She is a good teacher, teaches straight from the textbook. Uses mymath lab for homework, gives quizes online, and in class activities. The test reviews is pretty much like the test. She take a long time to grade test maybe a week after you took the test to post the grade.
I took this teacher in the summer && got an A. she is very helpful if you show up to class , she also gives extra credit on test && allows you to fix your mistakes for points. highly recommended.
Do not take the combination pre-calc/trig class with this woman unless you meet one or more of the following criteria: a. do not have a full time job, b. are taking this class and this calss only, c. are excellent at learning from text books, d. are an absolute genius in math.
I took her for both trig and pre calc and she is really good. then again I'm a math person but she is always available and she will drop the lowest test grade. she always make sure you understand and if you could find her during her office hours she will help you out. I highly recommend.
I had her class for the summer course (which is a condensed class). She had to cram 16 weeks INTO a 10 week course. She took special attention to be as clear as possible on every concept. If anyone in the class "didn't get it," she didn't make that person feel stupid, instead she reframed the info to help it make more sense. Very patient with class
I highly reccommend this teacher for any algebra courses. She is extremely helpful, and never looses her patience on her students. She will drop your worst test grade. Uses mathlab for homework(a ton of HW). one word of advice though. NEVER take this course in the summer, it is insanely demanding. New topics everyday confuse you during test day.
M. V is an excellent teacher, she wants you to past the class. She is always available to explain after or before class. I understand her way of teaching, her ways is your success . She care for every student in the class. I will recommand her to all, she is a wonderful teacher. She always make you believe in your ability. I love her EXCELLENT!
Ms.V is simply AMAZING!!! I'm horrible at math but her teaching technique definitely works for me. I just took her this summer and passed with an A :o). I'm absolutely taking her for College Algebra.
I took Professor Vorder Bruegge for Pre-Calculus, but recently had her sub for several classes for my Calc II class. She is an excellent young teacher. If you ever have a question, absolutely don't hesitate to ask - she will try her best to help. She is also a very generous grader. She assigned a fair amount of HW, but that is important to be good.
had her for pre cal..now have her for trig..She is a great professor! Gives lots of oppurtunity for good grades..and very willing to help! Recommend!
For me, Misty moved fast. Other classmates loved her though! She does explain if you ask. Doesn't make you feel like you are an idiot or anything, which is a plus unlike other professors. The Pre-Calculus+Trig class combined intense to me&I like math too! But then again I haven't done math since high school yrs ago. Online homework+quizzes.
Very good teacher, she makes sure every student in her class understands the material, she won't make you feel dumb if you have any questions.
wonderful, gives extra credit and explains how to work problems in different ways :)
Math is definitely not my strongest subject, but Ms. V was an amazing teacher. I took the Summer class and although it was tough, her teaching skills were awesome! I definitely feel prepared for the next math class. I would highly recommend her!
Good teacher, goes over problems very thoroughly and will help you if there are any problems. Uses mymathlab and everything on her tests she goes over in class...so nothing out of the blue!
If you need to take the Pre - Cal/Trig dual class, Ms. V is the way to go. She's an amazing teacher and is clear on what she's looking for. Her tests are based on her lecture problems, so go to class and you should have no problem acing everything. Plus, she's really nice and UNDERSTANDS the difficulty of the class itself and makes it easy on you.
All the good comments about Ms. V are true. Take her class and you won?t just pass the class but also learn and get a good grade.
First off, she has a brother who teaches math as well. Now, she is a wonderful person and a pretty good teacher. I recommend her because she is there to help you understand, but it's up to you to study and do the homework. I am not a fan of mymathlab but it does help. It should be only for study help not a grade.
Best teacher for all mathematics!
Great teacher! Made lots of eye contact because she wanted to know if it was clicking. This woman truley cares about the students. Ohh and she is beautiful
Mrs. V is AMAZING. She will write down necessary steps to each problem and will make sure that we understand the material. She will also move any test dates or due dates if necessary. She takes her time, and most importantly she TRULY CARES!
Ms. V. is positively amazing! Although she can be impersonal and vague at times (eg. no hard copy of syllabus/no personal connection with students), she is an experienced teacher who has found her joy in teaching and her class is well worth your time and full effort. Extra credit and e-texts are the name of the game in this class. Recommended!
idk if 1140 is right. PRECALC. She is amazing and so willing to help her students. WOULD DEF RECOMMEND. I will be taking more of her classes (: if math isn't your thing, take Mrs.V (:
Great teacher. Explains things clearly and throughly.
Ms. V is the BEST math teacher ever. She makes sure you understand the material and she teaches it very well. She is very helpful. Gives extra credit points on each test plus she replaces your lowest test grade with the final. I took with her 3 courses so far and i HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER to everyone. GREAT PROFESSOR.
GREAT GREAT PROFESSOR HIGHLY RECOMMEND HER
She's a good teacher if you like to have your hand held throughout the entire course. I personally learn better when I'm given a brief overview of the topic and have me go on by myself. But she spoon feeds you with all the information so if that's how you learn, then she's the best teacher for you.
She is a wondeful professor. She's very willing to help her students and doesn't mind questions during her lectures. She's very clear on what will be included on exams. Online hw is a must in order to pass. Though the textbook isn't required to be purchased. I definitely recommend her especially if math is a weak subject for you.
she is the best math teacher i have ever taken with, i took 4 classes (trig, pre calc, calc 1, calc 2) with her and i would've taken the rest if she taught it. GREAT PROFESSOR AND VERY HELPFUL
I love this Professor! I took her for Trig, Precalc and am currently taking her for calculus. Just copy her notes and do the homework and you will get an A. She is crystal clear in explaining the material and if you ever need any extra help she is more than willing to help you. I strongly recommend taking Mrs. V!!
I am absolutely terrible in math and would have been happy to pass the class with a C; I got an A! Ms. V is a great teacher and pretty much sets you up for success if you do the work, which is extremely easy (online hw, activities due the day of the test, 5 tests and a final) I HIGHLY recommend her to anyone taking a math class!
Amazing teacher. She makes sure you understand the material , so ask questions, come prepared, and show interest, do your work, and you got an A :)
I was apprehensive about taking Misty at first because I had always taken Anderson, but she turned out to be just as amazing! She was extremely nice and helpful. I took one of the harder math classes with her and I managed to pass! (I'm horrible at math by the way).
Mrs. V is a wonderful professor that cares a lot about all of her student but you have to show her that you care. Make sure to ask question anytime you are lost, she would stop the class so that you understand. She has a good sense of humor. Extra credit opportunity and a real easy grader. I have made an A in all her class from 1105 to 2312.
A wonderful professor. First i have ever made an A in a math class. Im taking her for the rest of my math class.
Awesome professor, works with you as long as you show some effort. She does assign book work and online homework which can be a bit much at times but overall she's a great professor, NO quizzes!
She is wonderfully nice & lovely in person and really clear&caring in her teaching. She does the best job in conveying Calc material;so you just need to do well in your part(study/homwork&tests)to get desirable grades, esp.if you have to take Calc2&3.Take a class w her&you'll realize why I say her teaching is FLAWLESS & SHE IS TRULY THE BEEEEEEEEEST!
I don't know about other teachers in HCC, but Ms.V deserves to be known as the BEST MATH TEACHER. You need to take Calc1 serious-attend class sessions,do online hmwk/quiz, try your best in tests; Ms.V is clear in teaching, always eager to help, grades fairly & provides several bonus point opportunities to improve grades even more & more.
Ms. V is the best!! I loved her teaching style (it's very straight forward). She is very helpful and a fair grader. Do the homework and ask questions!! You have to not try at all to do bad in her class.
Ms.V is very nice and helpful. If you do all the homework, quizzes and activities you should good. The problem is that she goes to fast in class. And does not explains many of the online homework exercise prior doing them.
If you have to take any math classes, sign up for her class ASAP; they will fill up in practically days and for good reason. Crystal clear during lecture, has the patience of a saint when dealing with questions and will bend over backwards to help you during office hours.
Excellent teacher. You wont regret taking her.
Calc II with Ms. V was awesome. I would highly recommend any class that she teaches, as the material was well explained. Test problems were very similar to homework/in class examples. Opportunities for extra credit. Overall, Ms. V was very helpful and a great teacher!
M. Vorder Bruegge is a great professor. Lectures are clear, however tests are difficult. Stay on top of your homework and you'll pass. She answers emails, and is there to help via office hours. Currently Taking for Calc 1 and soon Calc 2. Would Highly Recommend.
Mrs. V is amazing. She is super clear and goes step by step on how to solve problems. No book usage, only the MyMath Lab code. She is not a harsh grader, but this is a math class, so try not to miss too many days or you might get lost. Lectures are also posted in video form if absent. With enough effort, an A is possible.
I have taken calc I and II with her and hope to take Calc III with her next semester. Do yourself a favor and take her class, but sign up quick! Most of her classes fill up a day or two after registration opens.
Amazing, nice, and will help you with some advising tips. She explains everything really well for i did not see a lost look on any of her students faces during lecture. She records her lectures to be seen later. Also her brother teaches math courses as well and if she does not fit your schedule he is just as good and teaches with the same style.
I got A from her class. She's a good teacher. Her class was fun, easy to understand. She will give you a review before test. If you do you every homeworks and good on tests. You don't need to take final test anymore.
Took her online Calc II class and it was fantastic. Honestly the best online class I've ever had in any subject. Do yourself a favor and sign up for her classes!
She's awesome! I wish I could take her for Calc 2, but will definitely be taking her Calc 3 & DE classes. Her lectures are clear and she answers any questions. All her lectures are recorded and available on blackboard, so if you miss class you can still keep up. Extra credit on every test. Slow to grade, but she tells you that up front. Take her!
TAKE HER! She makes math so clear. The test is exactly like the problems from lecture. She provides lots of extra credit. The only thing is that she takes FOREVER to grade tests. I had to wait nearly 2 weeks for test once. However, I would take her again and again. Excellent teacher!
This is my second class with Miss V. I took Calc 2 online, which I don't recommend unless you are very dedicated to watching the lectures online. I much prefer taking her in-class and will do so for Calc 3. She's a great professor, so if you get the the chance to take her, do it!
Best math teacher at HCC in my opinion. She uses her iPad to teach and it records the lesson so if you ever need to go back over something you can watch the video which is very helpful. She always makes sure that no one is confused and she is just an overall very good teacher.
Great teacher! Recorded online lectures were easy to understand. Very helpful in-person. Material was hard, but she worked with you to help you understand.
Super nice professor, always there when you needed help. She is a little fast during lectures, so be prepared to follow what she is saying and write at the same time. The class is a lot of homework, but if you do it, it will help a lot in the end. She does take a little too long to grade the tests in my opinion. I would take her again though!
Excellent professor ! Got an A in her class. She is crystal clear in her lectures. Take her if you want an A, or take someone else if you want an F lol.
Ms. V is the best math professor I've ever had. I was never very good in math, and on top of that I had to take this class online. I thought I would be struggling BUT that was not the case at all. Ms. V explains everything so well, and her videos are very easy to follow along! One of the first math classes I've actually 'enjoyed' lol. Take her!!!
Will work with students to help they understand the material better. Will work with students who are unable to attend a day or two of class. Just don't take it over the summer.
Taking Math online is a challenge, especially working through chapters on your own. Mrs Vorder-Bruegge posted videos from in class lectures that made the difference for me. It helped understanding and grasping the different sections. Highly recommend taking math in class, but if you find yourself needing to take it online, sign up for her class.
I took her for Calculous during the summer and I would highly recommend her .
Took her online. Her lectures were amazing, really helps you understand how to work the problems. I took her over the summer so it was a bit more difficult since we went through a lot of chapters per week. The online homework was a pain too. Be prepared to spend ALOT of hours on this class. Ended up with an A, but I had to work for it.
Ms. V is a very, very good professor, but make no mistake -- this class is HARD !! Would not recommend taking this class online, especially if this is your first online class. Two midterms and a final, in addition to HW and the quizzes on Smartlab. Don't do well on the two midterms and you're pretty much done for the class.
Misty not only is a good Teacher but a very caring one as well. Shes very passionate about the success of her students. She has ways and tips of breaking down complex topics to the language of a layman.I was the last student to complete her Final Trig Exam, it was after 9pm. She and her company stayed with me until my ride arrived. Thanks a lot.
It is obvious Mrs. V cares about her students and their outcome in the class. I took calculus online and hated every minute of it, but she was quick to answer my questions. You actually have to show your work on her test... which worked out in my favor because she will give partial credit. Do you homework to keep your grade up.
She is just a perfect teacher and the best math teacher I've ever seen. She really cares about the students. It's really helpful that she shares her lectures online after the class. You don't even need to take notes, all you need to do is to watch videos when you study, and then of course solve the sample math problems.
She is an amazing teacher! She is one of the few professors I have had so far that truly cares about their students doing well and understanding the material. Go to class, do the homework and pay attention. Her reviews help SO much for the tests. Also, she gives extra credit.
I took 1105 with Mrs. V over the summer. It was an accelerated course but she was so helpful. She teaches in the 21st century, using an iPad that is projected for easy visibility which is recorded and accessible on canvas. Her tests are handwritten and she provides a mandatory, non-graded outline due on the day of the test. 10/10 would take again.
Amazing teacher. I'm bad at math in general so I got anxiety just thinking about taking a Calc course over the summer. I ended up passing with a B in her class. She's thorough and super smart and truly dedicates herself to making sure you understand. there's also some extra credit opportunity. If I can take her for all my math classes, I would.
I slept in 1 class. Still got a 100 on the test. Do the MyMathLab and reviews, take notes on the lectures she records. I am good at math, so take that into consideration, but others on here have the same praise. We were behind since the start and it was a summer course. One of the tests got to be online. It gets better, made a goof, asked and got A
This lady is an amazing teacher. Her class was my second attempt at college algebra. She is very compassionate and wants her students to pass. Irma messed us up, so she dropped the first test because we didn't do well as a class. Pay attention to her lecture videos and show up to class. You'll get extra credit for attendance and participation.
Unlike most of the impatient instructors at HCC, Misty is willing to break it down. She doesnt expect you to know the material, she will teach you! I took her class while facing serious health issues, she worked with my schedule. I will be forever grateful to her. You will never regret taking her classes.
If you mess up a answer on a test but your work is somewhat right you get points, she has it where lectures are online and homework HELP in class. First test 60% to second test 93% it is possible you guys i'm at a 98% class grade rn! She has class quizzes over notes so write down question and steps, so don't miss days!!! Favorite math teacher
Extremely caring for her student, will explain the problem thoroughly and is flexible with the schedule. Her lectures are online and her classes consist of doing homework/questions about the content. I do rec. to take neat notes because you will need to look back on them to review for tests. Great professor, she knows what she's doing!
I took Business Calc online along with 5 other classes. I could've received an A, but it was difficult for me to dedicate so much time to this class. It may have been easier for me if I didn't have so many classes (6). Overall, great teacher and exam reviews are just like the exams. Taking this class online requires a lot of dedication so be ready!
Amazing teacher! I was scared to take Calculus because I failed it in high school, but she is really clear. I took her online class and all of her lectures were posted and I felt as if I was in the classroom. Very thankful I had her as a teacher. She responds really fast to emails.
Ms V is passionate and a great Calc II Professor. She is very fair, even somewhat lenient when grading exams. She is funny and charming, and her enthusiasm about math is contagious. Gold star
She is the best online teacher Ive ever had. I just finished her business calculus class and I cant say enough nice things about it. Her videos are great and explain any questions you might have but shes fast to rely to emails if you do have a question. Do the test reviews and youll ace the class! Definitely recommend.
Love her. Her lectures are all online which is great and every day when you come in class there is a quiz on your notes of the lecture. The quiz is usually just one question and your allowed to use the notes. Just study the study guide and learn everything on it and the exams are exactly like it. Class is used to ask questions and do homework.
Literally the best Business Calc teacher ive ever had. All lectures are so clear and she will not move on unless everyone understands. I wish she taught every math class
Took MAC2233 online with her after not passing at my university, got an A in her class. Material is definitely tough when it came to the midterm and final but all of the online work was so easy. Be prepared to spend hours doing MyMathLab. I really recommend her, shes super nice.
Ms. V is my absolute favorite math proff I have ever had. Her grading is extremely fair and clear, homework is lenient, offers a ton of extra credit, and the lectures are available online as videos if you happen to miss a class. I hated trig in HS but ended up getting a 99% in this course over the summer. Take her, your won't regret it.
She's a very caring teacher, however, if you need a structured and organized teacher, Misty is not the professor for you. Her teaching strategies are kind of unorganized, she doesn't go into depth on how to get the answer, only that THAT is the answer. I don't need a teacher to hold my hand, but I do need one who won't confuse me more on math.
She's an okay professor. She responds quickly to emails, but not with the correct answer sometimes. You have to work with her schedule regardless if you have a full time job, family or kids.. She doesn't really care. Her midterm and final can only be taken on campus at certain hours. So it's an inconvenience for people who have responsibilities.
What an angel. Sweetest young lady ever. You feel like your hanging out with a friend. Please be respectful to her. Classes tend to become very rowdy from her laid-back nature and she is not always given the respect she deserves. You will not regret taking her but please only take her if you are a serious student because you are not worthy if not.
She teaches very clearly and tells you exactly what you need to do in the course to get an A. She also gives extra credit and gives study guides prior to each exam that are very similar to the exams. Overall a very nice and laid-back teacher who just wants her students to succeed.
Heavy notes from the videos & repeatedly solving the same problems were what helped me pass the class. Tests are mostly from activities, so study those but do all prep before midterm and final. Extra credit was appreciated after the final!
Great Professor. I thought I would struggle more than what i did. Just do all your hw which is on MyMath lab. 5 tests and a final. Drops lowest score. Quizzes on my Mathlab, drops lowest quiz grade. She gives study guides for each exam. Just study 1 hr and you can easily make an A. Great Professor
Professor Vorder Bruegge was a great trig teacher! She explained topics well but there was a lot of weekly homework. She also did not allow us to use a graphing calculator on the midterm and final which I did not like because I feel like it is crucial for trig. Other than that, she offers an extra credit paper at the end.
The reason I rated this class a 5 diff is because I took it online. You have to dedicate a lot of your time to watch her lectures as well as doing homework. A LOT! I wish I could take her class in person, but even online shes amazing. For a difficult subject, she explains in a clear manner. Do her activities/extra credit! Study guides like tests!
She is honestly one of the best teachers at HCC. She gives a lot of extra credit and she is good at helping you understand if you are confused. TAKE HER!!!
Her teaching style is amazing, and its only day 2. Supper excited about this semester with her.
She is absolutely amazing! Her overall grading in allowing you to drop one of your test grades and having one online test helped me huge on passing! Highly recommend for you to take this professor if you are not the best at Math
Im only half way through this semester and Im taking her class online. May I just say that she is one of the best professors here at HCC! I really wish I could take her in person but because she has lectures videos in canvas I always feel like Im in a classroom and she makes trig seem so easy and her personality makes it even better! TAKE HER!!!
I'm in grad school currently and I came back just to rate her and say how fantastic she is, honestly one of the best. She spent so much extra time making sure I really understood the material, I'm crushing my calculations class now thanks to her efforts!
She is honestly the best teacher I've had at HCC. If you take her class online, she records every single lecture and posts them to make sure that you understand the material. Although the content can sometimes be confusing, she makes it sound so simple, you have just to pay attention and take notes. Also, there's a lot of extra credit!
I appreciate Professor's teaching style: she is very patient and is willing to explain material. Further, Professor offers videos for material that is covered in class to help you solidify your knowledge or even review a topic. Finally, Professor really wants her students to succeed and she offers plenty of opportunities (extra credit) to do so.
Professor B is a great professor. She explains things and makes them easy to understand. Not an easy class, but she is there to help you. She also sponds to messages quickly and is understanding. She provides videos of lectures in case you missed/didnt understand a topic. I also took her for calc 1 & would take her for calc 3, but I dont need it.
Each topic has an online lecture video that breaks down the material. Lecture videos also have plenty of examples that you can work through while the professor is solving it. The homework is time-consuming since it is on MyMathLab, and quizzes are also given on MyMathLab. Each week has another one-question quiz about a problem from the lecture.
Professor Vorder Bruegge is a very understanding professor and will try to help if you need it. At the very beginning of the semester, I had issues with the access code and it took 2 hours to figure out what was wrong. Professor Vorder Bruegge was there to help and everything went well. To make class even better, she provides 2 chances for quizzes!
WOW. Taking trig online I thought was going to be hard. Ms V is super great at explaining, gives extra credit for each test and has review days where she tells you exactly what's on the test. If you miss a class, she has recorded lectures on Canvas. If you fail her class, it's because you didn't try. I am definitely taking her for all Calc classes!
Professor misty will make you pass if you allow her. her extra credit is immense and shes an all around amazing prof. If you watch her lecture videos you will pass this class. There are a lot of videos tho.
I was very nervous taking this course because i never was the best in math, plus the course was in summer and during a pandemic, but she made this class very easy for me. This class requires A LOT of your time, for studying and the homework assignments. Other than that, she genuinely care for her students and wants the best. i highly recommend her!
Took a shorter trig course online over the summer with her and now I want to take all future math classes with this professor. She actually posts her lectures in canvas, which so far no other math professor I've had does. The lectures make the class a lot easier to understand, extra credit was easy at the end of the semester. 5/7 would take again
TrigonometryINTENSE! It took over my life. Had to Quit job, started medication, spent tons on tutoring, my other classes suffered. HOWEVER, she sets you up for success in every way. Clear lectures, relevant homework, study outline for exams, super helpful/available for questions. I had to withdraw after the midterm but I would still choose her again
She's AMAZING. I struggled in this class, Calculus is definitely not easy... You will not regret taking her!! There were 5 tests and a Final exam. I did awful on most tests BUT I passed the exam and the class!! She has study reviews and recorded lectures. If you pay attention and do your work you'll pass.
I love this prof. she made calc as easy as it can get. she takes attendance and give extra credit. homework is on mymathlab. too back shes not teaching calc 2 in the spring. i highly recommend her for calc 1 and trig.
This class was a difficult class. However, she made it so much less stressful on us. She is very understanding and will always push back assignments if you ask. She gives extra credit each test (tutoring & showing work) and she drops the lowest test score. There is A LOT of homework that takes hours to do but I didn't even mind bc she's that good.
She is a nice but her expectations with homework and exams are ridiculous. Her homework is way too long and with many difficult problems that she does not explain on her videos. Maybe getting the solutions to the homework from others that took the class or the solutions manual helps get cough up with it so you can study for exams. Worse class ever!
A VERY hard course, and a most understanding and helpful professor. I took Calc I online and in the summer semester with double full time classes. Don't do that. In spite of this and with her help, I learned so much. She drops the lowest two quizzes and does give extra credit at the end.
This was an extremely difficult class because it was online and accelerated. Her videos are very helpful, but she only gave us a midterm, midterm II and final which where all 10-20 questions so if you get a few questions wrong you can easily fail. She is very nice, responds to emails right away and loves to help you when you need help with hw qs.
Business Calc is no joke. I took this online over the summer so it was extremely condensed. Prepare for heavy homework and I cannot stress enough to study for midterm and final those are the only tests I had so they were waited very heavy. She is an incredible and caring teacher take advantage of extra credit paper, her study guides and practices.
I took her class fully online with no live class meetings. As long as you watch her lectures, you will be able to understand the material. She breaks it down in a way that is easy, and deviates from the textbook to teach you techniques she believes are the easiest.
I took her online trig class and I LOVED it. She was so reliable and easy to understand. She gave extra credit, and had a lot of office hours. I never took a trig class before and was scared doing it online, but with the zooms meetings with her, it was really understandable.
So much homework, you'll never be in ahead. Two midterms and a final, and only the Mathlab is for credit so the exams are close to 70 percent of your grade. Midterm review modules are vague and the questions are completely different. If you have a job or are taking multiple classes, don't take MAC 1147.
Professor Vorder Bruegge makes you work hard during the course. Nothing will be easy, especially with Calc 2, but the course is organized to get good results if you work hard and pay attention. She is available during the weekdays and responds quickly to any questions you may have. She is a tough and very caring teacher at the same time.
Took Professor Misty in the fall her lectures are all online and she makes videos where you have to watch them and learn and then do the homework on Mylabmath. This course can be challenging. There is 2 midterms from my experience the review she provides is different from the actual test. You have to login on MS teams which can make you nervous.
Hands down the best Trig professor! This class is tough, watch her lectures, take notes, and practice. Homework is short but her lectures are long and have multiple parts so make sure to get those done. There are no tests and only 2 Exams, she will give you credit back for problems you miss if you submit your work! No book and NO MY MATH LAB
Professor Vorder Bruegge is awesome! I am taking my third class with her now. She is so nice to the students in her class. She makes sure everyone is following along with her lectures and answers all questions without making anybody feel dumb. She clearly loves her subject and loves teaching it. If anyone can make you enjoy Math, it's her.
Prof. Misty online course structure is amazing, she provides videos for every module and every chapter. The class does take time, as it is a 5 credit course but she was always helpful and quick to respond to email and also gave a break down on math problems whenever you had questions. The exams are easy as long as you study the review modules.
Great course! She drops lowest quiz grade and gives you the opportunity to make up any hw for 20% off up until the final exam date. Quizzes are on my math lab and not proctored. Mid-term and final are proctored. Lectures are available on canvas and you can look back if you need review. She's willing to help if you have any questions!
This is probably one of the best math professors I have ever taken, most of the work is on my math lab, there is 2 midterms and a final, all you have to make sure to study for but she makes videos preparing you. she adds partial credit if you submit your work for the exams and offers extra credit at the end take advantage. She is amazing. Take her
Review is for Calc 3 fully online. I was very impressed with the way she covered the material in her videos. Grade is only from math lab and 3 tests. Tests are 20-25 multiple choice questions and are pushing the limit of what is actually do-able in 2 hours. You have to know the material well and move fast.
Prof. Vorder Bruegge is amazing. The online course is a lot of watching her in class lectures, but if you actually watch them then you will understand the material really easily. I started MAC2312 with another professor but dropped the class and waited a semester so I could learn from her.
I have to say Mrs. Bruegge is very sweet! This class was DIFFICULT. However, she did provide many videos for each lesson and gave a review for the two midterms and the final. The final review is very similar to the actual final. I actually needed one point on my final to get an A, and she found the point in my partial credit.
As another commenter said, the lectures don't match the homework and the homework doesn't match what's on the test. No matter how hard I study, there's no point if the material I am given to study with isn't going to be on the exams.
if you have terrible time management do not take this class online, take it in person. mrs. v has amazing lectures but they are long. homework is through my math lab. there's 1 midterm, 1 final, weekly 1 question notebook quizzes, and an extra credit paper. take good notes, do your hw, and study for the exams and you should easily pass.
Amazing professor!! She moves a bit fast sometimes but she's always willing to assist you if you do not understand something. You'll have my math lab assignments for homework which is an easy A. The tests throughout the semester are pretty straightforward and she does a great job preparing you for each one. Just take good notes!
There's so much homework that you'll never catch up. I spent 12 to 18 hours a week on my homework. the exams are close to 70 percent of your grade. Don't take MAC 1147 if you are working or taking many classes. I advise you not to take this if you have kids. It makes you hate your life. Also, I don't believe the rating of 5/5 is accurate.
This class did have lots of homework and lecture videos but its because it is a joint class of two subjects that will prepare for calculus. There are review videos for the exam (3 exams) that helped me a lot. Make sure you understand the material not just memorize it. BEST MATH TEACHER!!!
Calculus 1 is a very challenging class I took it in the summer as a 12-week course the lecture videos are very helpful to understand and go through the reviews in the modules for the exams is important to study I mostly used the reviews in my math lab to prepare for the midterms as for the final the review in the last module was most helpful.
calculus 2 was very difficult but prof Bruegge was the best choice, in my opinion, I went to her office hours when I was confused about solving a question she made it very clear and broke down how to solve the question which amazing. the lectures were very helpful for the reviews she gave us for the exams. I would suggest a lot of practice.
Supper recommended. I took her for cal3, and it was super easy. Her lectures are straightforward. I thought cal3 would be super challenging, but she made my life easier. There are four tests and one final during the semester.
The questions on the exam are much harder, than the test reviews. That's the only thing that annoyed me.
Before every exam, I STUDY... A LOT. She provides reviews but the questions on the exams are WAY harder and don't truly align with what you review/practice. You could spend hours genuinely practicing the review and then take the actual exam and it's like you never even reviewed. If you want to do well, don't take this professor.
Incredibly hard course. Lots of lectures and the test and Proctored and you also have to be in a Teams call for your exams. Homework heavy with only a couple extra credit opportunities at the end. Exams are worth a big majority of your grade.
I took this online and you'll def need to put in the 15-20+ hrs a week, that she recommends. The course uses MyMathLab, which can be infuriating at times due to HW length and answer formatting. Get ahead of due dates early so you have a buffer to study for exams, which count the most towards grade. Her lectures and study guides are great though!
Professor Vorder-Bruegge is a great professor, her lectures are loaded with information but if you pay attention and ask questions you will learn everything. She accommodated for me, and her tests are not too difficult if you know the material and study. I would definitely recommend her class.
TAKE HER CLASS! It is Calculus so it's not an easy A, especially in summer. Class outline is simple and she provides detailed and engaging recordings of her lectures. Videos are easy to follow and she breaks down EVERY part of the problem. Always available to answer questions/meet with students. Do the work(hw, notes, and lectures) and you pass!
Calc 2 is very difficult, but this prof gives partial credit for mc & written response you got wrong on exams!! I think I would've failed if this prof graded like others do.Lectures are very clear with several examples for every lesson. hw is on mylabs & u can submit late for 75% credit. offers 10 pts extra credit on final exam if you write a paper
Professor Vorder-Bruegge talks a lot during classes and it is indeed distracting. BUT she will always help you and explain you that 2+2=4 a hundred times if necessary, she loves teaching and she gives you a lot of chances to imoprove your reasoning and your grade through extra credit. overall great professor with a very big and kind heart.
tbh... don't take trigonometry online, take it in person, its a hard class. she uses myopenmath the homework is based on accuracy, you can turn it in late for 75%. theres a midterm and final but she gives partial credit. theres a 10 pt extra credit opportunity at the end of the course, you write an essay on how you use math in your everyday life.
Syllabus Quiz 5%, Homework 20%, 8 Quizzes 15%, Midterm & Final 60%. Honorlock for both midterm and final, hw and quiz on Pearson. Drops lowest two grades for quiz. Her lectures are great and really break down the problems for you. Make sure to take notes and try to gain full understanding of each part. Offered extra credit 10 pts added to final.
Took Prof V. Bruegge for Calc 2 and Calc 3 and she is very helpful & caring person. Both online class. Very responsive to emails. Test are hard. Need to practice over and over the problems and materials to pass the class. Definitely recommend taking her any math classes. She will work with you with any questions.
If you're trying to take online course with this professor just keep in mind you need to buy a lot stuff before taking class tests including syllabus quiz.
Homework 15%, Quizzes 10%, Notebook Quizzes 5%, Exams 60%, and Final 10%. Very engaging in class, offers extra credit assignments for 5 exam points via submitting notes taken at home from videos. She makes study guides and has video uploads of her old onine lectures. The final is mandatory; however, it can be used to replace a past test score.
The lectures of professor Vorder Bruegge were amazing. She is very friendly and co-operative and provided good feedbacks. She also provides 4 extra credit assignments which very much helps to improve the grades. I got an A+ and one should definitely go for her for the calculus class.
This professor is amazing. There is alot of work. But she does drop a few at the end. I took this course in the summer and I was able to pase with a 100< due 2 extra credit. To pass make sure to really watch her review videos .The test has the same question format but different numbers. Make sure to show your work. She might drop a test at the end.
Prof. Bruegge is one of the best professors I've ever had. I struggled with Pre-Calc and Trig, but going into Calculus with her was so easy. She has long lectures and homework, but they're detailed and easy to understand for online. They're usually harder than the actual exams too so you'll end up doing well. I plan on taking her for Calc 2 and 3!
Prof Vorder Bruegge is amazing - she breaks down concepts clearly and is super helpful in office hours. The class is challenging but manageable with practice. Try Unstuck study alongside the textbook for great study prep.
This professor is one of the best I ever had. I'm taking her Cal-2 classes again. She's so sweet and she explain all the details. Her tests are very simple and you can easily pass with A. She make sure everyone understand and she motivate students very well. I would love to take Cal-1 with her too but sadly she doesn't teach.
Professor Vorder Bruegge was very nice and tried her best to be helpful. But taking Calc 3 in a fully online setting is extremely difficult. The main problem with Professor Vorder Bruegge was that her course expected 20-25 hours of time a week which is unreasonable for a community college course.
Professor Vorder Bruegge is a super easy tester, but she keeps them very short so make sure you know the material so you don't miss something! She's insanely nice, amazing at explaining things and doesn't make you feel dumb even when you realize how dumb your question is after asking it. Overall very sweet and an amazing instructor.
One of the best math professors at HCC. She cares about her students and wants them to succeed, and is willing to work with you and help you as long as you put in the effort. Attend her lectures and do all of the homework if you can. Her tests are pretty similar to the homework and she has lots of easy extra credit opportunities.
I took Misty for a full academic year from Pre-Calc to Calc II and earned an A on all of her courses. She structures her classes to set you up for success: lowest test, quiz, and homework scores are dropped. Extra credit is offered for showing your work on tests and for a final exam paper.
Take her if you can! She has in-depth lectures that leave little room for confusion. The homework can be tough, but they really prepare you for the tests. She assigns an extensive review for each of the 3 exams that are usually harder than the test itself. Calc 2 is hard, but if you do homework, reviews, and optional extra credit, it's an easy A.
To me the whole point of taking online classes is bc your schedule is busy, this professor expects you to record when you look at her lectures, quizzes are proctored and exams must be through a 2nd camera not to mention you must do them at specific dates and time or you'll have to go to a testing center making extremely difficult for adult students
Adults with a full time job DO NOT take her class. Tests available only on specific day even if going to a testing center. Only 3 tests that make up 65% of the final grade, meanwhile over 40 homework/quizzes account for only 15% of your grade respectively. Pre-recorded lectures with lots of noise. Little actual communication with students.
I took this course during the summer, and despite the amount of homework, the video reviews she provided made the quizzes and exams manageable. She does her best to help you pass, since she is quite understanding if you have any problems and provides feedback on tests. She also offers extra credit and exam replacement scores.
Her lectures are pretty good, kinda old though. Honestly, the lectures didn't really teach me much. Most of my knowledge came from algebra 2 in high school. Unfortunately, she does honorlock on the midterms (2) and final which is pretty annoying especially since they take a while. Solid option if you have no other choices.
This class is difficult on its own, taking it online is brutal. Very self lead, though there are due dates every week. Typically 3-4 lessons + homework + a 10 question quiz. I found that the professor's videos did not explain the topics fully, some topics towards the end of the semester went completely unmentioned, but showed up on the homework.
