I chose to attend this class online as it works better in my schedule that way, and I have yet to attend a lecture where the class didn't have issues, whereas the microphone doesn't work, the video and chalkboard is so blurry that you cant read anything, etc. Avoid him if you're taking the class online or struggle to read from afar. Hard exams
I took MAT397 online due to covid. He's an experienced teacher but his video image was so blurry that the only thing you can see clearly is the graph. Hard exams and tons of hw. Hardest class I've ever took in SU. If you take his course online, get ready to self-learn the rest of the semester.
You have to be dedicated. He wants you to understand the material very well that the exams might not look the same as what you did in class, overall he is a good professor and wants you to succeed.
no one really likes math a whole lot, but this guy made me hate it. the dude really can't teach for the life of him, so the TA is gonna be your best friend in this class. tests are pretty hard. there's always a question or two that are just impossible to answer, so he curves 10-20 points each test. good luck passing the class without khan academy.
I very much enjoyed my time as a student in Pitici's class. He has pretty high expectations coming in, but if you are prepared, and pay attention in lectures you will do well. Curves well on exams, and just an all around great guy. Also has a fantastic Romanian accent.
He really enjoys the material he's teaching making it much easier to learn. He's dedicated and goes very in depth into each topic. In Calc 3 it's hard to visualize what's going on because it's a whole different kind of thinking but he provides great visuals to help. This class moves fast so as long as you don't skip class you'll do well.
While Prof. Pitici's lectures are dense with material, his ability to connect previous math classes and explain/visualize the concepts is amazing. I would advise attending all of the lectures and keeping up with the WAs or you will fall behind quick. Yes this class is hard but if you pay attention and keep up, you should be fine.
This was my second semester with Professor Pitici. Very passionate about math, his lectures are engaging and relatively easy to follow. Likes to connect previous concepts to the current material which I found pretty helpful and interesting. His exams are more difficult than average but they are still very fair. Overall, a great professor.
I wish I had him for previous calculus courses - Prof. Pitici is truly passionate about the material he teaches and is genuinely interested in making sure his students understand the material by connecting it to previous topics and real-world applications. His exams are on the tougher side, but he grades fairly. Tips: Pay attention and participate!
Given the 6 week time crunch, teaching this class was incredibly tricky. However, he did not stray from the beaten path and was able to cover all the material efficiently. Once I started to pick up the pace of the course, I found myself understanding the material at a quicker rate than I had ever before, and I have the professor to thank for that.
I was taking his class twice time! Professor is very smart and very logically to do any problems. I believe he has strong math knowledge! He explained material well, its hard class but dont worry. Doing homework paying attention with professor, review material. Exam is hard, but professor is nice, he will see how class doing and then boost grade.
I took Professor Pitici class over the summer for MAT 397. He taught the course very well and kept students engaged throughout the class. His tests are tough but I thought he did a great job of explaining the material. Would recommend his class.
Very intelligent and has good lectures, though tests are very difficult. Had to curve extremely hard to have a majority of the class pass. Moves extremely fast and refuses to review prior to exams or go over quizzes.
Professor Pitici incorporates humor in his lectures, he is good at breaking complex problems down into more understandable pieces and illustrates them, he also cares about his students a lot. He is willing to leverage his resources and help his students inside and outside of his classes.
An excellent professor, a professor that my friend and I keep recommending to the lowerclassmen. His lectures piqued my interests in math. His Calc 3 class was not super easy, but as long as you go to the office hour frequent enough to clear out all your questions, this course will build a solid foundation for all the higher level math courses.
I really didnt like Prof Pitici. I thought he was a really smart guy who knew his stuff but he constantly scared students into never asking questions. 25% of the class passed the first exam because it was so hard and his lecture moved so fast nobody knew what was going on. Constantly a disconnect with the TA as well.
The smartest person Ive ever come across in my life. He teaches tough courses so the curriculum will be tough, but if you stay with him he will teach you everything you need to know. Best advice is to not fall behind, show up to class, and listen when he teaches.
I loved Pitici, he really knows how to teach these things and he is also very friendly which is very rare for math professors. His lectures are some of the most interesting ones , his exams are hard. But to all the people that are taking this course if you didnt do well on calc1 and calc2 then you wont do well here.
Pro. MP is a nice and smart guy, and know what he is doing. He always gave high quality lectures. Even the class itself is a bit difficult but doable, if you willing to spend a little time outside the class to consolidate what you have learn in class, youll do well. Definitely try his class! I had a really great semester, and great to know him.
Ive never had a math instructor that understands the course content more than Professor Pitici. If you work a good amount outside of class you will get a good grade. I do not recommend skipping class either as that will set you back. Pitici is a great teacher and I learned a lot when I took his course.
Calc 3 has definitely been the hardest math class I have had to take and I couldn't imagine having to get through it with another professor. You could tell Professor Pitici is passionate about teaching and actually helping his students understand. His examples and method to connect lectures really helps with understanding the difficult material.
He is a good math teacher and would curve your exam grade to enable you to earn a great total score. He is a very kind professor and is willing to offer your help.
Breaks down concepts very well. Does lots of examples in class. Do the homework, and take notes, and youll pass.
Pitici is great. Calc 3 is a hard course and he know that, so he is very direct with his teaching style. There is no way to work around the content in this course; the best way is to dive straight into it. Pitici does this very well. Going to class, paying attention, and taking good notes on the example problems is the best way to pass this class.
This class is lecture based, and if you don't pay attention to the lectures, as well as do extra work outside of class, you will not do great in Pitici's class. However, if you put in the work, it is possible to do really good.
Although this course was quite difficult professor Pitici is an ideal instructor that has an incredibly in depth understanding of the course concepts. He was also very forgiving in terms of grading. I will say get ready to look at calculus in a whole new way. This class was a hard one but if you put the work in you will be rewarded.
Pitici was a very passionate teacher and clearly loved math, but his class was occasionally a bit too fast and questions werent always received well. Quizzes were never hard but studying was really necessary for the exams, and even though he doesnt take attendance GO TO CLASS! Its doable if you put the time and effort in.
Professor was enthusiastic and encouraged participation, made it easy to follow along despite fast course pacing.
Pitici is very passionate about teaching, making learning difficult topics much easier. He tries very hard to make his notes easy to follow and if you pay attention in class and study for exams you should be good!
He's a very knowledgeable man but not terribly compassionate. He has a sense of humor and teaches fairly well in lecture though he does not respond to questions well. Not to mention his exams are incredibly difficult I wouldn't be surprised if the math department told him to dial it back. Overall, would not take again if I had the choice.
The lecture was amazing! Just attend every class and you should be fine. Also the tests are a bit hard, but you will have chance for correction and get half of lost credit back.
Lectures are good but can move quickly at times. As long as you make it to every lecture and are attentive you will do fine in the class. He allows for corrections on midterms which can be helpful.
Professor Pitici is pretty good. He teaches a hard class and does his best to make sure his students understand what's going on. Your grade is almost entirely dependent on tests and quizzes. The class lacks a lot of conceptual depth, but if you follow the examples in class then you should be okay.
This class is very hard and quickly paced, but there are lots of opportunities to learn the material well. The exams were difficult but Professor Pitici allows students to do test corrections which can profoundly increase your grade. Class is also not mandatory but I highly recommend attending. If you have to take MAT397 I recommend this teacher.
A lot of student don't do well in this class because they don't understand how to learn math. You can't learn this course well by just taking notes. Professor Pitici is a very good professor. He likes to use various props to present the 3D images in the topic for his students, which makes it easy for me to think in three-dimensions way.
Calc III certainly isn't an easy course, but Dr.Pitici gives you the tools necessary to succeed. His lectures were always informative and he made his expectations for the course clear. He made an effort to tie in material to previous calculus courses, which made more complicated topics easier to understand.
Pitici is one of the best math professors at SU. Attendance is the best way to learn the material because they are engaging. I have yet to open the textbook from the class because he explained all the concepts very clearly. There are quizzes weekly and the exams should be no surprise if you study. MAT397 is a tough course so dont fall behind!
Professor Pitici is passionate about the courses he teaches and will keep his students engaged. He also displays a great understanding of the course content.
The content in lectures goes by quick but is covered in enough detail. Professor Pitici knows the content inside and out. As long as you take adequate notes in class, the quizzes and exams are fair.
Attendance isn't technically mandatory, but you really need to attend lectures if you want to understand the material for the exams. He's tough, but fair, and I really think I learned more because of the way he ran class and how effective his lectures were.
Took the class over the summer. Pretty intense as the entire course is compressed into 6 weeks. But as long as you pay attention in class and put an hour or two outside of class every day, an A is easily achievable.
Class is very notes intensive, so you better not miss any of them, even attendance is not mandatory. The exam contains all the materials from class notes, HWs, and quizzes. Difficult, but fair. Dr. Pitici has a sense of humor and is easy to communicate even though his teaching a very hard class.
He is an excellent and experienced professor. He can vividly display three-dimensional images, so students generally understand the concepts more easily. At the same time, he is a very responsible teacher. He has a research project while teaching, but he is still willing to help me write the recommendation letter even though he is so busy
Dr. Pitici's class has been set up as very lecture focus. So make sure you go to classes and take good notes. Rest is easy.
he's a really good guy and a pretty good teacher. the only negative on him would have to be that he sometimes moves too quickly when going over a problem. overall, calc 3 is really hard but he teaches it well and tries to understand his students
knowledgable teacher and have a good clue on lecture, if you go to class and finish homework, you will get A, exams are all same quetions as homework
Knowledgable teacher in culculus class, his class is very organized and clear, you will get A if you practise in homework and the exam is all about homework.
Great teacher who admires students who work hard and genuinely nice guy. As long as you understand the homework, you'll be good for exams.
He is an amazing professor. He is passionate about teaching mathematics. In class, he will connect new knowledge with previously learned knowledge, making difficult things easy. 397 is not really easy, but if you attend the class, you will not find it difficult to get A. I would highly recommend him if you need to take mat 397.
I would take his MAT295 course again.
Comprehensive and good lectures with lots of examples. Tests are hard, however curve and grading is generous.
Pitici is a good instructor who can teach you a lot if you pay attention to lectures.
I had him for calc 284 this year and it was pretty obvious that he had never taught the course before. Compared to the other calc 284 professors he is the best choice. His lectures are pretty much useless, but you can pass if you get extra help at the clinic or with your TA.
Prof. Pitici is very knowledgeable in Calculus 3; he enjoys the subject material and it shows in lecture. The class itself is quite difficult in the beginning, but in my opinion gets easier as time goes on. Classes are pretty heavy lecture wise; there is so much material. Tests are hard, but if you hang in there, the final will be easy for you.
Professor Pitici was really good at helping students visualize complex topics in 3D space. He is extremely dedicated to teaching and passionate about the topics at hand. It was a tough course, but attending all the lectures allowed me to have a pretty good grasp of the content for the exams.
Prof. Pitici taught very great lectures. He managed to extend the math content into the application of real-world examples. His teaching style is also very attractive and inspirational. One of the best math professors I have ever met.
Professor Pitici is intelligent and experienced. He provides his own profound explanation to the obscure Cal 3 knowledge. And he extends some mathematic knowledge to the real life, which is meaningful and attractive. I have to say his exam is harder but it does have low question grades drop.
Attendance was not necessary, but I learned the most from them. He is great at making visual explanations, he has a lot of background knowledge, which help him provide real life applications, keep the class engaged, making the lectures helpful and clear. He is one of the best professors I have had and I strongly recommend taking any classes with him.
Dr. Pitici truly has a passion for math that is visible in his teachings. His lectures are intense but not tedious, as he has such a humorous and sassy way of speech. I suggest showing up to every class because if you miss one, there's a good chance you will be confused the next. We always move at a diligent pace and no class time is ever wasted.
Dr. Pitici is very smart and enjoys explaining his knowledge to the class. The lectures move fast, but if you focus and take notes through them, you will do fine. Don't be afraid to ask questions, he is happy to explain anything to you that you do not understand.
Great professor. Need to show up to class to understand what is going on. Not graded on much, just homework quizzes and exams. Lenient with grading.
Important to go to lectures and take great notes. Luckily, notes are written out on the board while teaching, so it's easy to follow along. Generous grading on exams and not many of them. Homework deadlines were fair and easy to meet. Difficulty in course was mostly because of material taught, and not necessarily because of lack of teaching skill.
I've had this professor twice and he has been amazing. I really appreciated his teaching style, keeping it efficient and checking to make sure the class is caught up kept me involved and engaged. The course really changed my perspective on academics, turning me into a more driven student and I really can't thank you enough for this year. He's great
He cares about his students. Just take notes during the lectures and you will be fine. He clearly outlines what is going to be on the exams.
Dr. Pitici is an amazing teacher. Not only was he a very fair grader but he urges participation from the students, making sure each one is well versed in the topic. I urge to take his class.
Pitici is a great professor, and the exams and quizzes aren't too hard if you study hard! The exams are pretty much the same as the lecture examples.
Did really well explaining the concepts when asked to elaborate and would give many examples to help support the idea. Tests were very similar to the notes taken in class with small conceptual advances.
Dr. Pitici does a really good job in outlining what the expectations are, if you take notes, study, and participate in class you will do well in the course. It is also easy to ask questions in his class and he will explains things further if needed.
I had professor Patici for calc 3. I am a big math guy and I really appreciate and respect professors like Mr. Patici that know their material well and can communicate it in an effective way. If you are willing to learn and to put in the effort he can guide to the right path and I highly recommend him.
Dr. Pitici has a great passion for maths, and he has rich experience in teaching Cal 3 knowledge. The course itself is a little tricky, but Dr. Pitici always writes down each concept with examples during lectures, so it's easy to keep up with the pace as long as you go to lectures and take notes seriously.
Dr. Pitici is an exceptional calculus professor. He has deep knowledge for explaining complex concepts with patience and clarity. Although MAT397 is hard, he's always willing to help students. His mathematics books are also insightful and enjoyable. If you're seeking a knowledgeable, passionate calculus professor, Dr. Pitici is an excellent choice.
Pitch is a great professor overall, he's lectures are enjoyable and although his exams are really hard, if you're doing everything you need to do, you'll do good in class. Go to class, do your homework, go to recitation (if you have Vance as your TA, he's the best TA ever. SO helpful), and ask for help if you don't understand the course. Good luck!
Quite honestly one of the smartest professors I have ever had. He is very passionate about everything he taught, and he really wants you to succeed. His tests were tough, but he would curve it to make it fair, and his curves were more than fair. Truly one of my favorite professors would take him again.
Professor Pitici is an outstanding mathematics professor at SU! I had him for Calculus III (MAT 397) my freshman year. He does a great job contextualizing the complex topics and theorems within Calculus III, and does so in an inspiring and engaging way. My love for math has only grown because of this class.
Professor Pitici is an amazing professor! His lectures were great and the exams were fair if you did your work and went to class. He is extremely smart and his story time about his farm is always enjoyable. He really wants you to succeed so if you are struggling ask for help. If you put the effort in, you'll do great in class
I started the semester with very poor performance, having a failing grade after the first exam. Some words of encouragement gave me a morale boost and allowed me to have some hope of earning a decent grade for the course. Pitici taught me how to be a student outside of the classroom like no other had done before so I am grateful for that.
While he definitely knows his stuff, the erratic pace and harsh tests can make the class a bit overwhelming. I was able to keep up, but he doesn't offer much help if you fall behind. Hope you get a good TA to balance out the class.
the professor gives clear examples to show the technique that appears on the e-book, which helped me to fully master them in the final exams. Honestly speaking I was not a good student for I missed many of these classes, but the professor gives everyone 2 chances to retake the quizes. I really appreciate that.
Professor Pitici is a great professor who is very knowledgeable about calculus, and despite the difficulty of the course content he was able to explain everything in a way that made it easier to understand. While the class is hard, if you go to the lectures, take notes, and do the homework, you will do well.
This class was very difficult but there is no better professor for it. He gives clear and detailed explanation of all the topics with good connections between them to help you. The exams are made to be hard so put a lot of time into them and this class will be easy and enjoyable to take. Make sure you attend lecture or you will struggle
The content of this class is hard to wrap your head around, and it moves very quickly. However, Professor Pitici did an excellent job making the content accessible and helping us visualize concepts, often through physical demonstrations. I also really appreciated his explanations of real world applications for the math we were doing in class.
Pitici is a brilliant man. His class is very tough, but that is just the content of calc 3. He is extremely knowledgeable and tries to make what we are learning applicable to the real world and engineering. He doesn't have lecture slides, so you really shouldn't miss class even though it isn't mandatory. Exams are very tough and frustrating.
Dr. Pitici is a dedicated, positive, and intelligent professor. His high expectations and drive for excellence in everything he does inspired my academic, and life, journey. Along with an interesting life story, he was able to efficiently and effectively convey the material of this course that really mattered. Highly recommend.
Pitici is an excellent professor, you can tell that he knows how to teach each concept clearly. MAT 397 is likely the hardest class I've taken, but Pitici's explanations made it much easier. Don't miss class, because it's difficult to catch up after due to the pace. Exams are very difficult so make sure you understand everything thoroughly.
Pitici is an absolutely amazing teacher, with a true passion for his field. Every single lecture is prepare
He is one of the smartest men I have ever come across in all of my 16 years of education. You can see that he cares about what he is teaching and has an excellent understanding of the subject. If you are having trouble in the class always just go up to him after class and ask for help or clarification he is always more than willing to help out.
This professor rewards perseverance and is passionate about this subject. He might be intimidating at first, but he is open to any and all questions. I recommend this professor for Calculus 3.
Lectures are very informative, but go at a very fast pace. He is a very understanding person, and will strives for you to do well in his course. Lecture attendance is not mandatory, but highly recommended to go to. He is an overall awesome guy, and I would take another course with him.
Great professor. You can really see that he cares about the material and the students. The course content is taught in a way that relates it back to how it is useful and applies in the world
I highly recommend taking this professor for MAT 397 and MAT 485. Hard work is necessary to pass this class but he curves his exams pretty generously. Professor Pitici is incredibly intelligent and knows what he's talking about. Attendance is not mandatory but highly recommended because these classes are not very easy.
He cares a lot and values the learning experience over the actual grade. Effort to learn is important and he will definitely prepare you for your next classes. Very funny and easy to talk to.
Professor Pitici is known to be by far the best differential equations teacher and he didn't disappoint. His lectures were very detailed and helped you understand the material quickly and efficiently. He is a very fair grader and is very considerate when it comes to tests. You can very clearly see his passion for the subject as he enjoys teaching.
Lectures were very well organized and thought out with good examples for every topic covered. Professor Pitici was very good at making sure you had an above average understanding of each topic making sure to go over the application of each topic not just the theory.
Very fast paced lectures. But overall he is very knowledgeable on the content and is a great professor! Not a lot of review material for the exams besides the final so review all the lecture content.
This professor prepares well for class, and he places himself as an equal to his students. He presents both the initial material as well as background and applications. This makes it easier to grasp concepts. He works with students as much as possible outside of class and makes extra effort to help students with special needs. Highly recommended.
It is important to attend his lectures because they are very informative. He does a great job at preparing his students for the final by challenging his students to really understand the material during the semester, but he does not make students' grades in the class suffer because of it.
Pitici is an amazing professor as long as you attend the the lectures. One of my favorite my professors because of how easy his class was to follow. His quizzes and exams are fair. If you attend lectures then you have nothing to worry about. He is accessible in his office and will help. He does notice if you dont go to lecture and perform poorly.
HE HAS A GOOD TEACHING METHOD
Great Professor for MAT 485. would definitely take the class again.
Prof. Pitici writes tough exams, but nonetheless, he runs through the material clearly. If you show improvement/ perseverance, your effort will be recognized.
Professor Pitici was a great professor. He gives exams that are challenging but fair so long as you are following along during lectures and asking questions that arise. He makes it easy to follow along during lectures and encourages students to think critically about topics and ask questions.
Attendance isn't mandatory but you'll be lost if you don't show up and take good notes. Dr. Pitici is thorough and good at answering questions, so ask them! The homeworks for this class can be tough, definitely don't fall too far behind or you'll really struggle to understand what's going on in class. Tests are fair and representative.
By far my favorite math class I've had. Content is well organized and explanations are clear and engaging. Dr. Pitici brings props to help students understand vector space better, and he really cares about presenting the content well. Tough but fair exams. Attendance isn't mandatory but he'll notice if you're missing and you'll be super confused.
I really liked Professor Pitici's class. It is very hard and you need to go to class and participate to get a good grade but getting an A is entirely possible. His class is harder than other teacher's sections but he's a great professor who is clearly very passionate about teaching and the material.
The class is difficult overall, but Professor Pitici does a great job teaching the material. While he likes to give hard tests, they prepare you well for the final. I would definitely recommend taking the class with him. He is a great mentor and always comes excited to teach.
He does a decent job in lecturing abstract content while connecting the dots in between, profound understanding and a thorough yet precise exploration for every concept, while being very inspirational to questions beyond the content. Calc3 is a quite compact class, but if you preview and attend his classes and it'll surely be fun.
Professor Pitici was an excellent professor. He made the class interesting and engaging with his examples and real-life applications of calculus. His exams and quizzes were tough, but they helped prepare you for the final exam.
I had Dr. Pitici for MAT 397 and 485, he is very clear in his instructions and throws no curveballs. Although the material is tough in these courses, if you study his in class examples for the exams and quizzes you will do fine, take good notes. He is extremely knowledgeable and values effort from his students. You will learn a lot for him.
Great math professor, one of the best at Syracuse. Very fair. As long as you put in the work you'll be fine.
Really amazing professor, gave me the teachings and guidance needed to achieve a high grade on the class. I really recommend him as a professor for any class, really good professor overall, not just for his teachings.
Professor gave me wonderful teachings and guidance to help me understand the concept of calculus. Although the exam was difficult, you'll be fine as long as you put in the effort.
Pitici was a great prof, so smart, very nice and funny guy. His class was very hard though tbh, the material in 397 is very difficult and you really need to understand it to do really well, so for how hard it is he does well, sometimes he moves very fast but if youre naturally good at math/calculus you should be fine. My advice is to actually do hw
Pitici's exams were very difficult but they were very fair. I loved his teaching style and his lectures were always great. If you work hard, you'll be rewarded in this class.
Known to have the hardest exams out of all Calc 3 professors. He does curve slightly to make up for this, however it doesn't fully make up for it. He is an EXTREMELY smart person, caring, and has interesting lectures. However, from perspective of a student trying to succeed in a class, I would pick a different prof-I had a hard time learning w/him
Pitici's MAT485 is challenging but rewarding. Attend lectures, ask questions, and use tools like Unstuck ai to prep - you'll leave with a strong grasp of the material.
Brilliant man, teaches fast, not receptive to class questions. Lectures are essential but not enough to succeed. HW/quizzes don't reflect exams. Hardest exams of all the sections. Doesn't want students to fail. Returns points, once gave test corrections when whole class failed. 2 exams,1 final. HW and quizzes don't matter if you do well on exams.
Professor Pitici is one of the worst math professors at SU. His lectures consist of writing a bunch of stuff on the board as small as possible while he repeats "you should know this from high school". His class is poorly planned out and the tests are a complete mystery as he doesn't provide any information about what is on them.
The best Calculus III professor ever in SU
Explained the material well and made sure to ask the class after every problem if anyone had any questions. Quizzes were almost always good checkups on the work from the week to make sure we understood the topics and exams were difficult but not impossible. Although he doesn't take attendance it is important to show up.
Going to class isn't technically mandatory, but lectures aren't posted so it is important. Lecture is easy to follow and taking good notes and writing down examples helps a lot for quizzes and tests.
Professor Pitici is one of the better professors I've had. You can tell he enjoys what he does and is very helpful. Always open to questions and loves explaining things to help you understand. Test are difficult but to be expected. He grades favorably to help students do better. I would definitely recommend this class
Professor Pitici teaches a fast pace course, but if you attend lectures and do the homework's you can definitely get an A in his class. He is very caring about all of his students and truly doesn't want anyone to fail. There a three exams total including the final that make up 65% of your total grade. Exams and quizzes are very fair.
Great Professor! I felt that I really understood the material the way he taught it. However the lack of study guides for the exams combined with lots of questions on things mentioned maybe once made the class difficult.
Professor Pitici is great, show up to lecture and pay attention and you'll definitely get a good grade.
He can teach super fast at times, so make sure you pay as much Attention as you can. He is quite a humorous person and honestly one of the more chill professors I have had. The subject material is quite straightforward once you understand it, but some of it can get messed up if you aren't careful, so try to avoid silly mistakes.
Pitici is a great professor but he teaches at a quick pace so it is important to attend all lecture sand pay attention. Exams make up 65% of the grade so it is test heavy. He's willing to work with you if you put in effort! The exams are fair but the final was a little different and harder than the other two exams so be prepared for that.
He is one of the smartest professors I have had at my time here. I would take as many classes with him as possible if given the choice. Excellent with feedback when you ask him for it. Lectures are fast and information heavy so keeping up with notes is critical.
Dr Pitici cares a lot about how students do in class, and tries his best to make sure people succeed. Lectures are in-depth and cover everything you need to know, but are on whiteboard so you NEED to stay on top of notes. My only critique (could just result of course pace) is he doesnt spend much time explaining steps behind some subjects
Professor Pitici taught a relatively abstract course in a very intuitive way, often bringing props and equipment to demonstrate the course material visually. Excellent and very intelligent professor, whose sense of humor and care for the topic and students made lectures very engaging.
Pitici was a great professor for MAT 397, one of the best professors I've had in general. He's a great funny guy that loves to get to know his students. Lectures are very important and he goes fast but if you do the homework and pay attention it is a very rewarding class. He also gives a lot of fun tidbits about random stuff, 10/10 great professor.
Great teacher. Gives hard tests, but this class is not overly difficult.
i would definitely take his class if i had to take it again. He explains materials very well. Always encourages asking questions if we dont understand anything. The quizzes are on what we learn and he does provide extra practice problems. if anything comes up and if you explain your situation he would definitely understand your situation
Professor Pitici was thorough in his explanations and worked through many sample problems to prepare us for quizzes and exams. He clearly cares about his students' learning and success. His engaging lectures and personal stories made class enjoyable. It was a pleasure being his student in both MAT 397 and 485.
Overall, a very good professor and a genuinely enjoyable class. He's hilarious, clearly an expert, and is there to support you. The only issue I faced regarded his refusal to post practice exams as those tend to have the highest impact on my exam preparedness, but I was still content with my performance and the exams' similarity to course material.
You'll be fine as long as you show up and practice. Professor is very well educated on the topic and he feel could answer every question you may have, but make sure you ASK . Be prepared to recognize and memorize patterns a lot for this class.
Taking a course with Professor Pitici is a great choice. He explains concepts clearly and consistently works through a variety of practice problems, which are extremely helpful for understanding the material. Staying engaged during lectures and actively participating will help you succeed in his class.
Great Professor, Easy A+ if you take it online
I loved taking MAT 485 with Dr. Pitici! He was quick to answer questions and re-explain if students were confused. He teaches a little fast during lecture so it's important to pay attention and follow him. Grading is fair. He is a math genius outside of class and loves to get to know his students.
Exams often covered "special case" we had only covered once. The were no study guides but we were told everything that had been covered from X date to X date was "fair game". Great professor other than that, he explained everything clearly and at a reasonable pace
Professor Pitici is a true mathematician. He understands Calculus 3 in a way that others might not see, he's an overall great professor and truly looks out for his students. I struggled heavily with Calc 3 as this was my second time taking it yet he gave me the opportunity to pass. The class is reliant heavily on lectures and quizzes DO NOT skip.
A caring professor who clearly enjoys teaching. He simplifies complex concepts and always explains what and why formulas are used. His clear, structured style shows he wants students to truly understand the material, not just memorize it
I was a 4.0 Engineering major until this course. However, if it hadn't been Pitici, I would've had a much worse grade than a B+. He's an awesome and brilliant professor. The only thing I didn't like was how short his office hours were due to his extracurricular involvements. I thought I over-studied for this course; don't make that same mistake.
Professor Pitici not only knows this subject well but is an understanding professor. He is willing to help you if you are honest with him and go ask for help. This course can be difficult but you will do good if you attend the classes. Overall great professor and down to earth person.
Pitici truly loves what he teaches and cares more about students learning than grades. He is lenient with grading and willing to help you succeed. Do not skip lectures as he teaches quickly and shows key problem solving methods. Weekly in class quizzes make attendance essential. Highly recommend his class!
If you put in the effort he will absolutely take that into consideration if you hit a rough patch and that alone makes him stand out among most professors. Besides that he genuinely cares about his students success and is one of the more engaging professors I've met that makes taking this course a little easier imo
Dr. Pitici gives clear and detailed explanation of all the topics with good connections between them to help you. The exams are based on the lectures. Attending office hours is very helpful. I would highly recommend him if you need to take mat 397.
