She is an AWESOME teacher...you can tell she really loves to teach. She helps you in any way she can and her test reviews are some of the best i've ever had.

Very good teacher. She covers everything in class with powerpoint notes that are very helpful. She has fun class discussions and does not test you on what she did not go over in class. Gives you extra credit, and is extremely nice. Study the notes she gives you in class and I guarntee you pass with a B, if not better.

I took the video based course that met only 5 times, do not take this class this way. Mrs. Bemmel is an excellent instructor and the way she conducts lecture is very beneficial to grasping the material covered in the tests.

Took all 3 of her courses. A'ced every one. She is down to earth, funny, smart, and definitely cares about her students. Do not believe any negative ratings about this woman. You really have to be an idiot to fail her class. There is a lot of student interaction, (always debating and having fun). Hands down one of the coolest professors @ BCC.

The class was ok. It was interesting and thought-provoking. She engages in classroom discussion. My only complaints would be your grade is solely based on the tests, and the tests are downright tricky. You have to be able to read at a college level..if you can't don't expect to pass.

She is okay. She doesnt give any extra work. Her tests are very tricky!!!! When you think you did good on test chances are you failed... you have to study. Gives a 5 page essay at the end of the semester. she is interesting but i wouldnt recommend her.

I took this class online while I was carrying my first child.Online classes demand you to read the text and pay attention to the quizzes. She's overall easy. She provided a review which really helps during the exams and if you attend you'll do extremely well.

This is the best teacher I had last semester. I took her for Sociology and it was my absolute favorite class to go to! She makes the subject very interesting, she shows you a lot of videos, and loves to get the class engaged. Tests were easy if you study the material, she even typed out the notes for us and gave us all copies : ) TAKE HER!

You think you're just going to talk about sex but there are discussions EVERY class and it makes the class extremely interesting. Gives 5 chapter tests all based on her powerpoints that she puts online for you. Tests are easy if you study the notes. :)

Great teacher. The class was definitely interesting, the book wasn't necessary and she puts all of her notes online for you beforehand so all you have to do is follow along with her. 1 main project and 4 tests which she reviewed for in great detail. I've taken 3 of her classes and would definitely recommend her to anyone!

I just took her online class this semester. She's a great teacher, very fair and gives you the opportunity for extra credit. The class doesn't have a lot of work. One quiz per chapter, a couple discussion board postings per unit, one paper and a midterm and final. You do need to study for the exam and final, but they are not impossible.

I just took her online class and it was great - learned a lot of interesting stuff but did not have t do a lot of work. I got an A and I didn;t even buy the book. She gives extra credit options but they are usually involved with going somewhere and doing stuff - not good for prople who take online classes becasue they have many obligations elswhere

Must read assigned text if you want to PASS her class. I took the online course which was fairly easy but in order to pass with an "A" you have to read. Overall, class discussions were very interesting. Class was fun.

She's a cool professor. I got a 'B' in her class. All you have to do is show up to class everyday and read the chapters she assign and you'll do fine. I recommend her to anyone who plans on taking sociology!

Very sweet and helpful professor! She treats the class by the way the students act. Act like adults and nothing will be censored and you will learn a lot. She is full of helpful information and provides wonderful guest speakers! Test are a bit hard, but study. Very fun/easy class. Only downside is she overuses powerpoints :( i still learned though!

I took this class online during the summer. I have no interest in sociology and I got an A. There are 15 mini quizzes, 8 discussions, 1 writing assignment, a midterm, and a final. The midterm and final are a huge portion of your grade but as long as you do the study guide you should be fine. Easy A!! :)

she is very nice and holds a lot of interesting discussions. her online quizzes are simple, just read your notes and you'll do well. she gives lengthy reviews though, kind of tedious but it helps. she's very fair in grading. she hates use of cellphones, afterall its rude

This Professor is very nice, but her Final did not cover what was taught in the class. I believe she purposely made her mid-term and final extremely hard. Plus you had to go on campus to take them. I took Human Sexuality, because I thought it would be interesting. Courses like these are supposed to help your GPA. Not this one!

TAKE her. I took her online course this Fall. A lot of reading and study. Online quizzes easy. Midterm/final are at testing center and there are A LOT of questions. Between 70 and 100 questions. Just study, read the review and you will do good.

heavily used txt book. quizzes are vocabulary, but with somewhat confusing wording. test reviews are a bit vague, you have to study. it's not a super easy A but its possible. midterm and final are long close to 100 questions with some tricky questions. one writing assignment that is easy. she loves to have discussions which is neat

Awesome Professor, I took her class online and the class was very interesting. She is very helpful in that she host a WIMBA session to ensure you understand the material. Read your textbook and stick with the reviews she provided. The midterm and finals are taken at the E-testing centers but if you focus on her reviews you will definitely do well

I would advise you to take this professor, read the guide and follow the PowerPoint. If you study her PowerPoint's and reviews you will get an A.

Amazing professor! I ended up with a "C", but I pretty much deserved it because I didn't study for the mid term.. For the final I had to study like crazy and I got a B on it. Interesting discussions. Shes grades fairly. I got a 100 on a writing assignment. She gave us a online study session before finals. She really cared about us. Study!!!!!

This is not an easy class, but If you do all of your work and study hard, you will do good in this class. The professor is fair and gave extra credit opportunity. She also gives good feedback. You have discussions, mini quizzes, a written paper. The mid term and final exams are hard. She provides reviews for each test, but you must study!

Nicest professor ever, very understanding and helpful. She even uploads an audio review for midterm and final before the class even starts. Very easy grade and the textbook is very easy to read and fun.

Easy course, I got a 'B' because I barely studied and got a D+'s on both the midterm and final exams. I was focussed on my Math class so I barely read the textbook. It's possible to get an A if you actually try but failing is nearly impossible to do since its an online course. A lot of discussions, quizzes and 200 word papers so beware of that.

This class was pretty easy. I tried to do everything ahead of time so I wouldn't encounter problems. The midterm wasn't that hard if you studied what was on the study guide. The final,however, was really hard and didn't have anything to do with what was taught. If you want an easy A, participate in the discussion and do the paper and the quizzes

I took this course online. Nice professor, she explained detail on her assignment and remind ahead of time. Easy on grading discussion and paper. To get an A, you have to read a lot the chapters and outline them.

If you read all the powerpoints she posts on D2L or take notes while she's lecturing, this class is an easy A. The midterm and final can be kinda tough if you don't do the study guide, but I did it both times and I got A's on both the midterm and final. Passed the class with an A. She's really sweet and her lectures are interesting.

I took this class online this summer. It is not an easy class, and requires a ton of reading. The quizzes, midterm and final are very tedious. Make sure you are willing to work hard if you take this class. The professor is very understanding and will work with you if you run into a situation, she is great. I have a 4.0 GPA and still received a "B"

Unlike many online course professors that hide behind the internet and surface to enter a final grade, throughout the course, this professor is very prompt, interactive and encouraging, provides feedback, sends reminders when assignments are due or upcoming and provides clear instructions on how to complete assignments.

Ms. Baker made my first online class a smooth & enjoyable process. The class was easy to manage as she gave us the assignments that needed to be completed by the week every Monday. She would get back to you on your concerns very quickly. Discussions can be awkward at first, but you got used to it. All around great teacher, I definitely recommend.

I took her online, you need the book. She ,made us take the midterm and final in person at a campus. I got a C on Midterm and C on Final; however B in the overall class thanks to the discussion posts and tests online.

Honestly, the most helpful and understanding professor I have ever had. She is so nice, she cares about your grade, she will help you with anything, she's fair, the class was interesting, she posted announcements for assignment reminders about 2-3 times a week. Most of all, any time I emailed her for help, she answered right away to help!

Can't say enough good about this professor! She reads and comments on discussions. Everything is outlined in the syllabus. Participate in the discussions, make sure you do EXACTLY what is required on the syllabus and you WILL get an A. Final and midterm are difficult but she has power points and a good outline. In-class discussions. Easy quizzes (answers in textbook), midterm & final. She's very intelligent & gives a lot of information. You'll get a lot more out of the class if you show up, it is primarily lecture based & covers a lot of interesting topics. The service project was rewarding & a great experience. This class changed my life!

Responds relatively quickly to emails and discussions. I suggest renting the textbook, its not crucial but definitely is useful and I know I could have gotten a higher grade if I had used it from the beginning. This was a really interesting class I highly recommend it, and do the extra credit!

This was a 6 week class so it was very fast paced. Text book was online, free. There were several discussions, quiz and 2 paper (easy, got an A on both). The midterm and final were proctored. The quiz answers were NOT easily found online, grr. Passed with a B. Did offer extra credit. Great prof, answers quickly, post weekly notification.

Dr. Baker Bemmel is fabulous and so is this class. Perfectly structured online course. The class is based around the textbook, which is downloadable and free. Read a section per week with a PowerPoint summary, quiz, and occasional discussion. 1 short paper and 1 mandatory paper. Midterm and final. Stay on schedule and this class will be a breeze.

The class was an easy A if you did all of the work. There were papers and quizzes due every Sunday. She was very strict with the grading of the papers.

This was the first online class I ever took and it was insanely easy. The only grades are based on of open book quizzes and two short papers. The midterm and final weren't easy, but she covers them anyways. She makes a lot of mistakes in the quizzes, probably because they're copied and pasted from online. Easy A.

She is the absolute best! If you want a professor who really cares and pushes you to be great, then take her. Her class is not an easy A, as it shouldn't be. She really challenged me but in a way that truly humbled me. She responds to emails quicker than a friend would a text message. And you she keeps you on track with assignments which was great

Love her! I was worried I would regret taking a session 2 class, but I loved it with her! She knows what she's talking about and gives tons of extra credit and curves grades. She's extremely kind and responds to emails quickly. She learns everyone's names and truly cares. You just have to do your assignments and you'll get an A.

Shes great! I had her for a session 2 class, make sure not to turn in work late. She has midterm and final reviews, but only helps 80%. Need to read and complete video summaries and a quiz for every chapter. PowerPoints and lectures are her thing! VERY organized and a sweet teacher. She responds to emails fast. I took this class during the summer & it was fairly easy. Awesome professor & she grades fairly. Weekly quizzes (open book) along with discussion, 1 mandatory paper 3-4 pages, finals & mid term (proctored) scenario based questions. Her PowerPoints are extremely useful to pass both exams. She also gives a test review of what area to study.

This professor is great. She is very caring and she wants her students to do their best. I did a six week course, but even though it was a lot because of the short time frame, it is definatly easy to get an A. Just put the extra work in.

Prof Bemmel is AMAZING. She considers herself to be conservative in many aspects but keeps a neutral mind & covers a variety of topics, including several that may be considered controversial, w/o bias. Attendance IS mandatory w/ points deducted for tardies/absences. Extra credit opportunities available. Class is entertaining & assignments are fair.

If you don't get something, she explains in a great way and gives really good examples. If you pay attention and take notes, you'll do good on the quizzes and tests. Great teacher, the class is very informal and she is extremely easy going, 1 essay. She grades quizzes on each chapter , 3 discussions, short Video paragraphs, 2 exams and offers extra credit

This class has been interesting, she made it that way. There were zooms that were used for extra credit however the first zoom was mandatory to attend. It was a blended class, she went over information that is required for the week on Monday mornings, also had zooms if people did not understand the topics. One to two quizzes per week and paragraphs

You actually need to study for the midterm and for the final test. Mrs. Mirella will give you 14 videos and 14 mini-quizzes. For the mini-quizzes, you can use your notes and the book. For the videos, you have to describe what you saw in the videos in your own words (easy). And for the live-discussion- if you show up you get a 100%

Dr. Baker Bemmel was a pleasure to receive instruction from. There is a lot of writing in this class (Chapter Video Summaries, Discussions, a Video Analysis/Essay on one of the theoretical perspectives), but the professor was not hard on us. There are quizzes for every chapter and A LOT of reading. I would take another one of her courses.

LOTSSS OF READING & IT WAS STRESSFUL!! You have to read 2 chapters every week, take two quizzes and submit two summaries weekly. The quizzes and summary were not a problem but the reading was a lot and stressful. I ended the course with an A anyways.

She was a great professor. There is a lot of reading but it's easy stuff. Work ahead so you don't fall behind. She offers a lot of extra credit opportunities, so do them if you think you need more points. She is easily accessible, and a very caring professor. I loved her. Wish there were more teachers like her.

She's a sweet and easy professor! I previously took SYG2340 with her and I learned a lot in both of her classes! I don't think the homework/quizzes/tests/final/midterm is hard at all, it's very straight forward. If you fail her class then you were the problem. The textbook is free (pdf) and super helpful, you should use it 100%.

She's so sweet and super easy to talk to! I liked her class so much that I took SYG2000 with her and I learned so much from both of her classes. She gives extra credit opportunities, but you shouldn't need them because her work is easy and straight forward. I have nothing bad to say about her.

This is easily the best class I've ever taken! The professor is super kind and calm, her assignments are quick and simple, and there is a lot of interesting information to learn from her. Her grading is fair and she offers extra credit, she is accessible out of class, and she is very respectful towards everybody's needs. 100% would recommend!!

Weekly YouTube video summaries, chapter notes/quizzes/discussions. You can use your notes for the quizzes. The only thing is the mid term & final exams are proctored. One 500 word count writing assignment but its just that. Shes a light grader & very nice! Just do all the assignments & extra credits. I failed both proctor exams & still got an A.

Dr. Baker Bemmel is AMAZING! I really enjoyed her class in Session 2, and I've learned a lot about sociology and diverse perspectives on society. Her lectures were fantastic; the workload was reasonable and tolerable. She is absolutely the best. I recommend taking her whether this course is a core or an elective. You will not regret it!

Great professor! Very fast class but passed it very easily. Textbook was easy to read because it was interesting so you shouldnt have a problem. Quizzes helped with the midterm and final exam. Lectures were heavy but amazing. Great to participate and express how you feel/opinions. An essay but easy to write because you speak from past experiences

I took her for SOCL 1020 (Intro). She was very easy going, and was very detailed in expectations. Weekly quizzes, video paragraphs, and sometimes discussions. Two term papers that were easy prompts along with multiple choice midterm and final! Entire course is posted and available to you start of semester. Highly recommend her!

I did the 6 week course & it was quite easy. Each chapter had three assignments: notes, video summary, & a 10 question quiz; with 1 discussion per unit. There was one paper that had to be 4-5 pages, but she let the class know 2 weeks before & provided a sample paper. Both the midterm & final exam had a study guide. Easy class with minimal work.

This is a very easy class take this if you want to pass ! It was a lot of work !! But you can knock them out the way very fast it was mainly note taking from videos and reading stuff, discussions and quiz it was easy I passed this class with a B (81.79%) I could of passed with an A but I didnt complete a few note taking which cause me to have a B

I took the short session (2) with her but I really wish I had her for longer bc she was so passionate and really opened my eyes to a lot of things. Some of the things I learned from her class have really stuck with me. She is super caring and friendly plus the class is easy. The final was the easiest thing I have every done. I loved her 100/10

This is a note taking course, be prepared to read as well. Took class for 6 weeks and it goes by fast, keep up with it, don't procrastinate. Assignments are easy, 2 exams, couple quizzes and 1 writing assignment. I enjoyed this class, she was great :).

This course is a lot of busy work like discussions, readings, video summaries, quizzes, and hand written notes. She wants you to physically write your notes and submit. However, its doable if you do all your work you will end with an A. The final and midterm are difficult I failed but still finished with an A so do your assignments and take her.

I took this class online and it was a lot of busy work due every Sunday it is doable though. She asked for hand written notes which is the only downside. The midterm and final were hard but as long as you do all your assignments you should end with an A.

The sweetest professor!! Her class is so interesting and the conversations give you so many different perspectives. She's always so kind and really helps you internalize not judging people as quickly as we usually do. You always leave her class with something to reflect on. Class is very enriching and there are only exams for midterm and final.

Dr. Bemmel is a fantastic professor who responds to emails promptly and offers helpful feedback. On your final and midterm exams, she also lets you utilize your notes (which can only be two handwritten pages), which was a big help to me. Without a doubt, I would take her again.

She is a great professor. As long as you keep up with the assignments it is an easy A. She does give a lot of busy work but it is very managable.

Professor Bemmel is great - as long as you stay on top of the assignments, it's a manageable class. The midterm and final are challenging, but using tools like Unstuckstudy and taking handwritten notes can really help. Definitely worth taking if you're interested in the subject.

One of the best professors I've ever had. Although some of the curriculum includes controversial topics, she allows everyone to have their own opinion and doesn't try to sway you in any direction. Makes the lectures very interesting and entertaining. Very responsive if you have questions in class or virtually. I wish I could take her again.

I took the 12 week course, it is a lot of work but manageable. Work was due on Saturday, I would have preferred Sunday. She does not accept late assignments without proper documentation. Gives opportunities for extra credit. You can use handwritten notes for midterm and final.

Absolutely amazing professor! The coursework is super manageable. I saw some people say the midterms and final were tough, but she actually gave a 10-point boost because she recognized that. As long as you turn things in on time, you'll be totally fine. She also lets you know exactly what's due each week.
