I didn't have her for class but I went to every study session she gave before exams and I learned more from her than I did my own instructor. She is nice and very clear in her teaching. I also hear she is great for Micro also.

I did learn a lot from her lectures, but she did a sucky thing, she told me she was dropping me cuz I missed too many labs (okay, I can accept that, I did.) but then she ended up not dropping me and giving me an F.

She more than willing to take the time and clearly explain everything. She has high standards and expects her students to achieve them. Anatomy is not fun and all of her quizzes do not help. She enjoys what she does and is fair. I hated the class, but if I had it to do over again I would take it with Macia's she is what a teacher should be.

Very fun class, Great instructor. Always willing to help. Just study lecture notes and read those heading sectins in the book, easy A.

Very good at lecturing. I learn a ton when I go to class. She is helpful and explains things very well. A lot of informationt to take it but she makes it pretty easy and fun. If you are an A student you should get an A, and if you're a C student you should get a C. Not the easiest class, but not the hardest. Good professor.

She is a great teacher....she makes the class very interestin...she usually gives hints on what is goin to be on the quizzes and tests...test and quiz are pretty eazy if u study once or twice or if u like science....

You just have to have an interest in Biology to pass this class. The tests are from the department, every Bio class takes the same tests and Quizzes so really it does not matter which instructor you get.

She explains the material well and is an enthusiastic professor. Tons of studying is MANDATORY if you want to do well!!! Make sure that you read and re-read your textbook, notes, and watch the included CD that comes with the book to thoroughly understand Biology. Other than that, she is very friendly and cute! :-D

Loved her teaching but test are ridiculously hard. Make sure you over study. Don't try to memorize it doesn't work! You must KNOW the material in and out! On test she sometimes focuses alot on meningless details on one particular subject & not the main important obvious ones. record all lectures Can test on things ONLY mentioned in lecture

I believe that this class is very challenging. She does go fast through lecture, but EVERYTHING is in the book. It's a given that if you read the book you will have a better understanding of the material. She does not baby her students, but she is very helpful when you need her help and she doesn't make you feel stupid.

bio4 is very difficult, too much information its nearly impossible, but macias is extremely helpful, kind, and intelligent. if you try hard, she will see that, and help you out however she can. even though i didn't get an A or a B, i enjoyed the class.

Instructor was an authority with regard to the subject. Lectures were crystal clear. Instructor?s personality made class interesting and enjoyable. No mandatory homework, as a result, all grade points resulted form tests and quizzes; no free H/W points. Good luck, you won?t pass the class if you don?t read the assigned material.

She's a great professor. You'll be extremely glad you took her. I honestly don't think you need the book. Just pay attention during lecture, take notes and study the notes she provides. I don't have an interest in Bio, just taking it because I have to, but her class is seriously my favorite class ever. I always look forward to go to this class!

Professor Macias is a excellent at teaching (for Biol-01). She is very helpful and her exams are easy (however, there are a few tricky questions)! She also offers a tutor or SI session which is very helpful (especially if you have a diffcult time understanding the concept of bio). I was very close to getting a A in her course lecture.

I've never been good at science, but she's a VERY good teacher. She primarily uses powerpoint for lecture but she also adds her own information, and she explains things in ways that makes it easily comprehensible. If you don't understand, she'll explain it until you do. She's funny and super cute, too.

Overall, a good teacher. There were occasional questions on a quiz or exam that weren't quite fair, or I suspect she was just plum crazy on the answer she expected. In fairness, she was always open to our challenging a question.

It's a difficult subject, but Professor Macias' lectures are crystal clear. If the class is struggling with a topic she'll take the time to help clarify any issues and make sure that everyone understands what's going on. Tests aren't easy, but if you go to lecture you shouldn't have any surprises come test time.

She is one of the best teachers and merced college and knows what she is talking about. Her test can be difficult if you don't understand the concepts but she gives you a lot of extra credit. I would highly recommend her for microbiology, i took her in the summer as a high school junior and got an A in the class.

Mrs. Macias is an awesome instructor. She makes biology fun for those who are not really interested in it and is also extremely helpful. There is no need to take notes, she puts her lectures on powerpoints for students to print out.

Great teacher, but the class is crazy hard. there's so much information to get down, and the tests are really detailed. the notes being on line really helped, and we formed a study group for our class which i highly recomend, but i really struggled with the material. you really have to work your butt off for this class to do well...

(BIO02) This was a tough class. Mrs. Macias is a wonderful teacher and willing to help by giving optional reviews for tests. I got an A but it was from hours of studying and being involved in a study group. Her tests are very detailed so if you study and attend her reviews and study some more, you should do fine.

I had her for both Microbio and Biol 4A. I have learned so much in her classes that I could literally recite things off the top of my head. Intriguing and passionate presentation of materials and crystal clear exams. This class is so hard but so good!

I absolutely loved this professor! By far my favorite class and I was so intrigued by her passion and love for Biology. She is detailed in her lectures and her tests are tough but shes always willing to help any way she can with material. I wish she was my professor for all my sciences. She is an outstanding teacher! This class is extremely interesting and she makes it really fun. She is so enthusiastic about the subject and she really wants everyone to learn the material. This class is hard and you do have to take the time to study and learn the material!

Her lecture exams are very difficult. I have never gotten anything lower than an A until her course. Definitely go to the exam reviews, she is very revealing during those sessions of what will be on the exam. Lab exams you must write your own summaries of each exercise to be prepared for the exams. She does not curve any exams.

She goes over EXACTLY what's going to be on them. i would love to take her microbio class, but i have a full plate as it is. but i'll give it a shot, just to haver her teach me more!

My first day of college, for my very first class I had Mrs. Macias. Everyone else is going to have a hard time competing with her! She is so enthusiastic about the material, it easy to learn. She is very approachable, flexible, and helpful. She is the best teacher I have ever had. And I love her wardrobe! I definitely recommend taking her classes.

The hardest teachers I have had have taught me the most and she is one of them. You will learn new study habits that will benefit you later on. I never used the book, waste of money.

Macias is a GREAT teacher! I took this class during the summer and I was a bit hesitant because I have heard how hard this course is but if you put your time into it you will do fine! I got an A and I studied her lecture notes, listened to my recordings of lecture and read the chapters. Her study guides are very helpful!

Macias is amazing! I just took her class over the Summer, and I just have to say she is definitely enthusiastic about what she does! She teaches very well, gets the point across, and really tries to get you to do well. She's the type of professor who will help you, as long as you show interest. If you have a choice, take her class. Even for Bio 1.

Ms. Macias is a great teacher. Yes, this class is very hard (especially since I took it over the summer) but she explains and organizes subjects and information very well. She is very helpful, always gives 2 extra credit questions on tests (which can bump you up a whole grade) and really wants students to succeed. Put in the work!

Mrs. Macias was by far my favorite instructor at Merced JC! I had her for Biology 2, 4A and 20 just because she makes biology that fun and interesting! She loves what she does and is very good at getting the material through to her students. We didn't use her textbook much, mostly all online notes. I highly recommend taking a bio course with her!

Macias is a good teacher explains herself good during lecture the problem is the class it is a class you really need to focus on and spend time reviewing notes and reading after the lecture thanks to SI tutoring and payin attention during class and reviewing i passed this class the second time around

Took Macias for Summer Microbiology, Bio 20. Amazing instructor that makes complex material easy to understand. Similar to Valerie Albano's teaching style. This class will teach you how to study. You will put in hours per day but such a good teacher and class. She really means it when she says "hardest fun class you will ever have". Would retake

The mind boggling information was presented in such a good way by this professor that I started loving biology more than i ever did. she is super nice and clear; treated us students like her children. Care for students can totally be seen in her eyes while she lectures!!!!

Professor Macias is the first Biology professor I've had at Merced College and she is so great that I would take her class over and over again. She is such a great teacher, very clear, very nice, cute personality, not much homework besides reading. I wouldn't even bother looking for a better bio teacher because I'm so confident that she's the best.

Professor Macias, is a great teacher! If you study for the test you'll do fine, they can be hard though because of the wording. She gives extra credit here & there, just a few points. Quizzes are worth a lot, so don't so bad on those. She is a pretty slow grader though, which most people hated a lot. She's helpful during office hours, if needed.

Professor Macias teaches Human Biology in a way that makes it interesting. Her lectures are easy to follow, because she gives you the ability to print her power point slides. The class was tough, but I learned a LOT! You must study and know your stuff. Memorization will NOT work in her class. I highly recommend Professor Macias.

Well, it's micro so it's a tough class. Professor Macias, however, makes it fun and easier to learn. She is rarely stumped on a question and doesn't make you feel insignificant if you ask a silly one. Cares for her students and is very approachable during office hours. Consistently in a happy mood as well. You can tell she truly loves her job!

She was a great professor. She's very good to take if you're a visual or kinesthetic learner. She draws a lot of pictures and everything has a happy face on it. I'm more kinesthetic so when she has us draw with her it really helps to reinforce in my mind the lesson.

By far the best instructor I've ever had!!! Micro is not an easy subject but Macias does everything and anything to help you. You just have to be willing to ask for help. Does provide study guides and does study sessions on her own time if you make up the group and she is free during that time. Over all AMAZING

Great! Professor Macias has amazing and very knowledgeable lectures that demand your attention. She is positive, energetic and loves her job. She inspired me to love Human Biology! It is not an easy class, you have to study if you want to succeed in it, but professor Macias is helpful and she gives you all the tools to pass in the class.

Professor Macias is a solid choice for a biology professor.. She doesn't give a lot of extra credit and there are no weights in her class so maintaining a high grade from the start is crucial. You're going to have to read the book for this class if you want to do good on the exams because she focuses a lot on the processes in biology.

I am not a huge science person. I always hated biology since high school, but she made me really enjoy it. She really cares about her kids, even though she has like a thousand of them. She is really passionate about what she teaches, and if you pay attention and actually study for the exams, it will be super easy for you. Loved her!

She has a very inclusive and interactive energy so it woke up and got me really invested during the lectures. She wants the best for her students and helps them develop a better way to study if one did not already know how to. 10/10!

Not majoring in bio but her lectures are very interesting and you will not get bored. I highly recommend Professor Macias for bio4a! She keeps her lectures interesting and talks about biology-related current events and discoveries. Start with her PP slides and use it as a guide when navigating through the book on what to study. Study guides are very helpful for the test and I found flashcards to be effective for studying.

Prof. Macias is amazing & very clear with her words! I took this class online, but she made it feel like in person. Her lectures were recorded videos, but theyre so clear that you feel prepared afterwards! Test are based off lecture. Shes kind & sympathetic, she allowed me to take a quiz I missed. With this Covid madness, this is a class to take!

Best science teacher Ive ever had! I hate science and do not understand most of it but she will help you so much. Make sure to watch all of her lectures because thats what most of her quizzes and exams are based off of!! If you struggle GO TO HER PERSONAL MEETINGS! She is so helpful!! Prof Macias is a great professor. She is very passionate about biology which is a great thing. No homework just lab write-ups and exams. The exams are not difficult if you really study hard, you have to know the stuff very well because questions will ask for example what would happen if this is mutated in a gene. I loved this class, even for a non-major! Professor Macias is a great professor with lots of love for the subject & students. Even though the lectures could be long, they would really prepare you for the quizzes and exams. The first half of the semester was heavy, but still manageable, and after that it's a breeze. Definitely recommend!

Prof Macias was a really great online class. her lectures were outlined really well, so it was super fast to take notes. tests are simple, she gives you a list of concept checks at the end of each lecture. if you go over that, you'll pass no problem. she made me really enjoy biology!

Macias is the best biology teacher. Her class is extremely lecture heavy, but you don't have any homework, so plenty of time to watch lectures multiple times (if needed). She doesn't get upset if somebody makes a mistake, she uses that time to go over with the class, what could of caused the experiment to go wrong. Strongly recommend Macias.

This teacher is super cool but, VERY lecture heavy. She also doesn't give homework your grade goes off of test and quizzes. So if you depend on homework for grades and not your testing scores I dont recommend this class. The quizzes and tests are all in the lecture so as long as you take good notes and study you should be fine.

No hw but gives pts for all the labs u do and if u show up to each lab. Lab/Lecture exams. Lecture exams online, lab exams in person on the computers. Uses the MC lab manual. During labs she recaps her lecture 10-30 mins and then walks u thru lab activity which are super simple. Signs you off before the end of lab/takes attendance

Coursework was very straightforward. The online text and virtual labs were easy to understand and complete. She gives great study guides for tests. Do the readings, take good notes and you shouldn't have any issues. She's quite responsive when you reach out to her.

Amazing teacher, makes subject matter so digestable and hilarious at times. She encourages you to ask questions after quizes and I even had my grade changed a couple of times after explaining my confusion. Super accomodating and is the perfect amount of strict. Be careful though, only Labs, quizes, and exams are graded so bad grades hit hard.

Took this online class over the summer and it is an easy class. Only thing is there is a lot of labs, but I assume it is because I took this over the summer. Just do your all the assignments and you will pass.

Took this course online. Lots of labs, but there was essentially no way to fail the labs unless you don't do them at all. Professor Macias is very communicative. Exams are based on the readings and labs--take thorough notes & redo the labs! Study guides are offered for exams. Definitely was enjoyable for someone who isn't a science major.

Professor Macias makes this enjoyable even for non-science majors. The lectures are thorough, and the labs/assignments, though numerous, are manageable. Supplement your studying with unstuckstudy and you'll do well. Overall, a solid class if you put in the work.

I took Professor Macias for Biol-09 Genetics. Each week, there is an online lecture (40-50 minutes), chapter homework, and a chapter quiz. There are 5 exams and a final project that requires you to write a short genetics paper (500 words). There is no lab, just a lot of reading and tests. Overall, it was an easy and informative class.

Professor Macias is one of the best microbiology teachers. If you have the chance to take it with her please do! She made class interesting and made you wanna learn more. Her exams and chapter quizzes are kinda heavy but if you dedicate the time to study and read you'll be fine. A good grade is earned, don't expected to do bad and get a good grade.

I loved Professor Macias! By far the best professor I have had so far. She makes sure you understand the lecture, she doesn't mind repeating herself multiples times if it means that the whole class will go home understanding the lecture. Exams weren't bad either. 100% will take her again. Looking forward to having her again for Micro.

Took this class as a requirement (last semester at MC due to moving), great professor. Would definitely take her again. The labs weren't that difficult, but I did struggle with a few of them. Smartbooks were more difficult in my opinion. As long as you read & study, you should do well in this class.
