She has very strong accent. First day, she was late for 15min and she was angry about the students who were late. Kinds of mean person. I don't recommand.
shes really mean, cant understand the way she teaches. she talks really fast and her accent makes it hard to understand. make sure you to micro before taking her macroeconomics class or else youll be lost. i had to drop when she said she wanted a 7 page paper with no double space, a midterm and a quiz all in the same week
the person below doesn't know what he is speaking about, looks as is angry and knows nothing. She is great, teaches really well, and knows her staff. Nice and funny! Strongly recommend.
Great Professor!
VERY Heavy On the accent! It's HARD to understand wat she's sayin. she's very disorganize w/ her teachin, makes it hard to follow. She assigned 8-9 page paper (1.5 spacing)& project wen it wasn't on the syllabus & it's only worth less than 10% combined! she gives a review of the exam but will only accept answers that are similars to hers. dont take
Very unfair grader
Dont listen to crazy people. I like, you'll like her too. She knows her staff, fair to students.Take the class, enjoy!
YES SHE HAS AN ACCENT, YES SHE ASSIGNS A PAPER NOT WORTH MUCH WITH A QUIZ AND MIDTERM DUE SAME WEEK BUT IT WAS A SUMMER CLASS SO U HAVE TO EXPECT THAT. SHE MAKES ECO FUN AND IS A GREAT TEACHER. TAKE GOOD NOTES AND YOU WILL BE FINE. DONT EVEN BOTHER BUYING THE BOOK. OK SHES A LIL STRANGE BUT NO ONE IS PERFECT! REALLY EASY A!
Unfair to students. Not clear on any assignments and will give you a low grade even though its her fault she doesn't explain clearly. Be cautious if taking her.
Very nice and fair, good with lectures. Study with her notes, you will be OK. Knows her stuff. No problems to get a good grade!
really bad professor,, you can get good grade in first exam which based on notes, but final exam is really hard. She just tell you to study note, but none of the final question is from notes. The most stupid professor I've ever met
She is really good! I didn't have problems with a grade, all my friends either. Great lectures, so do study, get notes, take an A. Great class, fun and easy!
This professor is highly disorganized. She is always late, doesn't know how to explain anything and honestly I don't know why Baruch hires professors with such poor teaching skills. She might know the subject she's teaching but she has no idea how to explain it nor teach it. I don't recommend save yourself the headache and unecessary stress.
She IS Good! The guy is in the bad mood - I got it.Just don't make everyone around crazy. She is the best teacher i had here for all classes in economics. Actually I wanted to make my own comments and found that crazy one below. Don't like - too bad. Just don't give advice to the others. Good Professor and is blessed for teaching!!!
She's a good teacher, pretty funny too. Don't bother buying the textbook i did really well and didn't even have one... just pay attention and take good notes and you will get an A.
She is not a good teacher, she doesn't clearly answer any of the questions. She takes points off questions for no reason. She even forgot to answer some of my questions on the midterm and was rude to me when I called her out on it...she said she had a lot of students and has a lot of things to do, also she shows up about 30 minutes late.
She may be confusing. Doesn't always explain clearly, but you can get the main point. Was about 15 minutes late for every class. Shouldn't be your first choice but overall she's ok.
She is VERY GOOD! i love the way she teaches. she answers clearly the questions, and is VERY helpful! If you study, no questions, youll get an A. And she is funny and engaging too!
A good prof! She knows her material, doesnt take attendance and explains everything with clarity. Come to the lectures, you can enjoy and will be better prepared for the exams. She is nice and attentive to her students!
Well, Tsymuk is an intelligent professor who usually is late for class and can be mean to her students. If you want to get an A in her class then just learn her notes, textbook is not even required!!Only her notes appear on the exams and quizzes. Also be prepared for each class in advance - she picks on students. Good Luck
She is a nice professor, intelligent and funny, gives a good background for senior level courses. All questions during exams are based on her lectures. Overall Id recommend her!
heavy accent. picks on people. crazy homework. tests are hard like hell. the bad part is it's either her or some other loser teacher for this class. i hate her, but better for one to pick her than the other loser.

Don't hate, take the class, get a good grade! I'd take her for the other class too. Tests are fine, many As.SHE is GOOD!
It's a nice class. Not easy, but a good one. You can get an A, and lectures are GOOD enough. If you major in Economics, take her by all means! You'll get a lot!
Great Prof, nice and funny. She is the best for this class. Pretty hard, but we in group have all good grades. Have fun, take her, she is tough at the beginning, but more relaxing at the end!
I like her! Not easy, but nice and funny. She makes the class interesting. You'll also like her: Enjoy, take the final, get a good grade!
Professor requires students to participate to gauge the understanding of the material. Often, she "grills" to student with questions to test how well the student know his or her material. Overall, her exams test the material covered in her lectures and the book. Stimulates problem solving skills and requires applications of graphical skills.
Highly recommended. Was late to class roughly 10 minutes everyday. 2 quizzes, 1 mid-term, 1 final, 1 or 2 homework and 1 extra credit project worth 3 points on your overall grade. She explains the material in depth and her randomly picking people to answer forces you to be prepared. Talking in class really bothers her so don't.
Excellent professor! She explains everything extremely clearly that by the time the midterm and final come around you know the information really well. You will do well if you pay attention and class and review for the exams. Final was worth 45% of the grade so don't slack off after the midterm.
She explains everything in details, but you have to work. Lectures are nice and easy, I actually enjoy. I'd recommend her, she's one of the best from my professors. She is funny & engaging!
Doesn't seem like she really cares. Her papers worth 1-2% (15 pages) Discourages learning by picking and belittling students; expects quality papers, but probably doesn't even read them. If you think about it our midterms aren't graded, what makes you think she can read the papers? have no respect for her bc she can't even respect students
strolls in late with her coffee, picks and belittles students half the class instead of explaining clearly the material. not until the last 20-30mins of class she starts throwing concepts at you. 1-2% 15 page paper, doesn't grade fairly. (one person had the same answers as another, yet one got full score and the other did not)
someone has been deleting comments, you sneaky little :) you!
Can see, guys, don't have good grades? I'm happy in her class! Good lectures, clear explanation. I'd take her once more, no questions!
Nice style. Good professor. I like her. No need for the textbook, and you'll understand the econ. Take her!
The students that are saying she is a bad teacher or grader are just bad students. I got an A and I didn't even do the paper. Her exam questions are straight forward questions, nothing tricky at all. I wish she was teaching inter macro or adv macro so I can take her again.
Good Professor, has her own style of teaching: no powerpoint, no textbook use, just notes. You have to take good notes and memorize them for her essay-style quizes. However FInal was hard, as the M/C question were out of nowhere. She didn't give any practice exams, so it was a surprise. However, it is recommended to research her topics online or re

However FInal was hard, as the M/C question were out of nowhere. She didn't give any practice exams, so it was a surprise. The professor is nice overall. The book is useless, don't buy it
She is a great professor. The question is, are you a good student? Study her notes, and listen to everything she says. She reviews material from previous class, so there's no way you can forget everything because she picks on you randomly. Don't need txtbk, she knows it cover to cover anyway! The paper is unnecessary, its only 4 points!
Useless professor. If you like ambiguity and not knowing exactly what is happening in class then take her. She's really sloppy, comes in late all the time, doesnt even bother to set up a blackboard. Doesn't seem like she cares about her student's either. Refuses to talk about modern economic issues, which makes her classes even more useless.
Don't know what's wrong with that student. She's absolutely great!I'd take her by all means. Tried to register for her next class, in two days - no seats.Give it a shot yourself, you'd enjoy!
Late for class at least 15min every single day. What she taught was nonsense and useless. Using more than half of class to ask students what she never talk about in class. Dont be fooled so called honor class, basically learned noting from her. The exams are hard she will test you something you didn't heard about in class. My 4.0 was ruined by her
Just the opposite: love the class, she really teaches the class. feel sorry for the guy... I'll take her once more; would strongly recommend this prof!
I cannot see how anyone can say that this is a good professor. She comes late every time; she wastes half the class asking questions that we never covered; she barely teaches anything and what she does teach is barely comprehensible; her tests are extremely difficult and don't reflect anything that she went over in class. Good prof?
We'd an exam last class, not a hard one, but this student had a bad grade clearly. Not true: she explains everything clearly, no one's problem you don't get it. This's my second class with her: I love her. great prof!
She is just ok.Always late, extremely disorganized.Exams are not that hard, she is just annoying with her constant lateness
Took this class in SSII. We spent 3 weeks on preparation for the midterm. And had 1 week to take final and submit 12 page paper(which she did not read and arbitrarily assigned more or less good grades to). Shes very nice and funny, but not available at office hours.
Explains well but tests cover everything from the book not based on lectures. Took SII ? midterm was given after deadline to drop class & some people received below 30 (too late to do anything). I assume they failed. Picks favorites and ignores others. Grading unpredictable, you get what she thinks you deserve no matter how well you do on the tests
She tells us to buy txbk, but doesn't use it. Suggests us to buy another one instead. A useless paper (you get a very nice if there are color pictures and a nice if no color pictures.) What's difficult about her is that her understanding of economics / her way of teaching is complicated in the eyes of students who are just there to finish pre-reqs.
Hey, she's really good if you aren't just for pre-reqs. She Teaches! & as not everyone can... At least now i know smth. I like her!
She is great! She is a real teacher, not a book worm. I like her way of teaching - especially random questions in regard to what has been covered and assigned for HW. If you want to know something about ECO definitely take her and you will not regret. A book she suggested was not helpful at all, however, it might only my personal opinion. The best!
She is an amazing professor. She has a world of knowledge that she is willing to share and teaches in a way that actually keeps you awake in class and helps you learn. She is great to go to for advice, as she as a lot of experience. Most importantly, she is willing to help you and genuinely loves teaching. Take notes and you won't regret taking her
DON'T TAKE THIS CLASS !! [All of these good comments were written by her] (1) This professor comes 20-40 min late every class (2)She is very unorganized and confuses students with unrelated material that was never in the book (3) When it comes to exams she is always lying, she said that she will give us 23 question but gave 46. Please Don't Take !!
I defintly agree with the Last comment. HER FINAL EXAM IS 50% OF THE CLASS AND It IS REALLY TRICKY. She doesnt care about HER students. She gives questiones that were never discussed in the class or in the textbook. The class is not Hard, but this professor made it complicated. Will destroy your GPA (AVOID HER). WORST PROFESSOR AT BARUCH
I like her lectures (1),will take another class with her (2). AND IF YOU DON'T LIKE THE CLASS - DROP IT:AS EASY AS IT IS. I loved the class,my friends also did. She is good, one of my best Prof at Baruch!
Prof. comes in late 10-20 mins everyday - Picks on students to answer questions on topics that she did not teach yet & does not reply to emails. Exams are tricky b/c of her wordings. Assigns papers that she never gives back, and when you emailed her regarding your grade for the papers, she does not reply back! Take her when you have no other choice
Wow. This professor is one of a kind. She taught me how to be unorganized and unprofessional. During her breaks rather than staying in class to speak to students, she changes her shoes and listens to her ipod. She doesn't hand back exams in a timely manner and only responds to emails after the third time. And her grammar/spelling is horrible.
Consider this the most objective opinion of professor Tsymuk and disregard others. She provides fantastic explanations of topics for ppl who have never taken Macro. She's late to classes and leaves for 30 mins instead of 15 during breaks, but those are just bad habits. Focus in class, read at home and ask questions when confused. You'll do great.
Pretty good, just take notes well and read textbook and you'll be sure to get an A, not hard class at all! multiple choice for final was a little tricky though but just make sure you go over her notes and read textbook and you'll do fine. she does get a little scary because she asks people questions randomly and "grills" you
Professor Tsymuk is one of the worst professors I've taken at Baruch. I've taken over 25 courses at Baruch, so I know about the poor quality of professors that this school offers. But hey, it's free. She came 20 min late to EVERY class, took 20 minute breaks during, and left early. Expects student to understand concepts that she doesnt teach. POOR!
Asks questions about material she has never taught before. If she likes you, great. If she doesn't, then expect to be picked on and condescended when you answer wrong. There is no specific grading criteria for exams. You can answer a question with the same answer as your classmate and you will both receive different grades. Unfair and unorganized.
Fine so far. Midterm was clear, don't know the grade yet. I enjoy the style, approach to students. Would love to have more office hours, so if she'll do what she promised, glad that took her for Macro. I would recommend
This Professor is quite inspiring, knows the jobs outside of class, can help in the future with references. Grades are pretty fair, course needs attention as the course core goes to the final. Makes it Interesting & quite Exciting! I would recommend & take other courses with her
Do not take her for the honors macro class. She expects students to know material that she has not taught, and her grading system is extremely unclear and vague. She grades students based on how well she likes them, and so does not grade everyone the same way. I have sat in on regular macro classes at baruch and they teach much better than this.
Worst professor ever. Not worth the honors credit. Needs to be investigated by the department. If you guys really care about analytical economics, I suggest taking another professor. She doesn't teach, so it is an easy class. This is a class for you if you want to get through this as a pre-req and not care. Disgrace to the subject. Switch out asap.
Very, VERY disorganized. Her lessons are incoherent and leave you with more questions than answers. Just reading the textbook won't help you pass, since half of the material she covers isn't even FOUND in the book. Spends nearly half the class period calling on students whom she thinks aren't paying attention. Take at your own risk.
She genuinely is passionate about the subject she teaches, but she has the worst teaching technique and style of any professor I have ever had of my four years at Baruch. She would rather ask the same question over and over again to 10 different students for fifteen minutes while getting clueless looks as a response instead of teaching the answer.
She is the best thing that happened to me so far at Baruch: nice, easy to speak to, knows economics as she was born with it. Love the style, would take again, no questions. Love her!
Took the Honors class because i needed it for my future courses, am truly pleased with the professor. Very nice, responsive, never is angry at a student. Lectures are interesting and clear, all most recent info is there, makes it engaging & exciting to study with her. Love the class & the prof!
Hey: truly liked the class, interesting, not boaring as my previous micro class. need to study, but it all makes sense: lectures are easy to get through, and exams are based on what she explained in class. So take it easy, make it easy and get an A! will take her for intermediate! highly recommend
She knows the material, but she is very in-compassionate. Unnecessarily strict and mean, especially for an intro course. Maintains an air of haughtiness. Tells the students it is okay to ask questions but reprimands the student for asking what she perceives as dumb questions. She is a virago . Do not take.
She is a very smart professor. She has a thick accent that can be difficult to understand and she is sometimes rude, but if you want to learn economics, take her class. Very happy I chose her class
Extremely unprofessional. Late to every single class by atleast 10 minutes. Goes thru 1-2 definitions in one lecture by going around asking every student what the definition is. The professor is a waste of money. She is a sweet woman, however terrible professor unwilling to help or meet for office hours. Very strange. Save your time and GPA. Avoid!
She is not that bad, do your job and you'll pass
Worst professor I have taken. Extremely disorganized and disrespectful to all students. Shows up to class late every day with no lesson planned whatsoever. Learned nothing from her class, memorized material just to pass the course. Tests will confuse you. Short response/ essay questions. Will grade you on a personal criteria. ADVICE: Do not take!!
Late to almost every class and will call on every student in the class to answer a question if nobody knows the answer. The questions she asks in class often require a deeper understanding than the homework and is sometimes outright unrelated. Also might take extremely long breaks i.e she once gave the class a 15 minute break and came back after 50
Awful professor! Stay away from her. She doesn't know how to teach and she calls on random people in class to explain things she never discussed. No one ever knows what she's teaching. We never used the textbook and she only teaches definitions but the final was 95% math, which she barely did. She's the worst. No organization and no help.
She teaches everything to her personal criteria and the tests consists of short answer. I think the grading is very fair and easy to get what you deserve since there is a lot of partial credit to be given. The final had a HUGE curve, changing a majority of class from F grades to C grades which I thought was pretty undeserving. Mainly SELF-STUDY
This is a hard class to judge. She teaches what she wants, and doesnt do the best job explaining some things. However, she is caring if you come to office hours, and she is a VERY fair grader with VERY fair tests. Was a little annoyed however, since we didn't receive a grade breakdown, only our final grade with no explanation on our transcript.
If you need honors classes, take her. She'll assign the most random homework. Just make sure you keep it bc after a month of doing it and discussing your research in class, shell ask for an electronic copy. She'll call on you randomly to see if you did the hw. 25 page paper for final project - 2 ppl w ppt presentation. Fair but annoying class.
Horrible professor has poor teaching skills. No formal lessons just speaks whatever comes to her head. Shows up late to every class by 15 minutes and doesn't respond to emails well. She has a very bad attitude and impossible to talk to after class. Save your time and energy and take a class where you can actually learn.
Stop cursing, listen here She's great speaking about staff outside of the class, interesting facts & lectures, not bad grader. Always reachable after lectures, truly like her. Recommended!
If you like thought provoking, fast paced and worldly relatable lectures, you will enjoy her class. She is a genius with Macro. She calls on students so either prepare before hand or be smart and quick on your feet.
Came into class without a lesson plan and would pick randomly on students to talk about the topic. Everyone's notes are very random. No clear syllabus describing what we were learning. Grading on tests/paper is very unclear. Pointless presentation that took up lots of class time. Usually late, even for FINAL, which had things we NEVER discussed.
She is awesome! We love her, and will take her again in Spring. MindTap drives crazy cha, but it's good for exam Good grader, two quizzes, 4 homeworks & fair final grading. Best!
She taught us things that is very useful in real life. From her class I learned to prepare beforehand and to study strategically. I enrolled in her macroeconomcis class semester. She really cares about us and is a fair grader Economics is never an easy class, you get what you deserve. Don't ever think you can get an A in this class without effort.
I had a 4.0 before this class. Trust me don't take it, she can't teach to save her life. Her grading is super subjective and we barely learned anything on the final, take literally anyone else.
Do not take her!! She is so disorganized in her teaching plans and everything that she does. Her tests and quizzes are no way related to the final, so if you want to pass the final then you need to read the textbook and outline it and do the questions on the back. If you are taking her, then I wish you luck because you are going to need it.
Don't take her at any costs. She is the worst professor I've had at Baruch. Went to her multiple times about grading and she never had an answer for why she would take off massive amounts of points. AVOID AVOID AVOID
Rating below is the fun staff, just don't lie. I took her last semester and this one, with my friends; would take for more classes either. Grades are fair. Tsymuk knows a lot about other economies, learning possibilities, job search; highly inspirational & supportive! HIGHLY RECOMMEND
Good professor, fair grades, always reachable outside of class.
test on her, mid and final(accumulative) that's the only she focuses most no make-ups, extra credits wouldn't work even if she says so. She cares about her reputation(if you took her class you must now everything) more than students (she might give the impression of caring but at the end, she will grade what exactly you know). the book is useless,
Everyone has to participate as she goes around the whole class one by one. There are papers due that are research base heavy outside of the $200 textbook. Write down notes as she speaks for she teaches more verbally (not much writing on the board). She's knowledgeable in economics and encourages learning of how it applies to the real world.
Don't take her... beware Some points to note: 1) Midterm and final were nothing like what she taught. Spent majority of class going over presentations instead of reviewing. Barely one day of review 2) Unclear grading 3) Known to embarrass student in class 4) ALWAYS 20-30 minutes late, at the least 5) 15-20 page term paper on a random subject
Dr. Tysmuk is an inspirational professor. This is a class for students who are willing to go the extra mile to do well in class and learn macroeconomics. This is an honor college course, therefore, it is not suppose to be the easiest of class. Excellent professor that respects her students and encourages them to think with their brain!
Shes something else. Wastes time with class presentations, doesnt have a formal teaching plan, puts questions on midterm and final that were never fully discussed in class. Easy if you self study and teach yourself all the material. Very low effort class besides the 15 page term paper and 15 min presentation. Wouldnt do it again.
No clear grading criteria for anything For tests gives a list of topics that she never taught in class & start studying well in advance in order to pass these tests. Will take off 20 points if you don't put graphs in your paper and tests. 25 page paper+30 mins presentation. 1 midterm 1 final 1 quiz. come prepared or will be embarrassed publicly
come to class with prior knowledge about your topic or you will be publicly humiliated! comes to class 15-20 minutes late. does not teach in class and picks on students to teach the required topics. does not tell u of clear grading criteria for tests, papers. tests are very paragraph style, gives a topic list filled with things she never taught
The best professor in the past two years. She is very knowledgeable and makes the lectures interesting. She has a great way of teaching and her class was the only one that went by so fast, I didn't even realize the time. I would definitely recommend her to everyone. She really cares about her students and will go out of her way to help you if need
TERRIBLE. only prof ive ever felt the need to review. I am a smart person, but she literally makes it impossible to get an A. dont take her unless you want to lower your GPA
She really cares for her students and curves your grade a lot. She's not very strict, just expects you to do the work. However, there is no clear grading criteria and lectures are all over the place. I still think her personality makes up for it.
SHE DOES NOT KNOW ECONOMICS AT ALL.... AFTER THE CLASS I THOUGHT WHATEVER MACRO I KNEW .... KNOW I JUST DON'T KNOW.... AVOID HER AT ALL COST.....
Literally the worst professor I have ever had in my life. She comes 20 minutes late but literally takes your name down to knock your grade down if you're a minute late. No lesson plan she just spouts off her brain and publicly humiliates students who don't know material she hasn't yet taught. Lectures have nothing to do with tests No grade criteria
