takes attendance at every class, and assigns classwork so it's important to show up. Otherwise, all her material she gives to you in powerpoints to study yourself. Exams are fair and based on powerpoints.
Its super standard and her class goes exactly by the syllabus. Show up to every class because she shows videos that will be on the midterm and final and gives homework in her powerpoint. You have to do 2 presentations (worth alot) as long as you DO them you basically get full credit. Just show up pay attention and do the notebooks and youll pass.
super basic class, she sends you the powerpoints to your email and then goes over it during class. there are 2 presentations & then 3 tests (1st test, midterm, final). there's also a notebook where you have to answer questions based on readings which is pretty easy, due at the end of the semester!
you're graded on 4 tests, 4 quizzes, 2 presentations and your notebook for journal entries. It's so hard to keep track of your grade, All her lectures and power points don't help prepare you for things on the test, you need to study the textbook yourself.
Her lectures are kind of boring to be honest. They are very long and she talks so much it makes me want to go to sleep. She is a tough grader. I had to take this class twice. Don't miss the final and other important projects that count a lot of points otherwise she will give you an F even if you have a good grade in the class!.
The lectures are extremely boring and tedious. Also really hard to keep up with what your grade is. You can get a decent grade if you show up and do the work but it's definitely a struggle to get an A
You basically learn all the material yourself. She is a nice human being, but her class is chaotic. You have no idea what your grade is because she doesn't give it to you. Obviously you have to put in work, but it is better to know your grade. If you aren't a test person, do not take this class. If you are a visual learner, do not take this course.
If you do decide to take this professor, make sure your head is in the right place, make sure you read, keep up with due dates and not slack off, you'll do fine. I made the wrong choice of messing up in the beginning & middle. Like i said, she is a good option but make sure you take this class seriously.
I read every page of the given chapters, and I got an A eventually. First test and Midterm are easier than the third test and final, so be prepare for last 2. If u want to get an A, you have to read the book and take notes. Dr. Mathur provides 2 chances to earn extra credit. Just do it. You will need those extra credits, and dont forget 2 articles
I took her for intro to research methods. While i understand under the circumstances of today teaching is difficult but she made it 100% worse for her students. Provided little to no instructions and practically disappeared during shelter in place. And for all assignments trying to get feedback from her is like pulling teeth. DO NOT TAKE HER.
Professor Mathur has not been well organized with Canvas during online schooling. This is an asynchronous class. She scheduled a test on a day where we would usually not meet. I was in a class when test started and when my class finished I didnt get to finish the test. She was not empathetic at all and did not give me a chance to retake.

I took her class because sue it was supposed to meet 3 times a week, but she never had us meet once during COVID. I took this class in hopes that it would give me structure in my first semester of college, but I got the opposite.
I had her as an online class, so get ready to get money out of your pocket if you don't have these media platforms: Netflix, Amazon Prime, and Hulu. There's mainly reading off the textbook, answer video questions with the assigned group, no quizzes, just prepared for the 3 exams and final, and class dicussions.
Do every single assignment, you need to do them to pass. Group work is a must, so make sure you have a solid group. Exams are essays in which you'd be given the topics beforehand. Theres a project also. Mathur is very sweet and caring but course map was a bit confusing. Buckle down and do all work assigned and you'll be good.
This professor had terrible communication skills. The "group projects" in this class were just a way for her to grade less assignments. These projects were terribly organized, and with classes being virtual, if you had a bad group your grade in the class was ruined. 0/10 recommend this professor.
I can tell her passion is sociology, but I didn't feel connected to her class. Although it was asynchronous, her canvas page is self-guided in a way that you have to look for lectures and learning material in the modules yourself. I didn't like the way her class was formatted or organized.
I took classes both in person and online and both were painfully boring and pointless. Her lectures were basically her reading off the PowerPoint, which was just a cliff notes of the book. The tests are pretty hard in that its a lot of writing and not a lot of time. All in all the hardest part is staying engaged
She is very kind and understanding. She will let you make up assignments and tests as long as you communicate with her. Lots of reading and documentaries. She grades tough without explanation. We were put into groups from the first week which I didn't like. Be sure use the STUDY GUIDE, all test questions come from it. Due dates are sporadic.
The group projects were unnecessary for an asynchro class and very frustrating. Worst part of class If you do the work, you will do fine. Watch out for exam days and plan to read ahead of time, her lectures on chp readings are helpful. She responds but isn't rlly engaged. She seems interested in sociology so in person may be better.
it was surprisingly hard to get good grades on the timed exams because of how difficult the questions were and the amount of depth needed to accurately answer the question. reading is an integral part and could get boring even though the material is interesting. group assignments were frustrating and didn't add to learning. prof is accommodating
Her Intro class is probably her easiest class; that said it was not an easy class. It was a lot of reading, writing, and group projects. Majority of the grades come from the tests-4 which are multiple choice and based off the readings and lectures-which are really boring and mostly just her reading off slides.
Unless needed for major DO NOT TAKE THIS CLASS. Grades based mostly on 3 major tests, with a 90 min time limit- based off essay questions which she expected in depth responses to. Very hard grader on those tests. Final is based on a research project (a 12-15p paper and 9-12 min presentation), which she gave little to no info on. Gives no feedback
Technically, this course is easy. If you read all of the chapters for the exam, you will know all of the answers with very few exceptions that are in the lectures. The difficulty lies in the group projects. While they are manageable if you group doesn't participate, it is very frustrating and stressful to get work for 6+ people done.
It's a fairly easy A class. Assignments are easy and worth a lot of points. Tests are a bit cumbersome, but manageable. Group projects are, as always, dependent on your group, but in general, easy and easily graded. However, Mathur can sometimes be a bit distant, even though she's very very nice. For credit, yes, well worth it.
Most of Prof. Mathur's classes are easy As. This is not one of them. 121 is a very, very difficult, class with a whole lot of material + all kinds of assignments. The info is very useful, and it's doable, but I warn you, it is not a walk in the park. Take if you need for major.
BEWARE OF GROUP WORK. A group assignment (documentary+ 7 questions) every week and no changing groups. In my group, only two of us (of 7) contributed. Horrible. Other than that, super easy! Class was just study hall, all lectures were on canvas. 3 quizzes open book, impossible to fail. No midterm or final. Nice teacher, didn't say (or teach) much.
I took this course hybrid, and the one in person class that we had a week was just free work time. She never really discussed the topics in depth, at least not in person. Online lectures were informative. All projects are group projects, tests aren't difficult, plenty of quizlets online to help study. I never read the textbook and still got a B.
Professor puts bare minimum effort into teaching. You will essentially be teaching yourself by reading the textbook to answer prompt questions. Groups she assigns you too determines how difficult group projects are. She does provide lectures but they are not in depth enough to use alone to score well on quizzes. Wouldn't take again unless required.
She barely teaches anything. Everything is taught by the students themselves. Lots of group work, which can be very troublesome if you don't have good group members. No effective feedback. Laying out a very long paper yet giving you very limited help. Students must go to other professor who are willing to help you to help you.
Be prepared for half a dozen group projects & lazy homework assignments that don't stimulate brain function whatsoever. This professor is doing the bare minimum to be a professor and gives out way to many assignments.
Currently taking her hybrid class. One month into the semester, she hasn't taught a single thing. Everything is self taught based on her online lectures & heavy reading. You show up for her to tell you to work on what is due. Many people skip. You're assigned to one permanent group for the semester & group assignments are due every other week.
Easy class, just requires reading the textbook and participating in group projects. The lectures are a bit dry, but using Unstuck ai and other online resources makes studying a breeze. Worth taking for the easy A.
Shes so chill and really sweet. Very good with answering your questions. Barely any work in class and super easy too. Every month she has a long test but its not that hard. Shes such a nice person and has like no lectures, its practically an online course.
I took her online class and had some trouble with a group member who never replied to our emails. We told her about the situation and she replied once, but over time she ignored our emails. Overall, the material is pretty easy and grade depends on group assignments, a few exams, and a few discussions. Be prepared to watch some documentaries.
If you take this class and don't receive an A your either to busy for school or lazy. You can't fail this class only having group assignments and test. Only flaw in the class is if ur in a group and no one does their work, ur expected to do their part and they still receive credit. Thankfully I only had 1 person like that in my group.
this class only meets once a week so there isn't a lot to do for this class. the main things that suck about it is the group work because you have to rely on other people for your grade and sometimes, we get an okay grade for groupwork. the groupwork is just watching a video and answering 4-8 questions based on it. a lot of people end up dropping.
I really enjoyed this class. Her lectures were interesting. There were group assignments throughout but they were really easy and fun. I took a shorter version of the class so there was a lot of reading but it was all very interesting and manageable. There were 3 midterms and a final exam and she offers makeup exams as well. I def reccomend her!
this class is really easy as long as you get a good group for group projects. I was lucky enough to have people who did their work but some are less fortunate. The class consists of mostly group assignments, a few discussions, and 4 exams. Would suggest taking if you just need the credit
I took online class and enjoyed it. Professor Mathur created comfortable atmosphere. Clear rules, exciting tasks, achievable deadlines. I recommend!
This class was very clear cut and had all material in canvas set up well. However, the once a week meetings were not utilized as teaching hours but more study hall. Take the fully asych classes, there was no point in showing up to class. The class is also heavy on group projects so pray you get good ppl bcuz i did not and they had me stressin :(
I'm taking this class hybrid but you don't have to show up to class because most of the in person class is "Study hall" time. She assigns you a randomized group for the whole semester to do group assignments in. If you get a bad group you'll be stuck with either a bad grade or stuck doing all the answers yourself. Its pretty easy besides that.
She was pretty straightforward with the class, but if you make any minor errors on the group assignments, she will deduct a significant portion of the grade. Also, she's not very flexible. I forgot to write my name at the top of the group project before one of my classmates submitted it, and she gave me a zero even after I tried to explain myself.
The professor put everyone into groups in the beginning of the semester and did very little interaction with the classMost of the classwork is watching documentaries, most of which is clearly propaganda. I have learned almost nothing about sociology since we are watching celebrity vanity projects. Deeply unserious and a waste of time.
Professor Mathur was great, class was set up easy on canvas. We were assigned one group for the whole semester and fortunately mine was great. She does deduct points for little things so I'd say watch out for that. But I learned a lot.
I previously took SOCI 100 with her, and she was very supportive and always willing to help students. Her classes were fun and easy to follow. I definitely recommend taking her course. One important note: in group assignments, if your group isn't good, it can be a bit frustrating and you may have to deal with some annoying classmates.
