This professor is amazing. He is funny and loves the subject. Class very easy if you show up.
Harden is a nice enough guy and funny but his assignments are ridiculous. Tons of busy work for a 100 level class. He gives difficult writing assignments like he thinks we already know about this stuff. He needs to chill out and remember we are not grad students. He makes class interesting, but I would not recommend him.
Best professor that I have ever had!!! He was easy and made the subject interesting!! He was pretty funny as well!! I would take this class over with him in a heart beat!! Amazing
This teacher was very good for me. I never even bought the book and still managed to pass with an B because his lectures where very clear and If you take notes you are golden. Like others have said, he is funny which helps keep your attention. An A+ teacher
Just for you professor
Had taken his bio psychology class and i must say he is my favorite teacher as of yet. its just the class but it was quite challenging (definatly study and it might be easy...)extreamly funny and i recommend him as a teacher
He was a lot of fun in class, but his tests were really hard! Luckily, he dropped our lowest test grade!
He gives soo much extra credit, it's almost impossible to fail. You get the grade you work fork for and want.
He was soo funny, and he gives out so much extra credit, you get the grade you work for. I would definately recommend him.
fun class. group grading very subjective. lots of extra credit.
this guy is hilarious!!! i loved loved loved this class! gives a lot of extra credit... group attendance is very crucial! so make sure you have a good group but really you have no control over who is in it... recommend this class!
My first semester of college I took this class and I found that he was a great teacher. Had tons of interest in what he was teaching. Kept up good with the schedule and giving grades on time. Lots of extra credit.
A lot of random stories about his high school days & tossed in were a few tidbits of psychology terms. He seems unprepared, no class outline to be followed, due dates, etc. are constantly changed. Hard to prepare for tests due to random nature of class discussions. If you want to learn something about psych-choose another instructor.
this teacher is awesome! i learned so much and he has such a fun way of teaching. he is always prepared and always has a good story to tell. the stories are funny and interesting and always have to do with what we are learning. great teacher! take his calss!
I love his teaching style
So hilarious! You come home with funny stores and look forward to class. He offers extra credit and wants to make sure the student is happy so they learn. YOU WILL LOVE HIS GROSSEST STORY EVER. YOU MUST HEAR IT. take the class just for the story if you must.
Love this teacher!!!! He is HILARIOUS, always has funny stories, & engaged our interest when teaching. With us, he tried the "game setup" rather than a regular class. Idk if he'll do it again, but it was easy. Always gave 100% if you completed the assignment. Don't take if you want a traditional class. Only con is that we never knew our grades.
He is hilarious and I always had fun in his class. Such a smart guy. I highly recommend him.
Good instructor and lectures are interesting but he is not good at updating grades and has the weirdest grading system and your grade depends on others (in groups) which is stupid. The homework is not hard at all even though there is a lot. Overall I recommend him.
He's one of the best teachers ive ever had. He's not a boring teacher! He adds comedy and teaches in a way that young people can understand. Your grade is based off what/how much u do and group assignments(your grade cant drop). Sometimes the quizzes were hard if u didnt read the chapter but its IMPOSSIBLE to fail this class!!!
It`s important to get a long. Be active, listen and dont ignore! and you will be cool.
Awesome teacher. love his way of teaching, in the last four weeks i have learned a lot of information. this class is pretty easy as long as you attend and keep up with making your points!
Too many stories about his prior lifestyle. Only teaches for about 20 minutes everyday. Also, no study guides or helpfulness on tests.
He likes to tell lots of stories about his life and his friends. He teaches very little each class period and gives no help with what to study for tests. You have to put in work to pass this class
I LOVED Mitch. He makes everyone feel comfortable, and he is insanely funny! Yes he tells a lot of stories, but they pertain to what you're learning. You look forward to going to his class & he's willing to work you when you need it. I definitely recommend his class!
I had his college 101 class, and he was great. I thought the class was going to be a joke, but he made it real. and real funny too. I never wanted to skip class and i always want to skip classes. im going to take more of his classes just to help my attendance.
His class was the highlight of my day and he was always cracking jokes. Not a hard class, just show up and try to pay attention. A TON of extra credit opportunities, even one to get you out of the final...
Great teacher. Chose all my classes for psych around him for my last two semesters. Funny guy.
Professor Harden would not respond to my emails. I sent him several emails with questions regarding assignments with no response. When he did respond his emails were brief and vague. He is not much help. I would not take his online class.
Special topics: the brain. Funny smart teacher. Horrible teacher. Not even fully through the semester right now and I'm writing this. Makes up assignments just so he doesn't have to teach. I've learned nothing since day one. Online book and no due dates or syllabus. Don't take him if you don't want to teach yourself.
Mitch is really disorganized. All of the due dates were completely skewed and we never knew when anything was due and he took forever to get back to any questions. That being said, he will fix your grade and offer a lot of extra credit, especially when he realizes he is at fault.
He was a hillarious and understanding teacher. We had a lot of cool debates!
Harden is a very funny guy, although, his teaching is not good. He is barely goes over anything that is needed for the test. Most of the class is him telling stories which can be super fun and interesting but you don't learn anything for the test. His instructions on homework and class work is very unclear.
Mitch is a wonderful guy, and very funny. Not a very good teacher tho. He gets side tracked, talks way too fast, and you won't learn anything in his class.. but you will have fun. My favorite class, laughed a lot but when it came to taking the test, you ask yourself if you even talked about that. 90% of the time you didn't. Don't recommend him.
I can not recall one class period where we talked about anything related to the subject being studied. He was never clear on directions when I asked multiple times. I sent an e-mail about a question on one of our topics and got no response. I asked in class why I did not receive an email back and his response was "didn't think it was important"
This guy told funny stories regularly, which made coming to class easy. You had to read the book a lot though because he didn't say everything in lecture, but he said that's how it worked in the syllabus. He gave so much extra credit chances that I got an A even though I did terrible on tests. He did plug his other classes a lot.
I just came to calss and did all the extra creidt. Super easy. I like his stories.
I took this class on line for the half semester at the end and it was really busy but very clear. I had to ask a lot of questions but he always answered back right away and I just did all the work. there were no tests just a paper but it was easy too. this is the fist online class i took and i got an A
This was a 8 week online class. It was so easy. It was all laid out up front. I just did the work and got an A.
Tests are tough... But wow, probably the funniest teacher you'll ever take. My little sister is going to SCC next semester and I'm making sure that she takes him. I looked forward to his class everyday.
Nice guy, but you do not learn the material during class. Mostly listen to his own personal stories or current issues happening. If you do better at teaching yourself by reading then this is the class for you. If not i do not recommend Mitch.
Pretty much everyday in Mitch Harden's class was a riot. He had many life stories that related to what we were learning and it definitely made class more interesting. If you are easily offended, steer clear. He assigns group projects, but does peer surveys within that group and takes feedback seriously. Participation is a must. Overall easy A.
He's a riot, and the kind of guy you either love or hate. He expects you to read the book so some people don't like that, but he's easily the most accessible professor I've ever had; I'd come to him with questions day or night and I could count on his response. His courses are quite fun and not difficult to pass, given you read the material.
Took online 8 week class. It was easy because all the assignments were on an outside program or something easy in Canvas. He responded to my emails quickly when I had questions but took FOREVER to grade. He graded EVERY SINGLE assignment (except for 2) on the day before the grades were due. It is kinda busy and you learn material urself. Easy tho
Not much to do. Just listen. You're pretty much on your own for learning, but he's got funny stories. Not much homework is given or test
Honestly, I didn't learn anything. He is funny, but when you're paying for this course, you expect to get something out of it. All I remember is his childhood stories. Easy A, but not worth my time.
Funny guy, but that's about it. Knows what he's talking about when he teaches but most of the lectures are personal stories. Not a bad class if you're fine with teaching yourself the content because his life stories are not on the tests.
I loved him! I was in my sophomore year in high school and had him at nights, he is absolutely AMAZING! He told many stories that connected with the topic being discussed in class which made me remember the material a lot better. I wish there were more professors like him!
He was the best teacher I have had at St. Charles Community College so far. I would recommend any student to take this class with him. He is the kindest and funniest person ever. He really helped me understand and learn knew ways to study.
In this class he taught us about himself and his family, not psychology. Anything we learned was from the online textbook. He was very unprofessional.
Bruh.. Mitch is only reachable via snapchat and his lectures are short and end up going into some funny weird story. You just have to do the online homework and extra credit.
He was funny. However, he could be arrogant at times which was annoying. He lectured a little bit and threw stories in that kind of fit. But at the end of the day, the test is about definitions and application and that is not included in his lectures. If you are prepared to read the online textbook and do the online homework then go for it.
The first thing I want to know is why Mitch didn't get the chili pepper. The second thing I want to know is why people get offended so easily. This is college, god forbid you experience an opposing viewpoint. Tells you whats on his mind with no qualms and he's not politically correct. His tests were easy but his stories aren't on them.
He is a super funny guy and tells a lot of hilarious stories about his life, but the downfall to this is that you have to do a lot of the learning on your own and he does not give study guides to his exams so you really don't know what to focus on for the exams. However, he does give a lot of easy extra credit which was nice.
Mitch was by far the funniest professor I have ever had. I took his College 101 class because it is mandatory but I am glad I chose him. Our class we spent the whole three hours just sitting there watching videos and him talking about the most random stuff. For our final we got a A if we showed up and watched the movie he put on. Very little work.
Mitch was my first ever college professor so I walking into his class blind to what expect from him or other college professors. What I learned from that day and so on was he made the class enjoyable. I always looked forward to going his class as he would tell stories or just random stuff. I hope their are more college professors like him!
I took psych in the summer with mitch. He was very funny when he lectured. We did have to do group work in class but it wasnt as bad here as that usually is. I would love to take more classes with mitch!!!!
Make sure you participate in class. He's great!!
You get what you give out of Mitch's classes. A lot of individuals tend to claim he doesn't teach so much as he tells stories, and while he DOES tell stories, he still teaches the course material and is more than willing to give you what you need to learn. Ask, and you shall receive.
Super easy class. He does tell lots of stories during his lectures, but it makes the material easier to understand. Very funny. Drops a good amount of your lowest grades. Do the work outside of class and you'll be fine.
Awesome Professor! Loves telling stories in class and is super understandable!
He relied a lot on the online book and activities. He mainly told stories in class and rarely did he talk about psychology for more than 45 mins of the class. There were online tests, and online essays. But if you do the work, getting a good grade shouldnt be difficult at all.
I had psychology in the summer while I was home. I didn't expect to enjoy a class at a community college but this class was great. Mitch was great fun and I learned a lot in such a short time. It was actually a good class.
Harden is a great professor! He knows what he is doing and truly cares about his students. The only downside about him is that he talks about random stuff for a majority of class, so you have to learn a lot about the chapter on your own. If there is extra credit, do it so you won't have to write as many essays. Besides that he is fantastic!
Harden was hilarious. Told great stories. I don't know if I learned everything I was supposed too but I definitely paid more attention in this class than any other.
Enjoyed this classes material and the professor. He made it enjoyable to learn and made the lectures interesting.
I took this class in my first semester and it is the reason that I'm going to stay in college. This professor was hilarious and told great stories and I learned so much from reading the book. It was really easy to get the grade I wanted in this class I just wrote the essays and that was about it.
Lovely teacher and a great guy.
First of all, he is so funny! He honestly is so relatable and he doesn't try to be either. He is so relaxed and makes it easy to get a decent/passing grade in the class. He is also easily accessible, as he has many ways to contact him (Snapchat even). I was never a fan of psychology but after taking him, I really want to take more!
Hilarious and fun teacher to be around.
I loved everything about this class. If you just want points it is easy to get points. But if you want to learn he it's so knowledgeable and will engage the class with any topic we bring up. We had the best discussions in classes so did sit quietly if you really want to learn.
Mitch is the homie!!! He really knows his stuff and explains psychology in a way that will make you mind blown! Hes super nice and cracks jokes the entire time! He still teaches you a lot,but will have some lectures that will get off topic, I believe he does this on purpose. He isn't concerned of offending people, but to be honest he's not trying 2
Best professor I've ever had. I would've dropped out if I didn't have his class.
Every lecture was interesting and kept me engaged the whole class. The home is all online and very easy to access and preform well on.
Great class. Well doctor mitch made it great. You got to take it so take it with this guy.
Slow grader but great teacher. I did real good in class because he explained everything g and the tests were easy. I'm taking his other classes because this guy was the real mvp.
Easiest class ever. Show up, so some group work, and read the book. He is such a slow grader but when the semester was over I had an A so I dont care.
This was the only class I actually showed up for. Harden was hilarious and it was always worth my time.
I loved Psych 101. This is one class that I looked forward to going to. Harden is hilarious and always makes it fun to come to class. He's easy on work and most tests and quizzes are online. The textbook is free and if you just browse the chapters it's an easy A. Harden makes class enjoyable and I would highly reccomend taking his class.
I had doctor mitch for the first half of the semester before quarantine. He was hilarious in class and was seriously the only reason I came to campus. It sucked having to go online. But he made it easy to figure it out while we were all figuring things out. I'm going to take his summer class too.
Great professor. 10/10 would take again. Mitch is very passionate about what he teaches. He is very funny and loves to tell stories during lectures. Easy A and one of those classes where you learn without even noticing. Exams are all very easy and online.
Professor Harden was the best professor I have had so far! He's very relatable and funny! In his class syllabus he describes himself as a huge nerd. The class was super easy if you did the reading you could pass with flying colors! no tests, only chapter quizzes & two essays(midterm and final). He takes the best grade of the two essays. Great class
I'm so glad I took his class this semester. All my classes were on zoom like this one, but this one was by far the best. Harden was so laid back that it felt like a relief to be in his class. I had to do a lot of reading on my own, but it was at my pace.
Professor Harden has been an amazing teacher this semester during all of the online classes. He always has great stories to go along with his lectures which makes the material and the classes more interesting. No late work is accepted, but the work is very doable. Plus having a teacher who is pretty awesome makes you want to pass their class
This class was all set up before I got there. It was easy to do the work because all the assignmnets were posted early. I had to go to gulf shores and i did all the work for that week beforehand since he had it posted.
made college enjoyable. looked forward to his lectures.
I loved taking this class! Professor Harden is so down-to-earth and assigns diverse and actually fun coursework. He takes an approach in which you and he are working towards your good grade together. His quizzes are low stakes and A's are definitely attainable.
best professor at scc no kizzy
Online-only class (no lectures, no zooms). Recommend for independent, individual study. Reading 30-40 pages per chapter. Written assignments are often based on psychological videos or podcasts (add up to 1hr watching per assignment). Quizzes are online with unlimited attempts. If the midterm essay is good, no final is needed. Textbook provided.
Straight to the point lectures, weekly open note quizzes
I loved Prof Harden, hes a great guy and gives awesome feedback on assignments. The work was pretty easy, just be ready to read. The chapters are short luckily. There were some weird topics we had to discuss about or write about, but its always good to get out of your comfort zone a little.
He tells stories but still makes the class interesting through using the stories to tie into the lessons
He was awesome! Very funny, great guy! As far as psych teachers go he was one of the best. Very easy class, but really taught stuff. Had very good learning techniques, not too serious the whole class but also didnt goof off the whole time. Made it super relatable to all and overall a great class!
Professor Harden gives a lot of effort to show you that he is a real person, due to classes online, and I really appreciated that. He is a bit out there but gives good assignments and helpful information. Assignments sometimes could take a while just because of how in depth they needed to be, but weren't too difficult in general.
Doctor Mitch was great in class. he made it interesting everytime and this was the only class that i had perfect attendance. im going to take his drugs class in the fall and any other classes he teaches because it was the best experience i had this semester. i hope he reads this to know how much i liked his class.
This class was amazing! I didn't expect much of it a diversity class, but i actually learned so much. I didn't feel there was any shaming and Mitch was really good at having conversations about difficult topics. Everyone should take this class
Prof. Harden was a fantastic teacher to have for Psy 101, and I really enjoyed his lectures. Although, I would advice you to not overshare your personal life, because it is not the place to do so. Instead, try to consult a licensed professional that will be equipped to meet your needs.
I took this as a summer class. It was all setup before the first day and everything had due dates so i could just work it at my schedule. u did have to do discussions but not to maney. the assignments were actually interesting and i only had to write one paper. harden set us up and then helped when we needed it but mostly i always new what to do
This class was the only reason I stayed enrolled this year. It was worth the drive to campus every class. The lectures were great, and I learned so much about life and psychology.
Professor Harden is by far amazing. Out of all the educators i have had he has to be at the top of my list. I enjoy his discussions before lectures and even during. I also enjoy his true fascination with the subject and with helping others to learn it as well.
Dr. Mitch Harden was an amazing professor. He is super fun, sociable, and easy to get along with. I would take another class with him any semester. He doesn't require a final test but we do have a mid-term and final essay. His quizzes and assignments are easy. You're able to access his social media in case you need to get in touch with him too.
Mitch is an awesome person and a great teacher. There are complaints here about how he gives a lot of life stories, but that's what college should be about. Not just learning the course material, but learning something about life from your professors and peers. His classes are easily some of my favorites.
Professor Harden gives great lectures. Though attendance is not mandatory, I highly recommend showing up to class. The online assignment is much more difficult than what you do in class, but you will not gain as much knowledge if you only do the online assignment. Overall, he's super funny and engaging. Taking him again next year.
He is super funny. Being in his class was the highlight of my day. He always had a funny story to share and was very helpful when it came to understanding the material :)
Mitch is a great professor - his lectures are engaging, and he strikes a nice balance between course material and life lessons. Using Unstuck ai and the free textbook makes this class manageable.
I think this was an easy online class. You got to retake the quizzes over the textbook (which is free online) as many times as you wanted and the video assignments were pretty easy as long as you hit all the topics on the rubric. No exams and I was able to get quick replies to my emails.
I took this online. Everything was a video which was different but I got used to it. It's easy to forget to do the videos each week but he let me turn them in late for credit.
I had to record videos but professor Hardin instructed me what to do which made it easy. English is not my first language but he was very patient and fair in his grading. I got time to read with open schedule so could learn over time instead of in a class.
It took him too long too grade. But he took all late work so I guess its fair. I messed up some assignments and he let me do them again for credit. So even though it wasn't easy i was able to get an a because of how flexible he was. I haven't had a better online class but I do think I shouldve taken it on campus instead
