Great teacher. She made it fun to learn Spanish. Very understanding and works well with students.
She is a easy teacher, with not a lot of work. She is a little bit hard to understand. Will work with you and is very helpful.
just do your work study and participate and youll be fine. she's funny but sometimes hard to understand through her accent. a very nice person i would definetly take her for spn1110 and spn1120

She has a strong accent and sometimes hard to understand. She is patient with you learning Spanish. She doesn't give you to much work either.
Horrible teacher! very unclear. Sometimes she'll forget to give a class homework, then the next class she'll think she did and ask for the assignment. She gets upset and even though she made a mistake, she will not give anyone credit. Bad! Bad! Professor
not a course for the beginner..more like total immersion. be prepared to be lost, better yet, like speed spanish. Professor is nice but course is very hard if you have never taken spanish before. yes, there is a lot of work if this is your first. labs, ugh
Senora Zidovec is one of the finest instructors I have encountered during my time at FCCJ. I would recommend her to anyone who actually wants to learn to speak spanish.
This instruction is good. Has a tendency to let students dictate lecture with unrelated questions, but she is patient helpful and nice. This course was sort of advanced for beginners I think but, yes I would reccommend her to any other student looking for a spanish instructor.
The best Spanish teacher ever! Her class is so fun and interesting and she will do whatever she can to help you. She does not require a whole lot of homework. Her main focus is the importance of the student learning how to use the language. Test are not that bad either. Highly reccomended.
I enjoyed Prof Zidovec so much I took her for Spanish 2 as well. She is very helpful and makes learning Spanish very interesting and fun. She will help you during her office hours if you need extra help. Highly reccommended.
I took this class a couple of years ago and had problems throughout. I talked with her prior to class really beginning about a possible work conflict and she said we would work it out, she reniged on that, went to the Dean of languages and because her syllabus was so precise couldn't do anything.
she is a nice lady, but as a professor she is arrogant and needs to lighten up. do not come late, do not leave early and please do not talk when she is speaking and you'll be fine.
She is so so..
She is great! I took her again as an elective because she is clear and concise. Her only drawback is that she teaches Spanish with an Argentine accent. This makes the "ll" sound like an english "J" and not a "Y" She is extremely clear on her assignments and when they are due.
She is REALLY confusing!! All the work is done online and she is unclear about what parts she wants you to work on, TONS of work TONS!!! be prepared to drop all your other classes to pass this one.. AVOID AT ALL COSTS
U have 2 stay on this woman if u are brave enough 2 take her. Just reading her syllabus is hard becuase each page says something different is req. And thing will often get "lost in the translation" when u are talking to her. Dont take her if u dont have 2. If u do stay on her back about your grades.
La no me gusta. She got mad when a student didn't know how to make a sentence. RUDE. Professor Font is far better!!
She has by far been the worst teacher I have had since being at FCCJ. Her accent is so very difficult to understand. Her tests are so very hard and long. She very difficult to get along with. FCCJ has some wonderful spanish teachers I think that with the Dr. in front of her name makes her thing that she is the best professor they have. NOT!!!!
If you are a slacker then read all of the ones above. This teacher is very good! She does not put up with people that still think that they are in highschool. If you want to learn spanish take her! There is alot of lab work, but that goes for all of the spanish classes. Go check your grade in her office at midterm, and she will like you! Chau.
I did not like her at the end. I was doing very well in the beginning, passing her tests and doing my homework. The one thing I hated was the lab work. I didn't care that there was any, but the lab tutors treated you like crap. They acted like if you pronounced a word wrong, you were stupid. She picked them out.
she is an easy grader but won't remember your name, what you may have spoken about last class... or really understand you.
This teacher is a TRUE teacher. She is respectful even when students are rude and disrespectful. She really wants you to understand, and tries to give students more than just a language, but also an understanding of culture. If you let her be the teacher, and have the desire to learn, you will excel. And the tutors are wonderful, especially Maria.
I took her for Spanish 2 and 3, and she was good at explaining grammatically. Her tests are long though. Also, she focuses on writing rather than speaking. I liked the fact that she did not play favorites at all. She was harsh, but very fair unlike Enrique Barquinero.
A good teacher. However, she gives a LOT of lab work and home work, so be prepared to devote time. Also, this course moves quickly, and requires lots of studying in order to pass. But... she is a very good teacher! Very nice and easy to talk to! I highly recommend taking her class!
a GREAT teacher. Of course, there is a lot of homework/lab work. Be prepared to study and review alot, and work hard. But as a person, she is nice and easy-going, and makes class as enjoyable as possible. I RECOMMEND HER highly. :]
Honestly, this class was much tougher than I had anticipated. There is a lot of work, but if you do all the work and participate in class, you will make a good grade. I understand so much more about the spanish culture than I ever have before. She was pretty easy going, but you should definitely be prepared each week. I'll take her again!
I hated this class. It is supposed to be a spanish ONE class but if you dont know spanish then dont take it. She went so fast and was not helpful at all. I spent so many hours at the language lab and ended up with a bad grade when I studied and tried so hard. Definitely do NOT recommend her. I didnt even really learn anything.Really expensive books
Worst teacher ever!! Never mentions assignments except in syllubus. Group project that was 15% of grade was not mentioned until one week before it was due. Rude if you don't understand something. Unhelpful and IF you can find her in her office during office hours she might still brush you off to do something with one of her multicultural clubs.
This teacher is one of the worst at FCCJ. Rude and if you don't understand her, forget it. Would never say when assignments were due and was late to class consistently. Didn't mention the final project (15% of grade) until week before it was due. She will tell you to stick to the 2 inch thick syllabus, but never follows it herself.Do not take!!
i liked her at first, she seemed nice and understanding, but it was an act. the way she acted the first week was COMPLETELY different from how she really was. She is very forgetful and never talks about assignments before they are due. she doesnt explain things well and blames you for not knowing it. not very understanding of personal issues either
wow this women lol let me just say outside of class she is really nice and informational. I learned more outside talking to her one on one then what I did in class. She does overload you with work, homework and expects you to have it all done. Have to agree w/the other comment if you don't know something well you should. Not what I was wanting. :(
She is a great teacher. Others in class will make her mad if they are not serious. Only take the class if you want to learn. A lot of work but if you actually want to learn you need to do the work. Sets expectations the first day of class. Crystal clear on expectations!! I am taking her again!!
I really did not like this teacher. I took her in 2005 and still remember how awful she was. She made fun of several people in class. She was difficult to understand and she didn't understand her students. She talked more about her son than the lesson at hand. I unfortunately didn't pass because of the tests that weren't based on homework.
She gets irritated at you if you don't pick up fast enough for her. She's rude and impatient. I wouldn't take her again if you paid me.
I think she is good teacher, she would get mad if people did know the material. She tolerated to much disrespect, If i had been the teacher i would have told allot of the students to leave the classroom. This teacher gives you allot of work and she grades tests very generously. So if you don't mind doing a little extra work then take her.
I would NOT recommend this teacher. She is hard to understand, not helpful, and doesn't stick to her syllabus. Expects you to know stuff she hasn't taugh and has no problem testing on lessons she never taught. Don't take.
Asigns ALOT of homework. Has an Argentinian accent
She is uncompromising about tests. She smakes short, sarcastic comments when students present her with legitamite reasons for having missed a test. She thinks she has all the answers mapped out in her syllabus. She does not. She is bad with test dates. She does not know a substantial amount of math.
this is a tough course if you don't have a good 2-3 hours a week outside of class to tackle all of the assignments she gives. don't get caught on your cell in her class
I don't think she understood enough english to be teaching. It was painful to sit in class and listen to her try and explain something. She never stuck to the syllabus, the test would have stuff she didn't teach, and she would assign hw and never collect it. Basically you have to teach yourself spanish if you take this teacher. She was the worst.
If you like to put hour after hour into doing Spanish work, and you are up to the challenge in Beginning Spanish. If so, then Dr. Zidovec is the professor for you.
HARD! TEACHES SPANISH LIKE YOU ALREADY KNOW HOW TO SPEAK IT PRIOR TO HER CLASS.
She is a good professor and is more than willing to help you. If you have accommodations, she will really go out of her way to help you pass her class. I had her for Humanities and Spanish. For Spanish, it is hard, but you will pass if you study and practice. Her Humanities, is not too hard as long as you pay attention and attend class daily.
If you want to really learn Spanish, take her class. She is a very good Spanish professor. She will push you to the limits. Lots of homework, quizzes and tests. There is also a presentation, stricly in Spanish. Did I mention to take her if you really want to learn Spanish?
I enrolled in this course along with four others for my first semester. This has got to be a new student's nightmare. I would not recommend this teacher to anybody, even as punishment. Her language skills are highly poor, she does not follow the syllabus, and gives INSANE amounts of homework. She also has secret homework she likes to drop on you!
More homework than my A&P class. You have some much homework to do and apparently I should already speak spanish. Good luck cause half failed
She was very helpful. I felt that her riorous wrk prepared me for Spanish II
If you don't already speak FLUENT Spanish. DO NOT take this class. I tried to hard when i started the class and everyone, EVERYONE but me already spoke spanish. The class is at a accelerated pace. I had to drop it cus I got so far behind. It was AWFUL. And the teacher, she was terrible, and rude. SO rude. I will never take her again.
Dr. Z. was pretty tough, but she knows her stuff. A lot of ppl. are saying she's rude. This IS college after all. Many professors are like that. She lays down the ground rules and expects you to follow them. I personally enjoyed the challenge in her class. She is by no means EASY, but you will DEFINITELY learn Spanish! :)
Do not take this class! It's a struggle to keep good grades. Between hardly understanding what the professor is actually is saying and all the ridiculous homework assignments, I highly do not recommend this class for anyone.
Prof. Zidovec is a good teacher. She has an accent which, while I found easy to hear through- others did find problems. If you do the homework, study for the midterm, and do the essays you will walk away.I was taken aback when I found out it was a Latin America course- it was her own little twist to the course but she made it interesting. Reccomend
I would not recommend her, she is an easy grader but the mountains of work that she assigns are not necessary. Plus her accent can get very hard to understand after listening to for a while.
This professor will give you a lot of homework and papers to write. Two books are required to be read. Be sure to study for the midterm and final. Her accent can make it be very difficult to understand. Lectures are all over the place too. If you are not into Latin America, dislike reading and writing papers do not take this course.
Great professor and a really easy grader.
Her class overall was easy, but she herself is hard to deal with. Not because of her accent, I understood her clearly. You basically have to stare at her the entire class period without moving to make her happy. She locked two people out of class for going to the bathroom, and marked them absent though they were on time for class.
She's a great teacher always there when you needed help from her. The tests are not too many, but you always have to study hard. The partcipation always matters and usually fun.
I have her for Latin American History. She gives too much HW. I have either 40 questions that take 4 hours and an essay. Or in class work that she gives last minute. We have a group projects with no in class time. And a large analytic paper based off a 400 page book. I do all the work but feel as if I'm learning nothing. Its too much. Avoid.
If you love yourself please don't take this class. The work load is a lot and although she grades easily (for the most part) it got to the point at the end of the semester when I just didn't care. She will treat you like you're still in high school and won't even allow you to go to the bathroom(she locked two kids out of class). Avoid if you can.
there is too much homework for this class. I couldn't believe it was this much. One assignment was due over a holiday break. Quizzes taken were not related to the content studied for. A lot of confusion... didn't go according to the syllabus and didn't answer question regarding discussions that were for the "teacher".
All CONS! Not interested in assisting students timely at all. Poor CommunicationDirections QuizzesTests? NO INSTRUCTIONS PROVIDED ANYWHERE! (tests cover CH's not listed). Skype? You can request her 20 times, still no reply & your FINAL is basically via Skype. Homework due DAILY in MySpanLab, Other BB assigns. Due mostly Th, Fr, some Sa & Su.
I took this class online. The only complaint I really had with this was the schedule in which work was due. I guess it could be called laziness on my part, but everything just seemed so staggered. Other than that, I had no issues. Just put everything in your calendar and really pay attention to when things are due.
BASICALLY IT'S TOUGH!! If you aren't a hard worker, then this class is NOT for you!! You really need to be on top of your game. She is passionate about this subject so makes you try to relate your life to what you are learning. TESTS ARE HARDDDDDDD, PAPERS ARE A BUNCH AND THEIR LONG!!!! You have to read a book and write a paper on it... UHHHH :(
Dr. Zidovec is a great Spanish professor. I enjoyed learning the basics from her. We had 5 grammar & speaking chapter exams, 1 group presentation & oral interview that are part of the final exam. Of course there is weekly online homework and you must spend a minimum of 1 hr per week in the lab. She answers email promptly and helps you if you ask.
You will have 5 papers to write, they take hours to write. One is based on a book that you have to read. Her midterm and final are very difficult and require DAYS OF STUDYING. Her lectures can be very boring :( The group project can be difficult since you have to work outside of the class. You will have 15 study assignments based on the reading :(
Don't ask her questions, no answers. Don't expect help, you won't get it. You'll learn more from a computer.
Class is okay, not that hard you just have to do EVERY assignment if you want a good grade. Study questions are due every Sunday. You only have two essays then a final essay, she is a very tough grader in essays. Gives opportunity for extra credit but only a few times so take it when you have the chance.
As long you do the weekly homework and get started on the group early you'll be fine.
This teacher is hard to understand while she gives lectures, also if you try to check the time on your phone, she will treat you like a high schooler. She has also locked students out for using the restroom which surprised me because we are human, and humans use the restroom. If you hate your life, take this class.
I am currently taking her for HUM 2020. I am drowning in this class, she just piles the work on and doesnt stop. I told her i was going ot of town FOR A FUNERAL, and she required me to bring in my plane tickets, proof i am related to the person who died, and proof i attended a funeral. Like the person said below, take this class if you hate yourself
I have an A in her class so far, but you really have to work for it. The HW is not hard, the answers are found in the textbook, it's just a LOT but she is an easy grader. There are 1-2 papers for homework every week. Make sure to have read before class/paying attn, she puts students on the spot!!
Her class is basically ALL notes. It's not interesting unless you're really into Latin American history. A set of questions every week, 3 essays over the period of the course, and a group project. Easy grader on the essays. We WERE NOT told anything at all about the project until about 5 days before it was due. I don't recommend her class at all.
You were WARNED if you take her class, you will be teaching yourself. Accent is very thick and impossible at time. She is German and speaks Spanish and English so it is very hard to understand her. You will have to meet with a Spanish tutor once a wk for 1hr and 15 mins and complete worksheet with the tutor.
I had emailed her on two separate occasions pertaining to my grade, she forgot to respond both times. I had to send separate emails to remind her to reply. I don't mind the loads of homework, but when she isn't responding to my questions and concerns about the homework, I start to have an issue with that. I wouldn't recommend taking her.
I've never rated a professor before, but Professor Zidovec is SO BAD that I had to warn everyone else. I signed up without checking here first, and what a mistake. She doesn't let you leave for the bathroom, you are not allowed to be tardy (in the syllabus she literally says come on time or not at all), and she's incredibly rude and confusing
Her accent is thick, and difficult to follow at times. Homework assignments take hours to complete, as they are multiple per week, and all short paragraph answer format with as many as 20 questions each. Answers are not always easy to find in the provided text. Tons of required reading. Don't take this class if you like having a life.
DO NOT TAKE HER FOR SPANISH! If you are considering her class, I'm warning you do not take her. There is a ton of work. She told me all assignments were due Tuesday but they are due close to everyday, so I got half credit for all the late work. It's hard enough learning spanish, but when you have to teach it to yourself via computer it's impossible
Dr. Zidovic is a tough grader. She is very knowledgeable and cares about her students. She just expects a lot. I won't take her again, but I did learn from her. She gave homework every week including spring break.
So far, my college experience so far all of my professors have been caring and helpful with all the obstacles ofcollege. I wish I could say the same for Ms. Zidovec. The learning part of the class was pretty difficult because you're learning it on your own. She didnt care about any real-life situation you had, nor about any questions, she's strict.
She doesn't give much wiggle room when it comes to grading. She assigns many homework assignments, packets, and online assignments from textbooks and other readings. She gives lectures every single second of the hour and 15 minutes of class. If you don't do well on the quizzes and tests, you will not pass, even if you ace the homework.
I took SPC 2017 with her and it was very hard. She treats her students like native speakers When I didn't know anything about Spanish I was asked to listen, write, and talk very well only in three months. Also, the way she responds to emails is terrible, she usually copies and pastes what she already has written in her announcement.
I don't recommend taking any Spanish class online. Unless you already know Spanish it's basically impossible as you have to learn the language yourself and the tests are worth so much of the grade. It feels like a 6 credit class instead of 4.
I came in thinking I would learn the rich history of Latin America, instead what I got was a bunch of warm ups and having to submit the same assignment 3 times for ever assignments. You will be teaching your self for the exams as she doesn't even tell you what's on it until a week before.
She's a nice woman, but a terrible teacher. What she teaches in the lectures does not usually pertain to the readings she assigns just about every week. You can basically teach yourself the material just from reading the book. It was difficult to understand her heavy accent, which means communication was difficult because of the language barrier.
Ok so we have a final outline for an essay due TONIGHT. And felt the need to write about it. She has not mentioned the essay or the outline in the slightest in class or announcement or email. All it says is final essay outline: slavery. That's it. No description or what to write about. How can I submit this if you don't tell me what to write about?
I've never had such a difficult teacher. She lectures about nonsense and she doesn't know how to teach. She counted me absent for 3 days straight when I was attending class. All of her assignments are pointless and ridiculous. I received a D on my essay when everything was in correct order and never received a response why.
If you like being disrespected and treated like a child then this is the class for you. Shes a little hard to understand, doesnt really give feed back and if you try to show her something she talks over you and doesnt listen to you. Good luck
Very demanding, everyday assignments, borderline rude, way to many assignments and video responses to topics. Stay away from this professor. She overloads everything, way to fast for progressive learning.
Do not take this professor, even if she is the only one you are able to sign up for! This was my dilemma and I regret signing up for this professor. She gives out A LOT of work that requires a good amount of critical thinking. Over half of our class dropped after the first two weeks. She also asks for 3 finals: Paper, Group Project, and an Exam.
This class is very hard, as you have lots of assignments given, short time to complete them. There are 3 huge final assignments, a group project, an essay, and a final exam. Doesn't give specifics on assignments, basically here you go, do it. Very hard to figure out what she expects. Never returns emails or answers questions in class.
There is atleast one assignment due every weekend. Therefore It is a bit of a heavy workload, but not hard to pass if you stay on top of the work and turn them in on time. Answers for assignments are easy to find or are opinion-based. No tests other than Midterm and Final. If you pay attention you the concept, and that's all you need.
Multiple assignments a week, from reading and answering questions to watching hour long videos that you have to answer questions on. Grades on attendance. Work isn't necessarily hard just alot, almost impossible to have time to do if you have a job. Shows no passion in subject just reads off PowerPoints, Requires participation calls on people.
She talks herself in circles and more than half of time spent in online class is spent watching her not know how to use Microsoft Word or any other programs on her computer. For people who like a fast-paced structure, like me, it is hard to keep your brain in the lesson because of how slow she teaches. Her class is also a very hostile environment.
The class itself is very difficult, one of the hardest I've taken out of about 30 classes. Lots of homework and the exams are difficult. Class participation was 20 percent of your grade so that helps. The professor overall was good in terms of explaining the content and she was a very sweet lady. The online format via VHL was well put together.
No flexibility at all, would not recommend, barely stayed awake during the lectures, save yourself from stress and pick a different professor
