The worst profesor in the campus.I strongly recommend to avoid taking her class.I was recommnded not take her class but when i did she started grading from "D".She even told students to drop the class amid the semester.
TRY NOT TO TAKE HER CLASS. SHE WILL MAKE U SICK.
She is very mean and is not willing to help her students. She doesn't recognize her faults if she made one(example when she didn't grade correctly a paper). I'am sorry to say this but she is a B.
I learned a lot in her classes. but it is true that she will try to intimidate you once in a while
If you want to be happy do not take classes with her! Even thought she is good teacher, it is very difficult to bear her angryness. She is all the time intimidating students.

She was great except that if you don't follow her directions, then you will fail. Take her class because you walk out knowing a lot about English. Students like things the easy way and just because she isn't easy, she becomes the "bad" professor. Thats why many student writings are not so great. With her, your writing becomes good.I loved her class

She is so AWFUL!!! I was actually looking forward to EN 101A and when I went to the first day of class, my first thought was what a cute little old lady, she is difficult, cranky, hard grader. Take my advice, DO NOT TAKE HER CLASS!!!

Okaay teacher, just be prepare to do lots of lots of homeworks.. homework grade will defenitely help you out otherwise very unpredictable teacher.. my advise look for someone else better than her no matter what course you are in.

Unreasonable and demanding, criticizing students without ANY help to correct mistakes. There were 15 students in our class, and only 4 people passed it with "C"
I wish I had looked at her ratings prior to taking the class. I struggled with her class from day one. None of my papers statisfied her. I would not recommend taking her class, unless you want to write your tail off. This is a remedial class for Pete's sake.
I enjoyed this class because I learned a lot especially that I missed one year of school. She's a good professor, she cares about her students and their success .don't get me wrong , I'm a lazy person with doing work but u gotta wake up and this is college I'm pretty sure there are other professors out there that give out a lot more homework .
She is very moody therefore consequences follow....She told me she would fail me since day one and she did... If you want to FAIL you can go ahead and register; however I DO NOT RECOMMEND HER, She is the WORST Teacher EVER

Her organizing skill is so horrible, that she say she isn't at fault. She give work a day ahead rater than a week ahead up. The problem is that she doesn't help us, but rather expect us to get the work done. I know that it college, but I don't expect her type of attitude toward the student by giving a lecture on the wrongs.
Her organization skill is below. Given student motherly lecture throughout the class. Respect for the student hardly. Not a highly good teacher to be with. Day behind sometime on giving out work and blaming us not sending her e-mails. Doesn't earn trust with her student mostly.

This was the first class I ever took in Montgomery College and I am glad I did. Very important class to take if you want to learn how to write anything college level. Professor Simon is sweet and she cares. I recommend taking her class and taking it seriously.
Great teacher. Amazing lectures, always available during her office hours, shes a very tough grader though she gives good feedbacks as well. Also be prepared to use the textbook very often. Attendance matters for sure. I'll recommend her if youre taking Eng 101A . Best of luck
Good Professor. Shes a very tough grader just putting it out there. Get ready to use your textbook a lot and do lots of homework. Shes accessible out of class and she warns you on the first day of class that if you dont like her class during the time as she teaches you should drop out. other than that shes a good person overall and willing to help

I took this class and it was the worst thing ever. She is the ONLY professor who will give you an actual midterm and final while other professor give you a grade based off your essay. She grades your essay like if you had 20 years of writing essays. You can't tell her anything because she will SCREAM out your problems, very sarcastic.
The amount of tests that she assigned was overwhelming and really hard. She was the only professor who gave tests and quizzes. She failed me by one point. I couldnt recommend anyone taking this class.
She was one of my worst professors at Montgomery College. She is a very tough grader. I dont recommend you to take her class if your not a native English speaker. She grades your papers as if you have been studying English for years.
Miriam Simon is the best English professor I've ever had because she takes care of her students. She further gives consistent feedback that helps improve students' work.
I considerably improved my writings while taking Miriam Simon's classes. She is very committed and gives good, helpful feedback to her students. I highly recommend her to other students because after taking her class, they'll undoubtedly acknowledge that they've had a good and fantastic experience while working with her.
Professor Simon is a wonderful instructor who is one of the few that truly cares about the success of her students. She has help many students over come struggles with her positive and encouraging words.
Great teacher. Lectures are great, she always available and gives great feedback. you will use the textbook often she wants you to get your money's worth. If you know you won't be able to make it to class let her know Communication is Key , She always makes sure you understand the material before you leave class , if you don't get it say something
I took this class during my first semester at MC. It was so stressful worst of all if english is not your first language don't take her. She is so strict i can't emphasize it enough. Not to talk of grading she is very hard but give good feedbacks.
Prof. Simon is amazing. I took her online class, and turned in papers late, but once I emailed her about it (which she always responds to in minutes) she graded and gave me full credit. Could have gotten an A, but missed some assignments, so it's really all on you. SUPER SWEET!
Not many people can take how she teach, but she really is great teacher! she teaches good and she checks on her students! I would take her again
for my first semester during Covid-19 and taking online classes, Prof. Simon was an okay professor. She often complains/nags a lot when students don't come to class prepared or that didn't complete what she said to do. she's also kinda picky with her writing, MLA format, etc. but other than that she offers help, answers emails and provides feedback
If you value happiness and your mental state DO NOT TAKE THIS WOMAN. She nags for days about students not coming to class and almost belittles you when she's talking to you. She is not clear AT ALL and will have you rewriting one paper 4 times. I usually do great in English and she ruined that.
Professor Simon was an amazing Lit Professor. We read some great pieces of literature, and the class site is easy to navigate. She is accessible outside of class and responds to emails in seconds. Put in the work, and you will be rewarded with a good grade. Also, if something is difficult, ask the professor! She's always willing to set up a Zoom.
Prof. Simon is great teacher who is always willing to help. She provides many resources for you to use to pass the Class and is even willing to go outside of office hours. I do wish she taught less with the slides and videos and assigned assignemnts other than essay's. But she makes up for all that with her compassion, undertsanding, and support.
I love this woman! Professor Simon is extremely kind and helpful. She goes above and beyond to make sure you pass and earn good grades. She recognizes and rewards you for your efforts. She can sometimes be confusing, but ask questions and shell clear it up. Its a lot of work, but she will be by your side every step of the way.
I highly recommend not taking this class with her!!!!! She is highly unprofessional and she nags about students about not doing their assignments when she overloads u with work. She is never clear with directions of assignments and will make you rewrite your essay 4 times. If you take this class prepare yourself with mental breakdowns and stress.
Very sweet. Prof S cares about her students and wants them to do good. However she has high standards for her kids and when they don't meet them she can get quite frustrated and a bit rude. I had an 8am class and she would always give us long lectures for not always doing what we were asked for. Other than that she is very kind and always available
Miriam Simon is an awful teacher. She is tech illiterate and conceited. There have have been two instances where she has not shown to class, with no prior explanations. While I can't speak for in-person classes, avoid her remote classes. A McDonald's employee has more intellect than this woman.
Professor Simon may not be for everyone, but I had an excellent experience in her accelerated class. If you put in the work and follow directions, you can easily pass this class. shes a tough grader but provides feedback on areas that need improvement.
Wouldn't talk to my own kids the way she talks to students. Very rude. Bad enough some of us have to work after her class and get crap but from your professor too? No txs! Tough grader! Extremely tough grader! Talks & treats you like you're stupid. Unnecessary stress. Take care for your mental health & avoid! Be warned kids. And adults stay clear!

I wouldn't recommend you take her if English is not your first language, she makes weird comments about it. She does not give extensions or second chances. She encourages students to ask questions but don't ask because she will make you feel bad. Her grading criteria is so bad. Take her at your own risk.
Professor Simon is a tough grader. She never gives specific feedback of how to improve your writing. She comments be careful or weak topic sentence but never gives examples of how to improve your work. She is disrespectful with her comments. Her course syllabus was cut/paste from 2 years ago.The course outline is difficult to follow. Do NOT take!
Let me just say this she is RUDE, unconsiderate, and disrespectful. Her feedbacks are unclear and instead of motivating you she puts you down by making you feel dumb. LOTS of busy work but does not grade majority of them. Take her class at your own risk.

I would recommend taking this course with another professor, especially if you are doing a late start class. Essays are due back to back with little time in between, and there's little to no feedback on drafts from professor so when it's time to submit your final essay, you get what you get and hope the writing center's feedback is helpful enough.
Best English professor I've had! She takes feedback from students very well! I once asked her if she could make her feedback on my work clearer and she created a little checklist for me! I highly recommend this professor for anyone who is struggling grammatically and anyone who wants to build their communication skills!

Do not take her class unless that is the only option that fits your schedule or wait for next the semester to take ENGL 101. She doesn't give out the tentative schedule, so you always find out what is due within the week when you go to class.

Probably the worst teacher I've ever had. Very tech illiterate, slow with grading and putting assignments, very anti-Grammarly and AI for some reason. Can be rude. She got mad at a student for missing class due to work and threatened to call the work for not allowing the student to be present. Please run from her.

She gives a lot of grammar to help us write better essays, and you get easy points for grammar homework. She is a strict grader because we have the option to see her and go to a tutor for help. Since she uses an AI detector for essays, she grades slow. She gives second chances to reach the grade average 70%. She gives good feedback so ask for help.
I can't say enough how horrible she is. I'm in her class currently and she is genuinely one of the worst teachers I've ever had. She will write out criteria and once you do the assignment, say you didn't follow criteria but WONT SAY WHY. I was so careful about the final essay and followed every single rule, and it was “AI” so I got an F.

For your mental health, I highly recommend not taking this class. I was accused of using AI on two essays. She indirectly told me that word editor is considered AI, so for my third essay, I turned off word editor, but was still accused. She doesn't show any proof of AI usage and she will find a way to make you wrong. DONT TAKE HER CLASS.
Worst teacher I've ever had. She falsely accused me of using AI without providing any proof. She refuses to use AI detection tools because she believes she can tell on her own. Extremely unhelpful and condescending. Avoid this class if you actually want to learn anything.
The absolute worst professor I have encountered in my lifetime. I don't even know where to start. How about the extensive amount of sarcasm used all the time? What saddens me even more is that she brings the race and politics up whenever she can. “If you are not a white cis male, you can't rely on AI writing to make it in life”. Disgraceful.
This class was a unique experience. She holds very high expectations for student work while also being suspicious of any good work. She is smart and has the potential to be a very good professor, but struggles with organization and timely grading, and her vendetta against AI usage tends to cause collateral damage for students who don't use it.
Miriam constantly was rude and condescending. She often talked down to students and purposely failed majority of the students that were in my class at the time. Lady was on a power trip. I'd strongly suggest choosing another instructor.
I took her class for ENGL 101 and wanted to keep a teacher that knew me. However, I regretted taking her class because she grades slow but expects top notch work with no mistakes. If you have no choice but to register for her class, always participate, ask questions and use her zoom office hours because she doesn't rush and gives better feedback.

I took professor Simon's Eng102 course over the summer and found her incredibly present and helpful! She really helped me through the writing process and was able to keep me on course. Participation really matters in her course, so please speak up when you can!

Prof. Simon is a good person, and I appreciate her perspective on activism in our classroom. It's her most redeeming quality that she cares about social justice and is very vocal. However, most of the time she feels like a grandma waving her finger in your face, telling you that you're wrong. She can be pretty abrasive. She's a tough grader.
She was condescending, making it extremely difficult for students to succeed. By mid-semester, over half the class had dropped out due failing or doing poor on every assignment. She poorly timed assignments and rarely gave above a 75 on essays, most her students ended with a C or failed. only 2 students ended with a B and none ended with an A.
THE WORST EVER. If you want a smooth sailing semester do not take her class. She will let u redo assignments that u received a poor grade on only to not grade it until lightyears later. She really needs to retire. AI has become so prominent she thinks everything is AI. I couldn't get a break with her.
