Sweetest professor I've ever had. Always willing to help academically and personally. Super flexible and understanding!! Gives you her number and skype so you can reach her anytime for help. Goes off on tangents sometimes and references her former position at P and G a lot but otherwise shes awesome. New to SC but definitely recommend her
Miriam is a wonderful lady who means well. She is super nice and the class is super easy. HOWEVER, it is soooooo boring and she gives each student a chance to answer stupid questions, like "What brands do you recognize?" Take for the A, not for interest.
BEST 307 PROFESSOR. Class can get dull at times but everything is straightforward and it's fairly easy to make an A
She's very sweet but lacks teaching experience. Lectures were entirely pointless, painfully long, and added nothing to my education. I literally never went for the second half of the semester and still got an A-. This class killed my interest in marketing, but maybe it's a good thing she helped me realize it early on and not too late.
Really sweet, understanding, and truly wants people to do well in the course. I recommend taking her for 307.
Do not recommend!! Very nice lady and sincerely wants to help you. But at this point, I really hate this class. Hate is a strong word. She expects you to study ALOT of the 2 exams. Nice professor but her teaching style is not good and makes marketing really boring. Memorize everything from a to z that's what is expected from you.
Very kind professor and means really well, very understanding also, but a bit on the boring side. You can definitely get by without going to class and just memorizing the terms before the test..
Mariam is great. This class is quite easy, she is amazing, and she actually attempts to help students prepare for a job by talking about interviews and bringing in guest speakers. I would definitely take her. The only negative is that it doesn't really "push" you in the marketing sense.
She is a very kind person, but like others said-- The final grade did not reflect my tests really -- more my bad group project. Had a A- or better the whole class, due to the project ended up with a B
She is just freaking sweet and amazing! Her midterm and final is simple and easy.. beware: alot of T/F qts. No HW! lecture attendance isnt a must, but go to discussion. The group projects are the worst. I dont know why the whole class is rating us when we're all competing for a grade. The group project really screwed over my grade.
Great class. Interesting material and fun participation.
Professor Burgos is one of the nicest, most helpful teachers at Marshall. If you go to office hours, she will discuss anything with you, including future career plans as well as help in the class. Tests are easy if you study for them, the group project grade is a little more variable. Going to class will give you a nice grade boost at the end.
Miriam is one of the most daring professors I've had. If you go to her office hours she will hook it up with information on any topic . You can tell she truly cares. Test's are simple but long. Our final was 170 questions, when a test is this long you pretty much need to know every concept without second guessing . Group projects are graded hard.
Prof. Burgos truly cares about her students! Go to her office hours if you are confused with anything or if you want to find out more about marketing. Although the exams are pretty simple, they are very long. Also, the group project is graded VERY hard, be aware.
She truly cares about her students and makes herself accessible so you can reach her at any moment, through texts, phone calls, etc. She makes discussion fun and entertaining and brings in guest speakers. She let us out early a majority of the time and treats her students like friends. The tests are long but not hard. I really enjoyed her class!
Great prof, excellent lectures. Not much homework but exams and group project are tough/lots of work. Great class, take her.
Awful, awful, painful tests, but great class. Graded on just exams, participation, attendance, and final project. Bomb any one thing and it can hurt your GPA.
Takes attendance with pop quizzes that cannot be made up (tho you can miss one or two with no points off). Lecture heavy class but lectures are interesting. Beware of cold calling in section. Don't cram for exams; hard to keep up with the reading. Use her "study guides" for midterm and final - they really help.
Very accessible; great prof. Willing to do "anytime office hours" on Skype and something called Zoom. Long vocabulary lists. Excellent class, take 307 with her. Has real industry experience. Tons of reading first two weeks, less reading later, takes attendance with pop quizzes, no make-ups.
Has real industry experience. Great prof, very accessible. Study the vocab carefully, it will help on the midterm. Take 307 with her.
Great class, very accessible prof. Group project is big part of the final course grade. Burgos will be very helpful for you if you are applying for Marketing internships and want to prepare/have mock interview. But don't argue with this prof about grades -- she will "reevaluate" your grade and it might end up even lower. Attendance quizzes.
Excellent class, very real-world, useful for internships if you want to work in Marketing. Very accessible prof, even let's you text her even on weekends if you have urgent questions. Exams are very, very long. Gives attendance quizzes.
Grade depends entirely on midterm, final, group project, and attendance. But good class, really helped with my internship. Will provide her cell number, and lets you text her even on weekends.
Interesting lectures. Will write great recommendation letters if you ask her for an internship or scholarship. Great class, take her for 307!!
Great class, great speakers. Only graded on a few things though, but grading system is fair. Good class, take her.
The sweetest professor at USC - hands down. She called me during spring break to walk me through the group project, and she's super helpful like that all the time. So knowledgeable, and the tests are directly from the reading. She remembered everyone's names in the first week. She's one of those teachers that would write you a letter of rec.
Prof Burgos was the best. Heavily studying the book (flashcards are good) for her tests is very helpful. She is very accessible and friendly. The group presentation was a lot of work but we did very well because we practiced a lot. She wrote me a letter of rec too!
Great class, great prof, would definitely recommend. Only teaches BUAD 307 in Spring Semesters (I asked her), so plan accordingly if you want to take. Good class, but exams are really long tho. Very accessible outside class.
Great prof, but rated a "5" on how hard the class was because the final exam is long. She gives pop attendance quizzes and they DO count towards your grade. Lectures are kinda long. Good class overall, learned a lot that I applied in an internship. Take her.
Professor Burgos is the best! One of the smartest professors I've had at USC, and she truly cares about her students above all else. She's very willing to help outside of class or offer career advice, and her exams are long but fair. Highly recommend!
-Wonderful professor if you're trying to do Business Development or Marketing -She has a lot of industry connections -She does not hesitate to write letters of rec or help with career advice -Tests are doable, extremely long but if you study well you will do well -Large group presentation project at the end
Great prof, interesting lectures, great real-world examples that can even help you during an interview for an internship.
Big group presentation at the end. Extremely long tests but fair. Lectures are long but she'll break them up with videos and activities. Don't miss lectures lots of information given in lectures that's not in textbook. Great class, industry experience, good prep for internship interviews.
Only grades on midterm, final, market research participations, big semester group project, attendance and participation. GREAT prof very accessible. Lectures are long but very interesting with real world video content. Has industry experience. GREAT class, take this for 307! Takes attendance using quizzes.
Midterm was VERY long and difficult. Not sure about 2.9 as difficulty rating. Great prof, wrote last-minute letter of rec for my internship application. Very accessible outside class. Roomate says final is harder than midterm. TAke this prof for 307!!
Good class, great prof, but bombed the midterm. Midterm is incredibly long!! But take her. Very caring prof, writes great letters of recommendation if you ask her. Probably the best of the 307 profs.
Tests are 120 Q's multiple choice & T/F. Lectures are long but she posts powerpoints. You need to read to do well on the tests. There is a midterm (25%), the final(25%), a group project(38%), and participation(12%) that factor into the overall grade. Very helpful if you want to go in to marketing and has a lot of useful job experiences to share
Great class with interesting lectures and very good speakers towards end of semester. Take Burgos for BUAD 307. She only teaches 307 in Spring. I did underestimate how long the midterm would be so I bombed it, but there are good opportunities to pull up semester grade.
Lectures are interesting, has industry experience. Exams are long, challenging but not impossible. Some on here say "beware of pop quizzes" and it's true, but they're credit-no credit and used only to take attendance. She takes questions from those quizzes and puts some in the midterm, final. Very good class overall, great choice for 307 prof.
trust me. when you take buad 307 with prof miriam, there are no regrets. its that simple. its an easy class and the prof only makes that better. shes kind, caring, and engaging.
Nice teacher, but teaches students as if were in elementary school. Sends out long emails that there is an attendance quiz today, but when you go to class, there is no quiz and instead you get to leave in 30 mins !? Test are hard, midterm was 120 MC questions and final was 167 MC questions. Big group project also takes a while. Easy B, HARD A.
She is such a sweet professor. Always friendly and availible to help. The curve is really strict so it is difficult to get an A. Although I was one of the best students in the class, I still received a B because I struggled with the exams greatly. They are LONG!!! The group project is easy and graded easy. She's one of the best for 307
Best 307 prof., says she only teaches 307 in Spring semesters so plan ahead. Great industry experience and incorporates it well into class examples. Group project is graded tough. Keep up with the reading. Marketing research studies are an easy 10 points so don't slack on those. Lectures can feel really long sometimes. Take her.
Great prof, very helpful and knowledgeable. Has real world experience. She will stare at you and make you uncomfortable in discussion section if you arrive late, which sucks when you have a legit reason to arrive late but that's how section is. Lectures can feel very long sometimes but some weeks are very brief, but full of useful information.
Great class, not too hard but very useful information for marketing internships. Best 307 prof at Marshall, take her class.
Gives useful advice about internships. Midterm and final exams are very long and you will always feel rushed on cases and exams in this class. Good prof and great class overall tho, best choice for 307.
Major parts of grade are midterm, final, group project, so each counts a lot. You select your own teams in discussion section, so don't miss class on the day you select teams. Prof is very helpful and has industry experience and does consulting work, gives solid career advice.
Great class, very useful real world examples for internships even if your not pursuing marketing career. Best 307 professor, teaches only in Spring.
Great class, come prepared to section or sometimes she'll cold call and it can be embarrassing. Great real world examples. Project is graded tough but fair don't procrastinate. Also DON'T complain about your semester grade to Burgos. She'll send you through her dept "committee" and you'll end up with a LOWER semester grade, fair warning.
Long midterm and final. Very useful examples in class. Textbook is somewhat dry but has good examples. Keep up with the reading to do well on midterm, final. Project grading is tough. Very accessible prof, gives you her cell phone number says call anytime.
Great class, very useful for internships, best 307 prof. Group project is big component of final grade. Not an easy A but the grading is fair. Gives good feedback about the project. Useful class for marketing internships.
Top prof in BUAD 307. Midterm and final exam are tough but grading is fair. Midterm is more about terms and concepts and recalling those. Final has more quant, and more calculations, also more questions. Both exams are long but doable. Fair grader overall. Definitely not an easy A class. Pick your project team carefully. Best option for 307.
Gives good feedback about the group projects. Very useful class if you want an internship in mkt. Best among the 307 professors.
Great lectures and activities in section that help you remember what's in the textbook, for the midterm and final. Don't slack on the reading or it catches up with you for the midterm. One of the best profs at Marshall, definitely the best 307 option.
Great lectures; summarizes textbook but doesn't repeat it. And gives you details that are not in the textbook but helpful for internships. Has relevant industry experience and consulting experience. Midterm and Final are long but fair.
Exams are definitely long and tough but not unreasonable. Great industry experience. Will help out a lot if you want internship advice. Don't slack on the "marketing research studies" - it's an easy 10 points for your grade. Also keep up with the textbook.
Great experience for taking BUAD 307, probably best among the 307 profs. Great ELC exercises, has industry and consulting experience, interesting lectures. Don't skip class - attendance quizzes are given randomly and never announced. Great choice for 307 definitely take her.
Absolutely incredible professor, so great that I felt the need to write a positive letter to the marketing department chairs. Fantastic. Be thankful if you get her, I have no complaints whatsoever
Among the best at Marshall. Definitely take her for 307. Teaches 307 only in Spring. Says she only teaches graduate students in Fall semesters. Ask your advisor about a waitlist for her class, that's how I got it. Fills up right away. Great class, real world experience and examples.
Wow. By far the best professor I've had at USC. She communicates clearly, is available for questions, and doesn't overload you with work. The material is interesting and the class is relevant to the real-world. I've had some awful professors at Marshall but Professor Burgos is the gold standard.
Best professor you can have for 307. Class is not mandatory, but she does give pop quizzes which do not factor into your overall grade. She gives great career advice outside of class. If you read textbook right before exams it is a guaranteed A. Honestly, I love her so much pls take her class.
I have fond memories of excitedly walking to Miriam's marketing class. About how many classes can you say the same?! She is so caring & is willing to help her students so much it's inspiring. She is easily in the top 0.01% of the kindest and most caring people you will ever meet. Not enough good things can be said. Her actions speak for themselves!
GREAT 307 prof. Midterm was tough. Will go out of her way to help with internship applications, give interview advice etc. Gives you her cell number and you can text her. Just DON'T complain to this prof about your grade!! SHE will be polite, but will refer you to some "department committee" who will for sure LOWER your grade beware!!
Professor Burgos is such a gem within Marshall! She's super passionate about the topic no matter what business area you want to pursue, brings in industry professionals with internship opportunities, and has great industry experience herself. Her class is very fair and entails a midterm, group project, and final. She was very accommodating. Da best
Professor Burgos was such a sweet 304 professor. She was always so accommodating to meet especially during the switch to online classes. She is always positive and cares so much about her students and making sure everyone is on the same page, never wants you to be overwhelmed with work, and is willing to meet out of class. Take her class!!!!
She's one of the best professors in I had during my time at USC. Even after I graduated for years and I emailed her for some marketing questions, she helped me a lot even though I didn't participate with her much. 5/5
Provides great, practical information for MBA students.
No textbook but great readings every week, posted in Blackboard course site. Great prof. Co-teaches this course with another faculty member, Prof Beth Wellman. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Cutting edge area that no other Marshall course offers. GIS applications in Marketing; very useful course.
Gives great practical marketing advice for working professionals, whether they are in Marketing or not. Would recommend!
Very practical class with just enough work not too much. Prof has industry experience. Very accessible outside of class for students wanting to pivot into marketing career.
Doesn't use textbooks; Posts all pre-readings on course website. Great course. Weekly workshops, very practical. This is a GIS analytics class. Great prof. Coteaches class with another prof (also would recommend). Overall a great experience, very applicable, great for your resume. WOULD recommend!
This MKT is co-taught between Prof Burgos and another faculty, Prof Wellman. Great class. A few issues with software at the beginning of class, but be patient and they are very accessible to assist. Cutting edge topic, GREAT guest speakers. WOULD recommend, great course.
Great course. Real-world application in my own profession as a working professional.
A top course in MKT at Marshall. Attended an event yesterday and found out the course name was changed to MKT 568. Would recommend! Only issue is, the class relies so much on attendance that missing a class can harm your grade but worth it. Skill for resume.
THIS COURSE CHANGED NUMBERS and is now MKT 568 the professor told us this at the first class session. Excellent first class. Prof is very accessible outside of class. My own professional marketing background is not strong, so the prof generously scheduled a very long office hours session to prep me. So far great class.
MKT 568 is course name but RMP doesn't give option to select that. I'm in MKT 568 with Prof Burgos, co-taught with Prof Wellman. Excellent course, wish more courses were this practical at Marshall. Would highly recommend. Software setup can be time-consuming, but GREAT class that I am regularly using and applying at work in business development
MKT568 now, the GIS course. Excellent prof who co-teaches course with another excellent prof Beth Wellman from Keck. So much practical application of material from this course to my career in CRE. Takes somewhat long to grade assignments, but grading and point system are clear and generous. Top learning experience at Marshall, WOULD recommend.
Outstanding professor. Boils down complex concepts very clearly. Would highly recommend. Incorporates technology into her courses. Excellent faculty member in USC's online MBA. Grades on just a few things, which makes it difficult to earn a solid grade, but worth it anyway.
Excellent course. Now 568 not 599. Final exam is difficult so prep carefully. Course truly conveys what a game changer GIS skillsets can be for your career. Depth of the data is impressive. Overall the project is graded very heavily in my opinion. But overall this is a great course, would absolutely recommend.
Very useful course. Would recommend for any grad student. Excellent, excellent prof; no outdated cases or textbooks, very applicable cases that were relevant to my internship. This course is now MKT 568; formerly MKT 599. Would recommend.
Content is directly applicable to my work. This course is a ton of work but worth it. Would recommend. Some sessions are dry but it's the nature of the material. Overall excellent experience. Select your team with care, you will work with them for several weeks on major assignments. This used to be MKT 599 but is now MKT 568, same exact course.
Clearly explained topics and calculations, metrics in ways that made them all applicable in my corporate role as well as in my entrepreneurial work. CLV lecture was somewhat dry but still a very useful part of the course for MBA students aspiring to leadership roles. Has corporate experience, consulting experience. Overall A+ faculty member!!
MKT 568. I found out about this GIS course with Burgos when it was still MKT 599. It's now MKT 568 but couldn't be selected here. Course gives you a totally new skillset that will differentiate you in this incredibly competitive job market. Some of the more technical demos are dry. But excellent overall, would recommend. Excellent prof.
Used this topic to stand out in interviews for internships. GIS and location analytics are all over the place in business but few know how to truly use it. Some lectures are slightly dry, like when covering some of the data analysis, but that was fine and comes with the territory. Among the most useful courses at Marshall. Take it, would recommend!
Excellent course, very engaging prof. Topics are directly relevant to industry, which is useful for our MBA classmates since we are working professionals and this course is PRACTICAL. Strongly recommend this prof. Midterm is very long, beware. But excellent course, with a prof who cares. Very accessible outside of class to offer career advice also.
